At last AOL has got it into its head that thee customers are tired of paying the earth for a second rate service. They've set a flat rate tariff of £14.99 but unfortunately we still have the second rate service. Its a nightmare some nights, I know AOL have over 20 million members but some nights it feels as if there all online together. We are lucky enough to be one of the ones that are now on the flat rate and this will save us about £100 per month so I have to say thank you to AOL for that but it needs so much improving. Firstly it can take ages to get signed on to the service as very often the lines or engaged or unavailable, and when you get online you'll find it is one of if not the slowest ISP online. Your mailbox takes ages to open and sometimes it will tell you your mailbox is temporarily unavailable ... which is handy. You will also find yourself frequently being given the 'AOL boot' where you get booted offline for no reason other then the software is not up to handling the system, so as most members know to there cost if you want to d/l something on AOL get yourself kitted out with a program that will allow your download to resume where you left off (like download accelerator). And if you ever venture into a chat room looking to make friends online then forget it, If your lucky enough to find a friendly chat room then you'll often find that everyone knows each other so well that you get ignored or you'll find chat rooms are the opposite, It seem a lot of AOL members are obsessed with finding love online and are quite open about it in the chat room infact most of them are just like big online pickup joints. There seems to be an increasing number of members who make it there aim in life to make surethat other members of AOL do not enjoy there online time. And despite AOL's conditions of services charter they do not seem to care. You get people sending out viruses and trying to solicit your cred
it card numbers and it seems that everywhere you turn so many people are trying to get you to sign up to the porn site, which brings me to the amount of spamming there is on AOL its horrendous and what do AOL do?? nothing as usual. Even when you phone AOL to complain about something they still do nothing its so frustration, I just hope that the money AOL are going to lose by allowing some members a flat rate fee there services don't decline any further as there bad enough as they are,
Its finally here ... at last, after weeks of being promised it and waiting for the E-mail to arrive in my mailbox and say the site is up and running (It never did arrive). WOOLWORTH'S HAVE GONE ONLINE !!! Woohoo! Its not the nicest looking site around but it is easy to use and a godsend at this time of year.. Come on how many of us have struggled into Woolies at the run up to Christmas with the other 40,000 trying to get into one store?? most of you I expect as Woolies has always been the 1st stop for CD's, Videos, sweets and toys and now you don't even have to leave your own home. Once you get the hang of it the site is very easy to navigate, Its split into 10 departments ... Music ... which includes new releases, Album charts, jazz, Dance even Classical, music storage and music books, as well as a few others. Video & DVD...which has 40 different sections for every type of video or DVD you can think of such as new releases, Comedy Video, Kids Video, DVD new releases, and DVD Charts everything you could ever wish really, Computer games....This is bound to be a popular section, games for Playstation, Dreamcast, Nintendo and gameboy all at very competitive prices too. Toys ... what a godsend if you have to shop for you children at Christmas and don't want them around, Toys for every age and all there popular characters too such as Barbie, Winnie the pooh, Action man and every single type of toy you can think of is in the department even the outside activity toys that are hard to find in winter. At Home...from bedding to toasters this department has the lot even buy you paint brushes online. As well as kitting your Kitchen out in the huge range of tableware on sale. Technology... Not a bad department, It has all the latest pre pay mobile phones so you can choose without being targeted by pushy salespeople as well as selling all the mobile phone vouchers and accessories, als
o included are photography and you can even buy you DVD player here. Kids clothing...This department is self explanatory the full range of Ladybird clothing from birth to about 12 years, Including a huge range of school wear. Christmas....OHHH Christmas buy all your cards, gift wrap, decorations for table, room and trees. Chocolates, calenders and gifts for him and her ... even get your Christmas tree delivered to you. Christmas without the crush. Back to Uni...This department is dedicated to selling everything you will ever need when you go back to Uni, from microwaves to pencils its all her in the one department as well as offering some little pearls of advise along the way. Special offers.. The department that allows you to take advantage of all the special offers that Woolies have instore, such as 3 for 2 or muiltibuys such as 2 DVDs for £30. If you cant find what you looking for by departments then there is a handy little search facility on everypage, and if you still cannot find the perfect present then they have a 'Gift genie' just enter a few details of who you would like to buy a gift for such as age and gender and it will bring up several options for you to choose from, or you could even find a gift by someone's star sign, and if your STILL stuck then just buy your Woolworths gift vouchers here, they'll even give you a free card to go with it. The delivery charges are £1.50 for orders under £15 and £2.95 for orders over £15 and there's a 'next day' surcharge of £2 if you need something in a hurry. But if you just want the standard delivery instead of next day then it will be delivered within 3 days, which I feel is a very exceptable amount of time, I have known some online shopping sites to take more like 2 weeks to deliver, And If you receive something you are not entirely happy with then you done have to arrange for ut to be sent back just take it down to your local hig
h street store and I'm sure most people have one near them but if your not sure there is a store locator in the site too. When you visit the site then prepare to be there a while as there is so much to see and shop for, you'll find so many things you want to buy and things you'll realise you need, It will take you ages to see everything on the site but its an easy site to use and even though there are quite a few images on each page its a very fast loading site. My only criticism of the site is there is meant to be an image of everything on the site but quite a few of them are missing and this can be of putting especially if your buying something such as curtains or bedding where you need to see what your buying, but I'm sure this is just because its a new site and this will improve in time.
If you haven't already discovered the benefits of a little dab of Vaseline then you really have been living on another planet. Just one tiny smear of this on you lips before bad and when you wake up you'll have smooth silky kissable pouty lips to die for. No I'm not exaggerating lol Its also good for taming unruly eyebrows at the fraction of the cost of clear mascara, and you can even slick it over eyelashes to make them seam longer fuller and glossier too as it won't irritate your eyes. You can also use it in tiny amounts as an eye cream before you go to bed as it will plump up your skin and make wrinkles (if you have any) seem less noticeable. Its also excellent for sorting out patches of dry skin just rub in several times a day and it will be gone in a few days , I know this from 1st hand experiance as my daughter developed a patch of dry skin on her arm 6 weeks after birth and because Vaseline is so pure I had no worries about using it on her skin and the dry skin went completly . Of course you can use Vaseline for the more traditional things like as a waterproof barrier on your baby's bottom, and all this at a very low price just 99p for a small tin.
I saw this whill browsing a D/L site not so long ago and I thought I'd give it a try. Its great no more searching one site after another. Just download this and away you go. after you download it which doesn't take very long at all its so easy to use . It nestles neatly in you start programs in the 'find' folder and you just type in what you want to find and away you go. But the beauty of it it it will find the exact phrase you want not a web page with a word contained in it, If you want to look up 'free ISP' you wont end up with half your web page results with either ther word free or ISP on it . I used to use altavista but this is so much better as it uses multiple search engines at once like Lycos ,hotbot, Altavista all at the touch of a button . And at the end of your search results you can hold your cursor over a address and it will give you a summery of the contents of that page so less time is spent looking for exactly what you want. OH and its free from ZDnet so what else would you want.
We've just been shopping in Sainsburys and have come accross a new range of disposable nappies... There called Nature boy & girl and they claim to be environmentally friendly...why? well according to the pack .... " the surface of each nappy is covered with a film, based on GM free 100% natural maize which lets your baby's skin stay dry and breathe naturally- not like the plastic surface of other nappies which look similar" and they go on to say... "Our nappies are easy to put on and thinner then most nappies without losing their power to absorb. They are so thin that they allow the freedom of movement your baby needs." and.. "Nature boy & girl is made from 70% natural materials." well when we got home and I have put my daughter in one and The first thing you notice about them is the outer covering ,Unlike pampers or Huggies its 'plastic' feeling with no cotton on top of the plastic and yes they are thinner but the velcro tabs are quite thin too not unlike Pampers which I have to get used too. At the moment Sainsburys have them on special we got a pack of Maxi (34's) for £4.89 . This is the 1st time I've used anything other then Huggies (apart from half a day useing pampers before they wen't in the bin) so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. They do have a web site at WWW.naty.se but It may as well be written in chinese as its an overseas site (swedish I think)so its not much help. Oh and it states that the packaging/wrapping is 100% biodegradable, and can be disposed of with other organic refuse. my daughter was in her nappy all night as she sleeps for 13-14 hours at a time. And when she woke up this morning she was as dry as she would have been wearing a huggies nappy... Im impressed I just wish I could find out more info on these nappies as there is no address or contact number on the pack and the web site is no
use so I don't know much about them only the blurb on the pack. They may not be the SOLUTION to disposable nappies and the environmental damage they cause but I think its a step in the right direction and I for one will be using these from now on... we have had no leaks and they fit very nice infact because there thinner then your regular disposable the are more flexiable and allow baby to move more freely. There worth a try honest
This has got to be one of the most revolting yet the most conpulsive viewing on T.V. If you haven't seen it then your missing a treat LOL It follows the Environmental health officers in Sheffield and its a real eyeopener. You see them cleaning up the mess and waste that us lazy bunch of animals leave behind in everyday life but on a much grander scale. Last week saw them cleaning a property which used to house a father and son who had a mental illness and when they had been evicted it emerged that they where compelled to keep EVERYTHING and couldn't throw anything away, nothing wrong in that I hear you say but these to couldn't even part with there own excriment or urine. The place was full of the stuff in the bath the toilet on the floor in plastic bags in the fridge... It really allows you to see a world that none of us know exists , it shows just how low some people can stoop in life, and just how inconsiderate some people can be about there neighbours .Like the woman who had 21 cats none of the toilet trained. My heart goes out to the poor people who are featured who have to clear up this kind of mess they deserve £1000 a week but alas as was reveled last week they get only £150 which is disgusting in itself. Please please dont tune into this program while your eating as it is messy and it is disgusting and you WILL see things that you don't want to see I promise but the thing is its real life . Its not made up by some sick mind its real.
A safety gate is a must for every parent unless you have a padded playroom for your little angel ,and there is an ever increasing choice on the market. We didn't originally set out to buy this particular safety gate but the other one was out of stock and I'm sure glad it was. The lindam gate is simplicity in itself as far a safety gates go but thats what gives it its charm...The gate handle is easy to use you just squeeze and voila its open ,its so easy you won't have any problem while carrying a child. Its also at a nice hight so you don't have to stoop down to open it. It has an anti-pinch hinge so your child won't hurt there fingers if there hand is on the gate while its being opened or closed. And of course its two way opening which is very handy indead but if you prefer you can have it opening just one way the choice is yours. The one thing I will say about it is measure your doorframe carefully our home isn't particually old (circa 1940's) but this only just fits in the frame ,it was a struggle to get it in and I know we will have trouble getting it out but I don't mind as it has to be very secure as children will inveriable want to hold onto it to see whats going on on the other side. It also stated that this gate is pressure mounted and while it is in someway you are supplied with wall cups which you have to use but if you don't want to drill holes in your door frame then they also come with adhesive pads (extra strong) which you can use.
When I first saw the adverts for IC24 I have to say I was very sceptical to say the least ,after all you dont get something for nothing do you. I decided to give it a try as paying £9.99 + 1p per minute for AOL works out rather expensive and I never use any of ther content anyway so I duley visted the IC24 site and ordered my CD It only took 2 days to arrived which was a good start ,and it was very easy to install which is always a godsend and especially as the technical helpline cost 50p per minute which is a bit steep. You have to install the softwere and then register online at ic24.net and once your registered you get your 0800 number for free online time and it is totally free... no catch nothing. Admittedy its only free between 8-12pm but thats enough for me and you do get sat-sundays free between 9am-5pm .(until 31/10/00) and you do get disconnected after 1 hour but you can sign back on within seconds so you dont really notice it, unless your downloading of course but who would start a long download in the knowledge that they will be disconnected after 60 mins without making prior arangements hmmm? Unfortunatly this isnt available to Mac users but if you have a PC its great and its not a bad connection speed either , and like some ISP's that claim to be free you can actually connect to this one within a few minutes .
I'm quite a new member in UKMother but already I have been made to feel so welcome. Its quite a new parenting site and as such the content is limited to messaging forums, chat ,meet the members and the occasional online auction for members but having said that you won't be bored . The key to the site is communication no matter what stage you are at in parenthood even if its not begun yet you'll find a place on UKMother that is friendly and warm , the boards cover a wide range of topics from trying to concive to school age children , even music, television or the news . They even have a dedicated forum where you can try and get an answer to a technical problem that you have . The chat room is also very friendly with regular moderated chats that are alot of fun but be warned once your there you wont wanna leave. The chat room is also extreamly nice to use and is pleasing on the eye unlike some chat programs If you decide to come and look/join then just jump in on the forums or chat and you'll be assured of a warm wecome...and if your passing the miscarriage forum stop by and say Hi to me the co-moderator .Or even the product forum where I am moderater too, I'm sure you dooyooers could post a few things there .
When I gave birth last november I decided to get my proritys straight and cleaning the cooker wasn't high on the list so it kind off slipped in the cleaning department ... anyway I decided to do something about it and bought a bottle of Mr MUscle oven cleaner as it is a tried and trusted name but I wasn't holding out much hope. The instructions said spray on area to be cleaned and leave for 20mins--2hours so I left the oven/hob covered in this acrid smelling foam for 2 hours. Surley cleaning the cooker can't be this easy and you know something? I was wrong cleaning the cooker is that easy .I went back after 2 hours gave the cooker a quick wipe with a damp cloth and it was clean and shiney like a new pin. All the burn on stuff and grease had miraculously dissolved and usually I have to scrub for ages to shift it. A word of warning though keep it away from bare stainless steel as it tends to tarnish it a strange dark grey as i found out . IT doesnt say this on the bottle but I found it out. I also used this on the hob as well and it brought it up just as clean . well worth the money I would gladly pay double for it.
Being a reletivly new shopper at Lidl I have to say I'm very very suprised indeed . Its such a nice change to be able to shop somewer thats clean friendly and above all cheap and it not be called Tesco or Sainsburys, The main thing you will notice in Lidl is the absence of any brand names 99% of the produce is made and marketed by them and this alone makes them unique. Imagine going into Tesco and the only thing on sale would be there own brand ,but in Lidl it works verything is cheap and far from being cheap quality it compares very favorably to the top brands . They do have a very limited range in some categorys though ,the fresh fruit and veg is very limited and you won't find any babyfood/milk on sale so we have to shop elsewere for these but the amount we save on what I call store cupboard items like tins, drinks, dried goods, sauces and pet food then its worth having to make an extra shopping trip. They also stock an ever changing range of 'household' goods like storage continers , underware , toys, videos and even vacuum cleaners on occasion and on the whole they are very good value. And if you partake in the odd alcoholic tipple then you must shop here , again you won't find any big name brands but what you will find it bottles of whisky, vodka, gin ,rum , brandy and more at upto £3 cheaper then other stores. Its well worth a trip I promise you.
If you haven't already discovered the new Argos additions catalogue then get yourself down the high street and pop into Argos and get one. Its there new range of clothing that I suppose they have decided to add as a rival to the Index Extra book. The surprising thing is though it is so cheap its unbelievable. There are so many items for sale under a tenner you'll be amazed, and you can even pick up a gents suit (2 piece) for £39 now were else can you say that hmm? If you have children you have to look too as there is a wide range of children's clothing for all ages also at remarkable prices ...for example you can buy a child's 4 piece outfit which includes leggings/trousers,long sleeve top, fleece jacket and a fleece hat all for £19 or a 2 pack of sweatshirts or jogging bottoms for £6 each or how about a padded jacket aged from 3-18 months in pink or green for £9 yes £9. OK so they may not be as good quality as some other retailers but for children who grow out of then so fast you can't go wrong. Older children are also well catered for what about a 4 piece set (cardigan, dress, vest top and trousers) in a glittery fabric for a child aged 7-12 years for only £15. If cheap and cheerful isn't your scene then you'll also be well catered for as they have oodles of top names to choose from too like Kicker, Ben Sherman, Timberland oh I could go on for ever. All you do is make your choice and take it to the nearest Argos store and your order will be delivered to the store in 3 working days or if you prefer you can pay £2.95 and have it delivered to your home (free of charge if order is over £100) alternatively go visit there site at www.argosadditions.co.uk
We were desperate to buy a printer as in the 2 years we've had a computer we had not got around to buying one but the problem we had was were didn't have much money so we chose the lexmark Z11 and Im very glad we did. Right from the very start it's been so easy to use , to start with it was a very quick and easy set up and then away you go. Even an idiot can use it (and I can vouch for that lol) The printing is top quality and at 1200dpix1200dpi it can give near photo quality. Of course you can change the Dpi setting as you don't need it that high for documents and I think this is why some people think that the printing quality isn't so great as they haven't changed the options, Its also a very quick printer and we got a free Disney design studio with it which is great for the kids as they love to make there own cards and bookmarks etc. But by far the best feature of this printer is the price at under £70 you really cant go wrong can you.
We decided when my daughter started to roll and crawl around her cot to get some cot bumpers to stop her banging her head on the bars at night, We looked high and low at every make of cot bumper in the high street but no seamed suitable as they only cover the top of the cot by the head and my daughter was banging her head on every side not just the top, then we discovered the 'all round' cot bumpers in the marvelous 'vertbaudet' catalogue and we have never looked back. The cot bumpers enclose the whole of the cot so no more banged and bruised head and they have added benefits too, like my daughter now cannot get her arms and legs through the bars of the cot so there's no risk of her getting them stuck of worse, and now she can't throw her dummy through the bars either and then cry for someone to pick it up. The vertbaudet cot bumpers were only £40 which is a marvelous price when you're looking at paying about £25-30 in the shops for one a third of the size. Cot bumpers aren't to everyone's tastes and there have been a lot of scare stories about them causing the baby to over heat but luckily my daughter is now 9 months and is past that stage, also its said you shouldn't use cot bumpers when your child is able to stand unaided as they can use them as a step to climb out of the cot but these are so deep that when my daughter starts to stand on her own she won't be able to get her foot up high enough. These type of cot bumpers are almost standard in the US so why don't more manufacturers sell them over here? Im sure there's a big market for them.
I was recently issued a visa Electron debit card by LlotdsTSB, great I thought at last I can use a card and not worry about carrying cash around with me and as it is a debit card and as the info that came with the card says your account balance is checked everytime you use it then there is no chance to over spend ...even better. I was wrong I've had the damn card a few weeks now and ive yet to find a retailer that actually taked the thing ,oh everyone takes Switch ,Delta and a few even take Solo but I'll be dammned if I can find anyone that will accet this, its so inconvenient ,what do the retailers have against it. You really would have thought that a big name like'visa' would be more recognisable wouldn't you . Its just a waste of plastic and paper. If your bank offers you one then forget it ,its not worth it hold out for a switch card.
