These are a big dissappointment, however what did I expect for a pound! They are usually found in the avon book somewhere, and being as they were a pound I thought I may as well add one to my order.
The lipstick came and looked nothin like the shade I picked, so this was annoying even before I had applied it. The packaging is cheap and tacky, with a plastic black container and purple emblem on the base.
When I applied the colour, it didnt feel rich and glossy like the other lipsticks I have. The colour came off straight away and only lasts for minutes, so you have to keep applying throughout the day which is quite annoying. The only thing I would say is that the lipstick does feel like it is slightly moisturising your lips, but the colour wears off all too easily. For a pound you cant really argue at all, but I dont think I will bother with it, next time I come to order from Avon, as although the price is good, the lipstick really is cheap and is embarasiing to get out of your handbag!
These are by far my favourite crisps and I always consider them to be of higher quality than the walkers and other brands. They are part of the same group as jacobs/hula hoops and have made a reinvention in 2007 when they cut more of the fat out of hte crisps making them slightly better for you than they originally were.
I managed to find these on offer a while back of 3 bags for 1pound which was good, adn you can also get them in multipacks in the supermarkets and jumbo bags.
The individual bags you get still ocntain a lot of crips (unlike walkers who only fill half the bag) and their foil packed to contain the freshness.
The best flavour in my opinion is salt and vinegar because they have so much flavour to them and are really salty and delicious. The crisps are thick cut ridge crisps which holds more flavour in the ridges and has more of a crunch than most crisps.
These crisps are ideal with a beer down the pub, or as a snack if hungry between meals and the quality of crisp is very high.
I love trying out new body lotions and body butters there is something really luxiourious and tempting about them. I really like the bodyshop and lush ones, but this one in marks and spencers is so much cheaper at only 5pounds so thought I would try it. The one I opted for was pomegranate which comes in a bright pink tub with a picture of the fruit on the front. It is part of a range so you can also buy foam bath and shower gel.
When you open the tub it smells really fruity and really captures the exotic smell of pomegranate. I applied this after getting out the shower on cleansed skin, and it is amazing. Its so thick and creamy and you almost want to eat it! It glides onto the skin really easily, and absorbs quickly so you dont need to wait for it to dry for too long. Because it is so thick and absorbant, it really replnishes skin and hydrates the skin. After using this every other day for around a week, you could really notice the difference in my skin. It looked dewy and healthy and had a glow to it, because it was so hydrated. I swear by this now, and its amazing for only a fiver!
This mouthwash is quite unique to others on the market and although slightly mkore expensive at around 2.20 per bottle, its usually on some sort of offer in tesco's. There are four flavours, I usually use the icy mint one. The bottle attracts your attention because of the two coloured liquids in the bottle, which seperate and look really pretty!
The mouthwash has to be shaken to activate the two phases, and is meant to get rid of the bacteria and debris around your teeth and gums which can cause bad breath. It also helps to fight decay and keeps gums healthy.
The taste is so much more smooth than other mouthwashes and doesnt have that burning acidic feel wheny ou are swishing it around your mouth. When you gargle the formula and spit it out you actually see all the debris and bacteria in the sink, which is pretty disgusting, but you can see whta the mouthwash has cleaned away which is quite good.
I would definately recommend this mouthwash especialluy if you do have a sensitive mouth and dont like the fater taste of the harsh acidic mouthwashes on the market. This one is good because it is ph blanced anc contains no alcohol like others, definately one to try and you can see the results in the sink!
This toothpaste is quite an old brand and usually more expensive than macleans, or colgate and the company have been around for around 150 years. However the price of this toothpaste has come down, and in tesco it is only 0.97 for a small tube, which is really good. There are a few varieties but I use the extra whitening one. I was a bit pessimistic about it, as a lot of these products claim to whiten teeth, yet you rarely notice the effects.
This toothpaste is used like any other, simply apply a pea sized amount onto your toothbrush (prefably electric to get best results) and then brush as normal. You dont notice the whitening straight away, but it does leave your mouth feeling really clean, although not that minty so I usually use a mouthwash afterwards.
After I had used this for about 2 weeks, people did start noticing, and I noticed after about a week myself. My teeth do look much whiter, probably by around 2 shades whiter, and are not sensitive.
I will deifnately continue to use this toothpaste as I am really pleased with the results. Its not as effective as getting them professionally whitened, but for the price and minimum effort you can have whiter teeth within a couple of weeks.
If you feel like indulging and treating yourself, Ben and Jerrys is definately the right choice. The tubs are quite expensive but worth it, as they are quite rick, so usually the tub should last a while. This review is on the cookie dough ice cream, however another favourite of mine is phish food.
Cookie dough is made up of a vanilla icecream base mixed in with toffee icecream, to add a sweetness to it. Then mixed in with all the icecream is chocolate chip chunks, which melt in the mouth and add a texture to the icecream and uncooked cookie dough. The dough is creamy, thick and slightly sticky which is the perfect combination. This icecream really is one of the best on the market, and is perfect for a night in with the girls, or when you want a treat. The packaging is funky, in its small cardboard tub with bright colours and text on it, and on the reverse of it, there is all the different flavours which Ben and Jerry produce, my three favourites being cherry garcia, phish food and cookie dough. Try them all!
I am a big fan of Dior lipsticks as though they are pricey they usually do as they claim, and last a long time. This lipstick costs around 22pounds and is available in a variety of colours from deep, sexy reds, to more caramel tones and browns. I usually opt for quite a dramtic shade, as I am spending a lot on it, so want it to have an impact. The colour I usualyl wear is gipsy rouge, which is a deep red/brown.
The packaging is classic, with its navy casing, and silver band, with dior stitched detailing.
This lipstick claims to last all day and moisturise at the same time, which is usualyl hard to find in a lipstick, as the ones which do last all day can be quite drying on the lips, and look really dull by the end of the day. This lipstick lives up to its claims, and moisturises all day, and feels so soft on the lips. It glides on really easily, and feels like it plumps up the lips and makes you feel sexy. The colour looks dramatic, and vibrant and is really long lasting. Although it has a hefty price tag the lipstick is worth it, as it does last all day.
This software allows you to create professioanl looking artwork, mainly used in the fashion and graphics industry. The package can cost anything upwards of 300 pounds however there are some sites which will do it at cut price for around 100 pounds. Although this sounds a lot, this software is extremely sophistictaed, and clever and once learnt can produce professional, accurate, creative illustrations.
The programme is unlike many others on the market as this is a vector programme, rather than a bitmap programme. Basically this means the image is not made up of small pixels like most artwork software, so however much you zoom in on the image it will not pixelate and will look clear and precise what ever way you look at it.
The main feature of the this package is the industry standard drawing tools, which include a pen to draw accurately and precisely, flexible colour standards which refer to pantones, so perfect for using in the fashion industry when comparing fabric colours to pantone numbers, and a variety of effects and manipulations you can create to your work. You can also manipulate text around any shape you want, and create professional looking logo designs and graphical images.
This package is only for the professionals as it can be hard to master and does need a lot of patience, but once this is mastered the outcomes are amazing. I use this on a daily basis as part of my job as a buyer/designer, you can create accurate print designs, and add them as a swatch to apply to any shape or garment you have drawn, and is perfect to create technical clothing drawings which you can send to factories/suppliers so they understand what you mean. One of the best artwork programmes on the market
This is a fab buy if you are going on holiday or have come back from holiday and want to keep that healthy looking glow. The price tag is rather high on this at 21.00 but the bronzer does last a long time as it is a pressed powder and you dont need to apply much to get that glow to your skin. One of the best things about Nars products is the packaging. All their products come in black rubbery cases, so if you drop them they wont smash. They look really classy and sophisticated which is what you want when you are spending that much money.
The bronzer comes in two colours one called casino and the other called laguna. I used laguna as this is for fairer skin, and has yellow undertones to it, so it perfect if you have olive type skin.
The bronzer goes on really nicely, I simply apply using a loarge soft makeup brush and apply to cheekbones, forehead and chin (only use a small amount as this goes a long way). The colour gives your skin a healthy glow and doesnt look too psarkly and over the top. You do get what you pay for with this, and it is a fantastic product even if it is a little over priced.
I own so many concealers and have struggled for a while to find pne that I like, and also that agrees with my skin. I bought this one a while back and it cost me 3.99 from superdrug which is a good price for a cocnealer, considering that some of them can be anything up to thirty quid! The packaging is simple with its clear tube and pink lid and the applicator is soft and spongey which makes the conealer go further and goes on well. This concealer is an anti fatigue concealer, so really meant for dark circles and shadows on the face than spots and pimples but it does work on these as well. The liquid concealer is quite thick, so gives full coverage. You only need a tiny dab of it, as otherwise it can look a bit caked on. The only thing I dont like about this, is the fact that its shimmery and its just a bit too much too sparkly for me. After a couple of days of using this concealer I noticed I was getting more pimples and it was aggrevating my skin, so I stopped using this. I wouldnt recommend this if you have sensitive skin like me, as it can clog pores making skin worse. The best concealer i have found is the one by witch, which I will write a seperate review on.
I really like Rimmel eye products as they seem to do the job for a fraction of the price, and they always have new products I like to use. Usually I use a kohl eyeliner, as I find them easier to apply and they can be smudged in to create that smokey eye look. However I have noticed more and more people trying these liquid eyeliners, and it gives a more precise sleek look to eyes, which if done properly can make eyes look really dramatic and sexy without looking cloggy or over the top like kohl pencils can.
It comes in a quite a long tube, which holds a wand with a small precise brush on the end, and the eyeliner in the tub at the bottom. You dont need much on the wand, and the trick to doing is to apply as little pressure as possible, and sweep across the top eyelid quite quickly. It took me quite a while to master this, but it doesn matter if you go wrong as you can wipe it away whilst its still damp either with your finger or a damp cotton bud works well. When you have mastered it, the eyeliner looks really good, and when you close your eyes it really does look like it has exaggerated your eyes and made them more defined. It tends to last quite a while aswell, as long as you make sure you dont rub your eyes as it does come off easily with rubbing and isnt waterproof. Its easy to take off with either makeup remover or soap and water works fine. I really like this eyeliner, and it create sdramtic eyes which look really professiaonlly done and lasts all day. Just have a few practices first!
Again another simple product I am reviewing. I got this as part of a set for christmas, as many people know how much I love the simple brand. To buy this individually it costs around 2.20 for a 200ml better, so pretty reasonable and widely available in wilkinsons, botts, supermarkets and superdrug etc. The packaging is the traditional simple design, with the green flip cap lid, and white bottle, with simple logo design on the front. This shampoo like all other simple products is ph balanced, fragrance free, and also lanolin free, and this shampoo is suitable for both normal and greasey hair.
The biggest dissappointment with this shampoo, is that because it is fragrance free you dont get that smell when lathering it through your hair, so this is a shame because I love that smell of clean shampooed hair, which you dont really get with this. It does lather really well, and gets rid of all the grease well. When drying my hair it did look really clean and healthy and had a good shine to it, so it is a good shampoo, but my hair didnt have that nice smell to it, like it does when I use herbal essences or pantene etc. It is kind to your hair, and doesnt strip it of vital natural oils, so hair is soft and shiny. But because my scalp is not that sensitive like the skin on my face I would prefer a shampoo with a hint of fragrance. Howvere if you have a really sensitive scalp and suffer from sensitive skin then this would be great.
I love simple products so thought I would try their deodorant as prefer using products which are perfume free. This deodorant was only 1.80 from wilkinsons and so thought I would try it. The packaging is a curved type roll on design, with green cap. The roll on glides easily and softens skin instantly when applied. The deodorant contains vitamin E to moisturise the skin, so your underarm skin does become much more smooth and soothes skin, especially after shaving. The smell of the deodorant is fresh and neutral and because there is no perfume to it, is is perfect for sensitive skin. The anti perspirant works at keeping your underarms smelling fresh, howvere it is not so good at keeping you dry. I found I got quite damp patches towards the end of my day and didnt really keep me dry at all. I can imagine if I have been exercising etc this anti perspirant would have failed quite miserbaly. So not as good as some of their products I have tried, and I wouldnt be buying this again as it doesnt really do the job.
Yet again another simple review, but I love their products and want people to try them, as they are so good to your skin and a god send if you have sensitive skin. This scrub is a facial wash but has an exfoliant in it and this helps to remove scrub to remove dead cells and impurities and leaves skin much smoother and more evenly balanced. The scrub shouldnt really be used more than a couple of times a week because it could aggrevate skin if used too much. The exfoliant is really gentle on skin though and has tiny micro beads which help to lift up dirt from pores and clean deep down. This scrub like all other simple products has vitamin e to moisturise skin and protein b5 to soothe and nourish skin, and as always is perfume and colour free. It comes in quite a small tube, but you only need a small amount applied to damp skin, and gently massage into the skin, into all areas, avoiding the eyes, nose and mouth though. Because you only need to use this once or twice a week, it will last a long time, and you will really see the benefits
I usually use dove soap in the shower, but saw this simple shower gel in the supermarket the other day and thought I would try it, as I use a lot of their products on my face. The shower gel costs around 1.89 from superdrug or wilkinsons, but is priced slightly higher if you go to Boots etc, and it comes in a 200ml bottle. The packaging is clean, white and has the simple shower gel design, with the flip top lid, which stands on its head. The shower gel lathers really well in the hands or sponge and is clear in colour, which satisfies you that there is no artificial ingredients in there, and no colours etc. The gel is oh balanced and contains no perfume, but does have a very fresh and natural smell to it, which makes skin smell clean and refreshed. The gel soothes skin with its protein b5 ingredient and also softens skin with the vitamin E it ocntains. It is a really good shower gel, and is very sensitive to skin, even in delicate areas.
