This story by Jacqueline Wilson tells the tale of two sisters who could not be more different being moved to a new place, a new school, everything. Pearl, the younger of the two at ten years old, idolizes Jodie in every single way. Jodie is fourteen and does whatever she likes, whenever she likes much to her parents dislike, especially her mother. When they move into the cottage at the old school, Jodie gets into a lot of trouble, even trying to get the older gardener, Jed, to go out with her. Pearl makes new friends, too. She especially likes a tall, thin and shy boy named Harley. Everything seems to be going well until the other kids at the school arrive as soon as the term starts. Pearl makes lots of new friends and doesn't need Jodie anymore - or so Jodie thinks - and Jodie never really fits in. Secretly, Peal and Jodie along with Harley climb the mysterious steps in the tower that lead to Mrs. Wilberforce's - the headmistress who had an accident and is now in a wheelchair- bedroom. Jodie is convinced she fell out of the tower and then tells everyone that. On Halloween, she tells it to the young children at bedtime and then is humiliated into telling everyone- the whole school - that it wasn't true. On Bonfire night, Jodie dresses up as a ghost and hangs out of the window - with terrible consequences.
I love the end of this book - the twist that Pearl tells you. I think many people would enjoy this book as it is different from other Jacqueline Wilson books.
This book is set in London, in the 1800s. Hetty Feather is a foundling baby, who is destined to live her life as a servant. Hetty has other ideas! Hetty is just a tiny baby when she is brought to the hospital by her mother. She is then, as well as all other foundlings, given to a foster home in the country, to be looked after by her foster parents, John and Peg. The young girl gets up to lots of adventures at her foster home even though they are poor, and her foster brother Jem even takes her to the circus, where she sees Madame Adeline, who she believes is her real mother. When Hetty and her foster brother Gideon turn five at last, Mother has to take them to the hospital once again, where they are all separated. Hetty despises the hospital, wishing the Matrons, who she has nicknamed Matron Stinking Bottomly, and Matron Pig faced Peters, dead. When she is in the infants, she is looked after by Nurse Winterson. Hetty calls her Winnie and they both seem very fond of one another. To make matters worse, her foster sister Martha can't remember her or a thing about home. Hetty swears to remember everything. She makes friends with the cook, Ida, and a girl named Polly, though she is adopted in the middle of the book. There is a very good twist in the end, though I'm sure if you paid enough attention, you would have, like me, guessed it already.
I loved this book and would recommend it to anyone. If you get it now, you might finish it and it's equally great sequel, in time for the last book in October.
This camera is sturdy and well priced at it's retail price, which may vary. It has a useful strap and is great for people who drop things a lot like me. The flash is good and I like the many options for shooting mode, such as:
Fireworks ( Slow shutter Speed)
Sunset (Makes colour more vivid.)
Snow (Suitable for shooting in snowy scenes)
Beach (Crisp, clear shots when shooting on the beach)
Party (Suitable for indoor events)
Flower (more vivid shots)
Text (More effective shots of lettering.)
Scene recognition (for optimum camera settings)
Movie (taking videos)
Natural and flash
Natural (no flash)
Portrait. (Best setting for people pictures)
Baby mode (best for babies for natural skin tone without flash)
Smile and shoot (detect smile and shoot automatically)
Landscape (clear shots)
Overall, I believe this camera is best for beginnners or simple family photos as it will take the test of time or abuse, as ours has even has drink spilled on it ans still works perfectly fine.
It comes with a handy tripod and handbook. As much as I'd praise this camera, I could fault it on its zoom as it is rather shaky.
I got given this book as a present and thought it looked a lot like twilight, which is why I was reluctant to read it. When I actually got around to reading it, I was pleasantly surprised. The story line of this book, is a pack of wolves outside of Grace's house. Grace got attacked when she was younger but she loves them. One especially. When a local boy, Jack, gets attacked and is presumed dead, the whole town wants rid of the wolves. Grace must protect them. Especially her wolf. I really liked it as it was a supernatural romance book but had a totally different feel to it. It felt like you could really imagine everything in the book. It was a struggle for me to get into the book, as there were a lot of words and chapters, but once I'd decided I was actually going to read it properly I couldn't get enough. I loved Grace and Sam's relationship as it felt real and sweet, not at all like others I've read. From this book, I think that the author, Maggie Stiefvater, is an incredible writer as, as soon as I'd finished the first book, I had to go out and buy the sequel and final book in the series. I loved the whole storyline of the girl and the boy, with other characters aiding to the brilliance. I particularly liked Isabelle, who although seemed cold in the first part, came to be a good friend for Grace and Sam. I think that if you disliked Twilight for being to cliche, you will like this as it's plot is very twisting and turning, keeping you turning the pages and is definitely not just a romance novel. My only doubts about the book was the huge amount of chapters, and the task of trying to find it in shops. (I looked in about four before I found it in a little shop).
This shampoo, whilst smelling great and lathering well in hair, leaves your hair looking and feeling silky soft and smooth. Alongside the conditioner, the two combine, leaving your hair almost weightless and shining. The price is very reasonable in supermarkets and L'Oreal has really proved itself as a shampoo/conditioner brand name. After washing your hair with this product, your hair will feel great for ages afterwards. Nothing will compare - price wise or otherwise - to this shampoo so be prepared to stock up! I would recommend this product to anyone with dry or damaged hair, or fine hair. Any types of hair will respond well to this and stay shiny and well looked after for long periods of time after the washing of the hair. It rinses out well and doesn't leave a residue or mask on your hair. Coloured hair with respond just as well or even better and it doesn't wash out colour or leave it dull.
Taylor Swift started out with her self titled album "Taylor Swift" and has now progressed onto her second album, entitled "Fearless". The tracklist is as followed:
3. Love Story
4. Hey Stephen
5. White Horse
6. You Belong With Me
8. Tell Me Why
9. You're Not Sorry
10. The Way I Loved You
11. Forever & Always
12. The Best Day
It incorporates the country element of Taylor Swift, the first album yet has a pop twist in songs such as Fearless and The way I loved you. I thoroughly enjoy listening to this album as the tracks are not identical and each have their own message to think about while listening. Taylor Swift writes her own songs and tries to send messages across to her young and old audience alike. I'd recommend this album as it has a good message and great songs with equally fantastic lyrics, by a phenomenal songwriter.
There are lyrics in the front booklet as well as photoshoot pictures, with a secret message hidden in the lyrics that ties in with the lyrics or dedicates the song to a person.
Clean on Me from Soap and Glory is very worth buying at the cheap price it retails at. It leaves skin soft and glowing after showers. It's very effective and is more so than other, pricier products. It smells divine and lathers wonderfully in hot steamy showers! As many of the other products in the soap and glory range, this product does exactly what it describes, leaving skin beautifully nourished and ready for moisturizers. This is easy to pump out of the container however not much comes out at once which is good and bad as sometimes you have to pump multiple times but good as you don't waste anything. I'd highly recommend this shower or bath gel for girly girls and others alike as this is an all round pleaser and lasts for absolutely ages after you open the bottle. Fantastic, lovely smelling, cute product that I'd highly recommend!
A whole account of the Speak Now tour, showing the crowds, songs, backstage and even home videos on the DVD. This DVD showed an overview of everything and anything that happened on or during the Speak Now World tour. It showed Taylor and how she interacts with the audience, giving you a view of what happens during a Taylor Swift tour. In the CD there were songs that were featured in the Speak Now CD and some covers such as "I want you back" by the Jackson Five, or "Bette Davis Eyes" by Kim Carnes. In this DVD and CD package it really reveals what happens at the shows as I've attended on this tour and isn't any staged moments. The home videos show Taylor at her most comfortable and gives fans a look at her home life. This was a very, very good CD and DVD overall in my opinion! Worth every penny, though it's very good value for money. CD and DVD are separate discs.
Good value for money at £300 - £400 depending on place of purchase. Sturdy and quick loading with games and programs already installed. It takes quite a lot to break it and I have yet to although I don't take as much care as I should when carrying it/installing things to it. The battery life isn't fantastic as it runs out quickly and the charger broke rather quickly after buying though that was after prolonged use. It wasn't easy to purchase a new charger as the hole for the charger has a funny pentagonal shape and I had to get a universal charger to fit. They keys on the keyboard are sturdy and not easy to break. I pulled one off accidentally and it fixed back on easily and I could do it myself. Easy to clean and keep tidy as you can wipe it with a cloth, dust the keyboard ect. Great laptop!
