Thats right Uropa - or Poo-poker or U-Grop-her, has shut - last I saw (about two weeks ago) it had a load of old boards stuck outside it. I went there the first week it opened. I never had cider since that night! but I did go again - and it was pretty god -especialy on a saturday I think it was, it was a good dance night for its time - but the place went down hill. It became a "sticky carpet" club! I right dive in some eyes. Oh dear - if only they'd hae kept it tidy! Thing is thats where Sundisential Noth was held - I never went, would have liked to, but wheres that gonna be held now? huh? Answers please...
I can't believe no ones written about the Empire yet! Well... Sugarshack on a friday night has to be one of the best club nights in the country - it is a seriously underrated clb, that doesn't quite get the recognition it deserves, but that doesn't stop it being packed weekin and weekout, oh no. With a top DJ line up to boot, the nigt just can't go wrong. I have had some of the best nights of my life there, for your bog standard Friday night out - this is the business - it turns your night into an event! The place is in an old Theatre and has kept its look, especially with the long balcony that wraps around the place. Judge Jules kicked off his tour of some of Britaind clubs for his Radio 1 show there - what a night that was. Paul Oakenfold often crops up about every other month - which is nice. Pete Tong played on the Reopening night after new year - that was awsome! (I shuck his hand!) Now heres a quote - Jeremy Healey (who I thought was cack bfore I saw him play there) says its the best club he's ever played in!!! Check out http://www.theempire.co.uk for more news (its a new site so be patient about its temprament!)
Hey! I'm a dance fan (and Indie fan), and Majestycs is pants for PROPPER dance music - go to the Space club instead. "Magics" is just SSSsoooooo Cheesey its untrue. The place could be so more creditable if they got desent dj's in there, except on a bank holiday. Thing is its packed, week in, week out, so why would they want to change the formula when they get the response they do? Its all charty stuff - with the now obligatory garage trash thats poluting the hit parade these days! Go if your trollied - not before! Hey I tell you what - they do have some (or they did when I last went a few years ago!) cracking student nights! - though the draft beer is gnats pish!
What a day! Well...16 hours anyway! It was Fan-bleading-tastic! a rollocking good time was had by all - except for that Topanga! Were you stuck around the toilets all day! Seems like your not into the Dance culture type scene of Britain today - if you were, you'd know it's THE best dance festival in Britain, nay, the WORLD!!! Apparently some people had their moiles pinched by a bunch of local scallies that managed to get in to the site, luckily I managed to avoid them, and boogied the night away. How Class was Ferry Corsten? How magical was PVD? How rocking was Judge Jules...Seb Fontaine...Pete Tong...Chicane...PAUL OAKENFOLD!!! Creamfields 2001... bring it on, I'm queing already!
You people seem to have forgotten the visual delights of "Bang Bang its Reeves and Mortimer" Though perhaps not as well resieves as "The Smell of..." it still had some memorable classic goings on in there. Are we having fun? - Its Giro Day! or something like that! I can't quite remember! "The Club" ... need I say more? (is this 75 words yet?!?!?) What about Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased) - was that good - I think so. I only managed to view a couple of episodes - I was always out on the raz by that time on a Saturday evening!
