When we think about it one of the most used objects in a lot of our daily lives is the keyboard, and it is because of this it's important to make sure you get one that is comfortable for you. So after many years of use on an old HP keyboard I thought it was time for a new upgrade as the letters were starting to wear of and one of the keys was starting to become temperamental. So onward I went on a mission to find a replacement.
Now to be honest when I was looking for a new keyboard to replace a rather old one for the PC downstairs I picked this one on price rather than any major reason. It was on sale for £10 and with Dell being a trusted brand I went and bought it.
The keyboard was well packaged in it's box and is so easy to set up you don't even need to reset the computer. Just find the USB end and plug it into a USB slot usually at the back of your computer, and that's it all set up.
The Quiet Key bit of the name did interest me but in my opinion I didn't find too much of a difference in noise, though what i've found with 'noisier keyboards' is that you soon blank out the noise anyway, so don't get it solely for the reason you think it's going to be a quiet keyboard. Also don't worry if you don't have a Dell computer, it will still work for many other brands due to it being a USB peripheral.
The plastic shell it is in is easy to clean and it's an easy to maintain keyboard. This keyboard is excellent for basic office use and daily use, and like other Dell keyboards i've had in the past the comfort of the user while using the keyboard has been well thought out.
After having this keyboard for about 2 months now i've still not had any problems with it, and i'd definitely recommend it to others. It's a pleasure to use and a bargain from a trusted brand that is Dell.
This case is black with a faux leather material which is quite thick. The thickness means that it should help reduce the risk of your dearly beloved blackberry being damaged if it is 'accidentally' dropped. My blackberry named Borris has survived many knocks and bumps thanks to this case. It's simply a very well made pouch.
The appearance of this case is very suitable for a business or formal environment due to the colour and look of material. This means it will fit with any outfit or social event and never go out of fashion and will always look smart. The case is very well made and very robust which should last longer than the life of the phone itself. As a tip don't buy this case in the phone shop as you will be paying a lot more than you would be doing if you look on the internet. I was offered this case for £20 when I bought my phone, yet ended up getting it for less than £5 on Amazon which proves it's always best to look around for different prices.
The case seems to be resistance to light scratches and still looks like new. My phone fits lovely and snug inside this case while at the same time it's tight enough that it won't slip out of its case. When you put the phone in the blackberry (most likely by using light sensors) will turn its screen off. This allows it to conserve energy and help the battery life last longer. Then when you remove the phone from the case the screen light pops back on. What i've noticed with the new OS for the blackberry is that when you do put it in the case and the screen goes off, then the phone is locked (if you have that feature as on) and then even if you bring it out of the case one second later it is still locked which can be annoying having to keep re entering your password in to the phone, especially if you are having a conversation by text with someone but want to keep it in its case while you are waiting for a reply.
Overall this case is very well made, smart and professional looking compared to a lot of other blackberry cases which can come of quite cheap and tacky.
When typing up documents, it can be a tedious task which is made worst when you have to constantly keep turning your head to look at the sheet with the information you are using or copying. This clipboard style stand as shown in the picture above is a great way to read notes comfortably while typing at your computer.
When looking round on amazon a month a go I was just having a wander round as you do and came across this genius of an idea. It looks such an obvious solution but one I'd never used. So using some gift vouchers I had I decided to take a shot and buy this as I thought at a student I would hopefully get much use out of this product.
When it had finally arrived at my house and been unpackaged I placed it on my desk next to my computer. It was easy to set up and din't take up to much room either. The only downside I felt was that the plastic and design did have a slight cheap-ish look to it however this wasn't bought on its aesthetics but rather it's ability at its job.
Since this purchase has been made it has made it so much easier for me and also quicker when typing up my notes from class and due to it's easel at the back and design it can be put down flat so it's fully portable which is a great feature especially for students.
If the portability side of things isn't at all of use or importance to you then it would be cheaper to just make your own but if you don't mind splurging on an impulse buy then this is a great product which you will use a lot more than you thought you would do.
When watching movies on my macbook I always feel like it would look so much better if it was on a bigger screen. I'm sure we've all thought this to ourselves on more than one occasion when watching movies on our computers. When I had a projector at my disposal I didn't waste any time trying to hook the thing up to my macbook. Now being the fool that I am I soon realized that none of the ports were matching, with my research I found that I was going to need an adaptor. Looking on Apples website store I found the one I was looking for, for my macbook. Being the great bargain hunter I am, a quick internet search showed me many cheaper alternatives. The question you may now be asking is why this brand. I decided to choose this brand due to the fact that they give life warranty on the product, which I thought was a great added bonus and was what made it my choice of purchase.
Now when getting an adaptor do make sure it's the right endings, as newer models of MacBooks no longer use DVI but mini display ports. Since the laptop in question that I was making the purchase for was an older generation MacBook I needed the DVI to VGA port.
Please double check this before you make any purchases.
The build of the product is of a good standard so that it is hard wearing and will last a long time. It's very easy to set up and the length is ok, however make sure the wire will be long enough for your needs as sometimes you may feel it will not be sufficient for what is required. As this is only 20 cm long I do feel that sometimes it can be a bit to short for what I need. The great thing I liked about this is that no software is needed to be installed it just works straight away and allows me to watch movies and use my computer screen at a much larger size.
Over all a good buy considering the Apple version is more expensive but does the exact same job with no technical experience needed to set it up.
When on my travels around europe I thought that as I would be staying in hostels buying a travel pillow would be a great investment with the fact I could also use it when traveling around on the trains.
Having looked at this pillow on the internet I decided this would be a suitable pillow for me according to it's product description and its affordable price. This would be a great buy for when space is limited such as fitting it in your backpack. My first use of this product was when I was in a hostel in Amsterdam. Getting it out of my rucksack and out of the small draw-stringed bag that it comes in was easy and hassle free due to the sizing of the packaging being easy to access yet keeps the pillow to a small size.
The pillow itself has a lovely and soft fleece cover and the soft fibre filling gives your head comfortable and reasonable support yet allows it to keep it's shape when used again. Thanks to this cushion I had a wonderful nights sleep, when it was time to pack up the pillow bag in to its draw string bag all you have to simply do is roll it up. I could do this with great ease so i'm sure you could to. It fitted back in to its little bag reasonably well without any trouble and still went back to it's original compact former self.
I also found my self using this when on long haul train rides at night, I felt this made them 12 hour journeys that bit more bearable and a must to add to your list if you are doing long haul traveling due to the comfort it can provide you with. I also used this at a later date camping and found it to still have kept it's great comfort levels and shape when removed from it's bag. It's hard wearing and good for camping especially if you are doing proper camping and trekking where you are only with a backpack.
Overall this travel pillow has many uses due to it's size and comfort it offers you. I'd definitely invest in one when traveling and a tip for when it's not in use is to just leave it in your car so it's there if you're ever in the need for a bit of comfort.
So I was feeling in the mood to treat myself to some small luxuries, when by chance I got an email from The Body Shop telling me about a sale. So being the sale loving guy that I am, I speedily opened the website to see what offers where available. Looking through the pages I saw this raspberry body puree. Now I was debating whether to try this product but with the sun shining so bright compared to the dull weather we've had recently and the sound of raspberries it was just all the more tempting.
Anyway a few days later it arrives. (Yes I did give in to temptation, please be kind hehe). Now I have quite dry skin from having being roaccutane the last year. The very first thing I did was smell the product. I got a gorgeous fresh and fruity scent that brought back memories of fresh smoothies I used to make as a kid. This nostalgic fragrance means to me this was already a winner but also the fact it's a unisex scent.
Considering this is called a puree I was debating with myself if it would be quite sticky, so being the such brave adventurous man I am I rubbed a bit within my hand. It was very smooth and not sticky at all and all my worries went with the wind.
I now use this all over my body as the temperatures warm up a bit, however I would advise that the body butters would be much better suited when it comes to winter dry skin as I find that this is quite a light body moisturiser. It's a joy to use and great for the summer, but also makes you smell absolutely divine and everyone comments so tempting I smell ;) haha and my skin is silky smooth without being greasy which the body butters can cause on the skin in hot weather.
A great positive about buying this puree over other brands is that the packaging is fully recyclable and that the ingredients is ethically sourced.
I'd seen this little guy on many novelty gift websites in the past but never thought of purchasing one even though i did find it an intriguing item. Then at christmas as I was opening my stocking presents, this little guy was laid out before me in his rather comical pose.
It's a bright shiny red and looked of a good quality.
Now i'm occasional to sharing a bottle of wine with good friends but this little fella has brought a new and funny side to the experience. It's just the same as using a cork if not easier and due to it's resistant material it can be easily wiped clean. Now to try and explain the size and also try to keep this bit clean, (naughty!). The cork part of the cork stopper is very disproportionate to the rest of the stopper however this is what gives this product such a comical feeling about it.
It's easy to use and has received a good reaction from friends and family. I wouldn't use this if there was children present just to keep things clean for them, however when you have a couple of friends round this is a great little gadget to have in your kitchen and is a great conversation starter and start you're evening to a hilarious evening.
Also this would make a great little stocking gift or even a secret santa gift due to it's relatively cheap price, from my research online found them usually under £5 and a lot of places stock them, so don't delay go get you a happy man!
I came across this product when browsing the online retailer firebox, retailing at £6.99 with free delivery, thought i'd give it a try since i haven't seen anything like this before (only ever seen wipes and sprays on the market) to do this job. There are two fragrances to choose from, the yellow which smells of citrus and the blue which is a minty fragrance. Coming in a tub of 140g the texture is rubbery and has a funny feeling at first which you will soon get used to.
When I first used this product it took some getting used to, but when you get the knack to it, it's as easy as pie. Just place it on the keyboard and just press the goo into all the nooks and gaps. It would also be very useful to clean areas such as dashboards in your car where it's hard to reach certain areas with a duster. On the packet there is a colour code so that you know whether it is still any good to use for cleaning with it's unique antibacterial cleaner.
While I had a lot of fun using this product I did find it didn't clean it as effectively as other products on the market would but the fact that it's biodegradable does make it one of the more environmentally friendly options available. It's an easy to use product and the colour code chart to indicate when it's time to throw it away is a great feature to have. It would even make a great little gift or stocking filler.
This funky litter peripheral was announced by Apple on the 27th July 2010. Since then some mac users have no use for their old mice due to this new and intuitive way to navigate around your mac desktop. For me when I first saw this I thought this is really cool and great for those who use imacs but don't get the pleasure of using a trackpad like the macbook (pros) have.
The price - The price for this gadget is £60 (as of 17/3/11). This happens to be more expensive than an actual mouse, and it's even £3 more expensive than their new-ish multi touch mouse however this is a totally different product in it's own way and if you can justify the cost in that you'd get plenty of use out of it then you'll find it a great buy which will hopefully last you many years to come which some mouse's don't.
If you're used to the multi track gestures from on the macbook range then you'll be very happy to know that it's the exact same for this trackpad. If you don't know how to use the gestures and what each one does then not to worry as there are small tutorial clips within the system preferences and even then, they take no time at all to learn and understand as before you know it you'll feel like you've been using it for years.
Some cool facts and features which will help you decide in whether to purchase - The trackpad is actually bigger than the one you find on macbook's by a huge 80%, so if it's size that's worrying you, don't worry you will have plenty of room. This gives you much more room to scroll, swipe and even pinch.
If you have a tidy desk where your imac looks perfectly well suited with the wireless keyboard then you'll be happy to know the magic trackpad fits in and thanks to apples engineers meticulous detail it sits at the same angle and height as the wireless keyboard and so will look right at home along with you're computer set up. It is also wireless so there are no wires getting in the way.
The build is of a good quality as are most Apple products and feels very sturdy.
As you may know though this trackpad, like others, may not be the best option to use when doing more menial tasks where attention to detail is needed such as using photoshop where you will need maximum control over your hand.
Overall a good buy if you can justify the costs, it'll certainly help you be more efficient when doing basic tasks such as internet browsing or using pages.
Lush karma soap as some of you probably predicted, contains the fragrance of the famous lush scent karma.
Price - £3.89
Weight - 100g
Vegan - Yes
The fragrance - The scent of this soap smells just like the other karma fragranced products. It's a warming scent which is great for those lazy days or when in a hot bath. Pine oil and sweet orange oil make this unique and unisex scent so amazing. The fact it's a unisex scent is a great idea by Lush. If you do like the karma fragrance then this soap is a great addition to add to your product range.
Originally got this as a freebie and the scent has grown on me so much that I even bought the atomizer.
The experience - Over all it was a good soap to use and I found it a pleasure to use. It didn't lather up straight away but when you get it going its a great soap and the fragrance did linger for a short while after usage. Not one of my best Lush soaps as it's not as moisturising as soaps such as Lemsip but a great soap to have lying around when you're in the mood for that karma fragrance.
A permanent Lush soap, this is an amazingly fruity and fresh soap, and one you have to try.
Price - £3.10
Weight - 100g
Vegan - Yes
I had never really bothered to try this soap when I went in to Lush. One day a very good work colleague of mine brought me a chunk. The reason being it was named after the TV comedy show on BBC Miranda, the show we always share a good laugh about. Now the scent of this soap is one of favourites.
The fragrance - The smell of this soap is very fruity and one of the stronger scented soaps in the range. There's also a slight sweet smell to it, but over all it's a very refreshing scent and will bring a smile to anyones face.
The experience - I had such a nice shower with this soap, I now even have a chunk to wash my hands with after the toilet, and the lovely fragrance stays on my hands for ages. It's a rather creamy soap and lathers really easy. As with most lush soaps when using it in the shower it soon disappears which is a shame, however after the shower I felt so refreshed and happy, ready to start the day.
Over all it's a great buy to add to your bathroom collection of treats, bergamot oil in the soap which is said to be good for some skin conditions. There is also a tonne of other good stuff in the soap to help brighten and refresh dull looking skin.
This lovely product has come out very recently with Lush's mothers day range. This is a super softening hand moisturiser in solid form.
Price - £3.95
Weight - 60g
Vegan - Yes
The fragrance - This lovely solid hand cream has an undertone smell of sweet vanilla as well as floral tone to it as well. You may even find it smells rather lemony, however, no lemons are in the ingredients. Over all I found this a very sweet, refreshing and comfy scent.
What makes this product super softening on the skin is the fact is contains both cocoa butter and Shea butter, both well known for the softening powers.
The experience - When I used this I found it to be very softening on the skin once it had been absorbed as it can be quite greasy, which is great for usage at night when it has the time to be absorbed. The smell was very relaxing and made it a pleasure to use. Only needed to rub it a few times as it melts at body temperature.
This type of product would make a lovely gift for someone dear to you, but would also be a great substitute to liquid formats as it will stop the risk of spillages.
Just a note - Only the body butter tins as lush will fit this in them.
Don't you just love that smell of freshly mowed grass in the summer? This shower gel from Lush smells just like that and can trigger all your happy memories from past summers to come back to you while you wash.
Vegan - Yes
The fragrance - When you're relaxing in the garden or your local park in the beautiful summer sunshine and what can you smell? The unique and invigorating smell that is freshly cut grass.
Some may find this shower gel expensive compared to Lush's other shower gel happy hippy, however this is the type of shower gel that if you only use it occasionally it'll keep it's special scent amazing each time you use it. It's a great shower gel to treat yourself with and indulge in what memories you can recollect when using this unique scented shower gel.
The ingredient that gives this such a fresh smell is the fresh wheatgerm juice that they use. As you may know wheatgerm juice is full antibodies and has become popular within recent years for it's health benefits. Citrus oils in the shower gel also help brighten your day.
The experience - I had so much fun using this shower gel. It was a cloudy and gloomy day and decided some 'grass' was in order to make things right again. In the shower it let me forget it was the middle of winter and for the few minutes i'm in the shower I felt like I was having a glorious wash on a summer morning with the birds singing and the sun shining while also the distinct smell brining back happy memories of last summer. It's a great start to the day or to just cheer you up from the gloomy weather we've been having recently. It's definitely worth a try and if you're not sure then try ask for a sample at you're local lush. You'll definitely not be disappointed.
Lush solid shampoo + The karma fragrance = One amazing shampoo for your hair
I received this in one of lush's glorious gift boxes. This was the first solid shampoo i've ever tried and I must say the experience of using it was much easier than I thought it would be. If you've never tried a Lush solid shampoo then check them out. The shampoo bar foamed really easily and it lasts for absolute ages.
Price - £4.85
Weight - 55g
Vegan - Yes
The fragrance - The smell of this Lush solid shampoo is divine. If you have ever smelt any of their other karma fragranced products then you'll be happy to know this smells exactly the same. For those of you who haven't had the pleasure to smell the famous karma fragrance before then here is a small insight to this unique and warming scent. Part of the gorilla perfumes scents at Lush, karma is a spicy unique scent with hints of citrus and patchouli.
The experience - Using this as a replacement to liquid shampoos was a lot easier than I had imagined. It foams up so easily and only a few times is needed for it to be rubbed in your hair before there's enough to give it a good wash. It helped keep my hair tangle free, however I felt I definitely needed to condition after using it which I haven't necessarily felt I needed with some of their other solid shampoo bars. The gorgeous scent lingers in your hair all day and has caused me to receive some lovely comments on the smell of my hair. ^_^
Many people use the solid shampoo bars for traveling due to their ease of use and ease of transporting around. This would be useful for traveling however the Godiva shampoo bar may be a better alternative due to the fact it also contains conditioning.
Definitely good for home use and a great way to make you hair look and smell great and all at a good price while supporting an eco friendly company and you also don't need to feel guilty for using the product as Lush's products aren't tested on animals and neither is the sourced ingredient.

Fragrance - The fragrance used in this bath ballistic is quite flowery as Simon Constantine has tried to create a sensual and an aphrodisiacal scent with the use of luxurious jasmine, neroli and rosewood.
The experience - Only one word can some up this amazing bath ballistic and that word is beautiful. The bath water turns an simply relaxing green, you will then see the bright red lips floating around the bath as they are made from cocoa butter which will help moisturise the skin as it acts as a miniature bath melt.
