I recently bought a philips 100Hz widescreen TV. Out of all the TV's in the shop I was the most impressed with the philips performance, even on the low end of the range it was truly excellant. The build quality of the TV is superb and the sound, when I got it back home, is excellant and very crisp for a TV. The picture is completely flicker free and is very impressive in comparison to most the other 100Hz screens I have seen which friends have not mentioning any other brands or anything. The TV has some superb features such as PIP (picture in picture) and dynamic sound variations so you can set it to act like at the movies. Again as for the build quality its excellant with gold plated conectors as standard and all the ouputs and inputs you would want such as RGB for use with the PC, which I also have linked up to play my DVD's. All in all I have been very impressed with the product I have bought and I would recomend it to anyone even though its one of the more expensive on the market starting the range at around £800. Buy philips if you are looking for quality build and a truly flicker free 100Hz screen, superb.
With some of the slickest graphics and sound seen in any game so far this has to be one of the best games released on PC for ages. You play a hitman (surprisingly) that has to take down 4 imporatant public figures the first being a chinese gang leader. In order to take these people down you must first get to them via many different ways. The control of your character is superb if not a little difficult to get used to at first, and with the ability to drag bodies sneak up and kill people with a piano wire this game is trulely terific and excellantly thoughout game. The more people you kill the more money you lose, due to the cost of cleaning the body evidence up after a mission. This make the game very hard in later levels and means you have to be very stealth in order to win. The cut scenes are brilliant with absolutely awesome graphics just like on the frount of the box. The character moves smoothly and mostly automatic when it comes to jumping and climbing which is kind of a downfall, however the rest of the gameplay is superb. All in all a great game with terrific gameplay and graphics to make your mouth water, truly brilliant.
Not having played homeworld and not sure whether I would like a spae stratedgy game I tried this and loved it from the offset. This is a really graphically and great gamplay wise game. It stands out from other stradgy games such as Command and Conquer just because it is 3D and so you can be attacked from any angle, prvoiding you have not set up a mindfield in sphere formation around you ship. The tutorial to get used to the controls is really good and helps you a lot if you have never played homeworld before. The concept of being attacked from so many directions is hard to get used to, to start with however this is soon conquered. The game as great texture detail and the sound effects are really good, if it had the same video style cut scenes as command and conquer this would be the most awesome stratedgy game available. Gameplay is superb and the controls are shear genius once you understand them. There is also great things you can do with your ships such as waypoints, guarding, setting formations and agressive tactics in battle, also some of the ships can imitate the enemy for those stealth missions and researching and building brings more options of these just like in command and conquer. All round a great game which I was not so sure I'd like when I picked it up in the shops, try it you will love it I guarantee!
This software DVD package is simply the best. Out of all the decoders I have tried PowerDVD has the most options and user-friendliness. It is very customisable and seems to work extremely well, the only problem with the version which I have, which I know has been improved in the latest editions is the fact that you cannot go backwards easily. However this is not really a problem until you come to capturing the screenshot you want. Playback is extremely good for a software decoder and combined with a good drive this is a very good solution to DVD playback on a PC. Other options include varible speed fast forward, slow motion frame by frame and other options such as screen capture, child locks for individual DVD's and all the other standard features that come with DVD's. Advanced options include the cumstomisation of resolutions on startup and sound and graphic setup. Join it with a region decoder such as genie, and you can watch multi-regions of DVD's and with ease, this is probably the best reason to have a software decoder as it saves the hassel of changing chips, wiring etc. All in all a well rounded software package the delivers great performance both sound and visually.
Having only had the phone a couple of hours I am very impressed with reception quality and the actual size of the thing. My last phone was a "brick" a motorola c520 and this is a vast improvement. The specification is a lot better than the previous carnation the 3210 and the band width and software on the phone is much better and more designed to net features such as personal screen savers and tunes of various types available on the net now. The predictive text editor seems to function fairly well and is less irratating then I thought it would be with the option to turn it off if desired this is a massive improvement on the 3210 where I could type far quicker than the phone could calculate it. Game-wise there are new improved games such as the widely acclaimed snake 2 which has jumped in its evoloution to a more complex level for the student common room dweller. Appearence wise the phone is excellant a lot smaller length and width-wise but becoming a bit chunkier in depth where the phone now feels even more comfortable in the hand. Battery life is amazing and the charge time being a mear 3-4 hours of the small battery which I thought was not in the box when I got it because its white and tiny. With the ability to change and personalise this phone as much as possible and very easily this has to be one of nokia's greatest pay as you go phones yet (oh yes its just entered the market as this to abolish the 3210 which has poor software). Other features include 8 voice dialers and countless screen savers and tunes both with the phone and others off the net. All in all a top quality piece of kit that I would recmomend to anybody.
I have had this head unit for over a year now and I am still astounded by its quality for the money, the unit provides 4*35 Watts and is really quite good for the money. There is some neat little touches to the display and the D-Bass option by Sony allows you to change the bass levels quickly and effortlessly from song to song. The unit itself supports all the usual mod-cons that most units do including pre outs for amps and an additional auxilary jack for plugging in a CD/MD changer which is optional to the user. The amplification is crisp and clear and the performance is increased when using Sony branded speakers for obvious reasons. All round a good buy for the money and when I got mine from halfords there was free fitting anyway which saves you time of working out your wiring in your car which can be a real pain.
Based on the old TV show Charlie's Angels 2000 is a serious improvement, even though some of the 'cheese' still remains. The plot evolves around revenge and a computer related voice detection system. The visuals are stunning and the soundtrack superb, with a lot of the effects looking like the matrix style "bullit time", which is always a great bonus. This film is full of action and you will not be disappointed especially if your fond of Camerion Diaz, Lucy Lu or Drew Barrymore, they all look hot all the way through. With a very funny script and some cheesey lines this is a pure action film that will not let you down from the offset.Watch it at a good cinema and you will simply be blown away. One of the best action films in a long time with some of the best effects since the matrix.
If you haven't played the others than you should do really but it doesn't matter too much if not. Grand Finale I'm afraid I can't tell you yet and even if I did it would ruin it. Having only been out a couple of days I haven't got to far into it but I can tell you. You play a ex-priest become witch hunter that is after yes you guessed it the famous Blair Witch. Again the engine provides some of the most attractive graphics and sound quality you can get from a game and the story line revolves around the film and you may recognise some of the scenary. The plot is good so far and the pace starts up slow but gets faster as the game progresses. Out of the 3 in the trilogy this is the best and I would recomend it to anyone as the graphics sound and atmosphere the game generates increase as you play. You will not be disappointed and I hope the ending of this one really shows the potential of the trilogy as the others have. Again all in all a must have for the trilogy seeking gamers and if your thinking of only getting this one it doesn't make too much difference and it is the best of the 3 in my opinion. Just as scary and the plot is better than ever this really caps off the triology and the Blair Witch phenomenom which should have stopped after the second film.
This is the 2nd installment of the gaming trilogy pretty much leading on from the first. You play a slick soldier named Lazurus who must fight his way through the mystery of coffin rock. Yes again based on a part of the Blair Witch film with some interesting scenes that may well remind you of the film. The cut scenes as with the first are excellant the graphics are good and the sound is again out of this world, again to do with the Nocturne engine. After completing the first I was left wanting more so this clearly brings it and once you get further into the plot as with the first the mystery simply starts unfolding very well indeed. The controlling aspect of this game is rather difficult to get used to at first, but once you get the handle of it as with Nocturne and the first installment you really start wondering what the fuss was about. The atmosphere is again suberb and reminisant of the film and as with the first installment the sound makes you jump off your seat especially if you have headphones on and a good sound card. Graphically wise the engine handles amazingly again like the first (see the review it pretty much says it all). With again a good storyline and a tumbling twisting plot this is a good continuation of a great gaming idea the trilogy really is good and I think scarier then the film. Watch out for the fiends which jump out on you and make sure your careful of the saves. I recomend you play and complete the first before palying this one as the mystery continues as with every trilogy, however its not the end of the world as it is still a good solo game and it sure will get you jumping. All in all a good breakthrough of games bring on the next installment and it better explain them all in a grand finale!
Based on the Nocturne engine this was developed by Terminal Reality and is a good adaptation of the film. You play a young reporter who must investigate the mystery and the game is split into 3 chapters that are very closely linked to the original. The Nocturne engine works well and the graphics reamin as hot. The sound effects are awesome and this really has some neat little add ins for instance the ghostly children and the sound of laughter and crying. As well as this you really get hooked into the storyline and as you delve deeper into the mystery you jump a lot by the sudden craches of lightning and the fiends that jump out in frount of you. The cut scenes as with all this type of game are excellant and especially good when you compare them to the films themes for instance the cellar insident. I recomend this game for anyone who like the resident evil, alone in the dark and most importantly nocturne genres as it contains lots of action and scary moments. A good all around game that should make your heart pump, bring on the next.
With one of the most original games spawned from 2 great films, this game is simply great with the most awesomw sound of any game I've ever played, so its particularly good when you get the atmosphere right in your surroundings. With high pitcj skretches and screams this will make you jump and look around you constantly. Originally in the format on the Atari Jaguar (yes right remember that console which bombed out basically on its release against playstation and N64) this game is similar but a lot better. With lots of controls from each of the 3 characters you can choose this games is simply awesome from beginning untill end when you eventually get there with 3 different endings. With loads of missions and maps for multiplayer this has to be classed as a 3D shooter in its own class and you just will not be able to stop playing whether it be the well equiped marine with the trusty grenade launcher, the alien with its momoverabity i.e. running up the walls with speed and the predator with its awesome stealth and infared abilities along with its own cool weapons. This really is a top game and as its now down to almost budget level in the shops it should be a must have for any gamer of this generation. Simply excellant
Having created such hype in the gaming market is it worth it the simple answer is GET UNREAL TORUNAMENT INSTEAD. With Positively excellant cartoon graphics the gameplay the sound and the amount of stuff you can get as add on is good. I I have had this game a fair while now and since Quake 3 was spawned by Unreal Tournament not the other way around it is still not a bad game. The game has some cool guns and improvements on the others, texture detail is good but only hits that sweet spot if you like the toon like graphics. Gameplay wise I feel that it lacks something and this is particularly shown when you compare it to the first and second installments. The maps of the levels are pretty plain compared to the ones in the other installments and unreal, but they become better when you play them with loads of bots or other players. Make sure you have got a decent PC and optionally a fast internet connection otherwise you will simply be FRAGGED. The head up conosole and the style of the characters should have been left the same in my opinion probably because of those comic book graphics. However this is not really what this game is about its good to just simply pick up and play and you don't have to get engrossed in it. The controlling system is nothing original just plain old quake and other than that it remains the same with good options and start up interface try this game if your a beginner or not. Not my personal prefernce but still good.
I am a student currently studying a BTEC National Dipoma in Electroics and Computer Engineering. After having a crap year at A levels I decided to move to Bridgwater college to change the direction of my study. I was welcomed much better than Filton and Weston college and this made a huge difference as the people were much more willing to help me. The college itself is situated on the North West of Bridgwater and does not have the best surrounding areas with probably one of the worst council estates right next to it and a cellophane factory only minutes away. Whereas Bridgwater itself is horrible and very smelly due to the factory the college is very nice and fenced in as if it wasn't part of Bridgwater. The college has very good resources in a number of different subject and evening classes and most of the lecturers I have are pretty decent people who generally want you to succeed. The computer system is fairly good with big investments each year to help keep up to date and the college has a good library of books and other resources. On the whole the college is not bad and the people and party are good. The only real downer is the location as it is not the best in the world but this is the flood riden UK after all. Oh my course is excellant by the way if you just don't know which way you want to progress at university i.e. electronics or computing. I'd also advise anyone to do a BTEC National Dimploma as well its much easier than crappy A levels.
This is one of the best (not as well known) donwload managers you can get for free on the internet. With a very simple and eas to use this download manager like Gozilla, Getright and countless others provides you with the ability to resume your download at the point when you get bumped off. I have tried all the managers and I've got to say this is easily the cream of the crop. Its simple to use and look at and set up is very easy. On of the best features is the multiple mirror downloading feature which is slightly like Gozillas but I feel better. This feature allows you to use the manager to search for multiple areas where the file you are downloading is (mirrors) and then the manager selects the most effficient (i.e. closest) place to start downloading and then also includes the mirrors. This means that you end up downloading the file in chunks from many different places. E.g. A file 20MB might be donwloaded from 3 differnent sites: Site 1 might download 4MB Site 2 might download 12MB Site 3 would download the remaining 4MB This means that you get a fast download as you don't get so bogged down by other people donwloading. All the resume features are automatic and you can also set them manually specifying the minimum file to resume from. The tool sits in your system tray (next to your clock in the bottom right) and can be set up to remain there or only activate on dialing your connection which is better than some of the other managers as they use up this extra RAM. Other features which can be set up, like other managers, is to download files even when you are not next to your machine and this can be more than one file and set up so the tool doesn't stop for any prompts. This means you could even be asleep and downloading files. All in all this is a quality download manager and I would recomend it above the rest which, believe me, I've tried. With all these smart little
features this should be the first thing on your list to download as it will speed up other downloads greatly.
Again another teen movie with lots of sex involved, however this one pulls it off with a good general plot and some excellant moments that are quite reminisant of American Pie. The story evolves round college students that have to go in search of a home made video on its way to one of thems girlfriend in another american college. Quite simply from the moment the film starts it will have you in fits of laughter and when they actually get on the road it just gets funnier as disaster strikes. Although this film is excellant it was spoilt very much by the trailer which does show off the most funny bits of the film and somewhat spoils these although you still laugh a lot. With a good cast and a good plot this film is a classic in the American Pie genre and with a real buzzin soundtrack that is really enjoyable throughout the film you can guarantee it will bring laughs again and again.
