Fat Face and its online counterpart evolved in the late 80's when two friends were trying to earn some extra cash to elongate their stay in the French Alps!
The ethos of the products is that the clothes and accesories are designed for people who like to get out there and do stuff, be it on the ski slopes, the mountains of the sea.
I have bought countless items ranging from bikini's to jumpers both from their stores and website and I have always been pleased with the quality of their products.
Fat Face offers clothing and accessories at high street prices which are slightly steeper than competitors like Top Sop however remain on a par with other similar stores such as ripcurl. You can expect to pay around £50 for a nice hoody and £30 for a generic top or t-shirt. However as stated earlier the quality is fantastic, the products wash really well and continue to look new months after purchase.
I have always had positive experiences in store as staff always appear relaxed and happy in their jobs.
Fat Face also offer what they call "Hassle Free Returns" which has been useful when buying gifts for friends and family. I have only returned two items but on both occasions I have been issued a refund without question.
A little bonus is Fat Faces' charity donations as they are affiliated with outdoor rescue charities and also conservation groups.
I have had a few good experiences with benefit make up so on a recent trip to the department store I found myself leaving with this in one of those gorgeous little bags!
Like all mu other experiences with benefit I wasn't disappointed! Here's what I thought...
The price; I paid £20 at Deb's which is on the steeper end of mid range! I have to say I always bought cheap make up (and sometimes till do) before I discovered benefit but I always find their products great so I reluctantly part with that extra money knowing Im going to get something worth it!
The product; packaged in an attractive box it has four shades of blush which are intended (i think) to be swirled together.
The colour; everyones skin will "wear" it slightly differently however on my average skin tone it appears a peachy pink.
The scent; unusual for a blush but it has quite a sweet fruity scent which is a little bonus I wasn't expecting!
The brush; for a freebie its actually quite good! I usually discard the applicators which accompany make up but I quite like this and its stayed firmly in place in the box!
The effect; this product appeared very natural which gave me a "glow" for want of another word! Like all benifit products it looks and feels subtle which is why I love them!
I have to say I am a bit of a deodorant floozy and tend to buy what ever is on offer! This month it was Sure Crystal and I have found a product that I would buy again! Here;s what I thought:
Price; as I said it was on offer when I bought it but it is retailing in boots for £1.89 which I would say is comparable to the other big names out there.
Fragrence; Not too strong so it doesn't clash with body sprays of perfumes. It just has that nice clean soapy smell if you know what I mean!
Feel; very light to wear, no white marks on body or clothing and it has been kind to my sometimes sensitive skin.
Quantity; the bottle contains 250mls, I bought mine three weeks ago and use about three times a day(!) first thing in the morning, when changing after work and after a run/shower on an evening. N.B. I think one application would be fine as it seems long lasting this is just my routine!
Apperance; fairly attractive silver bottle, these things aren't made for the curve appeal but this bottle is probably one of the nicer ones. It has quite a feminine look to it.
Application; aerosol spray which is quite stiff for the first couple of applications. Not so great for the o-zone layer I suppose!
Does it work?; Yes! I have an active job and my uniform my as well be a bin bag and it keeps me sweat free! It struggles on my runs but I havent found a spray that doesnt yet!
Overall I have had no trouble and have been satisfied with this product. It has not changed my world but then I would be surprised if a deodorant did!
Would I buy it again? Yes
I have had my Apollo town and trail for just over a year now and I have to say that it was a complete and utter waste of money!
I bought the bike for £118 when it was reduced from £180 so I thought that I would have a half decent bike for my money. All I wanted from my bike was a few gears to get me up and down hills and the ability to chose between cycling on the road or the bridal ways.
Here is what I found...
Appearance: A good maroon colour and sturdy looking frame is ruined by cheap looking stickers which plaster the bike with the word Apollo, just in case you forgot what you had bought!
Weight: Unsure exactly but its heavy. Too heavy. What seemed of little significance in the store becomes a lot more important when your trying to haul it onto your roof rack or, indeed up a hill!
I would not be able to place this bike on my car without the help of a strong friend!
Gears: Left is one to three and right is one to six. There is some difference and they are of use but in comparisons to other bikes which I have borrowed from friends or hired they do seem to be lacking.
Breaks: My breaks have the infuriating habbit of hugging my wheel at all times, even when not being applied making getting the bike up hills even more dificult. (N.B. I have had this adjusted quite a few times but they still revert to their favourite place on the wheel).
Performance: The bike does get you from A to B but I would not advise it for prolonged journeys or regular use. The saddle would need replacing with something much more comfortable for example and for regular use a lighter bike would be on my wish list.
The bike has recently started to creak. I weight 10st. It creaks with every spiral of the pedal. It is embarrassing. I am no longer riding my bike.
In fairness it has done ok on the off road tracks, it seems to get a good grip of muddy tracks and holds firm in gravel.
Overall: I would not buy this bike again, even if just for occaional use. I would definately reccomend spending that extra £50 - £100 and go to a dedicated bike shop and tell them what you are after in a bike.
I have always been a fan of foam burst products and i think that this is mostly due to my child like amazement of watching a little blob of liquid turn into a great big lather of bubbles which in essence is exactly what this product does.
The product does not exactly jump off the shelves in the supermarket but its classic design means that it looks fine propped up in your shower, not something you need to hide dependant upon who might be coming over!
The bottle does manage to stay stood up and up to press unlike many shower gels it doesn't slide around or jump off the shower shelves!
The shower gel is great, it smells amazing and you keep the lovely soapy clean smell and feeling all day whilst the hints of cocoa and vanilla also stay around for a good few hours.
Shaving wise it does all it needs to, the lather is good and it keep your skin nice and moisturised afterwards.
I also tend to have quite sensitive skin and its been absolutely fine so an extra thumbs up from me.
I bought my bottle for £2.15 which I think is fairly standard and to say that you get shower gel and shaving foam in one product its actually quite a good deal.
Finally, the bottle advertises that there is over 40 washes in a can, which will of course be subjective but I have had my bottle for two weeks now (16 - 17 showers!) and its still going strong!
Abersoch is located on the Llyn peninsular of beautiful North Wales.
Abersoch is the hub of the tourist scene on the Llyn peninsular and differs greatly from the surrounding villages of the peninsular.
It has become an extremely popular holiday destination mostly due to its world famous sailing waters.
Abersoch is now attracting a trendy crowd, the new scene will not however necessarily appeal to the usual visitors to the peninsular. The village is a hive of activity whose population swells by thousands in the summer season thanks to the large holiday parks and second home owners.
High street in Abersoch would not look out of place on the trendy Cornish coast with its cacophony of surf shops and Delhi's.
There is also a good dining scene which will suit the most international of tastes with Mexican, Indian and Thai food all within a stones throw of the vast sandy beaches.
Waterspout instruction, coastal walks and a gallop on a well natured Welsh Cob will tire you out in a morning and provide the perfect excuse for an afternoon relaxing on the beach.
There is a plethora of accommodation around Abersoch ranging from camp-sites to high end cottage rentals, but groups should beware, nearly every single accommodation provider whether it be a farmers field of a boutique B&B have a no groups policy.
The village has a host of summer events and festivals from Jazz to Regattas and there is certainly a buzz about the place.
We combined our stay with one in a quieter part of the peninsular and as much as we loved the trendy bars and café's, Abersoch is just a little too trendy amd a little too posh and dare I say it... a little too English for an ideal Welsh holiday destination.
Head and Shoulders seem to have had a face lift! I recently spotted what appeared to be a new range when I was doing my supermarket shopping.
Colour care was part of that range so I picked up a bottle of the shampoo ans conditioner and I was pleasantly surprised with the results.
Like most people who buy the product I have had problems with psoriasis and the product was gentle and caused no reaction from my sensitive scalp.
Unlike some anti dandruff shampoos this actually looks after your hair too, it left mine soft to touch with a bright and shiny appearance.
The shampoo will range in price dependant upon which store you buy it from, however this shampoo falls into a mid range price bracket and offers a top class result!
After two weeks of use I had a clear scalp free from any flakes, soft manageable hair and bright colour. Your hair is left looking healthy and smelling great.
The only downside I can find perhaps is that you need slightly larger blobs of the stuff to do the same job as other shampoos but I am really having to clutch at straws to come up with any negatives!
I have tried much more expensive shampoos specifically designed for my blonde hair and the results have not been so striking.
Everyone needs a vacuum!
When my cheap machine broke a few months ago I thought a quick trip down the shops would be all it took before I was sucking up the dog hairs again!
To my surprise there are hundreds of vacuums out there.
So, what did I want/need?
I wanted change for £100 and a vacuum that worked.
What did I get?
I got Hetty, for the plain and simple reason that she looked funny. Plus I went home with £28 change from my £100 budget.
What have I gained from Hetty?
Suction is excellent with two speeds, one for everyday and the rooms which I dont allow the dogs in. The second for the areas which are constantly populated by muddy boots and dog paws.
The machine is so easy to manoeuvre, I can wiggle it into places that my old stand up machine only visited once a month when I pulled my furniture out.
A long electricity cord means I spend less time faffing around changing plugs.
A large bag capacity again saves time faffing.
She is strong. She survives daily attacks by two crazy dogs and has fallen down the steps twice. She remains in full working order with only the slightest graze to her face!
The vacuum is also fairly quiet compared to my last monster of hoover.
I would definitely recommend this product.
Vera Wang is best known for her bridalwear creations however she has created a great fragrance line which I instantly fell in love with whilst roaming the departure lounge on a recent holiday.
I bought my 100ml bottle for about £25 after the exchange rate which I considered to be very reasonable these days.
What does it look like?
A very simple and classic design, there are much prettier bottles which you could decorate your bedside table with.
How does it smell?
Very floral and feminine. I picked up quite a lot of vanilla which I love and this perfume has managed to include this without making the aroma too sickly sweet.
Does it last?
The smell is very strong at first and for the first hour or so you will catch it at every turn you make. By mid morning it is still there and noticable to others but not yourself. Late afternoon would require a few extra squirts if you want to keep the lovely waft following you around.
Does it change?
Yes i think so, I was very much hit by the floral scents when first wearing it but as time passes and the aroma develops it the vanilla and a more smokey scent seems to over take this.
Day or evening?
Definately daytime for me, and probably not one for work, more of a saturday out with the girls.
Will I buy it again?
I bought this camera for my dad who had never had a digital camera before.
Being slightly more mature in years I wanted a great quality product which was not so jam packed with tech that it would be difficult for him to use.
The coolpix has certainly not disappointed us!
Relatively inexpensive it is a small light camera which boasts 10 megapixels and three times optical zoom.
Is it worth it?
For an every day family camera the nikon performs well. Perhaps those budding photographers out there wouldn't be too impressed with some of the quality when pictures are blown up however cameras within this price range are usually only used for everyday use.
Whats it like?
The camera can be switched on and taking pictures within seconds opposed to some more complex models which take a minute or two to load up all its gadgets and gizmos.
The menu options are simple to use and the lay out is very user friendly. The camera comes complete with all the standard editing features and modes for different weather and lighting conditions. The good old self timer also gives ample time for running in front of camera for you to take pride of place in a shot.
It comes complete with a lithium battery and charger and we have found the battery life to be more than adequate.
Lets be honest, most of us take up running to loose a couple of pounds. This was certainly the case for me and once I had slimmed down I have found that I have continued hitting the road on an evening as I now really enjoy it!
This is what I did:
To loose weight you need to make a commitment to running regularly, round the park once a week just isnt going to cut it!
If you are a complete novice start with an achievable distance of perhaps a mile. I am not suggesting that you run it all run what you can and walk the rest! I found intervaling running and fast walking a great way to build up my stamina. I used lots of tricks to cover the distance such as running the stretch of road between two lamp posts and walking the next.
This way you keep motivated throughout the whole run! As your fitness improves you will notice that you can extend the running distances and this feels a great achievement.
Of course the more you run the quicker you notice these improvements and your distances can be extended.
I would advise to choose a couple of different routes which you alternate following no particular order. This way you can get used to running different gradients of hills etc. but more importantly no undesirable characters will be able to follow your routine and predict where you may be at a particular time.
Once your fitness levels are up, instead of alternating walking and joging try sprinting and jogging. Speed work burns a greater amount of calories and can increase the speed of your resting metabolism.
Make sure you get the safety bit right.
Vary your routes.
Get a good pair of trainers.
Warm up and cool down.
If you run with music on make sure that you can hear traffic noise.
If running in the dark make sure you are visible to cars and that you dont run anywhere too lonely.
Try to enjoy it. If after a month of going out regularly you still hate it and have to force yourself out for a run maybe their are other ways of loosing weight which you would enjoy more. We are all more likely to become more dedicated to things which we enjoy.
What a beautiful car!
I must confess, it is not mine, it is my husbands but I drive it at every little opportunity!
A third generation s line it has all the va va voom tiere talks about in those clio adverts!
Our car is an automatic with two main modes: drive and sport.
Sport is a lot of fun!
Six gears mean that you can use the car really economically in drive mode.
Drive quality is really smooth and it does seem to grip the road really well.
The interior seems to be typical audi however this is a formulae which doesnt need improving. The standard aluminium inlays with cloth an leather finishings around the interior.
In built satnav is a real plus however it does tend to get "stuck" at times which has caused us a few problems.
The front passenger airbag can also be deactivated quickly and easily without much faffing around.
The sat nav screen doubles up as a screen with all the radio details on and audio is played by an sd card however despite having the car for two years we have not used this once.
The car feels luxurious and for the forgetful sorts like me will lock its self when you forget!
Audi isnt the cheapest make around but we have not had one scrap of trouble from this car so it would seem that quality does cost more, but its worth it!
I have owned my sports tourer since January and on the whole it has been a fantastic car.
Minor details to point out at the begining:
It is the wrong picture,
My car has a two litre engine (there is not an option on here for that engine size)
Like most people I wanted more space but I didnt want to compromise on looks too much. The sports tourer is a good looking estate!
Its initial sale price new was around £17.000 so when you buy second hand your getting a lot of car for your money. There are gadgets galore inside my motor!
I can pop my back seats down and get two bikes, camping gear and two big dogs in the back of my car!
I have a 6 cd changer, auxillary point and good radio service. This can all be controlled from the steering wheel.
Two in the front which can be easily switched on and off.
Cruise control and speed limiter.
Mine is a rather dull beige.
Automatic lock when you drive off, can be switched on or off.
Control from the driving seats over childlocks for the doors and windows in the back.
Its a really comfy drive and the car feels sturdy - I feel safe and well protected in it.
The car has been really reliable so far and has not given me any problems.
I would definitely recommend to anyone.
Shallow as I am, I only rented this film to have a good look at Gerrard Butler! Staring alongside Jenifer Aniston this film would seem to have two key ingredients for a great couple of hours. Centered around Butlers turbulent character and the broken down marriage of the characters the storyline follows the development of their relationship.
It is I have to say an extremely predictable film and should only be watched to pass the time on a rainy afternoon!
There did seem to be a good onscreen chemistry between ansiton and butler and they are both faultless actors however the storyline is just lacking in something!
There are plenty of comical moments which do keep your attention and without giving away the plot there are a few twists and turns which kept my interest whilst Butler wasnt on screen!
The film made me giggle in places, made me cringe at the chiche's in others.
The film was ok at the time but I have to say its instantly forgettable, hence my dodgy review.
Benefit Some Kinda Gorgeous Foundation Faker is a big name for a small product!
However what this product lacks in size it makes up for in quality.
I am not a make up junkie and I like the small amount that I do wear to look very natural and this foundation definately does.
I remeber going to the counter in benifit and asking for a great looking light foundation and powder and this is what the glamorous girl produced. At just over £20 it is slightly more that I would like to have paid however when I think that it is both products in one the price seemed much more affordable.
The packaging is absolutely gorgeous and the feel of the foundation is a gorgeous silky soft texture. You honesty don't feel like you are wearing anything.
The foundation can last through a tough day in the office and a big night on the town without slipping or wearing off.
It also provides a great base for blushers, eyeshadows and eyeliners.
I have also found that there is no need for concealer when you are wearing this.
I would definately reccoment this product to anyone, there are two tones for plaer and darker skin, I buy the paler one and find that this blends naturally both when I have a big tan on holiday and when Im pale and pasty in the winter!
