*** GRAND THEFT AUTO V *** Grand Theft Auto is a game which is only suitable for adults because it contains so much offensive stuff for the younger gamers. However it also contains things that even adults might find offensive on so many levels. Grand Theft Auto also known as GTA is an open world action adventure game developed by Rockstar North and published by Rockstar Games who have brought us so many open world games such as previous GTA games, Red Dead games, L.A. Noire, Bully and other open world games. They are also the masterminds behind the ever so popular Max Payne series. However, there most notable games are the GTA ones and so here is GTA V. Grand Theft Auto V is currently available for the Xbox 360 and PS3. It is also scheduled for release on the 22nd of November 2013 for the PC. This is the first GTA that features three different but unique, in their own way playable characters. It will also be the first GTA game that will be fully functional for online open world gaming but will only allow 16 players in one world at any one time but could change in the near future. *** STORY *** The start of the game opens up with two of the lead characters for the game, Michael and Trevor coordinate a bank heist with two random character. In the mass of the heist the two random characters are killed and Michael himself is presumed dead. Trevor makes his escape but seemingly a bit upset because he and Michael have been friends for years. The game then starts properly 9 years on with Michael who is actually alive but has been placed in witness protection along with his wife, daughter and son. The third character you play in the game is Franklin, who works with his friend Lamar for a dodgy car dealership. His boss gives Franklin a mission to take a car from Michael's son Jimmy. This ultimately leads to Michael and Franklin being friends. Shortly after these two become friends Michael, Franklin and a few hired helpers rob a jewellery store, this news spreads and Trevor hears about it, who then realises that it is his old buddy Michael. Trevor comes to visit and this is where the three characters join forces but things spiral out of control completely. Now the three must work together on numerous missions doing numerous objectives such as heists, taking people down or even doing solo missions. Michael isn't best pleased about Trevor reappearing because he knows just how crazy he is, this turns Michael into a crazy guy himself. The choices you make towards the end of the story lead to different endings. *** GAMEPLAY *** This is one of the most fulfilled Grand Theft Auto games I have ever played, it is just jam packed with missions, games or other activities. There are around 500 mission in the game which include doing things such as stealing certain vehicles, killing certain targets, finding celebrities and taking those exposed photographs of them doing the wrong things, plus a lot of other missions. This isn't all there is because you can now go and have a friendly game of golf against computerised characters, play darts, tennis or you can even do your very own triathlon. I noticed with this GTA that there is a nice mix of everything in it, from driving, shooting or even flying. The fact is this game is one of the most action packed games of all time and there is just endless possibilities. One of the best features for me was the fact that you could change between the three character at pretty much any time you wanted just by pressing a button. These three characters also have their own unique abilities such as Trevor being a dab-hander with the guns, he will deal twice as much damage to enemies while taking half as much in combat, Franklin has the ability to slow down time whilst driving to manoeuvre around bends even better or weave in between traffic without crashing and Michael has the ability to enter bullet time in combat. All these skills come into play. Speaking of skills each character has their own unique set and level of 8 different skills such as driving, flying, stamina, shooting and more. They level up the more you do the stuff required in order to level up. Another big part for me is the multiple places you can visit and do stuff such as the strip club and get private dances from the dancers, go to a clothes shop and buy your characters a brand new outfit no matter how weird it is or even go and give them a new haircut, beard or even a tattoo. That isn't all you can do either, you can go online shopping in the game using each characters mobile phone and you can order things such as cars, bikes, mountain biles too, army vehicles, planes, helicopters and even boats. With cars you can visit the shop and customise it to a certain extent by adding new tires, side skirts, bumpers or even spoilers. You can also add others bit as well to make you vehicle unique or even more powerful. There are more weapons on this GTA game than any other GTA game with melee weapons, guns, grenades, weapons, explosives and more. You can also run, walk, swim, jump, use vehicles or even parachute if need be. The list is endless and the game never gets boring. Also the characters have their own mobile phones which can be used for multiple things such as hanging out with friends, online shopping, buying shares in businesses to earn you some cash and also a lot more. The damage is more realistic in this game as well because a simple headshot can kill you instantly and you can kill your enemies the same way. The action has been improved considerably in my opinion with much better gameplay mechanics. The game is still a massive open world and in fact is one of the biggest of the GTA series. The games setting takes place mostly in the fictional state of San Andreas but in one city called Los Santos. The game is that open that you can basically steal a car and drive anywhere you want to right from the get go. Also whilst you're driving you can listen to numerous radio stations all full with different kind of music for fans of different genres. The music in the game is great with artists like Queen, Rihanna, Britney Spears, Phil Collins, Elton John, All Saints, Amerie, Pet Shop Boys and more. There are also numerous ammunations around Los Santos and some of them have shooting ranges which you can practice your shooting with different challenges. There really is so much to do and available now is the GTA Online feature which allows you to create a character and do all of that but online with friends or other online games. You can even do more such as buy a house with a garage. You can buy cars customise them and race other people online. The fact is with GTA Online there are no rules. You can go around killing other online members, take on numerous missions with friends or alone. There is survival mode in which you and three other players team up to battles 10 waves of enemies, team deathmatch or single played deathmatch, last man standing, races online which can include bikes, cars, customised vehicles, boats and even planes. Also you can do parachute missions against other online players, the list is endless. This is by far the best GTA game out there, its a little buggy but that is to be expected with a game of this magnitude. *** GRAPHICS & SOUND EFFECTS *** The graphics to Grand Theft Auto V are the best I have seen for any Grand Theft Auto game. They are a step above the previous game. Some of the scenery to this game is the best I have seen for any game. Its such a beautifully designed game from every aspect possible. The characters are designed with such detail, there facial expressions are very important and I feel the developers got it spot on. The cars are also designed to perfection, the way they get damaged is inspirational for this game. I remember seeing the Grand Theft Auto IV graphics and being surprised but GTA V is so much better that it reminds me of the next gen already. The video animations are amazing and really do the game justice. The rest of the graphics in this game are great from buildings looking so real, civilians actually looking like civilians now and the water is impressive too. The game has a great weather system which changes frequently and I think this adds a sense of realism about the game as well. Now the sound effects for Grand Theft Auto V are a lot better than previous GTA games. I found the action sound effects to really come to life more and it definitely helped me enjoy the game more. The voice acting is absolutely brilliant with the three main characters really outshining everyone else. The soundtrack is great but I do feel more songs and a wider variety would of benefited the game more. All the cars have their own sound effect when driving, the damage sound effects are more serious. Overall its a fantastic game full with more sound effects and clearer ones too. One part of the sound effects that became a bit weak was in online mode, at times there would be glitches in the sound which would make it sound a little distorted. That being said, that was more early on rather than now. Rockstar have sorted out most of the bugs the game had. *** DIFFICULTY & LONGEVITY *** The game can be difficult but it really depends on numerous factors. I feel the story mode was probably the easiest part of the game, the main missions were quite easy but they were a lot longer than the other missions the game has. You can choose your difficulty for some things such as playing tennis and golf. The side missions seemed to have a bit of a harder difficulty to them but the good thing is, that if you fail, you are immediately taken back to the last checkpoint which will only be a couple of minutes away if that. There are certain things you can do to make the game easier such as buying stronger weapons or even buying better armour than you have. The higher armour you have the less damage enemies will do to you, because the game has a lot of action the damage you take does play a massive part of the difficulty. The missions in online play are mixed, you choose the difficulty but I didn't notice much difference to be honest. The length of the game is great. There is so much you can do and its like the game has two games in one. Online will last a lifetime and the main game mode will last months as well. *** PROS *** *The story missions alone are massive, diverse and a lot of fun to play, also the variety in them is great. *There are a lot of side missions and you can play golf, tennis, darts or even do races and arm wrestling. *Such a beautiful game in terms of graphics, the scenery is breathtaking at times and is definitely one of the most beautiful games out there. *The new action gameplay features are amazing, the weather changes are superb and the game overall is amazing. *The online play is absolutely brilliant, one of the most fun filled games out there to date. *** CONS *** *Could be better radio stations, I found some of them a bit boring and they seemed to repeat a lot of songs. *It does have quite a few glitches, the online play in particular is full of glitches but Rockstar are working on them. *Its so addictive and time seems to fly when playing this game. *** FINAL THOUGHT *** So Grand Theft Auto V has broken numerous records which include sales in 24 hours for any entertainment product including feature films. This is one game I can say that everyone will enjoy if you're a gamer. There really is so much you can do on it and its almost realistic to some extent. If you loved the older GTA games then you will love this. I haven't seen a single bad review on this game and that is very rare. Its got a great mix of shooting, driving and other action sequences. One thing that pleased me a lot about this GTA is how funny it actually is. Now previous games have been hilarious but this one is a step above the rest in my opinion. There aren't many bad things about this game but the online play does need a bit of work done to it for it to stand out even more. Grand Theft Auto V is an 18+ game because it does have a lot of violence, drug use, blood, strong language and more. Its not a game suitable for kids at all. I would recommend the game for sure, I cant imagine any game being as good as this for a long time to come. Grand Theft Auto V is so impressive that I would give it a perfect 10/10! *** PRICE *** The price of this GTA V is currently between £30 and £40 for a standard copy of the game but there is also other editions out there for a lot more. I feel the normal version of the game is worthy of its money and you don't really need the others. Review may appear on Ciao under my username: MrBrightside1987
(Film only review) == And Soon The Darkness == Stephanie (Amber Heard) and her best friend Ellie (Odette Yustman) are two young American girls who have taken a bit of time from there everyday lives to of travelled through Argentina to see the sites and the luxuries of the country. Whilst they are there they decide to travel around on mountain bikes to get a better view of the place and to see what they have on there list. One night Ellie persuades Stephanie to go out to a bar, now Stephanie isn't all that keen because she thinks they may get too carried away and not get up in time for their early morning bus which is also the last one for a while that leaves this place. During the night out the girls meet an Argentinian guy, whom at first seem really sweet but after Stephanie had gone home, later that night Ellie turns up with the guy she met on the night out and because she turned him down things get a little heated between them and he ends up going ballistic. He starts ramming on the door, shouting and screaming (somehow he knocks the girls alarm clock out the plug socket...no idea how after all he is outside the apartment). Michael (Karl Urban) is staying next door to the girls and confronts the Argentinian guy and makes him go away. The next morning arrives and the girls wake up late because the alarm clock had been unplugged, they try catching the bus but miss it. So they decide to do something and go to where there is a little lake and a place to lay in the sun. The girls end up getting into a bit of an argument and Stephanie leaves Ellie there and goes off to do her own thing. A little time passes and the girls make up via text message and arrange to meet at a place back in town where they can have dinner, upon arriving Stephanie realizes things aren't right and she decides to go to the lake where Ellie was, the only problem is Ellie is gone...no where to be seen, all that's left is her mobile, which is near some substance that looks a lot like blood. Question is where is Ellie? Stephanie now has to find out what has happened to her best friend. There is a lot of suspense in this movie and a fair few surprises, this isn't the whole plot its the basic of it, you're going to have to buy it if you want to know what happens. Question asked, is it worth buying? read on! === Did You Enjoy It === Yeah I liked some parts of the movie but the main reason I liked it was the fact Amber Heard was in it, she's beautiful, talented and my dream girl. It was also a suspense thriller movie that always kept me on edge and always made me keep thinking what was going to happen next. By all means this is basically where the good stuff about the movie ended in my opinion. All though the story of the movie was actually quite good and did make quite a lot of sense unlike most horror thriller movies, which make very little sense and sometimes you can get lost half way through, with this one its actually quite understandable and makes much more sense than most films. But I am afraid to say that is literally the end of the good stuff about the movie. I did quite enjoy it as I enjoy just about all movies, especially with Amber Heard in but I really wouldn't expect other people to enjoy this movie so much. Its quite a lot like A Perfect Getaway with Milla Jovovich, Timothy Olyphant and Steve Zahn but this movie is no way near as good or as bizarre as A Perfect Getaway. All in all if you're a huge fan of Amber Heard or if you're a mega fan of thriller/horror/crazy movies then you might actually like this, if not I would recommend you avoid it as you wont enjoy it whatsoever. === Characters/Performances === Now I will be a little bias and say that Amber Heard is amazing as always but to be honest she actually wasn't. Other than looking rather good in the movie, she gives a mediocre performance that I wasn't really used too from her. Amber plays the lead role in the movie as the character Stephanie, she has also been in many films before this and has done a far better job acting wise. I thought she was absolutely fantastic in The Stepfather and that is one of my best films ever! Also she was quite good in The Informers but wont go into detail about that movie. She just wasn't great in this film. Now Karl Urban who plays as Michael in the movie is actually not too shabby and he is in actual fact an award winning actor. He gives the vibe of a hard act yet quite sensitive character in the movie. Karl has been in many top movies such as Star Trek, The Chronicles Of Riddick, Doom and most notably The Lord Of The Rings franchise. Now the other actors/actresses are just plain and not that notable. So I'm just going to cut this part short and say it was deeply uninspiring. The cast isn't great and their performances went down the same road. === Other Bits === The basic story of the movie is a quite simple storyline but it is the movies best, if not only good quality part about it. Although the movie isn't up to high standards it doesn't really make you lose track through the whole of it and it is actually a rather riveting plot and you will be constantly on edge trying to work out what is going to happen next. Although this is mainly the best part of the movie it really needs a lot more than just a good storyline, it is really let down by many other aspects of the movie. The special effects are really weak, there is basically none throughout the whole movie and when there is a glimmer of hope, of actually seeing something...you get absolutely nothing. Now another major let down of the movie is the soundtrack! It is absolutely rubbish. The songs just don't go with their respected scenes and it really just fails big time in this department. I always expect some nice on edge kind of music to these films and at times with the soundtrack to this I thought it was going to be a happy kind of movie with a little bit of comedy added in there somewhere. I really wasn't expecting such a dull and bland soundtrack to a thriller movie and this disappointed me the most about the movie. it was a huge let down, it would of got a slightly better rating if it had even just at least one chilling song that would make you feel more suspense...but yet again...nothing. Another thing I don't really want to waste much time mentioning was the director of the movie. The directors name is Marcos Efron and this is literally his best movie ever and probably his last. the only other work he has done is short movies which in my eyes are a complete waste of time and effort. Now there are a fair few of these types of movies and i am usually a big fan of these genres, that's why I couldn't wait to watch this. There are loads of them from A Perfect Getaway to movies like Joy Ride or Road Kill which ever you want to call it starring Paul Walker and Steve Zahn, also there is my personal favourite The Hitcher with Sophia Bush and Sean Bean, plus there is also the older hitcher movies. All in all there is plenty of these films out there but some are just not worth bothering with, like this. === Value For Money? === Dear oh dear! To be honest the only way this would be value for money is if you was getting paid to watch it, otherwise its not worth buying. Don't get me wrong its not the worst movie in the entire world but it is a million miles away from being even close to the best. the story is good and Amber Heard is nice but other than that I cant say its worth spending some money on. There is way to many flaws to say its value for money, however...like I said if like me you're a thriller/horror fanatic you might actually think this movie is worth watching and maybe even worth owning. All in all it can be worth buying but it all depends if this movie is for you. === Final Thought === I would watch it again, maybe a few decades down the line but for two reasons, Amber Heard and the story. Other than that its not up to scratch with the modern day thriller movies and just doesn't has what it takes. If you like thriller movies watch it, if you're not a big fan then avoid it. I would give this movie a miserable 4/10! The runtime for the movie is roughly 91 minutes and the movie is also a certificate 15 probably not suitable for the younger viewers due to strong language and violence throughout, and also probably not suitable for many other people due to lack of a top movie! (Film only review) == Battle Los Angeles == Right I'm going to start by saying this has to be one of my best movies ever. Battle Los Angeles is obviously set in Los Angeles and for the people that didn't know this is an alien invasion movie that doesn't disappoint. The date is 11th August 2011 and what appears to be meteorites crashing into the ocean soon turn out to be in fact spacecrafts containing hostile alien troops. U.S Marines are called in to fight against the ground alien life forms and to assist in the evacuation of remaining civilians if there are any. The only thing is that the Marines only have a certain amount of time to do their mission because the whole of Los Angeles is about to be wiped out completely just to get rid of the threat of alien life form. SSgt. Michael Nantz (Aaron Eckhart) is assigned to this platoon straight away when the so called meteorites start hitting the shores around Los Angeles and other major cities, however SSgt. Michael Nantz had led his own platoon back in Iraq and had suffered so many casualties in an incident that was supposedly Nantz's fault, that's what the other Marines in this platoon are led to believe and they are really cautious with this guy at first. One of the Marines that was killed back in Iraq was the brother of one of the guys he has to lead on this dangerous potential world ending mission. On the mission they meet several survivors who are in dire need for someone to help them. Can they group together and beat the aliens and put an end to this apocalyptic takeover! The basic story to this is pretty damn good but but it is over the top just a little. I will tell you something it is an absolutely fantastic movie in my eyes and i loved every minute of it. === Did You Enjoy It? === Oh yes, I loved it. Its not like your normal alien invasion type of movie, say like War Of The Worlds and it does have that war feeling like an average war film. I cannot describe how much this movie has impressed me but I can say I will most definitely go see this again. Everything about it basically took my breath away. The special effects were brilliant, the acting was pretty good except for maybe Ne-Yo (the singer) he wasn't really that inspiring and didn't really seem right in the movie. Also I thought the story made sense but you don't really see how the meteorites/aliens come to be heading to earth the movie starts with action and ends with it. It basically starts with meteorites hitting the cities straight away so they wasted no time there. I thought this movie had the best ending I have seen to a movie, I wont spoil it but its a must see just for that and it made me enjoy it even more. I seriously cant get enough of this film and soon as its on dvd its going in my collection because it is really enjoyable, its really shocking, action packed, very emotional and at times almost real. Well worth seeing because its really fun. === Special Effects === Now I have moved this category up a few spaces because these were simply brilliant and they made the movie. Lots and lots of effects that make Inception look like an average movie. I was blown away when I seen the special effects of Inception but when I seen the special effects for Battle Los Angeles, they left me breathless and wanting more more more. The meteorites looked life like and when they was hitting the city it looked at times sort of fake but when I thought about it, the more it was realistic and also when the people were running for their lives and getting blown up in all kinds of ways it felt real, it felt like I was there or wanted to be there to help. It was crazy especially in the cinema with sound full blast and hearing the explosions. I really cant get over the fact how brilliant the special effects were and how awesome the movie is. Another thing about the special effects that impressed me was the buildings getting blown up and smashed to pieces (these aliens are not to be messed with). The design of the alien ships and the aliens them selves were different to what i have seen so I can kinda say that made the movie slightly better as most the times they judge aliens to look the same when we really don't know. So all in all if you're a fan of special effects you will be a fan of this movie as they're used throughout the whole of it. The special effects were possibly the best thing about the movie in my opinion. Looked magnificent, unique and damn right cool. === Soundtrack === I was actually quite surprised at the soundtrack to Battle Los Angeles, it didn't really have many well known tracks in the movie but the first song on the film when it was leading up to the attack was used brilliantly and it was 2pac California Love the rest of the soundtrack was all composed by Brian Tyler. Every time there was suspense in the movie the music started and kept me on edge throughout. Literally every scene where there was a track used it basically fitted in perfectly. I have only rated the soundtrack good however and this is because it could of done with some more popular songs to go in the movie. Other than that it was perfect and the sound to the movie was even better! === Characters/Performances === To be perfectly honest I hadn't heard of half the people in this movie and I thought at first it was going to be another flop like Skyline with the rubbish acting in that but I was wrong yet again (I have to stop judging these movies before I see them). Now Aaron Eckhart in my opinion was magnificent as the lead role and led the cast well straight from the top, I was very impressed with him, brilliant. Ramon Rodriguez who played 2nd Lt. William Martinez and had a very vital role he was basically the leader of the platoon until something happens but he was great as well, gave a top performance and I hadn't heard of him before but he did brilliant so I may check more of his acting work out. The other actors/actresses I was extremely pleased with was Cory Hardrict, Gino Anthony Pesi, James Hiroyuki Liao, Bridget Moynahan, Michelle Rodriguez and finally Bryce Cass who played as Hector, now this young boy is one to look for in the future he was absolutely magnificent at such a young age he gave everything and his future looks bright. He brings sorrow and sadness to life brilliantly and it almost brought a tear to my eye and I have never cried at any movie in my life, the closest I came up until now was I Am Legend with the poor dog but this was really sad but also great for the movie. All in all the cast and the performance of the cast was tremendous. === Director === The director of Battle Los Angeles is actually someone whom I have grown to respect an awful lot, this guy has done lots of things to be proud of and this movie is one of them. His name is Jonathan Liebesman and he was born September 15th, 1976 in Johannesburg, South Africa and he hasn't really directed too many movies but he has directed a few I have enjoyed quite well. He was the director of the 2006 movie The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning and also Darkness Falls which I believe was an underrated movie. All in all this is by far his best piece of work and apparently he is doing the follow up to Clash Of The Titans which is to be called Wrath Of The Titans, which I cant wait for! === How Does It Compare To Similar Films? === By far the best of its genre, by a million miles to me. However there are loads of movies of its kind and I am pretty sure there will be many more to come but I think its going to take a good few years to beat this one. A few other movies of its kind are War Of The Worlds which stars obviously Tom Cruise and there is actually a second one of that movie but it is seriously rubbish. There is also Skyline which isn't a great movie in my eyes and Battle Los Angeles is a far better movie than that. Also its a bit like Independence Day, sort of and I actually love that film but believe this to be better. There are endless amounts of these alien movies but you don't see too many with the Marines in so its quite different in many ways. === Value For Money? === Without a doubt this movie is totally value for money. I went to the cinema to watch this about dinner time and it only cost me £4! I even asked after they told me the price if they had made a mistake but apparently its cheaper around dinner time than it is at tea time or late evening. For £4 you're getting to see a brilliant movie that has everything you could ask for in a film. I believe it to be value for money for many reason as I have said throughout my review and I am hoping to go see it again sometime next week when I get to see my best friend as he leaves the army then and I cant wait! I would recommend you go watch this at the cinema, its cheap and you get the full feel and the full effect of the cinema surround sound, its brilliant! Cant say any more. === Runtime And Certificate === Now the runtime of the movie was quite long but to be honest it seemed to go really fast and before I knew it the credits were rolling. The runtime is 116 minutes and its very reasonable. The certificate of the movie is a 12A and in some parts I think it should be an 18 it is seriously shocking and may upset the younger viewers, it did kind of get to me a little. Thanks for reading my review :) Review also on Ciao under username: MrBrightside1987
(Film only review) == The Dilemma == Ronny (Vince Vaughan) and Nick (Kevin James) are two best friends and have been best friends since high school. Now all grown up they are both partners in an auto design firm and Nick is married to Geneva (Winona Ryder), Whilst Ronny has a girlfriend called Beth (Jennifer Connelly). The movie basically starts with all four of them at dinner. dancing and having a fun time. The couples are dancing with their own partners, but they swap and have a dance with each other, Nick dances with Beth while Ronny dances with Geneva. Geneva asks Ronny when hes going to pop the question to Beth as they all have grown to love her to bits and its about time he asked her. Ronny plans everything to propose to his girlfriend Beth and finds the perfect place, a botanical garden. Whilst there he thinks he has seen Geneva, Nick's wife and he follows her. He doesn't realize that hes just walked through some poisonous plants and the reason he doesn't notice is because he catches Geneva kissing another man (Channing Tatum). Now Ronny has a huge dilemma on his mind. How does he tell his best friend he grew up with? Does he even tell him? Or can he talk to Geneva. Watch it to find out. The Dilemma is a comedy/drama movie starring Vince Vaughan and Kevin James. Its not like other movies, because usually comedy and drama don't mix well. However in this case it does and instead of being constantly just laughs it blends with sensitivity and emotions throughout and a lot of the time the movie has to be taken seriously because thats exactly what it is. Its a movie that surprised me and is possibly one of the best I have ever seen so far to date. Its a really hilarious movie and has some brilliant one liners, but also at times it does have that dramatic effect, an example when Ronny catches Geneva and he doesn't know what to do. All in all its a fantastic story that has every emotion you can possibly think of, well worthy of a watch. === Did You Enjoy It? === It a nutshell I liked it. It is pretty decent film, the story is a story I can relate too so I did find it brilliant and it has lots of aspects to it that make it great. This has to be possibly one of the funniest movies I have ever seen, the one liners are great. Vince Vaughan is brilliant and so is Kevin James and they both do have some good chemistry working together. They both excel themselves in my opinion. I actually enjoyed the cast of the movie as well, its got a lot of well known faces in, which does always make the movie that little bit more enjoyable. There isn't too many special effects to enjoy in the movie but when there are they don't disappoint. The soundtrack is actually rather good and makes it that little better as well, all in all it was a very enjoyable movie that I would definitely recommend and I would also definitely would watch this again, and its going to be added to my DVD collection, a top film very enjoyable. === How Does It Compare To Similar Films? === There are plenty, if not millions of comedy films but in my 24 years of life I haven't came across too many comedy movies that have a fair bit of drama in it. Plus The Dilemma has a lot of emotions throughout like, anger and sadness. I would say this is by far one of the best movies of its genre and has absolutely tons going for itself. The Dilemma is quite a bit like Hall Pass which stars Owen Wilson and it is also slightly like Dodge Ball which also has Vince Vaughan in it. There are many other films a bit like this some of which are, a lot of Adam Sandler movies. However this is one of the funniest and one of the most dramatic movies all rolled into one. Its a quality movie and in my eyes one of the best of its kind, if not all movies. It was brilliant. === Characters/Performances === When I first new who was going to be in The Dilemma I was actually really looking forward to seeing it because I do like Vince Vaughan and I am a big fan of his movies. To me hes a terrific actor, really funny and just a down to earth guy. I was however quite surprised that Kevin James was going to be in the movie but I did think he would be quite good and when I watched it I wasn't disappointed and my instincts were right. The biggest surprise to me was that Channing Tatum was in the movie playing a crazy character role, a bit of a psycho but all the time also being actually rather dumb and to be fair he plays it really well and did surprise me an awful lot. Winona Ryder was her usual self, smart, funny (at times) and rather mischievous but she too was really good. Jennifer Connelly was great playing Vince Vaughan's girlfriend in the movie. The rest of the main cast were as follows, Queen Latifah, Chelcie Ross, Amy Morton, Clint Howard and Talulah Riley. The performances of each cast member were pretty much different in my opinion. Vince Vaughan was his usual self and did a tremendous job, he was funny, very witty and at times very serious. This role suits him best. Kevin James was brilliant, he was really funny and at times carried Vince Vaughan but only at times. Winona and Jennifer were equally as good but the biggest surprise would have to be Channing Tatum, he really did impress me. Simply a fantastic cast, perfect to me. === The Director === The director of The Dilemma is a guy named Ron Howard and he is no stranger to the film industry. Ron Howard was born March 1st, 1954 in Duncan, Oklahoma, USA. Before becoming a very well known director through the film industry, he was in fact an actor and has been in many many movies and other bits like tv shows and documentaries. Ron Howard has been in movies such as the 1973 movie Happy Mother's Day, Love George and also, The Spikes Gang and most recently Return to Mayberry. He has been in many TV shows and a lot of them a very well known. Some of these include, Frasier, M.A.S.H, Happy Days and many more. He has also directed oads of movies and some are pretty well known as well. These include, Angels & Demons, The Da Vinci Code, Frost/Nixon, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Apollo 13, Gung Ho, Night Shift, Ransom and loads more, they are just some of his better ones. However I would have to say The Dilemma is by far his best work as its completely different to anything hes done before and far better as well. === The Soundtrack === I was quite thrilled when I first laid my eyes on the soundtrack to The Dilemma and I did actually think from the soundtrack that the movie would be quite a big hit. The soundtrack isn't just plain its different in terms of genre and there is a lot of variety played in different scenes. The movie does have that feel factor to it that makes it that so much enjoyable in terms of music. However I didn't like all the songs that were in the movie and some were just not needed to be fair. Some of the songs in the movie came from artists such as Kiss, Damien Jurado, The Black Keys, The Fratellis, Wolfmother, Neon Plastix and a lot more. === Value For Money? === It is the best movie money can possibly buy right now. I watched this at the cinema and loved it, you get the proper feel factor from the cinema, its almost like your in the movie. It was intense and brilliant and very funny all at the same time. A perfect masterclass that is by far value for money. For the little amount you pay at cinema (without the popcorn and other bits because the price of them is just ridiculous. Me and my best friend always sneak our own food and drink in) you do get your value for money as its a very smart film that utilizes all its potential. I would go see this again at the cinema because I loved it that much and I am sure if your a fan of comedy films, or films with a great story or even movies that have drama then this is for you at such value for money. Well worth seeing. === Other Bits === Special effects in the movie are a bit weak and probably not worth much of a mention but at times it does have some decent looking effects that some viewers might enjoy. Also the movie is a 12+ certificate and does have some slightly strong language and violence in it and a fair few sad scenes that some viewers may not like or find offensive. The runtime of the movie The Dilemma was something I was quite surprised by and actually rather thrilled because these kind of movies have a very weak runtime and are over before you even sit down and get comfy in the cinema. The runtime of it was 111 minutes which was surprising but a good surprise but some people may think its too long, to me it was just about right. If you like comedy movies then go watch this, if your a fan of some intense drama then this is also for you, if your a Vince Vaughan fan then you will love this because I would say its some of his best work. All in all a fantastically funny movie, with a great storyline and a surprisingly good cast. Also has a good soundtrack as stated above and I would have to give this movie a very solid and almost perfect 9/10! Fantastic movie! This review is on Ciao under the username: MrBrightside1987! (Film only review) == The Chaperone == The Chaperone is a 2011 family comedy movie developed by WWE Studios and it stars WWE superstar Triple H (Paul Levesque) as The Chaperone. As most of you know I am a huge WWE fan and I am also a massive fan of the WWE movies that they make. I do however feel the WWE films get criticized a bit too much. A good thing about the WWE films is the fact that the cast isn't usually well known but they seem to pull off the job and its no different in The Chaperone. The Chaperone also stars Ariel Winter as the daughter of Triple H. The basic story of the movie seems a little plain and ordinary but you have to remember it is aimed at the younger audience and in my opinion it has a very good storyline to the film. The movie starts with a normal but more muscular guy in prison. He looks rough and scruffy and its the day of his release and he intends on going to see his daughter and his ex wife. The thing is Ray (Triple H) hasn't seen them in 7 long years. After being released he meets an old associate who was involved in Ray being sent to prison. The pair of them, along with a few others had robbed a bank and Ray was actually the getaway driver and Phillip Larue (Kevin Corrigan) was the reason Ray got sent down. Larue meets up with Ray soon as he leaves the prison facility and offers him a ride. Ray tells him to move because he wants to drive and Ray actually drives off in his car leaving him there. The next day Ray goes to meet his daughter who has aged so quickly to him and he feels sad because he missed a huge part of her life. Ray feels he's a much better person now after speaking with and taking Dr. Marjore's advice (she has her own radio show). When Ray arrives he is greeted really badly at first by his ex wife and then by his daughter Sally (Ariel Winter) who basically tells him she doesn't want to know him. Ray doesn't give in but he is then contacted by Laure again who mentions about going to rob another bank. Ray reluctantly agrees to be the getaway driver again and he only agrees to it because he thinks his daughter hates him. Laure and his two goons go into the bank wearing some silly but rather funny masks and whilst they are in there robbing the place Ray is sat in the car. He notices Sally getting on a school bus that's going on a trip. He jumps on after ditching the keys to the car and leaving the criminals in the bank. Ray agrees to Chaperone the kids on the bus (hense the name of the film) but Sally isn't happy at first. After coming out of the bank with the money and noticing Ray has vanished the group of crooks decide to split up because the police are on to them. One of them bumps into the bus driver as he is putting the luggage onto the bus and he leaves the bag of money. The driver doesn't realize and puts it on the bus. Now the film begins properly as Ray wants to build a relationship with his only child. However that could become a problem because Ray doesn't realise that there is a bag full of money on the bus too, in which the crooks want desperately and will stop at nothing to get it. Can Ray do the right thing? Is it too late for him and his daughter to become close? Find out by watching The Chaperone. === Did You Enjoy It? === Yeah I loved the movie. As I stated I have always loved the WWE movies even though some aren't very good. I'm a fan, its in my blood. This one I do feel is different to most of the WWE films. Usually WWE Studios make action movies but the last couple have been comedy movies for kids. Knucklehead which stars The Big Show and of course this one starring Triple H. I did feel the movies storyline was quite plain and I do think the movie was predictable all the way through it. However this doesn't necessarily mean its a rubbish movie because its not. I found the movie to be very funny to be perfectly honest and I don't usually find kids film that entertaining any more. One of the best things about these WWE movies is seeing our favourite WWE superstars starring in them and doing roles we probably wouldn't dream of them doing. Big Show wearing an over grown diaper and Triple H being a chaperone to a bunch of kids. The Chaperone has some very hilarious one liners and it also has some scenes that had me laughing for a while. I did enjoy the movie more because its Triple H. One of my all time favourite wrestlers and even though he didn't really inspire or shine in Blade Trinity he does pull this one off. I do feel its more of a family film than a movie for someone like me who doesn't have anyone to watch them with but I did still like it. Overall its funny, has some great action scenes and was really enjoyable. === Characters/Performances === Triple H is the main star in the movie and he takes the role as Ray (Ray-Ray is his crook name) who has just been released from prison and wants to turn his life around and get back whats important to him. Triple H plays this role really well and to be fair before this movie I had Triple H down as a very poor actor but this role was perfect for him and he excelled himself and he shined brilliantly. Sally who is played by the very young actress Ariel Winter is a great character to the movie. She is the daughter of Ray and shes the type of character that can bring the movie to life. I really think she could be an actress to look out for in the future because in this she was phenomenal. Most of the characters in the movie were really good but I did feel like the crooks were a little weak. They didn't look at all much like crooks and Triple H probably could eat them for breakfast. Laure who is played by Kevin Corrigan who is fairly well known throughout the industry does pretty well and he plays the lead crook. Now he isn't too bad as a crook but a leader? I just don't see it. I did feel like the rest of the cast were very respectable and I also believe this to be one of the movies strong points as they all did a fine job. === The Director === The director of the movie The Chaperone is a man named Stephen Herek who was born November 10th, 1958 in San Antonio, Texas, USA. The Chaperone, I feel is by far one of the best movies he has directed and worked with. Its one of the funniest and definitely one aimed at the younger viewers and I feel he has achieved what he wanted to achieve with this movie. Stephen Herek has directed a few other movies and some of these include the legendary Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure and others such as Critters,101 Dalmatians, Rock Star, The Three Musketeers, Into the Blue 2: The Reef and quite a few others. Overall I think he has done a tremendous job of directing the movie and I believe he hasn't got much wrong with it. === Special Effects & Soundtrack === The special effects to the movie actually surprised me the most. I actually didn't think there would be much in terms of effects but there was actually more than I thought. Some of the action scenes are brilliantly designed and do make the movie even better. There are a fair few fighting scenes, when I say fighting I mean a punch here and there. These scenes actually looked good, almost wrestling like. The special effects to the movie aren't the best ever but for a family comedy movie starring a WWE superstar I feel they are pretty good. The soundtrack to The Chaperone was actually a very interesting one. Some of the songs used in the scenes were great. Some are songs I actually listen to and it made me enjoy the movie even more. I always like a movie more when they use the songs I love. The tracks used in the movie fit perfectly into each scene they are used in and I feel this made the movie great as well. Overall the special effects in the movie and some of the action sequences were quite good and the sound track was equally impressive and I feel these actually helped the movie in the long run. === Good Bits === *A very funny movie in places. *Some great performances and a wide range of actors and actresses. *A film the whole family can watch. *A very enjoyable movie for almost everyone. *Some good action scenes for a comedy movie. === Bad Bits === *The basic story of the movie has been used before. *The movie is very predictable all the way through it. *Its mainly aimed at kids but it is still a good movie and kids will love it. *There is lots of stuff to the story and it drags on a little. === Final Bits === The Chaperone is a great movie and to be fair I have seen many reviews slating the movie and heard many people saying its rubbish. I however loved it. Its a very funny movie and at times can be taken very seriously. The movie has a lot to offer and fans of the WWE Studio movies will absolutely adore this. There are many movies like this but I do feel its one of the best of its kind. I loved the fact its got Triple H in it and I believe he did a great job along with his fellow actors/actresses and I did enjoy it more with him. I would recommend this to almost anybody. It has tons to offer and I also believe it would be great to watch with your family. The Chaperone is possibly one of the best WWE Studio movies and I cant wait for more to come. The movie is actually harder to find in the UK but it is possible. Amazon are selling the DVD for £9.99 and I do think its value for money because its a superb film and kids will love it. The Chaperone has a UK certificate of PG and it contains mild language and violence and I do feel this is right. The runtime to the movie is 104 minutes and I think that is almost perfect although I was really enjoying it until it finished. Overall I loved the movie apart from a few little bits and one of those was the fact it was way to predictable. However overall it made me laugh, had some great scenes in it and some quality acting in places and I feel Triple H has done really well. I would give The Chaperone a very solid 7/10 well worth watching or better yet owning! Review will also appear on Ciao under my username: MrBrightside1987!
== DORITOS CRASH COURSE == Doritos Crash Course is a 2D platforming advergame for the Xbox 360. The game is an Xbox Live Arcade game but it doesn't cost a single penny. All that is required is to have your Xbox connected to Xbox Live with an Ethernet Cable and you need gold membership to download it. The game was developed by Wanako Games. The game doesn't feature any kind of story mode which is also fantastic because its just an arcade game to enjoy and play for free. Its fun, addictive and can have you playing for hours. === GAMEPLAY === In Doritos Crash Course the aim of the game is to get through all the leveles as quickly as possible. Your Xbox Live Avatar is who you control in the game and I think that is a fantastic idea. There are 3 worlds to complete which are USA, Europe and Japan. Each world has 5 levels to race to the end in the quickest time. The game is very much like the show Total Wipeout. You run from one end of a course to the other taking on numerous obstacles. Avoid hammers, jump platforms, slide down ramps, swing on ropes, use trampolines and much more in this exciting game. At first the game didn't really appeal to me but because it was free I decided to download it anyway and ever since I have played it almost everyday. Its the type of game that can get you really addicted especially with the online leaderboards. The quicker you finish the higher on the world leaderboard you'll be. There is also a leaderboard to see how you fair against your friends. You can try and beat them on every level to become the doritos champion. I love how the game is set up with numerous things trying to stop you. I do think the game would benefit more with a bit more variety in the obstacles and it would also benefit more with a lot more levels. As soon as I became really good at the game it took me about an hour to beat it and have all the achievements and that is a little disappointing but not forgetting its a free game. There are numerous game modes. Single player is like story mode where your awarded different medals for finishing in different times. Copper is the lowest and gold is the highest medals you can acquire. The gold are fairly tricky to get as you progress further but soon as you've gotten the hang of the game its easy enough to do. There are also a couple of other game modes. One being Xbox Live race against someone around the world and you can also race your actual friends which can be quite challenging. === GRAPHICS & SOUND EFFECTS === The graphics don't really affect the game in my opinion. They are pretty good for 2D graphics but if the game was 3D it would of been brilliant. The best thing about the graphics are your avatar because he/she is not quite 2D. The layout of the levels is okay but they do look repetitive at times and its hard to remember which level is which because of how they look. Also the backgrounds in the levels are a little disappointing and barely noticeable due to you zooming through the level as quick as possible. The sound effects on the other hand are pretty good. Every time your hit by a hammer or something else it actually sounds quite funny. The music in the game is also repetitive but it does make the game better. Its funky music and quite catchy but it might annoy some people. === DIFFICULTY & LONGEVITY === The game isn't that difficult at first but as you progress through the different worlds it does become a little harder especially to finish in a decent time to get a gold medal. The controls are very easy and you only about 3 buttons through the whole game. Some of the obstacles could also prove tricky. To start with you'll only be faced with a couple of hammers but later on there will be a lot more. My Youtube video is the second to last level in the game and you can see its harder. The younger gamers will love and adore this but it may prove a challenge later on in the game. The game isn't very long as stated. 3 worlds and 15 levels altogether is the length but the game can be played over and over again because its fun. === GOOD BITS === *Its like Total Wipeout and a lot of fun. *Suitable for anyone. *Its fast, hectic, very funny and Its FREE! *The ability to use your created avatar. === BAD BITS === *Its really addictive! *Almost impossible to get in the top ten of the online leaderboards! *Not enough levels on the game. *A couple of added bits would make the game better. === FINAL THOUGHT === Doritos Crash Course is one of the best arcade games around and not just because its free. I have had this game well over a year now and I still play it on the odd occasion. There are 12 achievements on nearly every arcade game. On this its no different and most of them are just common sense to achieve them. There are a couple that could be difficult such as completing a certain level in such a short time and it actually took me about 3 hours. Some of the jumps in the game look impossible but there actually not and you always have to think about the quickest way to finish the level. The quicker you finish the better the reward. I also think the game should have unlockables. I love this game and would seriously recommend it if you've got your Xbox 360 connected to Xbox Live because you wont be disappointed. Not many gamers know about this game because it wasn't advertised anywhere. It is suitable for all gamers especially kids. The game is hilarious and doesn't disappoint. I would give the game a 9/10! (Show only review) == JERICHO == This goes down as one of the best first season of a TV series I have ever seen. Jericho is an action/drama series that revolves around a group of townsfolk that live in the fictional town of Jericho in Kansas. Jericho is a great show and the fact that the story to the show is very intelligent and intriguing is a bonus in my opinion. I am a real sucker for a TV series with a fascinating story and Jericho features one of the best. It also has a good and solid cast who give great performances throughout the whole season. Jericho is also the type of show where every episode finishes with a cliffhanger. The only real shame about the show was the fact they only made two seasons of the show but they did create a third season but as a six-part comic book series and there are rumors of a third coming to TV so fingers crossed. === WHAT IS JERICHO ABOUT? === Jericho is about a small town of people who are really friendly and its the type of town where everybody knows everybody. Jake Green (Skeet Ulrich) is the main character in the show who actually left Jericho 5 years ago for certain reasons (which you find out later in the series). Jake comes back to his hometown of Jericho where his family, friends and his childhood sweetheart still reside. Jake is coming home to collect an inheritance that his grandfather has left after he passed away. Upon returning there is tension between Jake and his father Mayor Johnston Green (Gerald McRaney) who refuses to give Jake any of the inheritance. All this leads to Jake leaving town again but just as hes driving along a road he notices something that eventually leads him back to Jericho. It turns out that 23 major cities in the United States have been wiped out by nuclear attacks. Now Jake must stand tall and help Jericho because things are about to go from bad to worse. === DID YOU ENJOY IT? === Enjoy is an understatement because I absolutely loved this season of the show. I did think season two lost its way a little bit but season one was absolutely spot on and couldn't of been much better. Jericho was the type of series that kept me on edge throughout and the type that left me wanting more and more after each episode. I loved the cast of the series as well because it simply worked. The story is probably one of my favourite parts to season one because it had everything and involved lots of different emotions and other bits such as drama, action and even the odd comedy scenes. Also what i enjoyed was that by the end of every episode I was left wanting more and each episode nearly always finished with a cliffhanger. Everything about the show seemed to fit and its one of the best seasons that is easy to follow as well. Like most seasons it did have a few bits that could of been better but Jericho season one is the type of season that doesn't drag on in places and it just seems to get better and better with each episode. Also a good thing about this is that there isn't really another TV series like it and it has tons to offer. Definitely something I really enjoyed and would recommend to almost everyone! === CHARACTERS///CAST///PERFORMANCES === The cast I feel is actually quite good with the lead role going to a man named Skeet Ulrich who is also one of my favourite actors and has been in many other TV series and starred in many well known movies such as Scream, The Craft and quite a few more. Skeet Ulrich plays as the Jake Green in Jericho and is very solid all the way through the whole series and seems to lead the pack really well. The other cast in the show include Lennie James, Ashley Scott, Kenneth Mitchell, Brad Beyer, Pamela Reed, Gerald McRaney, Michael Gaston and many more. Pretty much all of the cast do a great job with the roles they play and most also suit the role perfectly. All of the characters in this season are very interesting to say the least because, at first you don't know too much about them but in episodes with flashbacks you grow to like them with things they have done in the past. Jake Green as the lead role is the son of Mayor Johnston Green who both fell out with each other a while back and also Jake has a brother who he loves very much and you see their love grow stronger throughout this series. Also Jake has a couple of love interest characters which keep you thinking who will he end up with? If any. A great cast and a great mix of characters with some solid performances. === THE PRODUCERS///DIRECTORS === Jericho doesn't really have one director or producer mainly because TV series usually have several throughout. The main crew for the first series include the likes of Jon Turteltaub, Stephen Chbosky, Carol Barbee and Karim Zreik as producers. To be honest you cant even notice that the series has a completely new director almost every episode because it all just seems to work and fit into place. The writers have done a fantastic job and so has everybody else. === SOUNDTRACK AND SPECIAL EFFECTS === I will start by saying the soundtrack for this season is absolutely spot on and I loved everything about it. It features some of my all time favourite songs and also features some fantastic artists. Also almost all the tracks used in this season fit the scene they were used in perfectly and definitely made it more enjoyable for me. The whole series features songs from the likes of Snow Patrol, The Killers, Third Eye Blind, Paolo Nutini, Damien Rice, Five for Fighting, Sinéad O'Connor, Muse, Coldplay, David Gray and many more. As you can see there is a wide range of different types of music used in Jericho and I do believe it has one of the best mixtures and is one of the best soundtracks overall to a season of any TV series. Also something this season features more than the second is better special effects. Season two doesn't have too many but that could be because there are only 9 episode to season two where as season one has an astonishing 22. In those 22 you get to witness some breathtaking explosions, car crashes, gun scenes and plenty more action sequences that look absolutely stunning. In my opinion Jericho certainly shines well with both a great soundtrack and some fantastic special effects! === HOW DOES IT COMPARE TO SIMILAR TV SERIES?? === First thing I have to say is that I haven't seen a TV series at all like this one. Jericho features everything from action to drama and even has you going through all kinds of emotions along with the show. I would have to say the closest TV show that I have watched (out of hundreds) that is a little bit like this is Prison Break and the main reason for that is because its full of surprises, has a fantastic story and usually every episode finishes with a shock. Also each episode is on for around the 43 minute mark and that is probably the only thing it has in common with a lot of other shows. Definitely one of a kind and something I would recommend you to check out. === PROS === *The story to Jericho is fascinating and something I haven't seen before with a show or movie. *There are a whopping 22 episodes to season one and each one is around 43 minutes in length. *The soundtrack is brilliant with a lot of great songs and well known artists. *Season one features some fantastic action scenes and some stunning special effects basically from episode one all the way to the end of the season. *Great characters played by a brilliant cast and they all give great performances too. *There is literally nothing like it. Its unique and something new and very enjoyable. === CONS === *Some of the episodes might confuse people at some point because at first there are bits that don't make much sense so you have to keep watching to learn it all. *It slightly losses its way nearer the end of the season but there's nothing majorly bad about it. *Some of the shocks in the show are very sad especially with one person who cannot be named. *The season finale could of been a little better. It was good but I expected a little more. === FINAL THOUGHT === Well Jericho definitely has to go down as one of my all time favourite TV series especially season one because it had everything. Its a massive shame that they cancelled it after season two especially with over 15 million fans of the show. The one thing that always impressed me about season one is the fact that when you think its calming down, something happens to kick up all the action again. Jericho has times where its just drama and that is also something wonderful about the show because the drama part of it is very intense and very fascinating. I would definitely recommend this season to many people especially if you like the type of disaster/terrorist drama and action series because this kinda springs up with all of that. If you're a sucker for a good storyline then look no further than Jericho because it has it all. This season does have a lot of sad scenes which some viewers may find upsetting but it really is different and absolutely brilliant. Jericho has a rated 15 certificate and each episode is roughly around 43 minutes long. This is also available on boxset and is retailing on Amazon for around £14.99 which should include postage. Its hard to find in most shops but HMV also have it but for a little bit more. Overall Jericho season one is one of my best ever seasons and I would have to give it a solid 8/10! Simply amazing. == RESIDENT EVIL REVELATIONS == Resident Evil has always been a game that I have always loved from the very first one too this one. Resident Evil Revelations is a survival horror video game. The game was published and developed by Capcom and is available PS3, 3DS, PC, Wii U as well as the Xbox 360. Resident Evil Revelations also brings back the survival horror aspect of the game and its not an all out action game now. Finally its back like the good old days of Resident Evil 2 with puzzles as well. This Resident Evil game takes place on The Queen Zenobia which is a cruise ship and a fantastic setting for this type of game. I think its one of the best places a Resident Evil game has taken place. Also this game is set after Resident Evil 4 but before Resident Evil 5. === STORY === As stated the game takes place aboard the Queen Zenobia. The two main character you are in this game are Jill Valentine and Chris Redfield. Jill and Parker (her teammate) are sent to the Queen Zenobia in search of Chris and his partner Jessica. The story does feature a few flashbacks which you get to play also. Both Chris and Jessica have reportedly gone missing on the Queen Zenobia and their boss has sent out Jill and Parker to find them. During their search they find many B.O.W.s on the ship infected with the T-Abyss virus. They finally enter a room where they think Chris is, only for it to turn out not to be him. Now they must race against time fighting off the B.O.W.s whilst looking for Chris and Jessica. === GAMEPLAY === You play as Jill more than Chris in this Resident Evil but the story does revolve around them both. The game is set from a third person perspective with the camera basically coming over the right shoulder of your characters. The game is quite dark so probably better played at night time. There are two different game modes, one being the main story and another being Raid mode which is the same mode they have on every Resident Evil game but under a different name. In Raid mode you play with someone online and take on waves of enemies scoring combos and more, trying to get the best possible score and rank. Story mode is the main focus with Resident Evil Revelations as it always is. The game offers quite a few puzzle, scary bits that make you think its back to its best and also includes a lot of backtracking like you did in the older Resident Evil games. The puzzles aren't exactly on the same levels as prev ious games but at least they're back. The game does usually hide something in every corner to give you a bit of a freight. Around the Queen Zenobia are new weapons, custom parts for the weapons you find and also other items such as herbs, bullets and key items. Key items are easy to find but bullets can be quite rare. You are also given a new weapon type that doesn't kill enemies but more or less is used in every room you enter. This is used for finding items that cannot be seen by the naked eye. Also use it to find hand prints which lead to achievements and more. There are lots of different enemies but none of which are zombies and I do believe this is the biggest let down as the zombies are what made Resident Evil in my opinion. The game does feature bosses and when the bosses come you certainly know about it because they are huge. Some weapons you find include different types of that kind. There are a few different types of shotguns, pistols, machine guns, magnums and more but there are also quite a few different types of grenades which do different effects to your enemies. Another annoying feature is you cant run on the game other than a little jog and this doesn't seem quick enough sometimes and it always leads to me getting hit. You can dodge but you have to time it really well. Overall Resident Evil Revelations doesn't have a lot of variety in its gameplay but it does still entertain. === GRAPHICS & SOUND EFFECTS === The graphics to Resident Evil Revelations isn't the best. In fact it has taken a step back from Resident Evil 6 but its not a major problem at all. The characters look reasonably good and most importantly Chris looks good considering the creators had to make him look younger because the game is set a few years back before his entrance into 6. The ship is fantastically designed and definitely feels like a famous Resident Evil setting such as the cop station on 2 and 3, the village on 4 and of course the mansion on Resident Evil 1. Enemies look pretty good too and overall I would say the graphics are okay. They don't stand out from other bits in the game though. The sound effects are a little better but not massively better than the graphics. The music is slightly different from the older music but still has a Resident Evil feel about it. The voice acting is reasonably good as always, enemies sound quite good but not spectacular. The action sound effects is probably the best feature to the sound effects but its quite rare to find yourself in a lot of action in this game. Also about the music is the way it changes when something is happening or just about to happen and it certainly makes things that much more interesting. Overall the sound effects are better but not overly impressive by any means. === DIFFICULT & LONGEVITY === Resident Evil has always been one of those games that require basic commonsense with the puzzles and backtracking. Its not hard at all and in fact the hardest part is probably trying to avoid enemies or not get hit by them whilst blowing them away with your guns. The controls are simple but the game seriously needed a better run. The game starts off very easy but gets a little more difficult as you get further in the game with harder enemies to defeat or avoid and bigger bosses becoming a slight problem. Raid mode starts off easy but as time starts to run out it does get a little harder. The length of the game always tends to disappoints nowadays with the length of the main story. Resident Evil Revelations is no different with the main story being roughly around 10-12 hours. The game does have its replay value but its still not the best in terms of length. Raid mode was put on with it and with this mode I guess it can be seen as reasonable. Raid mode with friends or other online gamers will last a lot longer than the main story. However if you just want to play for the main game then this is probably best avoided because it really is short overall. === PROS === *Fantastic story and two of the best playable characters being Chris and Jill. *One of the best settings for a game similar to the cop station. *Raid mode is fun to play with friends or other online gamers and there are a lot of levels to play too. *New weapons, some new characters and new enemies! *Lots of backtracking and like the older games with some survival horror and not just action. === CONS === *Not the best looking game out there and considering its newer than Resident Evil 6 it doesn't look as good. *Not at all that difficult with puzzles making a return but being very simple. *There are no zombies. How can this be Resident Evil with no zombies. *The game needs more than just one 10 hours story and one multiplayer mode. *Not enough action for my liking. === FINAL THOUGHT === So Resident Evil Revelations actually made some progress with returning to similarities from the older Resident Evil games and in a way I am glad because that is what made the game so much fun growing up. I for one am a massive fan of Resident Evil 6 though with the all out action mayhem and believe it did add something new. There is a bit of a mix in this one so its actually surprisingly good, just not as good as Resident Evil 6 in my eyes. I would definitely recommend Resident Evil Revelations especially if you wasn't a huge fan of Resident Evil 6 because it drifted off track. This game definitely puts the survival horror back in the franchise and hopefully things crack on from here. If you love a good story driven game with a few scares here and there, puzzles and more then this is definitely for you. The game has an age rating of 16+ and probably should be an 18+. Does have quite a lot of blood. A good Resident Evil game similar to the older ones but could do with a bit more on it. I would give it a 7/10! == DEFIANCE == Defiance is a science fiction themed MMORPG (massively multiplayer online role playing game) developed by Trion Worlds. Defiance is also a third person shooter game and an action role playing game. The game is available on the PC, PS3 and the Xbox 360. Defiance takes place several years in the future on a new Earth where aliens have taken over. Defiance is a tie-in to the Syfy show of the same name. It has its similarities to the show but offers a lot more. Please note that you cannot play this game if you do not have an internet connection or Xbox Live gold membership. San Francisco is where the game takes place. Trion Worlds keep bringing several patches out for the game that must be downloaded but that is done automatically and usually involve new things added to the game. === STORY === Following a disastrous war between the human race and alliance of extraterrestrial races known as Votans. The Votans came to Earth to live their lives after their solar system was destroyed. However the Votans didn't know Earth already had a race living on it, the human race. Shortly after the Votans and the Humans agreed to try and live in peace on Earth. The only downside being that not all Votans are willing to do this and want the planet for themselves. Now you must create your hero and join thousands of players in the open world and stop the threat of the Votans plus what other enemies threaten to take what is left of Earth. === GAMEPLAY === Defiance is a third person shooter but is a little glitchy because its not been fully sorted yet. This isn't a massively bad thing because its an MMO game and its bound to have its glitches still. At the start of the game you are made to create your hero. You are given the choice of four different classes for your character which include shotgun, assault, sniper and light machine. All classes seem to find those types of weapons more frequently but can use different weapons. I'm not sure why you are asked to pick because it doesn't really alter much in the game. Now you have to pick an Origin. Origins do not limit what weapons, abilities or outfits the players can choose. The four origins are Veterans, Outlaws, Machinists, and Survivalists. You are then given a few choices on how you want your character to look and you're allowed to change their hair, facial expressions and features, clothing, add tattoos and even change whether your character is male or female. There isn't a whole lot of customization options which is a little disappointing but later on in the game when you get new outfits, it kinda changes your opinion on the customization. There are thousands of different outfits and bits of clothing that you can add and some of which look great. Outfits are gained from either vendors or doing episode missions. Episode missions are usually available for a limited time and usually come on after each show has aired. Along with episode missions are also other side missions such as time trials that let you use a certain vehicle to go around charging through each checkpoint as quick as you can. Also hotshot challenges which usually involve you blasting the hell out of enemies for a high score and there are more. All challenges in the game earn you rewards for each medal type. Bronze, silver and gold can be earned with gold offering the better rewards. Scrip is the currency in game which can be spent all over the place at vendors, special vendors and even hidden vendors. You can also offer scrip with other online players for their weapons or other items. There are thousands of weapons scattered throughout the game, most enemies drop weapons. Also weapons you find are the level you are and there are different coloured weapons. Going from white, green, blue, purple to orange with orange being legendary weapons and harder to find. You can also add mods to weapons. Each weapon has a maximum of four mod slots which can be added to make a much more powerful weapon. Also around are new types of grenades which can be used. You can also equip a first and secondary gun to make life a lot easier. Also on enemies will be scrap salvage which can be used as a currency to buy key codes and add mod slots to your weapons. Ark Falls appear on your map and are basically timed. You have to defeat all enemies and do what ever you are told to do which can be beating a massive sized enemy, smash bits of the Ark Fall to bits and so on. You don't do these alone as other online gamers join in. Ark Falls get harder when more and more people join in. These offer great rewards and a leaderboard. The leaderboard tells you who has done the most damage and killed the most. You are automatically given two items for finishing the Ark Fall. There are also events scattered throughout the world of Defiance which trigger when you get close. Experience can be earned all over the place. Leveling up is a bit strange in this game because it goes up in tens and other bits and bobs when you do certain objectives or complete goals. There is lots of things to do in Defiance and this isn't counting stuff such as pursuits which earn special currency to buy different weapons, titles and more. Multiplayer modes such as Shadow War which is hundreds of people trying to capture things (a little like capture and hold from most online games). Deathmatch and team deathmatch. You can also buy vehicles to use to get around the world of Defiance. Defiance is a massive open world game and offers a lot in terms of gameplay but whilst it sounds like a lot you always have to remember that its very repetitive after you finish the main story missions and side missions. There is a screen to learn a massive range of abilities. You also have one main ability such as blur to make you fast and blurry for a limited time which makes you harder to shoot, overcharge which makes you do double the amount of damage, cloak to become invisible and decoy to send out a decoy basically. Also there are hundreds of different enemies to kill and a lot more the game has to offer. === GRAPHICS & SOUND EFFECTS === Defiance graphics aren't the best overall but for a game like this they don't matter at all that much and its not the worst part of the game. The scenery and the Defiance world is actually quite good. The biggest let down are the glitches that happen and the characters because they look a little ordinary. The enemies are what stands out for the graphics because they look really well designed. The sound effects for the game are a lot better than the graphics and definitely stand out more. The music is fantastic and one of the best soundtracks to a game I have heard. Voice acting is okay but not the best ever. Enemies sound pretty good too. The action sound effects are what make the game stand out. Overall the graphics aren't the best but the sound effects are an improvement. === DIFFICULTY & LONGEVITY === The games difficulty really depends on what you're doing in the game. The story missions aren't that difficult but get harder as you get further in the game. However you can do most story missions with friends and this makes it a lot easier. Online play difficulty varies such as deathmatch and shadow wars and depends on how experienced the other online players are. Ark Falls difficulty changes depending on how many players are there. Overall I feel Defiance is an easy game and fun to play. The length of the game really depends on if you like repetitive things after the main story is finished because you will find yourself doing an awful lot of Ark Falls. Overall not a difficult game but a mix with the length of it. === PROS === *A massive open world with thousands of online players playing at one time. *Thousands of different weapons, enemies and other bits. *A lot of different small enemies along with medium and huge enemies too. *Really good music and some top quality sound effects. *Great to play with friends. === CONS === *Story mode isn't the longest and there aren't a lot of side missions. *Graphics are glitchy at times and not the best looking game ever. *Can be a very repetitive game and can become quite boring after playing for a while. *Cant play the game with other players in different countries. === FINAL THOUGHT === Defiance is a pretty good game. At first it can be addictive but it does get very boring very quickly. This is one of the very few MMO games available on console so its definitely worth checking out. I would recommend the game especially if you like a good action packed third person shooter with quite a bit of variety in the enemies. Lots of weapons to keep you entertained. The game has an age rating of 18+ and all copies come with a code for a few extra bits. I bought the game when it first came out for £35 which is definitely worth it for a while. The game is much cheaper now as its been out a while. You can pick it up from Amazon for about £20 now and it still has thousands of people playing it. Definitely value for money. There is no fee to play like most MMO games which is another bonus. Overall one of a kind for the consoles and I would give it a reasonable 7/10! == HALO 4 == Halo 4 is a first person shooter game developed by 343 Industries and published by Microsoft. The game is an exclusive to the Xbox 360. The story to Halo 4 starts four years after the events of Halo 3. Halo has always been one of my favourite games for many reasons and while every one enjoys Call Of Duty (probably more) I myself love the Halo franchise and think it offers a lot more. This is the first Halo 343 Industries have created because the previous creators were Bungie who are now working on another project. Halo 4 is one of the best, most action packed and thrilling shooter games out there so far. Halo 4 also takes place in a futuristic science fiction setting in the year 2557. Also this game sees the return of the Master Chief! === STORY === Master Chief is woken up from cryonic sleep by his friend Cortana who helped back in Halo 3. Just before she awakens him, rogue covenant forces board the vessel that you are on. As Master Chief and Cortana explore the vessel and taking down any enemy covenant forces, Cortana malfunctions. She reveals that she is basically dying and past the usual operating period of an AI. She also reveals that she is becoming rampant and out of control, slowly thinking herself to death because of it. Now as Master Chief your mission is to get Cortana back to Earth where her creator is and try and get help from her. Master Chief picks up muffled transmissions from a human ship called Infinity. After warning Infinity away from the vessel they realize all is not what it seems and that an ancient Forerunner warrior from imprisonment is out for their blood. Can you help Master Chief with his missions, or will it finally be the end of him! === GAMEPLAY === Halo 4 has to be the best one yet in terms of gameplay for sure. Its a first person shooter similar to how Call Of Duty games are but in a science fiction world set way into the future. You are Master Chief returning from his heroics from Halo 3. The game offers a wide variety of game modes that include campaign, spartan ops and a ton of multiplayer modes. In campaign you work through the missions you are given. There are a total of 8 missions for the campaign. This doesn't sound too good but its actually not as bad as it sounds because some missions can last well over an hour depending on how you're going through them. Also in campaign mode you can play with three other online players if you wish and try and finish the game with them. You can also play system link on the same console with you and one other person. Along with the campaign comes Spartan Ops mode which is fantastic. At first when the game was released this mode was very limited because it wouldn't let you play many of the episodes at first. 343 decided to release an episode every week on a Monday. Now there are a lot of missions available. These Spartan Ops missions are basically just a mission with an objective or two. They can last about 45 minutes depending on the difficulty and depending on if you're playing alone or with friends or other online gamers. Spartan Ops missions are based around levels similar to that of the campaign ones but offer quite a bit difference. Its always good to play these missions when you can because you earn EXP (experience), even more so than the other game modes. EXP is used to level up your character in online play. You can add new things to your character. Stuff you can add include new armor like shoulder armor, helmets, body armor and more. There are thousands of customization options for your Spartan. You can also add a tag to your Spartan for online play and for others to recognize you like teammates and other players. Also available to you is an icon to also tell who you are and there are a lot of options for this. You can also change the colour of your Spartan but this only noticeable when you play Spartan Ops missions. There are also loadouts which you alter to suit your needs and online play. Loadouts basically let you have different weapons and abilities equipped so you don't need to keep changing. There are quite a few different abilities that include stealth, jet pack, decoy and an extra burst of speed for those tricky situations. There are also tons of different guns that include previous ones from other Halo games and also some new guns available at your disposal. Online play is absolutely fantastic and Halo 4 is good to play alone but even better for online play. There are lots of different options that include team deathmatch which is 4 vs 4 on a map that is voted for out of three different options. there is also games that include capture and hold, oddball, big team deathmatch which is 8 vs 8 and many more. All have different aims and different rules but you are told what these are upon picking which game you wish to play. My personal favourites are deathmatch and oddball. Oddball is killing the person who has the ball then holding it for as long as possible to rack up points. You're not allowed to shoot whilst holding the ball but if you can get close enough you can whack them with it to instantly kill them. This is also 4 vs 4 with your teammates trying to protect you whilst you hold the ball. === GRAPHICS & SOUND EFFECTS === The graphics for Halo games has never been its main point of the game but they're not at all that bad in Halo 4. Some of the scenery in the game (when it can be seen) is actually really well designed and looks pretty good. One of the biggest improvements are the basic look of the enemies. There are more enemies now than there has ever been and this is fantastic because they all look great. Also a good thing about Halo is that its never had glitchy graphics or faults in them so I guess that is always a bonus. Characters look okay but nothing to shout about but overall I think 343 has done the game justice with the graphics and the layout. Beautiful game with some stunning visuals. Now the sound effects have always been a highlight and its no different in this game. I always find myself humming the music at the start of the game when you first load up, its really that addictive. The in game music is equally impressive and certainly stands out from other games. The actual sound effects when playing are flawless. The full on action perspective is brilliant. Enemies sound really good and have their own noise but the another good part has to be the voice acting because its perfect. The way the characters tone of voice changes when it needs to works. Overall the sound effects to Halo 4 are something special but the best part has got to be the music because it will keep you on the edge of your seat throughout. === DIFFICULTY & LONGEVITY === The difficulty of the game always depends on what game mode you're playing and whether or not you are playing online. Online play usually varies but in Halo 4 its quite different this time because the servers do try and find gamers with a similar level to you. Spartan Ops difficulty depends on what you choose it to be on starting with easy leading up to legendary. I wouldn't recommend legendary if you are playing alone because it does actually prove challenging. However if you are playing with a friend, friends or other players then go for it because its much easier. This is basically the same for campaign mode too. The controls to the game are very simple and easy to get the hang of. Length of the game is an interesting subject because I find the campaign a little short but you do have to playthrough it at least twice. Once alone and once with friends. There are numerous achievements for alone and with someone so its always good to do it. Campaign will last around 8-10 hours maybe a little longer depending how you go but the highlight is online play and Spartan Ops mode because both of which can last a very long time. There are lots of people still playing the game so it wont die out anytime soon. I would say to do all the Spartan Ops missions you're looking at around 20 hours and as for multiplayer modes you are looking at well over 50 hours. Its a fun packed game that will last a very long time. === PROS === *A fun action packed game with a decent story. *Lots of customization options for your online spartan. *Lots of different games modes to play including campaign on your own or with friends over Xbox Live. *Fantastic sound effects and even better music! *The length of the game for an Xbox Live fan is brilliant, one of the best out there. === CONS === *Does get a little boring after playing for hours. *Can be repetitive if you play the same sort of modes over and over again. *Story mode isn't long enough and should be a bit longer for people who don't play online. *Graphics don't seem much different from the last Halo games! === FINAL THOUGHT === Halo 4 is a fantastic game. One of the biggest reasons I like it is because it doesn't have stealth bits such as some games. Don't get me wrong because I love a good stealthy game but some games that feature stealth doesn't work. Halo 4 is based around all out action and this works incredibly well. It also features no end of game modes for all kinds of players and also little bits of role playing elements such as the customization options that are available. This is the best Halo so far and offers more in many ways to the other games. I would definitely recommend the game because its fun, action packed and different in my opinion. Campaign is great, game modes are great and there is always something new that 343 are doing to it. If you like first person shooter games then this is right up your street because its the best of its kind for sure. If you love Call Of Duty then try this because its similar in many ways. The game has an age rating of 16+ which is about right. The best Halo game out there so far to date, with so much on offer. I would give Halo 4 a very solid 9/10! Fantastic game! == THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN == The Amazing Spider-Man is an action/adventure game set in a third-person open world. The game was developed by Beenox and published by Activision and is available for the PC, PS3, Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo DS, Wii, Xbox 360 and many more. I have never really been a massive fan of the Spider-Man games but I have to say this game certainly altered my feeling on them because its actually quite good and offers a wide range of gameplay features. One of the only flaws is the fact that the only playable mode is single player. There isn't any sort of multiplayer which is a real shame because that would of been fun. The game was directed by Gerard Lehiany and also written by Seamus Kevin Fahey and to be honest they've done a fantastic job. === STORY === The game is set several months after the events of the movie. Peter Parker and his girlfriend Gwen have sneaked into a restricted part of the Oscorp center. Gwen reveals that she thinks they might be carrying on with where Curt Connors left off with his experiment on the cross species. Gwen and Peter are caught by Alistair Smythe who does reveal that some special scientists are continuing with Curt Connors experiments. Alistair escorts them but suddenly something goes wrong and the cross species start to attack as they notice something with Peter. Peter himself is a cross species after the incidents of the spider bite. Gwen and the scientists are attacked and must stay behind to do what they can. Peter goes in search of answers but the only thing left to do is go and get help from the man that started this, Curt Connors. === GAMEPLAY === The highlight of the gameplay is the open world you are allowed to explore using your amazing web. You have the ability to swing around the whole of New York exploring many places. There are comic book pieces scattered throughout the game and almost one on every building in the game. Some are floating in midair as well from the wind. Spidey can use his web for many things including the swinging or even shooting down numerous enemies that stand in his way. The game is shot from a third person perspective and I have to say this is the best Spider-Man game for camera angles because many of the other Spidey games have awful cameras. The games only mode is story mode but there are a lot of side missions and more in this mode to keep you entertained. Some side missions include taking out enemies that are threatening civilians and these are very repetitive but also very easy. Doing these earns EXP (experience) to buy new skills and abilities. There are also side missions that include taking photos of certain things, time trials in which you race to each checkpoint within a time limit, helping the police bring down enemies in a car by catching up to them and using your web plus many other side missions. The main story missions are a lot longer than a simple side mission. Most side missions can be done in seconds and more time is spent going to your objective rather than doing them. Spidey can fight as well as swing and use his web to take enemies down. He fights like Batman does in the Batman Arkham games and in my opinion it works tremendously well. He doesn't have an awful lot of moves to start with. Spider-Man can learn new moves or make older moves more powerful by earning EXP from doing side missions or other bits. EXP can be spent as a type of currency to buy new moves and skills. You can make things such as Spider-Man's web shoot quicker, make his attacks more powerful or even his defense even stronger. This Spider-Man game isn't just based on action, it also requires stealth in some areas because some of the enemies he takes on include enemies with guns and Spidey cant dodge every bullet coming his way. There are quite a lot of different enemies in the game and also a few bosses you will come up against. Enemies include flying machines, lizard creatures which are the cross species and also normal people in gangs and such. In the city there are a lot of places you can explore and a good thing about this is that you can barely die at all doing the city exploring or even the side missions. If you do die you are automatically brought back to where you really need to be. You don't have a certain amount of lives but you do have a health meter that you must keep a close eye on. The Amazing Spider-Man does have a lot to offer in terms of gameplay and is definitely the best Spider-Man game out there so far to date. Its fun, addictive and has a lot of action. More importantly kids will love this because its based on their friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. === GRAPHICS & SOUND EFFECTS === Okay so the graphics to the game aren't spectacular to say the least and in fact they look a little cartoon like but that's not at all surprising for a game like this. I do however love some of the view points in the game from some of the highest buildings as it does look amazing at times. Spider-Man does look new and improved from the previous games but that's as far as the graphics are in terms of really good. Buildings look average and pretty much all the same, scenery isn't the best but does have stand out bits and also the characters facial expressions don't seem to change at all through the game. Other bits such as enemy design, how the cars look and some of the other settings such as Oscorp or the sewers look okay but not exciting. The sound effects are pretty much in the same league as the graphics with nothing much standing out. Music is plain and rarely changes through the game unless you're up against a boss or something exciting has happened. Voice acting is probably the highlight with the actors from the film also doing the voices for the game including Andrew Garfield and the beautiful Emma Stone. Fighting sound effects are okay but not amazing but I did like the way Spidey screams out loud when hes web swinging through the city. It sounds great and gives a great feeling on how the game is. Overall the sound effects and the graphics could of been a little better but its still a great game to play. === DIFFICULTY & LONGEVITY === The game can be difficult in some places and could be more difficult for the younger gamers. Especially with the stealth bits the game has because if they spot you then you must move really quickly and hide somewhere for a while before retrying what you were doing. Also the combat is a little more advanced than what it used to be because now you must press certain buttons to counter or do certain things to take out the enemy which include using trash cans and dumpsters or even other items laying around. Side missions are very easy and suitable for absolutely anyone, they are also quite a lot of fun even though they are a little repetitive. The controls are simple, but getting used to learning new skills can be quite tricky if you are a newcomer to this sort of thing. Now the length of the game is an interesting subject and depends on if you plan on getting all the achievements and also doing all side missions available. If you just want to do the main quest line then you are looking at around 10 hours of gameplay. However with all of the comic book pieces to collect, side missions to do and exploring to do in the city then you can be looking at around 30 hours. Also if you want to go through the game again because you missed bits and bobs then you are looking at maybe a tops of 50 hours which is fantastic and the main reason for this is the lack of multiplayer modes. Overall not a difficult game for the experienced gamers and also quite good in terms of length. === PROS === *Its Spider-Man and who doesn't like Spider-Man? *A massive city to explore and go swinging through with your web. *A variety of different side missions available including saving people and time trials. *Lots of different enemies and quite a few bosses too. *Learn new skills and abilities or even strengthen your defense and more with the new upgrade system. *Pretty good in terms of length and gameplay features. === CONS === *Not an overly massive main story. *Also side missions can become very repetitive as there are a lot of the same type of mission. *The graphics and sound effects could have been a bit better in my opinion. *Kids might find this a little difficult and need help because of the stealth and new combat system. *No multiplayer options at all. === FINAL THOUGHT === So Spider-Man games have been around for many years now and kids love them. I have to say after playing this game my opinion changed quite a lot about them too because this one is definitely the best one out there. Its fun to play, has a pretty good story and offers a lot to fans of the movies and more. Although the graphics and sound effects aren't the best ever don't let this put you off because the game does have many aspects that take the bad stuff away. I would definitely recommend the game to people with kids or to fans of Spider-Man. Its new and improved combat system is definitely worth checking out if you've never played the batman games. I have always preferred Spidey to Batman for many reasons. Exploring the city is great, fighting is great and even the stealth bits for me are great. Its not as easy as it should be. The game has an age rating of 16+ because of the fighting but other than that its perfectly fine for kids to play. The price of the game is reasonable as you can find it on Amazon for around £15. A great game with a great character and I would give the game a reasonable 7/10! Review also on Ciao under the username: MrBrightside1987!
== DEAD ISLAND RIPTIDE == Dead Island Riptide is the sequel to the very impressive but somewhat glitchy game known as just Dead Island. Set on a new island and full with a whole new bunch of weapons, enemies and more, Dead Island Riptide definitely impresses. Dead Island Riptide was developed by Techland and published by Deep Silver. The game is available for PC, PS3 and of course the Xbox 360. Riptide is a survival horror game with role playing elements, first person elements and also an adventure game. Also the game features all four characters from the previous Dead Island game but it also features a brand new playable character. Each character has their own skills and abilities to suit how you want to play the game. === STORY === Dead Island Riptide takes place straight after the ending of the first game with all four members from the previous game being transported off the prison island. All four characters are taken into custody by Colonel Sam Hardy of the Australian Defence Force and Frank Serpo, a civilian VIP. After landing on an aircraft carrier they meet a new character that is also immune like the other characters. After the gang are examined and after waking up from being passed out by sedatives, they find the ship they are on is overrun by flesh eating zombies yet again. Frank Serpo escaped using a helicopter aboard the ship, while the others crash into a rock and end up stranded on the shore of the island of Palanai. The group along with newest member John Morgan, meet up with WHO researcher Harlow, who tells them the zombie infection has taken over this island as well. After saving a holdout full of survivors from an attack from the infected, the group meet back up with Colonel Sam Hardy again. He informs them that a nuclear strike against Palanai is planned to rid the infection and cover up evidence of any outbreak. === GAMEPLAY === Dead Island Riptide is one of the most enjoyable games I have played in a long time and the main reason for this is because its full of thing to do. The game is set from a first person perspective, which works well throughout and you can tell from the previous game that the development team have worked hard on improving things from that view. Not only does the game look slightly different but it also feels a lot different when swinging weapons, running or even just walking. The game has a main story line which you must follow to some extent but as soon as you're on the island of Palanai you are free to do what you want. You can explore the beautifully designed island looking for things such as rare items or even survivor in need of help. There are also shops hidden throughout the game that sell all kinds of items and weapons. There are some places that you cant explore at the start of the game because most of it does come up in the main story, so you have to do that to get to new places. The story is very easy to follow and some objectives can take a long time to do because I guarantee that you will come across survivors whilst going to your objectives and you nearly always must help them there and then because you never know what they may give you in return of saving them. One of the biggest things about Dead Island Riptide is the action. Riptide offers you a fantastic range of weapons and a wide range of different enemies. Weapons that you can use to kill zombies and other enemies include swords, throwing knives, wooden planks, numerous guns, baseball bats, even grenades and lots more but the best thing about all the weapons is that about 60% of them can be used at repair benches to create something spectacular. There are hundreds of different mods that are scattered throughout the whole of Dead Island and these let you add items to weapons to make them stronger. For example you can get a nail mod and use it on a baseball bat to make a spiked bat and this makes it much more effective. Some of the places on the island that you visit include caves, a city, sewers, a barracks and many more and each is designed brilliantly. You also get many dead zone places that usually have lots of rare items in and a mod in almost each dead zone. The only problem with the dead zones is that there usually is a very tough enemy lurking and waiting for you to enter. There are a lot of different enemies, even more so than the previous Dead Island game and the good thing is that its not just normal zombies that want your blood. There are zombies that I like to call rushers which are very annoying and offer a huge threat because if you decide to run then they will run after you and wont give in. There are also rams which are about the size of five zombies and basically ram you whilst wearing a straight jacket. Floaters are fat ugly looking zombies that can poison you because they squirt green mist at you, screamers are hectic because they scream at you and knock you over constantly, there are also prisoners that are human but will attack you with guns and other weapons and there are lots of other different enemies that do numerous things. There are a lot of side missions around the island of Palanai most of which have you taking out the zombies surrounding them. There are a lot of survivors around and the only problem is finding them all. Some other side missions include going long distance to find specific items or doing other varied objectives. There are also numerous vehicles that you can use to get around the island much quicker from cars to boats. When surrounded by enemies there are a few different ways you can attack your enemies which include basic hack and slash or you can hold your button to take a longer swing. You can hack off heads, arms and legs to defeat your enemies and you can even mow them down in the cars and boats. Each character has their own abilities and you can learn new things with each character when you level up. Every level gained you earn a point that can be spent on numerous things such as a combat skill, survival skill or a skill in which the character you've picked specializes in. Overall the game is fantastic for gameplay, its action packed, bloody and so much fun. === GRAPHICS & SOUND EFFECTS === In my opinion Dead Island Riptide is the most beautifully designed game out there to date. With flawless graphics most of the time, with less glitches than the first game, this definitely makes Dead Island Riptide an awesome game to play. The most impressive part of the graphics are the way the weather quickly changes from beautiful sunshine to a very dismal pour down of rain. The rain starts off slowly but within a couple of seconds its thrashing it down and it really does look beautiful. The whole island is very beautifully designed with scenery really standing out, beaches looking gorgeous, the city being expertly designed and enemies looking very ferocious and damn right scary. Also with the game shot from a first person perspective it makes the game stand out even more so you can take more of the scenery in and enjoy the game at its fullest. The only downside in my opinion is the characters because they don't really stand out as main characters from other games. They look a little plain and a little ordinary. However overall the graphics for Riptide are absolutely fantastic. Now the sound effects are also really good. One thing about the sound effects is that it will have you on the edge of your seat with excitement. The music is quite good and definitely makes the game stand out a little but the best part of the sound effects are the overall sound of it. From hacking and slashing action sounding like its coming right out of your TV to the sound of a close by waterfall sounding phenomenal. With the wide range of enemies available in the game, each one has their own sounds and make their own noise so you know exactly what is coming. The screamers can be extremely annoying with the way they knock you down, but that's not the worst of it because they are noisy creatures. Rams stand out the most with the way they are not only do they make struggling sounds but they also ram buildings and other bits so its not very hard to know when they're around. The voice acting in the game is great and definitely lightens up the game overall. So both sound effects and graphics are fantastic overall and make the game much more enjoyable. === DIFFICULTY & LONGEVITY === The games overall difficulty can be changed. I do feel its better to have it what it originally starts on because the game can become a little tricky later on. The normal zombies that don't run are very easy and most of these are at the beginning of the game. The game gets a little harder when different enemies come into it such as the rushers and the enemies that take a beating to kill. The overall difficulty of the main story missions is a little disappointing because they don't offer that much of a challenge unless you play alone. Playing with friends make this game easier and more fun. Side missions are very easy which is a good thing. The hardest part of the game is when you find yourself up against numerous enemies, surrounded or cornered in somewhere because they will kill you almost instantly. The game doesn't get easier the higher your level is because the enemies also level up when you do. The length of the game is an interesting subject because if for some reason you only want to do the main story missions then the game will only last about 12 hours give or take but if like me you like to do absolutely everything and get your moneys worth then the game will last around 30 hours. Okay so it still doesn't seem that good? But it actually is because the game has replay value and its so much fun playing with 3 other online players doing the story, side missions or even just messing around. Also with all the achievements you will find yourself doing some crazy stuff such as hacking zombies to death with a chainsaw and more. So overall I feel the length of the game is pretty good and definitely value for money. === PROS === *A brand new and just as big and beautiful island to explore. *Great story, lots of side missions and survivors to find and help. *Thousands of different weapons and the ability to create weapons with mods you collect. *Beautifully designed game with great graphics and some fantastic sound effects. *Great to play with friends or other online gamers. === CONS === *Its bloody, gruesome and can be quite scary in places with the element of surprise. *The main story isn't that long and lasts only about 12 hours if you take your time. *The playable characters look a little plain and ordinary and don't really look like the hero type. *Its not an all out gun fight like most first person shooter games and is more a fight for survival. *Can be a little hard when playing alone. === FINAL THOUGHT === Dead Island Riptide is definitely an improvement from the first game even though both games are fantastic. Riptide features a lot less glitches which instantly makes it better because the first game was literally full of them. There is much more action throughout the game, more enemies, more weapons and items. Overall the game has more to offer than the first one and even offers a new character. Riptide is one of the better looking games this year and it will definitely take some beating on that front. So if like me you love a good blood filled hack and slash first person survival game then I urge you to check this out because its fantastic. I would definitely recommend the game if you loved the first. Even if you've decided not to bother because of glitches and flaws in the first game because this one rarely features a mistake. It offers gamers more in many ways. If you love games that have an open world for you to explore then this is no different and offers that also. The game is available in most places. I got my copy from ASDA for just £28 a day after its release. The game now goes for around the £20 mark on Amazon and that is definitely value for money for what you get. The game is definitely an 18+ and worthy of its rating because not only does it features strong language but it also features bucket loads of blood and limbs flying all over the place. Not for the faint hearted! Overall a fantastic game and one of my favourites on the Xbox 360. I would give the game a very strong 9/10! Review also on Ciao under the username: MrBrightside1987!
(Series only review) == TEEN WOLF SEASON ONE == Teen Wolf season one is a TV series made from the 1985 hit film Teen Wolf but features more of a romantic story and has more emphasis on horror and werewolf mythology. Teen Wolf is a supernatural drama show a lot like The Vampire Diaries and in my opinion its simply just as good as that. Teen Wolf is another series which every episode finishes on a cliffhanger and this is one of the few shows that isn't predictable. This season of Teen Wolf has a total of just 12 episodes and each episode is on for around 42 minutes. Season one also has to go down as one of my all time favourite series. The story is great, the cast is great and overall its a series I recommend you checking out especially if you LOVE The Vampire Diaries. === TEEN WOLF STORY === The story of Teen Wolf is really good and very interesting. It revolves around an outcast called Scott McCall (Tyler Posey) who is a student at Beacon Hills High School. Scott's life takes an unexpected turn when he is bitten by a werewolf one night when with his friend Stiles Stilinski (Dylan O'Brien). Scott starts to gain abilities such as ultimate strength, strong sense of smell, fantastic hearing, super fast speed and the ability to heal wounds extremely quickly. This freaks him out and he searches for answers which lead him to realize that he is an actual werewolf. Scott tells his best friend Stiles and together they learn to get through most things. They also meet a mysterious man named Derek Hale who is also a werewolf and he teaches Scott how to control all his abilities and learn him to balance his newfound identity among the many dangers that are around. Scott falls in love with a girl called Alison Argent (Crystal Reed) and has the choice of being in love or taking responsibility of being a werewolf. Throughout this season Scott goes through a lot and a new mysterious wolf comes into the show and tries to hunt him and Derek down and aims to try and kill all Scott's friends. === DID YOU ENJOY IT?? === This show is one of my favourites and the main reason for this is because every episode has a huge cliffhanger at the end of it and leaves you wanting more. I loved this season that much that I would even go as far as to say its better than The Vampire Diaries and I am a massive fan of that show too. Also you can see the similarities between the two shows and it even has a mix of Supernatural the show in it too. Its a lot like the movie which is obviously understandable but it features a romance a little bit like the Twilight romance between Edward and Bella. Twilight is much more lovey dovey than this but the similarities are certainly there. Teen Wolf has a young cast and a bunch of great characters but the main reason I enjoyed this was because its gripping, surprising and full of drama and action. Overall the series started well and ended perfectly and in between I probably couldn't pick many faults from it. === CHARACTERS///CAST///PERFORMANCES === The characters in this season are fantastic and I have to start by mentioning Derek Hale because he is the very mysterious werewolf. Derek is a great character in the show and stands out in every way and the female watchers will love him. Hes also the type of character where he can go from being a good buy at times to turning into a bad-ass. Derek Hale is played by Tyler Hoechlin and his performance in this show is outstanding. Tyler Posey plays the lead role as Scott Mccall who is another ladies favourite and he himself is quite mysterious at times but a fantastic character in the show and his overall performance is also very good. Now my favourite in the show and probably every guy that watches the program is Alison Argent played by Crystal Reed because she is absolutely beautiful and one of the upcoming actresses. She is Scott's love interest in the show and the chemistry is definitely there. The rest of the cast include Dylan O'Brien as the funny man Stiles, Holland Roden as the beautiful Lydia and Colton Haynes as the jock Jackson. They all do a very good job with their performances overall. === PRODUCERS///DIRECTORS === There really isn't much I can say about the directors because most the time its someone new each episode but there is a big list of producers that work on the show to make it how good it is. The show airs on MTV which could be a shock to some but it really is fantastic. The producers of the show include Marty Adelstein, Jeff Davis, Tony DiSanto, René Echevarria, Liz Gateley, Michael Thorn and Monica Macer. This has to be there best work and to be honest Teen Wolf has quite a big fan base and seems to be getting more and more popular so thumbs up to the producers and cast of the show. === SOUNDTRACK AND SPECIAL EFFECTS === Both the soundtrack and special effects are quite good in Teen Wolf. The soundtrack features songs from artists such as The Sea Of Cortez, Deadmau5, The Limousines, Weezer, Kids Of 88, James Vincent McMorrow, The Static Jacks, Young The Giant and many more. All tracks that featured in the series actually fit the scene they were used in really well and I couldn't fault it at all. The special effects in Teen Wolf actually surprised me because its not the highest budget TV show, yet the effects are really detailed and look great. Teen Wolf has probably the best designed werewolves I have seen in any movie or show for a very long time. Plus the special effects overall stand out really well at times. The action sequences look great and when the characters turn into the wolves it just looks more suitable than what I have seen in other programs and movies. Overall both the soundtrack and special effects are very good. === HOW DOES IT COMPARE TO SIMILAR TV SERIES?? === There are quite a few series similar to this in many ways but I do feel Teen Wolf can offer something new and exciting to fans of a good show. As I stated its a lot like The Vampire Diaries and a little like Supernatural and if you like both of those shows then this would be perfect for you. Its different in ways that each episode has at least one big surprise for viewers. Also the similarities to The Vampire Diaries are story wise, cast is very similar, characters but the biggest difference is there aren't any Vampires in Teen Wolf (YET). There are many movies that I could compare to Teen Wolf such as Teen Wolf the movie and Twilight but I like this season better than both of those. Overall there is a few things like Teen Wolf but this is something at its best. Unlike Twilight the romance part of the show isn't at all cheesy and it actually makes more sense than it sounds weird or crazy like Twilight. I also believe Twilight has way too much romance and not enough action but Teen Wolf has it all! === PROS === *The story is entertaining and will keep you on the edge of your seat all the way throughout! *Each episode gets better and better as it goes along and features a lot of surprises! *Could be better than The Vampire Diaries in the long run with it having similarities. *Perfect mix of romance, drama and action all the way through season one. *A very good soundtrack to the series and some of the special effects are unique and work really well. *One for the females and males with a very beautiful bunch of cast members! === CONS === *Only 12 episodes to the first season of the show but season two is looking better! *Not really any well known actors or actresses are in the show but that doesn't alter much overall. *Only roughly around 42 minutes each episode and would be better if it was slightly longer. *Not a very well known TV series. === FINAL THOUGHT === Teen Wolf season one has to be one of my favourite series and the main reason for that is the story is exciting and the show doesn't just feature drama and romance. One of the biggest factors for me was the fact each episode would surprise you in some way or form and after watching the first few episodes it grew on me incredibly quick and now I'm a massive fan. Teen Wolf is a very enjoyable TV series and season one was just so gripping that I wanted more and wanted to know what was going to happen next. Season one has done so well that season two was made and three isn't far away and has promised to offer more surprises. I would definitely recommend checking this out especially if you like movies or shows with werewolves or other mythological creatures and supernatural beings. Fans of The Vampire Diaries this is a must see because its similar in many ways and if you loved that you're guaranteed to love Teen Wolf. This show would go down as on e of my biggest recommendations and is definitely worth checking out. Similar to Twilight only better and has less cheesy parts to offer as well. Overall Teen Wolf season one is one of my favourite seasons along with Jericho season one, Heroes season one and two and Supernatural season 1 through to 7. I would have to give Teen Wolf season one a very solid 9/10 on everything! Review also posted on Ciao under the username: MrBrightside1987!
== FIFA 13 == As we all know the FIFA games come once a year and here comes FIFA 13. The only problem I have, is there enough difference from the previous game? I for one believe there is and this FIFA has the biggest change in a few years. Not only does it have new bits in the game but it also features a few new players on the cover and yes that means no Wayne Rooney. FIFA 13 for those that don't know is a football based game and was developed and published by EA Sports. The game is available on many platforms including PC, PS2, PS3, PS Vita, PSP, Wii U, Wii, 3DS, iOS and of course the Xbox 360. Some of the new features in FIFA 13 included the First Touch Control, a whole new bunch of celebrations and a EASFC Catalogue (explained below). There are a few different versions of the game available to buy which include the Ultimate Edition which gives you 24 free gold packs for Ultimate Team mode. There is also the Bonus Edition and Normal Edition versions of the game. Bonus Edition also comes with free packs and a few other bits but the Normal Edition just comes complete with the game. FIFA 13 offers new teams and new stadiums too but still not enough for fans of other teams that haven't made the cut. FIFA 13 also supports Kinect for the Xbox 360 but it is NOT required. === GAMEPLAY & GAME MODES === The gameplay to FIFA 13 is quite different to FIFA 12. FIFA 12 was a little too quick and a little unrealistic at times but FIFA 13 is more realistic in terms of gameplay but not so realistic in terms of end results. I have played numerous online matches where I have won 6-0, 8-4 and even lost 5-6 after being 5-0 up. I do feel the game is better than FIFA 12 and EA Sports seem to get it just about right every year. There are tons of new gameplay features and a few new game modes with a lot of added features in the old game modes too. All of the usual stuff such as match length and weather conditions are the same. The game does features numerous camera angles to suit how you like to play. Also the gameplay is more slick and much smoother than previous football games. FIFA 13 still features the player impact engine but obviously its been touched up a bit to feel more realistic and to be fair this really does work well. Tactical defending is back in FIFA 13 and at times it does look great, but others it just doesn't work like it did in FIFA 12. Something new to the game is the first touch control which at first I thought was fantastic but after many arguments with the game itself, its actually not as good as I thought. You have fantastic players such as Messi making very clumsy mistakes in the game and we all know if Messi does make a mistake he comes up with something else magical because that's the type of player he is. The first touch is the most annoying part of the game but when it does go right its incredible. I do feel the referees are a lot stricter in this game as they are in real life. With hundreds of clubs, thousands of players and a couple new stadiums FIFA just gets better and better. The main game mode for FIFA nowadays is FUT (FIFA Ultimate Team) but it does require you to have an Xbox Live Gold Membership as well as an internet connection to play. In this game mode you start by creating your own team name and add players you like as you earn coins from playing matches and competing in tournaments. You can use the coins you've earned to buy bronze, silver or gold packs which contain different rated players. In the bronze packs you find only bronze players, kits, consumable items and stadiums. Its also the same with silver and gold packs meaning the gold packs contain all gold items but cost considerably more coins. You can also sell your unwanted players and buy players that you cant seem to get in packs. These are all sold and bought by other gamers online. Career mode has been much improved and probably the biggest improvement in a FIFA game. One of the highlights is the fact other players still buy players but you don't see as many stupid transfers as you did. I remember playing FIFA 12 Career mode and I witnessed Bolton Wanderers buying an in form Javier Hernandes from Manchester Untied and on FIFA 13 the most extreme I had seen was something like Cristiano Ronaldo going back to Manchester United or joining Manchester City. One of the major flaws to Career mode is the very frustrating older players because if you buy a player in his 30's and he doesn't play because of injury or for another reason then his overall rating drops and his stats drop. If that was the case in real life wouldn't Ryan Giggs be playing in the football conference by now? Its awful, annoying and very strange how quickly their rating can drop. Something else new in Career mode is now you can manage an international team as well as your current club and this is definitely one of the major improvements from FIFA 12. You can also play as just the one player you have created and start at the lowest ranks working your way up to a massive club and gradually making your debut for an international team. There are numerous game modes to play but a lot of which is for Xbox Live gamers only such as Pro Clubs which you create one player and play online in a team you've created and you can also add friends and other gamers to play in your team. There are online tournaments available to play in this mode but you must have more than yourself in a team. If you have two players then the rest is controlled by the computer. There is also Seasons Mode which is online also, the main aim for this is to win and get promoted to the highest division. You are put up against other online players that are in the same league as you in terms of difficulty. Something new and impressive is the EASFC Catalogue which enables you to buy all sorts of goodies to use in all different game modes. You earn other types of coins for each match you play which can be spent in the catalogue to buy new kits, boots for your pro, FUT coins boosts, new celebrations and much more. === GRAPHICS AND SOUND EFFECTS === The graphics for the FIFA games have come a long long way over the years and are absolutely brilliant in FIFA 13. To be honest they have taken a massive step up from last year with a lot more players and teams agreeing to the face scans. Almost 60% of the premier league players have had their face scanned and look exactly like they do in real life football. The 60% is a massive step up from previous games because it used to be just as little as 20%. Also the stadiums in the game look incredibly real but one thing that hasn't changed an awful lot is the look of the crowd but lets not dwell too much on that. FIFA 12 had quite a few glitches in the graphics and gameplay but this time around EA Sports have done really well correcting this. Overall the graphics for FIFA 13 are a massive step up from FIFA 12 and does make this the best looking football game so far to date. Now the sound effects for FIFA is usually a hit or miss and I still feel this is something EA has not perfected. It is however better than the last FIFA game and this is mainly because the actual game effects sound really good and quite real. The crowds are still not right in my opinion, music is still a little off but it does have some better music and it does grow on you. Now the commentating? Well this is one part that can be good at times, bad at times and also weird at times. Its hard to describe because the commentating nowadays is a massive part of a football game. Overall I do like most of the sound effects but I still feel there is room for improvements. === DIFFICULTY AND LONGEVITY === The overall difficulty of FIFA usually depends on how good you are and what level you choose to play at. The Ultimate difficulty setting makes a return after a brief spell back in FIFA 12. Online gameplay usually depends on who you are playing and how good they are, usually quite mixed in terms of difficulty. There are numerous difficulty settings for all types of gamers which include amateur, semi-pro, professional, world class, legendary and ultimate in that order of easy to hard. I think amateur is pointless because its far too easy and the better gamers could do it blindfolded. I always play on ultimate but even now its quite easy with the team I have. Ultimate Team mode is great for difficulty because of all the different tournaments and leagues available to play with numerous different prizes. Also some can be played again and again but get harder. The controls for the game are reasonably good and fairly easy to get used to. Now longevity of the game really depends on how you feel about football, how much you play the game and how often you get on it. If like me you love football and play FIFA almost daily then I think within a few months you will get bored quite quickly and be looking for a new game to buy. If you go on a few times a week I think your patience will last a lot longer although it is football and can become frustrating. Usually the downside I have about FIFA is that EA Sports bring one out every year around the same time so it only lasts a maximum of one year. You're not going to want to play this much by the time FIFA 14 is out with all the updated teams, players, kits and all the new bits. Overall I think the length of the game is okay. === PROS === *The gameplay is amazing and no two games are ever the same. *The EASFC Catalogue is a fantastic idea and it really works well. *Improved Career mode considerably with a lot of new things added. *Ultimate Team mode returns with updates and looks even better than it did last year! *Shooting is crisper, passing is much better and the tactical defending is getting better! === CONS === *The first touch can be awkward and annoying at times. *No improvements really in terms of sound effects other than a few bits. *Its football so its always going to be annoying at some point. *More fun if you're connected to Xbox Live, if not there isn't an awful lot to do. *Stupid 5 minute rule. If you score before the timer reaches 5 minutes the other online player can quit and it wont count as a win for you or loss for them. === FINAL THOUGHT === We all expect FIFA to get better every year and this year is no different. All the added new bits make the game even better and could easily have set the bar for the next FIFA a little too high but only time will tell. FIFA 13 offers new features to its game modes and updated players, stadiums and more so what else could you ask for. Obviously the game can be really annoying at times, its still a fantastic football game and definitely the best one out there to date. I have spent many hours playing FIFA 13, even more so than FIFA 12 and previous FIFA games. The game has an age rating of 3+ and is suitable for all gamers with a difficulty setting for newcomers or even experienced gamers. I would definitely recommend the game to sport fans and fans of football because it truly is the best out there. If you get annoyed easily by football then be prepared because this game will have you ripping out your hair in no time! The price of the game varies depending on when you get it and where you get it from. I was outside Game at midnight on a Friday for the launch as I am a massive fan. It ended up costing me close to £50 because I got the Ultimate Edition. Luckily the game has dropped considerably now because its not too long before the next installment is out. The game can be picked up around £20-£25 which is quite good but you might want to wait for the next game now. === Website for more info? === If you would like more info on the game or future games then visit EA Sports official website. http://www.ea.com/uk/football/ FIFA gets better and better and still gets a massive 10/10 for me! == RESIDENT EVIL 6 == Resident Evil games have always been one of my favourite series even though they have gone from being a survival horror to a more action based and story driven series. Resident Evil 6 is a third person action game and the first Resident Evil game to feature a total of seven different playable characters with four different stories. Resident Evil 6 is available on the PS3 and PC as well as this Xbox 360 version. The game was published and developed by Capcom who are also the creators of games such as the Street Fighter series and the Dead Rising series. Resident Evil 6 for the Xbox 360 comes with two discs. Disc one is the game disc and disc two is a voice over disc full of different languages for the game. === STORY === Resident Evil 6 features a quality and easy to follow storyline. The game features four different stories, one for each character. Each characters story ends up clashing with the other characters throughout the game and this leads to the story becoming a little surprising with a few surprises. The game has a few new characters. Jake Muller one of the new characters is a mercenary and the son of the late bio-terrorist Albert Wesker (who was killed in Resident Evil 5 by Chris Redfield). Jake teams up with Sherry Birkin who's mission is to bring back Jake because his blood contains anti-bodies for the C-Virus. Elsewhere Chris Redfield makes his return with another newcomer Piers Nivans. Piers persuades Chris to rejoin the BSAA as their captain again. However, they are attacked by a Neo Umbrella agent known as Ada Wong but this is a clone of the actual Ada Wong. Leon Kennedy returns with another newcomer in Helena Harper and their mission revolves around rescuing Helena's sister and uncovering the truth behind the presidents death. Ada Wong's story is played alone and involves uncovering the truth behind the clone and also her story interacts with all of the other characters. === GAMEPLAY === Resident Evil has moved away from the survival horror features of the game and now features a more hands on approach with almost non stop action. This has upset a lot of fans but for me, I feel the game has taken a turn for the better. I loved the survival horror of the early versions of the Resident Evil series but I have to say I am slightly glad they decided to try something different. One of the better things about Resident Evil 6 is the four different stories with a total of seven playable characters. Leon, Chris and Jake all have a character each with them which are also playable in their respected stories. However Ada Wong is alone and is only a single player story. For example if you wanted to play through Leon's story, you wouldn't have to necessarily play as him because you can in fact play as his partner Helena and the same goes with Jake's story and Chris Redfield's. The game is a third person game in which the camera is basically shot over the shoulder of the main characters. You can alter the angle to be shot from either the left shoulder or right shoulder depending on which suits you better. Killing zombies and other enemies can lead to items such as herbs, bullets or even skill points to be dropped. Ammo can be hard to find in the game and its always best to keep your eyes open. There are many ways to kill enemies which include using several different guns, different grenades or even melee attacks can do the job. There are numerous types of enemies in the game with zombies and J'avo being the main threats. There are also many different bosses and a wide variety of places you will visit through your adventures. You also get the chance to drive a car, ride a motorcycle and even use a jet in the main story. One thing I loved about this Resident Evil was the fact if you was connected to Xbox Live it would find someone for you to co-op with in the main story (if you so wished). Or you could just play alone its entirely up to you. Story mode isn't the only game mode available to fans of the game but to play some of the other modes an Xbox Live membership is required and possibly Microsoft Points for game add-ons. Mercenaries mode is one of my favourite game modes and has featured in the last few Resident Evil games. Basically its a mixture of going on a killing spree against zombies whilst waiting for time to expire and racking up points on the side. You go around killing anything that moves such as zombies, zombie dogs and more. Killing these give you a little extra time but scattered throughout each level are time bonuses. You can also play this mode with a friend or over Xbox Live. Mercenaries mode is free to play to some extent but for a better experience it is recommended that you buy the map packs for more fun on different levels. Other game modes include Predator, Onslaught and Survivors with each having a different goal and involves a lot of fun. === GRAPHICS === Resident Evil 6 is a beautifully designed game in my opinion and certainly looks the part. The characters have always looked fantastic in the Resident Evil franchise and its no different in this installment. The new characters look equally as impressive as the old returning characters and to be honest they fit in the game perfectly and definitely have the Resident Evil look and feel. The places you visit in the game are all designed fantastically. Some of my favourite places to visit were in Chris Redfield's story because sometimes it felt like something new and different. Leon's places in his story seemed a little like some of the places in Resident Evil 2. Overall the graphics are fantastic and a real plus about the game! === SOUND EFFECTS === Resident Evil has always had really impressive sound effects and music in their games and Resident Evil 6 is no different. Firstly the music is original and just how a real Resident Evil game should be. Also the voice overs are fantastic and the acting is top notch. Something else that impressed me was the fact Capcom has made a voice over disc in multiple languages. The overall sound effects really shine when the all out action starts as it sound phenomenal. Some features such as footsteps from enemies can be heard and sound very real at times. === DIFFICULTY & LONGEVITY === Resident Evil 6 story mode features multiple difficulties including easy, normal, hard, veteran , pro and no hope. So it basically suits everyone. Online play difficulty usually varies depending on who you are playing with or against. Mercenaries difficulty setting is basically normal but it gets harder as your score gets better. Overall I feel the difficulty of the game is spot on by Capcom but I wouldn't recommend no hope until you get fully used to the ins and outs of the game. I do feel the length of the game is fantastic considering its about ten times longer than Resident Evil 5. The game features four different stories and each one is roughly between 8-12 hours in length but has lots of replay value. I have been through the game numerous times with friends and people over Xbox Live and the game has lasted me well over 6 months. Also with the variety of game modes online I do feel this game is good in length. === PROS === *A total of four different stories and a total of seven playable characters to play as! *Lots of enemies, upgrades, weapons and more all at your disposal. *An intriguing and easy to follow story full of surprises. *Mercenaries mode is a lot of fun with friends or on your own. *The graphics are fantastic, sound effects are great and the difficulty of the game varies. === CONS === *Fans of survival horror might be a little disappointed. *Other online game modes are good but its hard to find players online. *Lots of movies and talking might annoy some gamers. *Little bit glitchy at times but nothing too serious. *DLC is a little expensive and costs more than the actual game. === OVERALL === Overall I feel Resident Evil 6 isn't too far off the pace and excitement of Resident Evil 4. The game is definitely better than Resident Evil 5 in my opinion and I do think its wrong to put this with the first three games because they are totally different in many ways. I do feel number 6 has a tiny bit in Leon's story where it does feel like a survival horror game again but that is quickly diverted back into the action packed game that it is. I think the game being made into an action shooter is actually a good idea and I believe it works but I would like to see survival horror return one day. Silent Hill games seem to have taken over the Resident Evil games now for survival horror but hopefully one day Resident Evil will make a return. I do love this game for many reasons and some of which include the fantastic characters, thrilling storyline, great graphics and sound effects. It has a lot to offer fans and has tons of replay value to keep you very busy for months on end. I bought the game for £39.97 on release day but it has now dropped considerably and can be picked up for around £10! I think for what you get £10 is an absolute steal! Overall a fantastic game that I would give a rating of 8/10. Review also posted on Ciao under the username: MrBrightside1987
