At only £2.59 a time i decided this mascara was worth a try, heres what i noticed about it, etc.
Firstly the mascara casing is very shiny and good looking especially with that kind of price tag. For most of the other basic ranges from places like boots you only get a plain white casing so this was a nice change which was well appreciated.
Secondly when you pull the wand/applicator out of the tube there was lots of excess covering the brush. This took time and effort to wipe of also wastes some of the actual product.
When applying the mascara i noticed that anywhere that you dont brush lightly starts to get clumpy immeadietly, this however is easily averted by just taking a couple of minutes more during the application so you dont get the clumps.
I would say the mascara definately does not have any 'volumisisng' effects on your lashes.
Also the mascara does last quite a long time especially for the price.
Over all a great little mascara for a price like £2.59, lacura should definately increase thier range of products in my eyes.
I bought this compact powder from aldi along with the foundation, mascara, etc.
At around £2.50 for each item i believe the lacura range to be one of the cheapest around.
The powder stocks only have a limited range of colours, yet these colours tend to suit most colours and also most skin types.
The main things i notifced about the powder were firstly the applicator, the powder itself is great but the applicator is useless if you use the provided sponge/pad it holds to much powder, giving an uneven colour and 'patchy' effect. For people who have already invested in a good set off brushes this wont be such an issue, even if you had to go out and buy a good brush the amount you save from the powders price this saving would if not from one buy but from a couple should certainly cover any costs for brushes. When applied with a brush however this powder is great it goes on smoothly and feels silky and soft to touch.
The second thing i noticed was that the powder didnt last 'hours and hours' it needed reapplying after two or three hours which could become tedious. This leads me on to my third point.
The powders biggest weak point is durability one compact if reapplied say two or three times a day may only last for 2 or 3 weels, which is a lot less than other compacts.
Also carrying the compact in my bag i opened to find it all crumpled and broken up which can be very inconvenient leaving a beige film over all my things.
Overall i would say this powder is basically what you would expect for the price. The other products in the lacura range really are great however i think this made the powder fall short of my 'expectations', this compact is okay but nothing spectacular. In this case i would definatley recommend in investing in a decent powder, even if it will cost a heck of a lot more.
Ill admit i bought this product merely out of laziness, it was just to last me a few days until i could go and buy a 'proper' foundation.
I have to say at £2.59 i am astonished by this foundation.
The foundation, sadly, is only available in a few limited colours, however on evaluation i think this is actually a good thing.
The colours available are basically light, medium, dark (although with different names).
Being a lightly tanned person i decided to go for the medium (Beige).
The foundation i later found out, is amazingly easy to apply, it goes on smoothly and evenly with hardly any effort needed.
Once applied the foundation feels silky to touch and i hardly noticed i was wearing any at all. It stays on for a good few hours yet is easy to remove when you need to.
Ive also noticed that i actually prefer this to the more expensive foundations i usually buy which are over 5 times the price(!)
The foundation also makes a great base coat for applying powder to, or can be left alone for a more natural look.
At £2.59 this foundation is an amazing buy, I'd definatley recommend for people to buy it, even just to try it out, this foundation if you decided its right for you would save most people an absolute fortune compared to the extortionatley priced foundations of todays beauty market.
This new adaption on the old sherlock holmes really does give the story of/ charachter of holmes a whole new lease of life. I believe that it was definatley an overdue 'special effects' adaption of this old tv/film extravaganza.
The great thing about the film is that it retains the cynical yet superior intellect that holmes has, him firmly believing throughout the film that everything must always have a logical explanation.
The star studded cast give a great performance, i especially enjoyed the likes of mark strong who plays the 'baddie' of the film brilliantly.
This modernisation of the film also lived up to the expectations graphically and special effects wise, with exposions and some amazing fight scenes, also the general landscapes were done really well.
I think they pulled of the centurys ago type of film well.
The great thing about the film is that it really does have a difinative ending, all the loose bits get tied up, the storyline is explained and to many people who would still be pondering over the way things are done it really is great to have it all layed out like that in front off you.
Airhead released may 13th 2008, is the first in a trilogy of meg cabots airhead series, and it is a slightly out of the ordinary teenage book. I think that this book, even though aimed at the teen age group, is definately more of a young adult book, i wouldnt expect this book to be given to for example a 12-13 year old. This book is certainly aimed at the female side of the market by any means. On first picking up this book ready to read i had no clue that the storyline would take such a dramatic twist. The book starts of fairly slowly, giving the impression that its just another teen-romance story, as you start to delve deeper into the book you begin to realise that this is plainly not the case. Without giving to much away i think i would say thiers a slight underlying sci-fi theme. Being part of a trilogy however i would say for some people may ruin this book as it ends very abruptly i imagine to continue onto the next book. This left me weak with anticipation however i understand that for some types of reader this would not be the case. Anybody a little sceptic i would definatley recommend a read of this book, its a nice light read.

A whisper of Diorissimo on this cold day makes me imagine spring. I glance at the dark rooftops covered with white patches of snow, black outlines of icicle draped trees against the grey sky and even though the landscape is morose and silent, I can almost feel the warm breath of spring. The frozen winter vista is almost scent-free, which I find renders rich, oriental fragrances somewhat overwhelming. Instead, I tend to reach for citrus, iris, orange blossom and other delicate white floral fragrances. Like Venice covered in snow, the impossibly transparent and airy Diorissimo (Christian Dior) is a perfume whose beauty is only enhanced by the cold. Then again, just like Venice, it is beautiful regardless of time and season .
Created by one of the greatest perfumers of the 20th century, Edmond Roudnitska, Diorissimo (1956) is an excellent example of a perfume classic. Although it celebrated its 50th birthday last year, this perfume is beyond the effects of time, beyond trends and fashions. It is also a beautiful testament to perfume artistry. Inspired by the elusive fragrance of lily of the valley whose white bells resist giving up their fragrance using conventional methods of distillation, Diorissimo was Roudnitskas stance against the heavily lactonic and sweet fragrances of the time. The fragrance was created for the perfume house of Christian Dior, who considered lily of the valley to be his lucky flower. Indeed, the composition wonderfully embodied the lightness, the elegance and the femininity of Diors fashion.
In Roudnitskas vast repertoire, Diorissimo stands out as the least abstract and yet it is rather stylized. It is not a posy of delicate lily of the valley, but rather a dream-like image of flowers growing in the forest. Diorissimo unfolds with green leafy notes, which suggest the buds of springtime covered with translucent sap. The heart of the beautiful lily of the valley is painstakingly reconstructed from a range of materials, from natural essences to synthetic components. Its radiance and harmony are breathtaking. Although Diorissimo retains its sheer and floral character, a subtle animalic hint infuses life into what could have been a beautiful piece of marble. It feels like a living flower that speaks of spring days that are soon to come.
For all of its delicacy and transparency, Diorissimo has a gorgeous trail and tremendous lasting power, which is another affirmation of Roudnitskas genius. The fragrance features notes of bergamot, lily of the valley, jasmine, lily, amaryllis, sandalwood and civet. It is currently available in the Eau de Toilette and the parfum (Parfum de Toilette used to be available at one point as well.) Unfortunately, the fragrance has been reformulated to comply with the regulations of International Fragrance Association (IFRA) as well as to replace animalic materials, with the result being a version that strikes me as somewhat strident. The parfum is better, but it also contains the same screechy synthetic woody note in the base that ruins the appeal of Diorissimo for me. Still, the allure of this fragrance is such that even these changes do not prevent me from enjoying it.
