Asos.com or As Seen On Screen (it's full name) is an online shop dedicated to the latest in trendy clothes, fashion accesories, and beauty bits 'n' pieces.
Majority of it's garments are inspired by the latest looks seen on today's 'celebrities' ('In the style of' Mishca Barton, Keira Knightley, Lindsay Lohan, Rachel Bilson, Sienna Miller, Nicole Richie, Peaches Geldof to name but a few). Some items are even identical to the piece's worn by the celebs.....commonly refered to as "as seen on"......
The site is divided into sections seperating the different categories; Womens Collection (clothing), Denim, ASOS Petite, Shoes, Accessories, Jewellery, Lingerie & Nightwear, Swimwear, Beauty and Home & Gifts. You click on the link that you want, e.g. Women's Collection, here you are presented with all the categories of clothes, e.g. Knitwear, Day Dresses, Going Out Dresses, Jackets & Coats, Leggings, Skirts, etc - You simply click on your chosen link and you're presented with the different garments on offer. You're then free to sort these how you wish (Whats New, Price Low-High, Price High- Low, View All...)
I have been using this website for years and have purchased many great items of clothing, footwear and jewellery along the way (I'm still commented on a great pair of unique funky silver boots I brought a few years back - EVERYONE asks where I brought them!)
Whilst some prices can seem quite high (I recently paid £35 for a gorgeous waistcoat by Public Beware which seemed a lot to pay for such a small item....) You are often paying for the branding and quality of the item, and when you put your money into something branded & high quality, you know it'll last you for a long time (that's what I told myself when clicking the buy button for the waistcoat anyway!)
Thus, branded items can be quite highly priced, but some of it can be really reasonable, so you have to keep an eye out for bargains, as they will sell out pretty fast..... The non branded items are also made to a good quality and there's always cheaper versions of catwalk style pieces to buy. I've often brought cool tops and tshirts for less than £10.
The jewellery on Asos is great too - they sell lots of unique style pieces, I brought a pair of Tinkerbell silver earrings once, where one earring was Tink and the other was a star, it really made a nice change to usual earrings. Also there are often matching pieces (they sold a Tink necklace that matched my earrings aswell!).... So it's really easy to match your earrings with a necklace, or a bracelet with a ring etc.
The Clearance section on the site is currently still up and has been for a few months, though as you can imagine the out of this world bargains have probably gone, however still some great items on there to snap up at great prices! There are some really pretty going out dresses from French Connection on there, maybe a bit cold for winter but for next summer's wardrobe - get buying!
Asos is not just for women, there is an Asos Man section to the site selling the latest in Men's fashion - jeans, shirts, t-shirts, shoes and grooming products can all be found here for the fashion concious male! And, like the women's section there are branded and non-branded items & a clearance section too.
You can often find online discount vouchers for Asos which can give 10%, 15% and even 20% off of your final purchase, or even free P&P - these vouchers are great - especiailly if you can't stop adding things to your basket! You can usually find these by using a search engine like Google or Yahoo..... or checking out the money saving expert website....
The only fault I have with Asos is that if you return an item for any reason, you have to cover your own postage.....there is no prepaid returns label like many other shopping sites.
All in all the site is a great place to visit and shop on, it brings all the different styles and types of clothing, footwear, beauty products and accesories you could ever need into one easy to navigate website.

Before having this album in my hands, I must say I was slightly worried that second album syndrome would rear it's ugly head, especially being a huge fan of KT's debut album Eye To The Telescope.. But within moments of hearing the first track I was relieved to find this wouldn't be the case.
KT seems to have made a, what I can only describe as flawless transition to the next chapter.
Like the first album, each song takes you on a wonderful journey from start to finish, a great mixed bag of tunes to enjoy!
For me on first listen, the songs that seemed to stand out instantly were the first single, Hold On, Saving My Face, Funnyman, Little Favours, and If Only, it took me a few more listens to truly appreciate the beauty of the more mellow tracks such as "White Bird" "Someday Soon" & the simply beautiful "Paper Aeroplane". After playing the CD over and over numerous times I have realised it's not easy to pinpoint a favourite track, as each one is as great as the next in it's own unique and magical way. However, on my latest listen Saving My Face was at top rank, though next time it'll be Funnyman, and the time after that If Only......and so on.....
As Cliché as it sounds, there is certainly something for everyone on this album. You are most definitely missing out if this isn't part of your CD collection already!
A sensational second album from Miss Tunstall to say the very least. Well done!
Before starting work at my current job I had never even heard of VOIP, let alone a Snom! The Snom 360 is a voip phone (voice over ip address) and works on the power of internet.
Voip phones give you much cheaper calls both to the UK and worldwide, so it's definatly a money saver, especially for businesses.
The handset itself is very modern and slick. A professional black colour, with many different functions - call transfer, hold, multiple call reciever etc. We have a chain of them at work that are all synchronised to each other, so when a call comes in it can easily be transferred to whichever phone it needs to be.
This function was set up using the online menu. There is a question mark button on the hand set, that when pressed reveals that particular phones IP address. You simply type that into your web browser and that phones interface will come up on screen. The interface is primarilly the 'information hub' of the phone. You can do many things from changing the ringtone, to adding contacts to the address book, aswell as setting up the phone to transfer calls to other Snoms here.
The Snom needs to be connected to a power socket, a computer, and an open internet connection. This is done through the use of 2 ethernet cables. One end of one ethernet cable plugs into the back of the phone and the other to your computer, the other cable plugs into the back of the phone and then into your internet connection (this could be directly into an adsl router).
The phone connection relys on your internet connection to function properly. Thus, if your internet connection goes down, you've guessed it ...so does your Snom! We've had this problem quite a bit at work over the months, but on upgrading to a faster more reliable internet connection - voila!...problem solved. If your internet connection is good you get a fantastically clear line.
The thing about voip is it allows you to connect with colleagues, friends and family all over the world by the amazing use of internet. And as mentioned earlier you can save a bucket load on phone calls! Each Snom has it's own number and if you call that number directly from another Snom, calls are free! (as used at work very successfully!).
Although calls are very cheap the product itself is a little pricey, and rightly so as you're paying for a quality product that will last years and save you a heck of a lot of money along the way. At present our phone provider sells them to us for £260 each.
More Christmas than you can shake a stick at. Hanson's Snowed In features some great covers of classic festive songs aswell as some of the bands self penned tracks.
An 11 track Christmas album produced by Mark Hudson and the second ever Hanson album to be released, back in 1997.
Although released some years back now, the tracks are still as modern and fresh as ever and will last for Christmasses to come.
1. Merry Christmas Baby
Kicking it off with an upbeat, fun track, with great tinking of keyboard and lead vocals by Taylor
2. What Christmas Means to Me
jingly jingle bells, upbeat, this one will have you out of your seat, lead vocal by a very excited Zac
3. Little Saint Nick
Another upbeat cover lots of guitar and drums with Ike on lead vocals and great backing harmonies from the other boys
4. At Christmas
Ike on lead and self penned by Hanson - nice slow tune, although the verses are a bit depressing sounding! Not one for the Christmas office party - nice chorus though!
5. Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)
Fantastic festive cover to get you in the Crimbo mood. Taylor on lead. Meaningful lyrics...aww.
6. Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree
Once again Zac getting over excited at the thought
of mince pies, and giving it his all on this one. Funky, upbeat rocky version of this classic. Alltogether now....
7. Christmas Time
Another written by Hanson, this is definalty one of, if not the best on the whole album. A beautiful ballad with each boy taking turns on lead. Bit of an anthem!
8. Everybody Knows The Claus
Written by Hanson - not taking themselves too seriously here, a fun and very rocky tune with lots of funny lyrics.
9. Run Rudolph Run
Very fast paced and fun version of this classic. Some great instrumentals in the middle with the boys showing off what they're really made of. Ike perhaps a little too jolly (tis the season afterall) insisting that "Tay kick it one for Christmas baby".
10. Silent Night Medley
Absolutly beautiful - featuring a medley of O Holy Night, Silent Night and O Come All Ye Faithful - a really nice and original combination of these songs.
11. White Chistmas
well it had to be the grand finalé didn't it? No music - just words, sung perfectly by all three.....and if you keep listening until the end you get to hear their little brother make his debut!
All in all one of the best Christmas compilation albums by a music artist to have in your collection.
eBay all the way for Snowed In!
From the Tesco Christmas range comes....
What are they?
Just as the packet states "sweet shortcrust pasty cases filled with sweet mincemeat and topped with a soft icing"
These are by far the best and most original mince pies I've ever tasted. The pastry is moist, soft and sweet to taste. Unlike most mince pies these have no pastry "top" as it were, instead they are topped with a devine layer of sweet white icing. The icing compliments the sweet mixed spice mincemeat incredibly and makes for a fantastic Christmassy taste in your mouth!
What's in them?
Mincemeat, fondant, wheat flour, vegetable oil, sugar, milk protein, salt , raising agent, emulsifier, colour.
Trace of salt.
They are suitable for vegetarians.
These pies contain milk, wheat, gluten and sulphites and although the recipe is nut free it cannot be guaranteed that some naughty nuts have not snuck themselves in. Lets face it what ingredient wouldn't want to be part of this amazing recipe!
Very festive, lots of warm red tones. The pies are centre of attention and decorated with some holly to add that extra Christmassy touch.
A pack of six pies will only set you back 98p (16p each!) - Grab yourself a delicious bargain this Christmas at Tesco!
Merry Christmas x
The Frijj Chocolate Fudge Brownie milkshake is in my opinion the best flavour from the entire range.
The milkshake is made with fresh milk and is surprisngly less than 3% fat. It is also gluten free and suitable for vegetarians.
The consistancy is thick and creamy and the taste is devine. A combination of rich chocolate and fudge syrupy fudge flavour. Ideal for chocoholics looking for an (almost!) guilt free fix.
The packaging is really nice; bright colourful and eye catching if a little bit childish. The design is The Simpsons.
The chocolate fudge brownie shake was originally a limited edition earlier in the year but I've been seeing quite a few of them in stores lately.
The currect price at Tesco is 87p.
A DEFINATE 5 STAR!
Whole milk, skimmed milk, sugar, buttermilk powder, modified maize starch, fat reduced cocoa powder, glucose syrup, natural flavourings, stabilisers, colour, salt.
Preperation time: 20 mins
Cooking time: aprrox 1 hr
You will need:
smoked streaky bacon
Cooking oil (spray works best I find)
For the batter:
125g plain flour
2 large eggs
150ml semi-skimmed milk
1. Preheat the over to gas mark 7. Wrap each saasage tightly in a slice of bacon and arrange in an oven dish.
2. Spray with a little cooking oil and bake for 15 mins until they start to brown.
3. While sausages are cooking, make the batter. Mix the milk with an equal amount of cold water.
4. Sift flour into a bowl, make a well in the middle and pour in the eggs. Now gradually beat in half of the milk/water mixture with a wooden spoon. Beat well for a few mins and then gradually add the remaining mixture until you have a smooth batter.
5. Remove sausages from oven and pour the batter over them, return to the over for another 35-40 mins or until batter rises and is golden brown.
6. Make up your gravy.
7. Serve the toad in the hole with hot gravy, mashed potato goes great with this dish.
What is it?
Cupcake is one of Lush's best selling facemasks. It is freshly prepared (as are all of Lush's masks) and is especially suitable for skin prone to outbreaks.
Why should I buy it?
It smells good, it's good for your skin and great for preventing and soothing breakout and problem skin.
How do I use it?
Wash your face thoroughly as you normally would. Apply an even layer of Cupcake to your face and neck, avoiding the eye area (it's quite thick so you'll need to spread it as evenlly as you can - don't be affraid to get your hands messy).
Leave it on your face for 5-10 mins - if you've got time cut some cucumber slices to put over your eyes and lay down to experience the full relaxing factor.
It's best not to move your face too much as this will make the mask crack and in no time your floor will be filled with chocolately flakes.
When the 5-10 mins are up wash off with warm water and pat dry with a towel.
How will I feel after?
Your skin will feel thoroughly cleansed and soft and smooth to touch. In the coming days you may find you get a few spots come out - that's because the face mask deep cleans to remove trapped oil and dirt. Your should notice a few days after you've used the mask your skin is clear and fresh looking....juts in time to use it again!
Can I eat it?
Although it smells good enough to eat, unfortunatly this is one chocolatey treat that's for your skin only.
Because Lush face masks are made with fresh ingredients they need to be stored in the fridge. They also come with an expiry date which will be on the tub. Although if the mask still looks useable after the expiry date then you can get away with it for a while.
Will it hurt my pocket?
In stores Lush is priced at £3.50 which is very reasonable. You get about 6 applications - more or less depending on how much you use.
On the Lush website you pay £5.00. (www.lush.co.uk)
Rhassoul Mud, Linseed Infusion (Linum usitatissimum), Glycerine, Talc, Cocoa Powder (Theobroma cacao), Cocoa Butter (Theobroma cacao), Fresh Mint (Mentha piperita), Sandalwood Oil (Santalum album), Vanilla Absolute (Vanilla planifolia), Spearmint Oil (Mentha viridis), Peppermint Oil (Mentha piperita), Limonene, Perfume.
All in all a great buy and a must have for all chocoholics! This one wont break the scales!
This is a great cocktail - perfect for parties or entertaining guests over dinner. It's an old classic that's changed a bit in its time (previously made with gin rather than vodka and grenadine and lemon juice instead of cranberry and grapefruit juice - trivia!)
On with the show:
You'll need (Per cocktail):
5 crushed ice cubes
1 measure vodka
1.5 measures cranberry juice
1.5 measures fresh grapefruit juice
slice of lime
Put the crushed ice into a tall glass (a decent one with a bit of character!). Pour over the vodka, cranberry juice and grapefruit juice - stir well. Decorate with a slice of lime and serve with a straw - easy peasy - and yummy!
Tigi's Oatmeal & Honey shampoo which it's packaging states is "comfort food for damged hair" is just that.
Whether you suffer from dry hair, split ends, damage from other hair treatments such as colouring or bleaching, this shampoo will improve your hair after just one wash.
I first came across this shampoo whilst having my hair cut at my usual salon - Toni & Guy. The salon assistant began to wash my hair and I could smell a gorgeous aroma - the shampoo. After she'd washed and conditioned my hair I asked her a few questions one of which was what shampoo did she use on my hair. It was the Oatmeal and Honey by Tigi.
I had often used Tigi products such as shine spray, serum and conditioning treatments but had not tried one of their shampoos. Whilst paying for my hair cut I also picked up a bottle of this shampoo and wondered if I could create the same amazing expereince I had just had at home.
Just like any other shampoo you wet your hair and take a small 2p sized amount of the shampoo and massge it through your head and hair thoroughly. Whilst lathering the shampoo through your hair take a moment to inhale the beautiful smell of the sweet honey and oatmeal combination. It really smells so good you'll want to eat it (see: comfort FOOD for hair). It leaves your hair smelling fantastic, soft, shiny and rejuvinated. Use with the Oatmeal & Honey conditioner for even more benefits.
The bottle I usually buy is a standard size of 350ml and it lasts me a good few months and a good job too as it is a little pricey. But you are definatly paying for quality here. It's usually around £8.75 for a 350ml bottle, and as Tigi is only sold in professional salons you know you're buying into a quality product. You can also buy online via the official Tigi site(www.tigihaircare.com). You'll also probably be able to get a good deal on eBay.
Tigi oatmeal and honey shampoo is from Tigi's "Catwalk" range and helps improve chemically treated or damaged hair with Vitamns A, B & E whil enhancing moisure and shine.
This is a really quick and simple way that I use to make Spaghetti Carbonara..... It's quick & easy and tastes fantastic.
It will take about 8 mins to prepare and 10 mins to cook. (and about 2 mins to eat!)
450g Spaghetti (fresh or dry)
salt and black pepper
225g diced smoked ham
3 eggs beaten
300ml double cream
50g grated parmesan cheese
2tbsp chopped fresh parsley to garnish
~Step By Step~
1. Boil a large pan of salted water.
2. Add pasta to boiling water and leave to cook.
3. Meanwhile, melt butter in another large pan.
4. Add the ham to the butter and cook for 5 mins, stiring occasionally or until slightly brown.
5. Beat together the eggs, cream, and salt and pepper until well blended. Now add this to the pan and cook for 2 mins, whilst stiring constantly. The mixture should thicken but make sure it does not scramble.
6. Add parmesan and cook for a further minute.
7. Drain the pasta well and place into a large warmeed bowl.
8. Pour over sauce and toss well to mix everything throroughly.
9. Scatter with chopped fresh parsely to garnish.
10. Serve on it's own or with a light salad to make up for all those calories!
And there it is..... you can also use diced smokey bacon instead of ham, this gives a variation on flavour and is still just as nice.
Hope you enjoy!
Here's how to make your own delicious sticky toffee pudding from scratch.....
I've done this tons of times and it gets better with each one!
175g butter (plus extra to grease)
175g muscavado sugar
3tbsp golden syrup
2 eggs beaten
100g self raising flour
pinch of salt
Step by Step:
1. Firstly you'll need to preheat your oven to Gas Mark 4.
2. Grease a 2 pint pudding basin with some butter.
3. Heat 50g of butter, 50g of sugar and the golden syrup in a pan over a low heat until smooth.
4. Pour half the sauce into the basin and put the remaining sauce to one side for later.
5. Melt the rest of the butter and sugar in a heavy based pan. Remove from heat and allow to cool for 10 mins.
6. Now mix in the eggs to the butter and sugar mix.
7.In a large bowl sift the flour and salt. Make a well in the centre and pour in the melted mixture and stir until all is combined.
8. Spoon micture into the basin.
9. Bake for 40-45 mins or until it's springy to touch.
10. Run a knife around the edge and carefully turn out onto a large plate.
11. Reheat the reserved sauce and pour over the pudding and serve.
Although nice on it's own you can also serve with some vanilla ice cream for an added touch.... yummy!
Having recently visited Brighton Pier I was pleasantly surprised and very impressed.
The Pier is the main focas of Brighton seafront with all the main attractions on board this wonderful stretch.
The Pier is, unlike some piers, free of charge to enter and there is definatly fun for all the family to be had here.
It is open all year round from 9am with attractions closing around 11pm. There are plenty of things to do and plenty of seats to take the weight off your feet when you've finished. (Free deckchairs also!)
The Palace of Fun Arcade is jam packed with video games, slot machines, cranes and a whole host of other fun arcade attractions. Pennies can easily slip away here so it's best to put a limit on how much you're willing to spend.
The Funfair has a mix of thrilling, fun (and heart stopping!) rides such as the waltzers (don't get in car 10 unless you're willing to sacrifice your life like I was!), a rollercoster, a log flume, dodgems and much more. Payments for these rides are by tokens available from the token stand or token machines near the rides. Tokens are 50p each and a ride usually costs between 4-6 tokens.
Side Stalls - the Piers fun fair side stalls are a place to try and win prizes in games such as tin can alley, hook a bag & basketball. Prizes range from small to gigantic sized cuddly toys. Please note: Skill and persistance is needed along with a big wallet full of cash.
Food - snack stalls are a plenty on the pier. But the best place to eat a meal is the Palm Court Restaurant serving the best fish and chips you will ever taste. The cod seems as though it's just been caught by staff fishing over the side of the pier and thrown in with a bit of batter. The chips are amazingly fresh and tasty also. And for £3.95 for cod and chips to takeaway you can't complain. You can also dine in for a little bit more, but take away is just as good (and cheaper) as you can sit at the tables outside. On the opposite side of the restaurant is a nice friendly pub where you can get a refreshing drink to wash your meal down with.
On the snack stalls there are burgers, hot dogs, pizza, crepes, chinese, and donuts - you're never far from the smell of donutty goodness!
There is also a small gift shop selling little novelties and the Rock Shop - selling, believe it or not rock. Rock in every colour and flavour you can imagine. Think Charlie and the Rockolate Factory. They also do delicious fudge (starwberry & cream flavour!) and there is always special deals on offer.
During the month of August there is a firework display every Saturday from 9.30pm at the end of the pier.
All in all Brighton Pier is great fun and has some great views of the pebble beach and sea, definatly some kodak moments about! The Pier can even be used for functions such as birthday parties and weddings.
National Express coaches from London to Brighton start at £1 each way, so why wait?
This is a great little recipe I'd like to share. It's ready to eat in under half hour and tastes fantastic.
It gives a nice kick to standard chicken and adds a bit of variety.
Chicken (any kind you like, I think it works best with breast or legs but you can also use thighs)
2tbsp vegetable oil
salt and black pepper
2tbsp clear honey (blended types tend to have a stronger flavour)
juice of 1/2 a lemon
Step by Step
1. Preheat your grill to high.
2. Wash chicken pieces and brush with a little of the vegetable oil and season with salt and pepper.
3. In a small bowel mix the rest of the oil with the honey and lemon juice for a few mins.
4. Brush over the chicken with half of the honey mixture.
5. Grill the chicken for 8-10 mins.
6. Brush chicken with the remaining honey mixture and gril for a further 6-8 mins or until cooked through.
7. Serve hot or cold with vegetables or salad.
And there it is in a nutshell. Quick and easy and very very nice!
This makes a lovely side dish, or can be served in bigger portions as a main meal. I've done both in the past and it always goes down a treat. The red pepper gives it a nice twist....Very tasty!
1 Cauliflour (try and get quite a large one)
1 tbsp vegetable oil
1 red pepper
50g plain flour
1/2 tbsp mustard powder
225g grated Cheddar Cheese
This will take about 10 mins to prepare, and 30 mins to cook. It will serve 4 people...
Step by Step:
1. Boil a large pan of water. Meanwhile, cut the cauliflour into florets. Add to water and cook for about 10 mins/until tender.
2. Heat the vegetable oil in a frying pan. Slice the red pepper and leek and fry both for 5 mins.
3. Stir the flour and mustard powder into the frying pan and cook for about 2 mins, stirring. Remove the pan from the hob and gradually add in the milk and stir until well blended. Now return the pan to the heat and bring to the boil, stirring until it thickens.
4. Stir in 175g of the cheddar cheese and a sprinkling of black pepper. Cook for 2 mins whilst stirring until the cheese melts.
5. Preheat the grill. Put the cauliflour in an ovenproof dish, spoon over the cheese sauce and sprinkle with the reamining grated cheese. Grill for 5 mins or until golden brown and voila.....yummy cauliflour cheese!
