I have had my Iphone 4 for only about 2 weeks now.
I have to say I am thus far very impressed with the unit, the display in particular, is extremley bright, and has been the most notable upgrade from the 3gs, (along with a radical increase in pixel resolution!)
Ok, the main difference's bewteen the revamped Iphone...
*increase resolution on the display
*on board led flash camera inc 720 p video camera
*a 1 ghz chip processor
those specs in more detail.....when you actually view photo's on the iphone 4, you cannot actually see the pixels, (yes they are that small)
it is as though you are viewing, a high glossy print out!
The still camera, is so convinient, take a photo, then pinch zoom or manipulate it (with the correct app)...The video camera is even more impressive, giving stunning colour, and unbeliveable realism !
NB the display maybe most noticably improved (over the 3gs) when used to browse the web, (as u can now clearly read text , without needed to zoom in, yes it is that clear!)
The build quality , and overall look of the phone is (as expected from Apple) truly, world class..the glossy black laquer that surrounds both the front and back often draws gasps, (or a mugger, if travelling by public transport..lol...you've been warned!)
Browsing the internet, on its 3G connection has been overhauled dramatically , thanks to Apple investing in the new 1 ghz processor, this means you can for the first time multi task, and open different web browsing windows simultaenously!
With more than enough free apps , courtesy of Apple and many third party in house brands, this certainly is the phone of the moment!
Possible downsides....Who wants to be restricted to Apple I hear you cry?
Battery life...with all the power of the iphone 4, full internet in your pocket
comes at a price, and the price is...youl hardly ever get more than 2 days out of the thing, and more often than not only 1 day!
....As the crowd's of the coliseum...chant "Android-Android-Android"
well thats your decision to make ....boys'n girls.
I made the choice for apples bit of kit and am very happy with it!
This Hp is one of the Artist limited Editon sets, with the smooth gloss finish.
As soon as you swicth it on , you do start to realize just how fast the bloomin thing is. Straight from the box it'll literally boot up in about 10 seconds!
The processor is not the only positive, though, with a huge 500 gig (half a terrabyte-no less!) on offer, not to mention a beautiful crisp LED backlit screen, making for the overall chasis to be as thin as possible whilst keeping overall power consumption to a minimum.
With The Hp Dv7 coming with Windows 7 (premium) pre-loaded , it makes web browsing a cinch, and is no exageration to say (at least) 8-9 web browser tabs could be opened simulataneously , even on a slow internet connection, and the laptop would still not slow down-impressive?
It comes as is standard , (as with most Hp laptops ) with Altec Lansing speakers, which are to my opinion some of the finest generic speakers seen on these shores!
Movie play back through the dvd,cd-r-rw, is stable and image and detail levels seem, conisitently sharp throughout.
With this having a i7, it does run effectively with a "quad-core" processor meaning this can and should be aimed at the more serious ethusiast, gamer, or video editor.
That sad you may just want to show off , and this certainly would be the bit of kit to do just that!
For the serious movie buff it is worth noting that is does come with a larger 17.3 inch widescreen display , by so doing maximises the overall cinema effect.
I remember the first time I ever smelt this and can distinctly recall it smelling, well, like cool water!
Cool Water by Davidoff is quite a sweet smelling, very light fragrance that, to be honest, seems to wear off quite qucikly.
The initial smell is very minty, with hints of spice and even a touch of corrinader in there! when this was first released to the U.K market there were very seldom fragrances for men, that smelt this sweet and light, so in many ways Cool Water broke new ground and paved the way for many new fragrances to follow suit!
On the under layers of this fragrance are musky, cedar and oak notes...that round off quite nicely as the mintyness fades...
leaves a lovely "cool" sweet smelling scent, that in my experience (at 30 yrs of age) proves to be one of the most popular fragrances amongst women..I think this accounts for an almost unisex appeal!
the bottle is quite contemporary..the most noted thing is the cool blue, that makes it look, quite well, cool lol.
The only down-side to this critique is the fact that as pleasant as the scent is , it is just a little too light. What I mean by this is you do need to
spray 6-7 times in order for it to last an afternoon, and probably even more to last all day!
If you can overlook this minor quibble, it is a lovely smell!
Issey Miyake taken from the Japenese designers name, has truly become quite a modern classic.
From opening the bottle from its distinct box, you are presented with contemporary designed bottle, with smooth defused glass, and a elegant long grey top-that pulls off.
The scent its self, has hints opf sandal wood, cedar, with hints of cinammon
This fragrance, goes on very lightley, initaially, it stays quite "cirtrusy", and over a period of hours, becomes more rounded and "creamy".
In this regard it has often been compared more notably to CK one.
Now, I think that's a compliment, but I'm going to stick my neck out here- "I prefer this, to CK-one"
I like the fact, that when you first put it on it smells so clean and fresh, its almost an "just out-of-shower" .
In terms of lasting smell, its actually quite reasonable, despite it being quite light initially.
The reaction's I got never failed to be anything but positive from the opposite sex!
In my opinion Issay Miyake has created a truely unique and remarkable
fragrance, that has made the listing's as being one of the best selling
Fragrances of the last 10 years!
It can be worn daytime or at night.
However, I think that the floral notes are best suited to the day-time,
and the season that suits this style most would have to be summer!
Largely in part to its citrus, and lemony zest, and its floral woody notes...I seem to remember the Ad campaign that they run on TV on a pier out at sea, (in the summer!) i rest my case.
I first saw this Panasonic Surround Sound system in my local Comet store and decided to give it a quick blast, and was suitably impressed with the quality of sound coming out of even the small satalite speakers.
The whole set-up includes a Dvd player (that will upscale regular dvd's up to 1080)- HDMI lead not-included, Front left-speaker, front right, front left, rear left and the rear right speaker, obviously not forgetting the floor standing sub-woofer.
On test I found the speakers to more than cope with just about any musical score or sound effects. I tested "The incredibles" and thats exactly what it was (cheesy pun!), seriously though the treble sounded crisp, with excellent seperation between speakers.
The bass often can prove "splashy" in this range but I found it to be extremley tight, and pitch perfect.
The whole unit comes equipped with a hdmi connection to hook it up to your HD ready TV. It also comes equipped with an optical connection so that you can connect it to any TV and what ever you are watching on TV the audio will automatically come through the speakers. (optical connections are not often seen on the lower end systems)
The PT560 also has a calibration micraphone (something I used when setting mine up!) this can save alot of time and effort when youre not sure how to calibrate the speakers properly. Just put the mic where your going to sit and let the unit do the rest, simple!
The picture quality for me was the real surprise, the black levels looked bold, red, green, and blue values clearly represented and edge detail even at speed seemed to keep pretty sharp!
The setting's on the home cinema couldn't be easier to follow and (as ever with Panasonic) the EPG I found extremley clear to follow.
All in all a tremdous unit for the price
The overal design of the lady gaga Monster ear-phones, is certainly eye catching and truly unuique.
It is unlike anything else out there.
I particualrly like the raised noduels on the side and the bright red makes them a really funky set of girls headphones.
When hooked up to an ipod you realise straight away that despite the slim size of these things, there pack alot of bass. This seems (having listened to them alot, as I bought them as a gift for my partner), to be due to the fact in no small fact due to Monster developing micro drivers and packing them into the rear of the earphone itself.
Despite there "Ga-ga" esque look, the ear bud's themselves are slicone tipped and are incredibly comfortable, They push partly into the ear canal, just far enough to keep out alot of exterior noise when playing quiet tracks, where outside noise is a problem.
When I listened to my test track "Iris" by the Goo-Goo dolls I was very impressed with the string's from the acoustic guitar on the intro, You do not "just" hear the guitar strings, so much as the strings actually being "plucked". This is only evident on higher end phones, as alot of audio euuipment will not register the sound levels, required to capture the "plucking" sound. This may sound like a "mute" point. (no pun intended!), however it is key earphones pick up relevant frequencies to music, their tones instruments and so on.
I also tested them on certain Mozart symphonies and you literally can hear the whole strings, piano and the entirety of the orchastra.
I was sceptical at first, but style with substance...
A jolly good pair of earphone's...looking pretty funky to boot!
For many the memory of a smell, invokes powerful memories, and for some can even transport them (almost) back-in time.
For me I have the fondest memories of stumbling upon CK one for the first time, i was about 18 yrs old, and is reminiscent of my old college days!
Onto the fragrance itself, CK ONE os extremley clean, lightly fruity, and subtle musky notes. What I like about this one, is its ablilty for you to make it your own. What I mean is all fragrances smell differently on different people, and CK one as a scent allows "you" to actually wear it and add it as a signature scent for any individual.
It may surprise some (new to the fragrance)
From when you put it on in the morning, for the first couple of hours you'll recieve these pleasant light, woody notes with citus undertones, that during the course of the day blend into a delicious musky almost creamy affair.
Lets make no mistake here, this is (one of ) the best sellings fragrances of the last 20 years, and for me it's not hard to see why!
Its reall success as far I see it, is its mass appeal.
I first remember getting this fragrance about 10 years ago, not long after it first came out in the UK.
I can remember smelling it, in one of those magazines, you know where you pull open the page and you the smell just hits you.
The first thing that you'll notice about Clinique "Happy" is it's fruity zesty smell, its very sweet and almost tangy and seems very uplifting hence the name "Happy".
Once you actually wear the fragrance you'll notice yourself becoming aware of how fruity, and almost "orangie" you smell, I personally found this to be quite a confidence booster, certainly when out and about in public!
The smell itself is relatively subtle, and fades becoming smoother and more rounded after a few short hours.
The scent is very clean, it lack any musk, or any real richness, its base is formed largely as I say through its fruitiness, energy and vitality. If ever there was a fragrance to wake you up in the morning then this was it.
Despite never, having bought a fragrance from Clinique before, I am "happy" (lol) to
highly recommend "Clinique Happy" .
When I first opened this I have to say I loved the bottle, and the fact that the lid seems to pop open at right angles, this is unique.
Onto the smell, when you spray black xs the first sensation is the fruittiness of the overal bouquet, it s light but as the same rich, without being overpowering.
The first comments upon wearing it from a female colleague were "wow, you smell good"! Now like with all good scents it may not be obvious to all concerned, around you that it physically is you that smells that good, such is the subtle "drip-drip" wicker effect that black xs releases layer-upon-layer of its multi faceted and complex scent!
I personally like an Eau de toilette to last a long time (ie 4 sprays will last all day) sadly this does not, and to be honset is the only thing that has caused it to lose one star. For sheer, unique smell, clas, body, fresh energy, and (all importantly) attractiveness this is right up there.
If you shop around in the U.K, you can usually find it somewhere cheaper.
If you fancy wearing a colegne that is completely unlike anything else out there on the market, then I would reccomend "Black-XS".
I first bought my cx300's ooh about 2.5 yrs ago, and remeber having had nothing but bad experinces from several ear phones in the past.
These were a pleasant surprise, the fit is very comfortable largely due to them having a sllicone, gel design that just seems to mold around the ear, and the ear canal. They come pre-packed with three different sizes, (I am aware, many of you guys out there are put off this style, of in ear design, due to the fact they may not fit, dont be one of the three will fit just Fine!)
The sound quality is excellent, bass levels are remarkably rich, and mantain high treble levels, and perfect picth with a resounding balance.
Now, most earphone 's under 50 quid, that perform well in bass tests, or say treble underperform in others, its almost like if an earphone will large sound drivers will result in great bass , but at the loss of the clarity in pitch and treble. In short bum, bum, bum, bum of a snare drum may sound great but if you cant't hear the rapsy vocals from Fergies voice (black eyed peas) you not going to be best pleased!
In the sennheiser (German, all the best brands are!) CX300 you have for my money the best earphones around for under £50.
They also look pretty cool, there are better looking earphones out there folks but none that perform better or even as well for the money!
Ok, I bought this game for xmas last year, and cannot recall ever looking forward to a game quite as much as I did this particular title.
From the initial title screen, this game is pure "Holywood", but in a good positive way.
We join Drake (the central lead character) on yet another quest, except this time its fully GLOBAL! You start on a abandoned train, that is literally teetering on top of a mountain side. I do not want to include any *spoilers*, sufficit it to say, the first few levels are slow burners, each mission level, or country seems to makes sense as you go farther and farther towards your goal!
This game is epic, lets be really clear about that, there are son many set pieces ...My personal highlights are : the towns scenes, (I think its in India), the texture, colours, and lighting really make you want to travel to that particular part of the world!
The train mission, basically you follow drake as he boards a train at break neck speed, as it snakes around the most beautiful vistas and scenery's yet seeen.
AAAAHhhh and rest, the control system is intuitive, the graphics sublime and several months on after its release date, they still are yet to be better!
Another point to mention re the graphics, is the motion and the frame rate, U2 plays at a consistent 60 frames per sec, which is impressive, particularly when you thing of the physics engine, The water ripples, weather effects and so on.
This is one of the best games I've played.
Only slight niggle, I completeed withing 8 days, I think it would have been better if it was slightly harder, just a point.
Buy it, you wont't regret it!
I love logitech, especially for their mice.
This particular one will work on virtually any surface, including wooden table tops, even arm chairs and so on.
Initial set-up couldn't be easier, just plug in the usb and away you go.
The operating system will pop-up a ballon with "device ready" and away you go!
The logitech fits perfectly in just about any hand, and is ergonomically designed in such a way that the buttons are just right-there when you need them. The click-scroll wheel, comes in really handing when surfing the web, away from the keyboard, meaning you can read pdf documents without the need for manual scrolling up and down using the keyboard!
The texture on the mouse is almost like a pearl, smooth finish, making it easy to grip and hold onto, but not so easy to leave all those horrible messy fingerprints you tend to get with the glossy, black finish types!
This is one of the best mice Ive really come across, it seems to have everything youd ever need.
Portability, speed....oh and the accuracy
Yes this mouse is very accurate, from general speed to pin-point accuracy
it delivers on both counts.
I've always been a fan of Golf's
, but the Mk4 just takes the biscuit! When you've just about had enough time to get over the smooth bodywork, (and check out those alloys!)
Upon opening the car door, the interior is very impressive for a hatchback, with leather upholstery and urban chick dashboard.
In terms of the driving experience , this thing is quick, I mean 0-60 mph certainly feels like seconds, and will literally PIN u in your seat and refuses to let go! One of the safest things about the Golf range ( but in particular, The mk 4 model) is the 0-60 back down to 0 mph again.
In short the stopping distance is very impressive, making accidents I guess less likely , when of course driving with due care and attention.
The torque especialliy surpirsed me about the Mk4, driving up the hill near to where I live , normally (in my renault clip sport I'd have to change from 4th gear down to 3rd and I would ascend the gradient of this hill, but in the Golf I can actually stay in 4th gear without the all familar chug-chug of the engine!
Fuel Economy is obviously a slight sore spot when it comes to cars as nippy as these, but the old adage, "its how you drive the car that counts" will have a bearing on what you guy/galls will be shelling out on fuel each week., (at least to some degree!)
Fresh from reviewing the ipad, I get to review this little puppy dog!
Ok, well firstly what a phone. er, ,mp3, no movie player, sorry
ar web browser...nah..you not tellin me it does them all?
oh you are..yep indeedie This ladies 'n gen does everything, touch sensitive,
with the original pinch, multi gesture controls from Apple.
Firstly it is easy to forget this little bad boy, is a phone first and foremost, so whats it like.
Well, you can quick dial, programme dial, or voice dial (by speaking the person's name!) The connections speed seem very fast, and when you speak voice clarity (digital quality) is unparalleled, even to the point of hearing the dog from 12 blocks aways from the person youre speaking to, yapping away, like a blummin Banshee! Lmao!
The iphone is know for providing a platform (Iphone apple store) at which to download new applications, these are too varied to mention in such a brief review sufficit to say, some of these are world class!
For me its the ability to combine a cool mobile phone, world beating mp3 player, and web browser all one!
Just to touch upon that , the web browsing is UN B-e-l-i-v-e-a-b-l-e-! Just to be able to scroll through webpages in their native format, utilizing the touch sensitive controls seems to put you right in the action...
Bound to be short listed for gadget of the decade..
definitley deserves to be a contender!
when this camera first came out I was completely blown away!
I had never even thought about the idea of having a camera with 2 lcd panels...the things they think up nowadays?
The main idea behind this Samsung is to be in a situation where you and (say) your partner, are on holiday and you wish to have a kodak moment (lol !) and there 's noone around to take that all important shot, with this camera you can tap the front of the panel and up pops an image of you, and your missus, staring right at you!
Ok, that was an over view.
The camera packs an impressive 4x optical zoom with an Schneider lens (German i think). The lens reacts very well, and having used it for months always seem lighting fast to refocus, even when using the macro mode!
The chasis on this model is sound, but rather light weight, (so as with a lot of newer models would probably not surive much of a fall!)
The samsung takes movie mode with audio, suprisingly the audio quality is surprisingly good, with speach even at a distance being rendered clear and crisp.
The ST500 is remarkably easy to use, as with many of the later samung models it remains for the main part intuitive, and as simple as possible.
It remains to be seen whether the main feature (the ability to take self portraits more easily!) is just a gimmick or a genuine U.S.P (unique selling point!)
No matter, this is a great little camera, regardless....
If you and the wife (or girlfreind) commute abroad ..it may just be a MUST.
