Dont be fooled by the size of the sansa clip +, this is one powerful device!
I recently was gifted one for Christmas and couldnt get over its minature size, along with its
Now, if you are an Apple fanboy (or girl!) this product wont suit you with its simplicity, lack of pretentiousness, and expandability; however, if you are interested in a quality MP3 player
that will withstand day to day use then the Sansa Clip will meet your needs
I find it to be very useful in the gym as the strong clip on the back attaches to a tshirt easily; and the built in FM radio enables me to pick up audio rebroadcasted from several TVs in the gym (eg. Sky Sports 1-4, Eurosport etc.)
The sleek black player can be expanded with microSD cards (I have a 8gb in mine), so you can add to your memory as you see fit, unlike other miniture players. The beauty of the product is that it will integrate both music saved internally and externally as if they were in the same memory giving you one seamless list to all your music.
Music is searchable by Artist, Album, Genre; and the player has its own seperate section for podcasts too; with album art available for showing on the screen which is a nice addition you wouldnt expect from such a reasonably priced device.
No extra software is required to transfer music to the Clip, just open the folder in Windows and drag and drop the music you wish to put on the device.
There is one small niggle however, and that is the volume limit imposed by the EU on MP3 players; to overcome this, set your country to outside of the EU whilst updating the firmware.
Battery life according to the manufacturer is 15 hours, however this will vary according to usage of the backlight and volume.
Overall, if you are thinking of buying an iPod Shuffle or Nano, get the Sansa Clip instead.
Note: if you like tinkering with such things you can install Rockbox, which is a custom firmware which adds extra features, info available at: http://www.rockbox.org/
Here is my method for lifting the volume limits, dont worry, It wont erase any of you music be it
on the device or microsd:
1.Turn on your Sansa Clip
2.Make a note of any settings you would like to keep (we're going to reset them in a minute)
3.Select 'Settings' from the main menu
4.Select 'Reset All'
6.Select your language of choice (English for me)
7.Select 'Rest of World' as your region
Following chemotherapy, warts had taken over my two feet; the doctor suggested I try Wartner over-the-counter as he deemed it to be effective.
I was a bit disappointed as it was quite expensive and I didnt see any major results; before you ask, I followed the instructions to a T, and the product only did minor damage to the warts, and the eventually grew to the same size. I also feel the product made no cosmetic difference to the warts when applied (the leaflet says to expect blistering); therefore I would have to rate it as ineffective.
I would recommend if you are considering this product to save your money and spend it on high strength salicylic acid cream (Bazuka for example), and invest in a special "corn" knife which are easily found in the chemist. To me, that is an old fashioned yet very effective treatment, although you may have to persist for a few weeks
I moved into a university residence complex of apartments in September where internet is supplied only by Ethernet, which left me with the problem of not being able to use my Android phone or tablet online.
After searching around the web and asking for friend's reccomendations I settled on the WR702N to enable WIFI in my appartment.
when the package arrived I couldn't get over how tiny the device actually is, and come with a flat short Ethernet cable and a mains plug that can also power the device by USB if you so wish. Setting up is effortless, you don't have to go near the admin panel of the router if you don't want to, plug in and play, the device itself is pre-configured as an access point, which is the function I require. Setting up on my devices was a matter of entering the default password found underneath the device on a sticker, although it is advisable to change this through the routers admin page; as too is maybe not broadcasting the SSID if you don't want anybody snooping on your network.
In summary this is a brilliant device with so many functions for the price, highly recommended!
I discovered HUKD (as it is affectionately known) about two years ago and have checked it on a daily basis ever since! It is a community driven website whereby members can post deals, with the other members voting on whether is a Hot or Cold deal.
I have found it very useful in obtaining items I normally would not be able to justify buying at normal prices, eg. Logitech Universal Remotes; and also the freebie section is a must-visit for not only tacky promotional items but useful stuff you would actually pay for!
There is also an active forum where a various range of subjects are discussed, and also the new "Ask" forum whereby you can ask members of the site a question (perhaps you are having difficulty setting up a new product for example), and replies are usually quick and friendly.
The Competitions section also lists competitions that are free to enter though I find entering so many competitions with very little return, a tiresome endeavor
Being a university student having a good supply of coffee is a must for late night cramming; but there is only so much instant coffee you can put up with! I looked at buying a bodum cafietiere but on a student's budget I couldn't really justify the high price, that is where the Smartcafé Mug came to my rescue!
Having read reviews on Amazon I decided to take the plunge and ordered one for roughly £6, it has changed my coffee drinking forever!
It is such a simple yet innovative device, you insert your coffee into the bottom of the mug then after you have let it sit for the desired amount of time, load the press filter into its slot and push down slowly, the press will then slot into the mug and out of your way so you can enjoy your beverage without being hindered
Another feature that people over look is that the cup appears to be insulated and keeps your drinks warmer than a normal mug, and can also be used for any hot beverage, not just coffee!
Some tips about using the device to get optimal performance
MOST IMPORTANT: Always keep it dry!
- This is to ensure that your coffee doesn't stick to the sides
What this isnt, is a travel mug, as there is no lid so to speak to keep liquid from spilling when you are out and about; think of the product as a convenient alternative to a Bodum (or similar) french press, which are quite pricey. This is a perfect introduction to the world of "real" coffee, better than the instant muck! Trust me, I bought mine after christmas, and havent looked back since!
A quick word on cleaning the product, the only real problem in cleaning the product is if you leave it sitting overnight after using it coffee can stick to the underside of the filter making it slightly difficult to clean but it isnt a major issue.
Also, if you are using it for any other liquid without the filter in, be careful as liquid could escape all over your face when tilting it towards your mouth due to the "track" where the filter slides in not being occupied!
Huawei Ascend G300
A lot of you may not have heard of Huawei before, but chances are you have used their technology already, as most mobile broadband modems are of Huawei manufacture; and they also serve 45 out of 50 of the world's largest telecom operators, needless to say, when I was gifted their first major consumer mobile phone for the UK market, I was excited to see what they came up with.
The first impression of handling the phone itself was its generous screen size coupled with an ergonomic design that fits in your hand perfectly; despite the large screen size it does not feel cumbersome and weighty like similar phones, yet feels sturdy; luckily it has gorilla glass to protect the front from scrapes and falls
The phone runs Android version 2.3.6 (Gingerbread), turning it on, the screen hits you with vivid colours of the Huawei logo, and runs you through a quick setup process to get you up and running, including a handy tutorial on the inbuilt text input TouchPal. Dont let the poor English in the tutorial fool you, ("This input method so many killing features so that you can input very fast on your phone!") this is an excellent input method especially for texting; for example swipe up on the "a" key to get a capital A, swipe downward to get the number or symbol displayed on the virtual button, press the virtual button to get a lowercase letter; its truely genius.
There are 5 different home screens which can be swiped through in rotation, with a fast 1ghz processor and responsive touch screen there is hardly in lag in transition between screens; hard to imagine my first computer in 1996 had less power, and it was an unsightly thing that weighed a tonne! Under the hood also is a 5 megapixel camera, which serves a casual photographer well, so you can upload the latest high quality snaps of your night out to your Facebook account in no time; just as well then the Facebook app is installed as standard, along with other apps that integrate well such as Twitter and Maps, which uses the phone's built in gps functionality.
Speaking of apps, the phone comes with android marketplace which on its first run will update to the newer Google Play, so I was up and running with my all time favourite Angry Birds in no time. The phone also conveniently listed all the apps I currently had on my last Android phone so I could migrate them to the G300; the Youtube app took particular advantage of the large 480x800 pixel screen. A particular nifty feature was a warning if I was losing my wifi connection, and that any futher internet activity would incur charges. Another nifty feature was the circular 4-way screen unlock which lets you get straight into activities such as taking a photo, unfortunately the selection of the four activities is not customisable.
The phone is upgradeable to a newer version of Android (Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0) which adds to the attractiveness of purchasing this phone
