      Advantages

      Disadvantages

great for quick applications and fussy men

So i was on a mission to find a sunscreen that my boyfriend could apply quickly and painlessly in order to not get burned on our trip to the cottage for the weekend. I proceeded to my local drugstore at the last minute looking specifically for a spray formulation suncreen that contained just enough sunscreen to avoid a burn but still achieve a nice tan. I was a huge fan of the banana boat line of sunscreens, as i religiously use their tanning oil every summer and owe my bronzed summer skin to their products. So i was pleased to notice that they had a spray formulation with spf 8 that was a dry oil formula with an ultrafine mist. That sounded man-proof enough, so i carried it over to the checkout. It cost about 11 GBP for a 100 ml bottle which was expected, and the bottle seemed large enough to last a good few weekends away.

Day one of our weekend at the cottage, we get to the beach early and begin our suncare routine. My boyfriend sprays me with oil and i proceed to try the new product out on him. All skincare products advise application should be done 30 minutes prior to sun exposure, and so it is best to stay in the shade for 30 minutes before exposing the skin to the suns rays. So we sat under an umbrella and I sprayed his back, chest, arms and legs, but despite the fact that it is a fine mist, the product still needs to be rubbed in for proper absorption into the skin. I suppose it would be okay if one was lazy to simply spray the product on and leave it on without rubbing, however, i personally like to rub it in to ensure all areas get properly coated.

Another downside is that you have to apply the product first to your hands before applying to your face, and once my boyfriends rubbed the product into his face, he said he could taste it in his throat. So be careful to apply it away from the nostrils and mouth to avoid an unpleasant aftertaste. I was pleased with the packaging of the bottle at first because it is metallic and shiny and quite appealing to look at, however i noticed later it was quite hard to grip and spray with wet, or oily hands. So i was constantly having to wash/dry my hands before re-applying it which was a slight hassle.

The scent of the product smelled like an island in a bottle, it was cocounut scented which made it feel like we were away somewhere tropical. It also left the skin looking slick and shiny but not overly shiny like the oil formulations. My boyfriends skin felt smooth and after 2 hours he showed signs of a tan and no sign of redness which was a great sign overall. After being in the water for about half an hour he had to reapply and continued to bathe in the glow of the sun. He continued to use the product for the weekend and managed to avoid burning, and came back with a gorgeous brown colour. We were both extremely pleased with how easy the product was to apply and the protection was great even though the spf was low. We would definately recommend it to anyone who wants less hassle than traditional sunscreens.

        ...see review..

Okay so every year i make a promise to myself that i will cover my skin from head to toe in clothing and slather on sunscreen every few hours to protect myself from the sun. I am deathly afraid of all the negative properties that the sun can do to my skin including pre-mature aging and risks of skin cancer, therefore i am slightly ashamed to be writing this review of tanning oil. However, i never seem to keep this promise to myself as i usually end up back in the sun baking like a chicken till i look as close to done as you can imagine.

I love the sun and even moreso, i love being tanned. So last year when i found out that i was going on two trips, one to cuba and one to the south of france, i was ecsatic. At first i contemplated getting a spray tan done before i left for my trip, and i even thought about bringing self-tanner along with me, but i didn't want to deal with the hassle of having it run all over the bedsheets, and plus i didn't want to waste any of my 'relaxation time' on putting on self-tanner when i was supposed to be enjoying myself. So needless to say i went back to my tried and true favorite item that i had never been without on any summer vacation. I drove right over to my local drugstore to pick up my old friend 'Banana Boat Dark Tanning Oil' I bought one with spf 8 and one with spf 4. I have always been a HUGE fan of these tanning oils because they smell so delicious, a vacation was not a vacation without the smell of an island in a bottle(my only way to describe the scent) The bottle costs about £6.99 and the spray bottle is fantastic to spray anywhere you want to apply it without it spilling all over. I then packed the bottles in my luggage and placed them in a plastic bag to avoid spills or leakage, which is a handy tip to remember.

When i arrived in cuba the heat was sweltering and the sky was clear. I was just itching to lay under the hot golden sun and start working on my tan, but i made the immediate mistake of not waiting a day or two using regular spf 15-30 before gettign straight to the oil. I sprayed the oil all over me and the smell was just divine, i also love the way it makes my skin look on the beach all glistening. My horrible mistake though was that going from a canadian spring to a cuban summer and attempting to use only an spf 8 was a disaster. I ended up turning beet red and spending a sleepless night with ice packs all over my skin. This is very bad for the skin and especially increases skin cancer risks. I was in so much pain that i spent the next day on the beach wrapped in a towel with a huge hat on.

The third day of my trip i decided to use only an spf 15 and kept my tanning time to a minimal to get my skin used to the sun again. On the 4th day i spent half a day using the spf 15 and the other half a day i used the spf 8 tanning oil. My skin was now used to the sun and i was getting quite a nice colour. For the rest of the trip i alternated between the banana boat spf 4 and 8 and watched my gorgeous tan develop. The product lasts fairly long on the skin, but it MUST be re-applied after swimming and towel drying because it practically melts off in the water. However the oil itself lasts long on the skin when tanning, but it must be re-applies every couple of hours in order to ensure that the spf is still active.

I loved the way the oil made my skin feel like butter and it smelled delicious for hours afterwards. The product contains moisturizing ingredients and ' super rich blend of exotic oils, enriched with Aloe Vera and Vitamin A and E, nourishes your skin. ' It helps to keep my skin soft and smooth and hydrated for hours without clogging my pores or irritating my sensitive skin. My the time i was ready to leave for home i had a beautiful golden brown tan and less peeling than both of my friends who came along with me (they used spf 4 the entire trip).

I was thrilled with the gorgeous colour that i had achieved and the suppleness of my skin which i believe i could not have achieved without this dark tanning oil. I brought the product along with me to france as well and continued to improve my tan which gave me the skin of a bronzed goddess by the end of the summer. I know that skin cancer and the damaging effects of the sun are a good reason for people not to be baking in it, however i do notintend to influence people to use this product if they have never used it before or have a family history of skin cancer.

I want to make it clear that tanning is not healthy, and i am only providing my experience on the product for people who already enjoy natural tanning. For people with very fair skin, or those who burn easily, i do not advise using this product or atleast postponing use of this product until you have gotten use to the sun and have used spf 15-30 for awhile.

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

will never trust another cleanser for my sensitive skin.

I began using Clinique Liquid Mild Facial Soap when i first became a firm believer in Clinique products, especially their 3 step skincare system. However last year i had an allergic reaction to a food, which left my skin irritated and red. I was forced to look for the mildest cleanser on the market, and decided to stick with my favorite brand (clinique). I did not know that clinique offered an 'extra' mild cleanser, and therefore i was ecstatic when i came across it. The product costs a very worth-it £ 11.74 (approximately) for a bar.

The packaging is Cliniques signature clean green shade that looks as calm and gentle as the product itself. The bar makes it easy to bring this little soap around on vacation and the container is cute as well. I sometimes opt for the soap bar over the liquid version because it is usually cheaper. Having sensitive skin naturally i needed a product that wouldnt irritate it, cause breakouts, or dry it out like many other facial cleansers i have used in the past. However i still needed a product strong enough to clean deep down in the pores to keep my skin glowing and healthy without breakouts.

This cleanser promised to be mild and gentle, non-comodegenic (non- pore clogging),and will not dry skin out or irritate the most sensitive skin types. I was very intrigued by this promise and was determined to try this for myself after the lady at the clinique counter had fully sold me the entire 3 step skincare system and afew cosmetics to top it all off and blow a nice sized hole in my wallet. I was pleased that the mild cleanser did as it promised by providing the gentlest cleansing possible while still cleaning deep down into my pores.

The only downside to this product is that is does not remove make-up, which makes it a slight inconvenience. You have to fully remove all your make-up using a facial wash or eye make-up remover before using the mild facial soap. Once you have fully cleansed off your make-up, you can then rub the soap in your hands to get a lather and to warm it before applying it to your face in a circular motion. I like to begin by using warm water on my face to enlarge my pores to ensure deeper cleaning and better effectiveness when you use the cleanser.

The product is light and you only need a little bit for your whole face and it will produce the most delightful suds that actually feel like when you rub it over your skin because it is so
gentle. And because you only need a small bit, this product lasts quite a long time. An added benefit is that it actually smells really light and fresh, like a crisp clean tub of laundry drying in a spring breeze (thats the best way i can describe it). Therefore nothing about this product is irritating, rather it is a pleasurable experience that feels like a relaxing and rejuvenating spa treatment for your face.

The product rinses off effortlessly in an instant, that is another thing i really love about this product, no scrubbing required! It rinses off so cleanly and doesn't leave any residue behind on your skin. Once you have completely rinsed the product off, your skin feels so incredibly soft, smooth and clean. I love the feeling of my skin right after i dry my face because it is not the least bit irritated or dry, rather it feels moist, soft, smooth and comfortable. I then proceed with the rest of the 3 step skincare system which includes the clarifying toner and dramatically different moisturizing lotion. Also, for the best results use the product or the 3 step system twice daily for optimal skin benefits.

I definately recommend this product for anyone of any age, and skin type. The product is so gentle and effective that it will practically work for anyone, however it is best to use it in conjunction with the 3 step skincare system and speak to the clinique consultant for the cleanser thats best for your age, and skin type.

            Advantages

            Disadvantages

            overall great waterproof concealer..

I was first introduced to Lancomes Effacernes Concealer when i was in a rush to find a waterproof concealer to take with me on vacation. I did my research online and decided to pop into my local department store to browse the selection of top waterproof concealers. I tried many different variations on in the store but was persuaded my a saleswoman to purchase a concealer from Lancomes Effacernes line. I browsed the shades and finally decided apon the Beige(Neutral) III shade which worked well with my olive skin tone.

The packaging is quite plain and comes in a creme colour squeezie type tube with a black twist off cap, which looked easy enough to apply. I purchased the product at a quite bothersome $27.50 (18.00 GBP) but i was sold on the fact that the saleswoman told me that it would cover my dark circles effortlessly without feeling thick and cakey like most waterproof concealers. So i drove home convinced that this was the concealer of my dreams and that $27.50 was well worth it.

When i arrived home i immediately decided to put my new concealer to the test. I began by washing my face and following with my normal skincare routine, which consisted of cleanser, toner and moisturizer. I then squeezed a dollop of the concealer onto my pinkie finger and dotted it under my eyes, in the crease and on any noticeable spots that i wanted to hide. I then blended it in to the area being cautious not to rub too hard, and the product glided effortlessly over my problem spots. It covered my dark circles better than most concealers i had ever used, and the even better part was that it hardly felt like i was wearing make-up at all.

After applying the product i was determined to test its waterproof power by wearing it in the shower. I was pleasantly surprised when i was finished that the product did last through the entire shower session and was still on my face. However, after an entire day wearing the product i did need to re-apply twice, but this is still very good for a waterproof concealer that is strong enough to cover my dark circles even in the shower. I took the concealer on vacation with me, and it was definately a purchase that i do not regret as it also came in handy to cover a hive that i got one night on my trip. The price i would say is the only downside, however the small tube lasts a ridiculously long time as you really don't need much of the product to get the job done. I am a true fan of this concealer and will most definately buy it again once i get through this tube.

                Disadvantages

Overall great for length and definition

The very first time I tried Lancome Definicils Mascara, was when I received a mini size as a gift with purchase item. I was slightly disappointed with the product at first because im pretty sure that by the time I tried it, it was expired. Therefore it was clumpy and thick, and seemed heavy on my lashes. But then one day, I noticed the lashes on a friend of mine, which were perfectly defined and lengthened. I asked her if she was using a new mascara and she told me that she swore by Lancome Definicils for lash definition and length as opposed to thicker fanned out lashes.

After hearing her testimony, I was sold, and I ran out the next day to my local department store for this miracle mascara. When I first arrived at the counter I asked for the product and forked out almost $30.00 for the mascara which really hurt my wallet for such a small beauty item. However, I convinced myself that it was worth it and asked the lady for the darkest shade which was black. The mascara came in four shades: blue, brown, deep brown, and black. The black packaging was also nice and sleek, with gold detail and perfect to fit in my purse.

After purchasing the mascara I drove home anticipating the results of my new buy. When I arrived home, I followed my skincare regime as usual, by properly cleansing, toning and moisturizing my face. I then applied the basics of my make-up which are foundation, concealer, bronzer and blush, and then proceeded to apply my new mascara. The applicator wand itself is quite thin and scrawny looking, and I had to take some excess off the brush before applying. I then applied a sweeping stroke to my lashes from root to tip. After one application I already saw that each one of my lashes was perfectly, and precisely defined. I was thrilled, and continued to apply a couple more strokes to each set of lashes before I achieved my desired look.

My lashes were long and perfectly defined, they were hardly clumpy at all and I was very pleased with the results. I was even more pleased once I noticed that the mascara lasted all day without flakes or smudges, and therefore, it is definitely worth it. Even though the price was not the most affordable, I would still treat myself to this mascara every few months. I would recommend it to anyone who wants lash length and definition without clumps.

                  Disadvantages

Fabulous Gloss for shine without stickiness

I first discovered and fell in love with the Effet 3D high shine lip gloss by Bourjois Paris in the shade 'Rose Emblematic' for about $15-$20 from Sephora. The shade was a shimmery pink colour that looked gorgeous in the bottle but quite subtle on the lips, so I had to apply a lot to see a bolder colour. However, the shade was very flattering on my skin tone whether I am pale or back from vacation, and I liked this versatility. I was addicted to the glossy, light reflecting pigments in the gloss and the beautiful rosy flush it gave to my lips.

The application of the gloss is a breeze, because the applicator is a lip brush that glides smoothly over the lips for flawless application every time. The gloss is very shiny and super smooth, so it isn't goopy or unpleasantly sticky at all. I loved the texture of the gloss and how smooth it felt on my lips. I also prefer to use this product after applying a nude or light pink lip liner first, as it can stray outside of the natural lip lines. Another great benefit is the moisturizing oils in the product that keep lips supple and smooth. I always felt like i was treating my lips every time i applied this gloss and it has always been a favorite of mine.

The gloss is very shiny and flattering, however, it doesn't last very long and has to be re-applied repeatedly throughout the day. Other than the lasting power of the gloss, the product is quite shiny and an overall great gloss. The bottle does last a long time, as I have owned the product for over a year ago and it still isn't finished(but i tried to save it because it was my favorite). Overall great gloss, for shine and colour, but not the best for lasting time, but this is one gloss you won't mind re-applying.

The various shades of the glosses range from sheer and shimmery to bold and dazzling, and most colours are very flattering on any skin tone.

                  Shades:
                  Beige elastic
                  Brun galactic

                    Advantages

                    Disadvantages

                    Great bang for your buck!

I first discovered L'Oreal Infallible concealer when I was in desperate need of a concealer that matched my pale mid-winter skin now that my gorgeous summer tan had faded. Now, this was not a short and sweet trip to the cosmetics department, this was more like a good 2 hour ordeal in my search for 'the perfect' concealer. See I have quite bad dark circles, and the occasional blemish, and I have always spent good money on the best concealers on the market such as dermablend, MAC, Lancome, Clinique etc. However, now that I had just begun first year university and was paying most of my tuition myself, I knew that I had to call it quits with my long-term affair with expensive beauty products. Therefore, I was determined to leave the cosmetics counter with a concealer that somehow managed to do the same justice as my more expensive concealers of the past.

After trying various shades and brands of concealer on my skin, I now had a face that looked like a mosaic of beige, honey, crème, and ivory looking streaks and still hadn't found a proper concealer. Then I noticed L'Oreals Infallible Line, and tested both porcelain 2 and Vanilla shades on my skin. The vanilla seemed to look the closest to the shade I desired and it seemed to cover my dark circles quite well, and my spots became invisible. I was fairly pleased with the concealer but I knew that I had to put it to the test at home after applying the rest of my make-up. I was even more pleased when I took it up to the cash and was only required to pay a very reasonable $8.50 for it at the time.

When I arrived home I proceeded to cleanse and moisturize my face, as this helps to concealer to go on smoothly and not cakey looking. I then applied my new concealer by dabbing it onto the areas that were red and on top of a few spots, and then dotted all around my eye including under, over and in the corners. I then took my concealer brush and blended all the spots in and blended the concealer smoothly around my eye to conceal my dark circles. I did have to apply a few more spots to my under-eye for complete coverage. Then I continued by applying my foundation, a sweep of bronzer, blush, eye make-up and lipstick for a complete look.

I was absolutely thrilled with the result, as my dark circles were covered and my spots seemed invisible. I was also very pleased that the formula did not seem harsh, thick or drying on my skin, and rather smooth and supple. I was also incredibly pleased with the lasting power of the concealer as it lasted through my entire work day and I did have to re-apply to my under-eyes by the end of the day but my spots were still covered. I have never been so pleased with such an inexpensive concealer before as I have been with L'Oreal Infallible Concealer. I recommend it to anyone looking for a beauty bargain that actually works.

                      Advantages

                      Disadvantages

                      Great for a night out!

I discovered L'Oreal's Volume Shocking Mascara when I was on yet another pointless walk through the cosmetic section at my local drugstore(this is one of my horrible habits). I was immediately intrigued by the packaging of the product as it seemed like a clunky little contraption rather than a mascara. It had one side of the package that was white and the other side was black, and it fit in my hand the way a wrench would rather than a mascara. I was contemplating how I was ever going to fit this is my tiny purses, but as usual, I was convinced that bigger and more complicated must mean better. So I waltzed off to the counter to make another one of my infamous and random purchases that I always have to hide from my mum. The product cost about $15-$20 I can't really remember as this was awhile back, and I chose it in the shade of blackest black.

When I got home I began to read the packaging on the mascara before opening it, as I like to see if beauty products live up to their descriptions. This particular mascara promised super lush, luminous lashes that are achieved using a two step process. Step one is a comb that is supposed to define and smooth your lashes and prep them for the actual black mascara. Step two was the basic mascara that was supposed to be enriched with 'expansyl' which would volumize the lashes from root to tip giving a false eyelash look. My mouth dropped as I had never heard of a mascara that promised a false eyelash effect before, and was now so excited to try it for myself.

Now I unwrapped the product and washed my face before attempting to apply my new mascara. The product was said to be safe for contact lens wearers and therefore I put in my contact lenses before using the mascara. I began with Step 1 by applying a coat of what looked like a white mascara that glided onto my lashes, giving a ghostly look to them. I proceeded to let this dry and then went on to Step 2 which was the regular mascara. This mascara went over top the white base coat and thickened my lashes from root to tip. It did take a little while to fully cover all of the white spots but the final effect was well worth it. My lashes did look quite voluminous and rather false like, I was truly shocked at the products effectiveness. It also didn't look quite as clumpy as I had expected, and it was rather smooth for the most part.

I went out that very night to a club where I intended to bat my new lashes and have a good time with the girls. However I wasn't pleasantly surprised to find that by the end of the night, due to sweating and the heat in the place, the mascara had smudged a little bit and left a few flakes under my eye. This was rather disssapointing as I hate when a mascara can't withstand a whole night out. I was thinking of opting for the waterproof version of this mascara next time, which comes in a blue and white package. I was also abit disssapointed that I couldn't fit as much into my little purse because of the size of the thing, but I did have a false eyelash look that lasted most of the night.

When I arrived home after my night of partying I washed my face and the mascara removed fairly easily with soap and water, which I was sure would have been much more complicated. This mascara is one that I would opt for mainly for a night out with a date or to a party where there isn't a humid or sweaty atmosphere. I also recommend opting for a waterproof version in this circumstance. This is a great mascara to achieve a fake eyelash look, without the hassle of false lashes and it doesn't even take a million coats to achieve it. I was quite pleased with the product and would recommend it.

                        Advantages

                        Disadvantages

Highly recommended for people with fairly good skin/ combination skin- but not acne prone skin

I first came across L'Oreal Ideal Balance foundation when I was browsing the cosmetics section of my local drugstore and was in desperate need of a lighter foundation shade to go with my now pale mid-winter skin (I live in Canada so the climate is not the best for keeping a tan). However, I am not a huge fan of foundation as I find that it can sometimes look cakey, and usually ends of on my clothes and even more frequently on my boyfriends white shirts (which he detests). Thus, I attempt to avoid wearing foundation as much as the weather and my skin will permit it, as I much rather look natural and low maintenance than fully painted on.

So when I first saw this product I was a bit sceptical, it promised an oil-free, natural looking, soft finish, foundation that would provide the coverage I needed as I no longer had my summer tan to hide my flaws. I also have combination skin, and this product is specifically made for people with combination skin because it helps balance it out.

The Packaging said that it contains a dual action complex of Lotus flower extract to hydrate normal to dry skin and Hamamelia extract which mattifies oily skin. I was also pleased that it contained an SPF 10 in the formulation which is an added bonus. The product had 9 different shades to choose from and I chose the shade that was called Creamy Natural which was a golden crème shade that I figured would give me a nice healthy looking skin tone rather than my now pale white skin. The price was not the most reasonable, at around $28 a bottle, but I was convinced that this was 'the one' and so I strolled up to the counter to make my purchase.

Now I was so anxious to try my new foundation, but having nowhere really to go, I decided to make myself up and deal with making plans later. So I began by first performing my regular daily skin regime of the Clinique 3 step skincare system, which consisted of cleanser, toner and moisturizer. Once I was finished prepping my skin, I then applied a light coat of my smashbox foundation primer to provide the perfect base for concealer and foundation, as well as eye make-up. Then I took my foundation brush and wiped it with a slightly damp cloth to dampen the brush to allow for natural and even foundation application. Then I took my L'Oreal Ideal Balance Foundation and examined the product, which comes in a squeezy type bottle with a twist off grey lid. I then squeezed a dollop onto my palm and dabbed my foundation brush and applied a little bit of foundation onto one side.

Using the brush, I then began to apply the foundation in smooth even strokes downward all over my face, and carefully blending into the hairline and into any creases. The product glided on effortlessly and actually blended to a smooth flawless finish. My face was left looking so smooth and natural looking, and the shade did give my face a nice colour that didn't look the least bit fake or cakey.

The only downside was that the coverage was not the best, as I had to go over blemishes and redness with concealer afterwards, and so I would not recommend this to anyone with serious acne or problems that they need to cover heavily. My skin felt velvety smooth and not sticky or dry, and it didn't feel like I had just covered my skin in make-up.

I then proceeded to conceal my blemishes and redness with concealer, followed by bronzer, blush, eye make-up and lipgloss for a perfect look and sadly nowhere to show it off. So I called up my boyfriend and asked him if he wanted to go out for dinner, so I had somewhere to flaunt my gorgeous almost-natural skin.

I was really impressed with the staying power of the product as well, as it lasted through much of my night without any smudging or blotchiness. I also made the mistake of putting my head on my boyfriends shoulder, and once again, I managed to stain his freshly washed white shirt, causing him to curse my new foundation. I really didn't let that bother me as I now had a great new foundation to get me through the winter looking more like a snow queen rather than just looking white as snow.

                          Advantages

                          Disadvantages

Fab cleanser, i will never trust anything else with my skin!

I began using Clinique Liquid Mild Facial Soap when i first became a firm believer in Clinique products, especially their 3 step skincare system. The product costs a very worth-it $20(approximately) for a 6.7oz. bottle. The packaging is cliniques signature clean green shade that looks as calm and gentle as the product itself. The pump-type applicator is perfect and convenient and it is easy to use after you've washed off your make-up and need to find the cleanser with your eyes closed, this is perfect for times like this.

Having sensitive skin myself i needed a product that wouldnt irritate it, cause breakouts, or dry it out like many other facial cleansers i have used in the past, but i still needed a product strong enough to clean deep down in the pores to keep my skin glowing and healthy without breakouts. Instead this product was said to be mild and gentle, non-comodegenic (non- pore clogging),and will not dry skin out or irritate the most sensitive skin types. I was very intrigued by this promise and was determined to try this for myself after the lady at the clinique counter had fully sold me the entire 3 step skincare system and afew cosmetics to top it all off and blow a nice sized hole in my wallet. I was immediately determined to make a commitment to better skin in the future and believed that these new purchases would definately make all the difference for me.

The only downside to this product is that is does not remove make-up, which makes it a slight inconvenience. You have to fully remove all your make-up using a facial wash or eye make-up remover before using the mild facial soap. Once you have fully cleansed off your make-up, you can then take a small dollop in your palm and rub it between your fingers to warm it before applying it to your face in a circular motion. I like to begin by using warm water on my face to enlarge my pores to ensure deeper cleaning and better effectiveness when you use the cleanser.

The product is light and you only need a tiny drop for your whole face and it will produce the most delightful suds that actually feel like when you rub it over your skin because it is so
gentle. And because you only need a drop, this bottle will last a long time. An added benefit is that it actually smells really light and fresh, like a crisp clean tub of laundry drying in a spring breeze (thats the best way i can describe it). Therefore nothing about this product is irritating, rather it is a pleasurable experience that feels like a relaxing and rejuvinating spa treatment for your face.

Great for a fast gorgeous tan!

From Pale to Positively Glowing in No Time! -

The first time I came across this product was in the middle of winter a couple years ago. I had an upcoming wedding to attend and was dreading the exposure of my milky white skin to so many people. Trying on my red dress, I was horrified at my skins resemblance to snow white, and decided I needed a quick fix immediately. I was never a fan of tanning beds for health reasons, and have had bad experiences with salon spray tans in the past, so I excluded those as my options. I knew that self tanner was the only way to go and drove as fast as I could to my local drugstore for a quick foolproof product that would get me from pale to positively glowing in as little time as possible.

I scanned the labels and the L'Oreal Sublime bronze line seemed to catch my attention, the products were quite cheap about $10 a bottle, and they looked good enough. I read the label and the product promised to deliver a streak-free, gorgeous glow in as little as 30 minutes! I was ecstatic, and the added skin-smoothing benefits seemed like a bonus as well. The product came in three shades of light, medium and dark, so I purchased the tanning gel in 'dark' and was anticipating the end to my worries.

When I arrived home I began my pre-tan preparation by taking a hot shower and using a full body scrub all over where I was planning to use my self tanner. I then dried off and applied a light moisturizer for an even application of the product. When I was ready to apply my self tanner, I simply squeezed out a dollop of the product and applied in a circular motion on my skin carefully blending into the hairline and going lightly over highly absorbed areas such as elbows and knees. The product was dark brown with flecks of gold in it, which was creamy and smooth and went on evenly, allowing you to see where it goes to avoid streaks. It gave my skin an immediate lovely glow and the smell was pleasant and not strong or harsh like many other self tanners that I have tried in the past.

I then waited for the product to dry, and this process took quite awhile (about 30 minutes) but I waited an hour before changing in order to ensure that it was completely dry. I then applied a second application after an hour for a deeper colour. I then waited for this application to dry completely before going to bed and awaited my hopefully gorgeously glowing skin in the morning.

When I awoke the next morning my skin was even, and had a beautiful golden glow. The colour looked natural and was not as dark as I would have liked, but it did give me some colour and was very flattering on my skin tone. My skin felt gorgeously soft and smooth thanks to the added vitamins and skin enhancing properties. Overall the product saved the day for me, and I now looked like the healthy lady in red that I'd hoped for rather than the milky white complexion I had seen the day before. The product left no streaks, and did not have an unpleasant smell the next day. I was very pleased with this product and still use it to this day for emergencies like this one. I recommend this to anyone who needs an even golden glow fast for a big event. It is really quite a foolproof product that flatters even the fairest skin tones within looking unnatural.

                              Advantages

                              Disadvantages

Overall one of the best lipsticks i've used in years!

I came across the lovely little product called Clinique Long Last Soft Shine Lipstick when i was on one of my usual hunts for my favorite products at my local department store. After buying afew other clinique items that i cannot live without, i was immediately attentive to the colourful display of lipsticks in such tempting shades. I really couldn't resist.

The packaging was the first thing to really draw my interest partly because the lipsticks come in a shiny silver casing, and i am always drawn to shiny things. I was more stuck however on choosing just one shade as everything seemed to scream out at me. The colours were creamy looking and so much more shiny than typical lipsticks. With colours like Dubonnet, Merlot, Ginger Flower, Bamboo Pink, Watermelon, golden brandy, honey gloss, baby kiss, sunlit copper, the list goes on and the temptation was increasingly becoming harder to bare. So I decided upon the shade Dubonnet which is a mauve shade and golden brandy which is more on the rosy pink side. The price was expected but I still almost choked a bit when she added up my entire purchase. Each lipstick cost about $14.00, which doesn't seem too, too bad until things start to add up. I was so excited to get home and try my new products for a night out with the girls.

When I arrived home, i began to get ready for the busy night ahead of me. I was going to a friend's stagette party and i wanted my make-up to stay looking fresh for pictures. I took my shower, did my hair and was finally ready for my face. I began by priming my skin by using cliniques 3 step skincare system which includes a facial cleanser, toner and moisturizer, and I find that this routine helps my make-up to go on evenly and helps my skin to look smooth and luminous throughout the night. I then began with my make-up by using my facial primer, concealer, bronzer, blush, mascara, eyeliner and eye shadow. I was now ready for the main event, the focal point of my face, to be enhanced with my new Clinique products so that I could put them to the test.

I began by dusting a translucent powder over my face and lips, to help all of my make-up last longer and to give my lipstick a longer lasting time as well. I then lined my lips with a neutral/pinky lipliner before applying my new lipstick in the shade golden brandy. The lipstick glided over my lips like silk, and felt so creamy and luscious. It looked incredibly shiny and light reflecting, I was immediately pleased with my decision. I popped the gorgeous silver case in my purse for later touch ups and ran out the door for a fun-filled evening. My only hope was that my make-up would last as long as I would.

When I arrived at the party I actually received a few compliments on my make-up and a few of the girls even took down the name of the lipstick on a napkin so that they could go out and get it for themselves. I was increasingly becoming more and more pleased with myself and my previous shopping experience. The night wore on and after one too many drinks and a constant array of snacks i decided to go to take a trip to the restroom to see how well my lipstick stood through all the fun. When I looked in the mirror I was quite pleasantly suprised. My lipliner and lipcolour was still on my lips! The shine was not quite there anymore and the colour was slightly faded and quite paler now, however, after a few hours I was still impressed with how well it stood through the night. My lips didn't feel dried out as with most other lipsticks, and it didn't creep into the fine lines of my lips either.

With 40 shades to choose from, I suggest you head out to Clinique now to pick up the shade that works for you. This may be a difficult decision, however if you go right up to the clinique counter you can test them all on your skin. Otherwise go online at www.clinique.com and type in 'Clinique Long Last Soft Shine Lipstick' in the search prompt. It will give you a listing of all the shades, and you simply scan your mouse over the shade to see its actual colour. This lipstick is definitely recommended for its gorgeous shiny finish, the lovely shades and its long lasting factor, and I may be a fan for life.

                                Advantages

                                Disadvantages

Fab product for stressed out, oily, or pore clogged skin.

I first heard of the Clinique Deep Cleansing Emergency Mask through a friend after a long, tiresome weekend. I was recovering from a 24 hour hangover, and my skin was dry and pasty looking after spending two nights in a smoky, sweaty club that literally sucked the moisture from my skin...and it showed. I had pimples, broken capillaries, enlarged pores, dark circles(from the lack of sleep), and my skin felt tight, dry and rough. I was in need of face therapy, until my friend saw me and bluntly told me i was in need of more than that. So she went to her bathroom and came back to me holding the little green tube of this clinique product. I read the label which read 'Clay-based treatment for oily, pore-clogged, skin-under-stress,' and I knew that yes..this was the right product for my situation. The instructions said that the product can be used as a quick fix, in which you leave it on for only 5 minutes, or as a pampering experience where you leave it on for 20 minutes. My friend threw me a washcloth and told me not to come back out until i've left the stuff on for 20 minutes. So i took her advice and proceeded to see how much of an emergency this thing could fix.

I wanted to go all out, so i peeled a cucumber into thin strips for my eyes hoping that it would cure the puffyness while my face was being pampered. I washed off any traces of make-up from the night before and used a cream cleanser. I rinsed this off with warm water in order to open my pores and prepare them for the mask, which would allow the product to get deeper down into the pores and work more efficiently. I then squeezed a dollop of the white clay-based mask onto my finger and applied a thin even coat to my skin all over, excluding the eye area as the package instructions said. I then placed the cucumber strips on top of my eyes and laid down, praying for a skin miracle.

I began to feel a difference within a few minutes, as my face felt tight (from the clay drying) and my face felt slightly tingly and cool, so I could really feel this product working on my skin. I must have dozed off because my timer went off alot quicker than i imagined, and when I went to the mirror my skin looked like a porcelain mask that had cracked. The clay dried completely and had cracked lines all over my face, my eyes seemed less puffy though so I knew that one thing had worked. I rinsed off the product with warm, tepid water until it had finally come off. This process was a bit tricky as some of the product stuck to my eyebrows, random strands of hair, and on my nose, so it did take a small amount of scrubbing to get off. The product is not the easiest thing to rinse off once it's dried, however it will eventually with a little patience.

When I was finished rinsing off the product i followed with my friends Clinique 3 step skincare system (which I also swear by) which includes the facial cleanser, Toner, and dramatically different moisturizing lotion. I had already noticed during this process that my skin felt incredibly smooth and much more hydrated. When I looked in the mirror i had a glow to my skin and it looked much less tired than it had before. Even my pimples and large pores looked smaller, and my skin looked even and brighter than before.

I was pleasantly surpised when i walked out and boasted to my friend that i was now a believer. She too noticed the difference and I now felt much more confident to step outside the front door without my shades and a hat in fear of scaring the neighbours. After the experience i decided to purchase the product for myself, and it cost about $20.00 for a 3.4 fl.oz. bottle, but i knew that it was most definitely worth it. I need this handy after a long weekend of partying that can really take a toll on the skin. The packaging may be fairly plain however i cannot judge a beauty product by its package as I have learned from many bad experiences. The product is not the easiest thing to rinse off once it's dried, however you will see the difference immediately in your skin. I definitely recommend this to anyone who is in the midst of a skin emergency; keep this in your facial first-aid kit for times when your skin needs a quick fix or some extra therapy. It's definitely worth the price and the time it takes for it to rinse off, because your skin will thank-you later.

                                  Advantages

                                  Disadvantages

Overall a great treat to splurge on

I first saw an ad for Lancome's juicy tubes lip glosses in a magazine, and was immediately enticed by the colourful packaging, the gel like consistency that proved to never be sticky, and the great flavours and shades available. I love fruity and sweetly flavoured lip glosses so i figured this one might be good to try and see if it compares to my previous favorites. I went into my local drugstore and walked straight up to the specialty make-up counter, as i scanned the rows and rows of perfumes and lotions and potions, i finally found what i was looking for. Gorgeously displayed were the juicy tubes almost every colour of the rainbow and neatly organized from clearest to most colorful. I knew that colour didn't matter so much because these were not meant to add colour, rather to add shine and that gorgeous glossy effect that only a good lip gloss can create. Colours with names like marshmallow, peche, melon, and sorbet de cherise made my mouth water and my mind race at the thought of the complicated question which i am normally faced with in difficult situations like this...'which one should i choose?' I ask myself and decide upon marshmellow and pamplemousse for their pinkish shades and fabulous scent. However, there were many more varieties to choose from, the juicy tubes ranged from being totally transparent or with a hint of shimmery sparkles for a glistening effect.

The cost is not exactly the most enticing to hear, at about $21.00 for a 15 ml tube i almost considered putting one shade down, but i knew i would regret it later so i handed over my visa and tried to focus on the satisfaction i would feel when i placed my new gloss on my everdeserving lips. The packaging itself is perfect in the way that it displays the shades properly and is neat, clean and simple. It's tube tip applicator is great for quick on-the-go application. When i got home i applied my make-up as usual, foundation, eye make-up, bronzer blush, neutral lip liner to keep my new gloss in my lip lines, and i was now ready for the finishing touch. I took my new purchases out of the back and decided to try marshmellow, i untwisted the cap and took a whiff of the signature sweet, sticky, intoxicating signature scent of marshmellow and began to apply a coat to my bottom lip gliding from one corner to the other and up and around my upper lip in one smooth motion. I rubbed my lips together out of habit and the sensation was amazing, so smooth and delicate and the scent still freshly wafting up into my nose. I looked in the mirror and was immediately pleased with the gorgeous glossy, laquered effect that the gloss gave my lips, and the way it smoothed into the lines of my lips giving them a fuller appearance was an added plus.

The gloss lasted very long on my lips and kept them moist and deliciously flavored for quite a long time. It only came off once i had to catch a bite to eat and i didn't mind, because i was excited to reapply. The lancome juicy tubes are like a sweet treet for your lips and bring me back to my childhood with its delicious sweet scents. I love the glossy effect it has on my lips without being sticky and its staying power is truly remarkable. I recommend using a lipliner to keep the gloss in your lips so that it doesnt seep outside of the natural lip line which can tend to look quite silly. Overall this was a great purchase if your willing to splurge and indluge in lip gloss that is tantalizingly sweet and gorgeously glossy for whenever you want your lips to be the center of attention.
