The Body Shop Banana conditioner comes in a 250ml clear, plastic bottle...which is 100% recycled plastic. The labelling states that community trade banana purée is used which is lovely that aspects of the environment and trading has been taken into consideration! The conditioner resembles banana purée in appearance (dark yellow). It's quite thick in texture so it doesn't all squirt out of the bottle. The smell is absolutely gorgeous it's strong but not overpowering. It's a sweet, fresh real banana scent.
After drying my hair I notice I can't really smell the conditioner (maybe I'm not using enough) but for me smelling it when applying it is enough. I have coloured hair and this conditioner hasn't in any way had an effect on it. My hair does feel soft and shiny after use, but I wouldn't say a dramatic improvement in comparison to my other conditioner. It's nice to have found a conditioner which smells gorgeous and is quite different to the other normal conditioners on the market...but also that works just as well. I'll be repurchasing.
My first ever lush purchase was this product! Mainly because of the smell which can be best described as sweet, similiar to the love heart sweets, a berry kind of scent. The comforter is a bubble bar and is a nice thick size and so it can easily be broken up and used in three or four baths. The product looks lovely with pink and white swirls. Its quite firm in texture so it won't easily crumble away in your bag. But its easy enough to crumble when using in the bath.
After using a quarter of this product, crumbling it under the running tap of your bath the water turns a pink shade and the scent definately fills the room. Most importantly though it does create a nice amount of bubbles. I wouldn't say it produces as much bubbles as a dollop of other liquid bubble bath products but that mainly depends on how much of the comforter you use. If you use a bigger portion there are more bubbles. This can depend on personal preference. The water also leaves the skin feeling soft and silky... even when in the bath. When emptying the bath water there is no residue left on the tub like some coloured bath products.
I'd highly reccomend this product. The only slight downfall is the recent increase in price to almost £5. Some people also may not like sweet smells, or pink bath water so this may not be for you. However it is a nice portion of around 200g and it definately gives you a nice, sweet comforting bath.
Soap and Glory's 'Scrub Your Nose In It' is a facial scrub/cleanser, designed to help with pores and blemishes. This can be purchased at a 125ml size for around about £7 in Boots. The packaging is its staple baby pink with their quirky vintage styled, colourful titles.
The product can be squeezed out through the usual plastic lid. The actual product itself is a light green/blue colour which has a minty, fresh scent to it. Quite different to their usual sweet, perfumed scent in other products. The consistency is lovely it's thick but not heavy, so when applying to the face it stays on well and doesn't drop off, its almost clay like and does have very small pieces of sand/beads which help exfoliate the skin The packaging says to use a thin amount on a damp face, massaged gently in the t-zone then spread out to the rest of the face . It can be rinsed off or alternatively left on for a few minutes as to 'brighten and cleanse skin'. This may depend on how much time you have. When the product is on your face it can tingle, which some may find uncomfortable. After washed off the skin feels and smells fresh and soft. I didn't notice a dramatic difference in pores although I do feel and have noticed a slight difference on my nose. I do feel that it definately cleanses and freshens up the skin, however in terms of refining pores and preventing blemishes perhaps this takes time or may depend on skin type. I'll definately be repurchasing as you don't need to use much product so you do get a lot of uses out of it!
After seeing this on the counter in a lush store I had to purchase it. The smell is gorgeous it's very fruity and sweet smelly. Personally it reminded me of black currant fruit pastilles in terms of the smell! You can purchase this from Lush in two sizes. The packaging is a clear plastic with a screw top lid. The product itself is a deep purple colour, smells lovely and is literally like jelly. At first I thought the product was quite pricey for a shower gel but I was took in by the novel idea of the jelly and the smell.
When using the product a part of it is ripped off and used. If you physically rub shower gel in your hands onto your body it will become difficult to use. It can easily slip out of your hands and down the drain! It can be quite difficult to rub it into a gel like consistency! But, if you rub it into a shower puff as you would a bar of soap it really lathers up. Without using a massive amount. To me it seems to lather up more than my regular shower gel. Ive found the product lasts a long time this way as its not all going down the drain so im happier about the price. The smell remains strong and fruity but doesn't stay very long or strongly on the skin. My skin always feel soft after use and the smell is so refreshing. After using all of the product keep the plastic and after returning 5 empty plastics from Lush you should be given a free face mask!
Johnsons baby oil can come in various bottle sizes. It's packaging is normally a soft, clear plastic. The oil itself is slightly thicker than the consistency of water. It smells clean and powdery which is a lovely addition. After unscrewing the lid the top of the bottle has a small squirter. This is handy as to control how much product you want to use. As its oil it could come pouring out. When applying the product to dry skin you can really feel the skin soaking it up. Leaving your skin feeling soft and moisturised. However, it isn't too oily so it doesn't take very long to soak in. This is great for babies and for adults. It can leave your hands feeling slightly powdery after applying so you may feel that you would want to wash your hands after applying this.
You're also able to get a lot from the product which means you're not having to keep squirting the product out as its a lovely consistency. Ive found this product nice to use with bath water to keep skin hydrated. And have known people to use it on their eczema! As well as for babies. Definately a bathroom must have, although it can be a bit slippery if too much is used or if spilled on the floor.
This benetint lip and cheek stain from benefit, is in a bottle that's similar to a nail varnish bottle. The packaging, like other benefit products, is girly and vibrant. The white screw top lid when unscrewed has a small brush (like a nail varnish) attached to the lid in which the product can then be applied. The consistency of the benetint is very light and watery, not as thick as a nail varnish consistency more like water. I find that it has a rose scent to it which is quite nice. The colour of the product is a deep reddish rose in the bottle but isnt as bold when applied to the face. The instructions suggest placing a few dots of the product on the cheek and then rubbing it in with your finger tips. I find this works well in blending the benetint.
This product lasts well and stays on the face for a good period of time, possibly because it's liquid giving it better staying power. I only applied it once to my lips and found it too red and harsh for my liking. I use this product regularly and have found it to last a very long time, so it's worth the money if you're a fan of blusher. Id describe the finishing look on the cheeks as a healthy rosie red. Quitte subtle but noticeable! However, some may find it a bit too pricey for what it is.
As most people know it's important to keep your hands moisturised, especially if you use them often such as when doing housework or being out and about. I was recommended this product because of the smell. A lot of people have told me that it smells like Dior's Miss Cherie perfume. Which is a scent that I absolutely love so I had to try it.
This hand cream has 50mls of product, its a baby pink colour with your usual plastic lid. I quite like soap and glory's packaging I find it draws my attention with the colours, text and design that you find on all of their products. Some of which have a 50's style to them. This hand cream is said to include shea butter and macadamia oil. The cream is soft and light, but thick. I always see the difference in my hands after its been rubbed into my skin. My hands tend to look more refreshed and cleansed you can really feel the difference. It doesn't leave your hands sticky or greasy like some hand creams which is another bonus. Your hands are also left smelling gorgeous. The scent is quite a sweet one and some people may not particularly like this scent as it is quite strong.
After hearing a few people mention MUA (Makeup Academy) I thought I would pay a visit to my local Superdrug to see what I thought. I purchased three eye shadows which were £1 each! They seem to have two types of eye shadows, those that give a matt effect and those that are more shimmery (named pearl). The eye shadows themselves don't have names, which is a bit of a shame. But on the back of each product it states whether it's 'matt' or 'pearl'. Shades are labelled by numbers. For example, shade 1, shade 2 etc.
I purchased two shimmery ones and one matt one. One was a baby pink (shade 16 - matt), one a cream shade (shade 1 - pearl) and the other a deep, glittery dark blue (shade 10 - pearl).
The packaging itself is simple looking yet gives a professional and clean look. They each weigh 2g and the lid is a clear plastic. However, the lid can be a bit flimsy. They can quite easily break on the hinge that allows you to open and close the lid properly. The product itself I think is a bargain. They're highly pigmented which is brilliant for the price, they give a nice finish and stay on the eye well. As they're highly pigmented you don't need to apply a heavy amount of product on the eye which means they last for quite some time.
However, my only fault with this eye shadow is although it does stay on well for some time, it doesn't last as long as more pricier brands do. But I think that isn't really an issue considering the price! They have a lovely variety of colours so I would recommend people pay superdrug a visit.
I ended up buying this brush a couple of years ago when attending a body shop party. The thing that most drew me to this blusher brush was the feel of it! The brush handle is thick and black and is the perfect length to have a good hold over the brush and control when applying product. The brush itself is extremely soft and gentle. It is a round tipped brush, purposeley intended for blusher. Which ensures you get a lovely finish when applying blusher or other such products. The brush hairs are synthetic.
I've had this brush for well over a year and it continues to be my favourite brush I've never had any issues with it, it's easy to clean, the case holding the brush head itself has stayed intact, the brush hairs have maintained their softeness and colour. I've not had problems with the hairs of the brush falling out either as I've experienced this with other brushes! The brush head size is perfect for applying blusher or contouring your face. I strongly recommend this product it's well worth the price.
As a lot of people may know exfoliating is an important part of skin care and the main thing that drew me to this product was the handy circular scrublet that comes with it! This product contains 150 mls of an apricot scented foaming scrub. The gel itself is quite light and obviously includes smaller pieces which actually exfoliate the skin when applied. I quite like the scrub itself as the consistency has a nice balance between exfoliating pieces and cleansing scrub so it isn't too harsh on the skin. You don't need to use much product as when using the scrublet and rubbed on to your face the product does foam well.
After using this product the skin does feel refreshed, softer and smells lovely. The scrublet I think makes applying the product a lot easier. The scrublet is made of gentle rubber and feels soft against the skin. It's flexible and easy to use and to hold so you're able to apply the product nicely and easily on the face. I only wonder sometimes if this scrub is perhaps a bit too gentle. But I feel this depends on how much of a scrub is desired! If you want something, gentle, light and cleansing then this is definitely a recommendation. If not I'd suggest products such as Aapri which offers a stronger exfoliated effect.
This urban decay palette slides open to reveal ten beautiful eye shadow shades, a eyeshadow brush and a small mirror.
The colours are as follows;
YDK - a metallic bronze. Flipside - a turquoise shade. Feiffer - a light glittery shade of pink. Uzi - a glittery white shade. Twice baked - a chocolate colour with light brown glitter. Midnight cowboy rides again - similar to the YDK shade however it has a lot more glitter in it and is a lighter shade. Flash - deep purple. Oil slick - dark black with small bits of white glitter. Kiddie pool - a baby blue, also glittery. Half baked - a golden shade.
These colours are highly pigmented so you get plenty of use out of them and when applying them you're able to get a good coverage without having to layer it on your eyes. Some of the colours are quite bright and glittery and so these colours may be more suitable for a night out. However, these colours are gorgeous and the variety of shades are a nice addition. After applying the urban decay eye shadow primer which is included I've found that they stay on very well and dont fade or drop onto your face. The outside packaging of the palette is different with a graffiti look to it. I love the design of the packaging! The brush is handy but I'd recommend using other brushes when applying the eyeshadows as the brush given is quite small.
Overall, not only are the colours gorgeous they do stay on really well and are highly pigmented. The price may put some people off but you're getting ten different eye shadow shades and a brush in this palette it's definately worth the money!
This is one of my favourites not just because of the scent but because of how well it lasts. It is quite pricey but it's definitely worth it. The scent can be best described as having floral notes to it, with hints of rose. It's quite feminine and light. It's quite difficult to specifically describe the scent, but it may not be the scent for everyone as it's got quite a distinctive smell. I love this perfume as it lasts all day, when wearing it I constantly smell it at different times throughout the day and get compliments on it. It can be difficult to get hold of a perfume that smells gorgeous and lasts all day! The bottle has a vintage, chic look to it which I love! Its a thick glass with a small pink ribbon bow around the lid which is very girly, the bottle is also quite heavy in itself. The one problem I found with this bottle is after having it on my dresser for over 6 months the top of the bottle which is silver has started to slightly discolour! After wiping it though it does more or less return to it's normal colour.
I have a thing for lip products and I've tried a lot of different lip balms and lip products. But this one is by far one of my favourites. It smells delicious on and is a nice balance between the consistency of a lip balm and a lip gloss. So when applied this gives a nice slight shine and feels lovely and silky on the lips. It isn't sticky like some lip products, it's really smooth and moisturising possibly because its said to include cocoa butter and vitamin E in the ingredients. The smell of this lip balm, is as described, a chocolatey minty smell. This lip balm can be used under or over lipstick or on it's own so it has many uses!
I highly recommend this product, unless your not of fan of sweet scents on your lip products, also if you're the type of person that prefers more drier lip balms this may not be the one for you as this particular lip balm is similar to a lipgloss in some respects. Definitely worth a try, if just for the smell!
I often wear eyeliner on a day to day basis and have to say that I do prefer gel eyeliners as the finish they give you is more sleek, they also make applying eyeliner a lot easier as you have more control to the thickness of the line, which is why I was quick to purchase maybellines gel eye liner. The pot itself is quite small, it's thick and the glass pot is slightly frosty which gives the product a nice, clean and professional look. It has a silver, screw top lid. After applying this gel eye liner I've found that the product does last for a good period of time on the eyes. The colour is a nice deep black and doesn't smudge or smear.
My only fault with this product is the brush!! To the point that it made applying the eyeliner difficult. If the brush was slanted I believe that applying this eye liner would be a lot easier. Therefore, if using the brush provided I'd recommend only using a small amount of product on the brush at a time as it becomes lumpy and thick when you first place it on your eye.
This mascara when applied for the first few weeks I feel does give a nice slight curl, it's not lumpy or too black so it does have a good consistency. However, if you want more definition on the eyes this may not be the mascara for you. I found that it gives more of a natural look. Also, I found after a few weeks of use it didnt seem as good. I know mascaras should regularly be changed but it felt to me that after say ten uses it wasn't as good.
