The third instalment andjus to say-- The Third Gears Is Amazing - lets get that out of the way first. There are still some slight things that still let it down though. The campaign takes a bit from bulletstorm in the way it tells the story, it is good and has some emotional moments. There is a lack of danger alot of the time. You don't feel scared or rushed because the cinematics take front seat. The ending is acceptable but the boss battle seemed fairly bland.
This really is a good game though. The online is really well balanced, fun and competitive and all the other modes are really fun. Horde mode in particular is very good on this game altough quite difficult as you pass through the stages. The graphics are bright and crisp and the controls almost perfect, with a few slight adjustments if you played the first two installments.
I bought this game when it first came out my im new to here so here is my review. Set in a world were Mankind is failing, the team of infamous heroes continue to battle against the deadly locust hordes. For the evil that lay under the grounds of Earth, did not perish in their previous encounter with humanity and a new story of depth and dispair shall unravel.
Gears of War 2 holds with in it a different and dynamic edge to console gaming. The first, i thought was an interesting if slightly dull shooter, however this one caught my attention from the start.
The best bits!
GoW2 has added plenty of new stuff for you to play with in several fairly long chapters. The creatures have been made to challenge the player far more and are now varied rather then the same damp figures that you used to fight against. The multiplayer on this game is also something of interest, although i never played the first mutliplayer, i found GoW2 to be extremely fun! The 50 levels of Horde mode were indeed one of my favourite add-ons. But were this game excels the most, is in its campaign. The story, although 'macho' and ultimately awesome, was also increasingly 'touching'. There is a scene in one chapter (won't spoil anything) which made me think "This game has just reached a new level" in terms of seriousness and over all brilliance to the story.
The "slightly" bad bit..
Not much to say really, apart from the gamerscore that requires you to get "100,000 Kills" and the other "10,000 online matches". These i found were ridiculous and should be possibly replaced with atleast a possibility of non-powergamers to gain them.
In the End, Gears 2 is a fantastic game with superb graphics, story and game play. Also if your looking to buy now its only going to cost around £20.00!!!
Great game here is a little breakdown of what i thought of it.
EA games has brought out numerous football games and in turn, i have collected and played near on every single one, from fifa 96 to road to world cup, to FIFA 11. I'll say it right now. If you enjoy a realistic game with gorgeous graphics and a simply brilliant atmosphere that is set by the game, you'll feel like your sitting in the top end at Stamford Bridge. Replay value is huge. Play career as a single player, then as a manager, or why not even both? online play is fantastically competitive and yet somewhat forgiving for new players due to EA skill matching system. New passing system is very fluid and motion of players is highly realistic.
The only bad points i can compare with other titles would be the new penalty system which is almost too simplified. hold a direction and hope it goes in? FIFA 10's was superb, and also free kicks have been made relentlessly hard!
A superb instalment for EA, once again knocking Pro evolution down the ladder. If you own FIFA 10, you could question an upgrade, but if you have the cash, this one is not to be missed.
I havent really played the single player campaign because you dont by a game like this for the single player compatability so this a an online gameplay review.
People have been saying that you can't compare Black Ops to MW2 because they are from different developers, but I'm afraid that's all you can do. IW are the benchmark developers with Cod 4 and MW2 being the best FPS games around.
Black Ops in my opinion is an OKAY game, not life changing just pretty average. The whole online gamepley is slow in comparison to not just MW2, but also Battlefield Bad Company and MOH. The graphics have taken a serious step back by at least 6-7 years, everything is just so cartoon like on BO and patchy. The weapons are generally pretty poor with the exception of a couple, the grenades and other explosives are pointless as they have less power than a flying potato. The perks and killstreaks are worse than MW2 in which is an older game, surely they should have improved on them? The customisation is designed for kids, but being an adult rated game has no real place except for the less social people out there that spend ALOT of time on there own. The money system was interesting for all of about 2 minutes until you start to wonder why it is there?
The plus points are: Maps are pretty well thought out as always with Treyarch.... That's all I can think of for now!? I'm not going to be childish and give it 1 star because a 1 star game is unplayable but as an average game it gets an honest 3 stars. This will be my last Treyarch purchase as I thought WAW was also an average game. Hope this helps some people that may still be undecided about buying this game.
I bought this game and i really think that its an amazing game. Even though it's been out for a while, it is still loads better than a lot of the new stuff on the market
The gold edition is best for value money. It contains resident evil 5 game plus ALL the downloadable content all for a few quid more. It would cost more to download the extra levels included in the gold edition. That's before you look at, versus mode, costumes and other add ons. So great value. It does cost a lot more now though to download than buy. Although it is very easy just downloaded it at home. With a decent enough broadband connection it only takes about 20-30 mins to download the entire game.
Something that i did find very strange with this edition is that all of the add ons are given in a code format and you have to then download the same rather than just having maybe an extra disc and getting all the info of that.
One of the best parts of this game though i feel is the multi player campaign. Top stuff and it is not over in a few hours like a lot of games in these genres are.
All in all top game and difinately worth a purchase.
