Boots stores tend to vary greatly in size. The new one in my town centre is rather large it replaced the old one in 2007, it is therefore very modern with the aisles set out in a way that makes things easy to find. There are always plenty of store assistants to assist with your needs.
Aswell as having your usual pharmacy goods the store also stocks a range of baby goods, large variety of fragrances and has its own digital photo lab.
There is also a number 7 make up counter which always has people on hand to advise on your make up needs!
All in all this Boots provides everything that the old store provided aswell as some new things but is more modern and spacious than the old store.
The Christmas ranges have just been brought out here too and they have got a very large range of products, most if not all of which are on 3 for 2! In the christmas catalogue there are more tiems than what are stocked in the store but the store will order them in for you and have them within a week!
Specsavers is one of the busiest opticians in Warrington Town Centre, they have excellent optician facilities with most of the equipment used being relatively new and can usually fit your eye test in the same day!
There is a large range of choice in frames and contact lenses within the store, which is displayed in an easy to find way (i.e. all the womens glasses together, mens together, kids together and all the designer frames together).
Specsavers also has an onsite hearing test centre which usually has appointments available the same day. There are hearing aid advisors and a variety of different hearing aids to suit different budgets.
The only fault with this opticians is that you often have long waits for spectacle advisors to become available to help you and even simple tasks like collecting a pair of glasses can often take an hour or more due to the sheer lack of staff within the very busy store.
Blue Angel or "The Razz" as it's affectionately known, is extremely popular with students due to its cheap deals on drinks, tuesdays are £1 a drink. This place gets really busy and if you don't get in before 12 you WILL have to queue for a looooooooong time to get in!
One piece of advice is not to wear your favourite shoes as the club is underground and doesn't have carpets so you can imagine the mess when drinks get spilt. Due to the place being underground it gets very hot and sweaty in there and the mixture of spilt drinks off the floor and peoples sweat soon becomes to evaporate before condensing on the ceiling and as the night goes on this begins to drip all over you, not very pleasant but by the time this happens most people are usually too drunk to care!
One to visit, especially if you are a student even if its only so you can say you've been!
Never before have I met a freindlier bunch of staff in an opticians, I took my dad here when his car was broken as he needed to get his eyes tested and wanted some new glasses for cycling.
They looked through the catalogue and showed him all the styles but didn't have the style of glasses he wanted in stock but they ordered them in for the next day for him to try on and to decide if he liked them or not, excellent service.
Also, while I was waiting for him to have his eyes tested the women in the shop made me a lovely cup of tea, which was especially nice as the weather outside was freezing and it was raining heavily which isn't uncommon here during the winter.
My dad went back to try on the glasses and decided to order them as he liked the style and the fit and as an apology for the inconvenience discounted the price of the glasses for him by 10% without him even asking... another kind gesture!
If anybody likes chicken supernoodles you will like these. I have tried both and cannot taste any difference between the two at all, the only difference I have found is in the price these are 8p whereas the others are around 50p per pack.
With these noodles you simply add the noodles and the packet of "herbs" to some boiling water and stir until they absorb the water. This whole process takes around 5 minutes at the most meaning that the noodles make a quick, tasty snack.
There are also other flavours of the noodles, although the flavour choices are a lot more limited than those of the premium brands... for 8p though I don't suppose that really matters does it? All in all I would definately recommend the tesco's own version over the premium brands especially in this climate of ever rising food costs that we are facing today.
I went here yesterday with a couple of my friends for lunch.
We all decided to go with the Aribiata Chicken panini priced at £3.95. It was quite tomatoey but I always think of aribiata being quite spicey and this was far from it... quite bland in fact. I had a Citrus Fruit frescato which although it was nice and rather tangy I don't think I would have it again as many of the other frescato's are a lot lot nicer.
My friend had a latte and said that it tasted very strong and not as milky as latte's usually do, she also commented that it left quite a harsh, dry after taste in her mouth.
The staff were friendly enough but did seem to dislike clearing the tables, many of which were left with dirty things on for a long time after the previous people left. Also our paninis were not all brought together as the staff member could only carry two she had to go back for the third, surely it would have made more sense for her to have brought them on a tray? Especially considering how busy they were.
Miss Sixty make excellent quality denim wares, but by far the best of their collection are the jeans.
Miss sixty jeans are quite expensive with an average price of around £110 a pair. However, they are absolutely brilliant quality and will last you years and years, I bought my first pair of miss sixty jeans around 5 years ago and they are still going strong now!
Other products from Miss Sixty are not so good quality though. I bought a winter coat from them 2 christmasses ago for £150 and within a week of owning it and wearing it the stiching on the shoulder started to come undone. Needless to say I took the coat back, as I had paid on my card they did put the money back on, but it took about 3 days before it went back into my account, which is quite a long time when its the middle of winter and your freezing without a coat! I looked at the same coat in other stores and found that all of them had stitching imperfections!
The staff in Miss Sixty shops are usually really friendly and will help you to find what you're looking for in a size that suits. They will also give you advice on what would look good with what you are purchasing but they are not pushy into making you purchase anything.
I would recommend miss sixty jeans to anyone as they are a brilliant investment but I would be cautious about recommending any of their other products due to my experience with their winter coats.
Batchelors savoury rice come in a paper like packaging which you simply rip open, add water to the rice and cook it either in the microwave or on the hob. I always find that when cooking the rice in the microwave even if you follow the directions exactly as they are written on the packaging the rice seems to end up more like rice you would buy in the supermarket that needs to be cooked rather than rice that is cooked and ready to eat. I don't know if maybe this is something to do with the way microwaves cook food but the rice gets really dried out! On the hob, however, the rice seems to cook really nicely and it has a lot more taste than most other makes of golden rice. The Batchelors savoury rice also cooks very quickly compared to other types of rice, like Basmati or Wholemeal rice. All in all I would definately recommend this rice, just don't cook it in the microwave. This rice is usually priced at around 50p and is also available in other flavours such as chinese, chicken, beef or curry.
I got this phone for Christmas last year after washing my mobile just a few days before. A few people have commented on the size, but for the amount of features of the phone it is not really that big.
The apple iPhone has a massive range of features, including a camera, 8GB iPod, calendar, email facilities and not to forget the mobile itself.
This is a phone to rival most PDA's and phones like the blackberry and HTC's phones that many businesses use. It is a trendy mobile with all the features that many business people see as essential.
My iPhone is one of the original ones and not the newer 3G version but to be honest the internet facilites on it are fast enough as they are, well I wouldn't say they were slow anyway!
My only complaint with the iPhone is the lack of a flash on the camera, which means you can only take pictures when the lighting conditions are sufficient and otherwise may need to carry another camera with you, but most people have to carry a camera and their phone anyway so this is no major issue.
I used to have this phone just over a year ago, at the time it was the slimmest and most advanced slide phone on the market and was around £200 pounds, I bought it on contract though so it didn't cost me a penny. The phone was absolutely faultess, really easy to use, but had many different features that made it such a popular mobile. I don't think I have ever seen a bad review on this phone which is unlike most other mobiles that you see. The reason that I replaced this phone was not beacuse my contract was up it was simply because it would no longer work!
Why are you giving it a good review then? I hear you ask
Well here's why, it would have worked for a hell of a lot longer I'm sure if I hadn't been so dippy as to leave it in my jeans pocket and wash them. So being without a phone I had to replace it. However, a few months later my dad broke his mobile and I hadn't thrown the good old samsung out so I gave it to him as a joke, low and behold it worked once again! So despite going through a full cycle in my washing machine this mobile still works as good as ever before and my dad is now just as happy as I was with it.
Quite possibly the sourest sweet around! This candy is sold in bright yellow plastic conainers that are made to resemble an overflowing toxic waste container. There are five different flavours in the pack including watermelon, apple, leom, blue raspberry and black cherry.
You may think from looking at the flavours that the lemon would be the most sour flavour however this is not the case, the watermelon is the sourest by a long shot!
The products is aimed at children, as most sweet products are, but many children could not possibly put one of these sweets in their mouth and eat the whole thing without having to take it out at least once due to the sheer sourness. Many adults also think that these sweets are far to sour to taste nice.
A container of these sweets would cost you around £2 online, but are difficult to find in shops, and would be perfect if you wanted to play a practical joke on somebody but I wouldn't choose to eat them if given a choice between these and any other sweets!
The village hotel & leisure club in warrington is part of the Village hotels chain. The Warrington hotel is one of the "Prem" hotels within the brand and has jsut undergone a massive 5 million pound refurbishment to all areas.
Brand new bedrooms with plasma TVs, iPod docking stations and other quirky little accessories are part of this refurbishment aswell as a brand new conference academy with new meeting rooms and a large cafe for the exclusive use of conference delegates.
There is a large leisure club which is open to both the public and hotel residents which has a pool, sauna, steam room, jacuzzi and fitness suites typical of those you would expect in a stand alone health club. The leisure club even has a cafe located just by it serving a selection of panninis, salads and hot/cold drinks.
The hotels bar "Victory Pub & Kitchen" often gets very busy particularly when there are football matches or boxing fights shown.
The "Verve Grill" is the hotel's restaurant and it serves a wide variety of different menu options to suit every taste, I think that the italian style flatbreads make a lovely starter to share and their hot rock grill selection which includes Steak, Salmon, Tuna and Ostrich is a quirky idea for a main course. Served on a volcanic rock that is heated to around 400 degrees the staff are keen to tell you of it's dangers but trust me the meat cooked on the rock tastes so much better than it would if you were to have the same meal with the meat grilled. All in all the experience we had in the restaurant was brilliant with a great range of home cooked food made from fresh ingredients served in a modern environment.
Most weekends there are tribute nights on in the hotel's "Inspiration Suite". These are brilliant and range from the likes of ABBA to Amy Winehouse, so there really is something for every taste. Your ticket to the tribute night includes a 3 course meal which is served to the table by friendly staff, a disco after the tribute act and a late bar until 1am... an absolute steal for £26.50 each!!!
The hotel also has a lovely health and beauty spa which provides a great range of different treatments to suit everybody from waxing to manicures and massages to spray tans.
All in all this hotel seems to be very busy and provides a lot of different services for both residents and the general public! A definate recommendation.
I have never really been a fan of dark chocolate or ginger for that matter but agreed to try a piece of this chocolate when my mum had a bar the other week. My mind was changed forever the chocolate is quite rich, well with minimum 60% cocoa solids you certainly would hope it would be rich and strong. The ginger is crystallised into small pieces and everyly distributed throughout the bar, so you do notice it's there but it's not too overpowering. Due to the fact this chocolate is so rich and full of intense chocolate flavour it means you can't really eat too much of it... even better, as it lasts you longer!!! Unlike regular chocolate Green and Black's is organic and therefore is slightly more pricey than your bog standard bar at around £1.70 per 100g bar but it is not something you would sit and eat the whole bar at once so I could quite happily reason out paying this for it. Green and Black's really is a luxury chocolate to be enjoyed by all.
The Jeremy Kyle show is filmed in Manchester and you can get to be in the audience by just turning up at the studios ate the relevant time. Jeremy Kyle assesses a wide range of family issues on this early morning weekday show that is shown on ITV between 9:30 and 10:30am. The majority of the "guests" on the show seem to be from the lower middle class and always seem to end up arguing on stage, both between themselves and with Jeremy. The show nearly always ends with the resident psychologist, Graham Stainer, taking the guests off for counselling. It is very uncommmon for the show to show you how people have got on after the counselling, which I think would be a nice addition to the show. Jeremy Kyle also occosionally does programmes where he and Graham are out and about in the community helping to improve facilities available for the less well off and even did a programme once where Graham slept rough on the streets of London so they could get a feel of what it is like for people who have to do this every night.
The British Gas website, provides an easy way of providing updating your meter readings, viewing bills and paying for them. Also, when you sign upto online billing they send you 4 free energy efficient light bulbs, which I thought was a nice little touch as a kind of thank you for saving them paper and becoming more energy efficient! The website is easy to use and provides features for all the things necessary for online billing aswell as sections for queries, a section with a review that you fill in which suggests way to help you reduce your bills etc. The webstie is laid out in a way that is easy to follow and navigate through without confusion. This is one service that British Gas have managed to provide without messing up or ripping you off, maybe it is part of a new, more honest start for them or maybe I'm just being deluded I'll leave it up to you to decide!!
