This is a hair repair serum that can be put on to wet of dry hair after washing, it claims to be a miracle cure for dry split hair. I picked this up at boots on one of the 3 for 2 offers across the hair care range, at the moment this product is in a 2 for £7 offer on mark hill, products. I purchased two of these again recently because of this bargain. The price of one with no offers is £7.14, which can seem pretty steep for such a small amount, just 50ml, so I would suggest you get it on offer but would not say it was a rip off at full price.
I have tried putting it on wet hair and dry hair, and found damp slightly towel dried hair works best, followed by the usual blow drying. This is because I found when putting it on dry hair, it some times looked a little greasy rather than healthy. This product is a very small bottle but I found that a little went a long way, a tiny drop is all that was required, even for my rather long hair.
Now im not going to call this product a miracle, but it certainly made a noticeable difference. My rather dry hair looks much healthier after using this product, and it even feels less dry. I have been using this product for a few months now, and at first I noticed no change to my split ends, and now I notice that while still existing, my split ends are less obvious, and since you cant get rid of slip ends with out a hair cut, this was the best I could hope for.
The smell is just wonderful, a nice fresh smell, the same signature smell as the other mark hill hair products I have used. This product may exaggerate to be called a miracle, but its still pretty good and worth the money, I will continue using this until I find something better, as I do really like the results it gives. I am afraid I may have to admit that with out a hair cut, my very damaged hair will never be repaired to full health. But I would seriously recommend this product for those with dry hair like mine.
I don't wear contact lenses as an everyday thing, but i have coloured ones which i sometimes like to wear...my vision isn't too bad, and i often misplace my contacts, so its pretty easy to just not bother to wear them. In the new year i decided i would try and wear them more often, as it cant be good for my eyes if i don't. While in vision direct, i saw this item, and it seemed so cute i just has to have one.
These were available in a wide range of colours and different animals, the ones i chose myself were the pink hippo ones and the purple elephant ones, but they also had pink pig ones, orange pigs, yellow frogs, blue bear ones, and a few others, sadly i cant remember them all...i was very happy with the wide range of choice, it took me a while to pick, and in the end i decided to buy two, since they were just over £3 each and i felt it was probably inevitable that i would lose one of them.
These are so much nicer to have then the plain and ordinary cases, they seem good quality, i have had them for months now, they do the job they are meant to do and look good doing it. I have managed to not lose them yet, and have stuck to my new years promise to wear my contact lenses from now on. It some how seems easier to not lose my contacts when they are in nice cases that i like, rather then plain ones that seem dull. i recommend these, they are only £3 and this is a small price to pay for such a cute item, you can pick the colour you want, and the animal you want, I am very glad that i saw these on my way out of vision direct, i have become pretty attached to these. With no faults I can thin of, I give these 5 starts.
I heard about these and just had the try them, the promises sounded just great, only problem was, they are not sold in the uk....no matter, a quick visit to ebid (ebid was cheaper than ebay when i looked, shopping around is well worth doing) i picked them up for just over £20...with free post and packaging. This stuff is enamel safe and dentist recommended so nothing to worry about there.
About the product...
This kit is a 20 day treatment kit, which promises high results. The claims are that, as the name of this product would suggest, you will get a professional level of whitening, and you will see results in just 3 days, even for teeth that are very dark yellow or brown. The kit contains 20 pouches, each pouch has two strips, one for you top set of teeth, one for the bottom, the instructions state to use them once a day for half an hour.
how easy were they to use?...
These were very simple to use, i tended to put them on before brushing my teeth in the evenings, you can still drink water with these on but nothing else. They did not slip, and once peeled from the plastic (agian, easily done) it was easy to see which way around they went, and which were for your top and bottom teeth, the half hour seemed no hassle, its easy to fit it in to my everyday life, i read for a bit before bed most nights, and this is when i used these, no hassle.
I did not start to see results after 3 days, but i did after about a week, and after 2 weeks it was a very noticeable difference, my teeth had never been so white. I didn't feel i had to use the last 5 or 6 pouches, and did so just because i always feel its best to follow the instructions given. I had many comments on the whiteness of my teeth, and i was very surprised that an at home whitening kit could achieve such results, i just loved these, and found myself smiling where ever i was, just to show off my new white teeth. My teeth were not too bad before, they were a dull cream colour, maybe a hint of yellow, and after using these as instructed they were a nice white colour, but not like a Hollywood bright white, but a nice white...the perfect kind of white.
It worked wonders for me, but as i have already said, my teeth were not too bad to begin with, the effect was exactly what i wanted, but if you were wanting more of a Hollywood white, this kit will stop just short of that, but for the price difference i would say this kit is a great idea.
would i buy again?...
well, while i loved this product it wasn't without its bad points, after using these for just over a week it started to make my teeth rather sensitive, my teeth are not prone to sensitivity and they began to ache rather a lot by the end of the second week, the ache was irritating and a little painful, but nothing too terrible, not nearly enough to make me stop using them when the effects were so wonderful. I used these nearly 8 months ago now, and the effects have started to dull down, i will probablty buy another one again at some point, possibly make it a yearly thing. I was a tad disapointed when the effects started to dull down, however it is not meant to last for ever, and for the sake of £20 its well worth if for more than 6 months of a perfect smile. A product i now swear by, telling everyone about it who comments on my smile. Worth the slight discomfort, and well worth the money, i recommend this product to anyone who wants a whiter smile, this is by far the best home whitening kit i have ever used, it may not be for everyone, but it was certainly for me.
Always looking for a new perfume, when this came out a few months back, I had to have it. After finishing the last of my current perfume I went into town, and into boots. My sister works part time at boots, so with her discount boots prices work out best for me, however, if you shop around online you could pick this perfume up cheaper. In boots it is available in 3 different bottle sizes, the largest being 100ml and by far the best value for money at £68.00, the 60ml bottle is £49.00 and the little 40ml bottle is £39.00. Since I get bored easily I went for the smallest size.
The bottles are clear round glass which contain a light pink coloured perfume which you can see, I like this because its easy to tell how much is left in the bottle, unlike with other perfumes I have tried. The bottle is also nicely textured, lovely looking, well presented bottle , and lovely pink print box. The perfume itself is very strong, and very sweet. It seems to last for hours on the skin, I wear perfume everyday, I find this is more of a night time fragrance due to the strong sweet seductive smell, I tend to wear something more subtle in the day time. The strength of this perfume means that even a very small bottle lasts a very long time as you do not need to use a lot.
I loved this perfume, but I do think it may not be to everyone's taste, some may prefer a smell that's more subtle, and some may see this a being a little too sweet. The smell is very unique and its one i recognise instantly, not at all similar to any other perfume I have had, I get many comments on it while wearing this. It really is a lovely perfume, but it is not my favourite that i have tried so far, despite this i may still buy again, as it is certainly up there. The price isn't great but it isn't bad either, and i know from experience that to get a good quality fragrance it is necessary and well worth it to spend more. I would recommend this perfume, but i suggest you go and look at a tested in boots before purchasing, since as i have already pointed out this may not be to everyone's taste.
I had never been a huge lipstick lover before recently, always being more of an eye make up person, but i decided i wanted to make a change. Since i was unsure at this point what kind of colour to go for, i didnt want to spend too much, but at the same time i didnt want the lipstick to be a terrible quality. Having heard good things about the collection 2000 lasting colour lipstick, i decided to give it a try, after all, its only £2.99 from boots, so it wouldnt be like i was wasting much money if i decided that actualy i would never be a huge lipstick fan.
The cheap price was an instant upside to this product before even purchasing, the next possitive point i noted before the purchase was the huge range of colours, available in 11 different colours, i knew one of these would have to suit me, a colour for everyone and ever occasion. I purchased in 2 different colours, because while i love the red lipstick look, i wasnt really sure it it was for me, with my very dark hair and very pale skin i have often found it difficult to find things that suit my colouring. I purchased in cherry bomb and queen of hearts. Queen of hearts is a more intensive bright red, while cherry bomb is a slightly more subtle red lipstick, I loved having such a huge range of choice when deciding on a colour.
For such a cheap price i wasnt sure as to what kind of quality to expect, i was concerned that the lipstick may cause my lips to dry out, or that if would be easily smudges out of place. But these worries were soon put to rest. This lipstick lasts hours on a night out, even while drinking it does not seem to rub off on the glasses, which is pretty unusual for a lipstick. This was certainly not a waste of money, i found the lipstick even seemed to moisturise my lips which was a huge bonus. The lipstick itslef is a pretty basic design, plain black, take the lid off to reveal the gold inside, the collection 2000 logo on the top of the lid, very basic, very simple, a very good lipstick thats well worth the money.
I had never been a collection 2000 fan at all in the past, finding the make up to be a get what you paid for kind of thing, this lipstick has changed my mind. I do not see the point in trying out a different lipstick when everything i want in a lipstick can be purchased for £2.99, something that is to become an essential in my make up bag, i will be buying again, and maybe testing out some of the other shades, bright, long lastiing, perfect lipstick, i would recommend to anyone.
It was when shopping for a birthday gift for my boy friend that i found this, i have never been a huge fan of diesel fragrances, the female ones are even worse than the male ones, i find them in general to smell rather cheap, and often over powering. I spent almost an hour in boots smelling and re-smelling the different frangrence options (i get pretty obsessive about buying gifts, always wanting it to be perfect) i was pretty skeptical about this aftershave so it was one i didnt pick up until right near the end.
On spraying on to the testing strip, i knew he would love it, how could you not? A scent thats strong yet not to over powering, it is attention grabbing both in looks and smell. The bottle is shaped like a clenched fist, which is said to representing strength, self-confidence and bravery, which i think is a perfect representation of this unique and explosive fragrance. The bottle is a lovely shade of tinted blue glass. Although i must say the appearance is slightly ruined by the silver letters across the fingers "DIESEL" i feel this is a tacky touch to a beautifully designed bottle, but it is still not enough to ruin it. If i remember rightly, the fragrance comes in a white square box with blue writting printed largely across the box stating the name of the fragrance.
This fragrance comes in 5 sizes, so if your not sure about if this is for you, then your best getting the 35ml bottle, at £30 from boots, but i have no doubt that shopping around could get you this item at a much lower price, but since i purchased from boots the prices i list will be based on the prices at boots. There is also a 50ml bottle at £37.50, a 75ml bottle at £49.50 (this is the one i purchased) a 125ml bottle, which i think is new as im sure there were only 3 sizes when i was purchasing, and also a 200ml bottle, again, new. The odd thing about the 125ml bottle is that it is £48.50, thats £1 less than the smaller 75ml bottle, so im not really sure whats going on there....obviously it would be insain to pay £1 more for a smaller bottle.......the 200ml bottle is £60.
This fragrance is really different, a scent that is hard to describe, but with it being so strong you do not need to use much at all, using too much will only push this lovely smell to being over the top and just too much. Because of this a bottle will last a very long time even used daily. The smell seems to linger on the skin all day, and i notice instantly if my boy friend has decided to wear this fragrance, the scent is obvious, and different. Well worth buying but also well worth shopping around, ive seen the 50ml bottle online for as little as £22.....i would not pick boots as a place to purchase again, but i would definately recommend this, the smell was even nicer on skin than on the tester paper, and this really did make for a brilliant gift, as he loved it, and i got to enjoy it as well.
I purchased these shoes for £14.99 from newlook, i purchased these in navy, but these are also available in white, coral, and black. The white and coral are currently on sale for just £10, but i decided to spend the extra £4.99 since white is ruined too easily and i find i dont have a lot that would go with coral. These are available in sizes between 5- 9.
Espadrille shoes are top trend this season, and its easy to see why, particularly with the wedges which give a very casual and comfortable way of wearing heels and thus adding extra height. These particular wedge espadrilles have a cross over peep toe design, but obviously wedge espadrilles being so popular at the moment, there are many different designs to go for. I also love the design on the sole of these shoes, although this can obviously not be seen while wearing them. I have walked nearly 2 hours wearing these shoes, and i was worried at first that this would kill my feet, as despite the casual sandal design, i had to keep reminding myself that these were still high shoes. But i forgot this very quickly, these are so comfortable you forget you are even in heels, just convinient extra height.
These shoes are described as straw wedges, which i prefer to the similar cork wedges and they seem to be more durable as well, since when i had cork wedges they looked very worn after little over 2 months. I purchased these in march, and they still look as new despite the fact i wear them almost every day, easy to do when they go with anything, and are so comfortable. The price for the amount of wear you get from these is brilliant. The only place you would get them for less than £15 would be ebay or a charity shop, and the effort of shopping around to find the right size and colour you want at a charity shop can be off putting, and once you add post and packaging on ebay the price difference i should imagine would be very small, i would say newlook are a very good place to purchase these, and they also do student discount which to me is always a bonus!
These are the perfect casual wedge heels for the summer, comfortable, durable and at a good price. The only problem is, is that with the current unpredictable weather it seems you get dressed and put these on to match the nice sunny day outside, then it rains an hour later and these will take forever to dry! Sudden showers are a huge worry when wearing these due to the fact they will stay wet hours after it has stopped raining, i often bring a different pair of shoes out with me just in case. But this small downside takes nothing away from these shoes, i love them, and plan on buying more in some different colours.
I actually got these as a Christmas gift a while back, so im not sure where to buy them, i have had a look around and there are several online shops that do them, but i cant seem to find them in any shops on the high street. They sells these at stripsrus.co.uk for £24.25 with free delivery, but you can pick them up a lot cheaper on ebay and on Amazon. But i wouldn't expect to get them for less than £13 or so.
The box comes with 56 teeth whitening strips, this is a 2 week supply, of using twice a day, one on your upper teeth and one on your lower teeth. But obviously you could decide to just whiten the upper or lower teeth, or you could decide to just use once a day. It says that these strips will give you noticeably whiter teeth, will kill bad breath and germs, is enamel safe, and that the strips dissolve in 5-10 minutes with no mess and nothing to remove. sounds like a nice quick and easy way to whiten right?
Well, first thing i found a bit difficult was taking them out of the packaging with out breaking one of the strips, these are very delicate so you need to be careful, but this gets easy when you've done it a fair few times, so is not a huge problem. The second issue was that its important to make your your hands are completely dry when using these, even the smallest bit of dampness to your hands will cause the strips to stick to your fingers. But once you have learnt this lesson, then again its not a big deal, so this was also not a huge issue. So these are moderately easy to use, and you can still talk with them in so you dont have to even put aside any time in the day to wait for them to work, use them any time and any place, i found them to be very convenient.
I liked the taste, i thought it was a nice fresh mint taste, but my sister swears they taste like rubber and cant stand the taste, so for me the taste was a good point, but others may disagree. These do not take 5-10 minutes to dissolve, it will take about half an hour. Mine took longer than this even, but both my sisters took around half an hour to dissolve (we all got the same Christmas gift) The instructions are very straight forward and simple, but you must have a look at them so you put the strips on the right way around. Once the half hour is up and they have dissolved, they do leave little white bits between some of your teeth, so the no mess and nothing to remove claim is just not true, i found i always wanted to brush my teeth after using these to get rid of the residue.
Despite some issues with using these, in that they were not as quick, easy and mess free as they seemed to claim, there was a noticeable difference to the whiteness of my teeth. My sister who used once a day for longer found less of an effect, so i think its probably best to follow the instructions exactly. While my teeth were whiter, and some people did notice and asked if i had been whitening, or simply commented on how white me teeth were, the results were not as dramatic as i was expecting, i think in the future i will be looking for something with more of a dramatic effect.
these were some what easy to use, but not as much as they claim to be, they did not slide around once on the teeth which i have experienced with previous teeth whitening kits, and they caused no sensitivity to my teeth, while one of my sister experienced a very small amount, I tended to forget they were there until it came to brushing the residue off my teeth. I found them to taste rather nice, which was a definite bonus. The results were good but not great, and i think there are probably better teeth whitening products on the market for not much more money
I have always wanted beautiful waist length hair, but it just seems to take to long! i decided to try and give it a little help, and soon discovered this stuff. Fast hair shampoo can be picked up with the fast hair conditioner from fasthair.co.uk for £19.00 each contain 360ml which is meant to be a six week supply. And for those who are a little more sceptical, they also do smaller trial sizes for £8.99 which contain 60ml each.....so its easy to see that the full size is much better value for money, but i still think its a pretty good idea to let you try it before spending more money., and free delievery is also offered on uk orders.
Well, its clear from the name what the claims will be, this stuff claims to make your hair grow much faster than it does already, 45% faster in fact. It claims to work by feeding the hair essential nutrients and proteins to supercharge hair growth. It claims to work within just one month of using daily, and to be suitable for all hair types. It also offers a money back guarantee, but as i did not use this i dont know too many details about that, but it certainly reassured me when making the purchase.
- first impressions-
Well, my first thoughts were pretty sceptical, as it seems to be claiming to be a hair growth miracle, but i decided that if i was going to do it, i should do it right, and i went for the full size bottles rather than the trial size. They came pretty quickly just a few days in fact, and were packaged neatly in a little box. I found that it was annoying that i had to start washing my hair everyday, as i used to wash it ever other day, and so this requirement in the instructions did put me off a bit. The smell was so so, it wasnt great, it wasnt terrible, it didnt really smell like much at all to be honest, which again was annoying since my previous shampoo and conditioner combo had a lovely smell.....but i decided that if it worked in the end it would be worth it. The other thing i noticed was the fact that it claimed to be a six week supply, but did not seem like it would even take me through a month....i was starting to wonder if this would be a huge disappointment.
I managed to get 3 weeks worth of washes from the bottles, only half the length of time it claimed to last, but i already have pretty long hair, so this could be a reason for this, i should imagine it would only last 6 weeks on boy short hair. I found the conditioner did not leave my hair as soft and shiny as previousl shampoo and conditioner combos, i have very dry damaged hair, and despite this claiming to be suitable for all hair types, i found that it wasnt conditioning enough for my brittle hair. However i reasoned that if i had to only use for a month for super growth, then i could go back to other products after and so this only had to be a small stage of dry lacking in life hair. Well despite all the other disappointments in regards to this shampoo, it did do what it said, i used daily for just over 3 weeks, noticing nothing at first, and originally thinking it a huge waist of money, i soon noticed that my hair growth had indeed accelerated greatly, my roots grew in with unbelievable speed that month, and for the months following, despite the fact i used this for just 3 weeks. All in all, i was actually pretty impressed with the results in the end, and i would certainly consider it worth buying. Next time i want longer hair for an up coming event, i will purchase again a few months in advance.
Having heard some good things about this foundation, i decided to give it a go myself, i went into my local boots store and picked it up for £10.29, which to me seems a very reasonable price to pay for foundation, although i think i could probably have picked it up for less had i decided to shop around a bit more. The first thing i noticed on seeing this foundation is that it has a pretty wide range of options when trying to pick out a shade, which i guess is a huge contributing factor in its claim to perfectly match the colour and texture of your skin. Obviously getting the right shade is important, so i would not recommend you picked this up online as you will probably wont to test the colour against your skin.
The shades available are ivory, golden ivory, golden beige, rose vanilla, rose ivory, rose amber, rose natural, nude beige and nude sand, i liked having a wide range of options because it made me really feel like i had a perfect match for my skin tone, i went for the ivory because i have very pale skin. I often find that even when i buy foundations in the lightest shade they offer, they tend to be too dark for me, or look a little orange, but this was not the case with this foundation, the ivory is really very pale, which was perfect for my skin. I prefer pump foundations to foundations which are just in a tube as they are more convenient and practically impossible to make a mess with. The texture did not seem too thick, it seemed rather thin in fact, and very easy to spread a long my skin. I was very shocked at how good the coverage was, considering how light it felt, and even when i applied large amounts at a time (which was never really necessary since a little seems to go a long way) it never seemed to feel heavy on my skin.
This foundation did not feel at all oily, nor did it make my skin dry out, loreal really seem to have out done themselves on this foundation, they seem to have got the consistency just right. I often get rather oily skin on my forehead, but i get a lot of dry patches on other areas of my face, which makes buying foundation really very difficult as i cant pick one for dry skin types with out making the oily patches worse, nor can i opt for one for oily skin with out it seeming to cling to the dry patches and make them look flakey and horrible. Well this foundation really did seem to solve all my problems, my skin did not look oily nor flakey, this foundation is the perfect answer to problem skin. Perfect for all skin textures and all colours.
Im not sure i have ever tried a foundation i liked more, it last a very long time since i only ever need to use small amounts at once, once you have applied this foundation you will not need to apply again until the next day, it just seems to stay where you put it, which i loved. I also found that it did not make me break out, which i have had issues with when wearing a foundation everyday. An amazing foundation, with just one small criticism, and that is simply the fact its loreal......i tend to avoid products tested on animals as much as i can, and loreal as a company does not have a good track record as far as morals are concerned, and this did put me off buying it, as i tend to feel guilty when i use it, however, not everyone will have a problem with this, and it can be extremely difficult to find decent make up which isnt tested on animals, even the body shop are now owned my loreal......but this aside, the actual foundation was flawless.
I decided that i had to watch this film after reading the Stephen king book of the same name, i loved the book and i always like to compare books to the film version, often i am left very disappointed with the film, but this film is an exception. I saw little difference between the book and the film, and if anything the film was better, more powerful. I picked this film up at the second hand shop cex, for £5, which i certainly thought was a bargain, it is a very popular film, so will not be too difficult to find, Amazon and ebay will be a good bet if your looking to pick up a bargain, but i should imagine including post and packaging you wont pick this up for much less than £5.
Directed by frank darabont and starring Tim Robbins and Morgan freeman, this film is up there with my all time favourites. I think the reason it was not a disappointment compared to the book is that the book is very short, so nothing seemed to be missed out. This film is the story of a banker who is wrongly accused of his wife's murder, who then gets sent to prison where he makes both friends and enemies and experiences huge injustice. The is a particularly heart breaking scene to do with the effects of someone becoming institutionalised within prison, and then having to leave. This part was done so powerfully in the film that it actually brings me to tears every time, the most powerful part of the film, i found the book did not do this half as well.
If i had not already read the book i would have been very surprised by the ending, is is not the kind of film which is predictable, and i often find with films that the ending is make or break, and for me, this is the cherry on top of a perfect cake.....i loved this film, highs and lows, shocks and surprises, i found the characters to be believable and shockingly very likeable since they are nearly all in prison for murder or a crime of equal seriousness. There is not one actor I could criticise in this film, the script, the acting and the directing are all spot on. If you have not already watched this film, i seriously recommend that you do.
The rrp of this book is £7.99 and can be picked up in a huge range of book stores, but you probably will get this book for less. It was published in 2003 and so is pretty easy to find in second hand book shops, i picked mine up from a small second hand book shop called moss books for just £2, you could probably get it on Amazon for little more than the post and packaging. A fiction book by yann martel, which is 319 pages long, I like a book that isn't too short but wont take forever to read either so for me this was perfect. On reading the back of this book i was extremely intrigued, the story line is so shocking it will grab any ones attention, this book is about a small Indian boy stuck on a life boat with a hyena, a zebra, an orang-utan and a 450 pound Bengal tiger....a captivating story which has your eyes glued to the pages as your wondering what tragedy will next occur.
Teenager pi lived with his mum, dad and brother, and his father owned a zoo, it was on moving away from India and taking the animals as well in order to sell to different zoos (who ever gave the best offer) that disaster struck. Simply absorbing, this book starts with a long introduction which gets you very attached to the main character, telling you of his life and experiences, i find this means that you care more what happens to him later in the book. Pi is an intriguing character who's gentleness and open mindedness makes him very likeable, I think this book in this sense if extremely well written. The descriptions of how he felt and what he sees really does suck you in, as if you are experiencing it for yourself, and what is an unbelievable and somewhat ridiculous scenario is written in a way which actually makes you believe and accept that it could happen, which i was moderately surprised at. There are parts in this book which will make you want to smile with how beautiful it sounds, and parts that will make you cringe in disgust, the emotive language will bring the story to life.
This book is written beautifully, a new favourite of mine. Although i did find that it skipped back and forwards in time periods and places, and this sometimes confused me, but it only took a moment to catch up and realise what was going on, still, i would have preferred subheadings stating when it was now on the past or future. This is only a small criticism about this book, and i did not find it effected my enjoyment of the book much at all. There was an extremely imaginative part near the end concerning something pi stumbles upon in his time lost at sea which I really did love, I found it fascinating to read about, a really brilliant book and brilliant story. However, there was another part near the end that i felt was an unnecessary part of the story, and was the only time i felt that the believability was impaired dramatically, but considering the huge unbelievable nature of the story line i hardly consider this a criticism, and since this is a fiction book you would hardly expect it to be completely believable. Well worth buying, well worth reading, brilliantly written, imaginative, original, and completely absorbing, i found it difficult to put this book down, my only real problem with It was that I found it seemed to tell you at the beginning how it was going to end, which to me took away some of the excitement when reading.
After reading about the effects of pure virgin coconut oil on hair, i decided to look for some on the internet, i searched in google for some virgin coconut oil and this came up. Virgin coconut oil just means that it is 100% pure coconut oil with nothing added to it, making it completely natural. The website (coconoil.co.uk) has both organic and virgin coconut oil, the organic comes in 3 different tube sizes, between the prices of £6.50 for the 250g tub, and £90 for a 10kg container....so a fair option of choices depending on how much you want and what you are looking to spend. I went for the virgin coconut oil, only one size is available here, a 460g tub for £8.99, there are bulk buying options which work out a bit less per tub if you decide you would rather stock up.
This coconut oil can be used in cooking as a much more healthy alternative to any other cooking oil, but it can also be used on the skin and hair, i haven't personally tried it on the skin, but its meant to keep it young and moisturised from what i can gather (since i had done a fair bit of reading before deciding to try it out) the 460g tub was a pretty decent size, and i found that coconut oil is one of those things that not only requires you use very minimal amounts, but it seems completely necessary that you only use a little bit, too much and i found my hair would become flat, lank and looked a tad Greasy. This meant that i felt it was pretty good value, i was particularly impressed with the fact that is was free post and packaging, that always makes me feel better about buying anything online.
I have tried im cooking and i find its a lovely alternative to other oils, adds a very small and subtle amount of flavour and is very easy to use. The oil is solid at room temperature and requires heating up to melt, so to just spoon a small amount in a frying pan means threes no chance of spilling any, and spilt oil i always find is a bit of a pain to try and clean up. The main reason i purchased this was for my hair, im constantly searching for a miracle cure to make my hair soft and shiny, but more importantly, to attempt to fix the dramatic damage. I found this difficult to work with and have read all sorts of things for how best to use in your hair, and this left me confused, and thus i had to try a few different things before i got it right, but when i got it right the effects were simply amazing.
I found this difficult to use for hair, as obviously i had to melt it first, and so you will need another small container in which you can spoon a little out and put this container half submerged in a sink of hot water, it does not take long to melt, but i found that this seemed a lot more effort than if you were to simply buy a cream or mask, or serum for the hair, which would obviously be ready to just put right from the container to your hair. The first time i used this i tried putting a small amount on th dry hair, as if it were a serum, but i would not advise this, as it left my hair very greasy, the way no other serum would. I then tried it as a sleep in mask, this some what worked, but it made sleeping uncomfortable as i had to put a towel down over my pillow to avoid making a mess, the towel was nothing like my silk sheets to sleep on and this irritated me, there is also the fact that it seems to make the towel smell odd, which isn't exactly ideal, the effects were reasonably nice, i did notice a little more shine and a tad more manageability, but it just wasn't the miraculous results i had been expecting, in fact, it wasn't even close.
I did not use this product for a while due to the fact that it seemed more effort than it was worth, but then i decided recently to try again, this time on wet hair, i put a very small amount on my hair just after i got out the shower, only on the ends as oil on your roots will always make it seem greasy, and i towel dried my hair, this time i was extremely happy with the results, it seemed to protect against the damage of my heat products, and my hair looked healthy, and despite the fact i knew secretly that it was not healthy, i still felt very happy about this miraculous mirage or shiny healthy glossy hair. I think that everyone's hair is different and some will find a different way of using this oil will work best for them, and some may find they don't like it at all, but then you can always try it with your skin, or use it up to cook with if you come to that conclusion. In the tub the smell was extremely weak, i was hardly able to smell it, but once my hair was dry it had a subtle but still some how clear smell of coconut, i am very happy that i tried this product, despite all the trial and error efforts involved, the product is well worth the money due to the tiny amounts you need to use.....the only problem i had was that if you accidentally put too much in the hair, the only way to rectify your mistake is to re-wash....always a nightmare.
These eye shadows would cost around £6.20 in boots, a little less in superdrug (around £5.99) and can be found on various websites from around £2.95 (thecosmetichouse.co.uk) but remember online you would also have to pay post and packaging so only really gives you savings if buying a fair few things from the same website. These come in a huge variety of colours, and you do not have to buy due, they come in just one colour containers as well, for the same price.
I prefer to get one colour rather than the duo pots with two colours because with these the lighter colour often gets smudged into the darker colour so much that there was no point in having the lighter colour there anyway. I love the huge variety of colours, pinks, greens, blues, purples, browns, golds, all earthy natural tones as well as lovely vibrant tones, there really is something for everyone with loreal colour appeal eye shadows. So a good start with a wide variety of colours and many opportunity's online to pick these up for very cheap, but what about the actual eye shadow?
Well i did think that the colours seem to look a little more dull on skin then in the pots, so do be prepared for this, but they do come with a very small little eye shadow brush which makes for very easy application, it becomes very easy to be accurate with where you are putting this stuff, which i liked a lot, much easier and less messy than trying to use your fingers! I found that if you drop this on the floor it cracks up and becomes like dust, if the lid is not on well then this stuff will go everywhere, so in your bag with the lid not closed down until it clicks, banding your bag against something will cause a huge mess, however when the lid is clicked in to place it never seems to fly open, which i liked. I found this eye shadow to be a little on the smudgy side, but this did not bother me to much as i tend to hair spray make up into place to avoid this.
I think if you only like a bit of eye shadow this will last all night, apply a lot and most will rub off through out the night, but it never seems to rub off completely, unless you use a make up wipe and are intending to get it off anyway. All in all a good eye shadow, huge variety of colours, long lasting, easy to apply, and can e picked up for very cheap, worth the money, a good eye shadow, but i would not claim it is the best eye shadow on the market.
Ok, so most people have probably heard of this, but for those who haven't, this is a home hair bleach kit which claims to take even black hair to a very white blonde. It is available in 30volume and 40 volume, i used the 30 volume. You can buy it from a wide range of websites, and at a range of prices: attitudeclothing.co.uk £13.99, caoticclothing.co.uk £11.95, musicbands.com do the 40 vol but not the 30 at just £6.33. drea-gate.co.yk does both for £9.95.....so as you can see, you wont be short on places to look for this product, and the prices seem to range from anywhere between £6.33-£15, you will also find on ebay and amazon.
This product is just a pre-lightener, a toner will be necessary to get a decent shade if your wanting to go blonde, but if you want a nice bright colour just pre-lighten then put the colour in and it will be insanely bright. My hair is naturally very dark brown, people often describe it as being black.....so since this stiff claims to take even black hair to a very light white blonde colour, i decided to give this a go. I went for the 30 volume and not the 40 because i was very concerned about ruining my hair, the 40 volume is much stronger. I ordered 2 boxed in case the first attempt went horribly wrong, and its a good job i did this since, there is not nearly enough in just one box, i struggled to cover all my hair with 2, and think 3 may have been a better idea. However i had pretty long hair at the time so i should imagine 2 would be enough for most people.
So, in the box you will find a little 118ml bottle of cream developer, a pair of gloves, a small sachet of bleach powder, a little container to do the mixing, and a small brush to mix and apply it to your hair, and a plastic cap to wear while waiting. The instructions i found incredibly easy to follow, it says to gradually add the developer to the bleach powder in the tub, blend until the mixture is smooth and creamy, then it says sometimes it is not necessary to use all the contents of the developed. Now, if i was the manufacturer i would have put that part in bold and underlined it, on my tests strands i kept finding it was doing very little, or at the most going an orange colour, this is obviously not what i wanted, so i had to keep making it stronger, and it was at this point that i realised that the more runny it is the less effective it will be, the mixture must be smooth and creamy, but not too runny, it has to be pretty thick to do its job, i ended up using both powder bleach sachets to just over one and a third bottles of the developer, and the strands then started to go a bright (but slightly yellowish) blonde, which means that 2/3s a bottle of developer to one sachet will probably be enough.
Okay, so after mixing it right, your going to want to apply it, it says to put on dry unwashed hair, then it gives you a rough guide how long you should leave it just to get to a pale lemon yellow stage....now this doesn't sound like something to be desired, but the right toner will take you from this stage to the blonde you want to be, a purple based toned will take you too a while blonde, special effects, stargaze, goldwell and directions all do pretty good toners, and toner will not add further damage to your hair. If you have dark blonde hair already, it says to wait 20-60 minutes, light brown hair = 20 to 90 minutes, medium brown = 40 to 90 minutes, and dark brown = 60-90 minutes, it says nothing about black, but there website claims it also works on black hair. Now, obviously bleach is very damaging, i do not recommend you go for the full 90 unless your hair is very very dark brown, almost black. It is important to remember that because of heat coming from your head, your roots will go lighter faster than the rest or your hair, so i would suggest going from the ends and upwards, also try and be as fast as you can with the application, as it starts working from the moment its applied to your hair and its powerful stuff, you may end up with the bits you started with be noticeably lighter.....
I left mine for 8o minutes, i was too scared to go the full 90, Im glad i didn't, my hair was a light but somewhat yellowish blonde, i used directions toner which a purple base, to get it to a nice light blonde, the toner will have to be used monthly in order to stop the yellow coming back. So originally i was pretty impressed with this product, it did what it said it would do, so it does work, but at what cost? My hair was very very damaged, it felt elastic like when wet and like straw when dry, thanks to a variety of products i was able to get it in not to terrible condition again, or at least it didn't look in terrible condition, but it still felt dry, and it kept snapping off, i lost a good 4/5 inches of hair before it stopped with this, if a 30 volume kit did this kind of damage with just 80 minutes, i wouldn't like to see the result with 90 minutes, or using a 40 vol kit.....
I do regret using this bleach kit on my hair, my hair completely stopped growing for a while. But if you are completely desperate to go from very dark brown to very light blonde regardless of the health of your hair, this product teamed with toner will do the job. I do think this is probably a very good product, those with medium brown or light brown hair who would only need to leave it for around 40 minutes would probably not get such extreme levels of damage and thus it would be a very good option, i just think caution is required, there is also the huge down side of try to avoid getting this on your clothes! As with any bleach product it want come out because it isn't a stain, bleach removes colour from things.....permanently.
