Bite club, book 10 in the Morganville saga. As usual we follow Claire and her housemates through the twists and turns tha Morganville and the Vampire residents have to give them.
In this book it starts off with a delivery of a gym leaflet, offering martial arts classes to the Morganville people. Shane instantly likes the look of it and goes straight into it. Claire worrying as usual goes along to keep an eye on thigs but she doesnt like what she sees and goes elsewhere with Eve, her other housemate.
She starts to see changes in Shane and its not for the good, he starts being angry towards Michael, the vampire housemate in the glass house and it rapidly gets worse. Being drafted into the more advanced group in the gym, Shane starts fighting in the ring with not only other humans but with vampires. He meets a new vampire Gloriana and with her special gift of glamour she makes him do as she wishes and that it to hate vampires and fight to the death for his freedom and cash he longs for, not only for him but for Claire too.
The 3 remaining housemates stubble across a website for immortal battles, not only shocked at what they see on the screen they are also terrified when they see Shane fighting in the ring but just exactly was it filmed and did he survive?
Claire has to go to the one person she has just helped throw into prison for help andshe really doesnt like it, not only because she hates the person but she has to go through the founder of the town and head vampire Amelie to get to the prisoner. But wilat will happen to the people who are stuck in the immortal battles and will Shane ever see Claire again?
Claire finds a lead that could take them to the immortal battles and to Shane but it doesnt end well, Amelie and Oliver tells her that anyone found guilty in the immortal battles will die Claire has to find Shane and get him home before Amelie does, but its not as easy as she thinks and to add to her problems Michael goes missing too.
With the return of Amelies father Mr Bishop aswell as the new arrival of Gloriana will this be the end of Morganville, Claire and her housemates or will they get help and free Shane from the battle of his life? Im afraid you will have to read the book to find out yourself.
If your new to Morganville i strongly suggest that you pick the first book up before you even think about reading this book, although there is alot of recaps that refer to the other books you really need to read the first 9 books before this one to actually know whats going off and understand the struggles that Claire and her friends have to go through.
I liked this book because it has touched something that no other book i have read have done. There is alot of action and heartache in this book, just like book 8 it pulls on your heart stings again and it seems like a constant struggle for Claire to just live her life. The fighting that Shane is drawn into just taps into the hidden hurt that he has felt for years, since his sister died after not being able to save her from the house fire, the way he found his mother dead in the bathtub and the abuse from his father and the evenutal death of his father. Its hard to read Shane act the way he does knowing he really does love Claire but you just want to believe that everything will work out in the end.
Rachel Caine has a real talent for drawing you in to the story and keeping you there so you will read the next book. I have fell in love with the Morganville books and i would recommend the to anyone. They are suitable for teens because there isnt much bad language in there and not really any reference to sex but the story is also entertaining for adults to and all can enjoy these books. Please pick them up and give them a try because if it wasnt for my wife recommending them to me then i would never have read them myself.
Welcome to Morganville, a small town in Texas where everyone fears the dark.
Claire danvers, a 16 (nearly 17) year old girl who is outstandingly clever. Having just left home and gone to tpu college in the small town on Morganville ( 2 years ahead of her peers) she quickly discovers that its not all fun and games being away from home. After making enemies with one of the most popular and scary girls in Morganville she gets beaten up and thrown down some stairs with a warning. SHE WILL GET WHATS COMING TO HER.
Realising that she has 2 choices either move out of the doors or end up dead, she finds an ad in the paper for a housemate. Taking a taxi to the house with alot of doubts she meets with one of the house mates outside, Eve Rosser.
Eve takes pity on Claire and is happy for her to move in, however the house owner Michael is very reluctant to have an underage girl in the house. Michael ( the smartest and most resposible housemate) gives her a month to find somewhere else and then move out, but nothing ever goes to plan in Morganville.
Claire quickly finds out just how scary Morganville actually is, threatened by vampires and humans, nearly gets killed a number of times and having to find the one thing the vampires want most, to get her housemate Shane out of a very sticky situation.
I normally wait until my wife has read books and wait for her reactions about them before reading them myself but i must say that i really enjoyed this book and the series that follow. To say it is a teen book it still appeals to the older generation.
I enjoyed following the main character Claire around as she faces some of the most difficult battles of her life as well as the start of her romance with another one of the min characters. Rachel Caine has really made the characters come to life in this book and really draws you into the story. Also finishing the book the way she has, it makes you pick the second book up just to know what happens.
I have seen at least 3 different covers for this book but i must say i like the black cover with the very attractive woman on the front and all the books that follow (a total of 11 so far) also follow in line with this cover. The 300+ pages are easy to read and it doesnt make you think that your reading a huge book, infact i read this book overnight because i couldnt put it down without knowing what was going to happen and why.
Ive had to shop around to buy the rest of the books because not all places sell them and some that do are very expensive. The best place i have found is wh smiths and they are selling between £5.00 and £9.00.
I really think you should give this book a try because not only will you love the charaters you will love the story too and it is a breath of fresh air ready about some bad ass vampires rather than the twinkly ones that fall in love with an innocent girl.
Me and my wife have been through quite a few coffee machines in the past. Not that i have any say in them because i rarely drink coffee, its all for my wife. I must admit i do like the smell of fresh coffee in the mornings though, it reallys feels like home when i smell it.
I had doubts about the Tassimo to be honest, i looks like any other coffee machine that we have had that take pods i.e the sensio.
I bought it for my wife after months of agro and was quite suprised with it. I rarely drink coffee because it can be too strong for me but i found that we can get 2 cups of coffee out of one pod, The first one is strong but the second cup is exactly how i like it, very week.
I also like the fact that you can fill up the tank at the back of the machine ( 2litre capacity) and make as many cups as you want out of that one tank of water. Its nice not to have to refill the water into the machine after 3 cups of coffee.
The T-discs (pods) are a little expensive if you like to drink alot of coffee. Ive seen them ranging between £3.50 and £4.50 depending on where you shop. They are sometimes on offer at tesco and asda that i have noticed and you can sometimes pick them up for around £3.00
The machine is quick making a plain coffee however if you are wanting a coffee with the milk too you have to put in the milk pod after the coffee pod. It is ok if you are only making 1 or 2 cups but if you have friends round i would recommend boiling the kettle and making it the good old fashioned way.
The range of drinks you can make with the Tassimo are Tea, Hot chocolate, esspresso, Cafe Creme, Cappuccino, Latte and Macchiato. I Havent tried all the flavours but the tea is very nice, same as some of the coffees and my children love the hot chocolates.
The machine is very compact. It doesnt look like an eyesore like other coffee machines we have had. It looks sleek and it is very easy to clean.
It comes with clear instructions on how to clean the machine and they are very easy to understand.
I would recommend this to coffee and tea lovers, both the coffee, tea and hot chocolate taste beautiful and we have also had comments that the cofee taste just like it would in a coffee shop.
We brought this when it was on offer at £79.99 and so far it is worth every penny
I got this phone on contract from orange after my last nokia had major problems and had to repeatedly send back. The operater told me that this phone was a contender to the iphone but to be honest i had my doubts and even though i took the phone out with them i have noticed that the phone does lack some essential elements.
Although i do love my phone i have found that the phone has a very flimsy touch screen, something thats not good in my job profession and i have had to have the screen repaired once already, although since the screen has been repaired it seems alot stronger. After having the phone for about 3 weeks the screen itself was coming away from the casing, i phoned orange and they sent for it to be repaired yet again. After i got it back i havent had a problem in the actual structure of the phone but i was unhappy to have to pay for somethings that should be looked at before the phone had even been able to sell.
Secondly i have found that if i dont update my phone as soon as the updates appear on my screen, my touch screen stops working all together and i have to send it off to be repaired once that has happened. I have asked orange about this and all they tell me is that its a fault with the phone and they have alot of nokias coming in with the same problems. I feel that nokia need to sort themselves out and make sure the phones work perfectly before letting them go for sale.
Other than the things i have mensioned above, everything about the phone is great.
The camera is one of the best ive seen on a phone, apart from the iphones and htc's. My pictures are very clear and even when i have printed them out they still look very clear.
To send a message can be a little tricky when you first get the phone, i took me a good 20 minutes to figure it out before i got the hand of things but once i had i havent had a problem.
The apps i have been able to download to my phone is great, pretty much everything you can get on the iphone you can get on here and my kids love that they can play games like angry birds and colouring games on my phone although i do hav to be carefl because you can easily go onto the internet on the games which charges me.
The one thing on my phone that i have relied on a hell of alot is the satnav. Its great that i dont have to carry around a satnav anymore and that when i got the phone i also got a holder for inside the car although whilst the phone is on the satnav it really drains the battery so be prepared and take you car charger with you.
Memory on the phone is huge, i have been downloading practically everything i can find and still havent been able to fill it. Im not sure exactly how much memory i do have on the phone but i have put a full length film onto the phone to watch whilst i have been at work in the evenings and the phone didnt slow down because of it and there was still plenty of memory for the rest of my songs and pictures amongst other things on there too.
I have got this phone in silver but i have noticed that it is very easily scratched so buying a cover for it wouldnt be a waste of money. As it stand i have had this phone for nearly a year now and apart from the times it has had to go in for repair that i have stated above its a pretty good phone. All you have to remember is to update as soon as the message tells you too and have a look at the screen when you first recieve it as it may be a little flimsy and if so try and get the company you got it from to repair it.
I would recommend this phone to people who havent go the money for an iphone or htc and still want a phone that is pretty close to them, i have really enjoyed having this phone but like i say be prepared to have to get it repaired because it will only be a matter of time.
my wife brought this not too long ago and it works a treat. we can put our joint of meat in the slowcooker in the morning when we get up and we are able to go out and do what we wish to do without worring about burning dinner. the meat comes out really tender too which is a massive bonus
we have made so many things in this slow cooker and the tast of the food has been great so far.
very easy to clean out and it looks very stylish in the kitchen too. its not an eyesore like many slow cookers i have seen.
makes a lovely stew and doesnt take too much space up on your worktop either.
great that its a 6.5 litre because not only can you put your joint of meat in you can also fit in your roast potatoes although they dont come out crispy so you have to finish them off in the oven
makes enough stew/casserole for at least a family of 4
cant place a thing wrong with it
Me and my wife brought this after our last one broke and for a few weeks it was wonderful. the chips cooked nicely and tasted great, the same with the other food we cooked in it however after a few weeks we noticed that the "cool wall" wasnt staying cool anymore. we phoned asda and they told us to bring it back to change it, we followed their advice and changed the fryer.
again it worked for a few weeks perfectly until one day i turned it on and waited for it to heat up. luckly i was on the other side of the kitchen because the whole top of the fryer and the lid melted from the heat. i ended up with boiling fat all over the place. luckly no one was hurt.
we phoned asda and brought the fryer back to them, they offered their appologies and offerd us another one, which we declined and as got a full refund and a gift voucher.
i urge everyone not to buy this fryer because you might not be as lucky as we was and someone might get hurt. its a total waste of money and time to go and collect it. like i said it only works for a few weeks before you start getting problems.
i brought this phone for my wife after days of badgering and i have to say its brilliant. its very thin which is great for her handbag, or so she keeps telling me.
the camera is very clear and you can zoom quite alot to take photos that are far away.
very easy to dowload apps aswell as get rid of any apps you no longer want anymore. the battery life wasnt too good when we first brought it but after a few charges the battery seemed to hold its charge a lot longer.
very easy to understand however i think you need to take a couple of hours to get to grips with everything before you start downloading.
can be used as a modem which has been great when our internet went down and i needed to get on line to do some work, although it seemed a little slow trying to open different pages it still worked a treat.
a little confusing when you plug it into your computer to transfer files and photos but once you have got to grips with doing it and you know what to look for your fine.
the screen is ver delicate though, we found that out when my wife dropped her phone on the living room floor which is carpeted and cracked the top of the screen and it gradually got worse. the screens are also expensive to replace too. we took the phone to carphone warehouse and they wanted to charge £170 for a new screen. Infact the cheapest one we have found is £79.
the phone is very easy to use, infact my 5year and 3 year old can download and play the games on the phone, its that easy.
alot of free apps for the phone too which is a bonus.
the speakers are loud for when you have it on loud speaker or just listening to some music.
all in all a brilliant phone. a deffinate must buy.
alot better than the iphone thats for sure
I first looked at this and thought it was ideal for me because i work very early in the morning and like something substantial before i go to work. The price was brilliant at £29.00 from argos and after i had set my toaster to how i like it, it cooked it perfectly. It doesnt take too long to cook and not only does it make poached eggs but you also have the option to have boiled eggs and you can keep your meats warm whilst your toast and eggs are cooking.
the toast is done before your eggs but it gives you time to get your toast buttered and cut before the eggs are cooked.
the only problem i have occured is the fact that when im off work and my 2 children want the same as me i have to make it one at a time so we dont all get to sit down and eat breakfast together but it does only take around 3 minutes for it to cook.
the machine itself is very stylish, although on the long side of things. you can keep it on your work surface without much of a problem however we put ours in a cupboard because of how long it is.
a brilliant piece of equiptment though and the best toaster i have brought in a long while.
just a shame it only make one egg at a time though because i do like 2 with 2 slices of toast but its very quick and very easy to use and brilliant if you dont have a lot of time in the mornings for your breakfast. it doesnt take too much longer than it would if you made a bowl of cereal
