I got this coffee machine for my dad as a present last Christmas, as he loves drinking coffee and I thought he would appreciate a nice cup of it made in minutes. I got it while from Amazon for around £80, which is usually more than I would spend on his present, but I was willing to pay as it would be nice to have in the house.
It comes in a fairly large box and it is very easy to assemble, and I remember the instructions being very clear and simple, it also comes with a small black plastic container, which can be separated into to, the first layer containing holes at the bottom. You keep this near the machine and dispose of your coffee pods here as they drip so unless your kitchen bin is right next to your coffee machine, it comes in handy.
The design on the machine is very modern and I really like it, I think it would suit most kitchens. It comes in a variety of colours; black, red and white. There is a clear water dispenser that detaches from the coffee machine, it slots on the back of the machine and forms a spherical shape. It's really easy to use, all you do is detach the water dispenser and fill it up with water, then open the slot that you put the coffee pots in, and pierce it by pulling down a metal lever. You can make the water come out either or cold using a switch. Then you just press the button on the side when it turns green and you will have a wonderful cup of coffee within minutes. It is also mess free, which is a big bonus!
Some coffees only need one pod to be made, (like the cafe lungo), for others, you need 2 pods, one is the coffee, and one is the milk. There is a reasonable selection of drinks that you can make with it, and you are bound to find one that you really like. You can purchase the following for around £3.28 at most supermarkets or off the website:
-Caffe Crema Grande
-Caffe Grande Intenso
Although all these flavours usually aren't available in most supermarkets, you can purchase them off the Dolce Gusto website. Some of these flavours are also available in different versions, like decaf, or skinny, vanilla, etc.
Recently the machine has been leaking, so there is obviously a fault, that has been the downside to it, and as we have had it for just over a year, we aren't able to claim for a new one. The machine still makes the coffee it just leaks at the back which is quite annoying, but other than that, it makes really good coffee in a matter of minutes, so I recommend it to all you coffee lovers out there!
As a student, unless my parents are willing to pay masses (which they usually aren't) I can't afford to get the most expensive gadgets and I needed a laptop that would be reliable and cheap at the same. A friend recommended I get a HP, as you aren't paying a premium price and you get a reasonably good laptop.
I decided on the HP 620 as it had everything I needed in a laptop and more, the webcam allows me to take pictures, although not the best quality, but you can't expect much from a webcam! And also have video calls with my friends that live far away. The Intel Pentium t440 processor is a lot faster than my previous computer, and works extremely well for what I use my laptop for, which is basically, surfing the internet, using Microsoft office, iTunes, etc.
Another feature that I really like and use quite often is the integrated Bluetooth, I can transfer my pictures and images that I take on my phone without using a cable which is really convenient for me as I am always misplacing my cables, and it takes me ages to find them, so not having to use one is great!
There are 3 USB ports and I have never been short of one so far, I can charge my iPod while having a memory stick that contains the work that I'm doing at the same time and I still have one spare. I don't even think I have needed the three USB ports at the same time, so I don't think you will have any trouble with that.
The laptop weighs around 2.5kg, which is probably around the standard laptop weight, but I can carry it in its case, which you will have to buy separately as it doesn't come with one, or put it in my backpack no problem and it isn't too heavy at all. The screen is 15.6 inches which is a good size, you can watch a film on your laptop without the screen being too small and it isn't too big and bulky to carry around, although if you did take your laptop everywhere, you might want to consider getting a slightly smaller or lighter laptop.
The battery will last around 3 hours, depending on what you are doing and what "power plan" you are using. I don't tend to use my laptop without the charger, but it's nice to be able to if you need to. I have had a couple of problems with the charger, after a while, the connection seemed to be really loose between the two parts that connect the laptop and the plug, even the slightest movement would cause the charger to stop working, this was really really annoying but at the minute it seems to be working fine, but be careful, don't bash your charger around too much!
The other problem that I have had, is with the keyboard, quite a few keys have come loose and I have been able to fix most of them, but while trying to fix the "L" key back on I managed to break the little parts that fix it back on and haven't repaired it since, but apart from that, it is a good laptop that works well for a good price.
I have recently been given this camera as a gift, and so far I am extremely pleased with it. I wanted a relatively cheap, but reliable camera that I would be able to carry around wherever I went, and this camera has been just that and more!
First thing I like about it is its size, it is small and sleek, the thin design is great for when you want to either carry it in your pocket or if you put it in a small handbag, it isn't too bulky which is perfect for when I go out with friends.
I didn't really mind if the quality wasn't the best of the best, as I'm not using it for taking "professional pictures", but it is 12.2 megapixels so I am extremely pleased with that, if I were to use it to take some nice quality pictures, I know the images would be very high quality. The zoom is a 4x Optical zoom, which is a lot better than digital zoom as the quality of the image isn't compromised when you zoom in to take a photograph, although the image isn't as clear as it would have been without using the zoom, it is reasonably good and shows up a lot better once you put them onto a computer.
The screen is a nice size, 2.7 inches, which is big enough to see the pictures quite well, and makes the camera easier to use, I don't fiddle around with many of the features and it works just fine, it is easy to figure out how to turn on/off the flash, take videos, etc.
The camera also takes HD videos, which is a bonus, the quality of the video was higher than I expected, if you decide to buy this camera then you are getting a very good deal for your money. I also think it would be the perfect camera for someone that is starting to get into taking photos, maybe a teenager.
At around £80-£90 pounds, this camera is definitely worth it. It is available in a few different colours; black, silver, red and purple, (there may be some more but these are the ones I have found), but personally I would go with the black one as on amazon they are charging nearly £40 more for the purple one.
If you are looking for a nice camera when you are on the go, or something small you might want to take on a trip, or a gift for someone, I recommend this camera to all of you, it is a great buy!
An iPod shuffle is a great idea for anyone that wants a good quality device which will pay good music for not such a big price. This would be fine as your main mp3 or iPod, or you just use it like I do, for when I go running or am exercising. It is the perfect size for these events, and if you own an iPod Touch or Classic, these are way too bulky when you are jogging down a busy street. Even an iPod nano can sometimes be a bit of a burden to carry round.
It comes in an extremely small clear plastic box, which contains, the iPod, some headphones, a USB cable, and a manual. To use an iPod, you will need to download iTunes and then transfer all your music on to there, if not you can by songs or albums from iTunes. Songs which cost 99p and albums, which vary in price, but end up costing less than if you had bought all the songs separately. You could also import songs from CD's that you own onto your iTunes and then synchronise your iPod to your iTunes. This is very easy to use, and once you get the hang of it, you won't have any trouble at all using it.
The iPod is very stylish and VERY small, it comes in a variety of colours and is forged in stainless steel. It has a clip on the back which you can use to attach it to your shirt, pocket, etc. This is why it is so perfect for jogging or exercising, and you don't have to worry about the screen being scratched.
If you are looking for an inexpensive but reliable mp3, I highly recommend this to you, as you can purchase it for just under £40. You won't regret it!
Who doesn't love a bargain? Everytime I go to Poundland, I feel pleased with myself for picking up a bargain, I go quite regularly and the first time I went there I was pleasantly surprised as it is full of branded products that are sold everywhere, just at lower price. If you go to a more expensive supermarket, you might pick up the exact same thing but for double the price, if you went to a newsagent, it might even be triple!
The stock a huge variety of products, from toys, to toiletries, pet food and toys, snacks and drinks, and many more. Whenever I visit the store, it will usually be to stock up on sweets or chocolate, or just because I fancy a bottle of pop. Everything is sold for a pound which is usually a bargain, but I have found that sometimes they sell the same items in a supermarket for £1, these are usually on offer at the time, so you can be sure that you aren't going to find what you bought for less money anywhere else! They also have deals like, 3 cans of coca-cola, sprite, pepsi, etc for £1, or two packs of chocolate for £1, which is good, especially if you are going in with a friend, you can both come out with a snack for 50p each!
The only problem I would have with this shop is that sometimes, they have less stock in soem days, which is understandble, but if I go in there is no guarantee that they are going to have what I bought the other week there, which can be annoying. But I suppose they run out of stock fast, so they can't really help it.
Christmas is coming up and it is a great place to get little treats or stocking fillers so I am sure I will be visiting Poundland again soon!
Coolpix. This is a perfectly good camera for a very reasonable price; you can get it online for around only £60 which is extremely good! At this price, if I'm honest, I wasn't expecting a fabulous camera. I just needed a camera I could play around with and take out when I was with my friends, but it surprised me with how good the quality of the pictures are!
It is a nice size, the perfect size for a digital camera when you are on the go, it is a similar size to most digital cameras which is good when you are looking for a cheap case. It comes with:
-Batteries (they weren't rechargeable but I replaced them with some rechargeable ones)
This camera has an 8.0 megapixel lens, which is a reasonable amount, it may not be the be the very best available, but it gives you a really good quality picture, and most people don't need or want 12 megapixel lenses. The other great thing about this camera is that it has an optical zoom, so even when you zoom in the quality of the picture isn't compromised.
Overall, this is a great camera for anyone and everyone, especially as we are getting closer to Christmas, I think it would be a great gift for someone who wants to start taking pictures, or a teenager. It is available on amazon for just £55.75, which is an absolute bargain!
I got my iPod Nano when it first came out just over two years ago, If I'm honest, when I finally decided to buy one, I hadn't realised there was a new generation that had just come out. I was in the shop when I saw them but I wasn't that bothered on having the latest one, I just wanted a stylish music device that played good quality tracks.
Whilst in the shop I compared the 3rd generation to the 4th generation, it seemed like the screen size on both of them was pretty simiar, if not identical, the obvious differences were of course the shape, and the back wasn't a silver metal, but the same coloured coating all over. I liked that the back wasn't covered in that shiny metal, because that stratches quite easily and after a while it can look a bit tired.
The other advantage was that they now had them in 9 fun, bright colours; silver, black, purple, blue, green, yellow, orange, red and pink. I really wanted the green one, but it was already sold out so I decided to just get the silver one as the only colours available at the time weren't really ones that I liked. As I now have a colourful case on my iPod the colour hasn't been a problem, but I would have liked to get a colourful one instead of a boring silver one. They had also added some other new features, you can turn the screen to the side and you can browse through your songs with the "Cover Flow", also when you shake your iPod it changes song, which can be really useful, a couple of times I have accidently moved my iPod hard enough to change song without actually wanting to, but this problem can be solved by locking your iPod.
To use an iPod, you need to download iTunes onto your computer, then you can either download songs from iTunes for just 99p a song, or you can import songs from your CD's. I tend to do both, and the result is perfect quality music wherever I go!
The iPod looks really good, and it is really slim so it can easily fit into your pocket when you are on the go. It is perfect for carrying around and I always have it on me, whenever I am travelling I always take it and I can listen to music whilst playing on the games, which are good fun too! It also can play videos so I could put films onto it, but in my opinion the screen is way to small for that.
If you want a reliable piece of equipment that will last you a long time and play great quality music, you need an iPod. The good thing about them is that, once you have one, you wil never need another one! They last a long time, and you really don't need to keep on buying the latest generation. It is a great buy and well worth the money.
I have tried a number of products to try and help reduce the number of breakouts I get, and reduce the appearance of my pores. I must say I am quite lucky to have been blessed with skin that has never really been that bad with acne or pores. My skin is quite sensitive, but apart from that, I have never been a severe acne sufferer and my skin isn't usually too oily, but i do occasionally get a few spots, and if a product is going to prevent that from happening, I want it!
Clearasil Ultra deep Pore Treatment Wash comes in a pump plastic bottle, and it is a sort of blue/turquoise colour. It smells quite fresh and maybe a bit manly. It isn't a sweet smell, it has quite a strong clean aroma to it. It lathers reasonably well, if you have a wet face and apply this on you will end up with a bubbly face! Watch out not to breath it in through your nose whilst using it, (this has happened to me a few times!)
I first tried this product while my face was breaking out, I had a spot right on the tip of my nose and fortunately it was fading away but I wanted a product which would prevent that from happening once more. I found this in my local boots, and bought it with a light moisturiser because my skin does dry out very quickly. When I first started using it I was extremely pleased with the result, my skin was a lot less oily and felt really clean, but after just about a week I started getting really dry skin all over my cheeks and nose. Even though I was using moisturiser after I used this product, my skin couldn't take it and it was quite harsh on my face. Of course I had to stop using it and find a gentler alternative. But the results were noticable, it didn't really seem to do much to the spot, but it must have been drying it out if it was drying out my skin that quickly!
I only use this on the oily areas of my face when I feel that I am about the break out, or if they are particularly oily for some reason. So sometimes I will use it round my nose (which is where my skin seems to get oily.) But I can't really use it as an all over face wash anymore because it is way too harsh on my skin, but I'm sure it will work perfectly fine for anyone with quite oily skin, but I dont recommend it to anyone prone to dry skin.
I got this last Christmas and I was really excited to start using it as I absolutely love curly hair and couldn't wait to try out this product. I read the instructions, and it seemed pretty simple. I knew it probably wasn't going to be the easiest way to curl my hair but this could double up as a straighter so I thought it was a really good idea.
The first couple times I used it I had no idea what I was doing, and decided that that was why my hair probably was even less curly to start with. It was tricky twisting it round and I didn't know how many times to twist it and my hair was getting caught in the sides and it was all a big mess. So when I kind of got the hang of doing exactly what was said to do in the instruction booklet and my hair was being straightened rather than curled, it was vert fustrating.
Occasionally, and I do mean VERY occasionally, the "curler" would make a slight dint in my hair and the rest would be poker straight. It does heat up very quickly and is pretty much ready to go as soon as you press the"On" button, but apart from that I can't think of any other advantages...
It seems like a good idea, because having had my hair curled with straightners before professionally, I thought this would be a really good idea, an easier way to achieve perfect curls, but this product did disappoint me. It doesn't curl my hair at all! Of course I have to take into consideration that maybe my hair isn't the best when it comes to styling, it is quite thin and doesn't hold curls for that long, but I at least expected the You Curl to create some nice curls that could have been held in with the help of some hair products.
I now use it as a hair straightner, I'm not a big fan on really straigh hair and I would rather just leave it naturally, but it works perfectly fine as a straightner, the only problem is it is meant to be a hair curler. If you are looking for something that will give you wonderful curls, stick with the curling wands which give much better results. You will be disappointed if you invest in this one.
Although it is a reasonable price, it still doesn't do the job that you expect it to so in my opinion, it is not worth the money.
It could have been a great product... If it actually worked!
I love clothes as a teenager, and it can get quite pricey, over the last years places like Topshop have got quite ridiculously priced, and although their stuff looks good, most of it isn't that good quality. Zara is a brand I know quite well due to my visits to Spain. I never really went there that often in the UK as it isn't that popular, but I have started going there more often lately and I am really happy with all the products that I have bought.
It offers a wide range of products, their clothes are divided into Women, which is more formal and aimed at older customers, "TRF" which is the sort of young casual collection, which is the department I tend to shop in, Men, and Kids.
TRF have everything that you need, they have Knitwear, dresses, tops, jeans, trousers, tights, belts, bags, shoes, etc. Online you can see all their products and I have found that sometimes in store they don't always have everything they have online and visa versa.
All of their stuff is a reasonable price for what you get, you get good quality fahion, the TRF collection is a lot less pricey than the Woman collection, which is understandable as younger people don't seem to have that much money. I think it is a great store for everyone that has all the latest trends and the website is really easy to use and looks just as good as the clothes.
If you haven't shopped at Zara, or don't go there that often, you should definately try it out!
I love Katy Perry's music! It is always really loud and fun, and singing along is great fun! I got the CD a couple of weeks after it came out and I am glad I did. To be honest what drew me in was the fact that it smelt like cotton candy! The CD and leaflet that comes with it is candy scented and it reminds me of what the smelly stickers I used to get as a child used to smell. I don't usually buy CD's but it has really good songs on that you can just leave playing if you are with friends whilst you all dance around the room.
My favourite songs are "Firework" and "Teenage Dream" but they are all good, it contains 12 songs;
1. Teenage Dream
2. Last Friday Night
3. California Gurls Feat. Snoop Dog
6. Circle the Drain
7. The One that got away
9. Who am I living for?
11. Hummingbird Heartbeat
12. Not like the Movies
All of the songs are really upbeat, and young. Katy Perry has a great voice and listening to any song by her is a pleasure, and this CD would be loved by most teenagers, not just girls but boys too. The cover is a painting of Katy Perry in a cloud, like in her video for "California Gurls". This is a CD full of great songs and I think if you are a fan of Katy Perry you should definately get it!
I got this perfume as a birthday gift, I really needed a nice everyday perfume that left me smelling wonderful and fresh. This smells quite fresh and a bit fruity, it is the perfect scent for a young woman/teenager. I had heard a lot about this perfume, most people seem to have it and if not, at least know of it and have smelt it and it did not disapoint me.
It isn't anything too special or dramatic, it is a nice cool scent that is perfect for casual wear. It smells a bit like what I would imagine water to smell like in summer, it is quite a summery smell so maybe not the best if you want a warm winter scent. It would be a really nice perfume to wear to the beach or the pool when it gets hotter, it's a very refreshing and quite sweet smell, and I love smelling really sweet!
It comes in a clear glass bottle with a blue strip with the name of the perfume in white font. The cap is blue and in my opinion it is a really nice clean bottle that would look great on anyone's dresser.
It is a great scent that you won't get tired of and it is currently available from Amazon for £20 for a 30ml bottle. That is quite a small bottle, but it would be perfect for carrying in your bag. You won't be disapointed!
I never really read books, but twilight was an exeption. Before I read twilight I had seen the film a couple of days before, usually I would never ever read the book knowing the story and how it ends, but I enjoyed it so much that I started reding it as soon as I could.
It is a girly book that is all about high school love, but it is no normal love, Bella has recently moved to Forks due to her mum's second marriage, it was Bella's own choice even though she detects Forks. Noone in her new high school catches her attention except the Cullens, they are all unhumanly beautiful, white skin, flawless features, dark eyes. Her class matees told her that they were adopted by Dr Cullen and his wife. And then one day, in Biology class, it all startes, Bella falls in love with someone that she never should have gone near to, a vampire, that is thirsty for HER blood. Edward Cullen will have to fight eternally to try and not kill Bella...
This is definately the BEST book I have ever read, as soon as I finished it I went to buy the next two, and I finished them in less than a week!
A great read!
The Mr Men and Little Miss collection is a really great collection of books for young children, they are all fun short stories, as they are so short you will be able to read one at bedtime in no time at all. I remember all the great times I had reading these books as a child and they were always my favourite bedtime stories.
Mr Topsy-Turvy is an orange Mr men, he has a really big nose and on the cover of the book he is wearing his hat upside down and holding his stick by the end of it.
The story starts off introducing us to Mr Topsy-Turvy, things in his house are always not normal but upside down, back to front or inside out, one day he decides to go to town and has a jolly hard time getting there as he seems to do everything in a way he is not meant to, this causes a lot of confusion for everyone and...
This is one of the funnier Mr Men stories, as he does so many weird things, your kids can't help laughing all the time! Like all the Mr Men books, it is full of colourful pictures and is written in a really easy way. This is the number nine in the Mr Men collection written by Roger Hargreaves.
In most shops that sell books you will be able to find this collection of books at a very reasonable price.
Thanks for reading! xx
I have always been keen on my Nintendo DS lite and love getting new games for it, lots of friends had bought Animal Crossing as soon as it came out and many had been really pleased about it so I decided to give it a go and buy it.
As I brought it home and I opened the plastic that covered the game was really excited and couldn't wait to try it out.
At the beginning of the game you are in a taxi travelling to the city that you are going to move to. After that you have to choose what kind of character you want to play with and your personal details, your name, birthday, and the name of your town. You will move into a small house and you will have to pay the mortgage to the owner of the town's shop, every time you pay him back all the mortgage you can make you house a little bit bigger and this time you will have to pay back a bigger mortgage. You pay back with bells which is the money that you use in your animal crossing town.
To earn these bells you can collect fruit or shells and then sell them or you can catch bugs and fish and sell them as well. Your neighbours will occasionally give you something if you do them a favour, for example if one of your neighbours want a certain t-shirt, if you find it and give it to them they will give you something in return. To save you bells you can open an account in the post office and put your bells in there. You are also able to write letters to the other people in the town and include presents in them as well, if you do the next time you play Animal crossing you will have a letter (and present) from that person.
This is a very addicting game, and though it seems childish it can be great fun!
