A great film that is worth the money

Ok I really like Arnold Schwarzenegger, I loved him in Junior, the Terminator, Twins and many more films. He is one of these people who can do an action movie, kids movie, romance movie and a bit comedy and put them toghether in a single film. Now this is a 1990's film so don't expect very good effects and a sort of background music that is way to over dramatic. You often see it in films like this, however this trend has thankfully faded away. Back to the film, I first watched this when I was quite young actually. I was about 10 when I first saw this, even though it is certificate 15. The cover is actually quite misleading as you would think it was one of these films that is like 'Daddy Daycare' or 'Mrs Doubtfire' a lovely kids film about an adult who finds himself in a situation. NO however, never judge a DVD by its cover! The film is actually an action packed movie filled with guns, drugs and murder but also has screaming kids, a very sweet romance and childhood innocence. Here is the plot to give you the story of this strange concept. Plot John Kimble (Arnold Schwarzenegger) a tough cop with attitude who is on a case to find and bring to jail a vicious drug dealer. In a high flying, action packed introduction we see Kimble with guns and shooting ALOT but by the time he gets his man, Cullen Crisp (Richard Tyson) the witness is mysteriously killed. Kimble looses the case and is forced to give up. However they find out his ex-wife and son may be the key to sending Crisp to jail. Toghether with detective Phoebe O'Hara, (Pamela Reed) they go undercover to find the ex-wife Joyce Palmieriof/Rachel Myatt (Penelope Miller) to protect her and her son from him. Crisp only wants his little boy back in an obsession he has developed to find him after she left him. But Kimble and O'Hara have no idea what they look like and a plan is created to make Phoebe a substitute teacher in what is suspected as the boys class. Phoebe, the light and humorous character in the film, gets very sick however from over eating and is forced to give up being the substitute, but someone else has to do it... In comes tough lugs Kimble, who simply has no idea about children, to take over the post in need of the mission. Immediately however the kids take over, even though they are all Kindergarten (Nursery) children who are just loud, needy and desperate for something fun to do. They basically take over and Kimble looses it. This tough guy with guns, the coolest person in the film, lost it to 20 kids. However he pulls it together and stays with the mission, desperate to find out who the son of Crisp is. He uses many techniques like asking the kids what their daddies do, playing games and finding out more about the mothers. But as he finds out very quickly, most of the mothers at the school are single (most fancying him!) and he desperately tries to find the son. Never did he know that Miss Myatt is actually Joyce Palmieri, who they were looking for. She is a 3rd grader teacher, who is beautiful and who Kimble starts to fall for. The tough guy is slowly becoming a softy! In rather sweet moments he takes her out to dinner and finds out her son is actually in his class. Can you see where this is going? In a thunderous, romantic and gun filled ending you will be shocked and surprised. It really is an action packed movie, with a dip in the middle for nursery children playing and annoying Kimble. The Up's The film is a very odd mix of genres and would easily appeal to both action lovers and romantic buffs. Of course this is a must see for Arnie fans, however he is a lot more 'tamer' than his other films and is really in between the lines of family man and armed cop in this film. I would say this was one of his better performances and he was very good and humourous at times, as he played the facts he was quadtruple the size these small kids were. The gun scenes are intense with some great stunts and moves. The film is very convincing and considering how old it is, is very good quality. I enjoyed the somewhat odd storyline which I have never seen in a film. It is innocent enough and even if they hadn't had the action scenes in it still would have been a very successful film. The film itself is overall very funny, romantic, sweet and action packed. This film isn't that widely known and really should be watched. The Down's I only have one reserve about the film and that is that it is just a bit to predictable. You knew from the bad cop persona at the start of the film, that he was going to become a teacher somehow and find out his other, softer side. There were no real surprises with the film, even though it tried with little twists and turns. This was not very effective which was a bit of a disappointment. The DVD itself only has 2 extra feature but with many films set in this time, released on DVD, it has rubbish features. I didn't bother me that much, but they really were actually crappy. The film itself however is very good. 5 Quick Facts 1. Certificate 15 film even though it is all about a nursery! 2. The 5/6 year old kids in this film are now actors themselves. Odette Yustman who played one of the little girls was in Cloverfield and Transformers. See if you can recognise anyone else. 3. It won 4 awards including the BMI Film Music Award. 4. Was made in 1990, more than 19 years ago. 5. Can be bought from eBay for as little as 99p I really enjoyed this film. I thought Arnie was funny, quite hot and we got to see another side of his acting skills in this film. The film works well with the children and creates funny, lighter moments which it would have lacked had they not been there. The cast was very good and even though they were not that well known, it did not bring the film down. The film is widely avaliable and can be bought very cheaply. Even though it is an older film, it is still a very good watch so if you are thinking of buying this then do so. It is worth every penny and is an enjoyable film. Will Not Appeal To Everyone But Fans Will Adore It

Do you know how long Harry Potter fans have been waiting for this film? You wouldn't believe me if I told you? 2 WHOLE YEARS! This is one of the most anticipated films of 2009 which means it has to be good. According to the new it grossed $104 million on the day of its release. The cinema we were going to see it was fully booked on the Wednesday, so we had to go on the Thursday instead. And here is a harcore Harry Potter fans verdict on one of the most popular films to come out in 2009. Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince is the 6th film of the series of films. It follows Harry in this first senior year at the school and follows on from the death of his Godfather Sirius Black. For any of you who do not know, Harry Potter is a wizard. He attends Hogwarts school of Witchcraft and Wizardry with his best friends Ron Weasley and Hermione Weasley. They have been best friends for 6 years and practically know everything about each other. However as they get older, they suffer the usual teenage angst and hormones. The evil Lord Voldemort, who killed Harry's parents, wants to kill Harry and rule the wizarding world. His personal army called Death Eaters, will murder and torture to get what they want. The book is about the fight between good and evil which is very clear throughout the movie. Daniel Radcliffe is back as the handsome Harry Potter and I feel I have actually grown up with him. I remember being 12 and fancying him madly in the Chamber of Secrets film. This is the fantastic thing about Harry Potter, you really feel you have grown up not only with the characters, but also the cast. Like the other films it has cast some of Britain's finest actors. Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, Micheal Gambon, Bonnie Wright, Helena Bonham-Carter and many other actors and actresses are just some of the house hold names that are back for this installment. Of course there are some newbies to the cast including Jim Broadbent who you will know from so many films, I just can't list them! The Death Eater werewolf is played by Dave Legeno who is in real life a street fighter. Very fitting to the character. The film has a cast from all backgrounds, who are brought toghether so brilliantly in the film. What I loved was the mix of teenagers and adults, you hardly ever get that in a film that is not the sterotype. For example all films I see with teenagers and adults, the teens are portrayed as grumpy and outcasted from adults. Although this is partially true in real life it is great to see some unity and the development of relationships in the movie. The film begins were the last film left off, Harry's beloved godfather Sirius Black has been killed by Death Eater Bellatrix Lestrange. The pain from this is so powerful but also the public are not aware that Black was his godfather as they think he is a murderer! If you haven't seen the last film, you may struggle a little to understand the first scenes. You can already tell however that the film will be a lot less dark than the last film. Of course there has to be some flirting so you see Harry in a cafe chatting up a muggle. Dumbledore finds him and Harry is forced to stand up the waitress (stood up by Harry Potter, if only she knew!) and they go on a little adventure. Dumbledore needs to get Harry to delicately persuade an old friend of his to become a teacher again at Hogwarts. This is Professor Slughorn, however we do not know at the time of course that this will lead to huge things, like unlocking the weakness to Lord Voldemort. Harry is going back to Hogwarts however, as Hermione points out when they meet up at the Weasleys house, it is more dangerous than ever. Many students may not even go back in raw fear of the death eaters. Muggles are being attacked and in an incredible scene, one of the most famous bridges in London is completely destroyed by Death Eaters. Not only is the wizarding world suffering but the muggles are to. The film is making sure throughout there is a clarity to which characters are good and which are 'evil'. Going to Hogwarts is finally able to give Harry something different to think about rather than the darkness out there. Harry in an amusing scene in potions class, finds an old book entitled "The Property of the Half Blood Prince." In the book it has extra notes on how to make the best potions, which causes Harry to become the best in the class. He starts to become obsessed with the book as it is so full with extra knowledge, including a spell that should be used on enemies. Draco Malfoy, Harry's long term enemy, becomes a big part of this film. Not only does Harry end up attacking him but we also learn a terrible dark secret about the young wizard. Dumbledore becomes frailer and frailer as the movie progresses and they go on journeys to try and understand Voldemort's mind. This includes a very important memory of when Voldemort was just a child (played by Ralph Fiennes nephew) in which you see how troubled and dark he was even then. We find out the reason Professor Slughorn is back to teach is that Harry needs to extract a memory from him. But will he be able to do it? I don't want to mention to much about the plot as you would really have to see the film as it is a little complex. This is a downside of the film sadly, if you went to watch this film you may struggle to follow this if you haven't seen or read any of the previous films/books. The soundtrack is very good but it has a major flaw. It recycles material from all the previous movies which for fans is a bit of a let down. But despite this, the soundtrack is outstanding. The special effects are amazing. There are spectactular spells, dramatic quiddich and destruction scenes which are breathtaking. It is a dark yet lightly humourous film which shows Harry growing up. How can one teenage boy fight evil, get his girl and complete his potions essay all at the same time? Well Harry Potter can! THE BEST HARRY POTTER FILM EVER! Sorry the review is so long, Robin Hood is just so brilliant!

Robin Hood is my new addiction. Can I just say sorry for the length of the review but it is so good and there is so much to mention, I thought I didn't want to leave anything out! Series 1 of Robin Hood is what hooked me into series 2 and more recently series 3. So of course I HAD to buy the DVD set when it came out. I actually bought this in three volumes however they decided to now combine them (which is a much better idea) so you can have them all on three DVD's. Not only does this work out more economical but easier to navigate through the episodes. So here is my review, enjoy! ===What Is It?=== The BBC decided to re-make a high budget of the famous Sherwood outlaw, Robin Hood. This was first shown on the BBC, and later released as DVD's, however they can now be bought as a full box set, and no longer per every 5 episodes. This DVD boxset is made up of all the episodes of the series, so after this you will left on a cliff hanger and then made to buy the next series! The BBC takes a completely different take on the outlaw from tradition, and is seen to give him a new light and make him much more exciting and thrilling. This is PG rated and is suitable for children. The only warning there is really against the sword scenes which are not that violent however can be a bit scary for younger children. This DVD is maybe one to watch out for as it does have death scenes in it (not at all graphic, just upsetting) which may not be suitable for younger children. Since 2006, a new series of Robin Hood was shown on the BBC and most recently series 3 was on our screens. The BBC confirmed that it would be the last series they made however it did finish on a thrilling finale. I watched the first episode of series one and since then have been COMPLETELY addicted to the series. So it was fantastic to see that the BBC has released the series in DVD form in 2007. I knew I had to be the first to get them and eventually ended up buying all of Series one on DVD. However I can guarentee you when you buy them you will want to move on straight to the second series as it becomes very addictive viewing. ===The Famous Story Of Robin Hood=== A lot of people think of the generalisation of the story, men in tights robbing hte rich and giving to the poor. And the hero gets the girl. However as the series on the BBC shows there is a lot more to this. Robin of Locksley (Robin Hood) arrives home from the Crusades in the Holy Land to find his people starving, cruelly treated and heavily taxed under the oppressive rule of the new Sheriff of Nottingham. Robin finds out that the only way to reason with the sheriff. However this means him being forced to give up his lands and title, which he proudly does for his people. Robin and his servant and best friend Much, gather up a faithful gang of outlaws to beat the sheriff. They get Little John, Will Scarlett and Allan Dale to defeat the sheriff and regain peace to the land. But even with Robins cunning and talent with a bow and arrow, can he really defeat the Sheriff and his Black Knight Sir Guy of Gisborne. While of course juggling falling in love with Maid Marion, to whom she is the daughter of the previous Sheriff of Nottingham, who is now gravely ill and being held as a prisoner. The story has a lot of twists and turns as you can tell the writers have been having good fun in playing with the characters. Especially in the last 4 episodes on this you can really see the story develop. ===Stars=== Jonas Armstrong - Who stunningly plays the witty Robin Hood in the series. The fairly unknown actor who has been in such TV programmes as 'Teachers' and 'Ghost Sqaud'. However don't let that put you off, this really is his big break and expect you will see the young actor very soon in other projects, after Robin Hood. He is an excellent actor, playing Hood passionately yet cheekily at times. I really enjoyed watching him portray Hood, as he was able to show another side that I had not yet seen yet. Can't wait to see him in the next series playing Robin Hood, he is actually now one of my favourite actors. Lucy Griffiths - Plays the fantastic, fiesty and simply beautiful Maid Marion. She really shines in Robin Hood, playing the very intelligent yet exceptionally fiesty Marion. However she gives a twist on the traditional character as she makes her really cunning and sexy. Griffiths like Armstrong is a fairly unknown actress however has been in TV before, 'Sugar Rush' and 'Sea of Souls'. I think like Armstrong, this will be one of her breakthrough roles and I'm sure we will be seeing her in a lot more in the future. Keith Allen - I love Keith Allen, who plays the ruthless Sheriff of Nottingham brilliantly. One of my favourite characters in the series as Allan plays him so cruelly yet really shows off a sly side. Allen is probibly best known for his acting credits and music and of course being the dad of Lily Allen. One of the finest actors in the series and definately stands out as a horrible yet dark humoured man. Richard Armitage - I can't think of anyone who hasn't heard of Richard Armitage! He plays the Black Knight Sir Guy Gibson, the Sheriff of Nottinghams faithful sidekick. I first saw him on the Vicar of Dibley as he was the one who ended up marrying our favourite vicar! He is best known for his Shakespearian acting, and in many of popular TV shows such as 'Miss Marple' 'Spooks' and 'Ultimate Force'. Sam Troughton - Plays the loveable and loyal Much. He is originally Robin Hood's man servant when he lived on the estate however has become his best friend and was freed. He is a very popular character and is seen as the babbling more cowardly man, compared to Robin. However he is actually exceptionally caring and loyal to Robin and the outlaws. I really enjoy Troughton playing him, you may recognise him from 'Vera Drake' and 'Alien Vs Predator'. His dad actually starred in the first ever BBC make of Robin Hood in the 1950's so you could say it was the circle of television making! ===Episode List=== Will You Tolerate This? The first ever episode of Robin Hood, it takes you into a dramtic situation straight away. Alan (one of the Merry men) is caught poaching and is captured by guards, however claims he has a family to feed. In response to this he about to get his hand cut off but who should come along to save the day? Robin Hood! However after some skillful arrow tricks he frees Allan but then gets chased, of course they get away but only just. Robin goes back to his manor in Locksley and is horrified to see his people starving and scared. The new ruthless sheriff is to blame for high taxes and cruelty. This is were you start to see the formation of the Merry Men and the drama of Robin Hood starting to rebel against the Sheriff. Robin starts to change his character, still however keeping the cockiness and charm! I have to admit not the strongest of starts compared to the next couple of episodes however the drama really had me hooked! Sheriff Got Your Tongue? One of my favourite episodes in the DVD. This is because this is when you see the introduction of many key characters (more merry men and MARION!) This is the one where Robin starts to really get on the nerves of the Sheriff of Nottingham, condeming him as an outlaw. The village of Locksley is taken hostage and the villagers are forced to tell the Sheriff where Robin is. However none of them do know, meaning that many get punished (tongues cut out etc... Not very nice!) Robin however has been captured by thieves (you will recognise Little John as one of them) who have stolen the belongings and horses. However after escaping they end up capturing the thieves! So a bit of teaching them their own lesson. However typically the theives have back up, and end up capturing Robin again... The thieves find out who Robin is and decide to give him to the sheriff, in return for a £20 reward (remember that is a long time ago and was a LOT of money!) However once Robin heroically saves villagers from a horrible fate, and with Marions help, he ends up able to give the villagers secret food parcels. He is officially hunted and is an outlaw now. Who Shot The Sheriff? A taxman (who still to this day has never been very popular..!) has been killed, and the Sheriff is busy using propaganda methods to make sure everyone thinks it was the outlaw Robin Hood. The sheriff is desperate for him to give up his fight for Locksley, and will do anything to bring him down. The assasign is now aiming for the Sheriff, making him even more paranoid and lying. Many more people are being mysteriously killed all by arrow. On the run from the sheriff, he eventually finds them and is chased by lots of hunting dogs. As Robin runs, he makes a deal with the sheriff, that he will find the assagain for him. The Sheriff actually knows it can't possibly be Robin. The Nightwatchmen, a mysterious figure who has been fighting against the sheriff for a long time, is now blamed. After a trap, Robin captures him, only to find out it is MARION! However it isn't her either. They find out it is a man called Joe, who is suffering from terrible grief and pain. He is murdered by Guy of Gisbourne. Robin is trusted by the villagers now as the killings have stopped however the Sheriff is now still on the hunt for him and his ever growing group of outlaws. Not my favourite episode, however really enjoyed it. Parent Hood Now this is one of my favourite episodes in this DVD. Robin and the outlaws find a baby in the forest, while trying to ambush Guy of Gisbourne. While fighting, one of the men gets captured and taken to the castle. Roy finds out the baby found in the forest is actually Gisbourne's child, he got a kitchen girl pregnant and she had the baby and left it in the forest. He is faced with the horrible desicion, kill Robin Hood or his mother will get hanged. Obviously he chooses A. They set up a distraction where Roy is 'released' and tells Robin the mother lives in Knighton (a nearby village) which is a lie, to get Robin away from his men. On their journey there, they meet Marion trying to get food to the village of Locksley, which is currently surrounded because of disease. She cannot get through however with a bit of help from Robin the villagers get food. In a lighter scene you see Robin putting the food on the spear of the arrow and launching it into houses (being careful not to hit anyone!) However turns as he is hit by one of the Sheriffs men's arrows. They escape, but only just, and hide in a villagers house. In one of 'hint scenes' where we see Marion treating Robins wound, while getting a bit 'close'. Roy's ambush works and tries to kill Robin, but Much finally gets his heroic moment. ROy is forced to admit his mother will be killed if he does not do it. The next day they go to save his mother, while Alan (one of the outlaws) finds out and tells Robin about the babies real mother. They break into the castle and save his mum. Annie starts shouting at Gisbourne about the child and Roy is killed. A fantastic episode, one of my FAVOURITES! Turk 'Flu (And no nothing to do with SWINE FLU...) Ok sorry about the current affairs pun. Anyway this is an episode that proves the series is just getting stronger and stronger. The ever cunning Sheriff tries to entice Hood and capture him by holding a big archery competition. Now you really get a sense of the times, they find a man trying to sell Saracen slaves to the Sheriffs various mines. However he is really a bad guy and he smuggles Allan A Dale out into the mines, so Robin and his gang are left with yet another task, rescue him. While all this is happening the archery competition is being organised, and made sure Hood is there. You start to see Marian go over to his side more in this, as she begins to start to protect him. Back to the mine, to scare the Mine owners, Allan says he has a terrible disease which gets them all panicked. Robin and the gang rescue all the slaves (kind of by accident) and set fire to the mine to annoy the sheriff. The slave owners very quickly go to tell the sheriff what has happened but think they have one of the outlaws trapped, as Little John fell into the mine. It is now a test of life and death, will Little John be saved? This is also the introduction of the character Djaq who is one of the slaves. Meanwhile, Marian has her life threatened by someone whos father had been killed by Guy of Gisbourne. He thinks she is his wife, and is going to kill her. However Marian being her, was able to quietly and sensibly lead him off, and tell him to enter the competion and win money to look after his family. Finishing off the archery competion, Robin is still able to find the time to wind up the sheriff by giving it a go, in disguise. Of course he gets the best score! A good episode which introduces most of the main characters for the rest of the series. The Tax Man Cometh This is one of more exciting and adreniline filled episodes of the entire series. When Robin and his gang find a man who claims to be the tax collector, they break into Nottingham Castle to steal the tax back. Being Robin Hood, it is not for himself but to give it to the poor to feed themselves. But they were tricked and end up locked in a room with no money in it, so not only nothing to steal but left feeling stupid. Robin takes it the hardest, saying he should never had led his men to do this. Meanwhile, the sheriff rewards the tax man for helping in the capture of the gang. We see Marian arguing with her father whom is very reluctant to marry Sir Guy of Gisbourne. She ends up going to the castle to meet a mother superior, the highly respected Abbess of Rufford. Why you may ask? To become a nun... Very unlike Marions character who is a free spirit and a huge rebel. Viewers find out however that the mother superior is being held in the castle's chapel by the Sheriff. This is also where the Sheriff is keeping the silver (tax). Robin and his gang cunningly manage to escape, whilst the tax man and Mother Superior steal the silver from the chapel. Wait a minute, yes a character twist? But who are they people and why are they doing it? They are both helped by Marion to escape but there is something wrong, you will have to watch to find out! I really enjoyed this episode, it was cunning and quick witted. You did get to see a more 'human' side to Robin in this as well, as he gets trapped with his men. A really good twist and some fantastic acting, especially by Marion. Brothers In Arms This is the one that started to pull that heartstrings. So far, Marion is desperately trying to keep in Guy of Gisbournes good books, but is in love with Robin. In this episode you see the tenseness of the situation growing as Marion is caught out. In this episode you start out by watching a rather crooked family reunion between Allan and his brother Tom. But it ends up a mess as Tom has brought along some rather unpleasent pals with him to cause trouble. Will this be the start of a very unhappy relationship between the two? Meanwhile, in Nottingham a young poor couple turn up asking Guy of Gisbourne to marry them. Of course he agrees but want's something of value, so gets the poor girls necklace. He performs the ceremony and holds the necklace, bing! An idea. He gives it as a gift to Marion for her affection. She knows where it comes from and gets Robin to return to the girl who is so grateful. But Marion has been caught out. Gisbourne, while out on patrol, sees it around the girl's neck. Alarm bells start ringing as he seems to wonder how she was able to get it back. He suspects that Marion is allies with Robin. Oh dear... In the castle, the Sheriff suspects a spy who is betraying his plans to Robin Hood and his gang. He immediately orders Gisbourne to set a trap to catch this spy. Gisbourne however ends up catching the wrong person who is his own soldier. He ends up dying under terrible torture, even though the viewers know that it is in fact Marion. But I reckon he does actually know that. In quite a cruel twist in the series, Allans brother Tom and his gang are taken by the Sheriff's men and hanged. The Sheriff actually advances the hanging by an hour, so that by the time Robin and the gang arrive to rescue them, they are already too late. Robin finds out that Gisborne knows Marion gave the necklace back. This is worrying as not only for Marions sake but also for the people of Nottingham. Robin is on a new mission, to get the necklace back, and does so just in time so Marion can prove her innocence. This is relieving for the viewer, she has not been caught, but it was bloody close. She is however forced to promise Guy that in order to protect herself and her father from any harm from the Sheriff, that she will marry him the day King Richard returns from his mission in the Holy Land. She agrees. This is a very twisty and darker episode compared to previous ones. For the first time you see suspion in Gisbourne and a very public cruel side of the Sheriff. You also get to see a much realer side of Robin again like the last episode. A tense and thrilling episode! Tattoo? What Tattoo? A start a little different to many episodes in which Robin has a nightmare about his time in the Holy Land. It is about a group of Saracens who attempted to kill the king. Just as he slashes the attempted assassin's arm and sees his tattoo in which Robin hastily wakes. The outlaws are busily humiliating Gisborne at a feast to celebrate King Richard's birthday by stealing their stuff. This ironically includes an engagement ring he was going to give to Marion. Gisborne tries to attack but Robin pins him to a wall with a dagger, ripping open his sleeve and revealing a tattoo identical to the assassin's, complete with scar. WHAT??? The outlaws quickly escape, but leave Djaq behind who is captured by the Sheriff. Meanwhile, Gisborne goes in pursuit of Robin and the stolen engagement ring. Some very quick scenes follow and Robin confronts Gisborne. After a spat, Robin knocks Gisborne down and prepares to slash his throat. However the rest of the outlaws arrive and stop him. In the castle, Djaq manages to escape her cell by using acid to weaken the bars. Annoyingly she is recaptured hastily. The Sheriff however is fasinated by the acid and enlists her as his new alchemist. Meanwhile Robin begins beating up a tied up Gisborne, but is pulled off and knocked unconscious by Little John. However it was done in a caring manor. Much is left to guard a tied up Robin and Gisbourne whilst the others try to rescue Djaq. Robin tries to convince Much to release him. It fails dismally as he ends up insulting him. Robin begins threatening Gisborne which ends up into another heated arguement which turns to the subject of Marion. Robin knocks Gisbourne unconscious but then ends up falling out of exhaustion. Much returns with Marion and the rest of the outlaws. They have a plan to swap Gisbourne for Djaq, which could work. Again they leave Robin tied up and guarded by Much whilst the outlaws take Gisborne. Robin begins trying to get Much to untie him, again this fails. In an odd twist, the Sheriff discovers Djaq is a girl and makes jibe at how popular she must be at night. Maybe not suitable for kids! Robin escapes and as the prisoners are exchanged, Robin declares his disagreement. Robin shouts that as soon as Prince Richard returns, he will see that tattoo and get his compupence. "Tattoo? What Tattoo?" shouts the Sheriff and burns it off with the Djaq's acid. After a lot of passionate shouting, will the outlaws finally be able to escape? Remember all the sheriffs men are there. I wrote a lot about this episode as I loved it so much! A Thing Or Two About Loyalty A very weapon based episode. A scientist has invented a highly explosive black powder known as 'Greek fire' which the Sheriff wants to use. But he does not trust the Sheriff and refuses to hand over the recipe. The instructions for making "Greek fire" are written in a ledger (diary) so the Sheriff orders him to the dungeons until he tells. He already has however a few barrells already. Robin finds out about the ledger, so decides Much must stand in the marketplace and insult the Sheriff to get arrested. The plan does fail but he does get arrested after punching a guard. Much is recognised as being Robin's right hand man and decides to keep an eye on him. He surprisingly appoints him as an Earl and he gets a servant girl called Eve who is actually a spy. Robin breaks into the dungeons and asks the scientist to reveal where the ledger is. He refuses at first but then gives up and says the ledger is hidden in a water barrel outside the castle. Djaq however is desperate to find out how the Greek Fire is made, as the Saracens have been experimenting for years and never managed to produce any. She wants to keep the book and copy it. However they want the WIll wants the book destroyed. Robin refuses to destroy it, as he promised the Scientist that he would keep it secure. However the Scientist is tortured to death after Gisbourne gets a row from the sheriff after it is found out Robin knows where the ledge is. Robin visits Much at his new large home and asks him to find out where the Sheriff's three barrels of Greek Fire are stored. Much goes to the Council of Nobles. The Sheriff mocks him in front of the other nobles however is still able to attend the feast. There Much gets to know his servant girl very well and Marion, who suspects Eve is a spy, takes Much aside and tells him where the ledger is. Of course she knows Eve is listening. After a very sweet conversation between Much and Eve, she eventually tells him that she is a spy. She promises to lie to the Sheriff about the where the ledger is hidden. She then helps Much to escape back to the forest. Much, who never gets the romantic light, swears to her that he will come back and find her once Prince Richard returns. Marion is exceptionally angry that the scientist was killed and tells Gisbourne she will only wear it if he never upsets her like that again. Meanwhile, Eve tells the Sheriff that the ledger is hidden and the soldiers go and try and look for it. When Gisbourne returns with nothing, the Sheriff realises that Eve has mislead them. But for the poor Sheriff and Gisbourne, Robin is already there to ambush. Will it work however? Another exceptionally exciting episode which is so thrilling and fantastic. Peace? Off! This episode brings more religion into the Robin Hood story. A crazy man is very busy burning down churches and houses and intoxifying water supplies. Robin and his men however unexpectantly rescue him, and identify him as one of King Richards old soldiers. He is suffering from 'Crusaider Sickness' which is a mental disorder which causes him to go crazy. Now the audience really understands why Robin was being nice to him. While all this is happening, the sheriff is hosting a Middle Eastern Prince called Malic (You may recognise who plays him from Eastenders). He is impatientiently waiting for Prince John (Robins enemy) to arrive to Nottingham, much to the huge delight of the Sheriff who is enjoying having all these celebrities about. In the forest meanwhile Will finds a overturned, very muddy old cart in which the gang find a very odd looking mask. The superstitious bunch think it has black magic in it, however Robin thinks not. Believing that magic doesn't exsist. So they take it back to the camp and don't think that much more about it. However with a bit of a twist to add to their superstition, as they are busy looking after s mad man in the camp. He seems very polite and helpful as they are cooking away however as soon as he see's the mask, he attacks Djaq with a knife! Was it the mask that posessed him to do that? Much helps and stops him from hurting her. Marion tells Robin (In a very cute scene) that it is a Prince from the East who is staying at the castle. So Robin decides by himself to ambush Prince Salic and his men. They end up coming back to claim the cart however Robin is a step a head and waiting patiently for them. He kidnaps him and interogates about why he is in England and about the mask. It turns out that Djaq knows who he is and demands he is not harmed. Prince Malic explains that about the mask, it is bascially to do with acupunture and that he is healing a mind. It did explain anyway how the mask looked. Meanwhile Marion overhears Gisbourne and sheriff discussing how the have Prince Malic hostage. They want a ransom, and a hefty one at that. Marion tells Robin this straight away and they get to work. While this is happening 4 very beautiful armed women enter the forest. They are highly decorated in blue silks and gold. WIth a man guard watching over them. The outlaws desperately want to steal the ransom money they have but these women are highly skilled warriors and there is pretty much no chance they could get it alone. So the plan goes ahead and we find out that they are going to give the money to the sheriff to get the Prince back. However as usual the sheriff is ambushed, but in a bizarre twist Robin ends up saving the Sheriff from them! But will they be able to escape these incredible women warriors? A really good episode which really does show off the power of women. They were vexing and beautiful and Marion added the edge by showing off Robins only weakness, love. Dead Man Walking Guy of Gisbourne is on patrol and collecting taxes for the king. However this is more brutal than ever as many of the villagers are simply unable to pay it, due to already being so heavily taxed. Little John and Robin are watching on, unable to do anything after being heavily outnumbered. However Little John sees his wife and child being attacked by the guards. This is too much for Little John and he goes and tries to help as Robin tries desperately to hold him back. He ends up knocking out Robin and fighting against the guards. However he is caught after a furious fight. However by possible luck he ends up loosing his two identity tags which show he is an outlaw. Meanwhile at the castle, Marion is back from a ride and discovers Little John at the castle. Much causes a distraction with the guards allowing Robin and Allan to dress up like guards and take Will as a 'prisoner' to get into the castle and rescue Little John (and his son) from the castle, and from almost certain torture. In a sad scene we see Little John trying to talk to his son who has forgotten him. But they begin to start to form a relationship which turns really sweet. In a little romantic twist we see Robin distracted by Marion as Gisbourne tries to seduce her, while Robin is disguised as a guard, watching on. She reveals the taxes are actually for London and that the Sheriff has set up a trap to catch him. What will Robin do? I means it's Robin Hood he has a plan. But will it work? Still dressed up as guards and undetected, they leave it until night to try and rescue Little John. In the dungeons meanwhile Alice (Little John's wife) is thrown in jail and he is recognised. She thought he was dead and causes her terrible pain. Robin and Allan however cunningly swap money bags for grain bags and get away with it. Now they have the next task of saving the prisoners. The sheriff is beginning his 'Festival of Pain' which is the use of devices of torture. They are about to burn Little John's son and wife and the bowsmith. Will they get away in time? Or be saved? A more emotional episode then we are used to but still action packed and good fun. Shows another side of the usually brutish Little John. The only flaw in this episode was it was just a little to quick paced compared to other episodes, it was going just to fast. But I still really enjoyed it and would give it Return of the King Oooo I have to start by saying this is pretty much my favourite episode in the whole series! The Sheriff and Gisbourne are busy discussing and it revealed the King is returning from the Holy Land. Gisbourne also is going to ask for Marion's hand in marriage. But will he do it? Meanwhile in forrest, Will tells them that the King is returning. Now remember Robin Hood is fighting for the King and in theory, once he see's the persucution of the people of Nottingham, he will be arrested. Also it is revealed the Marion may be getting married, but as Robin loves her, he will try and save her. Gisbourne finds Marion to ask her (and in a light-hearted, quickly turning tense scene almost knocks out Gisbourne!) to marry him!!! She quickly figures out the king is returning but the viewer doesn't yet know if it is a yes or a no. (What do you think?) Robin is going to try and stop the wedding and visits Marion. She shows she was forced to do it but they end up arguing over the marriage. It ends with Robin being forced to leave and emotionally you see Marion choosing between her duty to her country and her true love. However she wants one last go at being the Night Watchmen before she is forced to become a wife to Gisbourne. So she get gets ready. Robin is going to force information from Gisbournes physician to get information about what Guy has been up to. Of course he is at first reluctant however with some gentle (violent) persuasion he begins to talk. He tells them that Gisbourne had not been ill but infact had gone to the Holy Land to fight. They just made it look like he was ill. Back at the palace, the Nightwatchmen is at work and Robin finds Marion has gone missing. He is forced to assume that she has broken his wishes and returned as the night watchmen. She is trapped in a room but thankfully Robin comes to her rescue. Gisbourne does not know that the nightwatchmen is Marion and mocks Hood about her. Of course she kicks him in, causing great pain. But she uses her hair dagger and Gisbourne knows EXACTLY who it is. She escapes with Robin but ends up falling to the ground in pain. He runs with her in his arms and takes her to the camp. She had been stabbed by Gisbourne and Djaq starts to treat her. After a lot of pain Marion is patched up. It was close though, too close. As the night goes on Marion won't wake up easily and Djaq starts to work away but says her chances of survival are slim. I don't want to say anymore but it is so highly emotional it is brilliant. This is truly one my favourite episodes and I love the high intensity and drama. But will Marion survive? Will Robin Show his true feelings? Will he say 'I Love You?' You will just have to watch to find out.. You will kind of guess the ending if you read the next part of the review. A Clue. No The last episode of Series one and I had high hopes. After a brilliant previous episode, this leads almost straight on from the last episode and is actually part of a 2 Parter. It starts off with a recap from the previous episode to give you a quick reminder. It then starts you off straight away from where it left off. The sheriffs army is advancing on the cave where Marion and the outlaws are. Much and Little John are attempting to single handedly go against an entire fleet of archers and horsemen. Robin starts the battle with a fatal arrow to the sheriffs closest guard. A battle ensues and they run into the battle. With their highly skilled swordsmen ship, they quickly start to defeat the sheriffs men. After a retreat from the sheriff's men they go back into the cave and mourn the death of Lady Marion. But Allan comes out with "I'm not being funny but she is breathing?" So they all rush to check. And yes she lives! She had been poisoned with a draft that kills her and then brings her back to life from the physician. So as a viewer you really are thrilled. They rush Marion back to her home before anyone really notices she's gone. Robin is told Marion is to be married on Saturday but as soon as he hears of this, Gisbourne arrives wishing to meet Marion. He doesn't believe she is there after being shunned away by Marion's father. He sees her and believes him and leaves. Robin is now being quite mean to everyone, in response to his anger at Marion getting Marion. In particular he says some really horrible stuff to Much. The rest of the outlaws meanwhile go to a secret meeting to protect the king from assasignation from the Sheriff. The wedding day arrives and Marion has told Robin to grow up and leave her to her duty. Gisbourne is shown asking about the wife of someone helping at his wedding, about understanding and trust. Marion arrives at the church looking beautiful but obviously sad. You can see something is going to happen... Meanwhile at the castle the King has arrived and the loyalist have gathered. However the Sheriffs plan is working and he begins killing the loyalists by tricking them into thinking they are actually giving evidence against him for treason. So can Robin save the girl? Stop being grumpy? Save the King loyalists from death AND escape with out a scratch? You will just have to wait and see! A fantastic finale which was really interesting and slightly funny. Romance and fighting are the two main themes and as you see Marion has survived dying and now getting married which are all in the space of two days! It was a fantastic series finale and loved the very last scene. Loved it and it was well thought out and put toghether. ===The Soundtrack=== You know what really annoys me when reading reviews? When the soundtrack is never mentioned in a review about a TV series! This is such a vital factor that matters so much, especially in Robin Hood. I actually loved the soundtrack so much, I downloaded it on iTunes for a very reasonable £7.99. The whole soundtrack features beautiful English folk and traditional music, mainly to set the era correctly. What I loved was how the music brilliantly added to the scene. For example when we first see Robin and Marion alone toghether they use slightly cheeky but delicate music. However it is when the scenes get dramatic where the music is at its true best. The fights scenes have very powerful, strong music which I love. It really makes you enjoy the series even more. It is all composed by Andy Price, who won a BAFTA for his work in composing music for TV. You can tell he is good, no brilliant. I really enjoyed the soundtrack and would give that alone 5 stars, and would recommend checking it out on iTunes or in any music shops. You will enjoy it and it really is very very good. ==Special Features== Unlike the volumes in which only one DVD has special features, the whole series has many features. My favourite absolutely was Hood Academy. This shows you interviews from the cast and crew and how they filmed scenes. I thought this was so interesting and actually quite funny! It reveals such facts like the tattoo that Gisbourne has was originally red (it is now black) and that the actors got hurt in filming some of the scenes. It is really interesting to see how the built the sets and make up. If your a Robin Hood fan or even just interested in how the create the scenes, then you will find this very interesting. There is also character profiles of the main characters which again are interesting. They may not be as good Hood Academy but it is a worthwhile feature to put on. All toghether the features are really good, on the volumes they are split up making it look like the DVD's have poor features. Because they are condensed onto one DVD it makes it much more interesting and really enjoyed watching and reading these extra features. ===Price And Where To Get It=== As usual, I bought mine online using Amazon.co.uk. I bought mine in three volumes but now you can buy the full box set which I would fully recommend you do. The volumes and the boxset contains the EXACT same features and episodes but will work out better price wise. It will set you back about £18 to buy the full boxset from HMV, Play.com and BBC Online is just some of the many places you can buy this. It is widely avaliable like many BBC DVD's are. As long as you don't pay more than £25 for it, you will be getting a good bargain. It is a very good investment to buy and would recommend buying this, also do some price comparison for the best deal. Ebay has some very good deals on but watch out that you get it for European DVD players. ==Overall== You may have guessed but I love ROBIN HOOD! I wasn't sure what to expect when I first watching this on BBC1 more than 3 years ago. However I have become a complete addict and really enjoyed buying and watching this Series. I loved every moment and it has become my new addiction in watching these episodes again. I watched them all on TV back in 2006 and knew I had to buy them on DVD. If you are a fan or have never seen this before I would completely recommend you buy this. It is witty, dramatic and is a fantastic story. The fight scenes are brilliant, the characters are all individual and you see the characterisation throughout the series. And of course it has revitalised the legend of Robin Hood. COMPLETELY RECOMMEND COMPLETE SERIES 1 OF ROBIN HOOD!!! Copyright of Scotlandizdabest - Ciao.co.uk

            Advantages

            Disadvantages

Had this for more than a year and it has been a great investment!

When I'm not sitting on the computer being very busy of course, another thing I enjoy doing is making things. My mum really got me into sewing and making clothes when I was little. She was taught by her mum, so wanted it to be the same with me. We have always had a sewing machine in our house and after our last Brother gave up the go (It has lasted more than 8 years of hard labour!) so it was time to get a new one. Of course I resorted to the internet which most of us do now a days. We decided to stay with Brother as we knew the brand well and was very happy with our last eowing machine. However times had really changed since we bought out last machine. After doing a lot of comparison on the Brother website What Is It The Brother BC2100 is one of the most popular domestic use sewing machines. It is designed for beginners who are just starting out and those who have done this for a long time. Because of this, you can get going straight away or at least learn how to get started. Because this is a much newer model, it has many 'fancy' features which I will discuss, compared to plain sowing machines. Basically this is a COMPUTERISED machine which means less work for you, and able to do much more that you can usually do with a sewing machine. This can also be used for making items such as clothes or furnishings, to repair jobs, or even just adding that extra touch! Prices/Where To Get It After deciding this was the model to buy for us, we did some price hunting. This was what I found quite difficult, so hopefully by reading this review it will save you some time. Prices ranged from a good £189 to an incredible £308. However what I noticed was that the average price seemed to be the £199 mark but you usually would get some very good freebies. Brother Direct - I felt it was a complete rip off at an incredible £308 which we felt was not a good price at all. You would expect it from the manufactorer to be cheaper than anywhere else but I was highly wrong. I would avoid as you just get the machine and have to pay extra for the accessory kits. Argos - I didn't realise until after some research that Argos sell this product. This was highly convient for us as the nearest Argos is only 6 miles away. There price was a reasonable £196 with a FREE wide table to go with it. This is basically an add on to the machine and comes in very handy. But we bought ours from: http://www.sewingmachines.co.uk/brotherbc2100_info.htm Now their price is £199 however it was the stuff you got with it which interested us. It came with a 'free' thread pack (which is lots of different colors of threads), 5 pairs of scissors, a sewing kits, a carry case (which I have never used) and an wide table. Argos offered the wide table but didn't offer us the rest. Because of the extras, this seemed the most appealing so ended up buying from there. Also the price included postage and packaging so that was a little added bonus. I would recommend new comers to buy from that site or if you already have lots of sowing equipment then Argos is your best option. Getting Started (Learning How To Use Machine) It arrived 5 days after ordering which was fine. It came with a small letter of proof of buying and also a 5 YEAR guarentee covered by the website itself. So I think I can safely say that sewingmachines.co.uk is very generous compared to Brother which only offers 2 years cover. Now getting started was pretty easy, after figuring out what everything was I unpacked it all. Now it came with the instruction manual PLUS a DVD which I was a little shocked to find. I did think, maybe it might be quite difficult to use, if you need a DVD with it. I actually haven't watched it yet and don't really plan to in the future. However it would be good for newbies who have started out. Now all you have to do to start it up is to position the sewing machine where you want (obviously in close proximity to a plug) and power it up. On the side is a wee on and off button which you push and the screen on the front turns bright blue. That is you ready to get started. The start up was so easy, I didn't look at the instruction manual as it is all basic knowledge stuff. However threading it up may be a different story! (See below) Design The machine is a bit different to the one my family had been used to using before. The main difference is the computer used. On the front you have a small LCD screen in which you choose what design you want but also the width and (on certain designs) the length. A light flaw with that is that you have 40 patterns to choose from, and if you want number 20 for example then you have to click the up button 20 times which can be a little annoying. However after a few minutes of getting used to it is a very easy layout. You can tell it is designed to be as easy as possible to use. When threading up it is made 1000 times easier by the use of arrows. It is a little different to traditional machines, but is much easier. You start from the back and all you do is follow the arrows, hooking it into place and looping round corners. When you get to the needle you have a much wider than usual hole. This means less squinting to try and get the thread through the needle! Now that is a huge advantage and a great design input. The bobbin is also a two second job now as you put into place underneath the needle (it has a clear screen so you can always see the bobbin) and pull the thread so it clicks under a hook. And that is it. It is a very simple design and the white makes it very stylish and modern. It is very very good and the wide table attachment means you can work on larger materials with out it going everywhere. Patterns When looking at buying this one of the things that really got to me was the patterns you can use. In total the machine has 40 different patterns ranging from lines to leaves, to zig-zags to ladders. My personal favourite being the swirly pattern. This lets you explore and takes your sowing to new levels. For example I was making a cushion a while back and used the swirly design around the edge is shocking pink thread which made it look AMAZING! I could never have done that as neatly using hand or on a straight sowing machine. When using the patterns for the first time I would recommend trying them out with no thread. How I did this was get some plain paper and just not thread up the machine. Then just start sewing away like normal. I would say to do this at first as it is a little different to traditional straight lines. For example the zig zags take a bit of practise as you have to keep a straight line to as close as you can. Some designs go over to the left more because of the pattern. Before doing the real thing get used to the design as you may have to go at a different speed to normal. Or even draw a line to keep you straight as it is so much easily to wonder off. There are some fantastic designs and you are able to jazz up your work is complete new ways. It is good fun trying out all the different patterns and you soon like me, pick out your favourite. Extra Features Apart from some fantastic patterns the sewing machine also offers lots of extra little lovely's that are designed to make your sewing life as blissful as possible. This is done by adding in features. Button hole maker - Ok it has all happened. The button has come off your favourite jacket. So you can sow it on by hand or you can use this machine. I've used this feature lots as I made a bag covered in pink and white buttons for a friend and this made my life so much easier. How it works is you get your fabric, jacket etc. Then instead of sowing it back on it will create the button hole you want. It comes in 6 different sizes and can be adjusted. This is REALLY handy and stops it becoming wonky when you sow on the buttons. I had never heard of this feature before I read the manual, and trying it out was a bit scary at first. Again practise this before you do this on the real thing. Sleeve Arm - I've never had to use this feature however how it works is you can take part of the sowing table off from the left hand side. You are then left with a wide cyclinder in which you can hook your sleeve on. So again if there is button missing then this is the feature for you. It also gives you a bit of flexability when making other items. A handy feature which I hope I will use. Needle Lamp - Our last sowing machine had a lamp on the side so it is quite nice to have a lamp directly on top of the needle. This means you can see properly what you are doing and I have noticed you don't get shadows which can not only confuse you, but put you off! That is of course from my own experience. It is very bright and handy if you are doing particularly difficult. Using It There are three things that I think are important to mention. The first one is threading up. It has been made as simple as possible and I have to say if you are experienced then it does take a bit of getting used to. However if you forget it only takes a second to find the arrow and your away again. Second the ease of the pedal. To get you going you only need a very gentle push on the pedal and it is very easily controlled. I mention this as the last one I had wasn't very good at stopping however this one is sharp and as long as you remember to keep control, you will get get the exact speed you want. Third is how easy it is. I loved how you could just turn it on, thread it up and get going. This is a big plus for those who want to learn or are just getting into sowing, or in general need it for domestic reasons. I've never had to repair it and it is working like a gem. However I will report back if it gives up, however if that does happen I have the guarentee which I hope I will never have to use! Was It Worth Buying? YES! Our house is always needed a sowing machine. Not only is it a hobby for me and my mum but also handy for making presents for people and of course repairing clothes. A complete novice could use this easily. I've not had a single problem with it, and I bought this last year. Since then I have made a bag, three cusions, repairs to trousers (caused by two very mischievious little brothers), customising a blanket and my proudest item, a duvet!!! I'm very glad our family invested in this and would totally recommend this. Whether you need a new one or are just wanting it for a hobby then this is the machine for you. Complete novices, if you want something easy to use then this is for you. It makes it a bit different and you will be looking through all the fantastic patterns and trying them out. A few have inspired me to make some of the items... A note, if you have a sewing machine get your kids into it if you have a spare hour. I loved my mum buying me pretty material and me able to muck about on it. Get more people into sewing and making their own clothes!!! Copyright of Scotlandizdabest on dooyoo.co.uk

              Advantages

              Disadvantages

A Great Book To Have If Your Studying Higher English.

Oh no, English is one of the most important subjects anyone will take at school. Not only does it get you into most Colleges and Universities but it is vital in using in life. Not the remembering quotes side of the course but the expression and analysis side. As I live in Scotland, I studied different courses and gained different qualifications compared to England and Wales . In Scotland you can get Standard Grades, Intermediates (1&2), Highers and Advanced Highers. I'm not very a customed to other education systems in the UK, but I do know that a SG is equivelent to a GCSE and a Higher to a A-Level. Last year I studied my Standard Grades, and now I am a Higher Student. A very scary thought. After getting a 1 in Standard Grade English (After an appeal!) I was fully prepared to get into the Higher course straight away! Higher English is just one of the many courses you or your child could take at 5th or 6th year or at College if you are in Scotland. It is actually the most popular course as most universities require it for a Grade C or above. Universitys and employers look for this as it shows good reading, writing and communication (expression) skills which are nessicary for the outside world. Almost everyone in my year took Higher or Intermediate 2 English as it is a qualification that everyone needs. You study three units - *Language Study *Personal Study *Textual Analysis Each unit will have an end of unit test called a NAB. These then go on your certificate to show you have passed these units. However if you don't pass these you may not be able to sit the final exam. This is where this book comes in. You or your child will have studied to course for a year and believe me it will have gone fast. It is less than two weeks before the exam, you haven't started revising and if like me they need a recap, then a revision guide is a god send. However there are quite a lot to choose from, so why pick this study guide? I chose this one as first the title got to me "How To Pass" which sounded exactly what I was looking for. There is a huge range of books from the same company (Hodder Gibson) for different students which is very handy as if you like this book, you are more likely to use this company for other subjects. This is what happened to me anyway, and I bought all the books in the Higher range that I needed. The cover is of the world, which I suppose you could say it was one of the things covered in the course, but is approriate. There is a big tick and you are able to clearly see the subject and at what level. Make sure you buy the right level for you as the Standard Grade and Higher books are quite similar. It has a really nice introduction from the author, who is a English teacher so knows exactly what is in the exam and what you need to know. Also the classic mistakes students make which is really good and how to write a brilliant essay for the exam. So it is made for students from teachers to help pass exams. Brilliant, exactly what I needed! I needed something that could help me when I needed. I decided to have a good read and it seems to have a lot of information in a clear, nicely laid out form. Every so often there is a box, highlighted with a defination of a word, exam tip or a helpful comment. This was basically a teacher in writing which I thought was really handy as I needed as many tips as possible and something that wasn't my textbook to revise from. It it quite long, so you can't really read it all in one go, but '''it is great to read in little bursts for full effect, which is a huge advantage of this book.''' The Higher English it is split into 2 papers. The first one is on your close reading skills. This means your given two passages (usually newspaper articles) with two points of view. You will have 100 marks to earn which are split roughly 50/50. The questions are then split into Analysis, Evaluation and Understanding. This is your key to understand what the question is asking. In the book, it has different sections for how to answer these questions, which is really handy. The thing is about these questions is that you may have got it right, but the wording and answering the question may be wrong. Very annoying I know but that is what you have to do. However in class you would have done about how to pass these questions but this book gives you the kick in the bum you need to really get you up to grade A level. The other paper is the one I found the hardest, the writing. You are given a book of possible questions in which you have to answer 2. You have to pick from 4 sections which are Plays, Poetry, Media (Only for certain students) and Prose. There is also Non-Fiction however that is rarely done. The book explains to the student HOW to approach these questions in the best way possible. Essay writing was what I did struggle with as there really is a set way to do it. However like my teacher suggested, the book backs up the fact that it is all about structure. It showed you how to do the perfect introduction and had lots of hints and tips to how to develop your essay. My problem was expression, I did have problems getting what I wanted on paper. The book offered you tips on how to evaluate and analysise so the marker knows exactly what you are trying to say. I thought this was really handy and a great feature of the book. It was also able to reassure which was nice. It has some fantastic ideas and pointers to get your brain buzzing for writing the best essay you can on the book/poem/play of your choice. I used this before I had my NAB's, prelim (a fall back exam incase anything happens in the final exam) and my final exam. I used it a lot before my final exam as unlike my textbook, it was a condensed down version and had everything I could need and that could come up in the exam. Also in the back it has practice questions which test your your essay writing skills and knowledge of the books/play you have been studing. It is really useful to try these to get an idea of what exam questions will be like as it uses real past paper examples. I really do need to stress that this is not an alternative for not listening in class etc. When reading the book, it assumes that you know all the information (or most of it) already and it is really there to make sure that you do know everything, and any problems or confusions you have are corrected. So if you try and use this without doing the course or not really listening then you may find it a bit of a struggle to read. What I liked about this book was how it never strayed off subject, and was really helpful in giving me ideas. However it did have some problems like any other book. What the book lacked was a better ideas. Some of the ideas they had were good but seemed to be a bit confusing. For example, I was looking for a CLEAR example of Evaluation in an essay. The book did have an example but it didn't show how and why that was the best way to do it. It did lack clarity and explanation which was frustrating. Also the print is all in black in white which is a bit of a drawback as it would have been more handy if there had been some colour. It isn't old fashioned but color can help learners more than black and white. Apart from these drawbacks this is still a very good book to use. What I noticed was that it isn't 100% there and the author actually did warn you that this is not a substitute to reading and studying. However I think that this point has to be made clearer, this is not a easy way out to help you pass the subject. I got my 'How to Pass Higher English' from Border Books for £8.99 which is a lot to pay, but I do feel it is worth it. You can get it off Amazon a bit cheaper, which is handy and is what I will do when I get my Higher books. You will only be able to buy this from bookshops in Scotland, as it is a Scottish course but online is the way I would recommend to get it for the best price. Watch out as some sites add hefty postage and packaging prices. There are also lots of used ones on eBay so grab a bargain! Overall if you are doing the course I would recommend using this book. It is a really helpful add on to the textbook and your own notes and was pleased overall with the quality of the book. It has some really handy tips that I was able to use for NAB's and in the prelims and final exams. I don't know yet what my Exam results are for this subject. I need a C to get the course I want for University. So will find out on the 5TH OF AUGUST! Copyright- Scotlandizdabest 2009 on dooyoo.co.uk

                Advantages

                Disadvantages

Fantastic for WWE fans, no legendery fights but some fantastic moments

Yeah ok I am a fan of WWE. So what? I am just an ordinary 17 year old with little brothers who are obsessed with the show so I do have an unhealthy knowledge of the sport of wrestling. No matter who you are, you will know someone who has a secret obession to WWE, you don't have to be a teenager. It has been found that WWE is watched by many walks of life from OAP's to working professionals. Watching it is a fantastic way to kick back and let professional wrestlers do the most fantastic moves, follow exciting story lines and see their passion to be the champion. I found this kicking about in the DVD shelf so thought would have a watch and give a fab review! Cyber Sunday is a fairly new idea from the WWE to try and get the audience involved in the matches. This means selecting competors, referees and match styles using an internet voting system. This has been popular with one of the polls on the DVD had more than 14 and a half MILLION votes online. It was brought in to replace 'Taboo Tuesday' so this episode is the first Cyber Sunday shown on pay-per-view. However it only effects the Raw brand, so you won't see any of the Smackdown or ECW super stars in these matches. This DVD has 7 matches on it, all of which have been shown on the WWE before however you do get to see some extra footage like DX warming up the crowd. However this is only because you get to see the camera running the whole time so you don't miss a thing. These matches are: Big Show Vs. John Cena Vs. King Booker The idea of this match is to have the ECW Champ vs WWE champ vs World Heavyweight Champ, with a winner takes all. So potentially one of the wrestlers could go home with two championship titles earned. This features a storyline which the WWE does so well to dramatise the matches and make it even more exciting. Queen Booker (Ironically King Bookers wife) tries to talk down the Big Show to work with her husband in the match. However he totally disagrees and tells her basically where to go. Later on King Booker pleads to Cena personally but nope he isn't having any of it. This is a no disqualification match which are always the most dramatic. This means that wrestlers can use weapons such as steal chairs, tables and even the commentators desk. Of course the three competors use everything, in a highly dramatic match which sees blood, sweat and pain! Who will wins who's title? A classic match which twist and turns every second! 5/5 D-Generation-X (DX) Vs. Edge & Randy Orton I love DX! It is made up of the Tag Team of Triple H and Shawn Micheals. They are the comedy duo who get up to some mischief, destroying the WWE empire and annoying their boss. This match sees them face Randy Orton and Edge who are an unlikely coupling. Both are WWE champions and brilliant in their own right but both share a massive dislike Triple H and Shawn Micheals. Triple H ended up taking the Championship from Orton, while Micheals stopped Edge achieving the championship as well. It is personal, which makes the match interesting. Fans get to choose the Special Guest Referee which has some interesting selections from Eric Bishoff Vince McMahon and Coachmen. In real life McMahon is Triple H's father in law and Eric Bishoff has a strong hate towards DX. But the fans overwhelmingly voted for Bishoff which would in theory make it more difficult for DX to win. DX warm up the crowd brilliantly and both sides produces some excellent moves. However this match has the sparkle as it shows illegal moves and the extremes in which wrestling could go, but who will win? 5+/5 Jeff Hardy Vs. Carlito Anyone who has been watching WWE for a long time will have heard of Jeff Hardy. He could possibly be one of the most famous and likeable superstars in the last decade, with his amazing athletic ability. Now again fans got to pick from three potential competetors which were Carlito, Shelton Benjamin or Nitro. Carlito was picked with 62% of the vote and is ready with his trademark Apple to kick some ass. The intercontental championship is up for grabs so this is bound to be a tough match. Unlike Kane and Umaga, these men use gymnastics much more as they are smaller. This gives a completely different style of wrestling which is amazing to watch. The moves these men do is amazing and is so quick you have to watch carefully to keep up. In the first thirty seconds they have both tried to pin each other three times! One of my favourite matches, it was so energetic and was a real crowd pleaser. 5/5 Umaga Vs. Kane Fans were asked who they wanted to face Umaga so they all got busy online to cast their votes. They got to pick from Raw superstars Kane, Chris Benoit and the Sandman and with a majority of 49% he was picked. However Kane as many WWE fans will know, is a huge scary guy so it does seem to freak out Umaga a bit. I really enjoyed this match, these two very big guys battle it out to be the best. There was some very good powerful moves and I was sometimes dumbstruck at the skill and moves these huge guys were able to do. There was one move however I did know that was fake which annoyed me a bit. The WWE has done that sometimes and it just brings their reputation right down. A very entertaining and skill full match but who will win? 4.5/5 Cryme Tyme Vs. The Highlanders Vs. Viscera (Also known as Big Daddy V) & Charlie Haas Vs. Lance Kade and Trevor McDonald Fans got the vote for the type of match they wanted the Tag Teams to compete in. So you could pick from 'Fatal Four Way' 'Tag Team Turmoil' or 'Texas Tornado'. Just to clarify the matches aren't really that different, each involve all the teams but Texas Tornado involves 'every man for themself.' Many tag team matches involve only one competetor at a time but this really is a mess of fighting! The first person to pin means their team will win. As someone who is Scottish and proud, the Highlanders are very sterotypical Scotsmen and Scot's are really all like that. However with that out my system I thought this was general a very sterotypical match, putting black gangsters and cowboys into it. However this was a very entertaining match with a lot of action and really enjoyed it a lot. However there is a lot going on so it is a bit difficult to keep up. 4.5/5 Mickie James Vs. Lita (Divas Match) I'm not that keen on womens matches (no fit men!) however Lita is by far my favourite Diva. She is unlike many of the others who are very girly and samey, Lita is different and proud to be unique. She also goes out with Edge as well and you actually see her congratulating him after the match, before she goes and does her own match. This match sees all the Divas come out in their best wear (and upsetting all the males in the audience, if you get my drift!) Lita and Mickie come out into the ring and fight out for the Women's Championship. Fans get to vote for the type of match in which they got to choose from 'No Disqualification' 'Diva Lumberjacks' or 'Submission'. The Lumberjacks match won by only 6% which means the rest of the Divas (around 20 of them) have to surround the ring and make sure that if one of the divas is thrown out the ring, they go back in. These two girls are ruthless and it definately is a violent match, with some absolutely stunning moves. Prepare to see nail scratching and pulling of hair, ouch! 4.5/5 Spirit Squad Vs. Ric Flair and Roddy Rowdy Piper Older viewers of WWE (WWF) will know of Ric Flair and Roddy Rowdy Piper as they are in the hall of fame and highly skilled and considered some of the best wrestlers in the world. Between them they have over 30 world wrestling championships between them and are considered 'the legend of legends'. The fans had to pick who they wanted to be Ric Flair's partner and had a choice of Sgt Slaughter, Roddy Pipper and Dusty Rhodes. All best known for the participation in wrestling in 'older' days but all still as game as ever. Roddy won with 46% of the vote and was ready to go. The Spirit Squad is a bit of a joke really, with some highly talented wrestlers, but some terribly bad luck. A group of five of them against these two legends, this is going to be a good match. This is a comical match but I really couldn't take it very seriously at all. It was very entertaining but I got the feeling some of it had been rehearsed if you get my drift. However you may be surprised at the outcome of this match, very entertaining indeed!!! 4.5/5 Extra Features You can get commentry in 6 different languages. This is excellent because there is very little speaking in wrestling so it is only the commentry. I was looking forward to some dramatic interviews, behind the scene takes and maybe see some extra unseen footage. There are three special features in the extras menu: The first feature is 'Legends Partying With Divas' which see's Ric Flair and Roddy 'Rowdy' Piper partying and with bottles of champagne with all the WWE divas. This is a minute long featurette and pretty pointless. Ok for boys you get to see fit girls covered in champagne. It was a pointless bit of footage to put on the DVD and was sitting there think, why? 1/5 The second feature is an interview with Umaga. Again it is short and is a bit unnessicary. I found the interview itself quite interesting, you get to see him discussing (in character I may add) about the match he has just been in. It is short and to the point, however pretty disappointing. 2/5 The third feature is MUCH better than the previous two. This is an actual unseen match between Randy Orton & Edge Vs. Ric Flair and Roddy Piper. This is a full 15 minute match and an unexpected extra. It doesn't say why the match was set up or even when but it is highly entertaining. This match is not for a title and is just for entertainment purposes. There are some fantastic moves here, as you see the Current Superstars against Classics. I loved this match and thought this was all we were getting but yet MORE footage! DX come and SAVE RIC FLAIR AND RODDY PIPER FROM EDGE AND ORTON! This was such a twist and super dramatic. Many know that Ric Flair is the idol of both Micheals and Triple H and they help let them beat Edge and Orton. Ooo what an exciting match, loved every minute and had never seen it before either which made it even better. And just before it could get any better DX bring out a new character called 'Big Dick Johnson' which is a rather large dancing man. To the shock of the audience he then begins to get his kit off and in a hiliarious situation, gets the horrible ref, Bishoff to kiss his ass! Super funny moment and was a brilliant add on to the DVD! 5+/5 Overall I really enjoyed this DVD, it offers 2 and a half hours of quality WWE action. The characters/wrestlers were talented, funny and really professional. I loved watching them do breathtaking moves to their opponents. The extra features started off on a very low but got so brilliant. Throughout writing this review I struggled with whether to give this DVD 4 or 5 stars. I'm giving it four but really it is worth an extra half star. It isn't quite five star but it is a really good entertaining DVD that all WWE fans should own. I'm a avid fan and so is my family, and is one of the these guilty pleasures. I'm sure looking at me, no one would think I could ever be a fan. This is an action packed, funny and great DVD which shows off fan made matches. Loved it! Wrestlers - 4.5/5 Moves - 4/5 Matches - 4/5 Special Effects - 5/5 Soundtrack - 5/5 Extra Features - 3.5/5 Overall - 4.5/5 Copyright of Scotlandizdabest 2009 on Dooyoo.co.uk

                  Advantages

                  Disadvantages

If your studying the course, buy the book but use your own up-to-date examples!

I'm a student in Scotland at High School, and I study different courses and gain different qualifications to the rest of the UK. After getting a 1 in Standard Grade Modern Studies I was fully prepared to get into the Higher course straight away! Higher Modern Studies is just one of the many courses you or your child could take at 5th or 6th year or at College if you are in Scotland. Modern Studies is the study of Politics and Society and Current Affairs. A very useful qualification to have now a days to have as it shows essay writing skills and being able to keep up with vast amounts of information in the news and media. Most schools will have this as a compulsory subject through first and second years so you have option to carry it on if, like me, you enjoy the course to Higher level. You study a range of subjects from the Scottish Parliament, Westminster, Voting Behaviour, NATO&UN, USA and much much more. So it is popular and highly sought after to have on the CV or to go on into Higher or University education. As a social science this is good for career prospects in Goverment sectors, Social sector jobs, history, media etc. It has a really nice introduction from the author, who is a Modern Studies teacher so knows exactly what is in the exam and what you need to know. It it quite long, so you can't really read it all in one go, but it is great to read in little bursts for full effect. In Higher Modern Studies it is split into 2 papers. The first one you have to answer 4 questions which are worth 5 marks. Each school may do a different question as there are around 15 to choose from. I did about the USA, Global Security (UN&NATO), Voting Behaviour in elections and the Similarities between health and wealth. Now the book actually misses out two of the questions which are only done by a small miniority of school however does include the a good library of each subject. The thing about Modern Studies is examples can become out-of-date very quickly so you yourself need to keep up with the news and revelations. Before my exam I was able to write about Barack Obama nominating the first hispanic Supreme Court Judge and MP's expenses. So you cannot rely completely on this book. The other paper is called DME (Decision Making Excersise) in which you have to create a report on a certain policy, for example equality in the workplace for women. You have to set it out in a report style and deliver a balanced view plus adapting the role of the job you are supposed to be. This is quite an odd excersise as you have to pretend to be for example a civil servant, writing a report on a policy. This book only has a small section on this however it is very helpful. On these three pages it explains how to get an A in the paper and has some excellent tips. I used this before I had my NAB's, prelim (a fall back exam incase anything happens in the final exam) and my final exam. I used it a lot before my final exam as unlike my textbook, it was a condensed down version and had everything I could need and that could come up in the exam. Also in the back it has practice questions which test your your essay writing skills and knowledge of the subject. I thought this is a very good book, and was very happy with it however it did have some problems like any other book. The book did lack a lot examples which are a vital part of the Higher exam. You need about 6 examples per question and this book only offers minimal examples, and lacks in-depthness which is desperately needed for the exam. This is a big drawback and was a little frustrating at times. However I did have my own bank of examples so I was able to use them but I would have expected such a vital part of the course to be in the book. A disappointment. The print is all in black in white which is a bit of a drawback as it would have been more handy if there had been some colour. It isn't old fashioned but color can help learners more than black and white. Another thing I noticed was since it is condensed, it does miss some details but I was able to find it in my textbook. The price, I got mine from Border Books for £8.99 which is a lot to pay, but I do feel it is worth it. You can get it off Amazon a bit cheaper which is handy and is what I will do when I get my Higher books. You will only be able to buy this from book shops in Scotland, as it is a Scottish course but online is the way I would recommend to get it for the best price. There are also lots of used ones on eBay so grab a bargain! Overall if you are doing the course I would recommend using this book. It is a really helpful add on to the textbook and your own notes and was pleased overall with the quality of the book. It has some really handy tips that I was able to use for NAB's and in the exams. I was a bit sceptical writing this review now as I actually don't know the grade I got for the subject. I will find out my Higher results on the 5TH OF AUGUST so wish me luck ! ! ! Advantages

                    Disadvantages

A really good product that I enjoy using.

If you haven't discovered this brand you have been missing out! Bare Escentuals is my favourite brand of make up, and cannot imagine life now without it. Bare Escentuals uses 100% pure, finely crushed minerals and is so pure, you can even sleep with it on. They do a range of products from foundation, eye make up, lips and blushes. They also do a wide range of bruses and tools for those make up perfectionists out there. Almost all my make up is is Bare Escentuals after discovering the brand 2 years ago through their foundation. They use minerals which mean that certain skin types can cope with it. For example I have severe acne and this has been my god send. It not only covers it up, but also helps PROTECT my skin. I have spent around £250 on Bare Escentuals products so far, which sounds a lot but I consider it more investment. All of the brand have very exotic names and range from 'laughter' to 'fruit cocktail'. There are no very excentric style shades but there are many. 13 shades in total which are from shocking pink to soft earth colors. Each has a slight glitter effect to make sure it really catches the light and is to exaserbate the blush beautifully. The glimmer is not overpowering at all which I was a bit worried about before buying. The powder is exceptionally light and air soft in the pot and on your skin. I chose Dusk from the shades because it is just enough for me. I don't really like bright blushes and never have. I want it to be noticed but not be over powdered by it. This is probibly the most 'earth' color and natural while the others are pinker and lighter. However you have to pick the shade which you feel most comfortable in. Beauty Bay offers fantastic pictures which you can check out. From what I bought, it is a very accurate picture. If you have lighter skin, the bright pinks may be a bit too much for you or if you are darker skinned, then avoid the lighter colors. There is a great amount of choice, and Dusk was the right blush for me. The pots are pretty small, with 0.85g per pot. This doesn't sound a lot however this has lasted me easily 6 months. Because the powder is so light, you will just have to use a little bit at a time which is easy to use and very economical. The pot itself is really light and is made up of a screw cap in which the powder is underneath a separator where you just shake the pot, and will get as much or as little as you need on the lid. You then dab into the powder and shake of the excess and apply. The only problem about the design of this is if you drop it, it will go EVERYWHERE. I dropped a bit from the lid and because it is just so light, the hoover will simply not pick it all up so if you have a carpet then it will be there for quite a while. However that does prove how well made it is. Now there is a great natural color range which I was really happy with, but what was it like to apply? I found it really easy as I had already purchased a Bare Escentuals brush which allowed for easy blending. The color was exactly the same on my skin as it was on the pot, and did not loose its color at all. It is really fine and can irritate the eyes slight if you go to close to the eyelid when applying so watch out for that. It blended into the cheek area brilliantly and was easily controlled. If I made a mistake, it was exceptionally easy to correct using a wet cotton pad. I had an added bonus where I wearing the foundation as a powder which complimented brilliantly. After applying and touching up, I had to check how long it lasted... The problem with my boots natural collection blush and block blushes is was they lasted for around 4/5 hours and then just gave up. Literally just faded away after the 4th hour and sometimes didn't even last until then. Now I needed something that was going to last me for around 6 hours for school/college. I'm not keen on re-applying and don't mind if it starts to go after 6 hours, as I should hopefully be home by then! I can safely say this has effectly kept going for more than 6 hours and have seen it last around 8 and then start to give up the go. It can survive general wear like me leaning against my face and generally just fading away. I was really happy about how well it lasted and how well it could easily be applied. Now the price. I thought this was a good price at £13.99. Ok it is maybe a bit more than some would be prepared to pay but you are paying for real quality AND quantity. I bought mine from Beautybay.com where I get almost all my beauty products: http://www.beautybay.com/cosmetics/bareescentuals/g/baremineralsblush Now Boots, Superdrug etc won't sell this as it is still a small based company. It has been made so famous by the internet, reviews and on TV. You will regularly see the brand on QVC, which was where I made my first purchase of the Bare Escentuals make up. It can be bought from many different internet shops and on QVC. Now look out for cheap alternatives, don't go for the Maybellene, Bourjois etc copies. This is the real deal THAT works. Now I cannot stress how much I love this. Bare Escentuals has changed my life and gave me much more confidence and the glimmer eyeshadow is just one of my favourite items in the range. It is noticeable and really flattering if worn right. It changes my cheeks completely and makes them much more defined. Now the color choice for me, may not be to anyones taste however there are many other colors from bright pink, to orange red to natural browns. Remember they are 100% crushed minerals so can be worn in your sleep. Obviously it would be advisable to not do this however it is perfectly fine to. It is chemical, perfume and solvent free and is what you get. It is so light and works brilliantly for those with sensitive, acne prone, sore or any other which other blushes can't hide. The range has also be shown to be used by those who have been scarred as it can provide sufficent coverage. If you have acne or pigmentation on the cheeks then it will cover it delicately. It will not look like it is 'caked' on as you need very little for maximum effect. I love this blush and will gleefully have to buy another shade as it gets to summer and my skin will get darker to compliment my skin better. Until that time, this every day blush can be easily used for night time and with the glimmer, makes it that extra bit special. If you own Bare Escentuals at all, then this is an essential item to have. If you do not own any of the range, I would check it out as you will NEVER go back! Love It Love It Love It!!! Would fully recommend Bare Escentuals, you won't believe me when I say the entire range has changed my life... Copyright of Scotlandizdabest - dooyoo.co.uk

Great fun cosy item that will get the boys sleeping all night :)

Ok, an odd review from myself but this is such a popular product so it is definately worth reviewing! If you have boys then you will almost definately have heard of WWE. This review was also co-written by my brothers who have been very honest about this product. At only 8 and 11 they could become future dooyooers! Enjoy... Bit About WWE WWE has been around for a good couple of years. If you have boys, teenagers or even big kids (AKA the men that never grow up!), then you will probibly have come across this brand. WWE stands for World Wrestling Entertainment, a brand that has made itself so famous by exciting story lines, talented wrestling and good looking men! This will appeal much more to boys than girls however not to say the girls are missing out. I have been a fan since I was little and so have all my siblings. So what a better thing to get one of my brothers for Christmas is a duvet cover with their favourite WWE super stars on it. Where To Get It We got our duvet cover from Argos. We just reserved it and picked it up, and it was really easy to do it. It is in the catalogue and is not in as an 'Extra' item so should be avaliable in all stores. You can get it from various places including directly from: http://www.wweeuroshop.com/ You can also get it from Amazon and many other shops which sell bedding, especially if there is a childrens section. Ebay also does them for a knock down price, however make sure you try and avoid the fakes as they tend to be bad quality. This is only avaliable in single size, and cannot be bought in double or kingsize. We bought ours for £13.99 which we felt was a fair price to pay. I've seen some go up to around £25 which is way to much. You will get a good deal if you pay no more than £20 for this product. You have to remember it is branded which puts the price up, it is the same with others such as Disney and Warner Bros. Getting It On It is really packed tight but was easy to unpack. It has a big picture of some of the superstars with WWE hologram (which they ended up keeping and pinning up!) to make it that extra bit special. You have to iron it first as it has some quite deep imprinted creases from the folding. This is a little annoying but is bareable. It is buttoned at the ends and after ironing was fairly pain free to put on. Unlike the last duvet he had, which started to thread and fall apart, this one looked very good quality with neat stitching. After a pretty painless pulling over duvet we were able to sit back and marvell at it. 'Cool Factor' Well I have some direct quotes from a 8 and 11 year old here, so this could be one of the most reliable reviews you may ever read! It has Rey Mysterio, a mexican wrestler, on the pillow part which is good as he is 'cool' and a good wrestler. All I know that he is a really muscley guy with a cool mask. You have all the most famous wrestler from the "Raw" brand range. The WWE is split into 'Smackdown' 'Raw' and 'WCW' which different superstars compete in. The Raw superstars on this is John Cena (One of my favourites), Kane, Shawn Micheals and Batista. These names might not mean anything to you, but to a WWE fan, this is the elite. According to these two, this is a really cool thing to have and all their friends have one as well. I have also been informed that it can be flipped over and it will have a red backround, instead of a blue one on the other side. This is pretty cool I think, and allows a bit more fun with this. Cosy Factor (The Decider...) Apart from being cool, cosiness also matters. I can safely say this has passed with flying colors! It is really soft and you cannot even feel where the fabric has been printed on, it is just super smooth. It is a real 'snuggily' duvet and is so soft and warm. I love it! It would defiantely be suitable for those who just like to be warm and snug at night (mind you who doesn't) and is not rough or uncomfortable to sleep under. Full marks for the cosy factor and is excellent quality. Washing It is made up of 50% cotton 50% polyester and is prefectly machine washable. It stays in really good condition, even after washing. We've had this for around 3 months now, and is has not yet lost its brightness or softness. It has not got any rougher and is baring up nicely to getting used every day. It has had a break for a week or two sue to changing interests "I want the Power Rangers one this week" which happens to all kids! It washes really well and easily, and have had no problems with it at all. Overall One of my shorter reviews, however I wanted the world to know how cosy this is and how much I love it. It isn't even mine, but I occasionally nick it and snuggle up. I have to admit my duvet is boring and blue but this one is all colorful and has some very nice pictures of fit men! I've even considered asking for one for my birthday. This is great to have and would be a perfect gift for a WWE fan. There is a lot of other items in the range if interested, including curtains, baskets and so much more. A great quality WWE item to own! Copyright - Scotlandizdabest 2009

                        Advantages

                        Disadvantages

Fantastic film which I REALLY enjoyed :)

I've not been that much of a fan of High School Musical, Hairspray or anything like that so hadn't really seen Zac Efron much. So when my pals all wanted to see this film, I wasn't that sure if I would like it or not. I've never been into teenage girly films that much, steering more to Harry Potter and Twilight. However I was pleasently surprised that this wasn't just an average teenage film, and wasn't annoying girls bitching and giggiling while the perfect man gets what he wants. This is a pretty heartfelt yet very funny film that does deliever (in disguise) a powerful message. What Is It? 17 Again, is the newest film from New Line Cinema. They have done such films as Lord of the Rings, Austin Powers and even the Blade trilogy. However this is a little bit of a different genre. 17 Again is really a teenage film starring one of the most famous teenagers in the world, Zac Efron. But he is not the only star, with Matthew Perry (Chandellar from Friends) and Michelle Trachtenberg (Dawn, Buffy The Vampire Slayer) just to name a few. This is going to be a big hit for the 7 to 18 year olds in particular. Cast Mike O'Donnell (17 Years Old) - Of course for every Zac Efron fan he is the main man. He plays the goregus talented Basketball player Mike O'Donnell who is dating one of the most beautiful girls at school. He is ambitiously wanting a basketball scholarship and to go and live with his girlfriend at college. However after he finds out she is pregnant, he is forced to make a difficult descion. However will he learn after an extra 20 years of life, and then going back to becoming 17 again? Efron is a fantastic actor in this, and I now love him! Mike O'Donnell (37 Years Old) - Played by Matthew Perry. This is the first film I have seen him in, and it was great to see him on the big screen. He fantatically plays the bored and ever so slightly grumpy older Mike O'Donnell who is about to go through a divorce. His kids don't know him very much, his wife is fed up of him and he is struggling at work. Will he learn from his experience of being a 17 year old again? Scarlett O'Donnell - Played by Leslie Mann, best known from comedies such as "Knocked Up" "Drillbit Taylor" and "The Forty Year Old Virgin". With a filmography like that you can see she is excellent for the role. She excellently and funnily plays Mikes wife and even though he character is a bit weird, she is funny throughout and is a very good actress. Ned Gold - Played by Thomas Lennon, who is more famous for his screenwriting rather than his acting. He wrote the scripts for 'Night At The Museum' and 'Herbie Reloaded' to list a few. He has been in many smaller movie parts however this seems to be his biggest acting role so far. Ned is Mikes weird best friend who is fascinated by Star Wars, Lord of the Rings and computers. He claims to have invented some of the most famous software in the world and seems to be quite rich. Maggie O'Donnell - Mikes daughter, who is a bored confused teenager played by rising star Michelle Trachtenberg. I really enjoyed watching her as she was funny and acted simply like a teenager! She is best known for the 'Ice Princess' and 'Buffy The Vampire Slayer'. Plot Mike O'Donnell (Efron) is a popular 17 year old who attends Hayden High School and playes Basketball for the team. His best friend Ned (Lennon) who is also on the team, has a tough time as he is a complete geek, and hates High School. O'Donnell has the beautiful girl and is going to get a scholarship to college. However at his 'Make or Break' match in which it would decide his future, he finds out his girlfriend Scarlett is pregnant. 20 years on, O'Donnell is married and has two children. However he is working somewhere he hates, his children don't appreciate him and he is in general bored of life. He is getting divorced and has to stay with his best friend Ned, who is now super rich after designing software. O'Donnell goes back to his old high school to remind himself of the glory days. He forgets of course that his kids go there as well who are embarressed to see him there. He feels like his kids don't appreciate him and wishes he could just go back in time and change what happened. The School janitor starts to 'follow' him about and as O'Donnell is driving home, he sees him looking like he is going to jump off a bridge. He disappears behind a truck, with Mike thinking he fell. He goes over the ledge and falls into a vortex. We next see him covered in mud, and having to take a shower. Although his clothes are a bit loose, oh wait he is 17 Again! And it is Zac Efron IN THE SHOWER!!! After a humerous fight between Ned and him, they figure out using Neds odd books, that his spirit guide is wanting him to become 17 again, to realise something. However they don't know what he has to realise. They reach a new problem though, and decide to enroll Mike into school. Ned acts as his dad and after flirting with the principle (who like him is addicted to Star Wars etc!) This allows Mike to see what new teenage life is all about like how to dress 'cool' and of course finding out and discovering more about his children. However as he becomes best friends with his own son, he discovers more about his wife, in hiliarious scenes. But will Mike be able get back to being 37 again, but more importantly learn and remember what teenage life is like and about how much he loves his wife? You will have to watch it to find out. Is It Funny? I have to be honest, this is one of the funniest films I've seen in a while. I was slightly surprised as you wouldn't expect a cast like this to have a VERY funny film, just a couple of fairly good gags. However this fast paced film kept it coming in scenes, and it used new material, yet it was only observational comedy a lot of the time. What I would say is it is more teenage comedy, as it is a very up-to-date film it wouldn't be that funny to the 'older' generation. This would be funniest for younger people. So yes this is a really funny film. Soundtrack I LOVED the sound track. It is really bouncy, young and fitted excellently with the film. It featured songs from the Kooks, Ying Yang Twins and even Kool&The Gang! I was so thrilled especially when I heard the Kooks as they are one of my favourite bands. What the soundtrack cleverly did was not go for the cheesy teenage music (Like i've seen other films do!) But instead went for high quality, well written songs which went fantastic with the storyline and scenes. I thought about actually downloading the soundtrack from iTunes, which I might do actually after writing this, but the music selected was very good, and nothing at all bad about it! Overall This is a very fresh new film which is great as a Spring Blockbuster. I really enjoyed the storyline and was laughing a lot and almost in tears in other parts. The emotional jolts to the viewer make this film very memorable. Ok it isn't very exciting, however it is the perfect teenage film. I would highly recommend it to see in the cinema, or even when it came out on DVD. This would be fantastic for children and teenagers and even young adults, who are the target market. I'm not a fan of teenage films however this is one I would watch again. I give this film 5 Stars * * * * * It is BRILLIANT! Copyright of Scotlandizdabest 2009 on DooYoo.co.uk

                          Advantages

                          Disadvantages

A brilliant book, audio gives a new perspective.

**What Is It?** Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is the 2nd book in the Harry Potter series. I own all the series now on audio CD and have been able to get almost another perspective of the series in general, just by listening to it, instead of reading it. This is one of the shorter books at 251 pages (compared to over 650 in the later books!) This book comes in many formats; paperback, hardback, braille, larger print, in many different language and audio. This review is on the audio CD Children's version on the book, for the Chamber of Secrets. **Why Buy It?** I am a HUGE HARRY POTTER FAN. So if you are like me your a huge boy wizard fan like me then you HAVE to read it as you want to knew what happens next, from his first visit to Hogwarts. If your not as serious as us fans then you may read the book just to see if you like the Potter series or not. But the reason a lot of people buy it is because there children want to read it but can I stress that this is not actually that big of a children's book. It would be suitable for any range of reader. A good example of another reason to buy is as because the books are getting longer, your child may love the movies but may not be able to read to that level. So listening to the book, can then lead to them reading the book. This would also benefit dyslexics, who may have trouble reading the book, but want to enjoy the adventures of the boy wizard. It would also be good for people who may don't like reading very much but enjoy the films, and want to get another perspective on the story. And of course for lazy readers, ok I have to admit I can't be bothered sometimes to read, but want to just relax and listen to another world. **Characters** *Harry Potter- The main character and the wizard we all love so much. The Chamber of Secrets see Harry slowly start to realise who he is, and going on his most exciting adventures to date. Chasing spiders, solving mysteries and beating a giant snake just to name a few. *Ron Weasley- Harry's loyal best friend. Has been with Harry since the beginning. You see a new side of Ron in this book which is fantastic, as you see his courage and starting to like Harry, discover himself. *Hermione Granger- Harry's other best friend she shines in a new light in this book. Unlike the last book, you see her getting caught out however is able to save the trio in numerous situations, even if she didn't mean to. One of my favourite characters in the book. *Ginny Weasley- Awww! She fancies Harry and is Ron's little sister. However gets herself into a horrible situation in this book where she gets caught out by a magical diary. Also she gets the moment of her dreams where she gets rescued by Harry. Awww! *Lord Voldemort- His powers are growing and his plans to kill Harry are becoming more powerful and adventurous. He is a hugely important character in the book, in which Harry again tries to defeat him, while figuring out how Voldemort is connected to the diary. Also known by his real name as Tom Riddle. *Dobby- The loveable house elf, who helps Harry immenesly through a difficult adventure. He also opens Harry's eyes to the inhumanity some witches and wizards use against Magical Creatures. * Gilderoy Lockart - The new Defence Against The Dark Arts teacher and considered new sexy diva in Hogwarts. He has claimed that he has fought WereWolves, slayed Dragons and destroyed evil beasts. However apart from being a girls pin-up in the magical world, is he everything he says he is? *Rubieus Hagrid- The mini giant (Yes his mother was a giant and his father was 'normal') is the gamekeeper to Hogwarts. He has been looking after Harry since he started Hogwarts and you get to see a new light of him in this book. **So What Has Happened So Far?** The Philosphers Stone, saw Harry being introduced to the Wizarding World, and of course to Hogwarts. This was a great introduction but as the reader you want to know more about the magical world itself and the secrets. We have discovered that Harry's poor parents were not killed by a car crash, but by evil Lord Voldemort in which Harry was the only known survivor. After being brought up by his horrible aunty and uncle, he discovers (much to his delight) he is actually a wizard. He goes to Hogwarts and makes friends with Ron and Hermione and shares an adventure. This forms the platform for their later adventures. **Front Cover** The front cover comes in two designs, the Childrens and the Adults. The childrens is of Harry and Ron in a magical flying car. This is one of my favourite scenes in the book, and I love the artwork. This is found on a majority of the Audio covers. The adult cover is of 2 snakes entwined with jade green eyes. This fantastic artwork (see the Dooyoo photo) represents the Chamber of Secrets itself. We later find out that this is a vital part of the story. Both of these books are exactly the same however and have exactly the same chapters etc. I like the idea of two different covers, however it is only to make the older adults who may get 'embarsed' at the fact they are somewhat reading a kids book... **CD's** There are 8 CD's to listen to in this audio book. This is a lot, but compared to the other audio books it is a tiny fraction! They all have clearly listed numbers on them so you are not lost to find the next CD. They are all read by the AMAZING, INCREDIBLE, BEAUTIFULLY VOICED Stephen Fry, his reading is simply flawless throughout. I adore his voice and he even does the character voices, which are amusing and fantastic. His iconic voice makes the book highly enjoyable and I adore listening to his crystal clear voice throughout. I couldn't think of anyone better to read the books (he does the whole series) and you get exceptionally familiar to his voice. If you do what I do you can download the CD's onto iTunes which actually added up to 98 'tracks' so basically where they stop and started recordings. This is an excellent feature and means you can put it then on your iPod and MP3 player, if you are wanting to take it to extreme portable. I did this and it worked out really well, and I throughly enjoyed keeping up with the book, on my iPod. Most have the facility to recognise Audio Books, and keep it away from the music section if you desire that. **Plot** The book starts off similarly to the first book. If you have not read the first one (or listened to) then it would a good idea if you did, as it is harder to get into compared to if you had read the first one. Harry is in his room, stuck there and with little communication with the outside world. His owl, Hedwig is his only companion. It is his birthday, but no one has bothered to contact him, even wishing him happy birthday. However he gets an unexpected visitor, a house elf by the name of Dobby visits him to warn him not to go back to Hogwarts. How odd? Harry's happiest moments had been at the school for witchcraft and wizardry yet this little (big eared) elf says not to do it. Dobby has also been stealing Harry's letters so he would get annoyed. How mean! After Ron getting worried that he hasn't sent any replies to his letters so him and his brothers steal their fathers flying car and drive to Harry's house and break him out. This is one of my favourite parts of the book and after this rebellion the Weasley brothers get home to get the most massive telling off from their mother. After getting over the hastle of escaping they head off to Hogwarts. They get all their school books, and we meet a new character, Gilderoy Lockart. He will be the new DADA teacher and is a girls pin up dream, and also very up himself. Loves a photo opp with Harry! Now the boys need to get to school however are are not able to oddly get through the barrier. We later find out that it was Dobby doing this. So Ron not learning from his last telling off, decides that they should actually drive up to Scotland to Hogwarts! So they do that... Of course getting into severe trouble, they also accidently crash into the ancient Womping Willow which almost kills them. They get almost excluded however Dumbledore stops this happening. So ok, not the best start but now they are finally able to get back into a 'normal' routine. However weird things start to happen. Harry starts hearing a voice, however no one else can hear it at all. Of course everyone is getting worried about him. People start becoming 'petrified' which causes them to be frozen until they can be unpetrified. Harry, is basically blamed for everything going wrong. They figure out the story of the legendary Chamber of Secrets and they figure out that Harry can actually speak Parsel-Tongue which is why he hear the voices, however this means he can speak to snakes. Muggle-borns are increasingly being attacked and the trio desperately trying to solve the mystery. However when Hermione gets attacked and Ron's little sister Ginny gets captured, Harry gets desperate and has to risk life to save them. There are killer spiders, giant snakes, blood, teenage angst and of course a drop of romance. What more could you want from such an exciting plot? **Price/Where to get it** The RRP is £39.99, which is a lot of money, however I got mine for just £15.99 from Amazon. You do get it in a nice box to keep all the CD's safely. It can also be downloaded of iTunes. This will cost you around £18, and comes in tracks. It can be easily found, just search Chamber of Secrets and you will be able to download it easily. For 9 and a half hours of Harry Potter brilliance, I think this is well worth the money. But you can also BORROW it from the library for free (well in my local one anyway) but I'm pretty sure it will apply to a lot of people. This one you can still get on tape as well, if you prefer to use them instead of CD's. It can be bought from Borders, Amazon, Waterstones, WHSmith and many more shops. There are a lot of deals on just now, like buy one Harry Potter audio book, and get another discounted. **What's Right With It?** This is such a thrilling, exciting book to read. I could not stop listening to it but had to because I needed to sleep or go to school! Seriously once you finish a chapter you have to listening the next one as you need to know what is happening. The characters characterisation is outstanding in this book as you see each indivual grow up and face the most horrible situations, at such a young age. It has a sense of reality as well and you feel it is possible to do these things. Also as I personally am around the same age as Harry and his friends I really feel I can relate to them. The book reminds you a lot that Harry, Ron and Hermione are just becoming teenagers and having to deal with all this must have been really tough. It is a truly fantastic listen, or if you get a chance, to read. It is the last book, and if you have been reading all the books this, I think everyone will guarentee you will throughly enjoy! **What's Wrong With It?** What I've found is that this book is very dark and quite scary. It features death and evil which may worry some parents to read/listen to the book. It really isn't for young children however this is one of the lightest books in the series and would be fine for many children. I first read the book when I was 11 and found it scary! Because it is avaliable in audio it is a lot easier for younger ones to get access so just a caution to parents, that this a little dark book to be listening to. **Conclusion** I've actually found, using myself as an example that readers grow up with Harry. I was only 8 when Philosphers Stone came out and I read it and watched the movies when I was 10/11 and as now I am 16 I can actually relate to Harry a lot. This was the second audio book of Harry Potter and I do prefer the book to audio, however only marginally. The audio allows you to relax more. If your not really familiar with Harry Potter but don't enjoy reading then this is for you (or just watch the films) but I can guarentee, content wise, the Books are so much better. I love this book, I love Harry Potter and I loved writing this review. I would recommend it to everyone teenagers, parents, gran parents everyone! 5 stars from me. Bare Escentuals is my favourite brand of make up, and cannot imagine life now without it. For those who have yet to discover this fantastic brand, Bare Escentuals useds 100% pure, finely crushed minerals and is so pure, you can even sleep with it on. I have spent around £250 on Bare Escentuals products so far, and have now moved on to the eye range. Now Dooyoo has techincally catergorised this wrong as there are actually MANY colors in the range. I won't list them all but I have 2 which are: *City Lights (A brown almost golden yellow tinge in it) *True Gold (Beautiful light peach color) All of them have very exotic names and range from deep blues to goregus oranges. There are no 'Barry M' style shades with greens and neon pinks, but they do much more natural and sutle colors for the less eccentric like myself. I love summer golds and browns so I felt these two colors would be perfect to me. Each color has a brilliant 'glimmer' to it, where it is not glitter like, but really natural shine which I adore. These show up much better in the lighter colors especially and make them much more bolder and natural. The glimmer is not overpowering and glitter like, but instead very light and air soft. The pots are pretty small, with 0.57g per pot. This doesn't sound a lot however this has lasted me easily 4 months each. The color was exactly the same on my skin as it was on the pot, and did not loose its color. It is really fine and can irritate the eyes slight if you go to close to the eyelid, however I have found the way around this is by placing a wet tissue below the eyelid to collect any excess. It blended into the eye area brilliantly and was easily controlled. If I made a mistake, it was exceptionally easy to correct using a wet cotton pad. After applying and touching up, I had to check how long it lasted. The problem with my boots natural collection eye shadow and maybellene, was they lasted for around 4/5 hours and then just gave up. Now I needed something that was going to last me for around 6 hours for school. I'm not keen on re-applying and don't mind if it starts to go after 6 hours, as I should hopefully be home by then! I can safely say this has effectly kept going for more than 6 hours and have seen it last around 8 and then start to give up the go. It can survive general wear and tear and as I have glasses, I needed something that could be that bit better to show off my eyes underneath them better. I was really happy about how well it lasted and how well it could easily be applied. Now the price. I thought this was a brilliant price at £10.79. I bought mine from Beautybay.com where I get almost all my beauty products. Now Boots, Superdrug etc won't sell this as it is still a small based company. It changes my eye area completely and makes them much more defined. Now the color choice for me, may not be to anyones taste however there are many other colors from pink, orange, blue, brown and silver. Remember they are 100% crushed minerals so can be worn in your sleep. Obviously it would be advisable to not do this however it is perfectly fine to. It is chemical, perfume and solvent free and is what you get. It is so light and works brilliantly for those with sensitive, acne prone, sore or any other which other eye shadows can't hide. The range has also be shown to be used by those who have been scarred as it can provide sufficent coverage. I love this eye shadow and am wearing it right now (I think the gold one). I will gleefully have to buy another shade as it gets to summer and my skin will get darker to compliment my skin better. Until that time, this every day eyeshadow can be easily used for night time and with the glimmer, makes it that extra bit special. If you own Bare Escentuals at all, then this is an essential item to have. If you do not own any of the range, I would check it out as you will NEVER go back! Love It, Love It, Love It!!! A Fantastic Game Which Every DS Owner Should Own

What Is It? Nintendogs is the first in one of the most popular games Nintendo has ever made for the Nintendo DS. Released in 2005 it is still going very strongly, becoming one of Nintendo's most popular games, with it still on the market, 3 years on. This is the Daschaund and Friends version I am reviewing, in which you can get other covers containing different breeds of dogs to pick from. Nintendogs game is compatible with the Nintendo DS (Or DS Lite) which is a handheld games console with a revolutionary touch screen pad which makes it different. It will NOT work in another Nintendo product like the Gameboy or Wii. Why Buy It? I got mine in HMV for my siblings birthday and I this is my second Nintendogs game now. There were a couple of reasons to buy it. First if you have always wanted a dog and can't (like if you live in urban areas, or cannot give up the time needed to have a dog etc.) then this would be a really fun game to have. Second if you just like animals in general and want something fun to do in your spare time. And third if you want a game where a lot of DS players already have then great, this is one of the DS's most top selling games, even after four years of its release. Age Range You could play this game if you were 10 or 100. The age range is so varied as it is really aimed for younger people, it would appeal to anyone. However what I noticed is that some parts are a little complex for say an 8 year old like where you are training your dog etc. But apart from that I would say the age range varies from young to adult. If you have a DS, not matter what your age then I can guarentee you will enjoy playing this game, it isn't just a kids game. If you have seen the advert you will see Girls Aloud playing the game! Cover Not something I would usually talk about, however the covers matter when it comes to Nintendog games. I got the Daschund one, it is to cute not to buy! There are 4 covers to choose from. Each are offering slightly different game play and unlockable items and essentially different breeds of dogs. They are: - Labrador - Chihuahua - Dachshund - Dalmatian (Also have this one) Now if i'm honest unless your a bit picky it doesn't really matter which cover you choose (although I think the Dachshund is the cutest one) unless you want a certain breed of dog to play with. Breeds This does matter a bit to me, and others for example if your favourite breed of dog was Dalmation, then you would buy the dalmation one, or if you love Labradours etc. On the Daschund one you get: - Miniature Dachshund - Golden retriever - Beagle - Pug - Siberian husky - Shih tzu You can get other breeds if you have a friend that has another Nintendogs game using 'Bark Mode' or you can unlock them but it will take a lot of dedicated playing to get the right amount trainer points. So unless you want a pacific dog breed to play with it really doesn't matter what cover you buy, they are all the same price and graphics etc. You can also unlock other breeds while progressing through the game, so you won't be restricted to those breeds. Starting Up As soon as you begin the game you first get introduced to the game straight away, as you have to pick a puppy. Now you can pick a breed but you they only give you 3 puppies to choose from and they may all be male or female and they all have different personalities, so you cannot make your own dog from scratch which I think is good. So you have picked a puppy and you have to teach it its name by speaking into the microphone. So I called my first one 'Holly' as that is the name of my real dog anyway so i said Holly into the microphone. So every time I say 'Holly' into the microphone, Holly will run up to me. You have a house which you live in and you can change from 4 interiors later on in the game. You have a certain amount of money to start out with (I think around £1,500) but you have to spend money on water, food, accessories etc. So to earn money you have to enter your puppy in competitions like agility, obidence and disc catching so the better you get the more money you get and eventually you will be earning £1,000's! You can only do this however if you show your dog lots of love and take it training but don't over do it. You can go to the shops to buy collars, food, water, toys and even hats and bows! Depending on how much money you have and how much trainer points you can get different items from tennis balls to cameras, to balloons. You can even leave your dogs in the care of a dog hotel if you are a bit overwhelmed by them. But the main thing you do in the game is looking after your puppy. You do this by feeding, taking it for walks, showers, letting it interact with other dogs and basically giving it affection and giving it lots of lovely tender loving care. This game will carry on for ever if you want it to... Addictiveness/Fun I got this game on Christmas day and found it really fun to start with. I have only been playing it for 6 days I admit so I cannot comment on how long it will last but so far I am willingly on it everyday (along side my brain training game) so, so far it is very addictive. I find it fun but now i'm into day 6, it is becoming a little bit boring, as the novelty starts to wear off. There does seem to be a limit of game play on this now as I have completed different levels. However I really can see myself playing this for ages. I think for a while however it will loose my interest but then i'll feel guilty for leaving my little puppies to fend for themselves (which I think a lot of people will feel!) but I can sense it will start to get boring. Does It Take Full Advantage Of The DS? YES! A very simple answer, it uses every feature the DS has to offer. The stylus is used brilliantly as you are able to play with your dog (like throwing a frizzbee) and able to stoke it and teach it to sit. You are able to hold the lead and give it biscuits. Almost everything you can do with this game is with the stylus which is brilliant, and allows it to make it that bit realer. The microphone is used really well as you can teach your dog its name, tell it to sit, lie down etc. And you can even blow up balloons and bubbles using the microphone which is really cool. The screen LCD lets you just watch your puppies and is a break from using the stylus. Graphics/Sound Effects Wow, is the first word that came into my mind! DS games I find tend not to have the best graphics but I feel I was very wrong. I was very impressed by the detail for example of the dogs fur but the amount of detail in general. The backrounds are really good and clear. The dogs are very detailed and look really good and are not roughly done up. The graphics are very impressive for a DS game standards. Listening to your puppy bark is just heart warming! The sound effects are really impressive, again for DS standards. The puppies barking at each other and the sound effects of even the slightest things like throwing a ball can be heard brilliantly. It has a lot of back round music which is very clear and doesn't annoy you like it can sometimes do. Very impressed again by Nintendo's detail, well done. Price There is a general price of this game, which is around £24.99 from almost all good game retailers like HMV, Amazon.co.uk, Game etc. I have seen it for around £29.99 which seems to be the maximum price. All of the other covers are around the same price as well. This is a good price but it is at the top end of DS games price wise. Have a look around and if you are purchasing a DS try and get Nintendogs in a bundle, as you can get a great discount. What's Right With It? Well it is very unique, who would have thought that we could sit in the comfort of our living rooms, telling our own little virtual puppies to 'Sit' and 'Roll Over'. It is a very unique game and now there are a lot of copycat games out there that are cheaper but are they just as good? So it is a very original game with original ideas. Looking after very cute puppies and watching them grow into handsome dogs is just great! The amount of stuff you are able to do with them is great and for people who don't know how ot care for dogs, is a bit of an eye opener. The graphics and sound are fantastic and really add to the reality of the game. You notice that they never seem to make two dogs alike so your dog is pretty unique in the game. If you look closely at the dalmatians you'll notice that the spots are different to each dog, so each dog is pretty unique. It is fun and a real novelty to have. It is unique, long lasting and will entertain everyone! What's Wrong With It? Sadly it does have one or two flaws. The main one is that the story line needs to be improved as once you have trained your dogs it can actually become a chore after a while. It can loose its fun factor in about a week or 2 and becomes boring once you have figured out everything. So you leave it for a couple of weeks but then you feel guilty because your dog is starving and has fleas (yes it's virtual but you do kind of get attached) Also I admit it does leave you feeling a bit stupid, when your sitting in the living room declaring 'SIT!' Into a console and getting odd looks. But that isn't really a wrong thing but thought I should just add it. Conclusion What a fantastic game to have! Looking after your own puppy in the easiest way possible, in the virtual world so you can just put it in your pocket. If you are a parent getting nagged for a puppy then I think this might be your safest bet, it's cheaper, easier and less hastle and will have the children (and yourself) playing on it for hours. It is for everyone to play young or old and it will have you entertained for a while but it will loose its fun factor. I would recommend this to every DS user as it is the must have game, no matter what cover they have. Super cute fun game, and would recommend it to everyone who owns a DS. The best WWE game on the market!

1997. The first time I ever set eyes on the WWE (Then known as the WWF) franchise. The World Wrestling Entertainment is bascially a bunch of highly skilled men and women in the career of entertainment wrestling. Their prize, to be the WWE Champion. Every single fan has their own favourite star, duo and group of wrestlers. Why Buy It? This game was only released in November 2008, so is in games top of the range. I bought this because I am such a big fan of WWE. I have to admit having two brothers and having a boy orientated family has not helped, and we regularly watch Smackdown and Raw on Monday and Friday nights anyway. We had already S.Vs.R 2007 and 2008 which were great fun so it seemed logical to buy the 2009 version. Unlike a lot of games, this is still being released on PS2 which is great as it is more common for new releases only to be released on PS3 and it is great for us people who haven't made enough Ciao money to buy a PS3 or an Xbox 360. This is a really fun game, and fans of wrestling will love it. If you have a PS2/3 Xbox or Wii then you are missing out on experience. Even if you are not really a fan you would like this if you like creating characters, following storylines or just love to play a good fight. Starting Up Unlike previous WWE games, you start off on the road to Wrestlemania. This is a huge event where you can contest to be the WWE champion, against everyone else worthy. You can play this as part of the 'main game' where you pick your favourite character, ranging from Triple H, the Undertaker or even the Great Khali. I picked to play Triple H as he is my favourite character, but you can pick from a huge range, and I am sure that your wrestler will be there. If you don't want to do that quite yet, although that is the way to unlock all these fantastic items/characters and follow the real life of a WWE champ, then you can play and practise matches. This is a really fun feature and you can range from doing championship matches to ladder to even just normal! This is a fantastic feature and also includes the two player, Pictures of WWE SmackDown vs RAW 2009 (PS2) Kane Vs Rey, An Unfair Size Match!!! which I will discuss later on. The start up is really easy to follow and you have instructions throughout incase you get stuck. If you have never played the WWE games before then you get shown how to play at your own pace until you are a pro. Characters/Tag Teams The characters are much improved on last time. In the 2008 game, it was a bit more difficult to distingish between characters but here the detail is excellent. No matter who your favourite character is whether it was John Cena, Batisa, Rey Mysterio, Triple H or Shawn Micheals they will be there. There are hundreds of characters from ECW, Raw and Smackdown plus most of the Divas. There are also some classical characters however in this addition they have decided to not include the legend, the Rock. This is a bit of a let down and a bit confusing for fans as he will never be forgotten. Yet you are unable to unlock Stone Cold Steve Austin? The tag teams are the best they have ever been. I was so excited to see Triple H and HBK back into the legendary DX, in which this game does. You can unite your favourite tag teams like Kane and The Undertaker, Jeff and Matt Hardy and the recently united Edge and Rey Mysterio. Difficulty If you have never played the game before it can take a couple of days to master. If you have already played the WWE games then the controls are pretty much the same which is good. I started off my mode on easy as I wasn't fantastic at the game and thought I would start it out easier. However even in my first match I was struggling, this was prettty difficult. I then got my first handicap match, in which there is one opponent (you) against 2 other wrestlers. This is really difficult and this match alone took me a good 20 minutes to complete which was a little frustrating. I got better but I thought it started you out a bit too much in the deep end. Creating Characters/Finishers/Entrances This is one of the funnest bits of the game. Like the Sims, you get to create characters but with this you get a twist, you can create fantastic beautiful/hunky characters or terrible funny ones. You can make them however you like and the attention to detail you can use is fantastic. You can even change the height of their nose, or the exact color of their eye. It is very attention to detail and great fun. Whether you want to re-create yourself, a celeb or just make a really short fat funny character you will not be disappointed with creating the character. However it can be a bit slow when loading up clothes, face features etc which can be irriating. Creating entrances for your new characters is also vital. Now you can go onto easy creation were you just decide how your wrestler walks down the ramp, enter the ring and of course the music, titranton and lights. Of course you could then go onto advanced which lets you decide the camera angles, exactly how they walk and fireworks and screen effects. Some of the ways in which you can make them walk is hiliarious. You can let them enter like the Undertaker for example, where they even have his hat on! They you can enter as diva which is so funny if you have created a male character. Then my favourite, there is one where they just role down the ramp. This is great fun and you can really personalise your character like that. Of course your wrestler needs to have their signature move as well. This feature is a bit more limited as the other two creators but still good fun. You have to pick from a range of starting moves, then build up what your character does. This could be anything from running at the opponent, to head butting them or even just flicking them in the eye! This makes your character truly unique and is great fun. Two-Player This is a vital part of the game is you have siblings or friends who also love the game. If you have the port adaptor, you can actually have up to 5 people playing on this. Two-player is really easy to set up and you are away picking your characters in no time. Of course, the more you progress through the "Road To Wrestlemania" part of the game, the more characters you are able to unlock. You can pick any ring, any match and anywhere whether it is in the USA, Britain or even Australlia. You can play against the computer as well as using two player, making the match more interesting. You also have a much better feature of looking under the ring and actually able to pick the item you wish to attack the wrestler with. This could range from a steel chair to a stick covered in barbed wire. The two player is excellent. Commentry This is a vital part of the game and it has got even better. Of course you have JR and various superstars commentating. This is really important and it works really well and makes the game. What is great is the witty comments "I heard he had an IQ test, and the results came back negative!" Which was one of my favourite and made me laugh while my character was wrestling. It is much better than last time as it actually fits in with the game. If you are flipping someone they will say "Ouch, that is gonna hurt" which is really effective. I've noticed if you are also playing more famous characters, they have their own comments added. For example if you are playing Kane, it will say "Kane is a long standing champ. Why would anyone mess with this guy?" for example. This is fantastic and makes the game much more fun to play. Graphics The graphics just keep getting better. For a PS2 game, I think this is one of the best graphics I have ever seen but I also use a HD TV as well which adds to the effect. The graphics are exceptionally clear and there are not glitches for example if you are running. The hair moves, the muscles look very realistic and there is actually facial expressions. The movement of the characters is excellent and the attention to detail is fantastic. When fighting, the crowd are poorly animated but it doesn't even matter. They have hundreds of different funny signs and are very good. The entrances with the graphics are superb and the titrantons shown are the real deal and look movie quality in the background. The graphics, for a PS2 game are excellent and make the game even more highly enjoyable. No one wants to be playing a game where you can't even tell between characters. Soundtrack Love it, love it, LOVE IT! What I like is, you can click 'L3' while in the menus and it will change the song. Every time a new song comes on, a little icon at the left hand side appears and tells you what song, and the artist. This is great and I have actually been able to buy some of the music off the game now, as I know what it is called. Every time a WWE wrestler enters the ring, their signature song goes on which is a fantastic effect. My favourite song is John Cenas "My Time" which is him rapping. The sound track is fantastic and includes every single WWE song you can think of, plus other rock bands as that is the genre they tend to use. Classification This is a 15 for obvious reasons. This is violent, has pretty saucy clothes on the men and the women and of course has a story line which includes getting beaten up and many other things that young kids should not be doing. The annoying thing is that there are many kids who LOVE WWE and I got into the show when I was about 8 so putting a 15 classification seems to me to be for more insurance purposes if anything. I would take this a bit lightly if you kids are fans of the show, as there is nothing that hasn't been not seen before and would be ok, if you let your kids watch the show anyway. As long as they understand that these guys are professionals and actors. Where To Buy It / Price I bought mine in Argos for £29.98. I thought this was a great price as I had bought it in December so got it when it was just new out. Looking at different prices, Amazon and HMV seem to be the best places to buy. Although I would also check out Play.com and ebay for some great deals. This will be one of the most common games on the market as there is a huge number of fans in Britain. I wouldn't pay over £30 for it new however. If you are going to buy for PS3 or any other format then the prices tend to be more expensive. Overall I really enjoyed this game. It is so much fun and has kept me amused for months. I still haven't completed it yet and can't wait to finally reach Wrestlemania. However if you play as another character, then you will have a different story line which means the game is ultimately infinate. This is really good fun and I would take the classification lightly as I have younger brothers at 13 and 10 who play it happily. They know that these are buff guys who do this and are trained athletes. So would I recommend this game. YES!!! If you are a fan of the show, or are an old fan or even if you have never seen the show then you will enjoy this. It does help of course if you watch the show but it is really fun, and easy to follow. I love this game, and am actually away to play it for the millionth time. I will get that WWE championship!!! Advantages

                                  Disadvantages

Fantastic for a bit of a treat!

I'm a sucker for chocolate. If a genie gave me three wishes I would use one of them to create a calorie free chocolate (of course after solving world peace etc) Tolberone is one of my favourite brands and are really only seen in our house at Christmas, Valentines Day (?) and Birthdays. The big blocks are the best but one section can leave you feeling quite sickly and can be a little too much. Sometimes you just want a little bit of yummyiness, which I think is what inspired Toblerone to make '"TINYS"' What Is It? Toblerone 'Tinys' are baby versions of the blocks of toblerone, you usually can buy. However in this you get a box of mixed chocolate (ranging from White, Milk and Dark) so allowing you to share with everyone (even though I thought that was a silly idea!) Why Get Little Ones, When You Can Get Big Ones??? I have to answer this, as I'm sure when reading this you will wonder why someone doesn't just buy the big blocks. Three main reasons: - Sometimes all you want is a bit of the Toblerone, sweet yummy goodness, to satisfy that craving. Everyone gets it, especially because there is nothing like Toblerone sold anywhere else. So its great to have a little box of mini's whenever the time arises. - They come in a variety so you don't have to stick to one choc (If you fancy a bit of white chocolate, then you can go for it) Selection is key, and also if you do what I do and stick your hand in the box and get a 'surprise' (Yes that is sad, but we all have done it...) - If like me you have a big family then can be passed around much easier, instead of your dad eating a huge chunk, leaving a tiny amount between the kids. So practical, as well as yummy, to avoid wee family arguements. Presentation Box Once you have opened it, it acts as a lid so you can open and close the cardboard top to keep your 'Tinys' fresher (and safer) for longer. The fantastic thing about this is it can be easily given as a present, used as a treat and of course if you want it to be, be part of your food shopping. We got a box for this for Christmas, and it had a little santa hat on the side, in which I have noticed in Tescos, is now geared up for Valentines day. These are designed to be cute, in which the packaging is small, the writing is adorable and it wins on the cuteness level. You can get a similar one which is the 'Cubes' which aren't quite the 'Tinys' as these are actually little blocks of Toblerone. Of course I don't think you would mind! If you are struggling for a Valentines gift lads, the way to a girls heart is through her chocy's! Taste This is vital... Now to be honest they taste EXACTLY the same as regular Toblerone, with no variation at all. This is a great thing, as you are just getting the miniature versions, which has not been tampered with. The chocolate has boasted to be so good because of the honey and almond added to the chocolate. This makes it pretty unique taste wise and more unusual as you have the chewiness of the honey and almond mixed, but almost a crunch from the almost as well. The chocolate is top notch, exceptionally creamy with a melt in the mouth feel. It is just sweet enough, however can make you feel a bit sickly after about three. Heres a bit of analysis on each one, to get your tastebuds racing. The Milk (Original) One - Everyone knows this one. It has the distinct cream coloured wrapper, and is considered to be the original. This is my personal favourite and will appeal to everyone who enjoys a bit of milk chocolate. It has an exceptionally creamy taste and is quite rich and sweet, but with out being too over powering. The kick from the almond gives it an outstanding taste (I'm getting hungry writing about it!) 10/10 The Dark One - I have to admit my least favourite, and the one that is usually left at the bottom of the box. This one has the jet black wrapper, and is one of the newer releases from Toblerone. Now, I'm not actually a fan of Dark Chocolate however this one is not at all what I expected as it is still sweet, compared to the bitter taste I was expecting. This is quite a light Dark chocolate, but it is I think sweeter because of the honey, which I really quite like with this. Not my favourite but deserves 8/10 The White One - If you don't like sweet things, stay away from this one. This reminded me a lot of "MilkyBar" chocolate, except more sugary and sweeter. You definately could not eat to many of these in a hurry and is one as a treat. This is really creamy and pretty heavy in sweetness, not to mention quite milky. I could only really eat 2 "Tinys" and get away with it, but super scrummy if you are having it as a treat. If you haven't tried this one yet, then I would completely recommend you give it a try. 8.5/10 Price/Where To Get It I got my box from Tescos £3.50. These are on sale all over the country and can be bought from so many supermarkets, gift shops, sweet shops etc. Now that is quite a lot of money, however remember how much you pay for the regular one? We got this as a treat and thats how this product should be treated, like a box of celebrations. This would be a great present, and that is it should be bought, if it is for you or for someone else. Have a look out for these, I saw these on offer in WHSmith only a few days a go so watch out for them. Extras The annoying thing about this chocolate is that a lot of people can't eat it as it contains a lot of milk. You should not eat this if you are allergic to egg whites, milk, lactose, almonds and soya so watch out. Another bit of extra information you should know, these are actually really quite small. They are about the length of your thumb (sorry we've eaten them all so cannot measure them!) and really are miniture versions of the famous blocks. You do get a lot in the box though, and it is genourously filled to the top. So you can eat them quickly and cover up the trail of shiny wrappers! It's Great Because... Where do I start? These are my favourite chocolates, and beat other brands such as cadburys and galaxy by miles when it comes to quality. There is not quite another chocolate like it, it tastes like Toblerone. I really enjoy eating these, as not only are they cute little versions of the well known brand, but also are in bitesize chunks, so when you just fancy a bit you can just go and get a wee bar. These are also very cute and appealing as they can be easily shared. Families will love this (until you only get left with the dark chocolate ones) as it can be shared around easily and be stored away conviently. The smell is so super, and sweet as well and just makes your taste buds water like mad. This is a truly great treat sweet and fantastic for all sorts of reasons. It's Downsides It is calorific. If you eat them in moderation they are fine but there is quite a lot in a box and it can be tempting to have around 6 at a time. So they work out to be around 30/40 calories (The white chocolate one has the most fat) per miniture bar. If you were to only have one, it would be fine but the sweet yumminess of them, just makes you want to have more. For the size of them, I wouldn't have expected it to be as high as that. Overall You know when you just want a sugar kick? Or want a bit of chocolate after a hard days work/school/outdoor pursuit? Then this is for you. If you are stuck for a present for someone then why not this? It is comical if they like Toblerone already as the size is a little bit shocking when you first have a look (seriously they are pretty small!) and act as really good shares. Of course if buying for yourself then take out your favourite ones as they will get eaten really quickly. You will notice as soon as you buy this, a majority of your favourites will mysteriously disappear... One of my favourite treats, and I would recommend to everyone who loves Toblerone.
