Ok so the united kingdom doesnt have a freedom of speach law like they do over there in the United States. It is generally agreed, in polite society anyway, that alomst any opinnion goes, as long as it is backed up and is not just a dig at a person or family. But does this freedom of speach appear here on Dooyoo. Well, on the whole it does, but is there a freedom of humour, thats what I would like to know. How many of you have had your op s stopped or deleated because they were not up to scratch, not on something that dooyoo could sell or even just humourous. Recently I had written an op named 'fitness the blokes' way'. This op was simply a piece of humour joking about drinking more beer and running home from taxi drivers in order to get yourself fit. Useful? not at all, funny, well some people did think so. Did it deserve to be deleted? I dont think so. As a result of this I have some ideas, let us judge if an op should stay where it is or be blocked or deleted. How about they change the vu-not useful system to include a higher than VU for automatic nomination and a one lowed than not useful for a removal plee (obviously with a reason). What do you lot think? Alex

Ok so I've only been living in Leeds for the last 4 years but I have been a student which makes me excellently qualified to judge the pubs, bars and nightlife in Leeds and I think I will say a little bit about the Bar that I frequent. Here we go, my favourite bar. Walkabout Inn - for some reason I am the ony one of my friends that actually likes this place, prolly because I like cheese and Walkabout Inn is Brie on Toast, it is sooo cheesy that it makes Wensleydale look like a piece of fish! So what do we have/? Well its an Australian Bar which sstays open till 2am almost every night!!! Need I say more, well if I dont then people reading this will complain so I will. It is mainly a sports bar with massive TV screans where you can watch all of the latest football or sports highlights any time of day or night. They serve food too, although it is a little pricey the portions are enormous. The range of food runs from a simple salad to anything that used to be alive running or hopping around down under (yes you can order:Springbok, Aligator and even kangaroo!!! the springbok is the nicest though tastiing a little bit like vennison). Night time is the time to be there though, it beomes almost a club and with its two levels you find people dancing on the tabes dancing aanywhere they can. During the week (usually on wednesdays) there are live bands and I have seen Robbie Williams and Queen tribute bands, both have been really good. There is a wide range of drinks on offer, all you fave beers and bottles are on offer, as are your shots. There are also some australian beeers such as Victoria Bitter on offer which is worth a try (like the Austrailian rugby team). As a nice toutch too all the staff seem to have aussie accents.. Great.. Alex (please feel free to comment) Ta X PS G'day mate, I think that should have been at the start???

          Advantages

There have been some shocking changes recently made to our beloved Dooyoo site. Gone are the days where you could spend hours writing an op and then reap the rewards in a £10 voucher or even a £50 cheque after a couple of weeks ro months work. So lets see what changes have been made over the last few months. 1. For a start the number of Dooyoo miles you earn for writing each op has dropped, if I remember rightly we used to get 250 miles for each write (about 25p) and 50 (5p) per member read, with nothing for non-member reads (but hey it could just be you looking at your own op!!). Now the rewards have dropped to 100 miles per review written but the read ammount has stayed exactyly the same, thank God. 2.The number of possible rewards (things you can get with your miles) has increased, T-shirts and vouchers for Blackstar.co.uk are now possible to get. However the number of miles you need to cash in, for each item is my major concern. You used to be able to redeam 50,000 miles to get a cheque for £50 which I did about a year ago (cheers for that all) and you used to be able to use 10,000 miles to get an electonic voucher, 20000 for a high street voucher. Reasonable? I think so, you have to earn a little bit before you get any rewards. Look at the shambles it is in now - just finding the button which will allow you to cash in the miles is hard, you need to go to your profile and find the (TINY) link. This took me a while to be honest. Once you finially get there you find that you need 55,000 miles to get £50 (A shocking £5 handling charge!!!). It costs £2.50 to get an electronic voucher. Now in my estimation the average wage is around £5 pounds an hour, it does not take 30mins to send an email !! Unless you cant type or switch on the computer of course. And an hour to write a cheque and post it... my gran can do it faster than that , even with her arthritis. The minimim cash in for these vouchers is now 20,000 which would take you a hell of a lon
g time to get. Donating to charity doesnt have any charge, which is mighty decent of them neither does getting one of their adverts to wear on your chest. I have calculated that to earn 50 pounds would take you on average 250 hours of writing alone (saying each well written op takes about 30mins mebbies less if you are afaster typer). With an average of 10-15 reads this would drop it to about 75-100 hours wich is about full time work for 1.5-2 weeks!! more.. Great for making money this. Ok , I know that there are many of you who will say that they use this site and will talk about "the sprit of dooyoo". But come on, realistically would you use it for free if you knew how much money you are earning for our Dooyoo friends? Look how much they will get for advertising and selling the information YOU put on their site. Still it is addictive and that I am sure you will all agree. Thanks All, AI would love to hear your comments begfore they silence me (only joking! :)) I would like to thank the many people for the many comments which have been written , cheers for taking the time to read and make a comment. I realise that this op is very contraversial and I apologise if I ofend anyone I am making my own oppinions and I am entited to them. If you agree then great if you dont, fair enough. I will resepct that, please dont make comments or rude insults about me or my ops, I am simply another person with another persons views. Thanks all, feel free to email me, ny email is on my profile. Please dont email abuse though (as some have done already). Alex xxx

Well I was really suprised to find that noone had actually writen an op on this fantastic car. So I will be honoured to be the first. Well, I have never owned this car, neither do I plan to (unless I win a little bit of cash, I am only a skint student myself you know), but I was given one of these by Reg Vardy when I was having some minor repairs to my citroen AX done (see my review of that too :)) Anyway, I foudn this car fantastic. I was pleasentlky suprised by the speed and acceleration it offered. But to look at it, well , its nothing special. I loved the old 'squarish' bodykit of the pre 90's model but the newish one looks, well more like a bubble car, a stley that too many car manufacturers are opting for. Bring back the angles, thats what I say. Ok, foot on the gas, and here we go! Engine. This has a well sexy 1.4 engine that will do 0-62 in 10.4 seconds. That beats even a corsa 1.4SRi with much less insurance, however you dont get any spoiler though. Shame. The fuel consumption is your typical 1.4i about 38-40mpg depending on how you drive. The engine is very willing though. Even with the car full of clothes and stuff(taking it all down to my student flat) it flys up hils with ease. At 90MPH on the motorway it wanted to give more, and gave those annoying Volvo drivers that sit 2inches away from your rear bumper the shock of their lives. The engine itself is really quiet too, even at moderate speeds, but above about 85ish is starts to get a bit noisy. Still very quiet compared to other 1.4s i've been in. Looks Erm, very girliie. I didnt really like the look of it. The front end is ok but the back end looks like a cows bum. Not nice. The front visability is good but out of the rear, well put it this way, you would see more at a Robbie Williams concert with the entire Buckingham Palace guards begrade infront of you. Inside Inside the trim is nice, it looks and
feels rather expensive. The radio is good too, 6 speakers if I reamember rightly and a stawlk on the right of the steering wheel so you can change station on the move. There is a litlefoot rest next to the clutch, which I thought was a nice toutch. Ride. Sturdy and conmfortabnle, no roll mon corners. Nice, but you do feel the bumps. Cheers All Alex

            • belly

Well as you all know the best way to keep fit is to do as little as possible. I find that you shoul d do just enough exercise to keep you from getting fat and getting a beer belly...which looks well rough to all the laydeez. So here are my top ten tips for keeping fit 1.Always be the one to go to the bar, carrying 20pints on a tray and walking all the way back to your mates can work off an awlul lot of calories. 2.Buy pints and never bottles or halfs. These wiegh more and will help to strenghten your bicepts... Mmmm lovley. 3.Never down your pint, this will only exisise your gullet and your peristalsis muscles. Always lift at least 25 times and take turns with each arm. 4.When you go to the gents.. open and close your flies at least 50 times, to strengthen those finger muscles. Dont do this if a)there is a guy bigger than you in the toilet or b)if there is someone who looks gay there..eeek. 5.Always run home, never get a taxi.. Or if you do get a taxi... jump it at the lights and run like hell to get away from the driver, he will chase you for miles so this really will improve your cardiovascular system!!! :) Dont run into your own house, its bad,,, trust me. 6.Never ask a lass for a 'shag' cos you will get slapped. 7.I find that when you are in a curry house often the waiter is nowhere to be found. Instead of shouting for him (he may be short especially if he is a dwarf). Crawl on youir hands and knees and seek out the little scamp, you know when you want somemore popadoms or somthing. 8.Go to a chineese resturant, they are usually shorter there so you may have to walk on your hands for this one. Its not a good idea to attempt this after 12 pints or if you have no arms... 9.Dont go to the gym - it hurts Alex x OK so numbers 7 and 8 are a bit silly, I had a few too many beers when I wrote them. Cheers all for you comments.

              Advantages

              Disadvantages

I recently took a W reg one of these babies for a test drive and to be honest I was plesently suprised. I have always liked the look of these little cars but, as they only have a 1.1litre engine I have never really considered one. The sporting model definatly looks the best. The new look is fantastic, even sportier than the W reg that we tried. The outside trim has been adjusted to give it an even more sportier look. The front grill now has a wider mesh on the front skirt and to give the front end of the car a much meaner look (grrrrr!!). The stripes down the side of the car have been updated too. No longer do you have something that looks like a ZOOM ice lolly. You now have a nice, slim black stripe with the logo "Sporting" on it. Looks better I think. The back skirt of the car is also changed too. There is no longer a little blue stripe. I liked this and dont like the way that its been remmoved. However the new skirt on the back of the car does, once again, give the car a meaner look. The internal trim has changed too. The central console now has a chrome type finish, which looks very nice new. I dont know how well it will stand up to the test of time. Still it looks better than the black trim in the old car. The dials are improved too, the fonts have been changed and the background is a new white. Looks nice and sportier. This car comes with all the features you could want out of a car. It has central locking, power steering, electric windows, manual sunroof and CD player with 4 speakers as standard. The engine is a nippy 1.1 injection which is very very quiet. Its the same engine that was in the old cinchechento (or however you spell it???) but its been tuned up a bit for better acceleration and top speed. The car will do 0-62mph in 13.5s and combined fuel consumption is about 43mpg. The exra-urban mpg is good at about 55-60mpg. Driving position is ok, but would be a little bit crampe
d for the taller of us. I had no problems. It felt roomy enough. I am 5ft8. The seats are comfortable bucket seats to prevent roll on cornering (not that there seems to be any, the ride was very nice with none-little corner roll). Safety seems to have been a big isue in the design of the sporting. It has a driver airbag (you can get others and ABS for a little extra cash). There is polypropalene impact absorbers. A metal cage surrounding the driver and side impact bars. Safe. Yes Now to the downsides. The boot is little more than a shelf and you will have difficulty getting even your shopping in there. However the back seats do fold 1/3 2/3 so you do have a bit of choise.... Cheer all Alex "Eat more pies" Cole

American Phycho - the DVD I recently rented this DVD knowing absolutly nothing about the film at all. When I saw it I was pleasently suprised - the film was fantastic (look at the film review section there are loads of great reviews about the story itself. I will only say a little bit about it here). OK, so what do you get with your DVD? This DVD is also crammed with features. All the usuals are there: the animated screens with background music, I loved this, its just so well done, great backing tracks and blood dripping down the screen fanntastic. There is also a series of interviews with the actors. There is about 10 of these. Worth watching if you are REALLY interested but, to be honest it bored me. Some of the interviews did give a bit of background information into the original book, which I liked. Also there is a series of deleted scenes. These are welll worth watching. The best ones by far are the ones shot in a nightclub. Here you see how nightclub scenes are shot: The actors just shout at each other and the backing music is put over the top afterwards, great fun. Not one of these delected scenes is poor. The sectorisation and scene access is also spot on. You can get to just about anuywhere you want to be. Just beofore any action or any murder. I loved it. Ok so what is the film about then: WEll its set in the mid-late 80's and follows the life of a 80's Yuppiem, obviously with far more money than sense. He is so petty, so small minded that you actually find him funny, in a pittiful kind of way. He seems to have no conscience and goes on to commit a series of very sick murders with no remorse. I cant really tell you any more or I would end up runining the film. Buy it (10 quid at HMV) rent it!! its great any comments would be appreciated. Thanks All Alex

FREQUENCY Well as you would expect from any decent DVD release this DVD is crammed with features. Well mebbies not crammed but there is easily enough to keep you happy for an extra hour or so. Well what features do we actually have then? Well the DVD advertises that there is over 40 mins of extras. These 40 minutes incude deleted scenes of which there are about 5. These are actually rather well shot but you can see why they were removed from the final film, they would have reduced the pace of the film to more of a crawl (which is bad m'kay). There is a behind the scenes documentary which, to be honest, is more of a feaure of the pseudo science behind how John can talk to his dad in the past. It talks for a while about the aurorae borialis and how it comes about. This is actually quite nice to see as it takes an intergral part in the film. To be honest after this the documentary goes from talking about science to some rubbish it just makes up so I didnt really pay that much attention. The film to DVD transfer has worked really well with the picture quaility fantastic, however in the early parts of the film the background music is a little too loud and it is difficult to see what the actors are saying. This was improved by turning down the volume on the subwoofer but it does loose some of the 'BANG' of the film. OK now onto the film itself. The film is based around an old HAM radio which allows our star to talk to his dad 30 years previously. Now knowing this John (in 1999) tells his dad that he will die the next day in a fire. His dad then does something different in the fire and does not die. As a result the timeline becomes very bizzaire. A murderer kills 7 more victims including John's mother. What then hapens is a rip roaring ride to catch the murderer in 1969 to change the present back to what it should be. Confusing? Often? Fun? Yes? Cheers all for reading. Any comments would
be appreciated. I hope I have sorted out the formating, cheers all.

THIS OP WILL TELL YOU THE TRUTH ABOUT THE FILM, IS IT REAL? Look and find out. Please note: as commented by some users, this op is similar to my op in the film section. Some of the text is the same. I have however added a section about the DVD features etc that seems to have been over looked. Cheers For your comments all The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is one of the scariest films I have ever seen. Even though it was made about 20 years ago Tobe-Hoopers original vision is still shocking and scaring everyone who watches it. For those of you who dont know what its all about, basically it is a 'true' story of a group of 6 teenagers on a afternoon drive through the American countryside. The opening of the film is a series of shots of ex-humed courpses and this sets the scene for the whole film. What happens to these teenagers is shocking, discusting and downright sick. The whole of the film is shot to make the viewer feel uneasy, the film is grainy with sharp contrasts between light and dark. The whole film is shot in such a way that makes the viewer feel hot and sweaty and this enhances the horrror of the movie. The DVD is a horror fanatic's dream. It is packed with features. There is the usual scene access which, as usual, is well partitioned. There is a series of bloopers, which to be honest with you arent really much cop, or funny for that matter. But then again, its hard to be funny in a film like this. There is a selection of deleted scenes. Now this bit is rather good. Although most of them are very grainy and have no sound, there is text to accompany each to give you a little bit of background. This is needed and increases the interest in the film. There is a series of stills and a commentry over this film which is good to find out what the writer/director was thinking as he was making this downright discusting film. The whole film is remaste
red which improved the contrast over the original film. The sound is digitally remastered, now in stereo (the original was in mono). The sound in this film is well eeerie.. Makes you much more scared BUT, people keep asking me. Was this thing real? As is advertised on the front of the box. Well with a little researching I found this: The film is not real. The events in the film never happened. But however, near to where Tobe Hooper lived when he was young there was a man named ED GEIN who was convicted of cannabilsm, murder, torture and necriphilia. This man was very similar to the 'leatherface' in the chainsaw film. Ed Gein was a recluse who was Born at the turn of the century into the small farming community of Plainfield, Wisconsin, USA.His mother taught him from an early age that sex was sinful. In 1945 his mother and older brother both died. After this his farmhouse soon degenerated into a 'madman's shambles'.He remained alone in the enormous farmhouse, haunted by the ghost of his mother, whose bedroom he kept locked and undisturbed, exactly as it had been when she was alive. He also sealed off the drawing room and five more upstairs rooms, living only in one downstairs room and the kitchen. He began a very unhealty interest in the female anatomy and bought copious books on the subject such as pornography, art, pulp fiction and anatomy. His fasination led him to seek victims and eventually it was found that he killed as many as 15 women. When he was finially arrested it was brought to public knowledge that he would remove the internal organs of his victims and keep their heart, liver and lungs in the fridge or hanging around his house. He often covered himself in human skin, especially over his face and danced around the house. Just for fun. When the police searched his house. They found one woman hung on meat hooks and her internal organs removed. Her ki
dneys and lungs etc were found in his fridge and her heart on a plate on the kitchen table. Around his house furnature was decorated with human remains. His 4 poster bed was decorated with skuls and leg bones. The lampshades in the house were made from skin, just like in the film itself. The police also found severed heads stuffed wtih newspapers, a belt decorated with nipples... Lovley eh. Anway so you can see the answer to wether this film is true is dubious. It never happened to those kids but did happen to someone else. Mainly women in their 50's Cheers Alex PS please feel free to add comments

                        Disadvantages

For those of you that dont know much about the IMAX it is basically a HUGE screen about the size of a tennis court so that almost all of your field of vision is encapulated by the screen. I have been to the IMAX cinema at the Film and Photography museum at Bradford and to the one at NASA in Florida. And I must say it is a fantastic experience. Just watching films in normal 2D is great, you feel ever twist and turn of the camera, and because the screen is so big and the seats are on such a large gradient then you really feel that you are part of the film experience youself. However the best thing about the Bradford IMAX is that they offer 3D films too... The 3D effect works by using Cross-polaried glasses, with horizontally polaried light comming through the right lens and vertically polaried light through the left lens. Your eyes therfore each see a different image and your brain interpretates this as 3D. The best thing about this technique is that the picture you see is in full colour (the colour of the image does not affect the polarisation at all). You only got black and white images with the old red and green lens glasses. Great experience. Maybe not worth the extortionat price. Please leave Comments Alex PS I am dyslexic so sorry for any spelling mistakes.

I got there to the cinema to find that even though this was advertised as being a 3D film with the Simpsons and Antz it really is a collection of short computer animations, ported to 3D. For those of you that dont know much about the IMAX it is basically a HUGE screen about the size of a tennis court so that almost all of your field of vision is encapulated by the screen. The 3D effect works by using Cross-polaried glasses, with horizontally polaried light comming through the right lens and vertically polaried light through the left lens. You only got black and white images with the old red and green lens glasses. Ok back onto the film. As I said before it was a little bit dissapointing. It is a series of short computer generated 3D films one after another hosted by annoying american 3D lass. Each of the short films lasts about 5minutes and someof them are just pretty pictures which make no sense whatsover. The most dissapointing of them all was the Pet Shop Boys music video in 3D..hmm. intersting. The Antz 3D part is the secion of the film where Zee dances with the princess, and this is probably one of the better animated parts of the film. Looks fantastic to see thousands of ants going off into the distance. Another memerable short film is the scarab beetle. Fantasitc animation and 3D action. Here again you feel like you are the size of an ant. I would reccomend going to see this if you are new to IMAX 3D films but to behonest it is good but not worth the 4-5 pound you pay for the ticket.. Cheers All Alex

This is really a feel good movie. Fantastic if you are feeling a little bit down. To be honest, even though the critics slated this film, I still really enjoyed it. The plot is very simple. Basically its about a real guy who after admiting himself to a mental hospital, decided that he wants to help people. He wants to make a difference to other people's lives, to touch people, so he decides (dispite being in his late 20's) to go to medical school to become a doctor. Now the film is set in the 60's where Dr's were very straight laced and authoritairan (well they havnt changed that much really have they). Patch decides that he want to treat patients as people, give them a personal touch and, well to be honest, make them laugh. The film follows his life as he battles his way through medical school with some hilarious and tragic consequenses. Well worth watching. I wont tell you any more as it may spoil the film for you. Needless to say it does have a happy ending and will make you laugh and cry all the way through the film. However, I dont know if you agree with me but I really found Robin Williams annoying in this film. I would really get annoyed if I was ill in hospital and someone like Patch Adams came into the room and started pulling faces at me. Would annoy me like crazy. The DVD has a reasonable amount of features. It has scene selection, with well partitioned scene access, and a mini documentary with interviews with director e.t.c. and the (Completly Mad) Patch Adams himself. The picture quality is good with the colour depth you would expect from a DVD and the music very rarely stops during the whole film. This again is very crisp and clear. On the video it has ported reasonably well from the cinema version. Obviously the picture is not as crisp or the sound but it is still reasonably clear and your viewing pleasure is not reduced by an awful lot. Thanks All Please feel free to add comments/suggestio

After watching this film you will never get a bath again... Trust me!!! :) Well this film is fantastic but where are the DVD features. All you get in the way of features here is a scene selection, a nice, well presented menu system with scene access and well thats about it. The scene acess is well designed too, it allows you to access the film in all the right places. Before any big jumps in the plot and well before any scary bits - to allow the tention to build up. Well there is no point in just having a scare when you are not built up for it is there? As for language selection there is quiet a lot. There is the usual German (2channel) and English (5.1) but any language you care to name appears to be subtilied. There is even greek and chineese (I think - looks like chineese anyway). The aspect ratio of the film is the usual widescreen 2.35:1 and obiously a large telly is needed for this. The pictre quaility and sound are spot on and are really crisp and clear. This is needed for this sort of film as it does use shadows and mist a lot. I rented this film recently and throughly enjoyed it. For those of you who dont know, its a slow paced phycological thriller/horror film. And for once, it actually is quite scary. Well scary maybe isnt the best word, its one of those films that gives you the chills and makes you jump at every turn in the storyline. You really should watch this film with the volume turned up and for best results with a Dolby Pro-logic system. The subwoofer really helps to bring on the tention and gives you that extra joult when something terrifing happens. Basically I cant really tell you that much about the storyline without giving too much away. But the film is set in a large house quite a way from civilisation, it stars Michelle Pfifer and Harrison Ford as a perfect married couple. After her daughter leaves for univeristy Michelle starts hearing things and her quest to find out what is going on in the pa
st starts. She becomes haunted by apparitions and her mind runs wild, at one point she even seems to invite the sprit into her. The film twists and become grusome towards the end and is well worth sticking with. Make sure you watch it with at least one friend, and perhaps a partner because he/she will be hugging you tight by the end!! Some things are left un-explained though, this does add to the mystery of the film, but to be honest does annoy me. If anyone has seen this film? What do you think of her when she has the lock of hair? Cheers All, Comments would be appreciated. Alex
