Killzone 2 bites off more than it can chew, it seems after thoroughly playing the game I have my own views on the game and aim to give you guys a detailed unbiased review. I guess its best to start with the good points, now there is a lot of things good in killzone 2 that give it a good run at the FPS title but is misses it buy a few hurdles. Firstly, Killzone 2 is an amazingly spectacular graphical masterpiece, it is easily the best graphically presented FPS game to date. Everything you look for in a good shooter is here, everything that makes a next gen shooter is here, in fact Killzone 2 really has raised the bar in terms of the graphical finnese it unleashes upon you're tv screens, regardless of whether or not their HD equipped . To list a few of the things you may notice that look astounding in Killzone 2 are: Textures, physics, animations, lighting, facial rendering, shadowing, level design, draw distance and enviromental effects (such as fire & lightning) plus much more that combine with authentic gun, voice, environment sounds and in game music to create the most visceral FPS to date. However, as good as Killzone looks and sounds, Guerilla Games did not do as good a job with the actual gameplay itself. Now Killzone 2 was developed by Dutch company Guerilla Games, who are known for shooters such as Killzone 1 and Shellshock Nam 67 which were both last gen titles. Killzone 2 being their much anticipated debut on a next gen system after four and a half years in development, as an exclusive for sony's meaty Blu-Ray equipped Playstaion 3 has finally arrived on our shores. The single player element to Killzone 2 is reasonable, in both length, quality of story and cutscenes. The story did not really pull me in on Killzone 2, now this could be because I have not played the 1'st Killzone title, however as this is supposed to be a standalone title it should have really been made more accessible to people unfamilliar with the previous installments of the killzone franchise, both on PS2 & PSP, yet I personally felt as though I needed to have played them for the story to have any meaning. Now the story is not too bad, it's a reminisance of the Halo and Gears stories on Xbox, as it sees you playing as part of a squad for the human army trying to fight off the invading race, the Helghaust. This therefore forsees you and you're squad pushing the attack to their home planet Helghan in order to wipe out the Helghaust once and for all. The cutscenes are as polished as the rest of the game graphically and tell the story well, the characters are okay but nothing majorly attatching, level objectives are fairly straight forward without being too repetitive and level design is unique and engaging. However, I did feel throughout the campaign I was just running through each and every level, purely to find more and more Helghaust to obliterate with my devestating weaponry. However this is where the game flips a U-turn, whilst Killzone 2's weapons look and sound fantastic whilst dealing out great damage to Helghaust forces, the selection of weaponry available to you is extremely limited. This is not a good feature for the game as I felt as though half way through the game I had only had access to the default assault rifle. Now whilst there are eventually other weapons introduced into the game in later levels, such as the flamethrower and electro shock gun, the ammo for these weapons is on such a tight availability that you cannot use these weapons for long, before switching back to trusty rifle with green dot scope, that you have had since the start of the game. This creates a sense off repetitivity and does drain on the overall excitement throughout, but is not game breaking, instead more of an improvement tip for a sequel. Moving on from single player, which is unfortunately the end of the good gameplay in Killzone 2, we arrive at the multiplayer sections. Now there are two multiplayer options for you in Killzone 2, there's skirmish mode: where you have the option to play any of the eight multiplayer maps against computer controlled bots, with changable A.I to either increase or decrease the challenge. However, this is more of a tutorial mode, granting a chance to learn the maps before going online, as you cannot invite friends to compete against the bots, it's purely meant as a training zone which limits the mode, making it repetitive and lonesome, so you will probably only use it once, unfortunately. This is merely the beginning of multiplayer failure, as the warzone game mode does not fare any better. This is where you can face people online in you're region or players worldwide, it's you're choice but it's irrelevent, as which ever one you choose results with you getting hideous lag, which I recieved whilst playing both wired and wirelessly. Now anyone could comment and say its due to my connection, which is fair to say, however, my connection is more than adequete and can run all my others games without any lag at all (other than the inevitable). It gets worse as because every game is laggy (not for you but every other player) it makes the matches unplayable and therefore not enjoyable to play. This combined with the fact that you need to pass more than half the online ranks to receive any badges (extra abilities like a cloak). In my case all I wanted to be able to do was snipe people online, but due to the pathetically created online services which makes the online pointless, I would have had to reach the final rank before my sniping dreams were possible, and then it wouldn't have been enjoyable due to the lag, which as you can imagine becomes a horrible , un-enjoyable cycle. To summarise Killzone 2 is really quite easy. This game could have achieved great things, great things it was designed to achieve, but fell short of ever reaching, due to the lack of effort and support on the hugely anticipated, competitive online modes. However if you're unfortunate enough to not have online access then Killzone 2 as purely a single player experience is a worthy purchase. Killzone 2 is a graphically astounding game unmatched by any other visually, its just a shame it lacks the online support required after completion of the single player to give it a chance against opposing FPS titles in the current gen. The bar is set high for FPS games these days, with many 3rd party & exclusive titles available, there are certain requirements for a FPS game to be successful, and Killzone 2 unfortunately falls short of meeting them. Therefore for £32.99 from shopto.net, I give Killzone 2: 7/10 or 3/5. Thanks for reading.
I am when it comes down to it a bit of a make-up freak, so to speak. If I see something new I like from Clinique or my other favourite Estee Lauder then I have to have it, funds allowing of course. They say a workman should never blame his tools but when it comes to make-up it pays to invest in quality or it can all go horribly wrong and unfortunately cheaper doesn't mean better with make-up and your skin won't thank you for it either. One such thing it definately pays to invest in is make-up brushes. In general when you buy a face powder it comes complete with a face puff. Very quickly it looks like it's seen better days and with continued use becomes a breeding ground for bacteria. There are now brushes for all make-up uses; foundation brush, powder brush, blusher brush, bronzer brush, eye shadow brush etc. With the credit crunch now affecting so many of us it pays to invest wisely and you can not go wrong with Cliniques brushes. Although fairly costly they are very attractive and chunky which makes them easy to hold and use and still fit in my make-up bag. The powder brush in particular has a very big powder brush and is particularly suitable for pressed powder and loose powder. It is sturdily made and the brush hairs are superior in quality with anti-bacteria technology and will last for a very long time. I have now had my powder brush from Clinique for some time, probably about three years at least and with regular cleaning it still looks and feels like new. I clean it every month or so with some warm soapy water and allow to air dry. I can tell when it needs cleaning as the brush hairs no longer feel as soft. Cheaper brushes have left me with a rash and loss of actual brush hairs. They would fall out in succession every time I used it and in the end the brush would look very sorry for itself. Over time I realised it was pointless to keep on buying different cheap brushes when the same issues would just reoccur and so I finally took the plunge and invested in some good brushes and they are still going strong today. Overall a good set of brushes will last you a life time and give you a much better proffessional finish. Where to buy, well at all good department stores and on-line at Clinique.co.uk where all purchases come with a choice of two free samples. Price wise, as I said before they are costly but once you have invested in them you will never have to buy another, so a very worthwhile purchase in deed. £19.57 Powder brush - Clinique.co.uk Clinique also sell make-up brush cleanser which costs £10.77 for 200ml Thanks for reading.
I received my Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion from Clinique as one of two free samples by way of saying thank you for buying something from Clinique. It is also a very clever marketing tool enabling you to try out some of their products for free with the obvious hope you will like the product enough to purchase a full sized product in the future. As a young girl I never bothered with moisturizer, I found with my combination skin it was already oily enough even after washing so I just never bothered. As I started to age, which unfortunately happens to us all, I found my skin started to change. I can now wash my face and within minutes it feels all dry and most definately requires a good moisturiser which I can trust and also use confidently as a make-up base. The sample of the moisturiser I received was small but strangely enough lasted far longer than I expected, some four weeks! Thus enabling me a real good chance at sampling the product. It did not come with a pump dispenser however the rest of the packaging is the same, glass bottle with the brand name clearly marked upon the front of the bottle and product type. As with all moisturisers you expect it to moisturise your skin, well this did but, with bells on. A little really does go a long way so apply a little at a time. It has a very nice fragrance which can only be described as delicate and feminine and has the texture of a good yoghurt. It is a pale yellow in colour and is therefore clear to where you are placing the product ie not in your hair! It is very easily absorbed into the skin and instantly your skin feels softer, healthier looking and more plumped up in appearance and appears more hydrated. It works very well as a make-up base as long as you don't over apply the moisturiser otherwise your foundation will not sit properly and your make-up will appear too dewy. The effects of the moisturiser are long lasting and your skin will feel hydrated for the days entirity or until you wash your face. The contents of the product are delicate enough for you to use on your whole face including your eye area. Clinique suggests using the product twice a day on your face and neck for optimal results. Overall I have been very impressed. My skin loves it and it is suitable for all skin types including very dry, dry, combination and oily. As with all good products you get what you pay for and this is the bit that hurts, the price. It is expensive and yes there are much cheaper alternative products on the market but do they work as well? no. You can purchase the Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion in two types, one with a pump top and one with a screw top lid. My sample came with the screw top lid and I have recently purchased the biggest pot with the pump top. The pump works very effectively with very little effort and has not clogged once. The price for the moisturizer with the pump top is slightly more and comes down to personal choice. As always you can purchase all Clinique products from good department stores or on-line at Clinique.co.uk where you can also receive two free samples with your purchase, however much you spend. 125ml - £26.43 Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion with pump dispenser. 100ml - £21.14 Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion with pump dispenser. 50ml - £14.68 Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion with screw top. 125ml - £25.45 Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion with screw top. If you are looking for a good moisturizer that will fit easily into your skin care regime then look no further than Cliniques Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion. I have absolutely no hesitaion in recommending it to everybody, even you men! Thanks for reading.
Miele.co.uk is a great starting point to become acquainted with the big brand name that is Miele. I only have one appliance from Miele and that is a washing machine that I purchased some 16 months ago. Before buying my new washing machine I had several visits from service engineers in order to repair my previous appliance and the advice always seemed to be the same. If you want a really good machine that will last a long time buy a Miele. Miele are a german company and a family owned and run business that have been operating for over a hundred years and their reputation for first class products exceeds them. The machine has unfortunately had to be replaced due to a faulty drum which was replaced in a little over a week of the fault being diagnosed by a Miele engineer but then further problems arose which were also addressed extremely quickly and after a third fault arose Miele decided to replace the whole machine and did so in a matter of a week. The initial fault with the machine was clothes were apparently becoming trapped in the drum seal and causing holes in some of the washing. Miele have subsequently requested an itemised listing of all damaged clothes with the intention of a reinbursement for the damaged items. My initial impression of Miele has not changed in fact my overall impression has infact become one of greater respect for a company whose integrity towards it's customers is paramount. Miele.co.uk is a great website for information not only of their current listing of products but also where to buy them and also has a vast amount of information on their company and their pledge to their customers to provide great products with the peace of mind of superb engineering behind them. The idea that a Miele product will go faulty within ten years of buying your product is apparently rare, each Miele product comes with a free two year guarantee and some products actually come with longer, our washing machine actually came with a five year guarantee but due to the craftmanship of the materials the products are all expected to last atleast ten years plus and that is what you are paying for and the excellent customer service. If you buy a product from a company and they always endeavour to rectify any query or complaint then I will buy from them again which is why I am very happy to reccommend Miele to every body. Their engineers are all very proffessional and polite as are their customer service staff. Miele.co.uk also sells product accessories on this site including water softener, dishwasher salt, dishwasher detergent and rinse aid etc. Standard delivery is free but you can also have next day delivery at a premium. Delivery is fast and usually items arrive within a few days. A superb site with a wealth of modern day products to browse, accessories to buy and even product manuals should you lose yours as well as the all important telephone numbers to speak to the experts themselves.
I received this product as part of a collection of cosmetics from Estee Lauder for christmas from my husband. As lip gloss is a favourite item of mine I have to say I was honestly slightly disappointed to see this product due to the absence of an applicator wand. Based on my daughters experience with similarly designed products I expected the nozzle applicator to be awkward and not at all user friendly. I am much more at home with the usual wand applicator and so wondered as to whether I would infact get on with this product at all. With the weather this time of year less than inspiring I decided after christmas to have a tester session for myself and my girls, who were only too happy to oblige and we spent the best part of an afternoon experimenting with all of the new cosmetics I had received for christmas. Luckily for me my girls were only too happy to try out the new High Gloss Ultra Brilliance lip gloss. With all three girls now looking back at me with ultra shiny lips and all delighted with the unexpected added bonus of the fruity aroma and taste it would seemingly appear to get the thumbs up. Right I thought my turn. The product; I had two High Gloss Ultra Brilliance lip glosses to choose from Berry (a pinky, plum colour) and Rose (a pink, copper and gold sort of colour) I opted for the Berry colourway. On the first instance I noticed the fruity aroma and the lightness of the product itself. Unlike my favourite lip gloss from Estee Lauder this lip gloss is not as thick in consistency but is still incredibly rich and vibrant in colour. All of the colourways are not just one colour but seemingly several together to create a unique colour. The texture of this lip gloss is different too. Not at all creamy but more tacky. The applicator itself is all plastic and not a seperate unit. The whole product is one entity except for the lid. Rather unusually it works. The angled applicator nozzle has a small exit hole which on a gentle squeeze provides enough product for a single aplication. The angled nozzle actually makes for precision application and is not at all awkward as expected. This lip gloss also has added benefits of added conditioners to create smoother, plumper lips and whats even better is that a little really does go a long way. What a triumph, and further more pairs up perfectly with Estee Lauders Pure Colour Lipsticks. The packaging; The packaging is considerably lighter than you would imagine. Unlike Estee Lauders other lip glosses which are encased in a glass case the packaging on this particular product is a see through plastic and is fully recyclable. The Estee Lauder branding is depicted on the front of the tube with the initials E and L entwined in gold. The lid is completely gold with a semi mirror finish. The products name High Gloss Ultra Brilliance can be found at the bottom of the product again in gold. On the reverse of the product it states the colourway you have chosen. On removal of the twist off lid you will see the applicator which I stated earlier is angled with an exit hole. Price wise; This product is no different to any of Estee Lauders other products when it comes to price. Currently available for £12.72 for 15ml from Estee Lauder direct and available in just nine colourways including clear. Overall; I have been pleasantly suprised at just how simple it was to use the new style applicator and apply the product. The applicator enables you to achieve good results without the need for a seperate wand. Colour wise there are not as many different colourways with this product as there are with their other lip glosses, however, it is a different product entirely and does have the added lip benefits of conditioners and additional fruity fragrance and taste which is quite morish. I'm not sure if I m entirely convinced to give up my applicator wand just yet but think this is a great product and certainly one that the younger girls would appreciate. As stated in another review of mine to help with the longevity of the product I would advise on buying Lip Cote which is a clear product with applicator brush for you to coat your lipstick or lip loss with and extend the longevity of your product. The only downside to this is the rancid taste of this product but, as it helps your lip gloss to remain in tact which means fewer repeat applications I think it's worth buying. Thanks for reading.
For my regular readers of my reviews it will come as no suprise that I buy alot of cosmetics from Estee Lauder and in my opinion think they are quite simply the best cosmetics on the market. It goes without saying that they are a little costly and that there are numerous brands on the market that offer cheaper cosmetics but in my opinion they do not always perform as expected and certain ingredients in some of the cheaper cosmetics can actually do more harm than good in relation to your skin. My first experience with Estee Lauder cosmetics was some six or seven years ago. I received a make-up gift set one christmas from my husband and now every year I receive something from the Estee Lauder range. Some eight months later I was due to fly out to visit my family in Spain and whilst waiting for my flight I went into the duty free area with my daughter April who wanted a new pair of sunglasses and I was suprised to see a whole array of cosmetics for sale from Estee Lauder. On further inspection I noticed some lip glosses which I was only too happy to test out and ended up buying two there and then. This turned out to be a new tradition of mine and I always buy atleast one of their lip glosses when I am at the airport. The product; Smooth and incredibly hydrating it is pure luxury for your lips. Quite thick in consistency it's simple to apply. The only downfall to this product is choosing which colour to buy. Cheaper lip glosses fail to impress as their consistency is poor and often too runny which makes it necessary for repeat applications virtually every half hour. Colour ways are usually not as impressive or dramatic something I fully appreciate with the Estee Lauder Pure Colour Gloss. Whilst the product does not promise to reduce feather lines a round the mouth or plump the lips it is very creamy in texture and does not bleed everywhere if applied correctly. However, saying that it is not transfer resistant and I would advise buying some Lipcote. Lipcote is a clear lip product you can apply over lipstick or lip glosses to prevent transference, although it tastes vile it works amazingly well and expands the longevity of your product helping you to get your monies worth. The packaging; The packaging as always impresses me and any one else who should see it in your handbag. Presented in a rectangle see through glass casing the product can always be seen, as can the colour of the product. The front of the product is indicated by the initials E and L which are entwined in gold, this is then set off by their tell tale gold band a round the rim of the product. The lid is also in gold with a semi mirror finish. To use the product simply twist the lid and use the provided applicator wand. The applicator wand is made from a plyable plastic and finished off with an angled sponge applicator which makes applications much more precise. Colourways; There are currently thirteen colourways available on the Estee Lauder website, although I know some big department stores sell more, each rich in colour and offering the wearer something quite luxurious. Colours include Clear, Quartz, Tea Rose and Burgandy to name but a few. Price wise; It currently retails for £13.70 for 6ml from Estee Lauder direct, www.esteelauder.co.uk which will include two free samples for you to try, can't be bad heh? Overall, this is my favourite lip gloss product. It tastes really inoffensive and I can't help puckering up and pressing my lips together when I wear the product as it is so creamy! If there is one product you should ever try from Estee Lauder then let it be this one. Thanks for reading.
Celtic legend has it, centuries ago, a waterhorse transformed itself into a beautiful horse, came onto dry land and tormented weary travelers before returning to the Loch. With the traveller in tow the Water Horse would drag it's pray down to the merky depths of the Loch and devour it's victim. Loch Ness has long been a place of magic and mystery bringing thousands of visitors to it's shore every year. The more modern romantic notion of the Loch Ness monster has been retold many a time since the release of the red herring photo back in 1933. The Water Horse Legend of the Deep is a visually acclaimed film and heartwarming tale set in 1930's Scotland during the second World War. A boy's belief in his father returning home following the conflict is transformed from a lonely disillusioned young boy into a brave young man when he develops a beautiful endearing friendship between himself and the legendary Water Horse. This enchanting tale centres a round Angus (Alex Etel) and his new found friendship with the Water Horse whom he names Crusoe. He desperately tries to keep Crusoe a secret which becomes increasingly difficult in the stately home he resides in with his older sister and mother who is employed as housekeeper. After discovering the mysterious egg on the Loch shore Angus takes it home where he later in the security of his fathers' workshop plies open his mysterious finding and comes face to face with the creature. Angus finds unlikely allies throughout the film in his attempt to keep the Water Horse safe from harm and rekindles his relationship with his widowed mother which had become estranged following the loss of his father. A beautifully written script acted out in some of the worlds most beautiful scenery The Water Horse Legend of the Deep will not fail to become a pure classic for all the family. Bought as a christmas present for my eight year old twin girls it has quickly become one of their favourite films. The Water Horse is stunningly endearing and will leave you glued right to the end. Actors include Emily Watson, Alex etel, Ben Chaplin, David Morrissey and Brian Cox. The visual effects were created by the same team which brought us King Kong and The Lord of the Rings. The disc includes special features which depicts; *The making of the Water Horse *Creating Crusoe *Myths and legends *Setting the scene *The story *The characters *Deleted scenes Running time for this feature is 1 hour 47mins Rated as PG Released 2007
Sensuous is the new modern fragrance brought to you by Estee Lauder. Renowned world wide for their excellence in cosmetics they also produce some exquisite fragrances. Sensuous is among a catalogue of at least thirty different fragrances. I currently own a few of their other fragrances but Sensuous is the first fragrance I have requested following receipt of a sample tester after purchasing some of their cosmetics last year. Two samples are usually provided with any purchase and it's usually from the samples I establish an opinion on their new products. I was very suprised after smelling the tester at just how sexy and feminine the fragrance was. I used the tester on a daily basis just to see how it fared and it did not disappoint. I had used the tester in it's entirity within a week and I felt bitterly disappointed I didn't actually own the fragrance to continue wearing it on a daily basis. I have few perfumes that I can actually call my favourites. Deciding on a fragrance is a very personal thing and I have over the years only bought three perfumes on a recurring basis. These perfumes are Eternity by Calvin Klein, Tresor by Lancome and Gucci Red by Gucci. Each of these perfumes to me have something in common and that is that they are all very sweet smelling feminine fragrances. The fragrance; Sensuous is also a very feminine fragrance and to me has the air of citrus to it. Estee Lauder claim it has the rich core of Molten Woods surrounded by mysterious florals, Magnolia, Jasmine and Ghost Lily, with Pepper, Mandarin Orange Pulp and Honey. I am no perfume expert but I know what I like and this is a keeper. It is not a strong perfume and of of course it's fragrance does smell slightly different on each wearer. It smells very sweet and floral with a hint of woodiness on it's initial spray and after a short while the scent changes and the citrus notes become more apparent. It is the citrus notes for me which make the fragrance. It does not upset the wearer by being too heavy a fragrance and as it is more of a lighter delicate fragrance it is probably more suited for day time use. It doesn't have the best staying power and I have reapplied the perfume in the afternoon which is the only disappointment with this fragrance for me. The packaging; I received my new fragrance with my new cosmetics for christmas from my husband so it came beautifully gift boxed. The gift box was all gold with the brand name Estee Lauder lightly embossed on the lid, on further investigation inside the perfume box lay on a bed of white crisp tissue paper and the perfume box itself was in a copper colour way with almost a mirror finish. The branding appeared in the centre of the box on a white back ground inlayed on a purple rectangle and looked very classy and almost antique in style. The bottle itself is quite simple in design, made from clear glass so you can see how much perfume you have left at all times. The front of the bottle feels completely smooth yet the back has embossed grooves which can be viewed through the front of the bottle. The lid is in the same colour way as the box, copper. It is also hexagonal shaped and carries the initials E and L embossed on the top of the lid. The brand name Estee Lauder can be seen in full on the front of the bottle along with the perfume name Sensuous. Price wise; Sensuous eau de parfum spray is currently available in three sizes; 30ml eau de parfum spray - £29.36 50ml eau de parfum spray - £41.11 100ml eau de parfum spray - £63.62 10ml Sensuous touch on fragrance - £10.09 7ml Sensuous parfum - £60.00 Also available in the Sensuous range is a fragranced sensuous brush on pressed powder compact 12.7g - £58.72 You can also purchase the Sensuous satin body lotion 200ml for £28.87 and the Sensuous silk shower creme 200ml for £19.09 All of the above can be purchased from esteelauder.co.uk or all good department stores. I would definately reccommend this perfume to all woman and any men looking for female gift ideas, birthday presents, anniversaries and those just because you care pressies, I like those, not that I get many but I was certainly delighted with this present. Thanks for reading.
I have said it before and I will say it again, I love Estee Lauder and their luxury cosmetics. After receiving my array of Estee Lauder cosmetics for christmas from my husband I have been enjoying perusing them at leisure and trying them all out. Some of the items included in my christmas gift box have been new to me and so I have had the pleasure of experimenting with them and trying them out. One of these such products is the Estee Lauder Magnascopic Maximum Volume Mascara. I have tried many brands of mascaras over the years, too many to mention. But, one thing I am sure of is that it must be black. I am aware that there are many other colours now available on the market but I definately prefer black. As I have got a little older my needs have changed, cosmetic wise and I expect more from the cosmetics that I buy. There are more and more products on the market now so how do you know which is the best for you? By simple trial and error. What works for one doesn't necessarily work for another but I have found over the years that the cheaper brands of cosmetics are not very good for your skin and often enough don't perform as expected. Estee Lauder currently sell a round eight different types of mascara. Each mascara has been designed to do a specific job. Lengthen, curl, volumise, define, and also be smudge free, you name it they make it. This particular mascara is designed to expand your lashes by up to 300%, creating the illusion of thicker lashes whilst being safe for people who wear contact lenses and is also fragrance free. The technology behind this is their new expandex formula which creates the fuller look. The packaging; Presented in their traditional dark blue colour way with the tell tale gold band it is shaped like a chunky fountain pen. This actually in my opinion makes it slightly awkward to hold but easier to find in the make-up bag. The applicator wand is very sturdy and the actual bristles are very closely knitted together which helps to apply the product with more density. The mascara is quite thick in consistency and on application lashes do appear darker (assuming you are using the black), fuller and longer. The colour is very dark and intense and is the first black mascara I have used to be this rich in colour. The product is quite thick as I said before and therefore a lash primer maybe of benefit before use of this mascara to help prevent clumps on application. This product is not waterproof but is simple enough to remove with either eye make-up remover or warm water and a facial wash. I have not had any eye irritation which can occur with some mascaras leaving you itching ferosiously at your eyes and a mad dash to the bathroom to remove it. Price; As with all Estee Lauder products they come at a price and this mascara is no exception, you can purchase direct from Estee Lauder themselves for £17.13 for 9ml. It is currently available in two colour ways, black and brown. Overall thoughts; I like this product but in truth am undecided as to whether I prefer it over another of their mascaras, the projectionist high definition volume mascara. It is slighter thinner in consistency which enables me to apply the product easier but it is not as rich in colour or appears as dense. It is the same coincidentally in price too. The lash primer I spoke of earlier is available for £14.68 and helps to condition your lashes and strengthen them and elongate them. I think this is a fairly good product but I am unlikely to buy this myself mainly due to the cost. I also disliked that it was quite so thick in consistency. But, on the plus side I liked that the colour was so very rich and intense and lashes appeared fuller and longer and that it removed so easily. The applicator wand applied the product smoothly but due to the fact the product was so thick it ment clumps could occur easily. Not the best mascara I have ever used but not the worst either. Thanks for reading.
Estee Lauder sell the best cosmetics - in my opinion. I received a variety of their cosmetics for christmas as a present from my husband. Each year at christmas Estee Lauder sell a variety of their cosmetics in a desirable cosmetic case all for a very reasonable price and at a fraction of their individual retail price. Last christmas was no different. I received a beautifull mock croc cream zip up cosmetic case which inside contained a smaller mock croc cosmetic case which contained make-up brushes, mascara, eyeshadows, blushers, lipsticks, lip glosses, eye make-up remover and bronzer. I hope I haven't missed anything out because even though I was expecting this present from my husband I hadn't seen it arrive and was still completely amazed at just how lovely the packaging was and at how beautifully presented all of their cosmetics are. The Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess soft matt bronzer is something new to me and one which I was eager to try. I haven't been very successful before when it comes to bronzers or blushers to be quite truthful and have often ended up looking like aunt Sally from that old TV show Worzel Gummidge! Feeling brave after christmas and very eager to try out all my new cosmetics I decided to try out my new make-up and finish of with a light sweep of bronzer. The packaging as aways does not disappoint. It is however different from the picture above, this maybe due to the fact my cosmetics were from a special christmas collection. On the Estee Lauder website the packaging is the same as the above picture. The bronzer I received is indeed in a compact with enclosed mirror and individual bronzing brush which appears thick and soft and carries the Estee Lauder branding on the side. The compact itself is in a beautiful burgandy red opposed to the golden copper coloured compact above. None the less the product inside is the same. I applied the bronzer firstly very lightly accross the cheek bones, forehead, bridge of the nose and chin after dusting any excess off of the brush. The results were quite suprising. I did not look like aunt Sally at all, hooray. I did indeed have a light healthy glow, which appeared very natural and professional looking without any hint of a shimmer which to be honest puts me off sometimes with these types of products if they appear too shimmery. This product is very soft and matt. It resembles a very light colored tan colour and therefore would suit all skin types. I was especially pleased considering how pasty I usually look for december and have to rely on my good old fake tan to get any hint of colour at this time of year. Not wanting to blow my own trumpet too hastily I summoned my daughter April into the bathroom to test out the bronzer on her. She was only too happy to oblige, teenage girls and make-up and all and was equally impressed with the overall look that the bronzer was able to achieve. The product itself is very light and you are unable to actually feel like you are wearing anyproduct at all. It does not cake the skin in any way and you can apply repeat applications to achieve a more bronzed appearance. The compact mirror of course is essential for those who like to do touch ups on the go. The bronzing powder itself is oil free which again I think is brilliant as I have combination skin which is just dying to break out with all kinds of nastiness if I should apply the wrong type of product to my skin. In the summer I can see this product being invaluable to people who prefer to wear little make-up but still like to look feminine and achieve a more polished look. It comes in one shade only which means there is no choice, which is very helpful for people like me who so often get it wrong when faced with making a decision about this type of product and faced with more than one colour way option. Price wise, it is a whopper at £23.00 from Estee Lauder themselves. Would I recommend it? Yes, because it works and is practically fool proof. It is also oil free which in my eyes is better for your skin and the whole reason you wear make-up is to look nice and feel better about yourself and you can with this product. Thanks for reading.
Estee Lauder in my opinion sell some of the most luxurious cosmetics available on the market today. I have tried and tested many a lipstick of theirs over the years and have still to choose a favourite shade. It's not that I am fussy or indecisive it's just that they keep on introducing so many wonderful shades I just have to try them all. I have probably tried about ten shades in all over the years, which, is not all of them, as they currently have 24 in this range. The packaging may have changed a few times (it was originally blue when I purchased my first ever lipstick from Estee Lauder) and even the picture above is ever so slightly different from my current lipsticks from this range. Currently the Pure Color long lasting lipsticks are encased completely in gold coloured metal offering the consumer something of a more visually opulent purchase, but, for a fair price. The lipstick casing is completely tubular and has a high sheen to it but not a mirror finish. The Estee Lauder branding can be found in embossed on the pull off lid of the lipstick and on the bottom a long with the Pure Color number and colour. As I said before there are 24 colours in this collection, so ideally there should be something for every one. Colours range from Pink Parfait a hot pink to Classic Red. My current favourites are Bois De Rose, Rose Tea and Sugar Honey. The lipsticks themselves all have a high sheen, are really smooth and creamy in texture and glide on easily avoiding too many costly mistakes. They feel really moisturising and do not drag the lip at all during application. The lipstick colours are incredibly rich and deep and luxurious. They each have a slight after taste but nothing offensive. They do not last all day and repeat applications will be necessary which may go a little against the long lasting color statement from Estee Lauder themselves, although they do not actually say how long they should last and I have not been disappointed with the actual amount of time that they do. The lipsticks will remain for a fair while, four hours at best without eating or anything else that may allow the product to transfer, as they are not transfer resistant. Estee Lauder's High Gloss Ultra Brilliance lip glosses match up and complement these lipsticks perfectly allowing you to achieve more looks and represent great value for money. I think these lipsticks represent great value for money at £14.68 and offer a wide variety of choice and expertise all from the world renowned brand that is Estee Lauder. These lipsticks are also award winning too, winning best lipstick 2007 from the Woman and Home readers awards. You can purchase these lipsticks in all good department stores, such as Debenhams, or on line at esteelauder.co.uk where all purchases receive two complementary samples for you to choose from. Delivery is minimal, but, is free if purchases calculate to over £75.00 The service I have received from Estee Lauder themselves is second to none and I have no hesitation in recommending these Pure Color lipstcks. Go on, treat yourself. Thanks for reading.
Christmas was very magical this year in our house hold, plenty of christmas cheer and smiles all round which was mainly induced by the wonderful gifts all greatfully received. As requested by moi I received a wonderful array of Estee Lauder products from my husband, all beautifully presented and now all tried and tested. The first of many products I wish to review from Estee Lauder is their Perfectly Clean Splash Away Foaming Cleanser. To be honest, I have not had much experience with their cleansing products as they are so costly, but, I have had more to do with their cosmetics and fragrances and have always been pleased with my purchases. This product was to be a first for me and I eagerly anticipated it's first usage. The product is packaged in a pale blue tube with the Estee Lauder branding on the front and the product description. The product stands on it's lid, which is a flip top, making it simple to use and apply the product. The product is white and relatively thick in consistency which to my mind resembles a good quality hand cream but it also has a lightness to it which enables the product to foam up quite easily. It is very delicately scented and extremely feminine which makes it an absolute delight to use. The product is fragranced with White Water Lily, Barberry and Senega. I can honestly say I have never smelt a face cleanser quite like it and I have been pleasantly suprised. The product is designed to cleanse your skin without leaving any residue, hydrate your skin, moisturize any dry patches and control any oily areas as well. To use the product you should first agitate a small amount in your hands with warm water before applying to your face. After cleansing your face remove all traces of cleanser with warm water. The results; well it works, but not with bells on. I have to say this is the first time I have been disappointed with an Estee Lauder product. I like the packaging, I like the way the product smells absolutely divine and that it is also has quite a tactile feel to the product. It foams up really easily allowing for ease of use and also that as very little product is required to cleanse your face it could prove reasonably economical. I found that the product did clean quite well and removed all traces of make-up without any scrubbing. It did feel like it was actively moisturising my skin whilst cleansing it at the same time. This all changed however after rinsing the product off. My skin felt clean but at the same time it felt stripped of all natural oils, slightly tight and almost reminiscent of a cheap soap that would leave your face all squeaky clean and tight, literally. I found I had to moisturise my skin immediately just for comfort, rather than as part of my normal routine. This product did not perform as expected and I feel hard pushed to recommend it. It is quite costly at £16.64 for 125ml and is not a stand alone product. Estee Lauder recommend this product is used twice daily and then followed by their Perfectly Clean Balancing Lotion and then to moisturise. I can achieve the results to which I am accustomed by way of another product for far less money and without the need to use other products. In this instance I would suggest giving this product a miss and spend your money on their cosmetics which actually do what you expect - tenfold. Thanks for reading.
My list is not so much a Christmas list but more of an anytime you want list. If you read on it will all become clear. If Santa is listening or anyone else that can make my dreams come true then please, please, please atleast grant my number one wish so I can live in peace and harmony, well, for atleast some of the time. I do of course want all the normal things at Christmas, like snow and a new bottle of perfume but this wish list would be good all year round. 1 For children to show respect and manners. I would dearly love it if children, well, teenagers mostly, would not turn into some unrecognisable form of our species and do as they are told without rolling their eyes and turning every request into an epic argument. Phew, glad I got that one out there. 2 For children to be children. By that I mean keep their innocence for longer and not be in such a hurry to grow up. 3 For children to appreciate what you do for them. You know the drill, they love what presents you buy for them on Christmas day and by Boxing day afternoon claim that they are bored. Go figure. 4 Websites and companies to perform as expected. I recently purchased, well tried to purchase, a guide to the stars book from a website, following the purchase of a telescope for my daughter for Christmas (it was what she asked for). After three weeks and numerous phone calls and emails I still have not received the book! 5 Supermarket prices to drop. I am really fed up now with the prices I am paying for the weekly shop and feel a little resentful to repeatedly lining the pockets of these supermarket giants. 6 Big car dealerships to respect their customers. Not all turn into Arthur Daley and try to rip you off and actually want to help their customers and believe that a good reputation counts. 7 To eat what ever I want at Christmas. My husband has a high metabolism and can eat whatever he likes without the worry of putting on any weight. I don't have a weight problem but I do have to watch what I eat otherwise I put on weight very easily. Darn those chocolate Roses tins. I would love it if I could eat what I wanted over Christmas ( well all the time really) and not feel guilty at all. 8 Let there be great television over the festive period. I would dearly love it if Sky were to put on some really great movies and for my Sky plus box not to fail me this year (again). 9 For excessively wealthy people to donate some of their cash to charities who are so seriously in danger of closing from lack of funds. 10 For there to be peace to all who wish for it. I recognise that there may of been a slight theme to my first few wishes but after all it's your family who mean the most to you and whom you would do anything for so I would like overall a more harmonious family life. My other wishes may also be seen as more of a rant and appease a few of you but if the last couple of wishes could come true then life would be a great deal better.
For those of you who know me will know I have long and often unruly curly hair. Although I love my curly hair it does take alot of looking after to keep it looking good. If your hair looks good you feel good, if it looks crap, well, it doesn't fare for a good start to the day, does it? I have in the quest for the best hair care products tried and tested many brands over the years but the one thing I have learnt is that you must change your products fairly regularly otherwise your hair becomes lank and dull and very unruly. It's always when you have something special planned that your hair will let you down, it was my grandads eightieth birthday and all of the family would be attending a surprise party that had been arranged for him by one of my aunts. I hadn't seen some of my aunts and uncles in a while and wanted to make a good impression, I urgently needed a new hair makeover product and came accross the Aussie Miracle Hair Insurance Leave-In-Conditioner in my frantic search for a miracle hair product. The Aussie range of hair care products are in my opinion unique and stand by their Aussie philosophy "There's more to life than hair but it's a good place to start". After reading their philosophy on the back of the product I couldn't wait to get it home and give it a go. The packaging; The product is presented in a tall, thin, white plastic bottle which is decorated with a cute line of kangaroos a round the neck of the bottle. It comes with a pump dispenser which is encased with a see through plastic removable lid to prevent any leakages. The product name is clearly labelled on the front a long with the product description which promises "it's a saviour for, weak, distressed hair" and also to protect and detangle and also states that it is suitable for everyday use. Well I don't know about my hair being distressed but I certainly was, the directions on the reverse of the bottle state "to spray evenly through towel dried hair, comb and don't rinse out." Well to be honest I don't like to towel dry my hair, it creates too much frizz, but prefer to wash and wrap my hair in a towel whilst applying my make-up then attend to my hair. My hair after doing this was not completely drenched but still wet enough to require drying and so after brushing my hair and removing as many of the knots as I possibly could I sprayed quite liberally with the Aussie Miracle Hair Insurance and the first thing you notice is the aroma of the product. It's very sweet, fruity and exotic although the product description states it's Jojoba seed oil that helps to detangle and protect the hair so maybe this is what I can smell. The product; The product is clear, and comes out in a fine spray and instantly helps to detangle your hair and remove knots. Your hair becomes lighter and more hydrated by way of the vitamins and Australian Tea Tree oil and Peanut Oil and with continued use is healthier and stronger with less breakages and split ends. It makes the whole styling process less stressful and promotes a much nicer feel to your hair in general and of course the results speak for themselves. I have since the first use (which was great by the way) continued to use this product for great results. I have even found on occassions when I use a normal wash in and wash out conditioner that if I still apply a few pumps of this that my hair will be even softer and the curls will be more defined giving me a great start to my day. Price wise; A 250 ml bottle will cost you about £3.49, but, it will last for a long time. On average a bottle will last a good three to four months if used just by one person with long hair four out of seven days of a week. I think it represents good value for money when you look at how the product actually benefits your hair. As for the rest of the Aussie range of products I have tried a few and of course the results are slightly better if you pair up this conditioner with some of their other products. If you need a hair miracle then you can't go wrong with Aussie. Thanks for reading.
Once upon a time I was an Avon representative, I liked their products and following reading an add in the local paper for representatives I applied. It helped me to make friends as we had just moved and also helped me to feel independant and provide for our extending family as I had just given birth to twins. As a representative I was often called upon for advice and my opinion on make-up and skin care products. Avon have their own hair care range but strangely enough this was something I was never asked about. Avon Advance Techniques Dry End Serum is one of a range of hair treatment products designed to stomp out split ends and nourish the hair whilst promoting healthy looking shiny hair. The product also contains sun screen so you can be confident whilst wearing the product it really is looking after your hair. The serum complements their other Advance Techniques products, which include shampoo, conditioner, styling products and other more intense hair treatments. The packaging; It comes in a small clear glass bottle which allows you to see how much product you have with pump dispenser, currently an attractive lime green colour, with the brand name and product definition to the front. The pump dispenser itself is simple enough to use and never seems to clog either which can often occur with pump dispensers. It disperses very easily and requires little effort. The product; The product is clear and lightly fragranced which I found inaffensive and is of a thickish consistency as you would imagine. It works on wet and dry hair and my own personal experience has proved it works better on wet hair. I find a few generous pumps after brushing through my wet hair works wonders on taming any possible frizz I might acquire through the drying process. It also adds real shine to your hair promoting a more polished look. If you apply too much product it can over volumise your hair which in my case is a disaster as I already have thick curly hair. I don't use this product on a daily basis, I tend to use it as and when I feel my hair really needs it. If for example I have used too much shampoo on my hair, as that can promote excessive frizz and make my hair extremely uncontrollable. On dry hair I find I need to use less product, but once again if I accidentally use too much product it can make your hair feel sticky to the touch and promote excessive volume. Clearly this is a product that works but requires a certain amount of practice to acquire the best results. Overall I think this is a good product, but, on the downside it requires a little practice to achieve the best results. It's costly at £4.50 for 30ml and is on par with some of the other branded hair care treatments. It's best to buy when on offer and is currrently available to buy for £4.50 with an additional bottle for just £1.00 Like with all hair care products over time they become less effective and your hair becomes dull and lifeless, a change of products can work wonders and Avon Advance Techniques Dry End Serum is definately a product to try. Thanks for reading.
