Having just finished a bottle of this drink as I write i can safely say i really enjoyed it. For me most other energy drinks don't taste particularly nice, almost as if you can taste the caffeine :( However this drink is sweet without being sickly, and surprisingly refreshing. I have never had any stomach problems having had this drink before either, which if you've ever seen "the inbetweeners" you'll know can be a real problem. I now feel awake having had a very early morning for a student like myself of 8.30 (I know its a hard life!), so the energy aspect of this drink appears to be in effect. The wholes bottle is recyclable so i can now put this bottle in a blue bin on campus and rest assured that as a geography student i am doing my bit for the environment. Why not give it a go, only 80p if you shop well, and this will definitely keep you awake on those long motorway journeys in my experience, but don't come after me if you fall asleep at the wheel!
As i have said with my review of the 160GB model i am a music lover. I have a large library and as a result i need an MP3 with large storage capabilities. This model gives you this for sure, especially now it is more difficult to find larger storage MP3 devices. The sound quality is fine in my experience, and the supplied headphones have a fairly good quality, even if they are a little fragile. I purchased mine just under three years ago, and it served my well for two and a half years until i got it wet on holiday this summer. Until then it had suffered numerous drops and knocks, but other than a couple of scratches it was working great. Unfortunately it was out of warranty at this point, although whenever i have had to use customer service at Apple before they have been brilliant, collecting my item by courier and sending me a new model within two weeks. The software is good, i have never had any real problems with lag at all, and you can multitask by listening to music and playing the supplied games. It is fairly straightforward to use as a beginner, with the scroll and click navigation pretty self explanatory. The Coverflow view is a novel way of seeing all you're album covers and makes good use of the scroll wheel, however once i had got over the wow factor i rarely used it as it was a bit slow and impracticle to find the music i wanted. The screen may be too small to watch films for some but is ok for me for personal use on journeys. I had to convert a lot of my videos from .avi which took a while, but the files are smaller once optimized for the ipod screen meaning you can fit more on. Battery life is superb, with this ipod lasting for around five to six days listening to work whilst i work, travel etc. daily. Charging time is quite quick, but most people would plug it in overnight which is more than enough. There are a lot of extras available as well, with this being an apple product, and you will find many new hifi's and speaker systems with compatible docks nowadays, although of course it is still compatible to most through the 3.5mm headphone jack. The memory will vbe more than enough for most users, i have even made use of mine as an external harddrive for data storage on occasion as well. Itunes itself is a pleasure to use and has a huge library of media to buy, even if it does slow your computer down slightly. All in all i would highly recommend this ipod, apple again excel and if youre a serious music lover this is a must. Remember theres a reason why there are no other lrge capacity MP3 players in the market, because this model has beaten them all off hands down.
I consider myself to be a bit of a music type. I have invested a lot into my ever growing music collection, and for me when i travel i dont just want a choice of a few artists, i want all of my artists there. I also prefer to listen to music in albums as opposed to singles. For me there was only one choice, Apple have shown product after product that they build excellent quality, attractive and simply brilliant items, and this is no different. Stop now if you are after apps because you wont find them. This is a music playing device, with the ability to look at videos and photos, and play solitaire if you like, but you daily fix of Angry Birds will not be found here. The biggest plus of this device is the fact it gives you loads of storage... and then some. I applaud you're investment in you music collection if you have too much music for this device, as i find it has enough room for all my music, loads of films and a few photos, with room to spare. The sound quality is excellend, and build quality good, although this did replace my 80gb model, which broke due to my carelessness after two and a half years of daily loyal service. Syncing with iTunes is quick and easy, and the iTunes store is as good if not better than any other for music, film, tv and anything else you may want. The battery will last me for days listening to music a lot, with about four hours of video play on a bright backlight in my opinion. The only holdback is the price, although you wont find another MP3 with this kind of memory in the UK, unless the Zune gets a UK release which seems unlikely. Overall a must for avid music fans, but for the casual listener, maybe try a low storage or a an ipod touch??
I purchased my first ereader about two years ago, a cut price imagin model from smiths, and to be fair it served me well, with two problems, it had a colour backlit screen which hurt the eyes after a half hour of reading, and it was very difficult to find books. So when my girlfriend started making noises about wanting an ereader for herself there was only one place i was going to point her. The Kindle library is by far the most well stocked online library (Think appstore compared to android market or bb apps) and the ability to download books straight from the kindle eliminates the need for a PC... brilliant. The e-ink screen, whilst not visible in the dark (Although I don't recall a book ever being so), does not strain the eyes at all and the font size can easily be be changed. But for me the best thing about this new kindle is the price. the kindle 3 was a hefty £111, quite a lot for a poor student like me, but this model is around £30 cheaper, making it the cheapest on the market for a similar device. The old feature of surfing the web is still there, although it is quite slow, but then you buy this to read books not surf the web. This device is also quicker than the previous kindle with page turning almost instantaneous. The best aspect of the kindle for me however is the amount of free out of copyright books you can buy. You will quickly make you money back just reading some Bronte, Dickens and Shakespeare instead of buying the books. All in all, I cant see a reason why if you can afford this you don't get it.
Before I bought a pair of these earbuds I was of the opinion that the SkullCandy brand was packed full of albeit attractive, but overpriced headphones with poor sound quality in comparison to other brands in their price range. I do personally feel that there are better options than SkullCandy with the more expensive models, particuarly the headphones, however when i saw a pair of these earbuds for £7 in TK Maxx i thought why not give them a go, and boy am I glad i did. For a very affordable £7 you get a pair of earbuds with a strong bass, good volume, and little other sound coming through other than the music. So far four months in the sound quality hasn't worsened at all, and neither of the speakers have packed it in, a first for me with earbuds at this price. Ok they don't have a fabric coated cable, or an extension lead, but at this price your not going to get everything. I was also pleasantly surprised that they seem to stay in my ears whilst on a run, which most don't, however this is subject to your ear shape so they may not for everyone. All in all a very solid option for the low price.
Wow. Just Wow. Having caught the odd episode on Sky i couldnt really understand this show, i mean how does an overweight, unpleasant and not very attractive guy like Tony get so much?? But having been persuaded into getting the full boxset by my brother i was absolutely hooked 10 minutes in. The sopranos basically combines the family drama elements that we all love to watch with the fascinating world of organised crime, dealing with issues such as family values, loyalty, friendship, loss, and stereotyping of the Italian American with perfectly balanced elements of drama suspense and a dash of humour. It is called by many the greatest tv show ever, and it definately is near the top of HBO's long list of brilliant drama series. I cant recall a series in which i was more immersed and cared so much about the characters. As someone who love getting their teeth into a good boxset this is definately one of my favourites, and i found myself stopping watching a Dexter season finale for a few weeks to keep watching this. Brilliant, and dont be put of with the mafia elements of this series, there is so much there for everyone, no matter what you previously thought made a good show
I got given a pair of these headphones as a Christmas present just over a year ago, and their still going strong. They are, in my opinion anyway, a great looking design, with a wide range of different colors to suit you best. For the price of around £30 they are as good as any other similar designs that i have tried out when it comes to sound quality with a good bass, and the sound quality isn't compromised when you turn the sound right up. They are very lightweight and comfortable both on your head or around your neck. They also have a fabric coated lead, making the lead must more robust, and also comes with a lead extension, so you can either have your MP3 player etc. in you breast or trouser pocket without loads of loose cables. They have a good build quality about them, which has only ever been compromised when my girlfriend stood on them, however even then i managed to fix the by unscrewing part of it and applying a combination of blu tack and super glue (but i dont recommend it as you'll void the warranty!) All in all a great buy for the price, but don't expect them to compete with Beats headphones or anything like that.
My first foray into the smartphone and android worlds, i was absolutely smitten with this device when i first bought it. It looks stunning, with the all in one metal casing and contrasting black screen. At the time of buying 18 months ago it could also handle 99% of apps well. Unfortunately this is another example of a handset which has got left behind by successors. It has nothing like the processing power of newer models, and newer apps such as angry birds rio will be so slow they are rendered unplayable. However most of the more business orientated apps worked ok, such as email and reading documents. It is a good phone for music playback, and the stock music app does a good job of automatically sorting your music collections for you. External storage is also available via micro sd, whch can be picked up for quite cheap on amazon nowadays and are well worth the extra for apps and media etc. However its small screen size goes against it when compared to newer models. Apps are much easier to use with a bigger screen and this phone falls down in this respect, and the screen is not as bright as others now available. However the worst thing about this phone for me was the amount of bugs i encountered when using it. The phone ran well for the first three months, but then a bug appeared where it would act as if it had a mind of its own, opening menu and apps without being touched. firmware upgrades failed to solve this, and after sending back to HTC i was informed the fault was irrepairable and they had discontinued the model in the UK. Just as well really as they sent me a much better, but less beautiful, HTC Desire instead, which i would recommend. It is also worth noting that the battery life is not great on this phone. Whilst you should expect to charge most smartphones every night, i found even with moderate use this phone would be struggling com three o'clock on a busy day, not great if you want to use the primary function of calling people a lot. This phone is cheaper on contracts than others, but in my opinion if you are going get a smartphone it should easily run the apps you want it too, after all they are all about user friendliness, so i feel the extra money would again be well spent on another model. All in all this is a fairly average android model running 2.2, and for me whilst i think it looks great, there are too many drawbacks for me to recommend it.
I have had this phone on my contract for a year and a half now, and wow its a good bit of kit. It handles every app i have ever run on it with ease, and as my first smart phone, has completely changed my everyday habits. I use it to easily pick up emails, browse the web, play games, keep appointments, browse social networks etc. The only problem for my is the stock homescreen, HTC Sense, and accompanying apps. HTC sense, which featuring the visually pleasing iconic clock, is really quite boring after a while, there is no real customisation options past changing the background, and not way to change the app drawer appearance. This can be easily remedied by home replacement apps however, but these can take up quite a lot of space. The most frustrating element of this phone is the stock apps, which are no where near as good as alternatives on the market and take up a lot more space which could be used by other apps. They are not Apps2SD enabled either, even more annoying! This phone is good for listening to music as well. I would say now however that in the last year newer handsets have let this model behind with larger brighter screens and faster processors, so my advice now would be to look at some of the newer HTC incarnations or Samsung for the best android devices.
I have now owned my Aspire 5741 for just over a year, and it has managed everything i have asked it too with ease. I am an undergraduate student so my demands on my laptop include heavy word processing and internet researching, and therefore good multitasking capabilities, good music and video playback, a strong wireless receiver for those times on campus when signal is fading, and the ability to play the odd computer game or two. In all of these categories it stands up very well, with the Intel Core i3 processor making this model substantially faster than most of the 4gb RAM models in the same price range. This is evident when using heavier programs such as ArcGIS, SPSS Statistics and Idrisi Taiga, which are necessary for my course, which all run as well as the University desktops, which i was not expecting from a budget laptop. The processor is also powerful enough to run many games, however if you are a serious gamer this is not for you as the graphics card will not meet the top requirements for the latest graphics heavy games. This laptop benefits over many due to its large 15.6" HD screen, which is very good, especially when it comes to watching films and other HD content on this laptop. Despite this there is only a DVD/RW drive, so unfortunately no viewing of Blu-Ray discs. Whilst this is a larger laptop, due to the screen and large keyboard (which includes dedicated number keys) it isn't bulky, and i rarely have problems transporting this to campus and back. The Sound quality from the inbuilt speakers is as you would expect, and surprisingly un-tinny for a laptop provided you don't have the volume too high. It is absolutely fine for personal video use or music listening. The in built webcam provides good quality photos and videos, and as a regular skype user it has been more than adequate for this function. As for Windows 7 it is a definite improvement on Vista, both in terms of performance and user friendliness. The battery life remains strong over a year after purchase, with it exceeding three hours whilst windows is in "power saver" mode. The laptop has three usb ports, more than enopugh for the average user for a mouse and any external storage requirements, ethernet, screen output, 3.5mm jack input and output and HDMI output. My only gripe with this laptop is one that I, and thousands of other Acer users have had problems with in the past. The catch to the low price of this very impressive laptop is in the build quality, which whilst not immediately obvious in this attractive looking model on the outside, resulted in my hard drive malfunctioning eight months in. All credit to Acer they repaired my Laptop and returned it to me withing a week, however I do worry whether this will happen again now i am no longer in warranty. Unfortunately this means a lower score, but provided your get a bug free model, this laptop would be the way to go for an affordable fast machine, with excellent multitasking and multimedia capabilities.
