I bought this nail varnish purely because of its low price of £1 in Superdrug. I love painting and doing different things with my nails so I often find myself buying some cheaper brands so I can build up a large collection of colours.
The bottle is clear so you can what colour the nail varnish is inside. Around the outside you can find the brand name and product details in silver, with a chrome effect screw on lid. The bottle does look quite up market but is rather small in comparison to other brands of nail varnish.
I bought three of these nail varnishes as part of Superdrug's 3 for 2 offer in this shade as well as shades 5 and 11. My favorite colour is shade 5 which is a soft pale green shade. The nail varnish goes on very smoothly and does not get clumpy. The brush is of standard size, allowing you to paint your nails in an average of three strokes. I find for the best colour you have to apply two coats as the colour is not very strong if you only apply one. The chip resistance is pretty good, a lot better than I thought it wold be, lasting about 3 or 4 days. I did not think the nail varnish would last as long as it does with the bottle being small, but it seems to be going on forever.
Overall I would definitely recommend this nail varnish it is great quality at a low price, could not asking anything else from the brand.
I love my false eyelashes and have always been a huge fan of Eylures eyelash range, but I though I would try a different brand as I have never really experimented with different false eyelash brands.
The Mac eyelashes come on a white piece of plastic with MAC written in back in the middle, these are then in a plastic pot packaging. I really liked the packaging it looked a lot more expensive than the other brands which are put in cardboard boxes.
I bought the eyelashes in number 30 which are the individual lashes, as I feel the individual ones are a lot more natural looking. I take the smaller lengths and apply them to the inside corner of my eye, then the middle length ones to the middle of my eye and finally the long ones to the end of my eye. They can be fiddly to apply if it is your first time using them, but with practice they get easier.
These eyelashes do have a down side though, they do not come with glue. I felt that they should have come with this as the eylure lashes are half the price and come with glue and remover. They do recommend a glue on their website, which I have not tried, but on all accounts it is very good. I personally buy the eylure individual lash glue as I really like their glue.
The lashes stay on very well and when applied look very natural. Overall I would recommend them but I do not think I will be buying them any time soon, as I fell they do not offer anything more than the eylure ones do and they charge you £10 without a glue, where as you can buy eyelure for about £5 with the added extras.
This is the third book in the shopaholic series and I have to say it is my favorite of the series. I loved every second of it.
Rebecca Bloomwood in previous books is known for being a financial journalist on TV, but after moving to New York with boyfriend Luke Brandon she now works in Barney's as a personal assistance, not sure a job in Barney's is going to help he shopping addiction though. Becky is having a fantastic time and things get even better when Luke proposes to her.
Things become even more perfect and like most women Becky already had her dream wedding in mind, but how will she cope when her mum and Luke's mum start interfering, and cannot see her big day turning out the way she had always dreamed it. There are also a few new characters in the book, which each bring a different sense of humor to the book as well as bringing back many favorite characters.
I love this book as you can completely understand how Becky feels when both mothers begin taking over her wedding. We all have that picture of how we want our wedding to be like, just like Becky. The story is not just a romantic novel but is very humorous the whole way through. I love all of Sophie Kinsellas books, especially the shopaholic series and this is definitely my favorite, the story line is great and kept me gripped the whole way through. It is a very easy, light hearted read, which i finished in a couple of days due to the fact i could not put it down. I would recommend if you have not started reading this series yet, start from the first book, you will be griped.
I bought this blusher as i am often using expensive products sometimes i need to test high street brands to make my bank balance happier.
This blusher comes in a black hinged palette with a clear plastic lid and brand name on the front in silver. I bought this blusher in mono pink rose as i was told this is the closest colour to a naturally healthy colour.
I use my mac blusher brush and stroke it over the palette, the blusher is a lot loser than ones i have previously used. so before i apply it to my checks i have to tap off the excess. I apply this product to the apples of my checks as that is where i find blusher looks most natural. I found with the product being so lose, i easily put far too much on my checks so you really do need a minimal amount of product. The colour is a very pretty soft pink rose colour which is perfect for me but if you prefer a slightly stronger colour you can build it up, just do not go to strong too quickly otherwise it can be too over powering.
The coulr lasts most of the day it, does fade and by the end of the day it is very faint, but im not too fused that it had faded by the time it had come to the end of the day as i would be taking it off soon, but if you are planning to go out afterwards it would need to be reapplied.
Overall i would recommend this product, it takes a couple of attempts to get the right amount of product on the brush for a natural colour but for £3.99 in superdrug i cannot complain at all.
I was recommended this book by a family friend, as i am aspiring to become a barrister as this is a story written by a barrister about her struggle to achieve her goal. I really enjoyed this book, it is completely different from the books i usually read, but it is definitely worth a read.
Constance is one of 6 siblings bought up by her mother Carmen and step father. Constance has to battle with daily beatings, punches and abuse. We see how miserable she is growing up and the effects this abuse had on her. There does not seem to be any reason why she is beaten in such a way other than the fact Carmen is just an unfit mother, not worthy of her children. I wont go into to too much detail as to the ins and outs of the beatings as i would not want to ruing the story but it does get very serious to the point where Constance tries to commit suicide by drink bleach as she is constantly told she is a "germ" and bleach kills germs.
The story does not go into too much detail about how she came to become a barrister, but the story is brilliant, it is very touching and provokes emotions so strongly in you, you just want to try and make everything better. I would definitely recommend giving this book a read it is a great story.
I bought this perfume after falling in love with one of Juicy Couture's other perfumes Viva La Juicy. I first smelt this perfume when I was going through Stanstard Airport and saw it in the Duty Free shop.
The perfume comes in a white box, with a gold boarder round the edge and two pink stripes down the middle. Juicy Coutures symbol can be found on the front in gold, along with the product and brand name in pink and black in the centre. The bottle is glass and is very heavy so feels very good quality. The lid for the bottle is a gold metal which is in the shape of Juicy Couture's logo, round the neck of the bottle there is half a pink zip, connected together with a gold J and "couture couture" charm.
I absolutely love the smell of it, it is a subtle sweet feminine smell but it is not too overpowering. The product details say it smells of " top notes of mandarin orange, grapefruit, and orange blossom; heart notes of jasmine, honeysuckle, and plum; and base notes of vanilla, sandalwood, and amber." I love the smell it is more professional than my other perfumes i have so i only use it on special occasions. The only reason i would say i personally use it for certain occasions is because all my other perfumes are very sweet and very girly, whereas this one for me is a lot more subtle, it still has the girly scent to it, but just not as strong.
The staying power is very good, it lasts all day, and everyone including my self can smell it all of the time, it does begin to fade but is always there, even to the point when the next day i go to put my clothes in the was i can still smell it.
I would definitely recommend this perfume for anyone who loves feminine scents, but likes to also have some subtle ones too, to cater for every occasion. I cannot fault it, i bought it when is was selling at £60 but having just quickly looking on amazon it is currently selling at £40.50 so i think it is brilliant value for money
After I read the first book in the series, The Secret Dreamworld of a Shopaholic, I fell in love with Sophie Kinsella's works, so i went ahead and bought the next book in the series.
This next installment in the series follows Becky Bloomwood's new career giving financial advise to the public on television. We also get to see her love life blossom with boyfriend Luke Brandon, when he asks Becky to move to New York with him. With her bank balance looking a lot healthier than in the previous book, we see how she tries to cope and move forward, but it not that easy when you are staying on New York surrounded by Tiffany's and sample sales.
Shopaholic Abroad is written in the same style as Kinsella's previous book, following Becky's life in a diary format, with added letters from her bank manager and shops. I really like these little personal touches it really allows you to connect with Sophie as you can really understand what she is going through.
I like the way the book is written as you build a connection with the character, especially coming straight from the other book, you see how she has changed and you see her grow into a mature person (kind of). The book is not too similar too the first, it has a similar under story, with her obsession with shopping but the main of it flourishes into its own, with many twists and turns in the story along the way.
This book is perfect for a holiday read or a day where you just want to relax, it makes you giggle and keeps you highly amused. I read the book very quickly in the space of two days but that just shows how i good the book is in the fact i did not want to put it down.
Overall i would definitely recommend this book, it is a great read. I think the best way to get everything out of this book is to start from the first one, you do not need to, but it does give you a better understanding of some of the characters carried over from the previous novel.
I cannot recommend this product enough, it really does work. I initially bought this product due to the amount of advertising the brand done for it and the amount of celebrities saying how they swore by it through their pregnancies. I am not a mum yet but hopefully will be one day so I cannot comment on its effectiveness with stretch marks on stomachs. I did and still do occasionally suffer from a weak form of acne on my back and shoulders, and have a few annoying stretch marks on my legs. I went to the doctors regarding my acne as through my eyes i thought it was terrible and made me very self conscious, yet the doctors would not give me anything for it as for them it was not bad. Anyway it has left me with some horrible scars on my back and shoulders, which really knocks my confidence as i like to wear backless dresses but i do not like the look of the scaring, o when I heard this works on scars I was willing to give anything a try.
The bio oil itself is an orangey colour which comes in a clear plastic bottle with the brand name on the front. This then comes in a cardboard box where inside you can find instructions on how to use it. The instructions have pictures which you follow depending on what you want to use it for, as for each one you have to massage the oil in in a certain way. The oil does not have much of a smell and you really do only need a small amount as it spreads out amazingly. You have to rub it in for quite a few seconds as you have to make sure it has all been absorbed into your skin.
I have definitely noticed improvements on the scaring front, they are definitely getting a better colour and looking a lot more natural. It does take a few weeks before you notice any really changes but it is worth the persistence. As i previously mentioned i also suffer from a few small stretch marks and like wise after a few weeks i can begin to see them fading. Not only does it fade scaring but it keeps your body incredibly hydrating, keeping you smooth for most of the day, and it does not go oily like moisturizers do.
I also have oily skin and a few days ago i read in a magazine that skin producers more oils than it needs to because there are not enough going into your skin, and they recommended applying moisturiser. I thought this was strange as why would you want to apply more oils to already oily skin, but i was willing to give it a try. I took this bio oil and also applied it to my face, and funny enough after a few days i noticed a huge difference in my skin, it was less oily, a lot firmer and dark circles were gone under my eyes! I was ecstatic.
Overall i would definitely recommend this product, the results are a bit slower with scars and stretch marks, but you can see them changing, whilst getting rid of oily skin, and dark circles is very quick, i noticed a difference in two days. Its amazing. I recommend you try it no matter which one of the above problems you have it will work, and it is only £5.99! I could not ask for anymore i am very very happy.
I was bought this blusher as a birthday present last year from a friend, and i am pleased she did. This is the first time I have ever tried a product by Bourjois so I was not quite sure what to expect.
The bronzer is in a palette form held in a flip cardboard packaging, which when closed is held together by a magnet. The bronzer looks like it is set in little chocolate cubes. The outside of the box is a golden brown colour where you can find the brand name and product details. The first thing i noticed when I opened the lid was the chocolate smell that wafted out of the packaging, I suppose I should have expected it see how the packaging was set around a chocolate design, but I did not expect it to smell at all. The smell is not too over powering, it does smell a little bit sickly from the packaging, but that is because that is where the product is concentrated, but when you apply it to your skin the smell is very subtle with just a hint of chocolate.
When I began to apply the bronzer and found it had a slight shimmer to it. I personally do not mind shimmer in my products it is very fine and only noticeable when out in the sunlight, but if you do not like products with shimmer, keep in mind this has some. I take my blush brush and very gently sweep it over the powder, the product is not very lose but it is very pigmented so you do not need much of the product at all. I like to apply bronzer only as a contourer so i find it best to apply this to make my check bones more prominent and then slim down my nose and jaw line if i am going out for the evening. The colour of the product is very natural and gives your face a very nice glow, not making you too orange.
Overall I would definitely recommend this product, i like the smell, it lasts all day and shimmer in it really makes your face light up. For the price of £6.99 i think it is great value for money.
I bought this brush as at the moment I am going through a phase where I love to wear the winged eyeliner look, and after first buying the Maybelline Gel Eyeliner which I loved, I then moved onto using the Mac Gel eyeliner, I bought the Maybelline one first as it has a slightly lower price tag and I wanted to see if gel eyeliner was worth all the fuss and it really was. The Maybelline liner comes with a brush which I was pretty pleased with as after I bought the mac eyeliner I found out it does not come with a brush. After a short while of using the Maybelline brush I began to get a little frustrated as the brush is rather thick and blunt on the end to my flick on the end on my liner was not thin and elegant, rather thick and stumpy so I decided it was time to invest in a new brush.
The Mac 209 eyeliner brush has a black thin handle with the brand name in silver writing on the brush. The tip is longer than the Maybelline brush and has a much nicer point to the end. I find this brush works best with not too much product on the brush and too much can cause the brush to clog and then the line will not look as fluid and effortless as you would like.
When I apply my eyeliner I find the brush works best when I start in the middle of my eyelid bringing the brush up slowly to meet the crease of my eye. The best way I have found to check that the angle of the flick is most natural is to use the handle end of the brush and it along your bottom lash line, then begin the to move it slowly anti-clockwise until you reach the crease of your eye, when you reach that position draw a small dot on the crease. The take the half line you have drawn and bring it up to meet the dot, going over it as many times as you like, depending on how thick you want the line. I then take my brush to the corner of my eye and draw the rest of the line back up to reach the centre, where you began your first line. The thinness of this brush is perfect for doing this as you can afford to make small jog marks as you easily make the line that little bit thicker, and it was cause too much of a difference.
Overall I would definitely recommend this brush as it is very nice thickness and if you keep the brush clean and keep the bristles covered to prevent the end getting bent, it will last you a very long time.
I bought the O.P.I gel nail varnishes, as i love the brand, and was very intrigued by the idea of a gel nail varnish, hoping it would last longer than a standard nail varnish. I am pleased to say this nail varnish does exactly what it offers.
The nail varnish comes in a black glass pot, that is a little bit annoying as you cannot see the nail varnish inside, not enabling you to see how much of the nail varnish is left. The screw on lid is quite long and is the same colour as the nail varnish so you can see what colour you are buying. The lid is a slightly different shade, its not completely different but the shade is a little bit darker than you would expect, I really think this nail varnish would be better with a glass pot.
I bought the nail varnish in strawberry margarita, which is a barbie pink, but it is sold in lots of different colours, all of which can be found on the brands website. When i first bought this nail varnish I only bought the nail varnish itself. I got it home and found out to that to have full gel effect that lasts a couple of weeks you need to purchase the base and top coat to accompany it. I was a little bit disappointed as I was not guided properly in this purchase, but I got it sorted in the end. When I finally had all the right coats I took to my nails. I stated with the base coat and then went onto the nail colour. The pink nail varnish is a lovely colour it is very bright, it pops and is a lovely girly shade. The brush itself is a good size, very average, enabling you to paint your nails in two to three strokes. The consistency of the nail varnish is great, quite thick but not too thick to the point where is is hard to apply. I let the nail varnish dry and then went on to apply the top coat.
Once I had applied all the different coats of nail varnish i was very impressed with the quality. It looked slightly thicker than your standard nail varnish but it contributes to the salon look, it is also lovely and shiny and slightly harder too. The aspect I was most impressed with the quality of the non chip. I have this problem where i have to pick my nail varnish off, no matter the amount of time I have spent applying it I will always pick it off, but I tried with this one and it was not coming off, so I was very happy, it took a good week before i began to see small chips in my nail varnish.
Overall I would definitely recommend this nail varnish it is perfect and I cannot fault it. It is quite expensive though the top and base coat is bought in a set on Amazon for £38.40 then you have to buy the colour for £24.00, so when combined it is very pricey, but the way I look it I would spend this much on three sets of gel nails, and you will get much more than three applications from this nail varnish.
Unfortunately thanks to the amount of different products I use on my eyelashes I have began to see them getting very weak and falling out very easily, so I when I recently saw this product advertising I just had to try it, especially when I learned it is by one of my favorite brands.
The mascara comes in a green and silver tube with the brand name and product information on the bottom section of the tube. The tube has a screw on lid which when undone reals the wand. The brush its self is fairly large, which i like as you can get to all of your lashes at once, not having to work your way round in small sections. The mascara comes in two colours; black and brown. After recently picking up one of Revlon's other mascaras in brown by accident, I have realised how much i prefer brown mascaras, so like wise i bought this one in brown too.
I take the wand out of the tube and begin apply a coat to my lashes. I like to apply two coats of mascara for a day look and then apply false eyelashes and add mascara for a more dramatic evening look. The first coat goes on very smooth and thanks to the large brush i did not see any clumping happening to my lashes. I let it dry before i apply me next coat. Once completely dry i add another layer of mascara and can continue to see the mascara working. My eyelashes are definitely much longer and thicker and with the mascara being brown, they look very natural. The first time i tried this mascara i id not use my eyelash curlers as i like to see the full affect of mascaras, but i have found, that this mascara does not offer much curve, but more length and weight, so to achieve the best of both i curl my lashes and then apply the mascara on top. The combination of the two makes the eyelashes look really long and pretty.
Whilst wearing the mascara i found that is did not melt very easily, leaving the black smudge marks around the eyes, so i was very pleased with that as i hate it when i check in the mirror and i look like a panda, its never a good look. I checked my lashes through out the day and they did begin to drop but never to the extent where it looks like you are wearing no mascara, so if you have time in your day you can reapply one coat of mascara around mid day to keep them in place but if you do not have the time then it does not matter as the lashes still have brilliant length.
I have not had my mascara long enough to stay whether is is strengthening my lashes yet, as i am sure it does not work over the period of a couple of days, so i will come back in a weeks time or so to say how i have found the lash treatment, i have high hopes so hopefully it works.
Overall i would definitely recommend this mascara as it greats incredible lengths and weight to the lashes, the brush is a great size so reaches even the smallest eyelashes, and all for £9.99. I think this is pretty good value even if the lash treatment does not work, but fingers crossed my eyelashes are getting stronger by the day.
I am a huge fan of Revlon products and I am very faithful towards the brand and this lipstick once again has not let me down.
The lipstick comes in a black and silver twistable tube with a black lid. The brand name can be found on the tube in black writing, with the product details on the base. I bought this lipstick in shade stormy pink, as I love to have a pink lip. I have found that red lipstick draws to much attention to my teeth which i am not very comfortable with, where as shades of pink, focuses attention else where whilst making your teeth look a shade whiter. The lipstick is also sold in a variety of other colour I had initially planned to use this lipstick for evening events, but when I applied it, I found the colour was a lot more subtle than I thought it would appear, so i changed my mind and opted to wearing it for the day instead.
When I applied the lipstick I found the texture was very smooth and left my lips feeling very soft. The could is very nice, it is a soft pink. I was not sure if I would like the matte effect as I usually opt for something more shiny, but i actually really liked it. It looks very natural and finishes your whole make up off to look effortless. On average the lipstick lasts quite a while, the colour does fade a little bit through out the day and will need reapplying after you have eaten a meal or drunk something, like most lipsticks. If you wear it without eating or drinking something it lasts till the afternoon.
Overall I would definitely recommend this lipstick as I think the colour is lovely, it lasts quite a long time and is of a reasonable price of £7.49
This is by far one of my favorite lip glosses. I was looking for a natural nude tone, which i could wear on its own during the day and to sweep over lipstick at night to make my lips very glossy, and this works perfectly.
The lip gloss comes in a plastic tube with a black screw on lid, the brand name and product details are around the tube in silver writing. I bought the lip gloss in the shade Paparazzi, which is a nude colour with a slight shimmer in it; the thin shimmer not the clumpy glitter effect, but it is sold in a lot more colours.
During the day I like to wear this lip gloss on its own as the colour is very natural but the glitter has a nice shimmer girly effect creating a lovely day time look. For night I like to wear a bright pink lipstick with this on top as it slightly tones down the colour whilst adding a gloss and shimmer, really making your lips pop.
I like the texture of this lip gloss, it goes on very smoothly hydrating your lips and keeping them very smooth. The gloss is also a nice texture not leaving a sticky residue on your lips which really gets on my nerves as my hair is always getting stuck in it. The gloss wears off after about 2 hours, but even once that has gone you can still feel it hydrating your lips as they are still very smooth. I do like to apply a thin layer of lip balm underneath it as if your lips are slightly chapped, the gloss emphasizes this, so its better allowing your lips to be over hydrated than under hydrated not leaving your lips looking as smooth as you would like.
Overall i would definitely recommend this lip gloss, it has a nice shine, the glitter is not too overpowering and it is not sticky, everything i look for in a lip gloss, and it is only £4.99. I love it.
I bought this foundation as I was drawn in by the 24 hour length it advertises but I was sadly disappointed when I went to use it.
The foundation comes in a glass bottle with a white pump on the top and clear plastic lid. The brand name and product information can be found around the bottle in pink, black and silver writing. The liquid foundation is a quite nice consistency not too thick and not too runny, so it quite easy to apply.
I squirt two and a bit squirts of foundation onto my hand and dip my brush into the foundation. I have found a brush works best for this foundation as it needs quite a bit of blending to make it look even, I once used my fingers to spread it around my face but it left orange streaks looking very un-natural. I draw five lines on my face; one on my forehead, one on each cheek, one down the bridge of my nose and one on my chin. I find using this amount of foundation works best for creating a natural look as this amount spreads perfectly any more you run the risk of looking furry. I use my brush and blend the foundation round my face in circular motions. The foundation goes on quite smoothly and blends quite well, it does take some time though as it needs to be really spread out the get a flawless finish.
I found this foundation did leave a nice finish, it was very smooth and has good coverage, but it is the 24 hour length I have a problem with, it did not even last half the length of time. I check my foundation a couple of hours later and it had turned orange and patchy, I was not impressed out all. I had to take it off and re-apply it as I refused to walk around looking orange. I was very disappointed as I was hoping to find a foundation that last a very long period of time.
Overall I would not recommend this foundation, yes it goes on nicely and looks nice straight after application, but no one has the time to be re-applying their whole make up every few hours, after all it is not like lipstick where you can just re do that section, your whole face will need to be done. I was very disappointed and will not be buying this foundation again, as it certainly was not worth the £9.97 price tag.
