I have used Amazon for over two years and I think that its a great all-rounder site on the net.
Buying - There are two main types of buying items, from Amazon direct or from sellers.
Amazon - They do not charge anything for delivery as of a few days ago therefore items are very cheap and get delivered straight away. Please note that super saver delivery is very unpredicatable, it is either incredibly fast like first class post or very slow and take over a week to arrive.
Sellers (marketplace) - These people are individuals or companies who are selling items just like if they were on the streets. The items are generally good but some people are unfortunately there to scam people out of their hard earned cash but sometimes if you are lucky Amazon will refund the money which you had been scammed for as the money cannot be taken without the person confirming that they had recieved the item.
Selling - You can either be a company or an induvidual trader on Amazon marketplace. Please note that Amazon will take a cut of the profits but on the good side you can list used items to sell which means you can keep a cycle going which saves money in the long run.
Overall its a great site although it may be hard for new users to navigate through.
I have been a customer of play.com for a least two years now and they are hands down the best retailer for movies, CD's and games around. It is so simple to purchase items, all you do is click on buy then login and pay. There are no hidden delivery charges and there are no "extra" payments required for thing you don't even require. Even without these tricks which are wielded by many other companies you still get great prices and if you want to check just go on Google shopping and see for yourself (remember to add shipping charges to prices from other sites!). Please note that the items do come from Jersey which means that delivery does take around five days maximum and sometimes if there are postal strikes the time required for the parcel to reach your house can peak at ten days. Therefore I wouldn't recommend this site for last minute buying but if you are looking for something that is much cheaper then this site is the way to go. The site itself is very easy to navigate and has never been down in my experience and they even release voucher codes from time to time to reduce the prices even further!
Overall its a great site that I highly recommend you do your games shopping on!
I have had this wireless router for a few months now and I think that it is amazing. To be honest only one of my laptops has Wireless-N enabled but the main selling point was the number of aerials. May be stupid but I needed high coverage throughout my house and the picture coupled with the information and the reviews I read lead me to believe that despite the price this wireless router was the one that I would require.
Connectivity - Within 30 minutes I had this wireless router up and running, my ISP is TalkTalk and please note that this version of the router does come with a modem and works with ASDL but not cable so please check your type of internet connection in advance.
Speed - With wireless - N I easily achieve 108mbps and even when I am using wireless B/G I still get great speeds and coverage on my laptop and not a dead spot around.
Overall this is a great wireless router but before I end this review please remember to use a decent level of security to disable hackers from accessing your personal files or even better block out all MAC addresses and only let your own MAC addresses through which is a sure fire way to make sure your files are secure within your home/business.
This service is a god send for many people. On the whole Amazon DVD rental is cheaper, faster and better than other services such as blockbuster as you don't pay any late fees and assuming you sign up to a package suited to your viewing habits then it provides great value for money. I would only rent DVD's from them as it does cost a pound a month extra for games and the whole point to get the most out of the service is to keep on getting, watching and returning DVD's if you are on the unlimited plan. This way you can watch as many DVD's as possible. If you do wish to go for game rental then try and read review beforehand to gauge how long the game would take to finish. If its a few hours then you might as well go ahead because in the end you get to finish the game and save the RRP, otherwise buy the game.
Speed - The average turnaround time is 4 days which is OK although it does depend on the postal service
DVD - The DVD's basically come from lovefilm so they should be fine although it may be hard to get popular titles.
Overall its a great service and although Tesco DVD rental is cheaper, amazon do give vouchers time to time!
OK just to start off with, please don't become a facebook addict if you are deciding to use this online utility due to this review. It is a great website which will help find people you have lost contact with and even make new friends that you may meet on forums but once again careful about people who you meet on the net, you never know who they actually are!
Speed of site - Very fast most of the time, when it comes down to applications it does slow down quite a bit but this may be down to the application, sometimes the site can be painfully slow and this is usually down to a hacker which seems to be very frequent during these last few months
Applications - My favourite application has to be MafiaWars which I regard as the main reason why I use facebook everyday.
Social-wise - It is very easy to find friends using the search function and even better for people who use msn/aim/yahoo because it has a tool which adds everybody who uses facebook with the same email address.
Overall its a great site and very easy to get addicted to, make sure you do change your privacy settings to just "friends only" if you want to keep personal information safe such as mobile numbers but I wouldn't put it up in the 1st place anyway!
I have gone to Boots Opticians for years and although they do charge over the odds for glasses and contacts at least they are decent people who actually try to check out your eyes. A few times before my glasses have broken with me at fault but they would fix them free of charge assuming if its just a screw missing or a semi bent frame. Obviously if you do break a lense or the whole frame then you do have to pay again. When it comes to appointments the people who work at the company are very prompt and even in smaller stores (Wimbledon) they still manage to have more than one testing area which means that more people can be checked over per hour. The after care is also superb, for example getting a contact lens check-up is £35 but it comes with three different appointments to check on your eyes adjustment, a teaching lesson and a weeks worth of free contact lenses. Word of warning though, if you do decide to get an appointment in the weekend please make sure you book at least 5 days in advance as chances are that there won't be any time left otherwise. Overall great eye clinic, highly recommended.
I have used Tesco DVD rental for a few months now and although I was on a trial the service was excellent. Surprisingly they were actually better than lovefilm even though they operated under them and although I was using free trials the prices quoted by Tesco were much cheaper than lovefilm which shows that it pays to shop around because in the end you get exactly the same discs in the same time with the only difference being the tesco advertising on the envelope which comes through the post. For the newbies out there the maximum amount of DVD's which are held in envelopes is three which means that it can easily fit through the smallest of post boxes because unlike retail DVD's Tesco prefer to use this special type of DVD wallet which adds very little bulk on but is very protective of the disc. Postage-wise the speeds have been fantastic with a three day turnaround on most discs which is the best which can be achieved with this sort of service as it operates through the post. The only downside is that popular DVD's are much harder to get hold of and in the end you may not receive them or receive them right at the end and not have enough time to watch them or even worse watch them but because the DVD's are returned after the deadline you are charged for the first month! But overall it is a great service which I highly recommend.
P.S You can also earn clubcard points if you opt to pay for the service after a trial.
I have worn these for around a month now and I promise you that if you start wearing these you won't feel them at all. These are so easy to put on in the morning and can easily be left on until 10 at night because unlike many other brands they don't dry your eyes out. On my 1st day I only realised that I had them in for around ten minutes and since then it was like I have had perfect vision throughout my life. The contacts come in blister packs which can be broken apart one by one which makes it easy to store away in a pocket or handbag so in the case you do lose a contact it is easy to fit another one back in. The only downside is probably the price with the cheapest I could find being 180 lenses for £50.80 which would cost 59p a day (assuming you wear 2 lenses/1 pair per day).
Overall these are probably the best contact lenses on the market so have no hesitation in change your brand to see much more clearer!
I have had this speaker system for over a few now after buying it when I read the reviews on this site. Basically please do not be fooled by the amount of watts, 9W is more than enough for a sub woofer, it will easily give out a clean bass which is heavy enough to shake the 1st floor when its on the ground floor (watch out for neighbours though). The speakers are fine but be warned that if they are used without the sub woofer they sound horrible. Even if you hate bass you will realise what you are missing if the table top speakers on their own are used. I bought this set for £16 and you shouldn't pay more than £20 for them otherwise you may as well go for the Logitech X-210's. Another good point is that although it emulates the bass of a home cinema system it is at a fraction of the size. It is around 16cm high which is tiny for a sub woofer while the table top speakers are even smaller but together they provide a rich harmony equal to a system worth at least five times more. You won't regret this purchase, a quality item from a brand name at a rock bottom price (please note that this is an OEM item therefore the packaging is plain and the instruction are limited but its simple to set up anyway).
I have owned this microwave for a few months now and it well yes it is a microwave but it does so much more than just that.
Since I bought it I have used all three functions which I shall comment on:
Microwaving - This model is a whopping 1000w which is currently the most powerful setting you can get on a microwave this size, if you do require more (which I really doubt but if you do consider a wall built one), on average when cooking something microwaveable take the 700w time and minus 15 seconds per minute to get the same effect in obviously less time.
Oven - The 1st time please read the manual and turn the oven on but with nothing inside as the oil used to protect the element has to evaporate (more on this is inside the manual)
Grill - Grills perfect but some foods aren't meant for microwave cooking so please read the back of the food packet before you do so.
Overall its a great microwave but yes there is one problem which won't apply to everyone, the top of the microwave has holes to let the air out therefore don't leave cups of liquids at the top as it may topple over and seep inside the microwave which is dangerous for the next user if unknown.
The story is basically like all the rest of the Resident Evil there is a group of zombies/demons and you have to dispatch them. Though you see one or two more people along the way. You start of in a police car and then you go further into the town and further into trouble. The story though gives you a hear in mouth impression.
The graphics are sensational. The surroundings are very good from dark outside with trees that even look evil and even objects. You've also got a very Gothic inside as well. With churches having an eerie feel to the place. The characters are detailed and the guns are quite good. The gun shots look very realistic and then movement of the zombies is quite funny.
Sound also adds effect as well. Especially when you are in a fire-fight or indoors. Having good sound makes a scary game come to life. The sound really adds to it. The grunts from the zombies etc is very eerie as well. So overall sound creates a very scary atmosphere.
Resident Evil 4 deserves all its high ratings. I really must say that this game blew my socks off. With every aspect of the game being excellent I had to really struggle to find an excuse and I wish it would have been a longer game as well, that's all. So Resident Evil 4 has set a record for all other games to set. Will anyone match this game or not apart from grand theft auto series of course =).
It is an absolute genius of a masterpiece any man must behold in its magnificence and beauty that is Grant Theft Auto: San Andreas. It is Rockstar's finest achievement to date and will continue to be until the next Grand Theft Auto. Every new Grand Theft Auto that comes out brings with it new hope and expectation of the most amazing experience any gamer can ever imagine, I honestly cannot stress how big this game is, when this game arrived on the shelves so did Rockstar's finest hour, their pride and joy, their baby, Grand Theft Auto San Andreas.
Set in the 1990's when body art, the hip hop scene, violence, sex, and profanity. All of these refer to what GTA San Andreas is mainly about, hate it or love it . You can purchase many properties in the game and build a criminal empire improving your reputation as you progress throughout the game with missions and buying properties and many other unlockables etc. There is improved A.I. in GTA: SA with gangs being able to follow you in missions and external unlockable missions outside the compulsory missions. An excellent new feature in GTA: SA is the gym and the "you are what you eat" attitude in the game. You can go into a fast food store and purchase many burgers, but be warned if you eat to much food in to short period of time you can be sick. You can go to the gym to gain muscle, lose weight, and improve your cardiovascular endurance and improve your character appearance. This can be great fun and is executed well, as you cannot lift your maximum weight all day, there are realistic repetitions and sets, and you can also do a bit of sparring in the gym if you wish to improve your one on one or group combat. There are also new vehicles including bicycles for you to ride on, and new weapons and targeting system.
You can pretty much do anything in GTA: SA from riding bicycles to getting your haircut to completing random missions robbing houses, pretty much everything you were told as a kid not to do you can do (except for cutting your hair).
The missions are as ever intense in depth and compelling, they seem realistic as the best a PS2 can offer for a game. Even if you complete the whole game the secret missions will keep you busy for months and months finding packages, you can play basketball as well ( another way to lose weight and get fit - virtually of course).
But be warned this game is not rated an 18+ game for no reason, this is not for the faint hearted, and you go on killing sprees and everything deadly with a with a huge arsenal of weapons. This game is a brilliant buy and a must buy for anyone, you will fully understand when you play it.
I have had this game for a few months and I thing this game is awesome. The story line is well thought, the fighting was not just button mashing (there were specific ways to kill specific bosses), and the puzzles are challenging without being so hard you eventually give up. The soundtrack is also very good. It's always nice to have visuals and sounds. The bosses are also very fun. Each had its own different weakness and strength. One thing I would like more though is to see bosses be more random. One example is when fighting the Steeds of time gatekeeper, the blasts from the ground were always in the same place, and he would strike the ground on either the left or the right (very repetitive). One thing I didn't like about this game although the fact that it takes over a minute to load although in all fairness it is worth the sheer brilliance of the graphics regarding the fact that the console that its being used on is over 8 years old.
Overall I really enjoyed the game and am looking forward to any continuations (PSP version, prequel/ another sequal, or even movie).
I am currently in a 18 month contract with three and I am so glad I am with them.
Speed - I usually achieve 2mb per second which is average of a fixed broadband line so considering this is wireless is an absolute bargain! Although please note that the speed does depend on coverage and so far my slowest speed has been around 100kbps although this still beats modem dial up which maximum was 56 kbps.
Coverage - Naturally this product works better when I'm using my laptop outside but inside there is still enough coverage to get a decent speed although please note that on the three site make sure you have HSPDA/3G coverage in your area for the internet as GSM/EDGE/2G wont be utilized as it is only intended for calls and texts.
Dongle - This was probably the hardest bit of setting up the internet as I had to install the dongle but all the information was in a different language. Therefore I had to call three up and I was told there was a new firmware for English out and that I had to navigate through the menus which I didn't understand to update it but luckily the assistant walked me through and within thirty minutes I was up and running the English client.
Overall great but if you are a bit of a technophobe its best to stick to landline broadband.
I have used this product as my primary security suite on my PC and so far its been close to perfect.
Firstly the virus scanner : It is average when it comes to speed, Norton 360 (which I have also reviewed) is much faster due to a feature which lets it to skip safe files but nonetheless this virus scanner will pick up viruses and malware without much worry.
The firewall is hard to configure which may be good for users which have little knowledge about them but for many people who have home networks and play online games may find it hard as many ports are blocked due to security and it takes forever to fully unblock the ports but afterwards there will be constant notifications indicating that a port is open.
The best part is also free, siteadvisor works on a traffic light system and indicates whether a site is regarded as safe or not. Please note that it only works on Opera, Firefox and Internet Explorer which is a hassle to me as I prefer to use Google Chrome (which I have also reviewed).
Overall its a good security suite but remember to always buy the download version as there is usually an added charge for ordering a CD off the mcafee site.
