      an exotic fragranced shower gel

I am always on the look out for different scented bath and shower products and especially like fresh and delicate floral scented ones. I have used various Radox products before and always liked them. I recently purchased a couple of different shower gels by Radox and one of them was a limited edition Eastern spirit one from their 'feel good fragrance' range. Bath soak and hand wash are also available with the same scent.

      The product and use.
It comes in a 250ml plastic bottle that has a plastic pull out hanger on the top which I really like as it means it can be hung up on my shower making it easy to grab and use. The product itself has a thick gel consistency and is pinky/orange in colour. It has a really nice floral scent that is not too heavy and lingers for a while after showering. It lathers up well and contains oil of orange blossom to soften the skin.

      Price and availability.
It is available both in store and on line, including Tesco, Sainsbury's, Asda and Superdrug and usually retails around £1.90 for 250ml.

      My experience and verdict.
I love this product. It smells great and really gives an exotic feel when in use, because it lathers up well you don't need to use a lot of the product. I like that it leaves a delicate scent on the skin for a while after showering. After use it does leave my skin feeling soft and I would definitely recommend this shower gel.

        A mild scented shower gel

I love trying different shower and bath products and picked this 'refresh' shower gel by Nivea up from Sainsbury's recently as it was offer at half price. Also available from the Nivea powerfruit range is a 'relax' shower gel.

        The packaging.
It comes in a purple plastic bottle with a white and blue plastic flip top lid. There is a sticker on the front of the lid saying 'new' and underneath this it displays the Nivea logo in blue and white. Directly under that are the words 'powerfruit' and 'refresh. There is also a small picture on the front of some cranberries and next to that it confirms that it is a shower gel containing vitamin C and cranberry as well as giving the bottle size. (250ml) On the back of the bottle it gives some product information, lists ingredients, shelf life (12months) and some brand contact information.

        The product and use.
The product is a thick clear gel with a mild fruity smell. To use simply apply to wet skin whilst in the shower to create a lather and cleanse the skin. It is PH balanced and dermatologically approved so great for sensitive skin. It contains Vitamin C and cranberry to leave the skin feeling soft.

        Price and availability.
It is widely available both in store and on line. Sainsbury's currently have it on offer at half price for 95p for 250ml (usual price £1.90)

        My experience and verdict.
This leaves my skin feeling clean and soft. I like the fruity smell but would not describe it as 'vibrant' as it does on the bottle but more of a mild scent. It lathers up well and was a great bargain at half price. I would recommend this if you like shower products with a mild, non lingering scent.

An effective treatment for dry and cracked feet

I like to look after my feet as best as I can and moisturise them on a daily basis because if not my feet get really dry, especially around the heel area. After seeing some positive reviews on this product I decided to try it and purchased it from Amazon quite a while ago.

        The packaging.
The product is packaged in a blue, red and white cardboard box. (The one I have is a bit different to the picture above, I think because it is a larger size tube.) On the front it tells you that it is Flexitol heel balm for dry and cracked feet. It also shows you 2 different pictures of feet, a before (dry and cracked heel) and after picture (smooth and not cracked) Once out of the box it comes in the for of plastic tube (112g) with a white plastic flip up lid. On the back it gives directions for use, precautions, lists ingredients, tube size shelf life and some brand contact information.

        The product and use.
The product itself is a thick white balm. It advises that it is used twice daily , morning and night and that it is applied to dry cracked heels and feet. Once the skin is restored continue to use to maintain condition. It does warn that it may cause stinging in deep cracks and that it is only intended for adult use. The balm contains active ingredients designed to deeply penetrate into feet for optimal moisturisation and hydration.

        Price and availability.
It is widely available both in store and on line. Amazon currently have it priced at £5.29 plus £1.95 for delivery for the 112g size tube.

        My experience and verdict.
I think this is a good product. I must admit my heels are not cracked and I have never suffered with cracked heels so I can't comment on the results it gives for this but it works great for dry and rough feet which is what I suffer from. I do not have the need to apply religiously twice a day every day, when my heels do start getting a bit rough I apply it daily for a few days until they are soft again. I have had the tube for a couple of months now and still have plenty of product left so it has lasted me quite a while. If you do suffer from dry feet then I would recommend giving this product a go.

A good night cream to lock in moisture

I like to look after my skin and always use both day and night creams. A few weeks ago I ran out of night cream and saw this on offer in Sainsbury's so decided to give it a try. I have used Olay products before but had not tried any of their night creams.

        The packaging.
It comes packaged in a square cardboard box that is blue and black in colour. On the front it displays the Olay logo in white and directly underneath it says that it is anti wrinkle. In the top right hand corner it tells you that it is intended for 'age 30+' and towards the bottom it also says that it is an instant hydration night cream. On the back and side of the box it gives you some products information, ingredients, shelf life (12 months) product size (50ml) and some brand contact information. Once taken out of the box the cream comes in a round plastic white pot with a blue plastic screw off lid.

        The product and use.
The cream itself is blue in colour and has the usual creamy thick consistency. It has a lovely fresh smell that really does remind me of the sea (it contains ocean botanical extract) To use simply apply as a moisturiser to clean skin every evening onto the face and neck to help lock in moisture and give the skin instant hydration.

        Price and availability.
It is widely available both in store and on line from supermarkets, beauty stores and chemists. Price can vary, Superdrug currently have it on offer at £4.97 for 50ml. (usual price £9.99)

        My experience and verdict.
I think this is a good product. It absorbs into my skin really easily and does not leave any greasy residue behind. It smells great too. I have been using it for around 3 weeks now and to be honest I can't really see any difference with fine lines around my eye area although this may improve over time, however the condition of my skin has improved, it feels much softer and is noticeably less dull compared to before. I will continue using this and I would recommend this night cream for people in their 30's.

A great anti bacterial surface cleanser

I have lots of different cleaning products in my kitchen cupboards and this is one of my favourites. Because it is a multi surface cleanser it means I can use one product on different surfaces rather than having to get lots of different bottle out of the cupboard. I always make sure I have 2 bottles, one downstairs for the kitchen and one upstairs for use in the bathroom.

          The packaging.
The product comes in a clear plastic bottle with a blue and red plastic trigger spray lid with a red plastic nozzle. On the front of the bottle it has the Dettol logo and directly underneath it tells you that it kills 99.9% of bacteria and viruses. It also shows 2 different symbols on the front, one confirming that it is trusted by doctors to kill bacteria and the other one is a seal of approval by the British allergy foundation. It tells you that it is an anti bacterial surface cleanser that has no odour, no taint and contains no bleach. On the back it gives some product information, directions of use, bottle size, lists ingredients and some brand contact information.

          Product and use.
The product is a clear liquid and has no odour. To use turn the red nozzle to the on position, pull the trigger and spray directly onto the surface then wipe over with a clean damp cloth and allow to dry. There is no need to rinse afterwards. If you are using on electrical equipment it does advise that you spray onto the cloth first. It also says that it can be used on chopping boards, high chairs, changing mats, fridges, bins, kitchen sink, baths, taps and toilet seats.

          Benefits.
          Kills E.coli
          Salmonella
          MRSA
          Rotavirus
          Flu virus (H1N1)
          No bleach
          No taint
          No odour
Safe to use where food is prepared
          Removes 90% of allergens

          Price and availability.
It is widely available both in line and on store. Price can vary and does depend on the bottle size (available in 440ml, 500ml and 750 ml.) Asda currently stock it at £1.80 (500ml) but currently have an offer on at 2 for £2. It is also available with a lime and mint scent.

          My experience and verdict.
I have been using this product for a long time, it has so many benefits and can be used on many different surfaces, for me it is definitely number one when it comes to cleaning products and especially good if like me you have small children in the home. I would recommend this product.

A funky retro car air freshener

A couple of weeks ago my partner bought an air freshener for my car. It was a Drumstick freshener by Swizzels Matlow and is a replica of the Drumstick lolly sweet which brings back memories for me as I used to love eating these sweets as a child. Also available from the range are, Rainbow drops, love hearts and refreshers and can also be bought in the format of a small round pot rather than a hanging air freshener.

            The packaging.
It comes presented on a piece of card and wrapped in clear plastic. At the top of the card the Drumstick and Swizzels Matlow logo is clearly displayed and directly underneath it tells you that it is a car air freshener, raspberry and milk. As the plastic wrapping is clear you can easily see the product itself positioned underneath this. On the back it tells you that it is long lasting with a fresh scent and intended to hang freely inside your vehicle, along with some brand contact information.

            Product use.
Simply remove from the packet and as directed hang freely inside your car.

            Price and availability.
My partner purchased it from a petrol station for 99p but it can be purchased from some car shops and on line. It can be cuurently found on Ebay for £1.77 including free postage.

            My experience and verdict.
I love this air freshener, not only does it look like the real thing but it smells like it too and every time I get into my car and take a whiff it makes me want to eat it. (rest assured I haven't done this . . yet.) It has been hanging in my car for a couple of weeks now and is still smelling as strong as when it first did and is not overpowering like some car scents can be. I would definitely recommend this.

A nice smelling long lasting washing up liquid

As I have mentioned before I love trying different kinds of washing up liquid and am not loyal to any particular brand. I like the range of different scents that are available, especially fresh ones and one that I like more than any other is apple. I picked up this bottle of Fairy apple orchard washing up liquid in Tesco about a month ago.

              The packaging.
The liquid comes in a clear plastic bottle with a plastic red flip top lid. On the front it shows the fairy logo and above that it says 'mega pack' and underneath the logo it tells you that it is 'apple orchard' with some pictures of some apples. At the top underneath the lid it has a red sticker that says 'bigger size, better value.' On the back it gives directions of use, lists ingredients, gives the bottle size, (1.25L) and gives some brand contact information.

              Product and use.
The liquid is green in colour and has a thick consistency. It has a lovely fresh apple scent. To use flip open the lid and add the desired amount to warm water.

              Price and availability.
The product is available from some supermarkets and stores as well as on line. I purchased it from Tesco but could not find it on their website. Asda and Wilkinsons currently have it priced at £2.00 for the 1.25L size bottle.

              My experience and verdict.
I am really happy with this product. It lathers up really well and cleans dirty pots effectively. It has a lovely fresh apple fragrance. I purchased it about a month ago and still have plenty left in the bottle so this is really good value for money.

A good value for money polish

I have used Mr Sheen for many years and when ever I buy a new can it always seems to last for ages. I love the fact that this product can be used on multi surfaces which means I haven't got to mess around using different cans for different things.

              The product packaging.
The product comes in the form of a red, white and green aerosol spray can with a red plastic pull off lid. On the front the Mr Sheen logo is displayed at the top in white lettering and directly underneath it tells you that it is a multi surface polish. It also tells you that it has dust trap technology and a spring meadow scent. At the bottom it tells you that it can be used on wood, metal, glass and plastic. On the back it gives you some product information, directions for use, cautions, can size (300ml) ingredients and some brand contact information. The product claims to pick up more dust than using a cloth alone.

              Directions of use.
Shake can thoroughly before use. Remove the plastic lid to reveal a small white spray nozzle, hold the can upright and spray about 9 inches from the surface by pressing your finger down onto the white spray nozzle. Use a soft cloth or duster to wipe away and polish to a shine. It does say that it is not suitable for use on unsealed or waxed wooden surfaces.

              Price and availability.
It is widely available both in store and on line. Prices can vary, Asda currently have it priced at £1 for the 300ml size.

              My experience and verdict.
I think this is a good product. It collects dust well and leaves a pleasant smell afterwards. I must admit I have found that it isn't totally smear free but it does clean well and is very good value for money. I would recommend this product.

              A lovely soft sponge

I have a couple of these sponges, one I use on my little boy and one I use on myself. They are lovely and soft and perfect for using on my face to give it a good cleanse.

              The packaging.
The sponge comes in a clear and white plastic packet. On the front there is a picture of a teddy bear sat on a cloud and inside the cloud in blue lettering it says 'special softness for your baby.' The top of the packet is white with the Ramer logo on it and directly underneath it tells you that it is a baby sponge and in the corners of the packet it tells you it has been manufactured in England since 1945. On the back of the packet it gives some product information, directions of use and care and safety advise as well as brand contact information.

              The product and use.
The sponge is round in shape and comes in different colours (I have a blue and a white one) It is quite small (approx. 8X8cm) and very soft and their website confirms that they are hypoallergenic, lint free, machine washable and suitable for sensitive skin. (www.ramerssponges.com) You need to rinse the sponge thoroughly before first use and just use as a normal sponge. After each use rinse and allow to dry naturally. The sponge hardens as it dries. On the back of the packet it advises that occasionally you should clean in weak detergent or bath foam.

              Price and availability.
The product is widely available both in store and on line, including Boots and Sainsbury's. Sainsbury's currently have it on offer priced at 73p (usually priced at £1.10)

              My experience and verdict.
I love this sponge. It is really nice and soft and just right to use on my face. It is also long lasting and definitely great value for money.

A great easy to apply eye liner

I recently had some vouchers to spend on the feelunique.com website so decided to treat myself to to a new eye liner pencil. I have used Rimmel eye products before so decided to purchase their soft kohl kajal eye liner pencil which was priced at £2.99 with free delivery.

              The product/packaging and use.
The product comes in the form of a black pencil with silver writing on it and a black plastic lid that slides over the end (just like a pen)Along the front in large letters it tells you that it is a soft kohl kajal eye liner pencil. At the bottom of the pencil it has the Rimmel logo clearly displayed and it tells you that the colour is jet black (061) On the back it gives you the net weight (1.2g) the shelf life (30m) and some basic brand contact information. To use simply remove the lid and gently apply along the inner and/or outer eye lid until the desired look is achieved.

              Price and availability.
The product is widely available in beauty stores, supermarkets, chemists and on line. It usually retails around the £2.99 mark but it is currently available at £1.99 with free delivery from the website www.cheapsmells.com.

              My experience and verdict.
I am happy with this product. It glides on my eye lids really easy and it is nice and soft. It is also long lasting which means I don't have to keep re applying it throughout the day. I would definitely recommend this product.

                A fun bubble bath

My son loves bath time. He loves playing with toys in the bath and having lot's of bubbles too. Matey bubble bath reminds me of my childhood and is great fun for any child's bath time. There are 3 different characters available, Molly Matey, Pegleg Matey and the one I am reviewing today which is Max Matey.

                The packaging.
The product comes in a plastic bottle with a white plastic twist lid on the top. (500ml size) The colour of the bottle depends on the character design. The picture on the bottle is of the character Max Matey which is a sailor and the white plastic lid is made to look like the sailors hat. This is great as it really appeals to my little boy and is very eye catching. It has the product name 'matey' in orange lettering across the front and it tells you that it is a hypoallergenic formulation. On the back it tell you a bit about the character, again this is great for children as they feel like they are getting to know the character a little bit. It also gives directions for use, brand contact information, shelf life (12 months) and lists the ingredients.

                The product and use.
The product itself is light blue in colour and is has a thick liquid consistency. It has a mild pleasant clean smell. To use add the bubble bath to a stream of running water and swish with your hand to create bubbles. (If it does get splashed into the eyes rinse thoroughly with clean water.)

                Price and availability.
It is widely available from supermarkets, chemists and on line. Prices can vary, usually around the £1.98 mark. I purchased this a while ago from Asda priced at £1.98.

                My experience and verdict.
I love matey bubble bath. It brings back memories as a child, my little boy loves it and it lathers up really easy giving lot's of bubbles. A little goes a long way and I would definitely recommend this product for some bath time fun.

                  A great floral room spray

I love keeping my house clean and smelling fresh and I always like to try different scented products. One product I use regularly is Glade's Relaxing Zen aerosol spray. For some reason they don't stock the spray in my local Sainsbury's so I usually pick it up from Tesco.

                  The product and packaging.
The product comes in the format of a white 300ml metal can with a white plastic lid top. The brand name 'glade' is displayed on the front in fancy blue lettering and underneath it tells you that the fragrance is' Relaxing Zen.' On the bottom half of the can it has a picture of some pink flowers and some pebbles with sand in the background. This ties is perfectly with the fragrance as it is a very peaceful and calm image. Directly above the picture it tells you that it gives instant and long lasting freshness and at the bottom is the 'Johnson' company logo (they own the brand Glade) On the back of the can it gives directions of use, the size (300ml) and warnings. Advantages

                    Disadvantages

A good moisturising gradual tanning product

I love having a bit of a tan, it suits my skin tone much better than being pale and makes me feel much healthier. A couple of weeks ago I was lucky enough to receive a free bottle of this to test from Alba Science. I have used some St Tropez tanning products before (not the gradual tanner) and think they are good but are too pricey and would normally purchase a cheaper brand. It is also available in light/medium and as a mouse and spray.

                    The packaging.
The product I received to test did not come presented in a box but if you were to buy this from a store or on line it would normally come in a white cardboard box with the St Tropez name in black across the front. The actual product comes in a white plastic tube/bottle with a black plastic flip lid (slightly different to the picture shown above) The St Tropez name is shown in black lettering down the right hand side of the tube. On the left side it tells you that it is gradual tan and everyday body medium/dark and at the bottom gives the bottle size (200ml) On the back it gives you some product information, lists ingredients, brand contact information, shelf life (12m) and confirms that it is against animal testing. The packaging gives the product a classy appearance.

                    The product and use.
The product itself is white in colour with a creamy lotion/cream consistency. It has a lovely fresh smell and moisturises the skin as well as giving it a bronze colour. It is best used after exfoliating the skin as this will make sure it goes on evenly and does not leave any patches. To use flip up the lid and squeeze the desired amount into the palm of your hands and massage into the skin. The website advises you to wait until it has fully absorbed into the skin before getting dressed. The lotion contains Aloe Vera so it very easily and quickly absorbed into the skin. Make sure you wash your hands after use and use daily to for a gradual subtle tan. Once applied the lotion does leave a lingering fresh smell for quite a while after which is really nice. Please note that the website advices a skin patch test is carried out 24 hrs previous to application in case of any adverse reactions.

                    Price and availability.
It is widely available both in store and on line. Prices vary. It is currently out of stock on the St Tropez website (www.st-tropez.com) but usually retails at £14.30 plus p&p from the site. The gorgeous shop currently have it on offer for £11 plus free delivery. (www.gorgeousshop.co.uk)

                    My own experience and verdict.
I really like the product. Is smells great both when applying it and for quite some time afterwards. I have applied it before going to bed and in the morning when the product has fully developed there is only a slight hint of the usual horrible fake tan smell. It leaves my skin feeling really soft once it has been applied and gives a really nice colour (no orange included!) that builds up after daily use. I would recommend this product and would purchase it again if I had some spare pounds and wanted to treat myself.

                      Disadvantages

A great conditioner for dry/damaged hair

I was in Asda the other day with my friend and we were looking in the Shampoo isle and she told me she had recently purchased a couple of things from The Herbal Essences Be Strong range and how impressed she was with the results so I decided to try some as it is currently on offer priced at £5 for 3 items that you can mix and match. I purchased some shampoo and 2 bottles of conditioner (400ml size) and this review is for the conditioner.

                      The packaging.
The product comes in a plastic gold/honey coloured bottle with a green plastic lid. The Herbal Essences logo is clearly displayed on the top of the bottle, underneath that it tells you that the product is 'new' and that it is Bee Strong strengthening conditioner with honey and apricot extracts for dry/damaged hair. On the back of the bottle it gives some product information, directions of use, ingredients, bottle size, shelf life (12m) and some brand contact information.

                      The product and usage.
The conditioner is a golden honey colour and has a thick creamy smooth texture. It smells really nice and luxurious. You can smell the apricot and honey extracts although it is not overpowering. To use simply press down the green plastic lid to release the opening and squeeze to distribute the conditioner. Apply to wet hair after shampooing then rinse off. I personally leave it on for about 5 minutes before rinsing but this is personal preference as my hair is very dry.

                      Price and availability.
It is widely available from supermarkets, beauty stores and on line. Prices vary dependant upon bottle size and store but it usually retails between £3.50 - £4 for a 400ml bottle. Asda currently have 3 for £5 for the 400ml bottles and this also includes the intensive hair mask and leave in cream from the range (which I also intend to purchase at some point) which is a real bargain.

                      My verdict and own experience.
I am really impressed with this. It works great on my dry and damaged hair and leaves it feeling super soft and smelling great. It has a lovely creamy texture and adds a touch of luxury whilst using it. I will definitely buy this again and try other products from the range and highly recommend it.

                      Advantages

                      Disadvantages

An effective way to remove dead skin

Looking after my feet is a must as I suffer from dry skin. The Ped Egg is a product made by JML to remove hard skin from the foot to leave your skin feeling soft and smooth. I have had mine for quite a few years now and it has definitely been worth the money.

                      The packaging and product use.
The product is made of plastic and comes in various colours. It has 2 parts that fit together. The top part is a rounded oval half egg shape and it has the Ped Egg logo clearly printed on it. The bottom half is a flatter oval shape and has a metal bottom that looks exactly like a cheese grater. When both parts are fitted together it creates a hollow space inside the egg that catches the shavings of dead skin. It is very simple to use, simply push the two parts together and hold in that position whilst rubbing it against your foot in an upwards motion (just like grating cheese.) I must point out that there is nothing that properly locks in tight to hold the 2 parts together on their own so if you take your hand off the bottom part of the egg it will come off and the loose shavings will fall out. (unless the design has changed as I have had mine for quite some time now.)

                      Price and availability.
The product is widely available from chemists, supermarkets and online. Prices can very. You can purchase directly from the JML website (www.jmldirect.com) priced at £9.99 however they are currently out of stock. I can't remember exactly how much I paid for mine but I'm sure it was a lot cheaper than that. Amazon currently have it for £7.50 with free P&P.

                      My verdict and own experience.
I think this is a great product. It removes dead hard skin well and leaves my feet feeling smooth and looking much prettier. The fact that it catches the shavings is great as it means no mess. The only down side I have found is having to hold it together, making sure it doesn't come apart whilst using it. Other than that a great buy.
