I tried Clairol Hydrience in shade Island Spice (Medium Mahogany Brown). My first impressions were good - it was easy to apply, with no drips or messiness (although it was very smelly - make sure you open a window so you don't gas yourself with the fumes). Once I'd applied the dye, I piled my hair up on top of my head, and it stayed there for the whole time - so no dyed neck, ears, face etc! I left the dye for the maxiumum permissable time (45 mins) before washing it out as my hair is dark and I wanted the maximum lightening effect. The conditioner that came in the packet was not as effective as any of the others I've tried - most post-dye conditioners leave your hair feeling really soft and silky, but this left my hair feeling just normal. The main problem with this dye is the colour - I would agree with the description on the box of "medium mahogany brown", as it turned a dark reddish brown colour. However, the picture on the front of the box clearly showed a bright orange colour, which this dye definitely was not. I don't mind too much, as I think this colour is actually nicer than the orange, but the box is VERY misleading. The smelliness of the dye stayed in my hair until I next washed it, which wasn't very pleasant. On the plus side, there was very little colour loss when I did wash my hair. Overall, I found the dye good, although the conditioner left something to be desired. However, be VERY careful when choosing a shade, as you may not end up with the colour you were expecting!
I would be lost without my epilator. Once I started using it, I would never go back to shaving. The rotating discs pluck out the hairs, so regrowth is much finer, slower and less noticeable. This is the most effective method of hair removal I have ever found. Okay, so yes, it is a little painful, but no more so than waxing, and like waxing, the more you do it, the less painful it gets. There are ways to reduce the pain, too - hold the skin so that it is taut before epilating, and the pain is hugely reduced. This is especially noticeable in sensitive places. I use my epilator on my legs, underarms and bikini line. The bikini line is fairly painful, but *so* worth it - to be able to go on holiday for a week and not have to worry about your bikini line at all is brilliant! I have used it for a couple of years now, and, with regular use, the hairs grow back much much more slowly, and are far less noticeable. I would recommend this product to anyone who is not too squeamish about self-inflicted pain! If you have the guts to do it, it's really not bad once you get used to it - I barely notice the discomfort these days. And it really is worth it to not have prickly leg stubble and have to shave it off at least once a day...
I bought the WebCam Go! because of its dual-purpose nature - plug it in and it's a webcam; unplug it and it's a digital camera. As a webcam, it is more than satisfactory - I don't have any complaints at all. The software it is packaged with is intuitive and easy to operate. Having said this, if you *only* want a webcam, I would recommend you buy a different one, as the Go! is much more expensive than its webcam-only rivals. The beauty of this camera is that you can unplug it and take photos as though it was a digital camera. The 2xAAA batteries last for approx. 300 photos, and the camera will store up to 96 photos at a time. The maximum camera resolution is 640x480, which is adequate, but not great. The downsides I have found when using it as a camera are that the viewfinder is separate from the lens, so you have to guess whether you have focussed the picture correctly. It can be frustrating to connect it back up to the PC and then find that half your pictures are out of focus. Also, as it doesn't have a flash, the camera works best in bright daylight and can produce poor quality pictures in moderate to dim light. Overall, it is pretty good for what it is. It functions well as a webcam and adequately as a digital camera. If you just want a webcam, buy a dedicated webcam (it will be cheaper); if you just want a digital camera, this one is reasonably priced, but the lack of focussing and flash features may dissuade you. However, if you are after both webcam and camera, this is a pretty good multi-purpose solution.
Hamsters make ideal pets for children, people with small living spaces, and anyone else who likes animals. They are easily tamed and do not require too much money or effort to keep, but they provide so much entertainment and affection. A hamster will require a cage with a wheel, food bowl and water bottle, and a house to sleep in. Once these have been bought, it costs very little to keep the hamster in food and bedding. Buying a ball for your hamster will let him run around your floor for hours (very cute!) without you having to worry that he'll get trapped behind the furniture. Syrian hamsters (the normal kind of hamster) are nocturnal. This means they usually sleep in the day, and will wake up when you get home in the evening - perfect timing! They are also solitary, so one hamster will live happily by himself, without getting lonely. This also reduces the chance of getting hundreds of hamster babies! I have kept 2 hamsters before. They have both been really tame and each had their own cute little tricks and quirks. I would recommend getting a hamster to anyone who wants a pet but does not have the time or space for a dog or cat. Although they only live for a couple of years, they really do brighten up your life with their adorable personalities and being so cute, soft and furry.
I tried Secret deodorant when I first saw the TV advert for it. I was sceptical at first - I've always used a spray deodorant, as roll-ons take so long to dry and tend to leave marks on clothes. Secret was easy to use - you turn the dial by 2 clicks, and a measured amount of cream comes out, so you always use the right amount. I've found that using one click is also quite useful if you want to "top-up" the deodorant before you go out at night or whatever. The cream dries quickly, and does not mark clothes at all, provided you make sure you rub it in *completely* before you put your clothes on. I found it very easy and convenient to use. Most importantly, this is the most effective deodorant I have ever used! It keeps me dry and sweet-smelling all day, even when it's really hot. I cannot recommend this too highly - I have found this deodorant to be amazingly effective.
I was a customer of screaming.net until it was taken over by WorldOnline. I think their 24/7 unlimited freetime deal is good value for money at only £6 above the usual phone line rental - it is certainly much cheaper than many other ISPs for high internet usage, especially at peak rate. However, it wouldn't be of much use to me as I am rarely in the house between 8am and 6pm. WorldOnline gave the option of sticking with the old screaming.net deal of unlimited off-peak usage for the cost of the phone line, which is perfect for my situation. I have found the ISP to be pretty good. I used to have to try to connect a few times before I could get through, but these days I can usually connect first time, with no problems. The service seems stable and I have no major complaints, although free webspace would be nice :>
Apart from a couple of games of Civilisation 2, I'd never played a game like this before, so I wasn't sure what to expect. I got instantly hooked as I started playing, although I didn't really know what I was doing. I spent several hours at a time playing the game, wondering when the really exciting events were going to happen. I always seemed just on the brink of a fabulous discovery that would help enormously... I found the advanced options fairly difficult to figure out, and the manual, despite its huge size, was no help whatsoever. Whenever I had a problem or query, I couldn't find anything of any relevance anywhere in the manual. I stuck with the game, and eventually came to the end, but I was left with the feeling that I'd missed out on something great, but wasn't quite sure what it was. With better instructions, I feel that the game could have been a lot more enjoyable; as it is, I'm reluctant to go back and attempt it again, given the length of time it took to complete my first game.
I have tried several of the darker red/brown shades, and found they made little or no difference to my hair. To be fair, my hair is fairly dark, but the instructions claimed it would work with my colour hair, which it didn't. In bright sunlight you can sometimes tell the diefference, but that's about it. On the plus side, it did leave my hair feeling beautifully conditioned, and I'm sure it would be great for anyone with light to medium coloured hair.
