Remington EP5000 Epilator
This is the first and only epilator I have ever used so I cannot compare to overs on the market there are quite a lot of reviews about epilators and I did read a few before I took the plunge as they can be quite expense and I didn't want to waste my money on some thing I would never use.
So I opted to get the Remington about a 2 years or so ago I think it was about £40 but now retails at about £25- £30 there are much cheaper epilators on the market Argos have there own brand for £14.99 which might be a good starter one.
What you get...
With the epilator you get a storage bag with a zip really handy to keep every thing together also included is the plug-in charger a interchangeable shaving head with two protective caps that click on the heads and a small cleaning brush. I didn't release that it came with a shaving head so that was a pleasant surprise and the heads click on and off really easily. The charger cord is quite long as well so you can use the epilator while plugged in even though it is chargeable I usually use it plugged in as when unplugged it isn't as powerful but the charge is ment to last about 60 minutes which it does but the speed keeps up for probably about half and hour before it dulls but you can get all your epilating done in this time unless like me you need to pull yourself together and pluck up the courage each time you do a patch! There are also the options of two different speeds I tend to use the fastest and I feel this gets it over quicker!
A bit of (very rough) quick maths...
You can save money with an epilator over time, say you usually use razors I am going to use wilkionson sword ladies extra II beauty disposable razors pack of 10 at £3.35 per pack as an example so that 35p each time you use one (quite good value actually) and say you shave every other day and use a new one every time (I did this myself personally) so 16 razors a month comes to £5.60 that means if you by a epilator at £28 thats 5 months of razors so in the first year you will save £39.20 and the following year £67.20 assuming your epilator last that long and mine has lasted 2 years so far and still going strong!
Now what you really want to know...
Dose it hurt? Answer yes! But the good news is the more you use it the less it hurts remember when you first started plucking your eyebrows? Personally I remember it hurt so much my eyes would water and I hated doing them now I don't even feel it! And this is the same with the epilator the longer and more often you use it the less you feel the pain. Another reason I got the Remington EP5000 was because I was fooled by the 'massage gloves to ease the pain' now as I said I have only ever used this epilator so haven't used one with out the 'massage gloves' but to me these don't really do anything there like a row of little rubber bumps around the edge of the tweezers that dont seam to do anything at all.
I have used it on my under arms as well and this really did hurt (I am a bit of a wimp though) so I don't really use the epilator under my arms but I do use the shaving head what is just like a standard electric razor I find you get a nice smooth finish but it does sting a little bit and I wouldn't recommend put deodorant on straight after!
Using on the bikini line I plucked up the courage to try a few times but I just found the pain to much I wish I could do my bikini line and I am sure if you can do it a few times the pain will ease and you will hardly feel it as with your legs but I just cant do it.
How to get very smooth legs...
This is very possible and easy to first off its best to epilate after a hot bath as the heat opens your pores and lets the hairs come out easier and its also really good to exfoliate while in the bath to get rid of dead skin cells. With my epilator I start at my ankles (the most painful part) and use in circular motions you will feel when most of the hairs are gone its quite hard to get them all, and its best try it first after not shaving for a few days as there aren't as many hairs so it doesn't hurt as much. After epilating go back over with the shaver, again in circler motions then apply plenty of moisturizer as your legs can get very dry.
How long does it last?
Well everyone is different and your hair can grow at different rates I find after epilating after around 3-4 days you may have to go over again quickly to get all the hairs after that the results can last 4-6 weeks before you have to do it again also I have found my hairs have become thinner and take longer to grow back now... so really stick with it and there will be less pain and less hair.
First time tips...
Don't be intimated by the loud whirring sound try it some where with less or no hair first to put you mind at ease.
It helps to pull the hair taught on the sensitive areas like the ankles and under arms.
Be warned the first few times you use it you may have a little irritation and red bumps but this should go after a day or two.
Be careful of ingrown hairs as this can happen it has only happened a few times with me but this can hurt as well.
Its easy and simple to use not to heavy fits well in your hand. Stick with it and you have great results its just a bit annoying and can be a long process but when you only have do do it once a month its not really that bad.
Thanks for reading didn't know I could write so much about hair removal!
My name is Emmeline although pronounced Emmelean I am 22 years old and live in the south east I am currently at university in london studying graphic design. Dooyoo is the first site that does what it does that I have ever come across and that happened about a week ago I feel quite out of touch not knowing about it actually! I am just starting to get to grips with the site and I think its great how there are members out there that give you a helping hand its really nice to find, and hopefully when I have a few more reviews under my belt I will able to be as helpful.
So just a little more about me I love watching films and reading and much of my spare time is spent doing both (and now visiting dooyoo the slightly addictive site!) And pretty much the rest of my time is spent at uni or doing work for uni all of which is spent on my laptop so really to sum up my life 80% of it is sat on my bum!
Well any way I intended to keep this short as Im sure you would like to get back to reading reviews that actually might help you in life.. but thank you very much for reading.
Rimmel Lash Accelerator Mascara
Retails at around £9 but the price seems to be dropping I wonder why...
I brought the Rimmel lash accelerator mascara about three months ago and I have now stopped using it because I tend to buy a new mascara every three months or so as even though mascaras never seem to run out I find they stop working to there best after about 3-4 months I did replace my mascara with a much cheaper brand and I find it has the same affect as its pricier 'lash accelerator' competitor. So the Rimmel lash accelerator, I got this when it was on special offer at boots I cant actually remember the offer but I thought I would give it a go as the sound of the magic 'unique grow-lash complex' that 'strengthens, nourishes and renews' your lashes how could I resist!
Well the application is really quite good I didn't find it clumpy and it goes on very easy it dose take a little time to dry but I am used to this personally as I pile mascara on. They claim that your lashes appear up to 80% longer they defiantly didn't appear 80% longer but I suppose the key words are up to aren't they. Your lashes do appear quite a bit longer though but no more than any other lash building mascara but as I said I pile my mascara on and you need to do that with the lash accelerator one just keep building up layer on layer to get a good result.
I didn't find that my lashes looked fuller at all but my lashes did end up nicely separated and not like spider legs!... so you do get naturalish looking lashes.
Now the important bit after at least 90 days of use 3 times longer than they say to use it to get (important words again) 'up to' 117%... did my lashes grow... erm that would be a no.. not really. There is the slightest possibility they grew 5% but defiantly no more than that and that could be all in my head unfortunately I didn't make a record.
Over all as a mascara it isn't a bad one but I wouldn't buy it again purely for the fact they say it promotes natural lash growth for up to 117% longer looking lashes after 30 days and in my case this was a lie but this is just my experience. I might be the exception so if your used to spending around £10 for your mascara you might as well give it ago as it isn't a bad mascara for every day use.
This is the first washer dryer I have had and I find it very useful as I do not have any out side space to hang my washing and its great having them combined as you can put a wash on and set to dry after the wash and just leave it and when you come back your washing will be washed and dry.
Washer/dryer - front loading
Max load capacity - 6 kg
Max drying capacity 4kg
Spin speed 1400 rpm (max)
Energy consumption per cycle 1.14 kWh
Average water consumption per cycle 135 litre
Voltage 230- 240 V
Dimensions (wxDxH) 60cm x 54cm x 85cm
Washing machines are supplied to operate at a voltage of 230-240V 50 Hz single phase. So check that the supply circuit is rated to at least 13A.
The cold water pressure should be between 0.5 and 8 bar.
There are 3 compartments
The mainwash detergent compartment maximum dosage is 200ml of powder
The fabric conditioner compartment maximum dosage 200ml
The prewash detergent compartment maximum dosage 100ml powder
The dispenser can get quite dirty and there can be a lot of build up in the conditioner compartment the dispenser can be pulled right out with a firm tug and cleaned easily enough in the sink but this needs to be done often enough to make it easier to clean in the long run.
The control panel...
There are a lot of options but they are well labeled you don't need read a manual to work them out unlike some machines.
There is a start/pause button you press this to start your wash once you have selected or the options you need you can also press this at any time if you want to pause your wash by holding down for a few seconds. The door lock indicator light will remain on for about 2 minutes and then the door can be opened when this light goes out. To restart the wash program again just press the button again once.
You can also cancel and change the program you have selected by turning the program selector to off and then choosing a new program.
The countdown display indicates you with small lights...
60' 30' 15' stop }this indicates the minutes left
(there are 4 small lights hear)
3h 6h 9h door closed }this indicates how long the delay start is
above is my attempt of a diagram to give you the idea of how it looks
So I find the countdown display great it shows you how long you have left on your wash so if you have more than 15mins but less than 30mins left the 15' light will show. If you put a wash on to follow by a tumble it will tell you how long is left on the wash and then when that is finished it will go to how long is left on the tumble not the combined time for both.
It also displays how long is left from your delay start you have until the wash starts. To select the delay start option you press the button once for 3h twice for 6h and three times for 9h and then press the start button and just walk away.
Wash and dry options...
This is a button you press that can be used on the cottons and synthetics programs. By using this the wash time can be reduced by 50minutes, depending on the selected program, temperature and load, without affecting the quality of the wash.
This can only be used in the cotton cycles, There are sensors that affect both the selected temperature, keeping it a constant level throughout the wash cycle. The drum is made to turn at two different speeds at the crucial moments
This option treats with care the fibers of garments. The load is washed in a much larger quantity of water this is so that the detergent dissolves better it also increases during the rinse so to get all the detergent out.. great if you have alleges.
This is a knob to select the temperature you require during you wash there is 8 temperature there is a snowflake buy selecting this the wash temperature is equivalent to the water inlet temperature (so you save on energy) the over temperature are 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80 and 90.
Only a maximum of 4kg of laundry can be loaded for the dryer.
You select what program you requirer to run after your wash before you press the start button if you don't want to dry after you just leave the dial on the no dry option.
There are 7 options
Sensor drying programs,
Time drying programs
There are 21 programs on the dial they are:
Cottons 90c- this includes a pre wash program
AA 40c- This allows you to obtain the best washing performance with a full load
Synth's 50c -This includes a prewash cycle
High dry- you use this for just drying at a high temperature
Low dry -you use this for just drying at a low temperature
Sports 30c- this is for mixed sportswear fabric that cannot be washed on hotter programs
A wash 59' 60c- Max load 3 kg cotton fabrics and items colourfast to 60c
Daily wash 44' 40c- Complete wash cycle (wash, rinse, spin) lasts about 44 mins max load 3 kg
Daily 29' 40c- Max load 2kg complete wash lasts about 29 mins
There is a filter that needs cleaning as this is a tumble dryer as well this needs to be done at least once a month is took me a while to find it though. There is a kick-plate at the bottom you need to pull this away from the bottom and up then you need to use a screwdriver holding the filter in and pull that out and clean it.
Over all I think it as a great washer dryer and I have no complaints really apart from it can be very loud on a spin cycle but no more than most washing machines.

You can print using the Epson as a normal printer connected to your computer or with out having your computer on and by just inserting your camera memory card you are able to print good quality photos at home.
The quality of photos you get depend on how good the paper quality you use and the ink you use but I will get to ink later. But over all, the photos you end up with are as good as the ones you get printed professionally and the convenience of your own home.
You can also copy with the touch of a button you have the option to make a black and white copy or a colour one.
The scanner is just a basic scanner does just what you expect it to the speed of scanning is not partially quick when you scan you have the option to do a quick scan then you can select the area of your document you want to do a fall scan of and the quality is good.
You can pick the cartridges up quite cheap from amazon or ebay but be warned epson printers don't like you using other cartridges they have a chip in them and when you put an non epson cartridge in sometimes it wont work they tell you they cant recognize the cartridge. You need to use four cartridges at a time black, yellow, magenta and cyan and you can pick them up for around £10.00 for a pack of 12 if you research well you can find better deals than this the more you get the less it costs.
The black capacity are around 420 A4 pages at 360dpi
And the colour capacity is 290 A4 pages at 360dpi
I was quite surprised how long the cartridges last obviously if your are printing regular high quality photos they don't last that long I would say around under 100 prints.
Over all I think this is a great printer not expensive to run I have had mine for around three years now and I think that is quite along life span for a printer.
To me the foam shampoo is not a great product.
I got mine from asda they had a promotion buy 3 of £10 so I thought I would give it a go I am a fan of Tresemme and I use the products daily. The idea of a dry shampoo is a great one for those days you don't have the time to wash your hair but it looks greasy and feels dirty. With the foam it has a fragrance so your hear will smell fresher but it doesn't leave you with hair that looks just washed every time I use it i still have to die my hair up, but Tresemme say ''For dry, frizz prone hair Removes oil from roots & moisturises lengths'' this is not true I did not find that it moistures your hair or remove oil that statement is a bit silly any way how can one product remove oil and also add moisture??
On my 3 for £10 deal I also got Tresemme instant refresh dry shampoo spray this is a great product I recommend you get this instead its like a hair spray but when you spray it it comes out a lot faster and harder then a hairspray. You spray it in your roots and brush your hair and you do have the just washed look with a light fragrance. The only down side is if you spray to much your hair will have white bits in it (a bit like talcum powder) but this does brush out if you spot it. At the moment asda are doing the deal again so 3 products for £10 or spray is £4.80 on its own, and the foam is £4.40 but for the extra 40p I would get the spray or even for a bigger saving I would get 3 for £10 thats how much I like the spray!
smoldering black eye pencil.
This is a great thing to have in your make up bag I use liquid eyeliner every day and add some BADgal when I am going out of a night time but it is also great for everyday use if you want to add a bit of definition to you eyes.
The pencil is a kohl pencil it is very soft and moves very easily were as with other kohl pencils that can be quite hard and even hurt when you try to put them on. I got mine a good year ago now and still have about half the stick left. Its so easy to create smoldering eyes all you need to do is draw on your eyes and smudge with your finger or you can use a eyeshadow brush.
You do need to be careful though as some times it can go on a bit dark but once you have smudged it in your eyes look great. You can use the pencil underneath your eye I actually put the pencil on my lower lid and close my eye and slide the pencil across this is great if you also use liquid eyeliner but can always get it close to your eyelashes. When you use it on your lower eye it can give you pander eyes if your not careful though I get into a habit of running my finger along the bottom of my eye just in case.
I got mine for £14.00 from a Benefit shop but if you look carefully you can find cheeper ones online although once you have paid for the packaging it might not be that much of a saving.
I got this on special offer not releasing I need a rice cooker my partner wanted to get one I couldn't understand why a rice cooker is needed but now I understand its great put rice in add water and just walk away wait for the little click and its done, if you don't hear the click though it will just wait for you on warm mode, now I haven't tried any other rice cookers to compare with but I like it... no not perfect rice every time, if you don't add enough water you have hard rice to much and you have rice pudding! The rice at the bottom isn't edible but once you get the knack you can get quite nice rice I may now invest in a slightly better model now. If your not sure if you will use or get on with a rice cooker this is a good one to get as asda always seems to have it on special offer. Its quite small so doesn't take much counter space and you get just about 4 potions out of it.
Just to add some extra and answer Nar2's questions...
It is not heavy at all, It is a metal bowl that you cook the rice in I have never washed it in the dish washer as it it is not needed it is non stick and the rice at the bottom that is not really edible sticks together and usually falls into the bin in one clump and then you can just clean with a sponge or a cloth no scrubbing required what it a lot better than if your cooking rice in a pan.
The metal bowl that you cook in can get quite hot so if you use gloves you can take it out and carry it to a table but I would suggest putting it on a plate so not to burn your self or damage the table. You also get a plastic serving spoon so not to damage the non-stick and a measuring pot. The liter capacity is 1 liter and it is a good size for a small family but I would recommend getting a bigger one for any more than four people.
I got mine for £7 and I believe it is usually around £16 but I often see it on special offer when I am in store.
Firstly I would like to say that I do not have massive technology skills so this is a simple review written from someone still learning. I do not use every program within Creative Suite but I have found it is very handy to have them all.

Not all the programs are a must but they are very handy have, there are different suites available with fewer programs and most of the programs are available separately what works out a lot cheaper if you only need the basics.
Learning the programs can be tricky and some are mainly made with professionals in mind but photoshop and illustrator of example can be picked up pretty quickly and there is a lot of help out there on the internet many people post video tutorials that take you step by step on creating affects.
***my review re writen***
Photoshop is a photo and image editing program from Adobe. Photoshop CS5 is the 12th release of Photoshop and it is currently the leading image editing software. It is meant to be almost impossible to learn every tool and trick that photoshop give you I have been learning for about three years now and I still learn new things every time I use it and by researching online I always seem to find a much simpler way of doing something I have been taking hours to do when really it can take five minutes.
I couldn't possibly list all the things you can do with photoshop so I will just tell you bout a few.
When working with photography CS5 just blows me away these are a few of the things you can do are really amazing...
Selecting parts of an image...
Say you have a photo of some flowers but you want to pick out just one using the cleaver quick selection tool you can select how many pixels you want to select in a area and click on your image and move the curser over and the selection tool will find the edges and get magnetically drawn to them and then you can isolate the edges from the rest of the image.
You can remove image detail or an object you do not want with the spot healing tool with the content- aware box clicked paint over the unwanted object and it will just seem to disappear with photoshop taking into account the surroundings of the detail/object and it will just blend it out this works well with small objects and details like stray hairs or unwanted thing in the background but not so well with large objects.
You can remove red eye in seconds with the read eye tool just click on the eye and magically red eye is gone just like that.
You can automatically correct distorted photos if your photo looks warped and the perspective is off with one click automatic correction fixes this.
Restore old photos there are lots of options to do this depending on your needs from changing the hue/saturation and brightness/contrast there is also a option to do these things automatically which work surprisingly well.
You can also drop pounds or get a nose job instantly with with very brilliant liquify filter you choose how big of an area you want to warp and just click and move the area inwards or upwards how ever you wish it is very effective and with practice know one will ever no! (within reason of course)
I could go on and on there really is so much you can photoshop is a brilliant bit of software and you don't need to be a industry professional to use it. The downside is it is very expensive to buy a whopping £953 from adobe! But rest assured if you shop around you can get it for half this maybe even less... If you want to just give it ago you can get a free 30 day trial from the adobe website with no obligation to buy.
I don't know anything about cars so I cant get technical about my Kia Piccanto but I can tell you why I love my car I have had it for 2 years now and I have been driving for 4 years and still its a joy to drive and feels like a brand new car (even though I got it second hand and its 8 years old!) I love the size I still get amazed about the spaces I can fit into but while sitting inside you totally forget how small the car is I never feel cramped unless I must add I have done a big shop with the boot being tiny I can only fit about 5 shopping bags in thats but one thing you have to deal with if you want a small car with space in the back seats but then again on the plus the back seats move so easily to fold flat giving you extra space in minutes. Its such an easy car to use and takes no time to get used to the only thing that caught me out a few time its that the indicator is on the right and I have only driven cars with it on the left but its great being able to change gear and indicate at the same time if you wish. When I got my kia I was delighted to find that my tax and petrol prices where literally halved (did go from a old petrol glugging banger though). It takes about £25-£30 to fill my tank up (used to be £20 grr at inflation) and this can last me 2-3 weeks sometimes and I drive almost every day trips to the shops and to work what is a 10 minute drive I am still shocked how long it can last.
I would like to thank Peter James so much I hadn't read a book for years when my mum gave me one of his books Dead simple the first book in the Roy Grace series back in 2006 and I did not put it down until I had read every single word! Dead like you is the 7th in the series and you could easily read it with out having reading any of the others but I would really recommend reading them all as each book has a different story a but there are other stories to follow through out the series which peter will keep you up to date with and you wouldn't feel like your missing something having not read the other books. The suspense some times are unbearable he will leave you at one part of the story for you to get griped by the next part. Roy Grace is such a great character and I love reading about his life and I can never wait for the next book!
I recently got my second pair of ghds for Christmas my first pair where a few years ago and they broke the reason for this was wrapping the cable around the straighteners whilst they will still hot so would recommend to everyone do not do this. I have been using a cheeper straightener since my first pair broke and in time I forgot how great they are! I used my friends just before christmas and had to have them again. There good if you just want to smooth out your hair a little quickly before popping out but if you have more time section your hair off and use a comb at the same time as your ghds with your other hand comb right in front of your straighteners this flattens stray ends quicker and better and you get a perfect sleek look. And ghd curls are amazing but take a bit of practice but there are plenty of youtube videos to show you how anther tip is when you do one curl turn your ghds in the other direction for the next then they don't clump together.
I used to play bejeweled years ago online I saw the app and thought I would give it a go and it is so much better! There are three different visions you can play classic, action and endless. My favorite is the action where your racing against the clock your level bar goes down the longer you take to find matching gems a lot of pressure but great fun I am always in a completion with my self to get to a higher level. Its so easy to use on your phone I find it better then playing on a computer also if you like playing on facebook you can also connect to facebook through the app to compete against others which adds a bit more fun to the game. A great feature is that you can also save your game and come back to it later (useful if you enjoy the endless vision!)
I have never had a mac before or a laptop so I was a bit skeptical at first but I got mine for uni as I have started a graphic design course and I think it is perfect. I love everything about my mac although I found the trackpad takes a bit of getting used to but I found the videos on how to use the pad and the things you can to with it in the system preferences really useful, and now you can also buy apps for your apple what is really useful I got pages of the app store as I didn't need the whole of iwork and it only cost £12.00 as a posed to £72 for pages, keynote and numbers. Even the charger amazes me just the simple delight how the attachment is magnetic and you choice whether to have a long cable or short one but attaching or detaching an extension. I now love apple technology now I cant ever imaging using anything else although quite pricey well worth the money (although apple do have a discount for students!)
