My son got this from us for christmas and i dont know if i bought it for him or for me as its fab !! Its from the Early learning centre and is priced at £35.They often have reductions throughout the year with 20% off vouchers being available so you may be able to purchase at a reduced price.
The boat comes with 5 pirates, a treasure chest and a table with a treasure map on.The doors on the boat open up and the steeting wheel moves giving little ones lots of bits to have a play around with.My son likes to put the pirates in the crows nest then loudly shout ahoy !! I love the fact that the pirates all look different as my son can distuguish between them and my younger little boy also gets to play then which is ideal.
The boat is brightly coloured and very sturdy. The doors and other parts are all in excellent condition and this has been a very well played with toy believe me !! They loved it soo much we got the pirates cove that goes with it that i would highly reccommend.
Excellent toy for little ones with lots of adventures to be had.If you dont have the pirates cove then i would say to go get one as it adds to the play factor for the kids and will definitely make them very happy ship mates !!
Up until my recent experience with Ikea i couldnt fault them but since seeing the bad side of their customer services i now have a slightly different feeling.
The local store near to me is Lakeside over in Essex and i do love going there as its got so many unique and resonably priced products you cant find elsewhere. Its also great as its flat packed so if its in stock you can pick it up,take it home and build it at your leisure.I especially love the kids department there as it has alot of choice and ideas for little ones rooms and yet at a very affordable cost.We bought my sons first proper bed from here and it was easy to put together, very sturdy and also a great price. Its a shame they have now stopped doing it as i wanted to get the same one for my youngest son.
In the ikea store there are many departments......
Kitchen,Office,Bedroom,Kids,Lighting,Textiles,Living room and many more. The great thing about Ikea stores is the lay out everything for one department is in the one place and there are normally dedicated specialists within these departments to help and advise you where they can.
My store when i visit has a creche for children i have never used it for my kids as they are too young but it does look good fun and its free. The store also has a nice restaurant where the food yet again is excellently priced.I would highly reccommend the meatballs that they do there they are sooo yummy !! The store also has a hotdog/ice cream counter down by the exit where you can get great hotdogs for as low priced as 30p !!
My most recent issue with Ikea has been down to a bed that i bought from them 3 years ago.The bed comes with a 25 year guarantee so when the side of the bed that i sleep on suddenly collapsed i found my paperwork and gave them a call. The organise for someone to come out and look at the bed and then decide if it comes under the guarantee. My bed is a sprung mattress and they have completly collapsed but yet ikea deemed it not to be a manufacturing problem and instead blamed it that i have sat on my bed ?!?!?
I was not very happy at this response as i didnt know you are not allowed to sit on your bed and also i wasnt happy that the 25 year guarentee it has is basically not worth the paper its written on as it doesnt cover much !! I am currently going through a complaint with the head office as the customer service there was disgusting and it really has made me think of them slightly different and i wouldnt reccommend the beds/mattresses to anyone !!
Besides the bed/mattress & customer service issue i do still like the products and the prices i will just never buy the items that have let me down again.
This was reccommended to me by my friend as she had recently potty trained her son and said it was a must have so as i was training my son i decided that i would go and purchase one.I have only actually seen them in two retailers (mothercare & boots) they were about the same price wise so i decided to go to boots for the added benefits of boots points. The price for it is £12.99 which initially sounded like alot but for all the use it has had/still having i am really pleased with it.The potette comes with some disposable liners,a bag to carry it in and the actual seat. The seat can be used as either a travel potty or a very handy seat for when your child is ready to go on the toilet but still too small to use the proper toilet seat.
To use the potette in the potty function you simply put on one of the disposable liners and fold the blue legs down and it stands like a normal potty. Then once the business is done you simply take off the bag and dispose of.The legs then fold down and the potette is flat and can be placed back in the bag.Great for when you are on the go as it is soo quick & convenient and to top it all alot more hygenic than most public toilets out there !!
Having had this now i dont know how i would have got along without it now as when you are out and about with a youngster that needs to go there is nothing worst than not knowing or being able to get to a toliet for them and them then having an accident. With this you will never have that problem.
The only down side i can think of is the bags that you use on the potty can be quite dear for replacements but we found a way round it, it might not be glamourus but we simply use a carrier bag and place some toliet roll inside it performing the same function just alot cheaper....
I have been on facebook for a good few years now and still love it !! It has helped me get back in touch with old friends and also make new ones.I did use myspace but after finding facebook sooo much easier i made the switch.
Facebook is a social networking site and gives you quite a few ways of contacting people from the basics of sending them an email, instant chat messgaes, write on the persons wall or even poke them...sounds more fun than it actually is.When you join you create a profile and on this you can show as much or as little info as you want. There are privacy settings so you can either have it that the world and his wife can see or just certain friends of yours.I have pictures of my two little ones on there so i have mine set up as private.
On the page you can post a status, its not something you have to do but it is another good way of communicating with everyone....
I mainly use mine for uploading pictures of me & the family as some of my relatives and friends live far away and dont get to see them in person so uploading them on there is great. Its a really easy process too and you can put the pics into lots of different photo albums.Say for example you go out on a work night out and you have pics of friends you can use the tagging function and tag different friends on facebook in the pictures...these then appear on their page so they can see them...quite a good idea...not so good if you have a dodgy pic of you taken by someone ...lol
I am a bit addicted to some of the games which you can play on there and you can get your other friends to play them too.My hubby calls me a geek as i am always on farmville or cafe world...but hey i love them !! There are also groups that you can join and show your support to and the types of groups vary sooo much from ones set up by your friends to ones set up to show your appreciation for certain tv shows....
Basically Facebook is a great way of staying in touch with people old & new and also passing your spare time away...trust me i never thought id be that hooked but i am :-)
We got this for my little boy for his 2nd birthday as we have a dyson and he is always trying to get it out and play with it and when i am hoovering following me around !! I had looked about for one of the little cylinder model ones but couldnt find one so went for this type instead. We bought it from Argos for £18.99 and thought for the price it should be quite good.We got it home and it was all put together just a few accessories (other hoover nozzles ) to attach.
The hoover is purple, grey and red in colour and the middle section (where on a real hoover the dirt would go) is clear and is full of little multi coloured plastic pieces that when the hoover is on swirl around. The hoover comes with 3 accessories a long nozzle, a brush ended one and a flat one. These are very easy to attach and also fit back on the dyson when done playing with.
There are two settings you can use it on, one is the basic play where the multi coloured plastic bits i mentioned swirl around to give the illusion of picking up dirt for the child. The second mode is where the hoover has real suction !! I am yet to see any evidence that the hoover does pick anything up but my son loves the idea that he is helping mummy !!
We have had this for about a year and its not got any marks or broken bits at all and believe me its been subject to quite a bit of rough play. The battery life is quite impressive considering that its quite a big toy and played with as much as it is.I have only had to buy a new set of batteries when it was bought (does not come with any).It takes 4 x size C batteries.
This is a nice little toy and it is made of durable material. Also when my son has friends round this is one of the first toys his little friends will go for so it must be entertaining !! Nice xmas presssie too
Where i work we have a team of snackers and on a weekly basis we much our way through god knows how many packs of biscuits and being in the middle of a recession we have all felt the pinch and decided maybe we should cut back from the good old branded biccies and go home branded. So on our lunch break we went off to our local asda. While down the good old biscuit aisle we picked up a few different packs then saw the smart price ones and thought for the bargain price of 31p we would give them a go.We grabbed a pack of the custard creams as there isnt too much to them that could go wrong really.
The packaging is the same as all the other smartprice products the night white & green so there is no mistake you will pick up the wrong ones. The biscuits look like all other custard creams two biscuit sandwiches with a custard flavoured filling in the middle. The taste of the biscuit was surprisingly nice and for the price i would say unexpected. The biscuits are nice and crunchy and the custard filling is think and creamy. These are definitely good for dunking as they can take a good few dunks before they start to fall apart ...the true sign of any good biscuit !!
The downside to these biscuits is the same as all the other ones out there they are not kind to the old waistline and at such a bargain price you would more than likely get more than the one pack at a time !! Each individual biscuit contains 64 calories and 2.7 grams of fat so when doing the maths they are not good for you but hey all things in moderation and you will be fine !!
Basically to sum up if you are after your usual custard cream but at a lesser cost then these are a must have cupboard essential !!
Our friends first brought this toy to my attention when i took my boys round there to play and they had one.My eldest son at the time was a little younger at the time and he thought this was fantastic. So when my younger sons 1st birthday came along i knew the exact present to buy !!
I looked online alot and found that the price was around the £35 mark so we went off to toys r us.Luckily on the day that we went it was on special offer at only £23 so i was very pleased !! We got the chair home and my little boy was very excited. You have to build the chair but its very simply its a simple place of clicking the pieces together. The chair when built is very sturdy.I like the colouring of it as its quite neutral (either for boys or girls) but if you do have a very girly girl then they also do a pink version.
The chair makes noises when the seat is sat on or got up from. There is a little side table attached that has a little lamp which turns on & off at a touch. There are some little crayons that when pressed depending on the mode of play you are in either make noises or sing.My little one sits for ages pressing these over and over again....There is also a book which tells the story of a puppy and the voices tell the story with sound effects along the way.
The chair is still being used on a daily basis by both of my children and sometimes they stand on it to look out at the green outside our house and it is in excellent condition.I am very pleased with this purchase and would highly reccommend with xmas coming up.
I recently just upgraded my phone as it was that time again on my contract and it couldn't have come sooner my old phone had gone bust and didnt want to even turn on anymore !!
I went into my local three store and due to me being on a cheap contract i was showed a very limited number of phones to upgrade to.I had looked online to see what was out there and decided that i liked the look of the samsung and the guy in the shop told me of the ones available it was the best one.I was very excited to get the phone home and got it out and started to have a play with it.The phone is glossy black and has a nice large screen 2.8 inches in size which is the same as alot of the digital cameras out there so you can see everything nice and clearly.
I have never had a touch screen phone before and im really impressed at how easy it is to use and being a texter rather than a talker i was worried that i might not be able to text like i normally do (super fast) and its actually incredibly easy the only thing i have found is that due to it being a new phone the dictionary is not full of all my usual lingo...lol
The phone has a new feature on the phone which is a widget.Basically this is a bar on the front of the menu screen that you can add different functions of the phone ton so you can access them more easily and yet again very easy to use with the touch screen. It does have set programmes on the widget which you can remove altogether or just add new ones to.
The phone has bluetooth,a built in fm radio, music player and a camera. The camera is 3.2 megapixels and has built in smile detection which is a great little function as it automatically looks for a smile in the photograph.I love this as i often use the camera to take pics of my two lovely boys so having a nice camera was important to me.I read another review saying that they could not get the pictures on the screen as a wallpaper and i agree its not the easiest of processes but it can be done. You go through the settings option on the phone and then display & light, then onto wallpaper and there you can select what image you want. This is where it gets tricky. There is then a white box that appears on the pic and it takes some playing with but you need to minimise the box so the whole of your pic goes into the box and thenit will set on the screen as the full pic !!
Believe me it took a lot of playing about with the phone and frustration but it can be done !!
The phone has alot of little features and as i use it more and more i find them !! I have personalised my phone from the wallpaper right to the font that i write my texts in.Its nice to be able to make it my own.
These are some of the phone specifications but if you needed to know anything else i would advise going onto the three website.
350 standby minutes
210 talktime minutes
width 54.8 mm
The phone does come with the skype application too even though i have never used it as of yet.
I am very impressed with this phone and on my £15 a month contract i didnt even have to pay for the phone which is excellent....Highly reccommended !!
I love Chicken Kiev and decided that as i have two very unfussy children it would be good to see if this is a food that they would like but rather than serving them a whole massive kiev on a plate i thought these would be ideal. The mini kiev balls are of a small size so ideal for little mouths....
The packaging states that the average contents is 15 and i had 16 in my pack so i must have got lucky. The packaging is bright green and clearly has bernard matthews on it so there is not mistaking it in the freezer department. The cooking instructions are clearly laid out on the back of the pack too.I oven cook mine which takes about 15 minutes with a fan oven at 200.You can also Grill them which takes less time, about 10 minutes so it makes them a quick little meal to prepare.
The balls are breadcrumb coated so be sure not to overcook them as they will become like little bullets that when trying to be cut into will fly off your plate....The sauce inside the balls does get incredibly hot so to avoid burnt mouths of little ones i always cut them open and let then cool a little. The sauce inside is very thick & creamy and definitely very garlicy....so dont expect any kisses after this meal...lol
These are a processed food so the nutritional value is not going to be great but once in a while doesnt do any harm.I have listed below the contents listed on the pack so people know the full facts.
PER KIEB the values are:
CALORIES - 47 which is 2.4% of guideline daily amount (GDA)
SUGAR - 0.2g which is 0.2% GDA
FAT - 2.4g which is 3.4% GDA
SATURATES - 0.5g which is 2.5% GDA
SALT - 0.2g which is 3.3% GDA
As you can see there are some naughty things in there but all things in moderation.I love these and they are a definite freezer must have.I get mine in asda and i often find that they are only £1 a pack so not only something nice but a right old bargain too.Bernard matthews are a well known brand and i think that the quality of the meat is very good considering how low the items are priced.
I love Tacos !! I had them first when i was a child and loved them but for years i never had them but then when out shopping one day spotted them on the shelf and decided to introduce my other half to the wonder that is tacos !!
The Old el Paso dinner kit comes with the basic ingredients to make tacos
You get 12 shells, the taco spicing and also the salsa dip.The box also lists the other ingredients needed which includes 500g of mince, tomatoes, lettuce and cheese. These bits are definitely needed for the full taco experience. The kit has nice clear instructions that are easy to follow.I would advise when picking out a pack to take one further from the back as i have just grabbed some right off the shelf then got them home and found that alot of the shells are broken which doesnt make them un edible but it does make them harder to eat.
The tacos have to go in the oven and they do become crunchy so when eating expect to make a little mess so not a meal to eat out on a first date...lol
The boxes do stand out on the supermarket shelf very well, they are bright yellow and red and clearly labelled. The taco dinner kit is around £2 but alot of the time you can get special deals and more often than that buy one get one free which is great as its such a quick and easy meal to make its ideal after a busy day at work to prepare.
I have tried a few other brands taco meal kits and found that they do not compare to Old El Paso, there is a slight edge that Old el paso have that the other brands just havent cottoned onto yet. There is a standard meal kit and there is also a stand and stuff kit which on reading i thought would be excellent but its actually not for me....I found that with every bite the tacos just fell apart !! I would definitely just stick to the standard Old el paso taco kit.
Yum Yum & Yum Once again !!
This is my favourite restaurant for a Chinese/Cantonese meal.We go to the restaurant as often as we can and its always my first choice for special nights out but more often that not its my first choice for a takeaway.
The restaurant to eat in is lovely. The tables are well laid out and very spacious which is great when you have a big group of people. They are also very accomodating with regards to table set ups (ie moving tables together)The tables are well presented they all have table cloths that are always outstanding clean considering what stains they must get on them. The toilets there are another place where you can see the little efforts that they make to ensure all aspects are a pleasure. The toilets are well maintained and on all the times i have been there they have always been fully stocked with toilet roll and hand soap which i feel are things that have sometimes let down places i have been to.
The staff if it be over the telephone or in person are very friendly and very helpful. When we first started going to this restaurant there were alot of dishes i had never heard of and the staff were always more than happy to give us a very good description and recommend dishes that they thought might suit our tastes and since then we have always felt ok to ask questions about the food and know we are getting a honest response. The staff when ordering over the telephone are quick & efficient and know the menu very well. They take card payments over the telephone too which is very helpful for when ordering for delivery.
When you dine in the restaurant they do an order off the menu eat as much as you like buffet. There is a set price of £14.95 for adults and £8.95 for children uner 1.3metres.The menu has so much variety its hard to know where to begin !!
There is a dish on the menu that i have never seen on any other chinese menu out there and its lush !! Prawns in honey sauce. This is my ultimate naughty treat as im sure something that tastes this good can just not be good for you....I savour every mouthful and as much as my hubby tries to get me to give him one its just not going to happen. If after reading this review you do visit then this dish is a must have !!
All the rest of the menu is just as lovely and arrives at your table well presented and piping hot.The other dish that both me and my hubby go mad for is the crispy aromatic duck which is a favourite of most people. The duck is always very tasty and very meaty unlike some of the places i have been to where its some poor excuse for a bit of meat !!
The takeaway menu is the same and delivery is always delivered as promptly as they can and the time they give is always very honest. Its a very popular restaurant so it can be a long wait but its worth it and 9 times out of 10 they are there before they say they will.
I think that compared to other takeaways/eat as much as you like buffets they are fairly priced. There is nothing on the menu that is too expensive and for the quality of the food you definitely get what you pay for.I think if you want value for money then you definitely cant go wrong with eating in....Just make sure you leave lots of room as you will leave very very full up.
The restaurant is located in Dartford town centre and there is a car park outside but its a very small one and its shared with other businesses. There are spaces very near by or if you cant park near then there is also prospect place car park which is about 5 minutes walk away and free parking for 2 hours during the day and also fee after 8pm i think...
Please go an enjoy my favourite restaurant and im sure once you do it will be yours too !!
I live locally to Bluewater and often find myself popping in there as the variety of shops is amazing !! I am a bit of a shop-a-holic oh who am i kidding i am very much a shop-a-holic !! what better place to spend some well earned pennies than in a nice big shopping centre right on my doorstep.
The centre is built in a old quarry site which has been developed beautifully so that it not only has a lovely shopping centre but also park land and lots of lakes where i often take my two little boys to feed the ducks. There are excellent parking facilities i believe the centre offers over 13,000 spaces which is excellent and the only time i have ever heard it to be too busy for people to park is the usual time of xmas sales !!
The centre is 10 years old this year and has seen lots of shops come and go inside but even when shops are either being replaced or have just gone bust this has no effect on your shooping experience. The centre is open from the following times
Mon-Fri 10 am - 9pm
Sat 9 am - 9pm
Sun 11am - 5pm
Although on a sunday quite a few offer the browsing time from 10.30am which is a excellent idea especially if you just want to get in and out in a hurry !!
Bluewater has a great variety of shops, some you will never have heard of before like Octopus and then the good old high street favourites like topshop, new look & next. There are 3 big department stores which are very large and offer a very big range. They are John Lewis which now has a food hall too, marks & spencer & House of fraser. The large department stores are excellent and have alot to offer they are like 3 individual shopping centres !!
There is a cinema within bluewater which is great for after your shopping and that cinema has 12 screens so i imagine most people will be able to find something suitable.Next to the cinema there is a bar which is quite small yet great to just grab a quick drink before or after your film.Really you could come to bluewater for a whole host of reasons and end up soending the whole day there....
The layout is very easy to work your way round and the facililties are impeccable.I have two children both of which go in a pushchair and one that wears nappies still so a baby friendly environment is very important to me.There are family toilets which are very clean and also very roomy giving mums a place to not only change nappies but also to breastfeed if you do not feel comfortable to do so in public. These family toilets are situated all around bluewater and in the food court there is a big baby changing & feeding section.
There are lots of places to eat in the centre ranging from sushi right down to macdonalds. There are places like nandos, pizza hut, spud u like, harry ramsdens, tgi fridays just to name a few...but basically you have everything froma sit down meal to a grab and run lunch. The foodcourt area is very spacious with lots of seating both inside and out.
There are childrens high chairs provided and lots of staff members around always making sure the areas are clean.
Bluewater itself is beautifully built and as you walk around you will notice the great amount of detail in the walls, ceilings etc and take in the atmosphere.I love shopping here as it has all the stores i like to go to and its a lovely clean shopping centre.
My only issue would be that there could be a primark here and then i would never need to cross over to lakeside ever again.
Lovely centre and lovely shopping experience especially at christmas which they make the whole centre so lovely i could go visit everyday this year they are making a winter wonderland with free santas grotto, christmas market and also a fun fair.Lots of fun for the whole family !!
visit www.bluewater.co.uk for more information on the centre
While out shopping on my day off in our local tesco extra i was looking in the toy section with my little ones when my eldest spotted this.He has been after one for the whole summer but at £25 i have never wanted to spend that much !! well the other day the lawnmower was reduced down to £12 so i thought why not !!
My son was very excited to get it home and trying to persuade him not to use it inside was tricky but i had checked the local weather and knew we were due a dry day tomorro so i managed to get him to hold out.
We got it out of the box and it looks fantastic, bright red & blue and very sturdy !! The bubble solution slots in very easily and stays secure until you want it back out again. My son is almost three and about average height for his age and he can use this with great ease.It states on the box that its suitable for over 2 year olds but my youngest son who has not long turned one also had a little push about.
The mower makes clicking noises as it goes along so not only do you get the bubbles there are sound effects too.The bubbles are great loads of them and some quite large ones too. From only using it for a short while we have found that the bubble solution runs out quite quick as after only 30 mins use we were already down to half.I luckily have loads of bubble solution around as we are always blowing bubbles out in the garden !!
My son is thrilled with it and i can see it being a new fave garden toy just a shame we bought it soo late in the year so he could have had lots more fun playtime but there is always next year....
I would definitely reccommend this toy to people out there as there is not a kid i know who doesnt enjoy bubbles and also great for imaginative play....
Currently priced at £12 in tescos....normally retailing at £25 (i saw it the same day in toys r us for the higher price)
Like all other parents out there i am always willing to try new products to see if they are any good. When i saw these nappies out i was curious as they are made by pampers i expected them to be good quality but yet from other mums i have not heard good things but i decided to try them anyway. The packaging for them is quite noticable on the shelf as its bright orange and still sporting the pampers logo. The nappies themselves are alot thinner than the other ranges that pampers do which is to be expected. They also do not feel as soft but being a more budget friendly option i expected these things. The actual test for me was going to be the asorbancy test.So on the nappy went.
My son is 1 year old now so doesnt actually seem to wet that much now days and he had the nappy on a good few hours before i needed to change him much like he wears other nappies. The nappy was not falling apart and no gel leakage like i have had with other brands when they have got too wet.I was quite impressed.I have only one negative point on these nappies and that is that secure straps on the nappy that secure it around the waist.I have had 2 packets of these and out of them i have had 10 where the strap has come right off as ive tried putting them on which hasnt exactly proved good for someone budgeting !!
I would buy them if i was really stuck but i think i will stick with either pampers baby dry or huggies.
The prices of the packs vary but do start at very reasonable prices.I bought mine out of boots and they were £3.99 a pack or two for £7.00 bit of a bargain i thought but after not even being able to use some of them its a bit of a false economy !!
My son was recently bought this as a gift for his 1st birthday and we are very pleased with it.The cookie jar is bright and colourful and plays lovely musical tunes and makes fun noises. It is ideal for very little hands. The jar is bright yellow & purple plastic. The jar has different shaped holes around the edge for the different shaped pieces to slot in.There are five different shapes (circle, heart, square, triangle & star) these are also all different colours which is great for teaching little ones the colours. There is also a lid on the top which comes on & off easily so the pieces can be stored inside when not being played with.
My son loves this toy already and is always bringing it over to me to play with him and even my elder son finds it enjoyable to play with. The toy has two different modes which are chosen by a simple switch on the front of the cookie jar.As with alot of toys it has a few songs that it plays but they are all very jolly and my little one sits and bops along with them.
The toy is made by fisher price which is a very reputable brand and is also on sale at the very reasonable price of £14.99 most places. Its suitable from 6 months to 36 months.I would definitely reccommend it as a toy for small children and one that will not annoy parents too much either !!
