Bought this fridge freezer second hand and initially was really pleased with it, it looks great and has cold water and ice (cubed or crushed) on tap which kids love!!
Theres loads of space in the fridge but the freezer is pretty small so not ideal if like me you like to cook batches of curry, chilli etc and freeze them.
We'd had this for a few months when it started to go wrong, first noticed the temperature dropping in the freezer and spoiling the food, the fridge although the electronic display showed the temperature was fine, also started to get warmer. We noticed the fridge had started to make a loud whirring noise which only stopped when yo opened the door. We defrosted it and the noise stopped for a while but soon started again along with the temperature rising and food being spoilt.
We didn't want to spend money getting someone out to look at it if it couldn't be fixed so did a bit of digging and lo and behold, on youtube there's a watchdog programme saying Samsung had agreed that this unit "was not fit for purpose" and had agreed to replace the cooling units in these free of charge! Rang the number, they got someone out the next day who replaced the cooling unit-problem solved!Hope this helps someone-it's been fine ever since.
My husband, myself and our 11 year old son stayed at the Melia Alicante for 4 days in August. We booked the hotel as we'd managed to get some cheap flights and the hotel was situated with the harbour on one side and the beach on the other. That unfortunately was the most positive point!
When we arrived at the hotel our room had only one double bed and despite being promised another bed would be put in the room, this only arrived after 9pm and was basically a z-bed. The room itself was basic and very tired, the balcony was tiny, having space for a very small coffee table and 2 chairs-there was no light on the balcony.
The hotel pool was very small with almost no chance of a sunbed unless you were out at the crack of dawn laying down towels. We ate in the hotel restaurant only once , the food was average, the atmosphere non-existant and the maitre d' surly and rude. The hotel was cheap booked through expedia and walking distance to most of the bars/restaurants etc, as they say, you get what you pay for!
Fabulous! The Bellagio is probably the best hotel we have ever stayed in and we've stayed in a few! Absolute luxury, very classy, the reception alone will take your breathe away, their bill for fresh flowers must be massive.
We checked in (after 5 days at the MGM Grand which was nice but not in the same League as The Bellagio) feeling like the poor relations visiting from out of town! We'd heard that if you passed a $20 note to the receptionist they would upgrade your room, doubt if it made any difference at all but we did get a lovely room overlooking the fountains which again were fabulous, there's a channel on the TV that plays the music that corresponds to the fountains movements, sitting looking out of your window with a glass of champagne watching the fountains dance to "Viva Las Vegas!" is something else.
The pool area was beautiful, immaculate, lovely comfy sunbeds, quiet, classy and breathtakingly beautiful.
If you smoke, you can smoke in the casino which is great because it's a long walk to the front door, beautiful casino with plentiful free drinks (don't forget to tip the waitress a dollar) The other person to tip a dollar is the bell boy at the taxi rank in front of the hotel-this is a sight to see as they expertly put guests in taxis at a rate of knots, palming a dollar from each, according to one of the casino staff they can easily make £2,500 to £ 3000 dollars per week!!
Vegas itself is wonderful, we picked the hotel mainly because we thought it was in a central position and really that didn't matter, we thought we would be walking along the strip from hotel to hotel, you could but it would take you probably 15 minutes to get from reception in one hotel to reception in the one next door. Don't waste a minute of your time in Vegas--get a taxi!
Oh, and if you can afford to, pay a bit extra to stay at the Bellagio!
Ooooh you must see this! Had no idea what all the fuss was about but after listening to our godson muttering "what's occurin?" for the tenth time we bought the boxed set Series One and it's lovely!
Boy meets girl, Gavin living in Essex and Stacey living in Wales talk on the phone for months then arrange to meet in London and both take a friend ( Nessa and Smithy) Nessa is a force to be reckoned with and sooo funny, wot my mother would call an "unconscious comedian"Ruth Jones is fabulous as Nessa and she actually wrote this with James Corden .Rob Bryden as the uncle is absolutely hysterical and I'm sure can pick and choose his roles after this.
Cant wait to see Series 2, dont know which channel this was on but quite glad to have watched it on DVD with no distractions, it's not new any more so you can buy it quite cheaply online or in the supermarkets. Treat yourself, it's real feelgood stuff!
We went to the Hilton Caledonian after booking a room in the Hilton sale in Jan 09, had always wanted to stay there and it was supposedly a half price sale (we paid £119 for the night) We paid an extra £10 for a castle view but when we got there we were advised that no rooms with castle view were available! Wasn't happy with this so they agreed to upgrade us to a suite which had a castle view, sounded good but the suite whilst big ( bedroom and living room area with couch and chair, both rooms with flat screen tv's)it was very dull and worn, apparently they have re-furbished rooms, this obviously wasnt one of them so might be a good idea to ask when booking!
Went to the bar for a drink, we were told rather abruptly to sit down at a table, waited 10 mins and left, no one tried to stop us.
The location however is excellent, the hotel is ok, just not what you'd expect from a 5 star Hilton, the distinguised gentleman on the door was a delight!
Spent 4 nights here March 09, Monday to Friday and relaxed completely!
The lodge was lovely, very clean and well equipped with everything you need, two bedrooms, one with a huge shower in the en-suite and one with a bath. The lodges are set round either the main lake (view of the lake and caravans on the other side) or round the pond, (view of the pond and other lodges accross it).
The park is walking distance to the village of Brandesburton, the lodges are furthest away from the entrance (there are static caravans, tourers and the reception/bar/shop area nearer the road) so say 5 mins to park entrance and 5 mins from there to village. As previously mentioned theres a Chinese (fine) fish and chips (didnt try it) and two pubs serving food. One of the pubs , Dacre Arms, was really busy and the food was lovely. There were menus in the park reception (but not in the lodge) and you can ring and order a meal and go pick it up! It's all plated, covered in foil exactly like you'd get eating in the pub! All they ask is you take the plates back the next day, lovely.
Best bits- hot tub, Hornsea outlets (only Laura Ashley outlet in the North) Beverley-lovely town to visit.
Didnt like-cant think of a thing-enjoy.
