My last phone was there to serve a purpose, I could call and text and that was about it. It did the job and I was happy or so I thought. My time to upgrade came and the kind phone people called me and told me what I was eligible for, the choice was between the Blackberry and the iPhone. I choose the iPhone.
Wow. This was probably one of the best decisions I have made. The iPhone has seriously changed my life. I cannot believe how I ever lived without and I thought I was happy!! This beautiful piece of technology now never leaves my side.
I love everything about it, the apps that you can get are brilliant. I can now find out what the weather is going to be like that day, sell things on ebay, launch sheep in the air and turn my friends fat. Yes some apps are sheer indulgence and just for fun but some are just really useful and make my life much easier!
The iPhone has a touch screen and a touch keypad for when you are typing text messages or on the internet and it really is easy to use.
You can sync the iPhone with your iPod so you have a phone and music player in one. I cant detail enough all the things you can do! From someone who just had a phone that could call and text, I am now an iPhone addict. I will never again look at another phone or regard a phone as just for use, yes the iPhone is a gadget but my is it good!
Mascara means alot to me. Its the one beauty item that I cannot live without so its very important that I use a mascara that I love and this my friends is it. I have been there and tried that in the mascara world and I have now found my life long partner and one I can't be without: Lancome Hypnose Waterproof Mascara .
This mascara is really worth committing too. Its on the higher end of the mascara market retailing at over £20.00 but worth the buy. It has an easy applicator wand and the consistency is just right, not too thin and too 'gloopy' Lancome Hypnose Waterproof Mascara gives really thick lashes and lengthens them at the same time without leaving that spidery effect that I really dislike.
Lancome Hypnose Waterproof Mascara works as to seperate every lash and create a really astonishing look that makes you stand out from the crowd! For a more dramatic effect you can apply more layers and gives the lashes a more defined and sculptured look.
You only need to use a small amount and not put the wand in the mascara too many times otherwise too much goes onto the lashes.
The design of the mascara is really nice too, sleek black with gold coloured writing and the blue rim to indicate the waterproof element, it looks very snazzy in my make up bag!
The one drawback of this mascara is the fact that it can be quite difficult to get off being waterproof you do need to use a really good eye make remover. If this is a problem for you though you can always just buy the non-waterproof version. It really is one of the better waterproof mascaras though hence why its harder to remove, I have cried buckets wearing this and it has not moved an inch!
The Philosophy range I believe is targeted at more the premium beauty buyers as its mostly stocked in John Lewis and Selfridges and is at the higher end of the pricing market. So is it worth it? Heres hoping.....
I was given this as a gift and felt the need to right a review to give my view on the product. Hope in a Jar's original formula was first created for the medical market, using an ingredient that plastic surgeons swore by and not originially created as a beauty product available in department stores. Yet now it is considered to be a world-renowned skin cream and bought by beauty babes all over the world.
As for ingredients it contains beta glucan, a powerful antioxidant, which enhances skin immunology; and lactic acid, which gently exfoliates skin to reveal smoother, healthier looking skin.
The lactic acid sounds scary I admit and once I read the list and saw "acid" I was concerned. After doing some research I found that this was why it was used in the medical market and what for years, plastic surgeons have been recommending to patients who were in pursuit of younger looking skin without the need for surgery.
I did go on to use this product and I felt that I could see results within a few days of me using this and it left my skin with a healthy, rosy glow and made me feel and look younger. Using Hope in a Jar was a good move on my part as I didn't have to use foundation or heavy make up. I ask for a little bit of Hope every Christmas now.
This has been a beauty classic my household for years, my Gran and my mom always had this on their dresser and I guess their wisdom has been passed down to me.
Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream is classic and must have beauty bag essential. This skin protectant is a classic cream that soothes, restores, calms and helps relieve chapped, cracked and dry skin. I use this everywhere but mainly on my lips as it protects them from the earths elements, provides a nice shiny glow and smells divine.
Its also great for minor skin problems, I suffer from eczema and its great on my hands and feet too, it really does soothe and makes cracked skin much much better. It is slightly pricey but well worth it and seeing as my Gran and mom still use it its suitable for skin types young and old. Its not only a must have in my family I know some celebrities (Mylene Klass) and make up artists swear by it also. Its such a dynamic and useful product as has so many uses it can be used on nails, insect bites, dry skin, chapped lips to name but a few!
BeneFit Moon Beam is designed to enhance and reflect the light off areas of your face you want the light to fall. Its best used on cheeks, the tip of your nose and just below your eyebrow for the most dramatic effect.
It comes in a nail varnish type bottle with an easy screw top, which attached to that is the small applicator brush. Best results I find are when you apply small amounts to the areas mentioned above, too much and you can look too shiny.
BeneFit Moon Beam is an intricate mix of gold and pink highlights which exaggerate those areas of your face that you want people to focus on. I use this daily and apply abit more for nights out! It really is a fab little product, slightly more pricey than some of the highlighters available but as its a BeneFit product you are paying for quality. I bought one of these just after Christmas and I still have loads left, because you only need to apply a small amount the product lasts!
BeneFit Moon Beam adds a lovely glow to your complexion and is definitely worth an investment!
Avid fake tan users take note: this product will not cause streaking or orange like complexion!
I have been using Clarins Self Tanning Milk for years and compared to other branded fake tans ( St Tropez, Fake Bake & No7 to name but a few) I really have found this to be the best on the tanning shelves! From a fake tan I want to achieve a healthy bronzed 'glow' and not look orange, Clarins Self Tanning Milk fits my requirements exactly.
Its easy to apply (but always exfoliate first for best results) and it comes out as a white cream, its like applying suntan cream. Its thick enough to feel where you've applied but doesn't have that sticky feeling.
The smell is ok, I am yet to use a fake tan that doesn't resemble soggy biscuits but in all honesty Clarins Self Tanning Milk smells a lot better than some of the others I have used. I'm not saying its odourless but it wont have you needing to change the sheets or have people saying you stink.
I always use this just before going to bed because it dries so quickly and it develops well over night. For best results I apply a layer the next night as I like to increase my colour.
Clarins Self Tanning Milk is suitable for long time tanners and newbies too, I used this on my 16 year old sister the night before the prom and it looked lovely on her, just the right glow while her friends that had used other tanning well they looked like they'd been tangoed! It doesnt stick to dry/drier parts of the skin like some fake tans do and it only starts wearing off after about 2 weeks, then I notice slight patches on my elbows or knees but overall it last ages.
The added bonus of the SPF6 I think is great especially as we should be encouraging young girls to tan safely and avoid sunbeds! I think this is a fab product that promotes a healthy natural glow to skin!
I was recently given a free sample of this and I was so impressed I am now a regular buyer of this product! It smells divine! It really is the best smelling body lotion that I have used, its a mixture of orange scents and contains bamboo extract. Its the only product that I've used that my boyfriend actually commented on.
I buy the range for normal skin and have had no problems, it moisturises my skin really well, absorbs into my skin quickly and doesnt leave that sticky feeling that some body lotions can. It leaves my skin with a lovely silky feel. It says that it last for 24 hours and I agree the orange scents do last a really long time and my skin still smells fragranced for hours after.
It contains bamboo extract which I believe strengthens my skins natural protection, although it would be good if it had some slight SPF in it for that extra protection. Its described as a feel good sensation and it really does what it says, after applying the lotion I feel amazing my skin feels really soft and moisturised and the gorgeous orange scent lingers on my skin making me feel revitalised.
I had read a review in a magazine about this book and went out and bought it after doing so. I must say I was slightly disappointed, I felt that the writing left me unable to really connect with the characters especially Poppy. I was expecting a gritty read and to have a book that I couldn't put down instead I found myself skipping through pages just to get to the end to find out what happened. Dorothy is a good author ( I have read some of her other books and throughly enjoyed them) but I just felt something was lacking with this novel, the emotional connection perhaps that with such a gritty and hard hitting story line should have been paramount throughout.
Dorothys descriptions of the characters were ok but I just felt it wasn't believable enough and you only got to 'hear' from Marcus' character at the end. The twist at the end I also felt was quite predictable and on the whole I felt let down by this novel, the hype it seems was indeed that.
The title and content are supposed to be ironic I get that, with the connatations of ice cream and sweetness contrasted to the dark storyline of abuse. Some parts of the book were gritty and Dorothy describes some of the scenes with the girls when they are young very well but on the whole I just felt I couldn't connect with the characters and the novel was abit wishy washy which is a shame as it touches on issues such as abuse that need to be addressed in novels such as these and I guess one advantage is that it reaches the more 'rom-com' readers of books and invites discussions on topical issues.
This was a absolute find of mine and one I just have to review to let people know how brilliant this make up remover is. I wear mascara and eyeliner every day and I apply it frequently so I having a good eye make up remover is essential for me! Before using this product I actually used really expensive eye make removers, costing about £10 - £15 a time! I was short of cash one month and needed something cheap to use and I picked this up in a hurry. Since then I have never gone back to using the expensive eye make up removers!
This is an absolutely amazing little product from boots and an absolute steal at the price (Its just over a £1 and is often included on Boots special offers) This is so fab, it doesn't have a strong smell, its light and fresh to use, it removes ALL of the eye make up without leaving any clumps/traces and it does not sting! I have on occasion actually got this in my eye and it was great didn't sting at all! My eye make up comes off on the pad in one go (2 pads if I'm wearing eyeshadow too) and it lasts too. Because it works so well you really do get value for money as you only need a 10 pence piece amount on your cotton wool pad to remove the makeup! Fab fab fab!
This has been a beauty must have of mine since I started wearing make up! I had read about this product in magazines and heard my friends talking about the "Touche effect" and I just had to go and buy it.
I don't actually wear foundation as I feel its too heavy on my face but I do suffer like most woman in their late 20's (ahem) from dark shadows under the eyes. After using this product I must say its amazing! It really does hide those unwanted dark circles. Its easy to use a few clicks and the cream (light in its consistency) comes out and you apply to the under eye with the neat brush which is made up of fine little hairs. I find as long as you don't over click, the black button at the bottom then the product comes out just enough to use. I have one criticism of this and thats in photos it does actually make the under eye look white but apart from that its a fab product which lasts!
