At £0.22 per pack, asda paracetamol caplets are cheap and cheerful but do the trick! These caplets don't leave a bad taste in the mouth and are an effective analgesic. There is little point in spending extra money on branded paracetamol as they all contain the same active ingredient- therefore all will have the same effects on the human body. 500mg capsules can be taken every 4 hours so for particularly bad pain (in adults), these can be alternated with ibuprofen: Take 2 paracetamol, 2 hours later take 2 ibuprofen and repeat if necessary; taking care not to overdose. This provides effective pain relief although for mild pain, paracetamol alone may be effective and should be the first port of call, so to speak! These caplets have an indentation along the centre, which is extremely useful for giving the analgesic to children. 250mg of medication (half a caplet) is often effective for a child due to their smaller body mass and the caplets can be broken easily. This has the additional benefit of being smaller, therefore easier to swallow! The caplets are medium in size and do not have any kind of sugar coating to ease swallowing, and whilst I have never had any trouble taking them with a drink of water, a child or someone who dislikes taking tablets may struggle with this. For young children, I wouldn't recommend these tablets, whilst they contain the same active ingredients as syrups (such as calpol), they are more difficult to take and a child is more likely to put up a fuss! These tablets can be taken whilst breastfeeding but pregnant women should consult a doctor before taking the capsules to weigh up the benefits and risks of taking paracetamol.
I've already expressed how much I love my little tin of Vaseline with Aloe Vera and now I am going to rate the Original Vaseline Lip therapy tin. Like with the Aloe Vera version, the little tin is ideal for popping in my handbag before I go out to use when out and about. It is the same size and shape as the Aloe Vera version and the main difference is that the colour of the tin is blue as opposed to green. Whilst the traditional, large pots of Vaseline are undoubtedly better value for money, the little pot is practical and in my opinion very good value for money all the same. It sooths my chapped lips instantly but perhaps its best use is to protect lips against the elements. The Vaseline forms a waterproof barrier over my lips preventing the lips from drying. This is particularly useful in the winter and I regularly reapply this in order to keep my lips soft and supple. Throughout the summer I also regularly apply Vaseline to my lips, not because it is necessary, but purely because it gives my lips a subtle shine and makes them look healthy and gives them a bit of a lift without looking s though I have made any effort. I do find however, that Vaseline is a little sticky when on my lips and as a result, my hair does sometimes stick to my lips if it is particularly windy weather and I have recently reapplied the Vaseline to my lips. Also, applying Vaseline to my lips before going to bed moisturises them very intensively and my lips always feel amazing when I wake up in the morning. Even if they felt dry the day before, by morning, my lips feel very soft!! Whilst I love my little pot of Original Vaseline, I prefer the version with added Aloe Vera as, to me, it feel more luxurious and less sticky. I have rated this vaseline as though it is a lip balm, but infact it is so much more than that!! It is extremely versatile and can haev a number of different uses: as an intensive moisturiser for dry skin or on eyelids under eyeshadow to make it appear shiny are just two of the many uses of vaseline. I have rated this 4/5 as I do prefer the Aloe Vera version out of the range but nonetheless I would definitely reccommend this!!!!
Having a pair of comfortable black pumps is a wardrobe staple for me as they are extremely versatile and are ideal to be worn formally or if you want a more casual look!! These shoes are extremely good value for money as they only cost around £7 but can be worn with any outfit and I've seen similar pumps are sold elsewhere for up to £30. These pumps are very simple, with a matte black leather look and a small bow on the front. The addition of a bow on the front is a lovely touch as it gives the pumps a feminine look without looking over the top or detracting from the classic elegance of the shoe. Despite the price of the shoe, the bow doesn't look cheap but is a lovely addition. These shoes would suit people of all age ranges and all different styles due to the understated nature of them. They are also available from George instore and online from sizes 3 - 9. Whilst I don't suffer from a problem with shoe size; I have friends who have size 8 and size 9 feet and sometimes struggle to buy shoes as some major retailers don't stock their size. I have found they are very true to size and whilst they stretch a little, it is not enough to make them slip off my feet or feel loose in any way. The shoes are leather look which means they are waterproof however the opening for the shoe is quite large so if it's raining, your feet may get a bit wet! There is a very slightly raised heel but on the whole the sole is very thin meaning these shoes do wear away quite quickly; however this is to be expected from ballerina pumps as it is the style of the shoe. After all, at £7 a pair I can afford to replace them after a few months!! Also, I do walk 2 miles in them every day- wear and tear is to be expected. The wear on these pumps is no worse than other, more expensive, pumps I have bought of a similar style. These shoes are very comfortable and, unlike most shoes, I have never had any trouble with shoes rubbing or blisters. However, they don't offer your feet a lot of support: It kind of feels like walking down the street in your slippers!!
I couldn't live without my little pot of Vaseline; it is ideal for popping in my handbag before I go out to use when out and about. I totally love this particular lip balm as it is silky smooth on my lips and doesn't feel sticky. I assume the richer texture is due to the addition of Aloe Vera, which has the added benefit of giving the Vaseline a delicious scent. It sooths my lips instantly and resolves the problem of chapped lips within a few days as well as acting as a barrier against the elements- protecting my lips and preventing chapping and drying. This lip balm leaves my lips feeling soft and supple and I have also been known to use it on my elbows to reduce dryness. The small tin is ideal and the lid is removed easily by twisting it: meaning it is practical to use on the go. Also, there is 20g of Vaseline in each pot which, although doesn't sound a lot, I have had the current pot I use for months and it still practically full. At £1.99 it is a total bargain and a must-have to either prevent or cure dry, chapped lips.
I first bought Tresemme shampoo and conditioner about three years ago and have never looked back! Tresemme Colour Protection Shampoo is extremely good value for money as the bottle is very large and lasts a long time. I do not find the size of the bottles a problem when using them but I can see that they would be awkward if there was limited space or to take away on holiday. There are smaller versions available if this is more convenient, however I simply transfer a small amount of shampoo into another bottle if the situation arises. The shampoo itself really is excellent. Only a small amount is necessary to lather my hair and coupled with Tresemme conditioner, it leaves my hair feeling silky smooth and, most importantly, clean! As a result of using this shampoo, I have noticed that my hair is a more vibrant colour and the colour does last longer than with a regular shampoo. My sister used this shampoo despite having uncoloured hair and even she noticed that her natural hair colour was enhanced and looked visibly shinier. The scent of this shampoo is not overpowering, nor is it particularly girly however it leaves hair smelling fresh and clean and is a generally pleasant scent!
I was extremely excited to see this nail varnish as the effects on the adverts looked quirky and fun. Therefore, I decided to purchase the nail varnish in both black and white. However, I was extremely disappointed when a tried the nail varnish as I found the brush too small to coat the whole nail in one coat, therefore ruining the effect. The nail varnish itself is too thick and I found that it didn't produce the cracking effect advertised. The nail varnish in white reminded me slightly of dried toothpaste!!! I do not recommend buying this nail varnish but instead, spending more money on a nail varnish which is high quality and produces the desired effect. It also took a long time to dry and I found I had one or two nails that looked ok but the others didn't produce the effect I was after. This was consistent with the nail varnish in both black and white. This nail varnish was inexpensive but it looked cheap and I have not used it since.
I could not live without my GHD's; they are definitely a worthy investment!!! They are extremely versatile and work on a number of different hair types: I have medium thickness, long, wavy hair and use GHD's to straighten my hair daily. It only takes about 10 minutes in the morning and I have poker straight hair for the rest of the day! I have also straightened a friend's hair which is usually very long, thick and curly and whilst she had a few kinks left in her hair I think this was more to do with my technique than the straighteners! Nonetheless the GHD's worked much better than cheaper alternatives and are well worth the money. GHD's can also be used to easily curl hair as well as straighten it and whilst my sister swears by using GHD's to curl her hair, I still feel that conventional curling tongs are easier to use. Overall, GHD hair straighteners are very simple to use and generally are vastly superior to cheaper alternatives. I have owned my GHD's for 5 years now and they still work extremely well. They heat up almost instantly and reach very high temperatures so I recommend using heat protection spray. Whilst there are cheaper alternatives on the market, it is worth spending the extra money for GHD's as they really are in a class of their own.
