      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      Worth the money!

I am not a big make-up wearer and in my make-up bag there is foundation, lipstick and mascara. I use these 3 items of make-up every single day, I am never without them.

For that reason I like good quality, hardworking products. I have found one in this Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara.

The mascara is quite well priced at £10 for a tube. It is available to buy from all Clinique counters and these counters can be found in high end department stores like Debenhams and Frasers. They can also be found in larger Boots stores.

I bought the mascara in black, it also comes in a black/brown shade.

      My results:
I have always had trouble applying mascara to my bottom eyelids and for that reason I was looking forward to trying this new product. When I open the mascara for the first time the colour is a pure black. The mascara looks shiny and very glossy.

The mascara is unfragranced, it really just smells like other mascaras. The tube the mascara comes in is both cute and pretty, it's a small tube, not much bigger than a lipstick, so it won't take up much room in your make-up bag.

The mascara brush is quite small, much smaller than usual mascara brushes. It is compacted with bristles, the bristles are not at all jaggy, they are soft and flexible. The mascara brush although quite small proves to be very easy to use. On my first attempt at coating my bottom lashes with this mascara I am quite amazed with my results. I experience no smudges or smears at all, my bottom lashes looks thicker and longer, it has been a very successful application and a long time since my bottom lashes have looked so good.

The mascara is waterproof and suitable for for all sin types. The mascara is easily removed with either face wipes or eye make-up remover.

All in all I really like this new concept in mascara from Clinique. If, like me you have trouble applying mascara to your bottom eyelashes then this is the must have product for you. As I said before it is quite a small tube of mascara but the mascara is true black and gives a shiny, glossy result. It really is the end of smudged, stuck together bottom eyelashes.

Good for the price and I really think this little tube of bottom lash mascara is going to be longlasting and worth the money.

This in my opinion is a 5 star product from Clinique.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        Good for deep wrinkles!

I was very lucky to receive 10 free samples of Dermalogica Power Rich. Each sample contains around 2mls of the product, 20mls of this product normally costs around £40, with the full size 50ml tube of this product costing £99. This equates to £2 per 1ml of product.

This Dermalogica Power Rich face cream has been specifically designed to be a maximum intensity cream using acid-free smoothing agents and skin regenerators designed to improve skin firmness and texture. It contains a blend of active botanicals includes Red Seaweed, Rice Extract, Soy Protein Phyoestrogens, Kukui Nut, Licorice and Multivitamins.

        My Results:
The texture of this Power Rich face cream is more like the texture of a serum than a cream. In saying that although it feels like a serum it is very thick. The actual product looks quite shiny, almost an off white colour. I have found in the past that most Dermalogica skincare products mostly smell the same with a very nice clean fresh scent. This product differs, the scent is not very clean or even fresh smelling. It smells quite sickly and smells very like marzipan.

The product instructions say to smooth this product around your eye area. This is where it seems to work best. It works by smoothing out wrinkles and fine lines around the eyes. I don't have wrinkles as such but I do have crows feet, fine lines.

I apply a very small amount of this product around my eyes, probably about a third of one ml. Although the texture is thick and serum like I have no problem adsorbing this product into my skin, it sinks in well. At this point the sickly smell of this product is almost overwelming!

I follow with my usual moisturiser and await results. I know that I am not going to get miracles overnight After 20 nights of using this product I have not really noticed any improvement at all, wrinkle wise, in the skin around my eyes. My crow's feet, fine lines really look the same as before I used the product.

The best effect I get from this product is that it has worked wonders in diminishing dark circles under my eyes, and these results have been prominent from almost the very first time I used the product. I think the thick serum like texture of this product sits on the actual dark circles and disguises them, while at the same time delivering lots of powerful plant ingredients to my eye area and making it fully moistuirsed. If you suffer from dark circles then it is worth either buying the product or trying to get some samples. As I said before this product works out at a cost of £2 per ml. One ml does for about 2 applications.

After my samples run out I won't be buying this product because it costs too much money, I like the one result I get from this product but to me that does not justify buying the full size tube.

If you have really pronounced wrinkled skin then I think this product would work, the texture would fill in the wrinkles and the intensive ingredients of the product delivers would help renew damaged and wrinkled skin.

        The actual product information says:

Power Rich rebuilds this vital matrix through its unique, merged technology of three interactive systems. When used daily for 30 days, this remarkable product stimulates cell regeneration and turnover for a fresher, firmer look.
Power Rich is virtually a hand made product comprised of 3 separate ingredient phases precisely blended to insure product quality and maintain integrity of this sensitive formula.

3 ingredient phases affect skin strength, smoothness and texture:
        Phase 1
Biostimulating botanicals including seaweed, wheat protein and soy treat the loss of strength, elasticity and moisture in skin.

        Phase 2
Smoothness is achieved with our acid-free smoothing agents that promote exfoliation without irritation, while stimulating cell renewal. Perfect for the "post-AHA" generation.

        Phase 3
Skin regenerators, protein peptides and vitamins improve skin texture and reverse signs of aging.

All in all I feel a lot of money has gone into researching and producing this product. If and when I do suffer from wrinkles I will know what to buy.

I am giving this Dermalogica product 4 stars, not 5 because it is so very expensive.

I hope that you have found my review helpful. I have used this product as directed and I have been completely honest about my results.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

It's really important to try a sample of this product before you buy the full size product.

I am very interested in skin care products and I have tried many products from leading skin care brands over the last 15 years. When a new 'wonder' product becomes available then I just have to try it.

Dermalogica products have been getting lots of good press lately and for that reason I have been trying some of them to see if they suit my skin.

The latest Dermalogica product I have been using is Dermalogica Age Smart Multivitamin Thermafoliant. I received 5 sample sachets of this product with my last order of a full size Dermalogica product. If you buy the full size tube of this product it costs around £33 for 75mls. Not cheap by anyone's standards!

        The Product:
Dermalogica Multivitamin Thermafoliant is part of the Dermalogica Age Smart range. This range has been developed for people who have concerns about skin ageing and wrinkles. There are other products in the Age Smart range which include moisturiser, eye cream, cleanser and toner etc.

Dermalogica Multivitamin Thermafoliant has been developed to be a powerful thermal skin polisher that combines physical and chemical exfoliants to refine skin texture and enhance penetration of age-fighting actives into skin while advanced technology ingredients condition and treat the skin.

The product has been specifically designed to:

        - Gently polishe off dulling skin cells to reveal smoother, fresher skin immediately.

        - Thermal technology activates upon contact with water to drive beneficial ingredients further into skin.

        - Provide antioxidant protection while suppressing the formation of AGEs.

        - Make Skin look and feel dramatically improved and smoother.

This product should be used after cleansing. To use, apply to damp skin in circular motions for 1 to 2 minutes, avoiding the eye area. A more intense result can be achieved by using directly on dry skin. Rinse thoroughly with warm water. Use two to three times per week.

        My Results:
I was keen to try this skin polisher as I don't really use a skin polisher in my usual skincare routine. I do however use an exfoliating scrub once a week. I have normal/combination skin with an oily t-zone. This product clearly states it is suitable for all skin types including mature and prematurely ageing skin.

I decide that to get really good results I am going to use this product straight onto my skin, I am not going to wet my skin first. I disperse about a 10p piece blob of the product and rub it into my face. The product is a very pale orange colour and it feels like a gel mixed with sand. As soon as the product reaches my face my skin feel warm, I think this is down to the thermfoliant. As the instructions state I begin to massage the product into my face in circular movements. This proves to be too painful, my skin is already sore and I have only massaged a small amount over my skin. I decide that I need to wet my face with hand hot water and try again.

This time it does not feel quite so painful on my skin but it still feel a bit uncomfortable. I continue for a few more seconds and then wash the product off my face. I am being honest in saying that it's a relief to get it off.

I observe my skin and look for results. My skin looks quite red and sore especially on my cheeks. Before I used this skin polisher I had exactly 3 Milia spots on my face around my left cheek.

Milia are deep seeded white bumps that form when skin cells and sebaceous matter become trapped rather than exfoliate naturally. Milia can occur anywhere on the skin and are prone around eye area and cheeks.

After using this skin polisher on only one occassion 2 of my Milia spots have gone completely and one has decreased in size. I am really happy about this because in the past I have had milia removed at a Beauty Salon. The technique to remove it involves a lance. Not an experience I would recommend!

This skin polisher was a bit too harsh for my skin, especially when I tried to use it without water. When it is on your skin your skin feels really warm and you can feel the thermafoliant working. When I used the product with water it was still incomfortable. I really feel that in the future I would just use this skin polisher only on areas of my skin with milia, I feel it is too harsh to use anywhere else.

The product washed off well and did not leave any residue. When I applied eye cream after using this product my skin was stinging, and whilst using this product I tried to avoid the eye area as much as possible. When I applied moisturiser my skin felt okay and did not sting. My skin was quite dry and I needed to use double the amount of moisturiser I usually use.

As I said before I will only be using this product once in a while to help remove milia. I can't recommend this product as I would hate anyone to spend over £30 on it and then to experience the same effects as I did.

If you have milia problems then my advice is try and get a couple of samples of this product and use it once in a while to help remove your milia. This product in my opinion is not very effective at anything else.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

Good price for all day skin hydration

I am very interested in skin care products and I have tried many products from leading skin care brands over the last 15 years. When a new 'wonder' product becomes available then I just have to try it.

Dermalogica products have been getting lots of good press lately and for that reason I have been trying some of them to see if they suit my skin.

The latest Dermalogica product I have been using is Dermalogica Skin Smoothing Cream. I bought 50mls of this cream at a cost of around £22 and this included postage. When the cream arrived it was packaged with 5 other Dermalogical samples. The samples are a fantastic way of trying products before you buy full size products.

        The Product:
The cream comes in a white plastic tube. The tube has the name of the product on the tube with directions for use on the back of the tube. The tube made completely from plastic can be recycled after use.

The moisturising cream is a medium-weight cream with soothing botanicals and antioxidant vitamins and has been developed to maintain skin's moisture balance while improving texture, helping to restore suppleness and tone.

        My Results:
Firstly it is very easy to get this cream out of the tube in a measured way so that you do not disperse too much and waste any of the cream. A very light squeeze of the tube is enough to disperse the cream. The tube is designed so that the cream sits above the lid of the tube, this design makes ease of use.

The cream is a very clean white colour, there is not much smell to the cream, it smells clean and fresh, there is nothing unpleasant about the smell. The texture of the cream is best described as being in between a lotion and a cream, the texture is not thick set and has some movement in it quite like a lotion.

The cream applies easily to my newly cleansed skin. There is not much rubbing in required with this cream, the light cream texture applies really well and sinks into my skin completely leaving no residue at all.

One application of the cream uses only a small amount of the cream, I would say about 1ml and the tube contains 50mls so if you are careful with the application of this cream then it could last you for 50 days, not bad at around £22 per tube.

My make-up applies evenly after using the cream and I can apply it almost straight away, the creams absorption is so effective that I don't have to wait, great for morning use.

My skin feels soft and smooth after using this cream. I have combination skin with an oily t-zone. The cream delivers moisture to all my skin and copes well even with the combination element to my skin.

I manage to get all day moisturisation from this cream, it smoothes out fine lines and rough dry patches of skin, basically I think this is down to the fact of the full moisturised effect you get when using this cream. I don't feel that this cream diminishes fine lines and wrinkles, but it does plump up skin and disguise wrinkles and fine lines.

I really think this cream is best suited as a product for using during the day, I prefer to use a thicker, richer cream moisturiser at night.

In my opinion this is a very good moisturiser, it offers all day hydration, it has a lovely texture which absorbs really well and best of all it is reasonably priced, around £22 for 50 days use makes this cream quite affordable.

I am beginning to like and trust Dermalogica products, they really work well and deliver good results.

        5 Star product

I am very interested in skin care products and I have tried many products from leading skin care brands over the last 15 years. When a new 'wonder' product becomes available then I just have to try it.

Dermalogica products have been getting lots of good press lately and for that reason I have been trying some of them to see if they suit my skin.

The latest product I have tried is the Dermalogica Multivitamin Power Recovery Masque. This product is part of the Dermalogica Age Smart range. This range has been designed for mature skin.

        The Product:
The Masque comes in a plastic tube containing 75mls of the masque. This full size 75ml tube costs around £25 and is available to buy from online stores like Beautyflash and Salonskincare.

The masque had been designed to be an intensive masque of concentrated vitamins and botanical extracts to calm environmentally-stressed skin. Firming Vitamin A increases elasticity and moisture content while antioxidant Vitamin C aids in collagen synthesis, restoring suppleness. Vitamin E and Pro-Vitamin B5 promote healthy tissue regeneration, while calming botanical extracts of Licorice, Comfrey and Burdock soothe the skin. The masque is completely fragrance free.

        My Results:
The masque is very easy to disperse from the tube, a gentle squeeze is enough and this allows a small amount of the product to leave the tube. I use roughly about 2 blobs of the masque and this covers my whole face. I follow the directions on the tube which say apply masque to face and throat and leave on for 10 to 15 minutes, then rinse off with warm water.

The masque is a very light orange colour, the texture is quite thick but despite the thickness of the product it is very easy to apply and covers my face and throat well. The masque smells a bit like almonds, it's not an unpleasant smell but at the same time not a scent you would want to wear all day as it's slightly sweet snd sickly.

When I have the masque on my face it feels very light, I go about with the masque on for the full 15 minutes and it's so light that at times I forget I have got it on my face. When it is on my face it is quite invisible as the very slight orange colour blends with my pale skin, I just look slightly tanned.

After 15 minutes I wash off the masque with some hand hot water. The masque washes off really well and leaves no residue at all. Even after one application I notice that my skin is rejuvenated looking and it is soft and moisturised. My skin is plumper than before I used the mask and I can notice a difference in the dark circles under my eyes, they are not nearly so dark looking and look as if they have been filled in! I think this is down to my skin being fully moisturised. I am very impressed with this masque and amazed that I have achieved this effect after only one application.

I have been using this masque once every week and the effects are still very good, though not as good as the results I received after the first application.

The masque really does rejuvenate my skin, I have normal skin with an oily t-zone and this masque has copied well even with the oily part of my skin. The nicest thing about using this masque is that when you remove it from your skin it leaves your skin pumped up and full of moisture, I don't even need to use moisturiser after using the masque.

The masque is not cheap but the tube contains 75mls of product which I think if used once a week will last about 4 months. If you are concerned about dark circles and fine lines then this may just be the product for you. The only thing I dislike about the masque is the smell. Even though it is fragrance free there is still quite a sweet sickly smell attached to this masque. Apart from the smell I really think this masque is really effective and a very good buy.

I bought the masque online and when the masque arrived the package contained 4 Dermalogica sample size products. This is a great way of trying Dermalogica products before you buy full size products.

All in all a great product from Dermalogica.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        Worth the Money!

I bought this Clinique High Impact Curling Mascara from Debenhams and it cost £13.50. I bought the mascara in black but it is also available to buy in a black/brown colour. I opened the two sample mascaras on display at the Clinique Counter at Debenhams and I honestly could not see any difference between the black colour and the brown/black colour. In the end I just decided to just stick with my usual black shade.

        The Product:
The mascara comes in a very classy looking silver case. The case is made from plastic which can be recycled after use. To get to the mascara you just twist of the lid, the lid contains the brush. The brush is made up of lots of tiny plastic bristles and it is curved in shape. The bristles are soft and smooth, they are not at all harsh or rough.

        My Results:
The mascara applies well. It is a very rich and thick textured mascara. There is no fragrance at all with this mascara. I apply two coats of the mascara to my eyelids. I experience no clumping at all with this mascara even while wearing two coats of the mascara. I am happy with the results. My eyelashes look much richer in colour and much fuller, they are glossy and look much longer than before I applied the mascara.

The mascara looks good, it is not a magical curling mascara, really this mascara just enhances the tips of your eyelashes with a slight curled effect and this is down to the curved mascara brush. The brush helps to curl and coax your lashes so they look upturned. I have used normal Clinique High Impact Mascara and you get all the same effect as this Clinique High Impact Curling Mascara except the curled, upturned eyelash effect. They are both very good and very effective mascaras.

This mascara is ophthalmologist tested and suitable for contact lense wearers. This mascara is not waterproof. it is very easily removed with cotton pads and warm water and also with eye make-up remover.

All in all I like this mascara. It does have a slightly curling effect and it does make my eyelashes look much more defined, thicker and fuller. It applies really easily with the brush and it is very easy to remove at the end of the day.

It is long lasting and this one full size 8ml tube has lasted me nearly 3 months. This is a really lovely mascara from Clinique. I highly recommend it.

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

          Not for me

I recently received a 100ml sample of this Dermalogica Conditioning Body Wash.

The body wash is available to buy in two sizes, 237mls costs around £17 and the bigger size 473mls costs around £25. The body wash is available to buy from all Dermalogica stockists and online at stores like SalonSkincare and Fragrancedirect etc.

          The Product:
The body wash comes in a white plastic bottle. The bottle has a pump at the top of the bottle. The pump makes it very easy to dispense this product, a couple of pushes of the pump is enought to release the body wash. The bottle made completely from plastic has the Dermalogica name on the front of the bottle and directions for use on the back of the bottle. The bottle can be recycled after use. The bottle is quite plain but it has been designed perfectly to hold and dispense the body wash.

The product has been marketed to be a rich, skin-conditioning botanical cleanser for the entire body. Soap-free Quillaja Saponaria extract thoroughly cleanses the skin, leaving it feeling soft and silky. Essential oils of Tea Tree, Lemon, Eucalyptus and Rosemary gently purify without stripping the skin's own natural moisturizers. The soothingly fragrant essential oils of Sandalwood, Lavender, Orange and Clary Sage moisturize the skin, leaving it smooth and conditioned. The product is completely fragrance free.

          My Results:
I like Dermalogica products but in the past my experience of Dermalogica products has stopped at face products. I was quite surprised to see that the body was is fragrance free. One of the nicest things about a body wash for me is the scent, it helps to wake me up in the morning and the fragrance left over from the wash usually lasts on the skin for day long freshness. With this product there is no chance at all of this.

The pump works well and when you see the actual body wash it is a thick body wash, not at all luminous or see through. The body wash has the familiar Dermalogica clean smell with no hint at all of any other smell. This seems a shame as the ingredients list of this body wash has lots of lovely smelling plants like Sandalwood and Lavender. I have noticed that a lot of the Dermalogica face products have this same clean smell. It's not unpleasant in any way but as I said before not my first choice of scent for a body wash.

The body wash when activated with water has a lovely foaming action and this is achieved with using only a tiny amount of product. When the foam touches your skin it is smooth and it rinses away really easily, it takes not effort at all to use this body wash.

The wash leaves my skin very clean, very soft and completely oil and dirt free. It has a wealth of lovely natural ingredients proven to be kind to skin. Even the 100ml sample size I have of this product lasts for ages, it has terrific foaming action that rinses away well and leaves no residue.

All in all this product works well. If you are in the market for fragrance free products then you will love this body wash. If like me you like scented body wash then this is really not for you.

            Advantages

            Disadvantages

Comes in a variety of colours.

I was recently given this item from Clarins. My sister has recently been abroad and she bought me this from the Duty Free. She knows I love Clarins items and she thought I would like this one! She is my big sister and she said she bought me this for Easter rather than an Easter Egg, as I could do without the calories!!!

It was very kind of her to buy me this blusher, but I have one slight problem, I don't and never have worn blusher. When I have applied blusher in the past the effect was not good and I could easily pass for a circus clown!

            The Product:
The product looks lovely, I really like make-up, except blusher. The packaging of the blusher is fantastic, compact style with built in mirror and applicator brush. Looks fab, really classy and really pretty, just what you would expect from Clarins!

The product is designed to be silky to the touch and extremely light and comfortable, the texture delivers luminous, long-lasting, customised colour to suit every taste, for an even, natural-looking make-up result.

The colour of my blusher is 01 Lovely Rose. To describe this colour I would say that is it a very light pink colour, not nearly as deep a pink as a rose, just very pale and delicate pink. The texture is very soft, it is the softest blusher I have ever seen, velvety to touch and really smooth. The blusher has no smell at all.

            My Results:
I use the brush to apply the blusher. The brush bristles are soft and very smooth, they do not feel harsh when you sweep them over your cheeks. The blusher sticks well to the brush, it goes exactly where you put it and it needs very little blending.

My cheeks looks a bit like peaches and cream, they are not rosy or clown like but they are very illiminated and this look does not suit me at all, it's very foreign to my face.

Basically even if I apply a tiny amount of the blusher to my face it is noticeable. It make skin look luminous and gives a gentle pink colour to your cheeks. The colour is longlasting and the blusher removes easily with make-up remover. It is longlasting and one very small application lasts all day long.

If I was a blusher wearer then I would think about buying this product again, since I am not I have been using it as a very light illuminating product and I sweep a tiny amount over my face, the tiniest amount possible, it gives my skin a lovely glow and it stays put.

All in all a nice blusher available in a variety of shades, but really I would have preferred an Easter Egg!!

I give this blusher 4 stars for the easy of use of this product, the good design of the brush and the lasting factor of the product. Not 5 stars because of the price, when I looked at this item on the Clarins website I see that it costs almost £25!!

              Advantages

              Disadvantages

              Lots of colours available

I like Clarks shoes and because I usually find them a good fit I tend to try Clarks for shoes before I try elsewhere. I am lucky to have quite a large Clarks shop in my High Street and in the past I have also purchased shoes from Clarks online. If you want to buy shoes from Clarks online but you don't want to pay a delivery charge then you can get your shoes delivered to your nearest Clarks Shop free of charge.

I have been looking for a good solid shoe to walk in, preferable a pair that you can just pop on without wearing socks, pop socks etc under them. I usually stick to black because it goes with everything.

Clarks shoes are not cheap, I go shopping looking for walking shoes with a budget of around £50, I know from past purchases that they will probably cost that much, maybe more.

I have a good look round the shop and I am instantly drawn to Clarks Echo Wave shoes. The shoes are made from black leather. They look quite sporty and have a Mary Jane type bar across the front of the shoe to fasten them. This fastener is fully adjustable because the strap closes with velcro, this works well and will adjust to any foot size.

The shoes have a rather sporty looking heel, it looks like one wedge that runs along the full length of the shoe. At it's highest point it is no more than about 1.5 inches. I like this, I never buy flat shoes as I am so used to wearing shoes with a heel, these are a good compromise as the wedge means the shoes are not flat and it compensates for a heel.

The shoes are vented at the side and at the front, I have found this helps to keep feet cool and comfortable, though not really suitable for outside in winter.

The shoes incorporate Clarks WaveWalk technology. This allows you to walk for longer with less effort. The shoes feature a special Wave-shaped sole which aids the foot's natural movement, while an angled heel and shock-absorbing sole heel protect feet.

              My Views:
I have now been wearing these shoes for about 4 weeks. The first time I wore them they felt a bit odd, the wedge sole takes a bit of getting used to. I felt as if I was stumbling about a bit in these shoes. The shoes are well padded inside, and the adjustable strap works really well. It takes a couple of adjustments to get it just right. The shoes do not rub on any parts of my feet, the leather on the inside of the shoes is soft and supple. I can walk for miles in these shoes and after 4 weeks wear they have shown almost no sign of wear at all.

All in all they do exactly what they say, basically they are just extremely comfortable, I think this is down to the whole design of the shoe. I have never worn shoes with WaveWalk technology but I am positive that the design has contributed to making these shoes very wearable and very comfortable.

The shoes cost £59.99. They are available in sizes 3 to size 8 with half sizes available. The shoes are the normal D fit, so if you are looking for a bigger fit then these shoes are not for you. The shoes come white, pewter, raspberry nubuck, light blue nubuck, navy newbuck and the ones I choose, Black.

I like these shoes so much that I am now saving up to buy a pair in the light blue nubuck colour.

I am only giving these shoes 4 stars because of the price. Nearly £60 is a lot of money for a pair of shoes.

                Advantages

                Disadvantages

Good product, does exactly what it says on the tube.

I am a big fan of Clarins Products and I particulary like Clarins face creams. Clarins products are available to buy online at many retailers including Cheapsmells, Salonskincare and Feelunique. Clarins counters are based in larger department stores like Debenhams, larger Boots and House of Frasers.

A good time to buy Clarins products is when they have their gift time offers. You have to buy 2 Clarins items and get to choose up to 4 deluxe size samples of other Clarins products. Firstly if you are buying Clarins products anyway then you get the deluxe samples free of charge and secondly the samples are a great way of trying new products before you buy them. The sample sizes are usually 15mls so this gives you enough of the product to try the item properly over a couple of weeks and lets you decide if it is right for you and you want to buy it.

                The Product:
Clarins Sun Wrinkle Control Cream Very High Protection SPF 30.

The sun cream comes in a white plastic tube, the tube has the Clarins name and logo on the front of the tube and instructions for use on the back of the tube. The tube made completely from plastic, can be fully recycled after use. The tube holds 75mls of the sun cream and the cheapest price I have found this sun cream at is for £13.00 at Salonskincare. This price includes free delivery. The cream can also be bought at any Clarins counters or at many online stores. The price of the cream at Clarins counters is nearly £21, hence it is probably better to buy it online.

The cream is marketed to be ideal protection for sun-sensitive skin or skin exposed to intense sunlight. Provides reinforced sun protection with photostable and heat-resistant UVB-UVA filters. Combining efficacy with the most incredible texture, it protects against dehydration as well as helping to prevent the visible signs of premature skin ageing.

We need to be concerned about UVB-UVA filters. When researching UVB-UVA filters I found this information on Wikipedia - because Ultraviolet (UV) light is electromagnetic radiation with a wavelength shorter than that of visible light, but longer than X-rays, in the range 10 nm to 400 nm, and energies from 3eV to 124 eV. It is so named because the spectrum consists of electromagnetic waves with frequencies higher than those that humans identify as the colour violet.

Although ultraviolet is invisible to the human eye, most people are aware of the effects of UV through the painful condition of sunburn, but the UV spectrum has many other effects, both beneficial and damaging, to human health.

UV light is found in sunlight and is emitted by electric arcs and specialized lights such as black lights. It can cause chemical reactions, and causes many substances to glow or fluoresce. Most ultraviolet is classified as non-ionizing radiation. The higher energies of the ultraviolet spectrum from about 150 nm ('vacuum' ultraviolet) are ionizing, but this type of ultraviolet is not very penetrating and is blocked by air.

                My Results:
When I open the tube the cream is off white in colour. The cream is rich and dense, it applies really easily and is very easily absorbed. I usually find the higher the SPF of suncream has then the thicker the cream is, this is not the case with this suncream, it is a lovely texture and very easy to apply. It does not leave you with white streaks of unabsorbed cream on your skin.

The cream smells like many other Clarins products I have used, it has a very cleam smell and smells a bit like almonds. The smell is not at all overpowering and it won't intervere with your perfume etc. It is just a very pleasing, clean and fresh scent.

A little of the cream goes a long way, for a full application I use about one tenth of the tube, there is really a possibility that this cream might last for 10 days use. The cream is not waterproof and for this reason it may now be suitable for many people.

The cream needs to be reapplied on a regular basis, when I reapply the cream my skin feels quite moisturised so I don't need to use much to top up my sun protection.

The sun is a known cause of wrinkles, as you get older you become much more aware of this, when you are young you have other things to think about!

I worry about wrinkles and I want ot keep my skin in as good a condition as possible. This is what attracted me to this cream in the first place.

I get good results from using this cream. Firstly it has a high SPF of 30, this makes sure that my skin does not burn. Secondly it leave my skin very moisturised. It does not cure wrinkles but it offers protection from getting any more wrinkles, I can honestly say this cream is like an insurance policy against wrinkles.

The cream applies easily, it moisturises skin, it washes off easily and best of all it has great sun protection. Although this cream is expensive a little goes a long way. The design of the tube means you just dispense as much as you need so there is no waste.

If like me you are concerned about skin damage then I can recommend this sun cream. It really is one of the best sun creams I have ever used, the only downside to this sun cream apart from it's expensive price tag is that it is not waterproof. For this reason I am only awarding this cream 4 stars.

If you are going to buy this cream then you need to shop around for the best price.

                  Lovely scent from Chanel

Chanel Coco Mademoiselle Eau de Parfum is a truly lovely fragrance. In the past my favourite Chanel fragrance has been Chanel No5. I have honestly been wearing this fragrance for years and I felt like a change.

I decided to try the Coco Mademoiselle because firstly the tv ads were very provocative and alluring, they conveyed the right message to me - I need to have this fragrance! Secondly it really does smell lovely, it's one of the best fragrances I have ever used.

I had seen the tv ads and I had tried a spray of the perfume from the fragrance counter in Debenhams, now I just needed to get my husband to buy me it for Christmas.

Christmas arrived and luckily for my hubby so did the perfume! He had bought me the 35ml glass bottle of the Eau de Parfum and from checking various websites I know that this costs around £45.

                  The Perfume:
The perfume comes sealed in a white cardboard box. When you remove the bottle of perfume from the box it is in perfect condition. The box can be recycled after use, it has not however made from recycled cardboard.

The actual perfume bottle is glass. It's a lovely square shaped bottle with what looks like a glass stopper on the top of the bottle. Looks can be deceptive, to get to the perfume you actually pull off the stopper and that reveals a spray nosel. The glass bottle has the Chanel logo on the front of the bottle and the name of the perfume. The whole bottle has class written all over it, literally. It is elegant and not overly decorative. It looks fantastic on the dressing table, I love this perfume bottle!

The perfume sprays evenly from the bottle. As soon as you spray the perfume the scent fills the air. The perfume scent has been created from my two favourite scents, may rose and Jasmine, it's no wonder that I like this perfume so much.

In my opinion the perfume has top notes of oranges, bergamot and grapefruit, with the strongest top note being the grapefruit. Middle notes of rose extract and jasmine extract, along with a fruity touch of litchi, with the strongest scent being the jasmine. Base notes of patchouli, Haitian , vanilla and white musk.

This perfume is a floral feast of jasmine, rose and white musk. The musk makes the florals take on a new scent so don't expect this perfume to be a delicate floral scent for shrinking violets! It's a powerful, confident and sexy scent, wear just a little during the day and a lots more at night.

To sum up the fragrance, when you first spray it it smell of musky and quite spicy rose and jasmine, as the perfume settles down you can smell the bergamot and grapefruit still laced with the musk but not nearly as string. After wearing the fragrance for a while the smell stays quite floral but you can still detect the musk with a faint scent of vanilla.

It really is a lovely fragrance, I have never smelt anything quite like it, it is quite unique and great for high days and holidays!

                    Advantages

                    Disadvantages

Good value Lip Balm that really works.

I like Clarins skincare products but they are not cheap products, they are more like top to middle of the range, expensive products. I only ever buy Clarins products when they are on promotional offer. The offer I like best is the one when you buy 2 full size Clarins products you get to choose 4 deluxe size samples of Clarins products. These 4 samples alone can be worth over £40, depending on which samples you choose.

The last Clarins product I have bought is this Clarins Colour Quench Lip Balm in shade 11 Poppy. I bought it from Cheapsmells at a cost of £8.95. It is also available to buy at other online stores like Salon Skincare and Fragrancedirect. You can also buy it at all Clarins Cosmetic Counters and these can be found in shops like Debenhams and larger Boots.

                    The Product:
The lip balm comes in a plastic tube and the tube contains 15mls of the lip balm. The tube made completely from plastic, has a small applicator towards the end of the tube. The tube has the name of the product on the front of the tube along with the colour of lip balm you are buying. The reverse of the tube has the instructions for use. The whole plastic tube can be recycled after use.

                    My Results:
This lip balm comes in a variety of colours, there really is a wide range of colours and shades available and you would be hard pushed not to find a colour to suit you. I choose the Poppy - shade 11 colour. This colour is true poppy, it is exactly the colour of the Poppy flower. It is rich, deep colour, the colour really does look great.

This coloured lip balm has been marketed to be a lip balm in a tube which offers a superb make-up result and real lip care benefits. Transparent and natural-looking, lips are dressed in fruity, luminous colour. It perfectly nourishes and repairs lips, ensuring optimal comfort. And its delicious cherry fragrance is simply irresistible.

You can apply this product with a lip Brush either alone or over lipstick. It leaves lips supple and well-moisturised thanks to plant ingredients with softening and repairing benefits: extracts of Shea Butter, Wild Mango and Olive perhydrosqualene. Derivatives of Vitamins A and E reinforce the repairing action and protection.

I decide to apply this product to my bare lips and not over lipstick. The poppy colour I have bought is rich enough on it's own and really I just want to have it at hand to use quickly. I want a moisturised effect with some colour for during the day. I think the colour may be a bit too rich to apply over lipstick, also this lip balm is quite thick and it would end up looking as if I had used to much product if I use it over lipstick.

The lip balm applies well with a lip brush. It's quite a heavy lip balm and the colour looks both rich and quite luminous. After one application my lips look good, they look supple and the colour from the lip balm looks good. Really just what I wanted moisture with added colour.

The lip balm tastes good, it is very fruity and there is no artificial taste at all to this product.

I have found this lip balm needs to be reapplied every couple of hours, I am okay with this as it is after all a lip balm and also it is quick and easy to apply. I get a great moisturising effect from this lip balm, it's a pleasure to wear.

A little of the lip balm goes along way and I really think that this 15ml tube will last for ages.

All in all this lip balm is worth every penny, it works really well, it tastes good, the colour is fantastic and it works well to protect lips from the elements.

                    Another great Clarins product!

                      Advantages

                      Disadvantages

Good price and is available in a range od sizes.

I live outside a village and my house is surrounded by fields. I like feeding wild birds and in the past I have always put leftover bread etc out into my back garden for the birds. This used to work well, the bread attracted lots of birds and they always ate all the bread.

Last month my youngest cat Ruby brought a friend home with her! It was a little blue tit and after being brought into the house in Ruby's mouth it was very near to death. I managed to get Ruby to drop the bird and I managed to free him. The next day Ruby was again in the garden hiding in the bushes, waiting for the bread to be throw out for the birds.

After the carry on the previous day I decided that I would need to change the way I feed the birds. I went to my local Garden Centre and bought a Gardman Wild Bird Seed Feeder. This bird seed feeder comes in 3 different sizes.

The small 20cm size costs £6.99, the medium 27cm size costs £9.99 and the large 40cm size costs £14.99. Like most people I have to watch what I spend. I decided to buy the small feeder at £6.99, a large pack of bird seed to fill it and a pack of 6 fat balls to hang beside the feeder. The total for the 3 items was nearly £10 and I really felt this was enough to spend as the previous bread feeding had cost me nothing at all.

This bird seed feeder is also available to buy from Amazon.

The bird feeder is made from galvanised steel. Galvanised steel is steel that has been coated with zinc in order to prevent rusting / corrosion. This will help to ensure that this bird feeder lasts more then a few winters.

To fill the bird feeder with seed you just twist of the lid of the feeder and fill the feeder with seed. It is easy to remove the lid, no strength is required. After you have filled the feeder you just twist the lid back on to the feeder.

The seed is held in a clear polycarbonate feed chamber. This holds the seed well and as it is clear the birds can see the seed and they soon work out how to get to it.

The feeder has a large hoop at the top of the feeder. This hoop can be attached to tree branches, fences and bird houses. It has proved to be a secure way of hanging the feeder. The feeder when filled with seed is not too heavy for the hoop, it still works fine at hanging the seed feeder.

The bird feeder should be emptied and washed out on a regular basis, within time you will see bird droppings on it and if you don't clean it then you risk birds spreading disease. It is easy to empty and wash. A quick wash with soapy water, then a rinse and then just dry it with kitchen paper. I have found this works fine to keep the bird feeder clean.

The RSPB now recommend that wild birds are fed all year round. However, it is particularly important during autumn, winter and spring when naturally occuring foods are in very short supply.

Ensure feed is available first thing in the morning, this will help them replace energy lost through the night, and again at mid-afternoon to help them to build up some reserves as night falls.

Once you have started feeding the birds do not stop as they will come to rely on the food you put out.

All in all this is a good bird feeder, it has proved to be a good buy at a reasonable price. It is also available in a variety of sizes. I like the fact that it is made from galvanised steel as this means it won't rust and fall apart. As I said before it is easy to fill and easy to empty and clean.

It works well at attracting lots of small birds in to my garden and the birds sit for ages feeding on the seed. I have placed the feeder at the front of my garden, my cats don't have access to this part of the garden.

Ruby and her 2 sisters love to sit on the inside windowsills watching the birds eating from the feeder. They get excited and chatter. For the non cat owners chattering is a quite distinctive teeth chattering sort of noise that seems reserved specifically for when cats see birds, whether outside or on television. Actually, that noise may be more of an instinct than we realize. Many feline behavior specialists have noted the similarity of that noise to the special neck bite that cats use in the wild designed to kill a bird or small rodent quickly and efficiently, before they have a chance to struggle. Young kittens and cubs in the wild have the opportunity to practice this special bite; house cats may just be showing their excitement at seeing potential prey, or possibly their frustration (with the excitement, too) in seeing potential prey that they cannot get to. Many times, you may notice that your cat's tail is getting puffy, or is twitching in a special way that accompanies his special chattering noises.

My cats chatter away at the birds for a while and then they usually fall asleep, it's really is a cats life!

                        Advantages

                        Disadvantages

                        Make a nice gift.

I visit B&Q on a regular basis for gardening supplies. On my last visit I bought a venetian type window box (trough) for the price of £4.50. The window box/trough is made completely from Terracotta and is 61 cms long. The window box/trough is also available to buy in a 32cm size. B&Q stock lots of different types of terracotta pots, some troughs, some round tubs and some square shaped tub/troughs. The troughs/pots are widely available to buy from most B&Q stores.

B&Q Terracotta range is very well priced and it is the cheapest place I know for terracotta pots/troughs.

The window box is made completely from Terracotta. Terracotta is an Italian term for "baked earth", a clay-based unglazed ceramic.

The terracotta, baked earth, the window box is made from is quite thick and very light red in colour - terracotto. The window box is quite light and you can easily move it around. It become much heavier when you fill it with soil and then becomes a lot harder to move around the garden. If you have bought the larger size terracotta window box then it often works out much easier to plant them up in situ.

The window box is very good for planting spring flowering bulbs in, like mini daffadils and mini tulips. The window box is not all that deep, about 30cms. For this reason you have to make sure that you do not plant anything in them that grows too tall. If you planted normal daffodils in this window box then they would grow to big and the dept of the trough would not be able to hold the daffodils and they might just fall over. This is because the window box is not deep enough to hold the daffodil bulb and plant, there is not enough soil in the box to give the bulb and plant stability as it grows.

I use my window box for, as I said before for small spring flowering bulbs. Whe the bulbs are past their best I then replant the box with Petunias and Begonias for summer flowering. These two plants work well as they do not grow too tall, and the window box holds them well. When the Petunias and Begonias are past their best I then plant Winter Pansies in the box. These again like the other plants are quite small in height, they grow well in a box. Hence the window box is used all year long and is great value for money.

I really like these terracotta products but there is one downside. The Terracotta is not glazed and hence not frost proof and therefore if you leave them out in exposed places in winter and they come into contact with frost then the terracotta cracks. If you don't have the room to store these pots in a garage or shed over winter and you just leave them out then they will not last long. If you store them over winter in sheds or your garage then they will last for many years.

If your terracotta does crack then there is still a use for the cracked material. Break up the broken terracotta into smaller pieces and next time you are filling a larger terracotta pot, say the 40cm size, put some of the broken terracotta pieces at the bottom of your large pot. This saves on the amount of soil you will need to use to fill the pot.

Another good use for this terracotta window box is to fill it with soil and then plant up your plug plants (small plants not ready to go outside) let the small plants grow away in the terracotta box inside your greenhouse. Then when the plants are ready to go outside you have ready filled window boxes, perfect for patios/windowsills.

All in all I really like these terracotta products, they are very good value, they are available in a variety of sizes and are sold in most B&Q Stores.

They are nice to give as gifts and on Mother's Day I gave my mum a terracotta window box filled with mini tulips and daffodils, my mum loved it.

These window boxes really do make lovely gifts. They are very good value and look great in the garden.

                          Disadvantages

Look great on my patio and great to grow cherry tomatos in.

I visit B&Q on a regular basis for gardening supplies. I have bought many of these pots in the past in a variety of sizes. The pots are widely available to buy from most B&Q stores.

The pots come in sizes that range from 20cms to 40cms. The size I most commonly buy is the 23cm size and they currently cost £1.50 each, a bargain in anyone's book.

The pots are made completely from Terracotta. Terracotta is an Italian term for "baked earth", a clay-based unglazed ceramic.

The terracotta, baked earth, the pots are made from is quite thick and very light red in colour - terracotto. The pots are quite light and you can easily move them around. The pots are much heavier when you fill them with soil and they become a lot harder to move around the garden. If you have bought the large size terracotta pot then it often works out much easier to plant them up in situ.

The pots have holes in the bottom of them to drain out water, this also saves you from overwatering your plants.

I really like these terracotta pots but there is one downside. They pots are not frost proof and therefore if you leave them out in the winter and they come into contact with frost then the pots crack. I have two very large terracotta pots, over 40cms. Every year I plant cherry tomoato plants in them, this works well and I always have a good crop of tomoatos, works out better for me than using growbags.
