4 years ago I thought I had no need for sky and just allowed the days to pass me by with a freeview box and a handfull of channels to watch each evening, now the worlds my oyster!!
I have the full hd package with sports and movies (6 months half price if you threaten to leave!) and you get literally hundreds of channels to watch, and although quite a few of them are just repeats you watched 5 years ago (on your freeview box) there are still a lot of good stuff to watch on sky, such as sky one (my favourite) which always has the latest series to watch!
As for the machine itself, whilst on standby it has always switched on instantaneously when using the remote control, but if you power off it takes a while longer. The picture quality on the hd channels (some free such as bbc hd) are outstanding, just like being on the set yourself!
I have the 500gb box and trust me, unless you are recording every hour you will struggle to fill this beast! 500gb is roughly around 500 hours of tv recording.
go shopping for the best sky deal, i recommend going through Topcashback.co.uk as they offer cashback as well
THis 600hz HD Ready Plasma TV with 6,000,000 : 1 Dynamic Contrast (Yes, 6 million!!) is great for the fast moving entertainment such as Sports or Action Films, this doubles with any half decent connection via a hdmi lead to lets say a sky box gives you great clarity pictures - plasma tv's tend to smooth the picture out a lot more than lcd's especially in and environment such as above (sports or movies or even your playstation / xbox).
THis model also has 2 x hdmi links and Simplink, as well as a Ci+ slot for pay-to-view tv (ESPN, Gold etc) - this means that you can pay to get the extra channels not normally available on freeview!
There are newer models out there but this one for me represents greater value for money (<£300), plasmas are where the value are at the minute whilst lcds you tend to notice the lower end of the market coming in at the same sort of price, but with lg you are guaranteed reliability and quality of build.
Summary: value 9/10, quality 9/10
p.s. does weigh over 20kg so be carefull when you pick up
Despite all the problems with Beko in the newspapers etc I decided to still buy one because they offered the most value for money and the biggest asmount of room for price. I bought this for a bargain price of £249 (cheap 2 years ago) and have NEVER (touch wood!!) had any problenms with it, it nevers makes much of a noise above a whisper and becuse it is a frost free model it saves me from spending my Sunday mornings chipping away at the icebergs in my freezer! it was one of very few models at the time which offered a 50/50 split between fridge and freezer offering me extra freezer sppace I need for that weekly frozen shop - before i only had room for a pack of chips, a few burgers and some peas (not healthy living i know) but now i can do a full frozen shop (mostly from iceland ;-)) and put all in different compartments making it easier to get back out ready for cooking.
If this was still on the market i would recommend as offers great value for money
Bought this TV for bedroom like a lot of others, as most of you know these are only mainly available at Argos now! This TV is very basic and I am on my second one now as the first one started to 'pixelate' leaving little green squares on the screen making the picture hard to watch - a couple of good things about this are price (<£100) and the jet black it comes in. The remote to tv contact seems slow (when you press a button it takes the TV a second or two to react and even though it is hd ready the picture quality isnt great.
If I had a second opportunity then I probably would have bought a different tv as wouldnt want to be buying extra guarantee's to cover any problems.
The TV's in-built free-view system was a nightmare to set-up and kept cancelleing itself so I had to re-start several times, and when it was finally set-up we found that channels had been missed so we had to add them manually
The Sony VAIO E series is 1 of the fastest and desirable laptops on the market! The processor technology Sony use is second to no one else, as they are always up with the times! This doubled up with 6gb of ram and a 500gb hard drive you have a monster of a laptop that you can take anywhere and complete almost any task! The inclusion of office 2010 is a bonus which makes an already powerful laptop even harder to refuse!
The Contruction is typically Sony, not MAC standards but under half the price!
You should get a good 2-3 hours of action before needing to re-charge the batteries, long enough to watch your favourite film you have just downloaded on the massive 17.3" screen
For me, if its a 'run of the mill' laptop you are after then look elsehwere as there are more value for money units available, but if its quality and high power you are after then look no where else other than Sony!
Bought this product a while back and for sound quality v's valuje for money you cant get better than Philips! Tries this unit with film war of the worlds originally and the sound quality was megatastic!! As a bonus it upscales the original dvd quality to 1080i - a noticable difference from the usual scart connection, playing any format without interruption or chink in picture quality. It will play virtually every format such as dvd's, cd's, vcd's and with itys 6 channels (6.1) audio playback will sound as though you are in the cinema itself - a word of warning though, try not to annoy the neighbours too much, lol!
This is definately one for the lads, it comes in the sleek back shiny colour which will match any lcd tv / stand on offer today. It will also connect to any games console so that you can play games not only in hi-def but surround sound too!
I dont normally go for samsung phones (am an apple iphone man) but I have to say that the tech on these samsungs are more user friendly than on the iphones and therefore easier to use and get one with - will definately upgrade to a higher spec samsung when my contract runs out! The 3g internet connection makes browsing a lot quicker making for a better experience on the internet, you can purchase literally millions of music downloads from the samsung hub or use the readers hub to find your next novel or book or even read a daily newspaper!
It has a high megapixel camera which enables you to take crystal clear pictures of things you love! The only downside for me is that it takes longer to download apps from the app store than if you were with apple but i suppose you cant have everything eh!
I purchased one of the above at less than £300 2 months ago and have never looked back since. It has everything you need for day to day basis. The crystal ete webcam is of special interest as takes brill pictures and allows users on the other end of a web talk to see clearly who they are speaking to. Despite what othwer users have said, I have had no problem sin loading software or hardware to this acer - Norton and Mcafee are both compatible and available on a free trial basis (recommended), I use Firefox latest software to speed up internet connection and searches. The intel pentium processor, 4gb ram and 500gb hard drive allow this model to be used in several applications at once, ie share dealing (1 of my little passtimes) with up to date graph information, playing music (apple itunes easily downloaded) and emailing or speaking to people online is easily done daily
This laptop made by Hewlett Packard (one of the biggest producers of laptop tech in the world) has the spec that many 'higher' models would be envious of but at a much reduced price. With its Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 15.6" screen and 3gb of ram you will never be short of processor power (unless you are downloading a film, performinf file maintenance, trading shares on the internet, playing online casino and sending an email at the same time of course :-) The manual contains an 'idiot proof' guide on how to use this laptop withj everything you need to know from connecting to the internet, downloading from the internet, security on the internet and first set-up.
Just because this laptop is at a reasonable price doesnt mean you compromise with the spec - as you can see from the description its well worth the money! buy this laptop today!
