--------------The golden tin-----------------
I only ever use L'Oréal's Elnett hairspray, I've tried several other brands but when my hair needs a spray I always rely on this product as it has never let me down. I grew up using this hairspray l and was constantly sneaking into my mums room to sneak a few squirts to make sure my hairstyles would stay neat and it's always had the same classy appearance. Elnett hairspray comes in a metalic gold coloured can with a plastic white lid on the top. On a dark bronze there is a picture of a woman's face wig her hair blowing up into the air. The can is classy and up market looking, it appealed to me all those years ago because it seemed very classy and grown up. It's a good quality product and the sleek bottle reflects the quality of the results well. It comes in a variety of sizes with the biggest and best value being the 400ml bottle which is usually around six pounds wherever you buy it, its easily availible in chemists, supermarkets and online. I also have the small handbagged size which is usually around two pounds and I carry this around to keep my style looking tidy or allowing me to change my look from suitable for work to glam and funky for cocktails!
Offers long lasting hold with brilliant shine and a soft touch?
Elnett hairspray stays true to this promise! I use the extra strength version of the product, there is various other strengths available but I find the super strength version, which is the strongest ,is the only one effective in keeping my fine wispy hair in place. The hold from this hairspray lasts a long time, I often go straight out partying after work or university and find this hairspray manages to last the whole night with me, without flaking or losing it's hold. I have found with other high strength haorapraya that hey either make my hair very hard with a matter appearance or it becomes very wet and greasy looking (only good.if you are looking for a Vikki Pollard type ponytail!) However this haispray gives me a firm hold without appearing to make.my hair solid and stuck together, there is still some movement and it gives a nice natural shine to my hair. I like thay when I wear my hair down and straight my boyfriend can fiddle about and play with my hair without tugging or pulling, this hairspray keeps my hair soft and strokeable!
Leaves hair clean, soft and shiny?
Most hairsprays when I use them leave my hair unworkable and after brushing out the style I get left with a big untamable lions mane of fuzz, not only is the fuzz unsightly it always feels full of tugs and has a strange chemically smell. This hairspray goes against the grain and I find that when I do decide to change my style it only requires some gentle brushing, even it has been backcombed! (my mum always vouches for this quality, saying it made her beehives easier to comb out 'back in the day') this is great as it means if I'm in a hurry to go somewhere but don't have time to wash my hair I can brush out the hairspray and start quickly from scratch! Sometimes when my hair looks greasy I will spray some hairspray on my comb and brush it through my hair, I have found his reduces the greasy appearance and makes it easier to volumise as I always find with the slightest hint of grease my hair will flatten like a skull cap round my head (not a.good look when you have your hair cut in a bob, it resembles a.bowl cut when this happens!). Once I brush out the hairspray it leaves my hair looking healthy.
Protects my hair from the effects of humidity?
I trust L'Oréal as a brand that always delivers quality products and they always stand out from products which are similar or higher priced, I find this hairspray is no exception it gives much better results than loads of other sprays. The most impressive quality of this hairspray is it's ability to keep ny hair looking frizz free. In the summer my hair gets frizzy from the heat, in the cold it turns dry and flat and in fog or steamy climates abroad it turns into a very distracting monster. The humidity monsters.my hair they are all calmed by this hairspray, it keeps my style in place regardless of the temperature! For a hairspray with such good results I have often paid salon prices but I've never found one which would have tempted me to change even if the price was the same! Quality at a reasonable price!
Is it easy to use?
Elnett hairspray has a unique micro difuser spray, which basicly means that when you spray it comes out very fine which ensures you don't spray on to much and end up with rockhard hair! It gives even coverage over a large sized area which is enough to give the results described earlier. I know hair sprays I have could have done with this technology as when you spray they can cover a small area of hair with a large amount of spray which makes the coverage uneven and you use more than you need to whereas ether elnett hairspray you just use what is needed. It pleases me not to waste any product as it saves money and saves the enviroment a little bit of damage!
Anything I would change?
I only have one gripe wih this hairspray and that is that the spray has no protection from being accidently sprayed! Loads of hairsprays come with a cap which covers the spray part of the can and I wish this hairspray would get one! On a recent short break i packed my elnett in my over packed holdall and was horrified to find one of my dresses.and a plimsole soaked with hairspray as there must have been to much pressure on the spray button! Probably my fault but could have been saved from that experience...poor me had to go and buy a new dress ;). Apart from that one little niggle I still love this hairspray as much as the little girl sneaking into her mums' room did!
------------- IF YOU AINT GOT NO MONEY TAKE YOUR BROKE ASS HOME !!! ---------
Thinking you may as well give up the hunt for a great liquid eyeliner that gives precise results? I thought this was true for a while but now I take my broke ass to Boots and buy Glameyes eyeliner for £5.29 when I can't afford the prices in more expensive brands. The only reason I splurge out now is not for better results but to show of in my makeup bag, more expensive brands are more impressive looking, this liquid eyeliner ain't that pretty looking but it does it's job very well.
-------------- Poppin' champagne, Livin' the life In the fast Lane -------------
Okay, I'm not well of enough to drink champagne on nights out but I do live my life in the fast lane! I go to work then straight out to party so I like my eyeliners to last, not just during the day but in the hot humid atmosphere of local nightclubs as well. This eyeliner has never let me down. It does not crease. It does not smudge and it does not crack, it stays exactly the same as it was when I left home in the morning! One thing it doesn't do fast enough though is dry! It can take nearly a minute to not get smudges on the top of my eyelids but it's not bad enough to put me of it and it only needs wiped of the top of my eyelids, there's no need to reapply.
------------------I'm not pristine, I'm no queen, I'm no machine----------------
As much as I would LOVE to be brilliant at applying make up, I am not. I have terrible co-ordination and spacial awareness and often end up with products on the completely wrong parts! However I find this eyeliner really easy to use, it has a very small (around 1cm) brush which gives a very precise straight line and it is soft and bend so when applying it from one corner of the eye to the other you can drag it across the skin which allows you more pressure when applying it, I find this means my hand shakes a lot less and I get a nice straight line. The eyeliner is not to runny either but glides on nicely without any effort and the eyeliner line can be done in the one go which gives a much sleeker line.
-------------You deserve nothing but all the finer things-----------
I like to look good even when I'm low on funds, this eyeliner lets me do just that. I find with daily application a tube of this will last me around 3 months, which is quite good value for money. The tube does not clump or turn dry so it can be used as often or as little as you like and there's no worry of it going to waste. The colour of this is very intense black and gives me the exact look I get from higher priced products, excellent value.
Glameyes eyeliner gives fantastic results even thought I have a wobbly shaky hand. It lasts me from 9am till 3am the next day and it never lets me down...So If you ain't got no money take your broke ass to boots!
I have sensitive skin but have used Rimmel for years as I find that there products never cause me any problems. I am allergic to lanolin, i've yet to come across a product which contains this so I always browse their section in superdrug when I'm on the lookout for a new product. The only problem I have with Rimmel mascaras tend to generate a soft subtle look, even the ones which are meant to lend volumise lashes seem to just lightly cost and seperate lashes. I'be always like the Cheryl Cole -esque thick and false looking with impact, I always use fake lashes at night but for day time prefer mascara to avoid having fake lashes stuck to my cheek rather than eyelids! One of my uni friends manages this effect on a daily basis, so when I asked what mascara she used I was suprised to find out that it was a Rimmel mascara!
When I went looking for this mascara I expected it to be in some sort of shiny metalic very glam packaging. When I seen the mascra on the shelf I was a little disappointed with the plain black packaging, I was expecting the packaging to reflect the glamerous results I had seen my friends eyelashes recieve! The mascara comes in a black solid casing which has a cross cross pattern engraved into the black plastic on the lid, this serves a practical purpose as it stops the plastic becoming a bit slippery with prolonged use. on the top of the lid is a metalic pink sticker with a picture of a black crown on it, this is the most glam thing about the bottle! The writing is all in the same metallic pink as the sticker on the lid. Despite not reflecting the impact of the mascara does not look out of place in my makeup bag and the plainess of the packaging makes the results seem even more impressive, there is no hype with this mascara just great results at a decent price.
This mascara is really easy to apply, the pink brush cones out covered in plenty of mascara each time it exits the tube and the brush is flexible, this makes it very easy to coat all lashes, even the small ones on the insides of my eyes. The bristles of thw brush are far enough apart to allow lashes to be thick but close enough together to seperate lashes and ensure the mascara doesn't make you look as if you only have three eyelashes! The mascara is quite thick and stays on the brush without making any mess, if you place the brush right in at your eyelid and slowley upwards to the end of your lashes immediatly the mascara coats them, curls them upwards and defines them. For those who like to have a natural look. One coat of this mascara is plenty but.for thiae who like a really dramatic look this mascara is great as the thick formula once dried can easily be built upon for another few coats until the desired look is achieved. So long as you dont go overboard or let the mascara dry out (be carefully aso the lid needs to be screwed right on or the mascara will dry up) then the mascara does bot leave you with clumpy lashes.
When I bought this mascara I paid £6.99 in superdrug, I see Amazon are now selling it even cheaper at 3.99 which is a great deal I'm days they have free delivery it when you are already buying something and paying the postage already. The mascara is easily availible and I feel it is great value for money as the results have been terrific! I have paid a lot more for a mascara that promises to tranform my lashes but instead only drains my purse!
The Dyson Animal has a strong sucking action, this is due to it being high powered (it's 12 amp, here may well be more powerfull models on the market, but it is he strongest I have ecer used and a great change to that I am used to. The first time I used this hoover around two years ago I was shocked at how good the level of suction was, to the point it almost put me of! I found until I got used to the angle I need to push the hoover at to get it to glide it could be difficult to move it around but I soon got the hang of that! Not only does this strong sucking action work on carpets I've that it works just as well on wooding flooring and on laminate, meaning I can quickly clean all the floors in my house with the one appliance meaning save time and energy! (A member has just informed me there is a bit on the front you ought to use on noncarpeted floors to protect them, I've never used it and had no problems but useful information all the same.
The flex is 35 feet as well which means I can easily hover around without having to change the plug constantly. The high power sucking is reasonably loud, so not good for use when other people in the house are sleeping, I wouldn't give up power for reduced noise though.
Vacuums are either filter, cyclonic or multi cyclonic. In a filter vacuum the filter needs to be cleaned every few times that you use it or you begin to lose suction, our old vacuum was a filter model and it is annoying having to take the time to do this as often it gets forgotten about and we would be wondering why the vacuum was not picking anything up! I've found with this vacuum cleaner being cyclonic it needs changed less than half as often than our old model needed which saves a lot of hassle, I hate cleaning vacuum filters, so this type of vacuum is much more user friendly for me! I've heard that multi cyclonic models need changed even less than the cyclonic models, I'm quite fond of this model though and wouldn't go changing it just for that, it's just a wee bonus! Filter vacuums are those with a bag and the other two types are different types of bagless vacuums.
Our old Dyson was not bagless and similar to my problem with the filter I hated the dirty dusty bags and having to change them. Once a bag gets full in a hoover you have to change it, with certain vacuums (unfortunately this applies to the cute Henry hoovers I am fond of) it's messy and an inconvenience and you have to buy bags to replace the old ones, they are not expensive but over time you can end up spending a decent amount of money to buy these. With our Animal we don't have to buy new bags or replace messy filters we simply remove the dust container, which comes of very easily even with my stiff hands, take it to a bin and empty the contents...no mess and no fuss! You can see when the dirt cup is getting full so you are never halfway through vacuuming and then remembering that you ought to change the bag! I could never go back to a hoover that uses bags, technology has moved on and so have I! The only downside of this type of vacuum cleaner is that for those with asthma or a dust allergy you are being directly exposed to the dust when you empty out the container so it is not the best of vacuum cleaners for those who may find this problematic, luckily it is not a problem for me so does not affect my rating. The dust capacity is said to be 1 gallon, I find this means the hoover fits in quite a few uses before you need to empty it.
I've always been told that cylindrical vacuums are easier to move around, any job I have even had whether it be in a shop or a bar where I have had to use a vacuum this has always been the type of vacuum that we have used and they sure are a lot lighter than the upright models, the Animal is quite light weight but still I do not find it as light as other cylindrical models and so I cannot make it up the stairs carrying this hoover. In terms of movement this vacuum is actually very easy to push around and being an upright model helps me by reducing the amount of bending I have to do, I've got a sore back so this is helpful!
This hoover comes with lots of one slim nozzle to do round into cracks and edges, a flat small flat tool which I find to be brilliant doing the stairs in my house as if you use the hose (which is long enough to reach to the top of a flight of stairs) you can easily vacuum the floor which before was a nightmare with the old hoover as the hose was not long enough so the hoover had to sit on the stairs and often it would take a tumble down them! The hoover has brushes on the sides of which also go into the edges so I have found that I can do a spotless job of vacuuming anywhere, even in the kitchen where lots of crumbs tend to gather in corners and edges.
The animal is set aside from other vacuums and the other Dysons in this range as it is specifically meant to be great at picking up animal hair! Having a border collie in the house means that dark carpets clearly show up white hair and the dark hair shows up the light hair very easily so we need a hoover that really picks up all the hairs even the almost unnoticeable ones. This vacuum makes such a difference to our floors and certainly picks up all the dog hair that ends up lying about. I'm not sure what technology dyson used to get his magic hair removing skill but whatever it.is certainly works! You can buy a tool to vacuum your pet aswell which we got to use on the mutt, it terrified her so much we couldn't even try it; she's scared of this hoover at the best of times because as it is so noisy, so while it is a brilliant vacuum and great for picking up pet hair...it's not so animal friendly.
A sturdy, reliable hoover which looks modern and classy in silver and purple.
This webcam was donated to me by a family friend who simply did not need it anymore, having had no problems with it and knowing my boyfriend was moving town for university she passed this onto me.
The webcam is quite basic looking, it irritates me somewhat that it's silver and grey as I like these sort of gadgets to.blend in.nicely on.my shelves. It is suprisigly strong considering how light it is! It's fell of the shelf it is kept on several times and suprisingly considering how clumsy I am manages to stay in one peice! It's never failed me yet!
Once I had plugged it into my laptop it was working within around 3 seconds, my laptop runs.on Windows 7 so it may take longer on older laptops. I had to do absolutley nothing else to set up wise unless I wanted to hanged any basic webcam setting which can be done through the programme the webcam is using. The processung speed seems quite quick but its a bit pixely when it is full screen.
I mainly use my webcam on skype and msn for chatting to my boyfriend and other friends! I don't have a problem with the quality it does what I need it to do on a small screen but I suppose for.people who would.be making the.image larger.maybe for conferences or video calls to a large group of pellet the quality would not be adequate.
There us also no mic,but then for a budget webcam I wouldn' expect one. I have a free standing Mic and one on my laptop so this does not bother me to much but is worth.other people knowing who might need one.
I see this sells for a fiver in tesco, if your needs are like mine for a webcam I digger opting for this.if you don't mind average.quality!
My poor, poor, poor wee lips having to put up with my incessant talking, nippy foods, cold weather and warm drinks this is their story about how they finally received the treatment they deserve...
Our story, by The lippy lips....
We were in very bad condition during a harsh winter, snow, rain and ice cold winds abused our soft unprotected skin and we dreamed for a saviour to rescue us from our plight. Now and again our hopes would be built up when a new tub, tube or stick promised to help us recover then failed to soothe or protect us.
We had almost given up hope and barely registered a flicker of expectation when on a trip to topshop (easily found in chemists and online aswell) a yellow tube with red lid and pretty picture of cherries in the front... It only cost 2.99 and having tried more expensive options we thought thia would just be another failed attempt at removing us from our chapped, dry cracked existance...
When we returned home a thin layer if the lipgloss like product was applied...Wow! Something we had never experienced occured, we felt a little tingle! This wonder ointment was already soothing us and working deep down to moisturiser, we could move about a lot easier and the cracks stopped causing pain! Even going outside in the snow e still felt it workig and the chill never made us sting or feel sore!
Its been almost a year and we are still getting pampered by this product, we are saved! We look good, taste great and feel soft and smooth! Due to it being very glossy this gets reapplied regularly so we dont get forgotton about but even on busy days it lasts a long time if we can't get as frequent an application. The taste is Yummy as well and the boyfriend delivers a few extra kisses when this is on. The tube is probably a little girly for him but we hear there is a more male friendly tub availible for a similar price.
Dear dooyooers please do not let your lips suffer, 2.99 every couple of montha can save them a lot pain!
Indulge yourself in luxury by purchasing this body butter, it usually sells for 50ml for five pounds or 12.50 for 200ml in store but if you buy just now there is MASSIVE savings to be made!
This product is easy peasy to find, as with all of Bodyshops fruity scents the packaging is colour coded by scent! The strawberry products are all red and have pictures of strawberries on the front, even the packaging of this product is delicious! It tella you on the front this product is good for normal skin, from experience this is also one of the best body butters even in times of severe dry skin (i recently stocked up on this during the sale for winter). The packaging is as fruity looking as the inside is and it looks lovely sitting in the bathroom or on a dresser, particularly if you have other strawberry scented bodyshop products.
Body shop do a great customer service when it comes to buying presents and will wrap up items for presenta if you ask, this means while the gift sets they set up instore are lovely, you can it more personal and suited to the person you are givig it to by creating your own little gift set! I'be found friends and relativea are really fond of this and the strawberry products always recieve compliments.
Good value, although it seems a little pricey a little goes a long way, ny tub has lasted six months of daily use and is just running low now!
I have very sore hands caused by elhers danlos syndrome (please please read my review 'living with hypermobility' its very underdiagnosed so raising awareness is vital!) and I have found this product to be very easy to open, it is a.very smooth and easy to turn screw lid so even my achey deformed hands manage :)
Application of this product is very easy, you gently massage it into your skin concentrating on any dry areas. The light pink butter is very thick so it takes a while to rub in but I have found this means the product gives better results than some thinner moisturisers I have tried. Due to it being so thick it takes longer to be absorbed into the skin, so it is best to allow a couple of minutes if you plan on throwing clothes on and heading out. I think the best time to use this body is at night juat before bed, lying overnight allows you to wake up feeling fresh and soft!
The results of this product are fantastic! Even my knees are soft and smooth! The best part is the seer strawberry smell whoch lingers about all day without being to overpowering. I prefer this smell during the day than perfume as these can give me really sore heads whereas this subtle but sweet fragrance has me smelling good enough to eat!
The shea and cocoa beans this is made from are fairtrade, meaning you are not only helping yourself you are helping others.
I have tried most of the fake tans that are easily availible but recently, being low on funds I took the plunge and spent £2.99 for 200ml (In Semi-Chem) on a fake tan recommended by a friend, I assumed like some other D.I.Y fake tans this would fail match the results I achieve from my regular spray tans... I have found if you apply it in a certain way and get nice and exfoliated before the results can be just as good!
How to spot it!
This fake tan comes in a white pump dispenser bottle with a clear plastic lid. Most of the writing on the bottle is black and is in a similar font to the St Tropez bottles, this gives it an expensive look as it fits in nicely with the more pricy bottles.
How to apply it?
This product is a mousse, I have found the best way to apply this is to use a fake tanning mit (you can get these for £1.99 in Semichem or £1 in Primark) this stops your hands getting orange and because the mousse contains bronzer you can see where you are applying it, this means you don't put too much product on, making you orange, or to little and turning out streaky in areas you have missed! The mousse is very easy to apply and soaks into the skin without having to be rubbed really hard. As soon as it is applied you have a slight tan all over, it states on the bottle it will take 4-6 hours to develop fully but it's definitely near the 6hours scale and often nearer 8 hours! I'd advise leaving plenty of developing time, I do usually take longer for the fake tan to develop but I think this is result of Ehlers Danlos syndrome which affects the collagen in my skin so everyone else might not take so long. You can get a darker tan if you reapply the mousse, the sooner you do so the darker the results. i find the colour on the first attempt fine but I have friends who reapply to get darker results and there tan looks just as good.
The tan when fully developed gives a nice even colour which is natural and attractive. It does not leave you with dry skin and looks just as nice a colour as my spray tans! You can see where you are applying the mousse so it does not turn streaky and does not leave you with dark elbows or knees if you exfoliate before use (wearing vaseline on your knees and backs of your ankles the nights before you put the fake tan on totally eliminates this). I definitely advise washing after applying the fake tan, I know a lot of people I know don't do this but I find that particularly on my face seems to look a little bit dirty for some reason! As soon as it is washed of though it is clear that this is just due to the bronzer as the underneath result is flawless!
Is it messy?
Nope! Altough the bronzer sometimes rubs of on light clothes if it is not dry, this washes of easily and is not a problem unless it is the clothes you plan to wear going out, in which case leave enough time for the fake tan to dry properly (around 20 mins). So long as the fake tan is dry before bed it doesn't rub of on the sheets, this is even better than my spray tans and saves a lot of bother as every other fake tan I have had has somehow ended up covering my sheets! Sometimes if you do not wipe the bottle after use it can get a bit messy and the mousse stains the surface it is on, but so long as it is wiped there is no problem.
I am following in my friends footsteps and recommending this wonderful mousse to everyone!
As far as I can remember ever since I have had wireless internet it has been this Belkin router we have used. Recommended by an uncle and bought of Amazon for £15.99 (I see it is now £13.99). It definitely does what it is expected to do and all three laptops in the house as well as five phones and an Ipod touch all easily connect to the router...usually! (I'll explain this further on)
It was actually really easy to set up I was around 14 at the time and using the instructions it took me about 15 minutes. It's not the nicest looking router but it's not offensive, it's made of lightweight plastic which is sometimes a nuisance as it slips really easy of the shelf it sits on (this was easily rectified with a little bit of whitetack). At original installation it had both a pc and the laptops connecting through it (Ethernet and wireless) and it coped perfectly. Security was also easy to set up and I have had no security issues. It has four wireless and one Ethernet port so is perfect to cover a modern day families connection needs.
The signal is always very good even when downloading or streaming and with multiple appliances doing so. I had to update the firmware at one point, I think it is a problem with being on a Virgin network, but it used to close my browser unexpectedly for no reason but this problem has gone away.
The one problem we did experience is that for some reason Belkin decided to update something or other to do with the wireless and this meant our WAP key changed, they did not inform us of this and it was only when trying to connect a new device we discovered this. The over the phone helpers are NOT so helpful, we found it difficult to hear as the call centre was so noisy and it took over an hour, getting charged, to sort out something which with easier instructions could have been done in minutes, I think the staff need new training as they are a bit slow and rusty! ( the one guy we got was). This said it is the only problem we have encountered and we did get it sorted!
I'm not sure I would recommend the router, it's quite old now and I'm sure there are better and more attractive ones available at a similar price but it does what i wish it to do and for the most part it does it very well.
Vaseline is really a lot more usefull than it is sometimes given credit for! It is simply a pretty little tin of pure Petroleum Jelly, but the beauty of this and lack of other ingredients makes it a wonderfull mulititasker! Availible in a small tin for 99p in boots it is great value for money! They do other versions such as the Rose version which comes in a pink tin and tints your lips pink, the yellow which has added SPF and the green which contains aloe vera. Having tried all the different types the original vaseline is still my favourite! The small tin is a perfect size for in pockets, handbags, schoolbags and sports bags and it's uni sex packaging means it's great for either sex! My boyfriend will only ever put vaseline on his lips and refuses to carry lip balm...*rolls eyes*!
Luscious Lips <3
I love to put vaseline on my lips, you only need a very small amout to evenly cover your lips so the tins lasts for a good couple of months! (Probably slightly less if your lips are as big as Jaggers but good value never the less). It is clear so unlike coloured products if you are putting this on while you are on the go and it smudges you are not left with big pink or red streaks on your face! Vaseline gives your lips a nice natural gloss which is perfect for during the day, particularly in the winter when it's cold outside and your lips get chapped and harsh central heating makes them sting! I always carry vaseline with me and it gets borrowed often during the winter, other lip balms sooth the lips but apart from carmex I have yet to find anything that protects the lips quite as well! This is the traditional use of vaseline and is what springs to mind when it is mentioned but is great for LOTS more!
Flawless Feet! :-D
Hard days work, dancing all night in nightclubs, sport and general wear and tear can make for dry, sore and cracked skin on your feet but vaseline is a little treasure to help cure this! Every night before I go to bed if my feet feel sore or I notice even slightly rough skin I will cover the affected area in a little bit of vaseline, put on a pair of cotton socks and head of to sleep, when I wake in the morning I have soft smooth and well recovered feet. The vaseline moisturises feet, the lack of harsh chemicals means they can be put anywhere with damaged skin withough causing stinging! I have found vaseline to be kinder to my feet than some foot creams as when the skin is cracked it does not cause irritation which other products do. It is gentle on my tootsies! Another great tip is when wearing flipflops for the first time placing a wee bit of vaseline on between the big toe and the toe next to it, this stops is rubbing your toe and making it sore as it acts as a protective barrier. The same can be applied to all shoes where they are hurting your feet, rubbing a bit of vaseline where the shoe rubs your foot stops blistering and damaging your feet!
Knockout Knees! ;-)
When it comes to applying faketan knees and elbows are the worst offenders for turning a much darker shade than the rest of your body! On top of this is find my knees often look very dry and sometimes grey! I overcome this by rubbing vaseline on my knees like I do with my feet before bed the morning before a night out, when wake up my knees are nice and smooth and applying fake tan is much much easier! Even when I'm not wearing faketan before going out I will rub vaseline on my knees to make them look softer and more attractive! There is no scent of this vaseline so it's easy to go to sleep without being distracted by the smell!
Clever colouring :-O
EVERY time I dye my hair I end up with hair dye all over my neck, ears and face! A great tip from my granny I have found usefull is that before dying my hair to go round the edges of my hair line and apply vaseline, this means when I make a mess i can wipe it of with cotton wool! It works and considering the mess and amount of scrubbing that I used to have to carry out, I would buy vaseline just for this purpose! Also I use a lot of bright colours when I dye my hair and often these stain the sealent of my bathtub out of curiosity I had a wee go at putting vaseline on this before I showered and found that if I did so and wiped it of after I was no longer staining my bath tub! Using Vaseline to protect against hairdying nightmares has saved me money buying hairdye removing wipes and replacing my bath sealant!
Shiney Shoes 8-)
Applying a little vaseline to patent or dress leather shoes after they have been cleaned gives them a great shine, the vaseline also helps to protect them like it does to your skine by acting as a protective layer, it is like giving your shoes an invisible barrier to dirt! Imagine your horror when you travel all the way into town for an interview to realise that your shoes are filthy! Easily sorted if you have your secret weapon in your bag (vaseline) nip to the toilet, wipe your shoes (the dirt will come of much easier because the vaseline was put on in the morning) and then apply a little more and you end up with smart, respectable shoes again! Another tip with my granny she discovered years ago which continues to work!!
Runway Rash! >:)
I always forget to buy shaving cream and in the instance that i do but desperatly need to "defluff" I will do so then as soon as I am out the shower apply vaseling to the affected area. I have found doing this means I do not get the stinging razor I tend to get and that it makes all the areas of skin really soft. I no longer have to worry about this unsightly rash...Thank you Vaseline!
I'm sure there is tons more uses for vaseline but these are the ones I have found to help me out! Perfect for it's intended purpose and at 99p I simply cannot fault this! For those who like coloured lipstick this will not satisfy you on that count but do not rule this out as a beauty essential!
Alpro Soya do a whole range of differenct products whih are made from soya, this means they are dairy free, great for those of us who are on a diet or like me are lactose intolerant as well as vegitarians an vegans! I've tried other alpro Soya products such as milk but none have really impressed me that much...until I tried these yogurts! They defitly ARE not as good as an actual yougurt but for someone like me who has to avoid them at all costs to avoid cramping stomachs and other IBS symptoms they are great!
The yogurts come in a pack of four with two Strawberry and Banana and two Peach and Pear. They used to be called "oy" on the packaging but now are just "Alpro soya yogurt smooth". It would be great if the packaging was more distinct than normal yogurts, they follow the traditional yogurt packaging which is not aimed at children which consists of pictures of the fruit in quite subtle colours, a more distinct wrapping would help my sister remember not to touch my yoghurts!!!! It clearly displays the Alpro Soya yogurt which makes them easy to spot on supermarket shelves but when they are sitting individually in the fridge and not in the external wrap around the logo is not so easy to see, hence my sisters confusion!
The yougurts are decent priced at £1.59 for 4 in Morrisons who sometimes do buy one get one free offers on them as well. The tubs contain 125g which is a sort of normal amount for yogurt tubs, they are not quite as cheap as basic supermarket own brand yogurts but they are reasonable and it is a decent price to pay to be able to eat and enjoy yogurt again! They are widely available and I have found most supermarkets sell them at the £1.59 mark but it's worth looking around for offers or buying multiples if offers are on! I buy a lot of alpro soya products and have been saving up the Treat codes that come with them, I've redeemed some online so far and got a nice wee branded cereal bowl!
The taste is very similar to normal yogurts with the same flavour and the only thing that made it slightly different was the taste was not as strong. The texture is smooth and creamy just like a normal yogurt and this allows me to satisfy any cravings I have for yogurt! It's great to be able to have yogurts as snacks again and although the taste is slightly compromised it is not enough for me not to love them! Strangely enough these yogurts actually smell really nice, better than normal yogurts which don't usually have a smell it's actually quite fruity!
For those who are lactose intolerant and have IBS these yogurts contain an active probiotic culture which is meant to be good for the lining of the gut, obviously when you cannot take lactose things like actimel are out the question so these are a great tasting alternative. In my view they are even better than actimel for getting a dose of probiotic as it actually has a similar texture and taste to probiotic rather than the watery weak consistency of other products!
Yum Yum Yum!!!!
I LOOOOOOOVE cheese, so much so that there used to be very very little I would eat without adding cheese (I used to even melt cheese and eat it on Hoola hoop crisps!)...I was like a little mouse! My whole life I have suffered from sore stomachs, constipation and bloating and been diagnosed with IBS. I understand now that I have these problematic due to Elhers Danlos syndrome hypermobility type (I know people don't know a lot about this so feel free to read my review on this to learn more) however my IBS is made worse by eating or drinking any products which contains lactose....I though this meant no more cheese for little mouse *cries* ....until a walk round the supermarket had me stumble across Arlas' lacto free cheese!
When on the hunt for this cheese your task is simple, you must follow your nose to the cheese isle of your local supermarket, sneak a look at the variety of cheeses and locate your prey, it is easy to find with it's white packaging complte witharge cow face on the front, this cheeses skin makes it stand out from the rest making tracking the tasty cheese very easy....*evil laugh*. Once you have Lactofree cheese in you possesion you must ensure it's safe delivery to the checkout where.you will.be expected to pay a small sum of money for your catch (I shop in morrisons and pay one pound eighty and it's price is similar elaewhere). Once I take my prize back to my lair it is kept very safe from other mice, it clearly says that it is lacto free and the cow warns of any would be cheese theifs! You don't get a huge amount in the packet so it is imperitive to keep safe, unlike he lacto free yogurts I have tried abd others have taken without noticing this packaging gives good warning to those who ahould not be sniffing around it!
* a hint for the anti-shopping mice*
Hate shopping? A look on WWW.lactofree.co.UK will help you find and order this cheese and other lacto free products online, saving you a trip to the supermarket!
* lacto free cheese? Yes please! *
The most important thing about this cheese is that it is so similar to normal cheese that even the most fussy mice can't s notice the difference! It only comes in one strength and although this is great to sasafy my cheese cravings it would be fantastic if it was made in a choice of flavour strenghts. The texture of the cheese is great, definitl similar to other demo hard cheeses ans is not rubbery which I had been scared it might be! It is availible in soft aswell which tastes just as great, i prefer the semi hard but that is just down to individual cheese preference!I have used this cheese in macaroni and sandwiches and always recieve compliments!
* value for money for mice families?*
You pay slightly more for this cheese for less quantity than you do for your normal cheddar and it only comes in he one relativly small size, it would be nice to see a family sized version to provide famillys where lactose free diets are needed! I wouldn't let the price be to much of a difference as it is still not too expensive and the satisfaction of eating cheese.again is well worth it!
Finally I can satisfy my cravings!
I found out the cause of my aches and pains this week...here are a list of all the symptoms which this syndrome gives me;
*sore joints particularly in my back.
* extremely bendy joints- I have lots of part tricks I show people like my very bendy fingers touching the floor without bending my knees, bending my knees and elbows the wrong way and getting my thumb to touch my wrist
*really soft skin that bruises easily
* I bleed slightly longer than I should
* extreme period cramps
*chronic fatigue, I have to lie down after doing ANYTHING to recharge
* I often feel really dizzy for no apparent reason
* i am very clumsy as I have rubbish spacial awareness
* I have thoratic scoliosis (cure in the top part of my spine)
* extra elastic skin o
I have been visiting a physiotherapist for three months after being referred for sciatic pain in my back and legs which I only brought up to the doctor when I was getting treated for glandular fever, she's bot had much success and the reason why is clear...the joints. In my back like to wiggle about and change position and this causes my pain receptors to be activated my pain. My pain not sciatic as we first thought it is from my joints! I mentioned this to my doctor and showed her my fingers, they have started to appear misshapen and the shape resembles a swan neck, she then commented that if i was bendy age would have suspected that it was hyper mobility syndrome....a few minutes later and showing her numerous bendy things i can do and seeing my soft stretchy skin she deduced this is indeed what I have!
Hype rmobilty syndrome is a connective tissue disorder which in my case is caused by a defect in the collagen. Produced by my body that means all my tissues such as muscles, skin, bowel ect over stretch what they should normally and that this causes pain because my joints are being over worked.
I can help my pain by lying down flat to recharge, usually half an hour help but I get tired very quixkly doing things and this increases the pain I feel. Another way I am learning helps is to stay positive, i am still capable of doing things like working and going to uni even though I am in pain. If I don't keep active it will cause more problems as my muscles will become weak and not support my body properly.
People find hyper mobilty hard to understand, I do not look ill yet I am in severe pain, I am better some days than others. I always remind these people that just because something cannot be seen it does not mean it can be felt and this is the case for pain!
I am looking forward to my appointment tomorrow and hope to learn more information and to start pain relief. I'm upset this won't go away but there is still plenty of sunshine in my life, I've read stories of people who are much worse and I am thankful for my quick diagnosis as I know some people wait years with unexplained pain.
This has recently been re-categorised as elhers danlos syndrome hyper mobility type but is still often referred to as hyper mobility. At my appointment today I seen a different doctor from last Friday who I mentioned to about my scoliosis in my spine, IBS and family history of arthritis and joint pains as well as my stretchy skin (at my last appointment when I first got diagnosed I did not place importance on these) as a result of this I am being sent to a geneticist to check it is definitely the hyper mobility type of EDS I have. I would advise other people with Hyper mobility syndrome to ensure they tell their doctor all their symptoms. You can check if you skin is extra stretchy by pinching and pulling the skin on the inside of your elbow, if it stretches over 1cm this is considerer extra flexible so tell your GP/ consultant as this may be important!
Much love and thanks for reading! I hope this is a useful insight into the syndrome and that if you or anyone you know ever cones across this you can understand that although being extra bendy sounds great, it really hurts!
I love Clinique perfume but tend to find that I feel it's slightly to old for me so any bottles which I have still have quite a large amount left in them but my Happy Heart bottle is signifigantly emptier and for good reason!
------What does it smell like?-----
Fruity and almost citrusy this perfume is soft and fresh and not overpowering. It reminds me of sitting in the garden in summer surrounded by flowers and freshly cut grass eating a fruit salad, without being too flowery or sickly sweet. I always get compliments from wearing this perfume and several of my friends now own it! A prefect scent to ensure you have a happy day!
-----Is it good Value?-----
I got 50ml of this perfume for £29.99 a while ago from boots but I see that amazon is selling it slighly cheaper so it may be worth having a look around before hoppinh in and buying. The perfume is soft but you only need a couple of squirts each time and this will last you all the way through a working day! A good price for a quality perfume with fresh smell that is long lasting!
-----Will it look nice on my dresser?------
This is not the type of perfume you buy for the bottle, it is not particullaly remarkable and does not catch the eye. However, happy heart has a nice smooth glass bottle filled with clear liquid which simply says "clinigue happy heart" at the top with a reddish/pinky metalic lid on the top. Although it is not perhaps the most innovative of bottles it is not offensive or unsighlty and it contains the perfume perfectly. I HATE bottles of perume which pretend to hold more than they do by having false bottoms ect! It won't look amazing on your dresser, but it won't look out of place either, a sleek modern and simple design.
Such a summery fresh smell, how could it not make my heart happy?
the Ipod4 is often heralded as the Iphone4 but without the ability to make calls and without monthly (or any further) charges. The Ipod four excells other Ipod models and there is little critisism to be found with it that is worthy of me wishing I had never bought it! The only problem is now I have a smart phone Pod doesn't get as much attention as he used to get! He's never let me down and doesn't answer back or go in a huff and switch of...He's easy to use with touch screen. He has couple of flaws but I love him so much these are easily overlooked!
------Value for Money?-----
£329.00 from comet and came with a £10 iTunes gift voucher (nice touch for a new owner), it seems quite expensive but this is for the 64GB model which I found neccesary to own due to the large amount of music and films I put on my Pod, I travel aorund a lot so like to have him with me to keep me occupied on long Journeys. When you think of all the features which this Ipod has it could save you a great deal of money buying seperate gadgets (particularly a camcorder, the quality on this model is great). Obviously my ipod was expensive due to being top of the range and high storage but other models are avilible in 8G,16G and 32G which are more reasonable and good value for those who do not store extreme amounds of data.
------Room for all my data?-----
My pod more than covers the requirements I need for an Ipod, I have music, podcasts, ebooks and movies stored on mine and at the moment I am only using 35G! (No doubt this will rise soon, I plan on putting the last series of inbetweeners on it for a long journey to Newcastle soon! The RAM in the Ipod4 is more than enough to allow it to run smoothly and mine has only freezed on me once, and this was shortly after buying it and installing 18G of data at the one time, it only lasted around a minute, I left it, got a cup of tea and when I got back it was loaded up! Downloads are very quick as is syncing and sofware updates which is great as older models sometimes took forever (my Ipod touch first generation for example)
------Is it a looker?------
I am very attracted to Pod, he is smooth sleek and very lightweight (definite weight loss since last years model). He only has two hard buttons to press the home which works very well and is usefull and the power/ sleep button. The power button is really annoying as it's placed in a groove quite deep in the case and sometimes it takes a few shots to get it, this comes with practice and really isn't to much of a deal but something apple could have designed a little better. The one things that annoys me about Pods look is that he still has the same metal back as he always has done, if I could I would take him shopping to get a back like the Iphone 4 has as it would mean he wouldn't look so smudgy and be covered in finger prints!
------CAN YOU HEAR IT???----
The sound on the Ipod 4 is great, from what I remeber it tops the sound I've exeperienced with other models as the bass is slighly better. It comes with thr typical qhite apple speakers which produce a nice sound. Slightly annoying that the jack for the headphones is at the bottom of the pod, i think I'd prefer it at the top as it would be easier to poition pod in my pockets, if I'm wearing skinny jeans he can be a wee bit crowded and I dont like to put it upside down.( This is just my opinion I'm sure it's unlikely to bother other people as much!!)
----Ooooooh I see they gave it a camere?-----
Actualy Apple went all out with this model and gave it two camers! If you dont plan on pritning the pictures, maybe just uploading them on the computer or sending them both cameras give a good enough picture for this, however if you do bear in mind that both the cameras on this Ipod (particularly the VGA on the front) do not take pictures of the high quality the Iphone 4 does and they simply do not print out well. On the upside it does take fantastic videos which are very easy to upload online and send! Great basic camera to snap memories and you couldnt ask for a better camcorder. The camera allows for FaceTime calls which is a handy wee extra for the Phoneless Iphone!! It also allows you to edit HD video! Oh, Pod doesn't flash either, so keep that in mind to and take your camera if you're not in somewhere light!
The IOS4 software on this model is very very speedy and it keeps up well even when switching from one application to another, wish it could mulitask without shutting apps though that would be fantastic! I never have any problems loading games or watching films. I have no need or want for a portable DVD player when I have my Pod! Comes with access to the apple app store so there is loads of additional software you can add on and plenty of apps to keep busy with! I don't understand why this doesn't come with GPS, Apple are more than capable and it would have saved me buying a satnav! I suppose thats maybe asking to much from the poor fellow but a girl can dream!
------What a Guy!------
Pods went under a makeover, the new model is more attractive and charming to use. Could do with a better camera and GPS but he's a good value for money media player which covers all my needs and more.
