Rimmel as a brand is quite a fun brand and reasonably priced, they are always bringing out new products and my make up box always has some Rimmel in it. Although it is quite reasonable, I find the quality to be high and up there with some of the expensive brands quality wise. This foundation comes in a number of different shades so you should find one to match you skin, I am in ivory which matches my skin perfectly. The back of the foundation says ' feather light, liquid mousse, blends flawlessly for natural looking all day shine control. Silky smooth formula leaves a perfectly matte, baby soft finish. Light weight texture won't feel heavy or greasy' ....Price and availability.... You can get Rimmel in all of the usual places, Boots, Superdrug, asos or when you are doing your grocery shop in Tesco/ Asda/ Morrisons. The price varies depending on where you go, I would say around £5.99, this is the current price in Boots but it is on 3 for 2 so I think this is a really good price. ....My experience.... I first tried this foundation when I had a sample in my Boots advent calender, luckily it was my perfect colour so I gave it a go. I apply this all over the face after my primer, the texture is mousse like and blends in really well, I find I need to blend it in more than some foundations to make sure I have no foundation marks, especially around the nose and hairline. I used to think matte meant dull, but I was so wrong, your skin still looks radiant through the foundation. I would probably not have picked up a matte foundation in store but I am so pleased I had a sample to try. Compared to some other foundations, especially my usual of double wear I can find this foundation does not lasts as long as some others if it is hot or having a hard day. ....Overall.... I can not say this is the only foundation I will ever use as I do use others but I have just bought a second tube of stay matte and I am absolutely loving it. Do not be put off by the face it is matte, it does not dull the skin, only gives a beautiful finish. I would recommend this to all skin types
Benefit comes across as a really fun brand with bright packagaing but the products are of a really high quality. They are quire pricey compared to other brands that you can pick up, but they last a long time and generally really work so sometimes I feel the extra price is worth it. I have a slight obsession with reading beauty blogs and watching make up blogs on youtube and high beam was a product which came up time and time again so I decided it was time I gave it a go. High beam is a liquid highlighter with a light pink satin like colour, it can be used over make up or on bare skin if you have a no make up day but just want a slight glow. Highlighters are massive now and you can pick up so many tips online for how to use them. ....Avaiabilty and price... You can pick Benefit products up from so many places including from Benefit directly, Boots, Debenhams, feelunique and House of Fraser. For 13ml it will cost £19.50, this sounds really expensive but you use a tiny bit of the product each time so it lasts forever. ....Application.... High beam is one of the last products I apply, what I do is put a few dots on my cheek bones and gently pat it in so I do not disturb my foundation which I have already applied.. I also use a tiny bit on my brow bones, down the nose and above my top lip - basically anywhere you want to highlight. I only use a small amount or it ends up looking too much and a bit cakey. I love contouring and this is the perfect product for the highlighting part - you can find so many good videos on youtube for contouring. ....Overall.... I love a highlighter and they can really finish off a look, this is the best I have ever tried and I would recommend to anyone
A primer is something which I have used for a few years now, at first I was not really sure what the point of adding an extra stage in between my moisturiser and foundation was but I would never not use a primer now. A primer smooths out your skin and gives an even surface ready for whatever make up you want to apply, even if you do not wear make up a primer will even out your skin tone. I have used a number of primers before and they all vary in texture and results. ....Smashbox Photofinish Foundation Primer.... Smashbox have a massive range of primers, these include: - Photo finish foundation primer light - Photo finish colour correcting primer - Photo finish hydrating foundation primer - Photo finish more than primer blemish control So there is a primer for whatever you want, the photo finish primer is the first Smashbox one I have tried but look forward to trying others in the future, on the Smashbox website you can see a full list of their primers and what each claims to do. ....Price and availability.... You can pick this primer up at a number of places including Boots and from Smashbox direct. For 30ml it is £25 which does seem pricey but you only need a small amount to cover the whole face as it blends really well. ....My experience.... I use this product every morning before putting my make up on, I moisturise my skin and then leave the skin for a few moments for my moisturiser to soak in. You only need a small amount of primer as a small amount really does go a long way. Compared to some other primers which I have used this one is a lot smoother and not as thick, at first I was unsure on this but love the texture. Once it is applied to the skin my skin feels really smooth and extra hydrated, it also gives the skin a more even look which I love. I used to have trouble with my make up staying place for the full day but I find this primer really helps to keep my make up in place and last throughout the day. I have personally never used a primer on an evening but I have heard that putting a primer on over your night treatment works well and locks in your treatment. ....Overall.... I would never not use a primer, once this primer runs out I am not sure if I would buy again, this is only because of the price, if it was a few pounds less I would not hesitate in repurchasing.
I absolutely love beauty products and I am always trying a new lipstick or body product but when it comes to skincare I am always nervous of trying new products due to having sensitive skin. I had saw this product on QVC and read about it in a few beauty blogs, after doing a lot of research it was something I really wanted to try. Philosophy is a brand which I already love and enjoy using, it is gentle but does really luxurious products too. Philosophy purity one step facial cleanser is a one stop product which can be used to cleanse away your make up, eye make up, tone the skin and leave it lightly moisturised. We all know that just because a product claims to do these things does not mean it actually will so I was looking forward to see if this would. ....Bottle size.... I would not usually write a section on the size of the bottle but the amount of product which you get in the largest size is a big selling point for me as it makes it really affordable. The sizes which you can get the cleanser in are: - 90ml (perfect for travelling) - 240ml - 471ml - 946ml (I bought this from QVC) The design on the bottle is really simple and in line with the Philosophy range, I personally love this. ....Price and availability.... You can get this product from online, Debenhams, John Lewis, Boots or QVC which is where I purchased mine as it seemed the best value. The price which you pay for Philosophy is usually set wherever you buy it from - 90ml: £8.00 - 240ml: £17.50 - 471ml: £28.50 - 946ml: £39.00 from QVC ....My experience.... I use this cleanser every day and night, I have been using it for around six months now. Although you can use this cleanser to remove eye make up and it works perfectly well, I personally prefer to remove my eye make up first with a different product. You then massage the cleanser onto your skin for 30 seconds, I feel like when doing this you can feel the make up lifting from your face. Then you just remove the cleanser with warm water. Once I have done this my skin is left feeling really clean and hydrated with no make up at all left behind. I find the fragrance of this product really hard to describe, it is not too heavy and just smells clean and fresh. I always follow with a moisturiser but the skin is not left really dry and tight which I have had in the past with some other cleansers. Cleansing is a step which we need to do but this product does make it a pleasure and not a chore. ....Overall.... I purchased the 946ml bottle which is huge for only £39.00 so feel this is a good value product which removes make up effectively, feels like a real treat to use and hydrates the skin. If you have sensitive skin and worry about trying new products, I would really recommend trying this. If you are unsure you can buy with QVC and have 30 days to try it, if it is not for you you can return it and get your money back so you have nothing to lose.
My first experience with this moisturiser was when I kept getting samples in magazines and with any beauty product I bought, I am always nervous in starting to use a different skin care product as I have extremely sensitive skin but when I kept seeing the samples I thought I would give it a go so with the trusted brand of Garnier I decided to give it a go and I am so happy that I did. The first thing to decide when purchasing this moisturiser is which one you need to go for, there are 5 different types, these are: - Protect & glow: moisturiser for normal skin - Start afresh: moisturiser for normal/ dry skin - Goodbye dry: moisturiser for dry/ very dry skin - Wake me up: moisturiser for dull skin - Shine be gone: moisturiser for combination/ oily skin You can use the website moisturematch.co.uk and answer a few questions which will then give you your perfect moisture match. I personally use start afresh as I have normal skin but do get dry patches. From looking at the descriptions, I could say my skin goes through each one of these types depending on time of the month/ year. ....Price.... I have never paid full price for this moisturiser, I have paid £2.99/ £3.99. The RRP is £5.99 but you can always find it on offer. You can pick this moistuiser up in all of the usual places - Boots, superdrug, Tesco, Asda, Morrisons, Savers so it is really easy to get hold on. ....My experience.... I apply this moisturiser day and night, every now and again I will try a sample or face oil if I need a little something extra but the majority of this time I use this moisturiser. The moisturiser has the texture of a lotion which makes it really easy to massage into the skin, I use it all over the face and neck, I do have to give it a minute before going on to apply make up but this is not a problem at all. I then feel like my face is moisturised all day until the evening when I remove my make up and moisturise again. In the past I have had major problems with my skin but this causes no irritation at all which is why I like it so much. I have just bought my third tube of this moisturiser and I am almost certain that this is the first moisturise that I have ever purchased for the third time so that has to be a good thing. ....Conclusion.... If you are looking for a fancy moisturiser that claims to work miracles then this probably is not for you but if you want a good moisturiser to suit your skin type and do the job then I would really recommend this
I love bags and purses and adore my Cath Kidston bag, so it was a lovely surprise when I received this wallet as a gift. I would not have spent so much money on myself for a purse but was so happy to receive this as a gift. This first thing I did was take everything from my old purse and put it in here, this included loads of cards and my money which all fitted in perfectly. This wallet will cost £26 and can be found on the Cath Kidston website, in the stores and other department stores which stock Cath Kidston. Notting Hill pattern This pattern is dark blue with a floral pattern on in a number of colours including red, pink and green. You can get many items from Cath Kidston in the same pattern, including, bags, shoppers, a travel pouch, welly socks, t shirt, sweatshirt dress and even a dog bed!! Inside the purse You unzip this purse with a zip which goes across three sides of the purse. The pattern inside is the same as that on the outside, it is a beautiful design. There is a zipped area in the middle of the purse to keep your coins in. And space for 6 cards. There is also space at both sides of the purse to keep extra cards in, paper money and receipts. I found everything to fit in, no problem. The wallet is so easy to take care of, because of the material you can easily wipe it with a damp cloth. The material is 100% PVC coated cotton and the lining is 100% cotton with leather trims - the material amkes it feel really substantial. One of the many things which I love about this wallet is how substantial it feels, you can feel the quality. I have had this wallet for about six months and it still looks as good as the day I got it. It is larger than some purses/wallets at 19cm x 11cm - this is a real advantage for me as I have always bought larger purse/wallets. If you would prefer smaller then Cath Kidston does sell smaller ones. This wallet is really girly but I think it is suitable for so many age ranges - I adore it but can also image my mum and grandma using it. I know it may sound expensive but after using it for 6 months the price is totally worth it
Barry M nails - I love nail products so much and in general I find Barry M to be of an amazing quality and lasting as long as colour which has cost so much more. I remember when brands such as nails inc were bringing out magnetic nail polish and my only worry was that it would be difficult to do myself. I was then in Superdrug one day and saw these magnetic colours were on offer so I bought the blue and silver with the straight lined pattern. There were a number of colours and patterns on the magnet to pick from, including, blue, silver, red, black and purple and the magnets were straight, horizontal, vertical and wavy. The magnet you pick is what pattern you will end up with on your nail. Once you have a collection of colours and magnets you can mix and match the colours and magnets. But yo have to use the proper magnetic nail polish with the magnets - any other polish will not work. Application - Remove the square lid with the magnet on - Apply one coat of polish to all nails and allow to dry - Apply a second layer to one nail and immediately hold the magnet over the nail for about 10 seconds - this is when the pattern appears - Repeat on all nails This polish costs £4.99 but often on offer in Superdrug, e.g. buy two for £8.00, or 3 for 2 in boots. For the first few times I tried I would catch the magnet on my nail and ruin the colour, this did not take long to get used to though and now I find the technique really easy. The end result looks like you have spent so much longer on your nails than you have. I also find this nail polish to be longer lasting and quicker drying than other nail polish too. I do not use this effect all the time on my nails but it is fun and something different. Barry M is great for trying out new products, reasonable prices and always bringing out something new to try - younger people will find it really fun to experiment with
I love nails products and I am always wanting to try something new. I love painting my nails but waiting for them to dry sends me mad, then I came across Seche Vite. It is a top coat which I had read about on beauty blogs and saw on youtube videos, I was hoping I would not be disappointed as it sounded so good. .....Application..... To use this top coat you just paint your nails as usual, I then give a small break (20-30 secs) and apply the top coat straight on to your wet nails. You load the brush and apply to the nail, as it is thicker than usual it spreads out so if you are not the best at painting nails, you do not need to worry as this corrects itself. You do not need to worry about your polish underneath, the top coat is quite thick and goes on perfectly. To make my colour last longer I always take the top coat over the tip of my nail to seal the colour on. It really is so simple to use which is a great advantage. After about 5-10 minutes I find my nails are totally dry and I can get on whatever I am doing - so much better than having to sit still for a long amount of time! .....Price and availability..... Asos - £10.95 QVC - Duo for £15.50 QVC - Trio for £18.75 It is also worth keeping an eye out on Amazon and eBay as you can often get this at a reduced price on there. You can also get a mini bottle on eBay if you are just wanting to try it out before paying the full amount. I get bored so easily with colour so I do often change my nail colour but Seche Vite top coat means that for the days I have the colour on it is protected. I also find that the top coat gives an extra shine, unlike some top coats which can make the colour go dull. So....I love trying out new things and often I find them great but then will love on to something else, but now I know this is something which I will continue to use as it really is amazing and does what it says!!!
I am writing this review because of the amount of chocolate we have around the house at the moment - a must at Christmas! There are so many tins of chocolates you can get now, Celebrations are ones which most of the family will like and share together. Although I have mentioned the tins of Celebrations, you can get boxes of Celebrations all year round in a carton - great for gifts. The problem is, once a tin is opened it just sits there waiting to be ate and is too hard to resist, even after a large Christmas Dinner, there is always space for a few chocolates. Price and availability - Tesco- Large carton (380g) is £4.00 - Tesco - Large tub/tin (855g) is £5.00 These prices change so often it is hard to say exactly how much they are. A few weeks ago the large tins were on 2 for £9 (great for stocking up at Christmas) You can buy these in most supermarkets - Tesco, Sainsburys, Morrisons and Asda My favourite is malteser, seems most of my family agree on that one. The mini chocolates included in Celebrations are: Malteser, Bounty, Mars, Snickers, Twix, Milky Way, Topic, Galaxy, Galaxy Caramel. Each is individually wrapped. I am not to keen on the Mars or Bounty but someone always manages to eat them ones. Although I would usually buy Cadburys chocolate, this is a lovely selection for all of the family - a real treat and sign on Christmas
I first tried L'Occitane Almond Shower Oil in part of a kit from QVC, I had previously looked at it but the price really had put me off. I am so happy I got to try it though, because this changed my mind straight away. To use this oil you need to massage it straight onto your skin, I use it on damp skin, not when standing directly under the water. There are no massive bubbles, just a very slight foam. You only need to use a few drops, unlike some other body products where you need to use loads just to feel the effect. Once you apply the oil onto damp skin, it really spreads so you can get a lot of use out of a few drops. The feeling really is like silk, you can continue to massage into the skin and it will leave your body so soft. Because of the very slight foam it is perfect for shaving with also. The smell is hard to describe, it is not overpowering but during the day I do smell it, I do still wear perfume and it does not get in the way of this. The smell is really soft and true to life rather than a sickly smell. To me the smell is really warm and comforting. I love to use a body moisturiser but some days just can not be bothered, with Almond Oil the skin is so soft that a moisturiser is not needed. Price and Availability -L'Occitane store/online £16.50 for 250ml - QVC - It is available within kits which may save you money if you are looking for other items too I know this price is so expensive and because of that, this is not the shower oil which I use all the time, I generally receive it as a gift or an odd treat for myself (received a bottle for Christmas). A bottle will last me months but this is because I do not use it every day, I see it more as a treat and will use it before big night out, hard day or after a long day. If you get the chance to try this oil I think you will love it. It is my extra luxury/ treat when I feel it is needed.
I originally purchased this toner because I was ordering some Botanics body products and as the range was on 3 for 2 I thought this sounded like a good toner to try and it worked out as a bargain. This toner is 100% certified organic which is a great bonus when purchasing any product. ....Packaging... This toner comes in a tall plastic bottle with simple label on with some instructions on the back and the Botanics logo on the front. The bottle holds 150ml of toner. The lid is a twist top so is really secure, it may be nicer if the top was smaller so not as much toner came out. ....Application.... I use a toner after I have cleansed my face and before I apply moisturiser. I apply some toner to cotton wool and wipe it all over the face. It is a stage which I really like and feel that it calms my skin and removes any traces of make up which were missed when cleansing. Upon application you can really smell the rosewater which is so calming and refreshing, this is another product which is perfect used after it has been cooled in the fridge. Years ago I would have thought a toner would strip and dry my skin but this toner is the complete opposite and leaves the skin really plump and supple ....My Experience..... I have found this toner to leave my skin feeling refreshed and calm which is important to my skin. I can not say anything bad about this toner but I have other toners which I prefer so I would not buy this again as I think there are better out there. Overall I can only give this product 4* as I feel there is something missing when I compare it to other toners I have used
I am always looking at new make up and wanting to try the latest make up but lately have got to use up what I have. So when I saw Soap and Glorys new make up range I loved the look of it but thought I could not be spending more on make up. Then I saw this mascara was free in a magazine so I had to get it! Mascara is something I need to wear every day so I have tried many. The mascara comes in a black tube with pink print on, it is quite simple packaging but really effective design. I think all of the Soap and Glory has really nice packaging so I was not surprised at this design. ....Price.... For 10ml this mascara costs £10 so I think this an average priced mascara in somewhere like boots. Often this mascara is on 3 for 2 in boots so if buying more make up/products you can get more of a bargain. ....Application... This mascara is so simple to use and just needs to be applied the same way as any other mascara. Onto clean eyelashes you can put as many layers on as you need/want, I tend to put two on unless going out and then I'll put more on. The brush is quite big which I was surprised with compared to many other mascaras I have used but the brush is really nice and makes application easy. ....My Experience.... With mascara I often find by lunch time I look like a panda with my mascara flaking off and coming under my eyes, so when I used this for the first time I kept checking in the mirror and hoping I did not have panda eyes but I was so surpirsed and impressed that the mascara had not moved at all! I have really dark lashes but this mascara emphasises this and makes my lashes look so much longer and defined. I am now really looking forward to trying more of the Soap and Glory make up and really hope it is as good as this mascara. I recommend this to anyone who has had trouble with mascara flaking and the dreaded panda eyes. Also, watch out for 3 for 2 at boots to get more of a bargain
I always have candles burning, reed diffusers out, plug ins on and the febreeze to hand, I love the house smelling nice. I have tried many different reed diffusers over the years but these air wick ones are totally my favourite. I have one in the living room, kitchen, bedroom, bathroom and I even have one in my office at work now. ....How it works.... When you open up the reed diffuser there is a container which you need to remove the lid from, this vase holds the liquid/oil so you put the reeds into this and then replace the lid. The oil containing all of the scent will then be drawn up through the reeds and this will fill your room with the beautiful scent, it is so simple to use. I love home fragrance but it is not always realistic to leave a candle or plug in on all day as I often will not be home, so having the reed diffuser is so safe and is there scenting your home all day. With young children on pets this is such a safe option aslong as you keep it at a height so it can not be knocked over. They need to be left on a flat surface and I would recommend on a window sill, on shelves or somewhere a bit higher as if they spill the oil gets everywhere, I learnt this the first time I used one so now I keep mine at a height. ....Different Scents... There are a number of scents, I find different scents are better at different times of the year. The scents include, - Freesia and Jasmine - Linen - Sweet pea - Blackberry - Mulled wine - my absolute favourite at Christmas When I have fragrance in the home I want to be able to smell it and for the room to always smell lovely - this really gives me this. ....Availability and price.... Over the last few months I have noticed the RRP of these reed diffusers getting higher but I will not pay this price as they are often half price. At Tesco at the moment they are £7 but watch out for offers At Asda they are £4 I think with price it is hard to say as varies so much, but I pay between £3 and £4 and feel they are well worth this price. You can pick these up in supermarkets and Wilkinsons at great prices. I love these reed diffusers so much, can not wait to see the mulled wine scent back in shops, it is gorgeous and just smells of christmas to me! But these are amazing for all year. I recommend these to anyone who wants a constant scent in their home
The reason I first tried this face mist was I seemed to be looking in the mirror and the end of the day and looking like I had no make up and I remembered hearing this face mist was good at setting make up so thought it was worth a try. At the time there was a promotion on at The Body Shop so thought I had nothing to lose. .....Application..... The way I use it is, once I have applied my make up on a morning I spray it about 4/5 (could use less) times onto my face, after a few seconds you can not see anything on the skin. You are advised to close your eyes and hold the bottle 10cm away from your face and spray once or twice (I should really use less!). It is also really good for keeping in your bag for a quick pick me up during the day, I can imagine it been lovely kept in the fridge so nice and cool. Upon application the rosewater is what I can smell the most so it is really refreshing and a pleasure to use. Also the skin is left feeling really soft which is definitely a benefit of it. .....Price & Availability..... You can get this face mist in store or online, I generally get all of my products fromThe Body Shop online because of the amazing offers, there always seems to be a discount available, free gift or promotion. The price for 100ml is £7. Although this may sound alot for only 100ml it lasts so long so I feel it is well worth the money. .....What I found..... The first thing I noticed about this product was how refreshing it feels, can imagine this been perfect in the summer if we ever get some heat! But for the refreshing aspect alone I do not think I would repurchase, the main part for me is the way which it sets make up. I have found that now when I look in the mirror throughout the day my make up is still there, unlike before when it would just disappear. ....Overall.... Although £7 for 100ml may sound expensive it is so worth it and I will never be without this face mist now, for anyone who gets frustrated with make up not staying on during the day I recommend this so much
....My Experience.... My nails were feeling weak and not growing past a certain level without snapping and really needed some help as treatments I had were not working. I saw nail envy on QVC for a long time but was never sure about it as I never know what to believe. But once my nails got to there worst I had to do something so decided to try it. ...How to use.... To use Nail Envy you apply two layers onto a naked nail and then every other day you apply an extra layer. You do this for one week then remove it all and start again. You can also use colour on your nails as long as nail envy is the first thing to go onto the naked nail. You apply this just like a standard nail varnish so it is really easy to use, the bottle is just like the rest of OPI nail polish. ....What I found.... For a few weeks I just stuck to Nail Envy with nothing else and within 4 weeks I saw a real difference but after one week I could already see an improvement. My nails were stronger and growing more than they had for years. Once I had used up my first bottle of Nail Envy I became more relaxed with my routine and now I do not always use Nail Envy - only when I feel my nails really need it. When using colour Nail Envy also doubles up as a great top coat ....Where to buy... I get nail envy from QVC where it is £16.75 for Nail Envy original and Nail Envy matte so it is a great price compared to other places. Boots - £18.65 lenawhite.co.uk - £18.55 All of these prices are for a 15ml bottle so it is a generous size. So for me QVC is definitely the place to get nail envy, you have the added benefit of their 30 day money back guarentee incase Nail Envy is not the product for you. ....Overall.... I know there are so many nail products claiming to do amazing things to your nails but Nail Envy really did help my nails so much and now is great as a maintenance. But as with all beauty products I think it is down to the individual to find what is best. I recommend this to anyone who wants stronger nails - give it a go!!!
