The book begins, in 2007, by the telling the story of paraplegic Will Traynor who became disabled when he was hit by a motorcycle. Before the accident Will was a spontaneous city boy who enjoyed mountain climbing and other thrill seeking activities. But now being wheelchair ridden, dependant completely on others Will is struggling to come to terms with his life and his future.
The story then jumps forward to 2009 where the reader meets Louisa, a waitress at the Buttered Bun Cafe who wears very odd clothing. The money that she earns from the Cafe goes to support her family, however when the owner of the Cafe decides to close it down, it seems that Lousia is in big trouble! After attending the Job Centre many times and endless failed interviews, her advisor suggests applying for a carer job that would change her life forever.
After Will's accident he is forced to move back home and rely on his wealthy parents for care, however unbeknown to Lousia when she is offered the job, Will considers his life not worth living and therefore wants to travel to Switzerland to end his life completely.
The story follows the efforts of Lou to change Will's mind by organising different activities to show Will that he can still have a fulfilling life even though he's disabled.
The book has laugh out loud moments as well as very emotional parts. The ending of the story came as a big shock to me as it is a totally different outcome than you would think throughout the story. A VERY good read!
I recently moved house and after a couple of months, decided that I needed to set up broadband at home.
I scoured the internet for a good deal and eventually went for this offering from BT, partly because broadband was free for the first 3 months.
To start with everything was brilliant.. reception, internet speed, and I also treated myself to Xbox Live to use along with the hub.
Everything was working well until a few weeks ago where I have had a lot of problems.
Whenever I go online on Xbox now, the games lag all the time, and quite often my broadband light on the Hub flashes orange (all 3 lights on the hub should be a steady blue colour).
I have called BT on a couple of occasions but they can't seem to work out where the problem is, could be a number of things, I live in a rural town, and if you do too I suggest you think twice before going ahead with this package.
For all I know it could be poor service in my area but I looked it up and it is normall between very good and excellent, so I am confused as to why it runs so slow.
Also online websites such as youtube and the like seem to take ages to view.
I received the George Foreman "fat reducing grilling machine" as a Christmas present a good few years ago now.
I'd seen the advert on TV and thought it would be a fun and different way to cook dinner, rather than the usual oven or frying pan.
What also appealed to me before receiving it and trying it out, was the lack of washing up compared to making tea on average, where usually there are dozens of pots and pans waiting to be washed up.
So along came Christmas and I ot to try it out at last.
First i wiped it with a damp snonge before-hand to clean it properly, then set about turning it on.
The grill gets very hot very quickly so beware of kids etc and mind your fingers!!
I cooked bacon for a bacon sandwich in the grill, using the grease-catching tray (which was supplied with the gril) to good effect, as it catches all the fat created from cooking which drains down the grill.
There are 3 modes of cooking where you can move the grill closer to or further away from your food depending on if you are in a rush/starving or not!
If you, like me are not a morning person, and feel the only way to start your day properly is with a refreshing shower, then this is the shower gel to buy!!!
The mint and tea tree blend perfectly to give you a refreshed and full of energy feeling all over your body.
It's hard to explain but it makes you feel tingly, if you understand me!
I looked into researching this particular product and discovered that 8000 real mint leaves are packed into each bottle, so you know you are getting a natural, organic experience when you wash with an original source product.
And for under £1 a bottle, you really can't go wrong.
I have tried many different varieties of shower gel but this remains my favourite, it really does start your day and wakes you up, and most importantly it leaves you smelling even better than you feel!
Great product, great results, can be used as a face wash too, if you like me occasionly suffer from spots.. it helps to clear the oily skin built up from day to day life.
So what are you waiting for, get out there and tingle!!!
I received this babyliss I-Trim for Christmas last year from a family member, as I had often complained about my wet razor leaving me with rashes everytime I shaved, so this was bought for me and it is fantastic!!
I don't have to worry about wet shaving now, as this shaver has 30 length settings, from 0.5mm to 15mm, perfect for any look or style of beard/moustache!
It takes 10 hours to charge after purchase, I charged mine on Christmas Day, and have used it 5 times since and not had to charge it since that day, although on the instructions of use, it states that 90 minutes charge gives 30 minutes shaving time, and there is an indicator on the sleek screen which shows how much charge is left.
It takes no time at all to shave my face and glides effortlessly through my facial fuzz, like an aeroplane in the sky!
The razor does not need oiling or anything extra, just test the length you want and shave away without worrying about digging into your skin!
I was shopping with my girlfriend in ASDA, for household bits and bobs for our new house, (we needed a lot of things as it was our first place together) and scoured ASDA's aisles for bargains.
This kettle caught my other half's eye straight away when our shopping list came to "kettle" mainly because of the blue glow that was shown of the kettle on the packaging.
At £9 we didn't hesitate in putting this stylish and elegant looking kettle into our trolley straight away.
We arrived home and unpacked all the new purchases.
Gasping for a drink, I suggested we try out our new purchase, so rinsed it out and started to fill the kettle.
Along the side shows helpful measurements in cup sizes so you know how much to pour into your cup.
I filled to just past 2 cups and switched on.
The attractive, blue light started to glow as soon as I pressed the boil button, and took no longer than 90 seconds to boil.
Does its job, water temperature plenty hot enough, and stays hot for a good 20 minutes.
All in all, this is a great looking kettle at a great price and would definately buy more brands from ASDA, wether it may be a kettle or toaster etc.
I bought this netbook, from an online seller a few months back, and was very cautious, because I had never before owned a Laptop, and with it being second-hand, there were obviously doubts at the back of my mind.
Luckily enough, my doubts soon cleared anfter first use of this computer.
It is a very smart, easy to use netbook, ideal for people looking to surf the web, email and many other things.
Mine has Windows 7 installed, offering fast broadband and good download speeds.
I am typing this review from the model reviewed, and I use it all the time!!
I used to use my desktop computer, but became tired of sitting on my uncomfortable chair, so decided to go for a portable machine so now I can surf while i'm watching tv, or sat in bed which is ideal!
To conclude, if you are looking for a laptop that does a good job and if you're not really interested in all the extras that more expensive designs have, then this is ideal for you.
I bought myself the Sandisk Sansa Clip 2GB a couple of years ago as I had just joined a gym and needed some music for motivation!!!
I did think of getting another Ipod, but my previous model was stolen so this time I wanted something cheaper, more compact and something I wouldn't miss if it were to get stolen or lost.
The Clip is very easy to use, easy to sync from my media player, and overall a good little player for its price.
After a couple of weeks though, the headphones began to deteriate and sound became muffled, so I replaced the headphones with a better brand (Sony), and the problem was soon fixed.
The 2GB memory is perfect if you dont have time to upload thousands of tracks, I have 500 songs on my player and still have sufficient space for plenty more.
To conclude, I would advise this little player (which clips onto your trouser line or pocket hense the name) is perfect if your budget is under £50, but be aware of the quality of the headphones.. Don't expect Ipod quality, but at the same time, I don't think you will be dissappointed with this product.
A few years ago I was an avid Listerine user, does a great job but I found it very strong and just like the advert on tv it blew my head off!
So I needed something milder yet still effective like the Listerine range.
I opted for Dentyl (partly because of the price - you've gotta go for the special offers haven't you!)
The two tone colours of the wash intrigued me too so I didn't hesitate and opted to buy.
The next morning I gave it a go, reading the instructions, so first I shook the bottle as instructed, and watched on as the two green colours combined.. I would imagine this would be quite fun for kids to use to see the colours change, but as I don't have any children, I was the one having the fun!!!
I swished and swiled for 30 seconds and spat out, and to my surprise many bits had formed, meaning I could see the bacteria and nasties that were in my mouth! It left a minty and fresh sensation in my oral home, and I will definately continue using this product in the future!
The first game I bought for my Xbox 360 was FIFA 11. At the time I was a FIFA virgin, but a couple of days inot playing it, I became hooked. Months passed where I would spend time with my girlfriend and play FIFA 11, the two often fighting for my attention.. I then moved house and left it in its box and forgot about it for a while.
Soon after, FIFA 12 came out, and having a healthy bank balance at the time, I decided to purchase it along with Xbox Live.
And what a purchase it was.
I thought FIFA 11 would be hard to beat but 12 beats it on every level. Great graphics, brilliant online mode - I always play head to head seasons where you start at division 9 and play against strangers online to hopefully reach division 1, the summit of fifa (like i did)!
Another favourite of mine is the online friendlies section where you can play against friends online, always nice to beat your mates!!
Career mode has improved since last year, with transfer deadline day an exciting time with players to-ing and fro-ing from clubs, just like in the real Premier League!
Overall the gameplay is fantastic, master the defending and you will master the game, I will tell you no more but let you find out yourself what a gem of a video game this is!
The day I bought my Fiat Grande Punto was a strange one..I knew that I needed to get myself a new vehicle as my car at the time (a 2001 Peugeot 206) was on its last legs, so I set about the task of visiting car manufacturers in the city, after visiting at least 4 garages/dealers with little success, I came to the 5th, and poor old Peugeot completely clapped out there and then. Realising that I had to kiss goodbye to the Pug i looked round the dealers showroom and outside, and realised that my next motor would be very near.
The cars at the said dealer were all very similar.. Hatchbacks, mainy kia's, punto's and the like. My eyes scouted every car there, nothing satisfied me until i came across a nifty looking black punto in the corner.
I'd always thought of punto's as a bit of a girly car, but this particular model looked smart and elegant, so I thought there and then i'd ask the dealer for a test drive.
3 and a half years later I can honestly say it was the best purchase i've made.
Great econony.. I get 65 miles to the gallon on average, rides smootly, lovely steering, nice features inside and out.
Would reccommend this to anyone.
I bought this phone on a 24 month contract from Vodafone in 2010, and i'll tell you the bad news straight away, it didn't last for half the contract. So many problems encountered.. when browsing the web 8 times out of 10 it would randomly freeze, sometimes after half an hour, others after just 2 minutes.
My model seemed to constantly turn itself off, which I found incredibly irritating, especially during an important phonecall, or an epicly long text message!
I do regret not taking out insurance on the phone, as it died after a year and had to use my old-school nokia 3330 (which I am still using to this day)!
I was dissappointed with the camera and "great video" features, found the picture very blurry and detail was poor.
I have had over 15 mobile phones in my time but this model ranks number 1 as the worst yet and hopefuuly worst ever i will come across!!
I bought this ipod about 7 or so years ago and it remains to be the only piece of apple kit to my collection!! It is a small, sleek and lightweight bit of kit, ideal for teens and people on the move.
Obviously as technology has developed in the last few years, this model may not be as sought after as it once was, but it still does me fine.
it is extremely easy to use.. you can select from a number of menus.. Artist/Album/song or you can even play songs at random (ipod call this shuffle) to give you a mixture of your favourite songs while you are doing the housework/on the train or sudying hard!
I'd reccommend this to anyone looking for an ipod at a low price, simply because it does its job and in my opinion does it very well.
So get out there and buy it!
