      water!

I drink a large amount of water at the moment and was intrigued when I saw the Volvic adverts about joining the Volvic challenge where you drink 1.5 litres of water every day for 14 days.

So off I went to Tesco and purchased a number of Volvic 1.5 litre bottles at the price of £1 each. Like most bottled water it comes in a clear plastic bottle and has a green label on it which also advertises the Volvic 14 day challenge. The label also states that it is natural mineral water and that it has been filtered through layers of volcanic rock acquiring a unique mineral composition. I thought that this last comment must be the reason for the 14 day challenge as nowhere could I find out what the 14 day challenge was actually supposed to do.

Upon unscrewing the bottle a tasted a crisp natural water that tasted very pure compared to some of the other waters I have tried. I was pleased with the quality of it, but just don't expect it to have an amazing flavour as it is water and there is none; however you can really taste the quality of the water.

So 14 days passed and to be honest I didn't feel any different. After doing some more extensive research on the internet I found out that the idea is to just drink that much water for 14 days, it doesn't matter which brand you use, so even tap water is fine. I found this really clever marketing by Volvic. I didn't feel any different as I have already been drinking this much water for around two months, but when I started doing it (originally on tap water) I did notice a difference so I would recommend trying drinking 1.5 litres of water for 14 days. I feel more alert and attentive.

The bottle states that it is to be used only for the use of Volvic natural mineral water and not to refill it. I find this very strange from such a large company, they should be encouraging people to re-use their bottles just like many companies do with their plastic bags.

I would advise drinking Volvic water fresh out the fridge as it tastes more refreshing this way.

        Great online website

ASOS is an online shopping website. I heard about ASOS about five years ago when my friend was shopping off it all the time. I didn't take much notice of it then though. I have since found out that ASOS stands for As Seen On Screen and then I headed straight over. This meant that the clothes sold by ASOS were meant to resemble clothes worn by celebrities that were very expensive, however these were cheap.

Since starting up ASOS have now began to sell branded clothing.

When I headed over to the site I found it extremely easy to navigate, when you search for items there are various different fields to narrow things down to, so for example you can search for hoodies and then you can narrow it down to your particular size and then narrow it down to brands. I found this really useful because more often than enough I find a shirt I like and go to buy it only to find they don't have my size. This way I can search just my size and only see what is available to me.

The prices on ASOS are also very very good. I am a huge fan of All Saints but the prices are so expensive I can't always afford to shop there. From ASOS I have managed to get some clothes that look like they are from All Saints for only a fraction of the price!

There are many different forms of delivery, the standard free delivery takes about 5 working days but the more you spend on the website the better type of delivery you are able to get for free. You can of course pay extra for next day delivery.

The items come well packaged and also sent with the items are a slip to fill in should you want to send any of the items back and a postage label so you don't have to pay for it. I had to send one top back as it was too small so I did this and got my replacement item sent to me within a week of me first sending the item. I thought this was excellent.

I will now be shopping on ASOS at every opportunity I get and would strongly recommend it especially if you need some new clothes for your upcoming holiday or for that festival you are going to

great website to catch up with the news

I don't often read newspapers but do read a large amount of news every single day. I do this by using the daily mail website (known as the mail online).

The website has a good layout that is easy to navigate through. The main news stories are at the top of the page and then as you scroll down there is a box on the left hand side with other stories. On the right hand side are pictures with a short summary of a story but these tend to be lighter stories such as celebrity gossip.

If you keep scrolling down you can get news stories from all over the world, these tend to be quite large stories in those countries but not so large in England. Below that there is a weird and strange section with random stories that can be quite entertaining and then finally the sport section right at the bottom.

I find the writing to be of a very good quality on the website, it isn't very challenging yet at the same time it isn't too simple. It has just the right blend. At the bottom of each article you can submit comments on what is said in the article and then people can click an up or down arrow to say whether you like their comment (up) or dislike it (down). This can be quite fun but from time to time you do see the odd comment on there which overreacts to someones comments and is quite rude to them. This in itself can be quite entertaining to see how passionate people get about certain issues!

The pictures on the website are also of a good quality but more often than enough they have one main picture that is very relevant and the further down the article you get the pictures become less relevant but the use of frequent pictures makes the articles easier to read as it isn't just large bits of text.

I often read news on here and then hear about it in the news on TV the following day or a good few hours later. It shows that the daily mail is very quick with getting news uploaded and is one of the first to report it.

It's much cheaper than the paper version (as it is free) so why not give it a try and see how you like it! Much recommended!

            Great face wash

I am very prone to oily skin and therefore get many spots and blemishes from time to time so I have tried so many different face washes on the market.

I have found the clean and clear products to be of the better ones that I have tried. I originally used the exfoliating scrub wash but then one day when away with work I had forgotten my face wash so I borrowed some from a colleague. It was the cream wash by clean and clear.

After using it I instantly felt a tingling sensation on my entire face. Some people won't like this feeling, but for me it felt like my face had been cleaned properly and the feeling was a good one. My face looks visably cleaner and fresher. I was very impressed with the results and went to buy my own the next day.

I have now been using this face wash for around a year and get it from Boots for £2.31. Recently I have noticed that Boots only seem to sell the version for sensitive skin (in the three Boots stores I have tried in the Manchester area). This version doesn't leave me with the same clean and tingly feeling that I get with the original version and I feel that my face gets very oily quicker when using this one, but it is still better than other versions I have used.

You only need a small bit of cream on your face too, it spreads quite well on your face. This is good because it means that it lasts for a long time and you don't have to keep going to the shop to buy more.

I won't describe what it looks like as there is a picture above, but the cream itself looks a bit like moisturiser instead of soap looking like other face washes. If there is only the sensitive version in the shops the bottle will be the same shape but will have lighter blues and purples with white on it.

            Sensitive version 4 dooyoo stars
            Normal version 5 dooyoo stars

For the purpose of this review I have gone with the 5 stars as nowhere in the description does it mention the sensitive skin version.

            Advantages

            Disadvantages

            Good correction fluid

So you are doing your 20,000 word hand written dissertation and you have made a mistake right in the middle of it, what do you do? Well you probably cross it out and carry on, but you can of course use Tipp-ex.

Tipp-ex is a product that is becoming very dated now as we do so much of our writing on computers, but saying that I do keep a bottle on my desk at work for those times when I need to correct a slight mistake here and there.

Now Tipp-ex is white so that it matches the colour of your page but more often than enough it is a different shade of white and stands out even more than your mistake would have done. We also now use much coloured paper, so this makes it even worse!

I often used Tipp-ex during school coursework assignments before everything had to be submitted electronically. This then developed the problem of it being banned in my school and is also currently banned from use in most exams including professional exams, I am not quite sure of the reason for this though.

I really like the idea of Tipp-ex. It comes in a small pot and when you unscrew the lid it had a dip stick attached to it, a bit like the one in your car to check the oil but this stick has a small brush attached to the end of it. In the pot is a white liquid and the brush soaks some of this up. Normally it takes on too much and if you were to put it straight onto your page it could leave a bit of a puddle, so I would recommend wiping the brush on the tip of the bit it comes out from to remove excess liquid. The pots come in 20ml sizes and I tend to only need one for about every two years. You can also buy bottles that have a triangular sponge on the end, this allows for easier spreading and extra coverage.

Once applied to the page Tipp-ex dries very quickly, but you can always blow on it to help it dry that bit quicker and can be easily written over providing you are using a ball point pen. Other pens seem to struggle such as fountain pens as the ink is too thick on them and can't soak into the page like the normally do.

I have also found that Tipp-ex is useful for marking my stationary in the office. We have someone who likes to borrow things and not return them so I can write my name on my ruler using Tipp-ex to make everyone know it is mine. This isn't what Tipp-ex is intended for but it can be used for this!

You can buy Tipp-ex in most stationary shops or for £1.61 on amazon according to the link on the right! It typically sells for around the £1.50 mark in shops.

I would recommend getting a bottle of Tipp-ex if you work in an office, are a student or generally have to write a lot of things. I would also recommend it to mark your property with your name!

              great whey protein formula

Maximuscle Promax is a whey protein powder that mixes into water to make a milkshake.

It is available in Banana, Caffe Latte, Mint chocolate, chocolate, cookies and cream, orange, strawberry, vanilla and promax natural. I think that it is good that it is available in so many flavours as it caters for lots of different tastes. Saying that though the taste isn't so great at first as it still tastes very powdery, but you get used to it very quickly and then you soon start to think it tastes very nice. I am currently using the banana one and it is my favourite out of all the ones I have tried (tried strawberry, chocolate and vanilla).

You can of course add something to it like cordial to the natural one but this has lots of sugar in it so doesn't go with any low carb diet as the sugar is kept in your system longer, but of course you don't have to be on a low carb diet to take this at the moment, it just happens to be one that I am on at the moment. It also has just 2g of carbs and 2g of fat per serving, so isn't just good for low carb diets but also for low fat diets.

This contains pure high-protein nutrition and is perfect for supporting lean muscle and recovery, whether your goal is size & strength, sports performance or getting lean. I have one mid morning (between breakfast and lunch) and one for supper along with some turkey. One good thing about Promax is that it is digested quickly, so an ideal time to take it would be after finishing exercise to aid muscle recovery.

The directions state that you should "Mix with 200ml of cold water in a Maximuscle shaker. " Of course you don't have to use a maximuscle shaker and can infact use any shaker! One serving to mix is 30g and you get a scoop in the tub in order to measure it out easily. Simply mix together and shake and then it is ready to drink. Its is also virtually lactose free and therefore suitable for people with lactose intolerance when mixed with water. This is especially good for those of you who like milkshake but are unable to drink it!

I'll have to say that as Maximuscle is one of the main brands on the market they do have prices to match, it is £33.99 for 908g which is 30 servings. You can get discount if you buy more though, the cheapest being £108.77 for 4, making it £27.20 each. I would recommend getting it from the nutritional shop GNC as they have a gold card offer (membership card) for £5. When you have a gold card you can use it to get this product for £27.99 so you can get big discount and only have to buy one at a time.

I have been using this product for a while and have definately noticed an improvement in my lifting gains and also in my muscle looking more defined so would recommend it for those of you who can afford it.

                Disadvantages

                Good loyalty card from Tesco

I have had a Tesco club card for a number of years now but I have only recently really started to use it fully. It is easy to get one, just pick up a form in store or apply on the website. If you do it instore you get a temporary card to use straight away and then get sent your proper card in the post.

I have a normal card the size of a credit card and also have a smaller one that I have attached to my car keys. This is really handy as I often forget my card but always have my car keys with me.

Tesco clubcard gives you one point for every pound that you spend in Tesco, although this is low compared to Boots who offer 4 points to every pound you generally spend more at Tesco if you do your weekly shopping there. Each point equates to a penny, so if you spend £50 in store you get 50 points, which is 50p. These points build up over three months and then you are sent a statement in the post which gives you your money in vouchers. I would rather you had the choice when to cash in your vouchers though as sometimes I only have around £2 of vouchers and find it pointless but if you could build it up then I would probably build it up to around £50.

Your name and clubcard number are printed on the vouchers, this stops people from selling the vouchers online like they do with other vouchers. I think this is a good idea, but it would be easier if you could just pay with your clubcard instead of needing vouchers.

You can also increase the value of your clubcard points if you choose what you are going to spend it on. For example if you go online and choose to use your points on clothes at Tesco and have 250 points they will make it 1000 points. You can also use it towards things such as holidays! This is a really good idea and it encourages you to visit their website which then in turn makes you spend more money on there, but so far I haven't done this as I just spend the vouchers I get in store.

Tesco frequently have offers on such as double points and when you get your statement in the post there tends to be extra offer vouchers such as "25 extra points when you spend £1 or more on sweets." These all help to build up your total at a quicker rate but is usually so that they boost sales in a particular department.

You can also collect points when you get petrol. I have found that Tesco is one of the cheaper petrol stations so this is an added bonus that you get points too.

I am all for the clubcard and think it is a great idea, apart from a few minor things I can't see anything wrong with it and if you forget to take your card you can take your receipt to the customer services desk the next time you visit and they will put your points on your card for you.

                  Advantages

                  Disadvantages

                  Good for clearing skin temporarily

I have very oily skin and have tried numerous different things throughout the years. These oil absorbing sheets from clean and clear were suggested to me so I thought I would try them out.

They come in packs of 50 and basically look like sheets of tracing paper, they are a bit like sugar paper really and have a slight chalky feel to them. They claim to remove excess oil and eliminate shine and do this without smudging make-up or leaving any visable trace of powder behind.

After using the sheets I agree that it does what it suggests it will, but the effects are only short lived. My face is oil free for around 45 minutes to an hour before I need to use the sheets again. I also have to use two sheets and sometimes even three when I am using them, one certainly isn't enough as they are only very small and when you wipe them on your face you can see the oil on the sheets making them look a bit transparent. They also break quite easily as they are so thin. I have found that if you wipe the sheet on your face they break easier than if you blot them but I have also found that this method leaves white powder marks on my face and it claimed it didn't do this, so I was disappointed about that.

I now keep them on my desk in my office and use them occasionally. They could be handy if you are having your picture taken somewhere and to use them just before having the picture.

The product is suitable for all skin types and costs around £2.99 in Boots. They also contain tee tree oil in your face so are said to help you from getting spots and blemishes.

If you have oily skin they aren't a long term fix for this but can come in handy when you need to have dryer/less oily looking skin for short periods of time. So I am happy to use them for basic use but if I was using them all the time it would work out very costly and would start becomming a hassle to use.

                    Great water

I have recently started a new diet and included in it is the drinking of water instead of fizzy drinks or other juices. I have never really been a fan of water and I have always wondered why there are so many types of bottled water as I think water tastes plain and is the same everywhere.

After two weeks on water I have began to realise that water is different dependant on where it comes from. This water is bottled by Britvic and is bottled at source in Huddersfield. Also from the same source is the brand Pennine Spring also by Britvic yet they taste totally different, which I found most parculiar as they are not only from the same company but comes from the same source too!

I find that Drench is one of the best brands of water I have tried. The taste is more crisp and fresh, I find it tasting very pure and free of chemicals (that you can sometimes taste in tap water).

You can buy Drench in four differerent sizes, they have 2L, 1.5L. 750ml and 500ml. The 750ml version sells for 61p in Tesco and this is the one I buy the most as it has a sports cap on it so is easy to drink whereas the others all have a screw cap which can be annoying taking it off and putting it on if you are drinking from it frequently.

It is a relatively new brand of water and you may remember the adverts where Brain from Thunderbirds dances and then drinks water and dances better, saying the slogan "Brains perform best when they're hydrated" after it. It was a very popular advert at the time and raised the profile of Drench huge amounts.

The bottle that water comes in is nothing special with regards to shape and colour, most bottles of water are pretty standard and you can see through it just like all the others. I think the prices for them are very reasonable and will continue to buy Drench for its fresh, crisp, hydrating taste.

                      Great gym worth checking out

Total fitness in Warrington is close to the Halliwell Jones Rugby Stadium, and there is a large car park outside so you are never left looking for a space for a long time unlike the other Total Fitness I use.

It is one of the newer Total Fitness centres so the quality of the equipment in there is very good and the set up is excellent. It is set up over two floors and there is a running track upstairs around all the equipment, this is good for those who don't like running on treadmills and is also quite useful for interval training, just make sure you look when crossing over it! The equipment is also well spaced out so you are not all crampt and there is a large variety of machines and weights so even in peak times you aren't left waiting for long, if at all.

Like most total fitness centres it has a 25 metre swimming pool, a small kids pool with slide, a hydrotherapy pool, a sauna and a steam room. These areas are well maintained and very clean. I have never been there and experienced any problems with any of these.

The centre also offers a vast range of fitness classes included in your membership. You can do a spin class, aerobics class, circuit training, karate and many others. I find that the classes can be done by all levels of fitness. If you find it hard you just simply take it a bit easier till you get your fitness levels up, but be warned some of the instructors do push you to work harder!

While on the subject of trainers I have to mention the personal training at Total Fitness. Some of the trainers are self employed and some work for total fitness. Those that are self employed charge very large sums of money but if you use them through total fitness you can get them at a huge discount. This is what I have done and use a trainer there. They are more in depth than others I have used before and analyse everything and set clear targets and timescales. They even design your diet for you including recipes for each day! If you go on holiday you can access the exercises you are supposed to do online as they will upload it to your own personal space on their website. The service is top quality and well worth every penny. The trainer even told me I was flat footed without checking just from the way I stood, and sure enough I was and advised me what type of shoes to get to help me in the gym and in time will help my posture.

You can of course ask the normal fitness trainers for advice and help in the gym but this won't be as good as the advice you pay for obviously. I have found all the staff to be really helpful here.

It also has a cafe that sells a large range of food and you can get a protein shake after you have done a long hard workout to help aid that muscle growth! It is quite a nice cafe and I often buy food in there but the prices can be quite expensive. From the cafe you can see the pool area so is good for parents who come to watch their children on swimming lessons.

For a monthly individual pass it costs £37 per month or you can pay it in full for £348 for the year. You have to join for a year but then after that you can just keep paying monthly and cancel when you want, but I don't know why you'd want to cancel! Students also get discounted prices here.

There is a total fitness a few miles from my house but I travel the extra 15 minutes to this one because it is so much better. I would recommend it to anyone in the area.

                        Advantages

                        Disadvantages

Good tv channel to rival all others

I HAVE PUT THIS IS THE WRONG SECTION BY MISTAKE! I HAVE ASKED DOOYOO TO MOVE IT FOR ME.

I would say that ITV is the channel I watch most out of all the channels out there. After saying that I am not quite sure why I have Sky TV now! ITV is a public service network set up to provide competition to the BBC by the Independent Television Authority. We first got ITV way before I was born in 1955 and since then it has gone from strength to strength. Most people refer to ITV as channel 3, I know I always have, I think it has been more recent since you are noticing it as ITV more.

More so relevant at the moment with the election coming up ITV are legally obliged to screen party election broadcasts on behalf of all the major political parties, and also other political events such as the Budget. However this isn't the reason why I watch ITV!

Some of the biggest shows on TV are on ITV such as Coronation Street and Emmerdale. These are long last soaps that are widely loved not just all over the UK but all over the world (I have family in Mauritius who watch Coronation Street). I also like the celebrity reality shows that are shown on ITV such as X Factor, Britain's got Talent and I'm a Celebrity...get me out of here! I think the fact that these shows are on there makes ITV appeal to me so much.

I also find that on a Saturday television in general is quite poor during the evening and it only seems to be ITV who are putting anything on screen that seems to be of interest. Part of this is due to the brilliant names they have signed up to ITV, I am not going to list them all but those who deserve a mention are Ant and Dec who have done so much for British television and are extremely entertaining. I tend to watch every show that they appear in.

ITV is slightly different all over the country. Some aspects of this are a really good idea because you get local news aswel as national news so you can find out more about your local area. News is often very serious and it should be but sometimes there should be some lighter, happier news delivered in a more outgoing and friendly manner; I find that this is more entertaining to watch.

ITV also offers good coverage on sport especially so on football. I find that the commentary actually shows less bias than some of the other channels.

ITV can be watched by anyone, there are all types of shows on there, there are even shows for the young ones in the family.

The quality of programming on ITV is very good (there is some rubbish still though) so I would recommend this channel to all, but I think most of you TV watchers probably already do!

                        Rubbish Scamming website

Just answer is a website where you can submit a question and experts will answer your question. You are told that you will get an instant answer but then in the terms and conditions it said it can take up to an hour.

I recently asked them a question to which I needed to know the answer straight away, after two hours they eventually replied but it didn't answer my question. The service isn't free either, once you ask the question you get to select the amount to pay the expert on them giving you the answer. Mine was only a short question that needed a short answer so I selected the lowest amount (£11). Other amounts you can pay are £22 and £33.

You have to pay money before you get the answer but this actually just sits in the account on the website. Once you are happy with your answer you can click accept and then this sends the money to the expert.

I found that the quality of the answer was really poor, they didn't even answer my question so I sent further information and even then they only half answered and then began telling me I shouldn't have done something that I mentioned I had done. It is not their job to tell me what to do I only wanted a simple answer!

You can't decline the answer either, you can only keep asking more questions until you are happy with the answer. I have decided I'd rather have the money sit in the website than pay it to the expert! I have tried to get a refund from the website but so far they haven't replied to my refund request that I filled out on the website or the two emails I have sent them.

I have also began to question whether the person answering really is an "expert" or someone who is simply using google to find out the answers (something which I didn't have time to do in this situation).

Overall I am not at all happy with this website but I guess it is my own fault, if I had simply checked dooyoo before I used the site I would have seen that most people think this site is rubbish and a bit of a scam!

I have applied for a refund through paypal now (this is how I paid them), but if they decline my refund I don't think there is much I can do.

                        STAY AWAY!!!!

                          Disadvantages

Great dance music and clubbing magazine

Mixmag is a monthly dance music and clubbing magazine that is available in most newsagents and supermarkets. It is currently priced at £4.20 and each issue comes with a free CD.

I have been buying this magazine for quite some time now and I can only say that it is improving all the time. However as with most magazines these days I feel that it has way too many adverts in it, but in this magazine many of them are for music events such as festivals or album launches, so it can actually be quite useful in planning your festival outings for the summer!

The magazine features a fashion section which showcases all the best fashion currenly out at the moment. There is also a technology section that shows us some of the new CDJ decks and new mixers. I find this quite interesting when it tells us things like what effects these pieces of equipment can do and you notice it out when in a club!

The magazine also features the usual such as competitions, short interviews with various DJs and letters.

One of my favourite sections of the magazine is the section towards the back titled "tunes." It is my favourite because it lets you know about all the new big dance albums coming out and then it splits down into various types of music such as techno (my personal favourite), electro and dubstep. On these pages it has some information about interesting things (such as Richie Hawtin bringing his Plastikman showcase to Creamfields this year) and also has a few new albums and tracks that are doing well at the moment.

There are reviews on events that have passed by too. This can be good or bad...if you went and it was good then it's good to relive the moment but if you didn't go and it says how amazing it was it leaves you feeling even more gutted that you weren't there!

There tends to be a large article on one DJ/music act in each month that gives you an insight into their life and what we can expect from them in the future. I like these articles as it lets you find out more about the person you see stood behind the decks and what they like, which can be quite interesting.

There are articles that touch on controversial issues too, for example there is an article in the May edition titled - Methedrone: The Truth. This article cuts through the hysteria to find the facts about "meow meow" or "mcat" as it is more commonly known.

I use this magazine when planning my nights out as there is a section that is a bit like TV listings but it is club listings. It tells you what nights are on and where in the country they are. This section is hosted by the company "Don't Stay In."

This is just a dance magazine, so if you are into indie then it most likely won't interest you. I can't get enough of it and as soon as I have read each issue I can't wait for the next one, I'm not even that bothered about the free CD so that's a bonus that it comes with one!

You can subscribe to this magazine for just £3 per issue and it comes with a free gift too (currently a crazy 2CD mix worth £14) and they will be delivered to your door.

Mixmag also have a website at:

                          http://www.mixmag.net

                          Check it out dance lovers!!!

                          Advantages

                          Disadvantages

                          Great supermarket

Tesco is the place where I do most of my weekly grocery shopping. They are currently building the World's biggest Tesco five minutes from my house which I am extremely happy about!

I like Tesco because the layout is simple and it is easy to find the goods that you want. Each aisle also has signs above it telling you the type of items that are on that aisle, for example aisle 6 might say "Crisps" to indicated this is where you can find crisps! Simples!

I find the staff at Tesco always to be very friendly and helpful, no task seems too much for them and if there are large queues at the checkout they will tend to open more tills to decrease the queue size. Most Tesco stores have also now introduced the self service tills which reduce queue time and allow you to properly check your items have gone through at the right price. I think this is an excellent idea and it has saved me time in the past. They are very simple to use as you just have to use the instructions shown to you on the screen.

I like that Tesco also have a "reward card" too known as Tesco Clubcard. This is where you get a point for every pound you spend and each point is the equivalent to a penny which will be sent to you in the form of vouchers each quarter. You can also accumulate points at Tesco petrol stations. When you receive your voucher you also tend to get some little extra coupons that have things such as extra points if you spend certain amounts on certain foods, or money off coupons. Tesco also tend to have various promotions on points such as double points.

Tesco sell a vast range of things. It's becomming a bit of a one stop shop, this makes it extremely convienient for me and is one of the reasons I love it so much. You can buy food and drink, clothes, CDs, DVDs, medicine, magazines, toys and books just to name a few things! I also find that the prices are very reasonable on lots of these items, I like to use my clubcard points on things like CDs and DVDs from here.

On the occasion where I have found that an item is not on the shelves where it should be staff only seem to happy to go and see if there is any "in the back." I hate it when people just say no we won't have any without knowing what stock is in the back so this is another plus for Tesco.

Tesco stores do also have speciality items in some stores. For example in Prestwich where there is a large jewish community there is a large range of Kosher food available.

Many Tesco stores now open 24 hours which is handy for those times on a friday night where you are staying in and need to get a pizza and some drinks!!

I am guessing most of you (if not all) already know what Tesco is, but hopefully those who shop elsewhere might give Tesco a try if you haven't been for a while, personally for me it is the number one supermarket (I know you won't all agree though)!

                            Advantages

                            Disadvantages

                            Good company, average gym

Total Fitness in Walkden is one of the older Total Fitness centres. It is based on the Ellesmere Retail Park next to Gala Bingo and the Worlds biggest Tesco is also in construction there.

The car parking space here is very poor. There is a small car park at the back of the centre but this fills up quite easily and the one at the front fills up due to the bingo so you have to park further away from the centre (closer to Tesco) and walk over.

The centre is based over two floors and some of the equipment is rather new but the majority of it is quite old.

The free weights area is very poorly looked after. There are only one set of each weight available and they are never replaced by users. Yes they should but because they don't I think the staff should check this area throughout the day instead of the end of the day. Some of the weights in this area are also really out of condition from people simply throwing them down.

The centre has a 25 metre swimming pool, a small kids pool, a hydrotherapy pool, a sauna and a steam room.

The hydrotherapy people is often out of use as is the sauna. This remains like this for a number of days. There never seems to be any urgency around getting them fixed. When in working order I like to use them on a frequent basis and don't have any problems with them when they are working!

The gym has also recently opened a family area. I think this is a really good idea as you can exercise with some of the younger members of your family.

It also has a cafe that sells a large range of food and you can get a protein shake after you have done a long hard workout to help aid that muscle growth!

The staff are extremely friendly and accomodating and they always like to help you should you need assistance. I often ask some of the fitness instructors for advice and help on various things at the gym.

I think if this gym was better maintained by the staff in the free weights area and the maintenance team worked on a shorter timescale then this would be a much better gym. I think could also do with being a bit bigger as it can get quite full at peak times, but I guess this is due to it being one of the older gyms.

If you live around Walkden I would recommend this gym, however if there is another Total Fitness near by you might want to check that one out. A particularly good one is Warrington - but I will save that for another review!
