Last year I decided to go back to good old GHD'S as I had not had a pair for a good few years. I purchased a Pink Orchid pair from the GHD website for £110 , this was in September of last year.
They came very nicely presented in a box which actually turned out to be a dark purple clutch bag gift, accompanied with 2 hair clips and a GHD safety lock sleeve which simply slips over the top of the closed straighteners. This sleeve would be idea for people with children as it can prevent the straighteners being touched when they are cooling down or from being turned on.
The straighteners plug directly into a plug socket (UK) however you can remove the pastic casing on the plug to reveal a European plug. This would be ideal for going abroad.
You then switch the straighteners on via a small switch on the inside of them, this part is important as they will make a bleeping noise then they will bleep again when they are ready for use!
I think this is a big advantage as you can be doing other things while they heat up then you are made aware of when they are ready for use!
Once they are heated up and ready for use they glide easily over they hair without catching and pulling and loose strands! I have very long and thick hair and I was extremely pleased with the overall result, my hair was very straight and did not appear dull or burnt.
The hair clips that come with the straighteners are also extremely useful for separating your hair into sections before you use the straighteners.
Another big advantage is that if you go online to the GHD website and watch the styling video you can also learn how to use the straighteners for other styles such as curls and waves!
I would advise to use heat protection with this product as I would with any heated appliance for your hair as this will prevent split ends and keep your hair in good condition.
I feel like the straighteners where a successful purchase and overall I have no complaints.
So as we all know by now... every girl LOVES uggs!
In this review I aim to defend the ever climbing price of Ugg's by explaining just why they are great!
Priced at £165 in House of Fraser and also in John lewis, this is an expensive price for winter boots however they are extremely versatile and well worth the money.
Firstly; The variety ... this particular review is about the short classic tan, however Ugg do have a wide range of boots from black to brown from wellies to even slippers! They also create different designs such as knittied and those with buttons. So they pretty much cater for any style or taste.
The classic short tan has to be my favorite BY FAR! I can literally pair these boots with any outfit and not only do they look great but they are amazingly comfortable!
Eg; I wore them recently for a festival with denim shorts and a t shirt, however I usually wear them with jeans and a shirt!
The sheep skin lining inside makes them warm in the winter and cool in the summer making them the ideal footwear what ever the weather! They also dry without staining if you where to get them wet.
The suede outside material also makes it east to wipe away any marks or spills. Aslong as they are well looked after there is no reason why they would not last a number of years as they are well produced and hard wearing.
As you can probably tell by the headline...I was highly disappointed with this foundation by Benifit!
Considering this was their First liquid foundation I am not impressed atall. Priced at £24.50 at the Benifit counter in Debenhams, I personally feel it is not worth that much.
When I read other raving reviews online I went down to my local beauty store to purchase some for myself.
When I was trying to apply the foundation on the top of a Benifit face primer it seemed very thin and even with a brand new foundation brush I still could not achieve even coverage on my face. As with any good foundation the best result should come from using a foundation brush.
Benifit promise a flawless complexion with this and that is defiantly not the case!
The overall finish of the foundation is quite dewy and requires some 5 to 10 minutes to dry before applying a powder or a bronzer, even so with a bronzer the appearance is still quite shiny.
I would also like to comment on the uneven coverage that I got from using this, rather than leaving an even medium coverage I found it to be very thin with light coverage, this would not be ideal fro any one who wishes for medium coverage.
I tried the foundation again this time using no face primer incase this was the reason for the dewy effect, however I still experiences the same problem!
I feel Benifit could of done so much better from their first liquid foundation!
Thanks to Barry M's latest creation of Magnetic nail varnish's I am going to be painting my nails on a daily basis!
They really are another small bottle of magic!
Once again I was slightly skeptical about using this as I couldnt work out how this would ever work.. but I invested in 2 colours ( dark red and shimmery black) and decided to try them out for my self!
Barry M has once again succeeded in creating beautiful nail colours such as as the red that they have made available in Magnetic's.
The whole process of achieving the magnetic effect is very simple and took my only 10 minutes in total.
Firstly: I applied the first coat on both hands and left it to dry (as it says on the bottle)
I then applied a second coat and instantly floated the magnetic lid over my nail.. 5 seconds later the little ripples appeared on my nail! You have to float the magnet over each individual nail as you paint them, be sure to do this straight away or the pattern will not fully come out.
I finish overall with Barry M top coat and my nails looked amazing,
The magnetic pattern looks very original and is unlike any nail varnish on the market, priced at £4.99 in superdrug I think it is well worth the money.
Well the title says it all... this really is Clever Nail varnish!
I was bought a number of Barry M nail varnish's for my birthday recently!
So I sat down ...slightly skeptical.. but willing to give it a go!
And I was VERY pleasantly surprised! Barry M Nail Effects is pure genius! I used Barry M Silver nail varnish as my base coat and then applied the animal print effect over the top once the base coat had dried.
The result looked both unique and funky!
I finished it all off with Barry M top coat to make it shine, the best way to describe nail effects is to say they almost look like nail foils.. the result does not look like something you could simply achieve from nail varnish.
A big plus is the range of colours Barry M have got available, makes it easy to match the effect to any outfit!
So browsing around super drug I found myself down the fake tan aisle, as per usual. As I went to pick up my normal instant fake tan I noticed Solait instant tan which was half the price and also on offer!
So after purchasing 2 bottles I tried it out the next day...only to be VERY disappointed! I applied the tan as I normally would any not only did it have a nasty (and very strong) fake tan smell, but I looked like I had done it in the dark! The streaks where horrific and no matter how much I rubbed and patted they where not budging!
But the only positive is that I have learnt that cheap options are not a good idea when it comes to fake tan and you really do have to pay full price to achieve the best results! In future I think ill stick with Rimmel!
Firstly before I rave about all the pro's of Rimmel Sun Shimmer let me first point out the best FACT about this product; You can buy it ANY WHERE! From any beauty shop, supermarket or even pharmacy. The good thing about this is that you can shop round for the cheapest price.
Now onto the product itself, it comes in light, medium and most recently dark! All 3 shades differ and its best to test a small amount on your hand to see which colour suits your skin tone best.
So I wear medium, I ALWAYS apply it with a fake tan mit (another essential for fake tan addicts), using circular motions to get the an even tan result. I find that 2 coats works best for a nice deep colour and it dries within 5 - 7 minutes.
Although it is sensitive to water they have recently created a water proof one! However the original one does not rub off on clothing and does not leave a nasty after smell. Another pluss is that it washes straight off without leaving flakey fake tan stuck to your skin!
Overall a good product, quick and easy to use with very few negatives!
