I watched Skyfall, not because I am a Bond fan, but because a lot of my friends had said they thought it was very good, so I was expecting to sit enthralled throughout.
The reality was that for me, the film didn't really take off, and, an hour into the film I did find myself starting to fidget in my seat.
Briefly, Skyfall focuses on a serious security breach at MI6, that means that lives of secret agents will be at risk of being killed. Thereon James Bond and 'M' have to find out who is behind this threat and stop it happening any further.
In the opening scenes of Skyfall the film does start off quite promising, with a spectacular fast action scene with Bond, versus a spy on top of a moving train. Bond is dressed in a pristine suit and tie and well! Who I am to spoil the plot, you can watch the rest!
Mainly, the film portrays action scenes that are intense and exciting, but then appear to be directed in almost a sort of careless way. I felt that some of the scenes were, somewhat unbelievable and left me with a 'no way that is not possible' thought,
Of course during the film, Bond is seen having numerous dramatic encounters and exits from a lot of different villainous plots of which I expected and enjoyed.
Judi Dench as 'M' as always provides the ever reliable consistent source of good British acting.
However I was not inspired by Daniel Craig playing Bond, in this film, he somehow did not have the charm and charisma of what I felt Bond should be about. There is a part where a female companion asks who he is and when he replies 'James Bond' he does so with a blandness, as to feel no connection with him at all. Daniel Craig as 007's character portrayed it as quite boring at times and lacking the Bond uniqueness.
The part of the villain Silva that is played by Javier Bardem was good and I really enjoyed his part in this film. As a villain Silva was good but as Bond villains go compared to other Bond films he was not outstanding.
Skyfall has some extravagant scenic filming when Bond goes to Shanghi and then in contrast visits the highlands of Scotland, that provide the locality setting, for the ending scenes of the film.
Overall there are lots of great looking action scenes involving fast moving vehicles accompanied by the memorable brilinat Bond theme tune.
Overall Skyfall left me feeling, hardly thrilled and not stirred!
I joined FlyLady over 2 years ago and have been a devoted follower of the site ever since. I can honestly say it is a brilliant site. Let me explain what FlyLady is.
FlyLady is for all those people out there, of which I am one, who dislike any form of cleaning chores, does not have any cleaning routines and is generally disorganised.
If this sounds like you, then FlyLady will have a place in your life.
When you join FlyLady, it is free and you can opt to receive regular emails, which give you daily cleaning reminders and cleaning missions. There is absolutely no pressure and you will not be punished should you take no notice of these emails! They are sent, just if you want to receive them, but I find them to be invaluable in giving me cleaning reminders.
FlyLady gives you cleaning advice for every area of your house and if you have five minutes of time, then you can easily accomplish one of the tasks suggested. The cleaning tasks are broken down into what FlyLady calls Baby Steps, with an emphasis on no rushing to change your routines and habits, just take your time.
If you go to FlyLadys website there is a enormous amount of advice and support from FlyLady and her supportive community. There is a Flylady shop should you wish to buy the recommended cleaning products, but there is no pressure here to do so. FlyLady's website has recently been renovated and updated. I found it is very easy to navigate around and there is lots of valuable information on there.
If you join the site, FlyLady will have you following her tips for organising your life around your cleaning in no time at all.
According to FlyLady the first step to cleaning is having a shiny sink and wearing your shoes. FlyLady also uses lots of quotes and simple instructions like 'declutter for 15mins a day'. Do a 27 fling boogie and 'Make it fun it will get done' 'Having a flight plan for the day', among many others. What FlyLady does for me is somehow, helping to make cleaning simple and fun to complete.
FlyLady also encourages members to get involved and make contributions called testimonials to tell others of there cleaning experiences. FlyLady is not there to make you feel obsessive or guilty because you dislike cleaning, far from it as she actually advises against this.
FlyLady s light-hearted approach to cleaning your house is so gently done you wont feel that you are cleaning at all. The emphasis of FlyLady is of course on cleaning but not only that, it also focuses on the need to take care of yourself and nurture yourself
I think the FlyLady system works, because it is like a drip by drip effect on your disorganised mind that suddenly starts to have a positive effect.
FlyLady is like my cleaning chaperone, as she is a constant presence in my life and I would definitely miss her if she left.
Arthur and Steve are Santas sons in this funny enjoyable Christmas family film.
They are part of the family Santa business and they run a tight organised ship ensuring that Christmas presents are delivered to the right child at the right time every Christmas.
However this Santa is not very interested in his job and passes the control of organising Christmas to his older son Steve.
His younger son Arthur is left to work sorting letters and is relegated to the mailing room.
This Christmas one of the little girls that writes a letter to Santa does not have one of her presents delivered with the others and it gets left behind.
Steve and Santa think this is a minor problem as it is only one present but Arthur feels strongly that this little girl should not have a missed present at all.
Arthur has a heart of gold, unlike his brother Steve who does not really like children very much. Arthur decides to set off to deliver the present to the little girl before she wakes up on Christmas day.
Arthur is helped with his quest by old Grandpa Santa who comes out of retirement for the occasion and the traditional reindeer he still has. Also coming along for the ride is a very funny Scottish elf who just can't help wrapping presents.
The film has some lovely animated flying scenes which are completely believable for Santa that is! Grandpa Santa flying his relic sleigh and the annoying elf in particular, are very funny and great characters to watch.
I thought the film was a good family film, nothing to scare youngsters here. There are lots are happy Christmas moments that leave you with soppy emotions. The characters are all really likable and I warmed to them all. This is a thoroughly great Christmas film.
Don't wait till xmas to unwrap it.
Wreck-it -Ralph is a Disney animated film that I found to be a somewhat, overlong film to watch. I thought being a Disney film fan that I would enjoy it. The reality was that I found it slightly boring.
The story revolves around the character of Wreck- it -Ralph who is part of an arcade game.
Ralph is unhappy with his part in the arcade game and decides he wants to be the hero not the baddy. He goes and tries to get a hero medal, by running off and going into other arcade games. Ralph then meets other characters in the other arcade games along his way and begins to cause mischief.
Normally with Disney characters I feel a certain pull of emotions and empathy.
In this film I felt the animated character of Ralph was not very endearing in any way.
The story did not at any point make me feel 'Oh poor Ralph'. Having a feeling for the characters I feel is a necessary requirement of any Disney film. I felt none of that with this film.
Wreck-it Ralph appears to be mostly trying to appeal to the young child market and parents, but it does have a few scary moments near the end of the film that young children might easily be upset by.
The film seems to race along at a rapid pace yet I felt the story line to be weak, it feels very disjointed in parts and the different characters that are introduced don't seem to work together as a whole.
I thought that Disney had lost their way with this animated story that was confusing to me in parts. It definitely required a big injection of Disney Magic!
Wreck -It-Ralph is aimed at the kiddie market, and yes, young children are going to enjoy watching this film but I am not convinced the parents will do likewise.
I tried Clairol Perfect 10 in medium blonde on my more than 50% grey hair. I have previously gone to the hair dressers to have my hair coloured. On this occasion a friend persuaded me to try a home dye product, so I choose Clairol Perfect 10 because it is a well known brand.
Clairol Perfect 10 claims that it will cover 100% grey hair. Well I thought that's perfect for me It also says that you only need to leave the colour on for 10 minutes.
I think I was sceptical of this claim but decided to try it out anyway.
Inside the box there are step by step instructions that are very simple to follow.
The instructions say that you can choose either to use the colourant as just for a root application or as all over colour for your hair.
I found that the colour was easily mixed up and ready for applying. I did ask my friend to apply the colour as I thought it would be a lot easier than applying myself. The colour is applied with the application bottle and comb that is provided
The colour was easy to apply using the applicator nozzle. You then set a timer for 10 minutes and wait.
Word of warning here! During the 10 minutes I found that I did experience some intense itching and tingling of my scalp. The instructions do state to perform a skin allergy test 48 hours before, which I had not done. This was because I knew that I had, had previous skin allergy tests in hair salons with no problems or reactions at all. (On hindsight I should definitely have done this).
After the ten minutes, the colour is washed off and you are provided with some nice smelling intensive conditioning crème to apply.
When my hair was dried I did feel a little disappointed with the results of the colour although, my hair did feel shiny and very soft.
Unfortunately, I was disappointed with the colour result. The blonde colour was not as bright and vibrant as I had expected it to be and worse, the colour had not covered the side parts of my hair which still looked grey! I expected better results from Clairol.
I watched Les Miserabes, not knowing fully what to expect. I did not know the story line, although I had heard songs from the stage musical.
I have to say I sat mesmerised and fully entertained throughout. The film lasted over 2 ½ hours long but it was a sheer musical masterpiece.
The film has very little in the way of spoken words as it composes nearly all music and singing.
The cast is led by Hugh Jackman who plays the main character Jean Valjean that appears to endure endless adversity from various events that occur during his life. Russell Crowe plays the French general who is relentless in chasing after (Jean) to arrest him for his sins.
I thought that Russell Crowe was impressive in his acting role but not so much so, in his singing role. Nevertheless, let it not distract you from the amazing musical performances from other cast members.
Of course the music of this film is the major part and all the songs will be completely memorable to anyone that loves Les Miserables. The music score never disappoints.
I really enjoyed the performance scene led by Sacha Baron Cohen and Helena Bonham Carter as likable rogues; they are a treat and bring some light hearted humour to the many otherwise grim moments.
My favourites include an outstanding rendition of 'I dream a dream' sung by Ann Hathaway, whose gritty performance will be sure to have you reaching for the tissues.
I felt this was an outstanding musical, that tries to bring some of French history to life.
It has a large cast of talented actors and singers; whose poignant roles you will remember long after the film has ended.
I just went to the Pizza Hut at Crystal Peaks in Sheffield. I took along with me my two sons and one sons girlfriend.
Before setting off I had peviously printed a 50% off stuffed crust pizza from the Pizza Hut site. Pizza Hut often has different money off promotions, so it is well worth a search on the internet before going there to eat.
On entering the restuarant we were warmly greeted by a friendly staff member, who was very obliging and gave us a booth table thst we had all wanted to sit at.
The restuarant was quite busy and we found that we had to wait about 10 minutes before someone came along to take our order.
When ordering our pizza's, I said I had a voucher to use. At this point I did notice a distinct change in the server's customer service towards us, which I did feel a little off putting.
I ordered a flaming hot stuffed crust pizza, that lived up to its name! and a fairly normal double peperroni. I also ordered a lasagne which my son ate and he said was very tasty.
I had thought the pizza crust would be deep pan, but it came as thin crust. We had not been asked about this choice option when ordering and I was slightly disappointed as the pizza crust was very thin and not very fulling.
We also received free unlimited salad with our meal. You are given a small cereal type of bowl in which to put your salad. It does not hold very much, so like me you will probably find yourself going back for more.
I thought the salad choice itself was average but were presented in very small containers, which did not present the salad choices in the best way..
Overall I would say we had a tasty enjoyable meal at Pizza Hut at a discounted cost and although the customer service was inconsistant the food was tasty and enjoyable.
I believe that , even if you are not a Tarantino fan you will like this film. and if you are a Tarantino Fan you will absolutely love this film!
I enjoyed Django Unchained because it has amazing unexpected scenes with exceptional acting moments and twists that completely held my attention.
It was strange to see Jamie Foxx as a gun toting, bounty hunter but never the less he was impressive in playing this role. Leonardo DiCaprio plays a real mean character who I found very hard to like.
A magnificent performance comes from Christoph Waltz who plays a masquerading travelling dentist. Not forgetting Samuel L Jackson's role, who turns up in an unexpected part of the film.
I did find the slavery storyline difficult to watch as there were two particular parts of the film which were quite brutal and which made me want to close my eyes!
Django Unchained has the usual Tarantino blood splattering moments that can be a little upsetting in parts but is really what I would have expected from this film.
However the film does offer some light relief with a few unexpected humorous moments, when least expected.
I also really enjoyed the music soundtrack which is an assortment of different off the wall tracks from various artists and types of music which I felt complimented the film.
I am speechless and seething! with anger more than anything else. I registered on this site as it sounded quite genuine and the surveys looked short and interesting.
Yes they give you a pound to join, to entice you in like a snare but you soon find out all is not what it seems.
The bottom line is I spent over 20 minutes on a survey for Populus which said would only take 12 minutes. Nearing the end of the survey and my patience, I thought to myself 'come on now only one more question to go.
Well! I got to the last question which was a repeat question of a previous one similar but slightly different and could have had 2 answer to it. I obviously choose the wrong answer because the next thing that showed up was that my survey had not passed quality control.
What! Ridiculous. Such a con!. They had all my personal information and not a penny made.
My advice Keep Away.
