I recently bought Meltus Max Strength after suffering with a long bout of flu. I had all the classic symptoms including chesty cough, bunged up nose, sinus tension and exhaustion. To make matters worse I then managed to pass the dreaded flu on to the other half who of course ended up with, I quote, ' worsening symptoms '.
After trying all the usual medicines available on the market including Lemsips and good old honey and lemon, I opted for something a little stronger with a bit of a kick to shift the virus out for good. So on a visit to Sainsbury's to stock up on vital supplies I grabbed a bottle of Meltus!
I must admit I wasn't expecting the world but needed something, anything to keep me and him quiet and contented long enough to grab a couple of hours sleep, and my god did it work!
Meltus is designed to relieve chesty coughs and sooth irritated sore throats. The non drowsy formula means it is ideal for anyone that needs to be fully alert during the day (i.e. operating machinery or driving). Its demulcent, antiseptic base aids, soothes and protects sore throats whilst the warming vapours help to clear the build up of catarrh and loosen mucus found in the bronchial tubes. (Basically it hits the flu hard, feels warm and soothing and generally makes you feel better)
When taking the product always make sure to shake the 100ml bottle well before dispensing 1 to 2 5ml teaspoons of medicine. The product should then be taken by orally and swallowed slowly (to feel the full benefits), this should be repeated as needed every 3 to 4 hours.
Due the powerful mixture this product is not suitable for children under the age of 12 years old. There are however other forms of Meltus on the market aimed at younger children all the way down to babies so shop around to find the most suitable product. I would stress that if your symptoms do not seem to clear within a few days consult a doctor.
The product should be stored at room temperature (no greater than 25 degress), this is due to the ingredients including purified honey and sucrose. Overall I feel this product is ideal for the medicine cabinet, costing just under £3.00 a bottle is good value for money and for once actually does what it says on the tin.
P.S I must mention as with all good medicines this once tastes awful!
Dove is one of those brands you either love or hate. Personally i love the brand, i enjoy using everything from Dove soap, Deodorant and now shampoo and conditioner. I think the main reason for my love of this brand in particular is the amazing smell that all the products have in common - that clean, almost washing power scent always makes me feel clean and confident.
My favorite product at the moment has to be its Intense Hair Care products especially the conditioner. Having used most products on the market ranging from Tony &Guy, Lee Stafford and then down the cheaper end of the market such as Herbal Essences i am still a firm believer that Dove Intense Care Conditioner is one of the best on the market.
I have very dry hair, mainly due to over-styling (Blow Drying, Straightener and the occasional Curling Iron). I also tend to over dye my hair (First brown, then decide i prefer it blonde and then brown again) and so the circle goes on. Because of this my hair is in quite bad condition, i cover this up by using serums etc... so to produce a healthy shine but to touch, the hair is almost like straw.
So when i first discovered Dove Intense on offer in my local supermarket the first thing i did was secretly sniff the bottle and 'Oh Yes' that clean smell had me hook, line and sinker. So my thoughts were, even if it did nothing to improve the health of my hair it would at least smell nice and i could sniff it all day.
Dove Intensive Care is designed to work deep within the hair shafts by fusing each fibre with moisturisers. This moisture helps the hair to repair itself from root to tip leaving your locks feeling nourished and revived. Dove has the rich, thick consistency of a hair mask which clings to the hair allowing it to deeply absorb -this means hair will feel extremely nourished without feeling weighed down and heavy.
My directions would be to use Dove Intense Shampoo, wash thoroughly and then apply the conditioner. It is advisable to use enough of the product to coat each section of the hair (I also tend to comb the product through to ensure even application). Once applied the bottle states to leave from 3 minutes, personally i tend to leave as long as possible to get truly nourished hair. When your ready rinse with clean water for at least two minutes to ensure the product is fully out (leaving product in can cause a build up of residue which leaves the hair dull and with powder like dandruff) Once fully rinsed, style as usual and see the remarkable results for yourself.
My hair suddenly felt silky, soft and the way it should. The shine was second to none, and the smell amazing. These effects lasted a good couple of days without washing. With Dove it's not about fun gimmick's, the brand does what it promises. I feel for such a great product the price tag is amazing, at only £1'ish a bottle, a salon quality product is finally available to the every miss + mr. The product can be purchased from most supermarkets and chemists at a low price. The only advice i will offer is make sure you grab a shampoo to gain even better results. The bottle lasts around 6-8 washes for my hair length (super-long) plus i am greedy and love to coat my hair so would prob last 10+ for most users.
Overall i would rate this product 10/10, amazing quality, low price and smell fab!
I am finally in the position to buy my first home, which should in theory be a joyful, fun, and exciting experience yet all I'm feeling is I sick. I understand this review is meant to dictate the facts on buying a house but I feel for all the first time buyers out there some home truths should be mentioned also.
Up until a few years ago obtaining a mortgage at 4 times+ your income was simple and straightforward however now due to the economic downfall obtaining a mortgage at all is now almost impossible. The first hurdle we (My partner and I) fell flat on our faces at was the deposit. At least 80% of all mortgages now require at least a 20% deposit to even consider lending you 'some' money. So our dreams of buying a simple two bedroom house were shattered when we realised we would need at least £14,000 saved in our piggy bank before we could even start.
So our next option was to widen our horizon - we opted for properties (flats, bungalows and the occasional shed) 30 miles from where we live as properties are on average 20-30% cheaper. This in turn meant the deposit we needed was smaller but commuting costs higher (we decided this was the only way to go). We were lucky in that the bank decided we could lend up to 3 and a tiny bit times our joint income which worked out to just over £110,000, which to be honest is great but finding something suitable in this price bracket is a challenge to say the least.
So with deposit saved, here we are currently searching for our not so *dream* home but more of an adequate abode. I am currently signed up to every estate agent in the area and find myself checking emails at 12.01pm every evening...or I guess morning to see what new properties are available.
Take this morning for example; I received an update to advise me a new property was available. It is in need of lots and I mean lots of work (I did so name it 'squatters rest'), so there I was jumping to the telephone and calling the estate agents to arrange a viewing as it was just in our price bracket. By the time I had got through 9:30am already an offer had been placed near to the asking price (the buyer hadn't seen the property and had acted only on online photos seen) So I arranged a viewing for tomorrow afternoon (Saturday).....
At around 11am I decided I needed to act fast so without consulting my partner or actually seeing the property (stupid I know) put an offer in for the full asking price to the delight of the estate agent.
However and here comes the annoying part my offer was accepted on the condition that must view the property first which I agreed to (couldn't really do anything else about it). Obviously I knew that if worst came to worst and it was falling down I could always pull out. So I was ecstatic, my partner not even in the know (but thought I'd deal with that bit later) until just an hour ago I received another call from the estate agent my offer had been matched by two other buyers. So here I sit unsure of what to do, it appears the two other buyer are builders offering cash (obviously trying to make profit) and here am I (a twenty something first time buyer trying to get her foot on the ladder).
I now have the option of trying to up my big and start a bidding war or sitting tight and hoping the vendor takes pity on our position. I guess what I am trying to say by writing this review is that buying a house is becoming more and more difficult for the younger generation. I feel as though the with press and media coverage always nagging at how 'little' we do there needs to be some consideration of how hard it is for the ones that are trying. Sorry to rant on but I needed to let off steam! I feel disgusted at the fact builders can just jump in wave some cash and snap all the affordable homes in order to pad their wallets further.
A Wheat Warmer is something that everyone should have stored in the cupboard for times of emergency, this great little device is ideal for the general aches and pains caused from everyday life. The Wheat Warmer is available from good chemists, department stores and online - there are lots of different designs and fillings to choose from but my personal favourite is the lavender wheat bag.
The Warmer is made from a very soft fleece material (about forearms length) and stuffed (like a beanbag) with wheat as well as your chosen fragrance, which in this case is Lavender. The reason for choosing Lavender was due to its antiseptic, healing properties. According to research Lavender is a great, natural anti-inflammatory. So ideal if being used to aid arthritic conditions and sprains. Lavender is also known for its relaxing properties so is ideal for alleviating anxiety and sleep disturbances (An ideal alternative to a hot water bottle)
The Wheat Bag can be used hot or cold to treat many different symptoms. Placed on a clean, dry surface the bag should be microwave for just a few minutes until warm and placed on the affected area. The warmth of the bag releases tight muscles and encourages the body to relax. The bag is ideal for use as a sleep aid as can be wrapped, folder and placed around the body very easily. The fleece material is very comforting and does not irritate the skin like other harsh materials can.
Another great way to use the Wheat Bag is as a cold compress to treat sprains and bruises. Simply place the bag in to the freezer for a few hours and apply to the swollen skin. The wheat moulds itself to the limb allowing for direct application first time.
There are other alternatives to using a Wheat Bag such as Deep Heat, Heat Pads, Hot Water Bottles and Ice Packs however these kind of products are not always re-useable, cost effective or easily handled. Whereas the Wheat Bag can be easily stored, re-used again and again, can be applied hot or cold and is excellent for treating a number of symptoms. When compared to the price of topical lotions the re-usable bag costs pennies per use.
Price wise the product can be purchased from £4+, it is a good idea to hunt around for a bargain or have a go at making your own. Simply purchase quality grain, natural oils and fragrances and sew yourself a little bag. Either way I feel this product is a must have item in addition to a First Aid Kit.
This telephone is a brilliant little bit of kit aimed for those with hearing problems. We purchased directly from BT for around £20.00 and we very impressed with what we thought was just a basic home phone. Due to homing an 'Inductive Coupler' this telephone does not affect the sound quality to those wearing hearing aids. The telephone provides all of the usual basic settings and also includes some extra features including redial, mute and 1571 (answer phone) buttons. The phone has three number memory settings which allow the user to be in total control without the need for endless dialling (store the number, press the button and off you go...)
Due to being totally power free the phone is also economically friendly in relation to the ever increasing electricity bills flying through our letterboxes. The telephone, chalky white in colour can be wall mounted the the aid of a couple of screws or simply placed on a sturdy, flat surface. With a good cord length the phone can be comfortably moved around and also being made of plastic means it is lightweight.
The telephone comes with 1 years warranty however 2+ years after purchase our phone is still fighting fit and fault free. Another great feature with this phone is its choice of ring tones (10 in fact) which are easily changed as well as the pitch. The telephone also included a small light which is activated with incoming calls alerting the user to 'pick-up' so again is excellent for those with hearing problems.
For the price of this telephone I would definitely rate it 10/10 - it does exactly what it says on the tin plus a little more. Personally we couldn't be happier with our purchase and would when the time comes upgrade to another version. Overal for such a basic telephone it is hard to write endless amounts of information but it rings when needed, has a few features to spice it up a little and is under £20 what more could you expect!!!
I found these in the bathroom cabinet a few months ago, something my mum had been given, hadn't use so as usual I decided to take ownership of. The idea of these small pads is to eliminate unwanted hair on the body by 'buffing' the skin.
This all seems pretty simply I know but what they don't tell you is that OMG does it hurt if done incorrectly. I believe the reason for the pain is because I chose not to read the instructions and take any notice of the guidelines. Basically the pads are made of what I can best describe as sand-paper (but extra fine) you then take the pad and in circular motion buff away at the hairy skin (three times clockwise...three times anti-clockwise). When buffing the skin you may notice a white power appearing this is in fact dead skin that has been removed by the exfoliating action of the gritty paper. At this point is where I got carried away, my skin felt super smooth so I decided it would be a great idea to buff away at my whole body just randomly picking patches I thought could do with a buff, forgetting that these were indeed intended for HAIR REMOVAL. So 1000 buffs later I decided I was done.....
The hair removal part was OK it seemed to clear what I would describe as downy hair but where the hair was thicker had just aggravated the skin. And then I came to experience the pain, I had managed to aggravate my skin sooo much that I was now a big red fireball (my skin was burning, irritated and glowing) this finally died down after a day or so......
My overall opinion of this product would be use with care and don't expect amazing results. Its fine for small thin patches of hair but wouldn't recommend on sensitive areas. Also read the instructions if not you too will glow like a fire ball!!!
I purchased this kit from Dermalogica online just a few months ago, it was priced just under £20.00 but this included delivery. I'm not the type of person who usually opts for 'sample' sized products found in this kit but felt it was best to try the range before committing to an even more expensive purchase.
What in this kit?
The kit arrived in a small material case complete with zip and see-through window. The products were presented very nicely and looked quite a good size. The kit contained:
Ultra Calming Cleanser (1.7oz)
Soothing Protection Spray (1.7oz)
Barrier Repair (0.30oz)
Total Eye Care (0.14oz)
Climate Control Lip Treatment (4.5g)
Daily Microfoliant (sample size I think around 5ml?)
All the products found in this kit are aimed at people who suffer from sensitive skin and are fragranced so subtly that they can be use by men and women alike. As listed above the products are all of fair size (I would say slightly larger than I was expecting) and not much needs to be used so lasted me around 6 weeks (however the lip treatment and eye care cream are still half full in my case as didn't need to apply much to feel the benefits)
The Ultra Calming Cleanser can be applied to wet or dry skin and removed using water or cotton wool. Personally I opted for using on wet skin, massaging in and then rinsing clean. The product is very gel like in formula so was very easy to apply (usually used a 10p sized blob) and removed all of my makeup leaving my skin feeling soft and cared for.
The Soothing Protection Spray is one of my favourites and is to be used to protect and refresh the face after cleansing. It is supplied in a pump action bottle (2 squirts was enough to make my face feel refreshed and hydrated). The Protection Spray is great for toning down redness in the skin caused by pollution, climate extremes and allergies. I personally suffer from a 'tight face' after cleansing and found this product really 'freed' my skin. Its ingredients included Willow, Raspberry and Cucumber known for their nourishing and calming properties.
The Barrier Cream is something I always applied after using the protection spray (others may choose different) I felt it locked in the Protection Spray and left my face feeling incredibly smooth and cared for. It is a silicon based moisturiser (completely water free) and gentry melts in to skin to sooth and repair. Its silicone base created a velvety feel to skin and properties such as Vitamin C and Shea butter really care for the skin.
The Total Eye Care is a great little product (At first you may think what a small tube but a little really does go a small way). A small pea sized amount is enough products for both eyes. This should be applied both under and above the eye to gain the maximum benefit. The product smoothes and help to re-texturise the delicate skin and also provides SPF15 to help prevent any future sun damage.
The Climate Lip Control Treatment is my handbag essential. Exactly the same as a lip-sol with a twist action bottom and small lid to keep things fresh the product provides immediate relief to dry chapped lips. The O-Zone formula protects lips from pollution and symptoms caused by stress or poor diet. Ingredients include Shea Butter, Lavender (A Natural Antiseptic) and also Vitamin E. It is a great little product that only needs applying twice a day.
Overall I feel this kit is great for price - larger sizes can be purchased in the entire product listed from any good website. The products are all demagogically test and contain where ever possible natural ingredients. Other kits can also be tested for Normal and Oily Skin Types. It is also worth mentioning free samples can be request from Demalogica directly.
I first found Nails Inc just over a year ago, before which the though of spending £10.00+ on a bottle of nail varnish would send chills down my spine. That was until i actually tried the product (my first ever bottle free with a magazine) from that moment on i was hooked. The colours are so vivid and full of pigment meaning just two coats created amazing colour that lasted for days.
Nails inc was first launched in 1999 by a young entrepreneur named Thea Green. It was said that Thea realised there was a gap in the market for high quality nail care for women who had little time on their hands and so Nails Inc was born. At first Nails Inc specialised in the quick 15 minute manicure provided Nails Inc Nail Bars throughout London soon the fever spread and now these bars can be found all over the UK including Harvey Nics and Selfridges.
As well as high quality nail treatments the brand also offer great high quality products available to purchase by the the general public. Purchases can be made on-line at their website and also in one of their many 59 nail bars throughout the UK.
I personally have found the nail varnishes a joy to use and have become somewhat of a collector. Each varnish is given an individual name usually that of a famous place or street, some have included Warwick Avenue, Saville Row and Covent Garden. Also limited addition varnished can be found with some products such as Coca-Cola, Magazines and Alcohol so keep an eye out.
I love using the Nails Inc product simply because of the quality and long lasting finishes available. The colour as very vivid and can be found in and ever increasing range of colours. Try one and you will be converted...
St Tropez is one of my all time favourite products as it allows me to achieve a natural looking tan without causing any harm to the skin. The St Tropez range is ideal for all skin types and allows you to develop and maintain a natural tan quickly and easily.
St Tropez is introduced to the consumer in three steps -
Step One - Exfoliation (Explained in one of my earlier reviews)
Step Two - Tanning
Step Three - Moisturising
Today I will try to explain Step Two - Tanning....
The St Tropez Auto Bronzant Lotion is by far the best tanning product I have used. The tan is achieved very easily and with such natural results (Not like the orange glow you get from other cheaper brands) although the Bronzant may seem rather expensive at first usually over £12.00 for a 120ml bottle it is definitely worth its weight in gold.
Before applying the product it is best to partake in Step One Exfoliation (please see my other review) by exfoliating the skin prior to tanning you skin is in much better condition and able to produce a better looking tan. The tanning product works by combing active ingredients which react with the bacteria and amino acids present on skin, due to the product being Aloe Vera based it is very soothing and also the green pigment present means no tangerine incidents. The product is also non greasy and dries fully within a few minutes I usually find by the time I have worked upwards and reached my face my lower body is dry. The product is treacle colour which allows you to see where you have applied; this means no scary white patches!
The best way to apply this product in my opinion is with the hands, I have tried the St Tropez Mitts (Basically a small mitt worn over the hand to rub in the product) however felt I couldn't work the product in to the skin as well. So using the pump action bottle squirt two pumps of product in to the hands and begin from your feet upwards. It is best (I find) to work the product using circular motions to avoid streaking (it is very hard whatever motion is used to achieve any streaking with this product). Avoid applying to much product on to the knees, elbows and ankles as it can tend to soak in and the skin becomes darker than the rest.
Once the product has been fully applied 'development time' is only 4 hours (I tend to put the product on just before bed and wake up to a beautiful glow) When fully developed the tan may look slightly dirty this means it is time to wash any residue off in the shower. Try not to use soap first time round and pat skin dry with a towel rather than rubbing - Now you tan is complete!
Always exfoliate prior to tanning (St Tropez Body Polisher is best)
Pat skin dry after washing rather than rubbing
Exfoliate every 2 days after tanning to help you skin to maintain an even, beautiful colour
Top up tan even 5-7 days to preserve colour
Moisturise ever day morning and night once tan is applied
Always leave tan at least 4 hours to develop completely
Wash hands very very very well after application (Try St Tropez Tan Remover - See my review)
Overall I feel this product is a real gem, it gives you that just back from holiday look at a tenth of the price. Find this product on sale online, in major department stores and also supermarkets - shop around for a bargain!
St Tropez is one of my all time favourite products as it allows me to achieve a natural looking tan without causing any harm to the skin. The St Tropez range is ideal for all skin types and allows you to develop and maintain a natural tan quickly and easily.
St Tropez is introduced to the consumer in three steps -
Step One - Exfoliation
Step Two - Tanning
Step Three - Moisturising
Today i will hopefully explain Step One 'Exfoliation'...
The St Tropez Body Polisher should be use prior to tanning - using this product first means your skin if fully prepped and ready to achieve a flawless, non-blotchy tan. It acts by using tiny exfoliating beads to remove dead skin particles found on the top few layers of skin. Without exfoliating the tanning products are simply applied to dead skin which will appear dull, uneven and fade very quickly.
When applying the product simply squirt a good fifty pence piece amount on to the hand and rub in a circular motion all over the body. It is best to concentrate on the dryer area's of your body such as knees, elbow's and feet (skin tends to be thicker on these area and less moisturised meaning lots of dead skin) Once the product has been fully massaged in to the skin, wash off thoroughly (Take care when washing to make sure all the exfoliating beads are removed if not your skin may feel gritty). After you skin has been rinsed pat gently with a towel rather than rubbing so not to irritate the skin, leave for a few minutes then begin Step 2 of the tanning process.
Once your tan is applied it is a good idea to use the body polisher every 2-3 days this allows the exfoliating beads to remove dead skin cell build up which can make your tan dull, it also means your tan will fade evenly all over the body.
Overall i feel this product really does live up to it's promise - it smells very pleasant (I want to say like the sea...), Last a long time (a large bottle will last you many months) and is also extremely easy to use - just hop in the shower and off you go.
The product along with the complete range is available from all good department stores, some supermarkets and online. Price wise you can pay anything from £7.00 + for a 120ml bottle but my advice would be to shop around to get a good deal.
9/10 rating - a good, all round product!
There comes a time every few months when i look down at my lily white legs and decide I need a tan. So i carelessly slap on handfuls of tanning lotion, stand around for 10 minutes trying not to smudge my treacle coloured skin. Then jump in to bed and drift off to sleep...ZzZZZZzzzz And then morning comes, i jump out of bed, take a glimpse in the mirror and oh no I've been tango'd. Tragedy you may think...... but worry no more I make a grab for the St Tropes Tanning Remover....
The product itself comes from the St Tropez tanning range, this range is specially designed for easy, realistic self tanning. It is widely available from all department stores, some supermarket's and most online beauty sites.
The remover comes in a pretty blue/green bottle and is easily assessed by a pump action dispenser. It cost's just over £10.00 per 240ml bottle which lasts a lifetime (I have has mine at least two years now). In regards to the product not much is needed just one squirt is enough to clear most tanning accidents.
The product works best on just tanned skin - it has the consistency of hair gel and is pearlesant in colour with exfoliating beads to help shift stubborn tan marks. The idea is to pump the gel in to the hands and rub together (this is ideal for those who find themselves with orange palms) once fully rubbed simply wash your hands in warm water and watch the tan fade away (repeat as necessary) Although mainly designed for hands this powerfull remover works great on the dreaded dark knee's and elbows and also can be used all over the body to tone down a orange looking tan.
Overall for the price of this product i would say it is a must for serious tan-a-holics, there are other alternative available on the market such as tan removing wipes however these don't seem to have the power that St Tropez Remover does. It is to tan as Mr Muscle is to kitchens!
I purchased the Big Rotating Styler just after Christmas - due to the sales on at the time I managed to get it for around £35.00 (So I would advise anyone interested in purchasing to shop around) Basically the product is like a big heated hair roller but the brush section spins round to create effortless volume.
The brush is quite light weight which appealed to me greatly after finding all my hair appliances very heavy due to my hair being long and taking a lot of time to dry. It works exactly the same as a barrel brush however has different heat settings and also the option to turn the barrel either forward or back (this is done by pressing the relevant button on the styler - which means you can flick or curl your hair)
The first time i used this product i was a bit disappointed as nothing seemed to happen and took a lifetime to dry my hair, I have since realised the product isn't designed for drying hair! The best way to use this is to have damp hair but not dripping wet. This allows the styler to created the bounce required! I guess the action is in the name Styler not Dryer!
I will not try to explain how i use the styler and the final result i get. Firstly take damp to nearly dry hair and section in three (Back and Sides ) Sectioning the hair allows you to style each strand so you don't end up with with a flat, lifeless section! Next position the styler at the back of the head and power-up, allow the spinning head to collect the hairs gradually allowing the hair to style and dry in the process. Once the back section is big and bouncey then repeat on the sides.
The styler creates great volume leaving your locks big and bouncy. It is also great for poofing out your fringe just let the hair collect round the styler and leave for a few seconds. Due to the brush action your hair is left feeling smooth and beautiful. I love using the product because it eliminates my need to use straighteners.
I would def recommend this product to consumers with shoulder length hair or longer. I feel that people with shorted hair really wouldn't benefit much unless it was just root life they are after.
All in all a great product 8/10
I first tried this product in a sample kit received when buying perfume from Elizabeth Arden. It was a product i just stuck in my makeup box, didn't use and forgot about. That was until one day i decided i should have a play and was converted! For such a small tube probably as long as your middle finger the product lasts for ages - This is because only a small amount of product needs to be used.
The product is designed to act a a base for eye makeup (As with the name to 'Fix' your makeup in place) the idea is to apply a small amount (half a pea size...enough for both eyes) to your index finger and apply to the bare eye lid, the product is then blended from the lid all the way to the brow bone. The product should then be left for a few moments to dry (this acts as an invisible shield to protect applied makeup). Once applied correctly the product stays put all day and keeps makeup looking fresh, vibrant and 'just applied'.
The product is of paste consistency, skin coloured and drys to a soft power like finish. The product is also great for using under the eyes to keep concealer in place and blends amazingly with little effort. Priced at just over £10.00 for 7.5ml of product it is definitelyy worth shopping around for. However in comparison to other products i have used including Smashboxx and Benefit is by far the better product and feels that much better in quality.
The tube is white and comes complete in a small box, it is ideal for handbag use as comes with a screw lid meaning no unnecessaryy spillages!
Overall i would rate the Eye Fix 9/10 - 1 point deducted for price but hey you are buying quality! Elizabeth Arden at it's best
As you read this review you may begin to query how a hula hoop can actually allow you to lose weight and tone. I must admit this was my thought when i stumbled across quick weight loss tips. But since buying this product i have never been happier.
I have always been the type of person who wants to lose a few pounds quickly so have always opted for drastic diets (which have included low calorie intake, no carbs and also ready meal diets) which I have failed at drastically. However the Hula Hoop is something i can grab for a few minutes a day and see remarkable results.
The hula hoop itself is weighted which allows you to perfect your hooping technique much easier (the weight means the hoop circles slower so is easier to keep up). I won't deny it does take a few days of practice to be able to keep the hoop 'up' and during this time you can bruise due to your body not being used to a strange object spinning round your waist but once perfected you are able to keep the hoop up for hours! Another great reason for the weighted hoop is that is means your body has to work harder thus burning more calories.
According to statistics on average half an hour of hula-hooping burns 200 calories (so eat a kit-Kat while hooping and it won't touch the sides lol). The 30 minutes can be broken up in to smaller sessions, a great tip would be when watching TV at night hula hoop through the adverts (Each advert break usually lasts 3 minutes so just ten of these would be your full workout!)
I will however give you some tips on how to perfect you hooping technique - firstly most people seem to throw their hips round and round crazily to try to keep the hoop up (this will NOT work) the best technique is to move your hips forward and back in a flicking type motion, you should be almost still when moving the hoop - the strength should come from your inner core rather than hip thrusts!
Another great point is that it the hoop is easily stored due to being made in to 8 parts which slot together quickly and simply. This means your hoop can go wherever you do! You can also add and take away these sections to make the hoop bigger/smaller. For beginners it is best to start with a large hoop meaning less effort in spinning the hoop around but as you become more advanced try taking sections away for a more challenging workout. The right size hoop is also very important it is recommended that the hoop should stand just above hip level (so with the option of adding sections to this hoop - is a great product for everyone)
There are lot of health benefits from hula hooping due to its aerobic nature these include improved blood circulation, increases heart rate, strengthens muscles and also improves the flexibility of the spine! It is also said to massage internal organs and the best part increase energy levels!
I have personally seen great results from weight hula hoops within 5 days I felt more alert and my stomach muscles felt and looked much smoother and more defined. The hoop is also great for people with the little bit extra weight to move mainly due to being easier to use than gym equipment and also because you only use it for small periods it less daunting than hitting the gym. It is always a good idea to check with you doctor before using any fitness equipment including the hula hoop.
Overall i feel this product is amazing, it is quick and easy to use. Yes the price might seem slightly steep when purchasing but you have to remember this is cheaper than one months gym membership and great because you can use in the comfort of your own home. As i sit here typing away i realise there is a product i really should review mainly down to its 100% effective results. This is and has been for many years now my most faithful friend. I would like to introduce Bonjela!
Due to my age, hormones and just general stress I am always plagued by mouth ulcers that tend to heal very slowly causing me extreme pain and making me feel even more run down. Bonjela however is my little saviour allowing me for a few minutes a day to enjoy food without rolling around on the floor in agony (yes, OK maybe i am slightly exaggerating but it really hurts!)
The idea of Bonjela is to temporarily relieve mouth pain caused by ulcers, sores and teething issues. The tube is the size of kids toothpaste and last for ages as only a small amount is needed to act as pain relief. Just simply squirt a pea sized amount on to a *CLEAN* finger (if not your just sticking more bacteria in to an open wound!) and rub gently on and around the painful area. I will warn you for a few seconds you will be jumping around the room dribbling in pain until the lovely, beautiful numbness takes hold.
The effect last around 20 minutes but can be re-applied as needed throughout the day (make sure you read pack instruction before using just to check your suitability) Personally this is the only product i have found that provides such instant pain relief to mouth ulcers. Other types can be purchased from supermarket/chemists for all age groups (Babies to Adults) and is cost effective at around £2-£3.00 a tube.
