I am over 50, happily married for 29 years to Heather, with 3 children.
Born in Barry, South Wales, I graduated in Chemistry from Birmingham University and then worked in Matlock, Derbyshire where I met Heather.
We moved down to London in 1973/4 and stayed for 7 years, before relocating to Edinburgh in 1980/81.
Our daughters and son have all finished University. Daughters are working - one now as a Chartered Accountant, the other as Head of Science for a thriving Biotech. company. They share the flat in Marchmont in Edinburgh that we bought for University accomodation of our elder daughter and son. Our son has just graduated in Mechanical Engineering.
Elder daughter & son are keen fiddle players.
I worked in local government for almost 30 years in the Public Analyst service, opting for early retirement at Local Government Reorganisation in Scotland in 1996. Now I enjoy being a Consultant in Laboratory Quality Systems. Operating from home, Heather is my administrator and partner (in more ways than one !). This involves travelling in the UK and abroad.
I enjoy good food, wine, malt whisky, a wide range of music, finding good bargains, tinkering with cars and arguing (!).
My favourite part of DooYoo is writing comments - spending far more time writing comments than writing opinions!
Being one of those WYSIWYG type of people, I can be outspoken. Sorry if I upset anyone (as I have those who have given my reviews an 'NU' rating !), but I believe in speaking (or writing) what is in my mind. If this upsets/annoys you in any way, just aim a sharp word or a kick in my direction. The family do it all the time !
I will not mind. I might even apologise. It's OK - you see, I really feel no pain.
