This is another great offering from Mr turner himself, the next album after Sleep is for the Weak. This album is more 'love songy' compared to sleep is for the weak, it still holds some classics though such as Photosynthesis and Long live the queen. Long live the queen is a particularly personal track from frank as it is about a friend he had who passed away due to cancer. It is a very sad song and Frank portrays this very honestly, it's also an uplifting song though as it carries a very good message. Reasons not to be an idiot sounds like it should have been on sleep is for the weak, a brilliant song. Track 11 St Christopher is coming home is a brilliantly uplifting track about friendship and commeradery! It brings back the feeling of old school England! This album is a must buy but I think sleep is for the weak is better
Frank Turner - this album is the amazing debut album from Frank Turner, former Million Dead front man. I was a fan of Million dead and went to see them a few times which is where i'd heard of Frank Turner before. After I read they had split and Frank was to be doing some solo stuff I got straight on the interenet and eagerly awaited his first album. Now being a fan of Million Dead, this was not what I was expecting as they were a really fast, ferocious punk band that dominated the stage! I put it on and what I found was brilliant... the songs have so much depth and feeling and the lyrics are far more personal than I have heard from any other solo artist. Ever since, Frank Turner has become my favorite artists and having been to see him a few times he is also a genuinly nice bloke too!! I am very passionate about this album and all he has done since - you must buy this!!
What can I say about this album, it's rare that an album comes a long and changes your life, but this one really did for me. I first heard Tonight Tonight as I saw the video on a music channel whilst talking to my friend at home one night and he told me to watch it as it was a brilliant song. I loved it straight away - Ok i thought it was strange and unlike anything i'd really seen of heard before, but that was the smashing pumpkins all over. After that I bought the album and all the others that they had released too. The song Tonight tonight is now one of my favorite songs, and it has many special memories for me. The rest of the songs on this album are certainly not to be scoffed at either, I wouldn't say there was a bad song on here. Revolutionary
This is the best Nirvana album in my opinion. Basically because of the beautiful rawness of the songs and Kurt's vocals. Nothing is polished like some other studio albums, and the set that they chose is just amazing. There is a couple of covers in there like 'Jesus doesn't want me for a sunbeam' by the 'vaselines' and 'The man who sold the world' by David Bowie. The man who sold the world for me is a real faveorite. It really shows the rawness of Kurt's voice and the ease in which he sings. The album was released after Kurt's death, and you can see when you watch the performance on TV that Kurt isn't one for being so exposed. He looks uncomfortable with the camera so focused on his every word but in a way that is what makes this performance such a key one in the life of Kurt because it is one of a kind. Every Nirvana fan will have this in their collection.
This album will never get old, a bit like the legacy of Kurt Cobain himself. Nirvana were the beginning of grunge, a massive genre that would shape the music from the 90's onwards. Most bands these daysd have Nirvana as an influence as they were the voice of the angry teenager and still are to many today. I can say that Nirvana are my favorite band and this album brings the best of what they were about to the forfront. Of course most people know of Nirvana for 'Smells like teen spirit', which was not one of Kurt's personal favorites. Track 12, something in the way is personally my favorite on the album as I feel it brings such a personal edge on Kurts life with very personal lyrics. I feel that this album is great for Nirvana 'virgins' as it has a bit of everything to give you an idea of what the band were all about
This album for me holds amazing memories - it is and always will be the soundtrack to my time spent in Las Vegas two years ago! The stage show by Cirque De Soliel is just fantastic at the Mirage hotel on the las vegas trip. I did not own this album before that time, so on my way out i picked it up. Since then it has always been a firm favorite on the CD player! This album is a compliation of the Beatles tracks which have been re-mastered to blend them in and run into each other. All the songs are great which is a rare thing on an album these days! It really brings together the essence of the Beatles in this really pleasent album. You will find yourself going back to it. If you are a fan of the beatles you will not be disappointed with this album!
Well well well, Tenacious D! This album is partnered with their hit movie 'The pick of destiny' so all of these songs feature in the film. I am a fan of these guys, Jack Black and Kyle Gass as for me they do not dissappoint! At first I bought this album thinking maybe it will wear off after a few listens but it is still funny and very catchy stuff!! I particularly LOVE papagenu - what a genius song!! And Dude I totally miss you is actually a really sad song! Master exploder you cannot beat! Great lyrics throughout that will leave you chuckling, and I am infact suprised at how much I do find myself putting this album on... it seems to be a favorte with me and my friends when we take car journeys as it really is an 'everyone scream along' album! Overall great fun and a great accompanying album to a funny film!
Brand New ROCK!! This latest installment from the band did not disappoint any of their existiong fan base. In fact it gained quite a few in the mean time!! I found this album to be very personal and in depth, some of the lyrics are very pro found and even haunting in a way, Jesse's vocals have seem to come on a long way compared to their very early stuff, bringing a sense of maturity with this album. I saw them live a couple of years ago and they really do pull it off well. Great stage prescence too is inspiring and the lyrics to this album and their last 'Deja Entendu' are very thought provoking. I think this is a masterpiece from Brand new, and I personally, like thousands out there cannot wait to hear what they will be producing for us in the near future! Brilliant album, you won't be dissapointed!
Well what Can I say about Kings of Leon... what an awsome band!! I have been a fan since their first album after hearing Molly's Chambers from a friend. Ever since then I have been hooked. I do not however think that this is their best album, but it is by far their most commercial and commercially sucessful offering to date. It is commercial for a reason, the first single released was 'Sex on fire' which as from the title, sex sells! It bought them a whole new audience from what they had previously experienced which is not always a good thing. Yes it has seen them rocket to fame, but it has also made them a household name which KOL never wanted to be... and to those large portion of fans, they will only be known for that track or at most this album. This is not what KOL are all about, to get the real feel for them you need to own 'Aha shake Heartbreak' and 'because of the times'. This is real KOL and a lot more in depth and interesting that 'Only by the night'. They have even been reported to have said that they are going to make a really heavy album for their next installment to get rid of the fans who have latched onto Sex is on fire.... BRING IT ON!!
This album is brilliant! Eyebrow raising comedy lyrics along with the New Zealand charm of Brett and Jermaine! I don't know how anyone could not like these two. This album accompanies the tv series so if your a fan you would have come across these tracks. It really is genious how they manage to put such great comedy into music. The only track I'm not the most keen on is the last one, Robots. I feel it's a bit too silly where as the others are pretty clever in their lyrics, particulary Business Time and If you're into it... you get a bit of the laughter from acknowlegment as you know what they are singing about is true. All my friends love this album and the accompanying tv series - long rain the Conchords - their lyrics are bottomless in the words of Jermaine - Yeah!! You'll be hooked after listening to this!
Another great installment from Radio one's Live Lounge. Always an interesting compilation as the artists get to choose another bands / solo artists song and cover it. Some are great and even better than the originals for example look at the sucess Amy Winehouse had with 'Valerie'. I think it is a very interesting album, not unlike the two previously. It takes the artist outside their comfort zone as they sing another's song and try to make it their own, it's great to hear what they can do to it. My favorites personally are the accoustic versions as they really have a raw sound about them and it is a real chance to hear the artists raw talent as opposed to the studio, 'pollished' version we get normally. There is a range of different characters on this version, from Dizzee Rascal to the Foo Fighters, to the streets and Pendulum, there really is something for everyone and I often find you end up becoming a fan of the most unlikely of the bunch!
This offering from Lily Allen will not disappoint her loyal fans. It still has that appealing but quite strange factor of having upbeat songs with some dark and personal lyrics! Her massive hit - 'Fear' is one you will not be able to get out of your head, and the close to the bone 'Not Fair' is both comical and rude to the point where you don't want to play it in front of your grandparents! This catchy up-beat album will attract the kids of school age but shoukd they really be exposed to lyrics like these? I don't think so. Some of the songs do however lack depth and you are left to feel that they are infact 'album fillers'. There is deffinitly at least 2 top 3 singles on this album, it's just a shame that not every song is worthy of a place on it. 6 out of 10!
I bought this before myself and my sister went away on holiday, she had the game too which means you can play wireless between two players. As part of the bundle you get the game, the 'guitar' which is a hand piece that attaches to the side of the DS which has a strap to go round your hand to stay in place. I also have this game on the Xbox 360 and it goes without saying that the graphics on the 360 are brilliant, the DS however is a little basic. The game however is a lot of fun to play especially if you are playi ng against a friend, and it is challeneging depending how you compare on the guitar but there really is a level for all, you can have it very easy or very hard! Overall, a good game for the DS compared to some of the games out there and it does provide a lot of entertainment!
I have owned the Nokia N95 now for 18months. At first I was unsure whether to take out such a long contract as my other phones didn't even last the 12 months without looking battered but to this day the N95 only has a couple of tiny nicks! A brilliant phone with the best camera I have seen on a mobile, the Carl Zeiss camera has deffinitly benifited the N95. Some great features on this phone and although some people do not like the 'bulky' look of this handset I love it, it feels sturdy and durable which it most deffinitly is. I would recommed this phone to anyone. At first the buttons feel fiddly as they are very small but after about a week I was used to this and texting at my usual speed! Everyone that had a look at my phone liked it, and the 8gb memory is a huge bonus as mine holds hundreds of great quality pictures!
Ok, firstly... look at the colour of this laptop! Isn't it just gorgeous! Ok... now to the serious bits, I bought this just before Christmas from a famous electrical shop. The salesman was telling me all about it and for the features it had, was looking like the best buy for me, so off I went. When I got home, it was easy to set up, Vista of course was the operating system which is nice. I have not yet had a problem with this laptop, it is so easy to use and it a durable machine. I would always go for Sony Vaio's in the future, for the look and the life of the products. This will not look 'dated' for a good few years. I'm not very 'techy' when it comes to computers but as I said, no probalems as yet and my old one used to play up ALL the time! Would recommend this laptop to all - happy surfing!! PS - The wireless function is very good, goes a good distance!
