In the past I purchased Clean & Clear's original morning burst formula and was thrilled with its bursting beads. As advertised they really woke me up and gave me an invigorating start to the day. After using the original product my skin felt exfoliated, cleansed and soft. On occasion I would also use it in the evenings if I felt tired and needed a boost.
This product is also called morning burst but is followed with "skin brightening facial scrub" and comes in yellow packaging as opposed to the originals orange. The bottle is quite large and contains 141 g of product which is great value for money. I've been using this product daily for a month and it seems to me that it would last the average user around 1.5 to 2 months. One squirt of the product is normally sufficient as you wet your face before applying it and so it lathers easily.
Upon trying this product I found there were less exfoliating and bursting beads than in the original product. I also believe the beads in this product are far smaller than in the original and perhaps that is why I find them unnoticeable and ineffective. I seriously don't notice them at all whereas with the original product they were my favourite aspect and the reason I went back to the same product time and time again.
I love the smell of this product and find it helps me feel alert and awake, not as invigorated as with the bursting beads in the original product though. According to the packaging it contains caffeine (hence the alertness), lemon (explains the citrus smell) and papaya (the sweet smell of the papaya is just as noticable as the lemon).
Claims: (on the packaging)
Now to assess the products main claim does it effectively brighten skin? Well it certainly worked for me. After a few days use my skin had a healthy glow and looked visibly brighter. My skin looked natural just more radiant. I've been using this product for around a month now and continue to see results.
The packaging also promises that the product won't clog pores. I agree with this statement this product also works as an exfoliant and cleanser and my pores feel cleaner and tighter after application. I recommend this product as a cleanser and exfoliant. Firstly it's gentle but I still like how you can feel the product is doing its job. The consistency is perfect, not too runny. Secondly it successfully removes make up without much effort. It's a simple quick product to use before applying moisturiser.
I like this product but not for the reasons I brought it. Unfortunately the bursting beads were disappointing however if you're looking for a multipurpose product that brightens you skin, exfoliates and cleanses then perhaps consider this product. Personally I'll be purchasing the original morning burst bottle next time (orange) as I really love its bursting beads.
When OPI released their Muppet collection I was a little hesitant and so opted for the set of minis. The mini set contains four polishes Wocka Wocka, Excuse Moi, Designer de Better and Warm & Fozie. Normally when purchasing a set there will be at least one shade I'm not crazy about but I can confidently say I love and have gotten a lot of use out of all four shades.
What I love most about this collection is that there is a polish for every occasion. Wocka Wocka is an example of one of the more mature "grown up" shades. It's described as being dark berry in colour but from a distance looks more like a dark Christmas red. I've received many compliments while wearing this polish. My grandmother who frequents nail salons thought I'd gotten a professional manicure. This polish is one of the easiest polishes to apply. It doesn't drip dries quickly and you can get away with only applying two coats. Another positive about this collection is that all the polishes seem quite hard-wearing even compared to brands like Essie or China Glaze. With this collection I found I only had to paint my nails once a week. While with other collections I often find that the polishes begin to chip after only 2-3 days.
At the other extreme is Excuse Moi a more youthful pink glitter polish. Although not as easy to apply as Wocka Wocka it's still fuss free to apply. The only problem is getting it off. Even with quality nail polish remover it takes a bit of work. This polish is super girly and is sure to draw attention. I had one woman on the bus stop to ask me about it. If you're worried about how wearable it is don't fret. I often wear it with neutral plain clothes (e.g. black cardigan or black leather jacket) to avoid looking overly "girly girl".
Other glitter polishes in the range include Getting Miss Piggy With It (red), Devine Swine (dark purple), Fresh Frog of Bel Air (light Kermit green), Gone Gonzo (medium Gonzo blue) and Rainbow connection (rainbow multicolour explosion). If you're a fan of glitters you might be disappointed with the mini set as it only contains one glitter however if you're like me and enjoy the glittery look on occasion this won't be a problem. I like how the set contains a variety of polishes e.g. normal, glitter and metallic to give you an indication of whether or not you'll want to buy full versions of the other polishes.
The mini set contains one metallic that being Warm & Fozie. At first glance I anticipated this would be my least favourite polish but it's a lovely warm neutral and is perfect for Winter or Autumn/Fall. This shade really does remind me of Fozie Bear. Again this polish is easy to apply and thankfully a lot easier to remove than Excuse Moi.
The last polish in the set is Designer de Better which is described as a shimmery bronze. This shade is amazing and contains flickers of contrasting colours and so has the ability to look different at different angles or under different lights. At close inspection it has flickers of bronze but also gold and silver. This is one of the most multidimensional polishes I've tried. I admit at times I'd just stare at my nails in awe. Again this polish is easy to apply, fast to dry and easy to remove. The polishes in this set remind me of why OPI is so popular.
Other shades I haven't mentioned in the range include Pepe's Purple Passion (a dark purple which is quite similar to Wocka Wocka.. well enough so that I wouldn't buy it), Animal-istic (an incredibly bright fun red) and finally Meep Meep Meep (another red/purple shade described as fuchsia). If these polishes are anything like the four I've tried then I'm sure they are amazing. Gone Gonzo does appear to be the most unique of the shades though. If I had to give a favourite from the mini range it would be a tie between Wocka Wocka (which is so sophisticated in appearance you could wear it in an office) and Designer de Better (what a Chameleon of a nail polish).
After seeing numerous Nice'n Easy advertisements I relented and purchased this product out of curiosity. Could it really be that simple to achieve a vibrant multidimensional natural looking colour with lowlights and highlights? A few months earlier I used L'Oreal Sublime Mousse and was extremely happy with the result. The process was incredibly simple and even with long thick hair dying my hair on my own was a fuss free process. With some of the more traditional products I've had to have a friend or family member help me e.g to section hair quickly so the colour absorbs evenly. I should have used L'Oreal again but I was curious about other mousse based hair dyes and so experimented with Nice'n Easy. Big mistake.
I chose shade 5 Medium Brown as I'd previously dyed my hair lighter and was looking to revert back to a more natural shade. My ideal shade would be a dark brown but I was aware that hair dye often turns hair darker than the shade shown on the box. We've all read horror stories of women who wanted brown hair and ended up looking like Morticia Adams.
Firstly the bottle used to mix and apply the dye was a squeeze bottle and so it was harder to get the last of the product out compared to the L'Oreal bottle which dispensed foam with an easy pump. The smell of this product was off putting. So much so that I opened all possible windows to allow more ventilation. I've tried a few other brands before and none had a smell anywhere near this strong.
The box claimed one of the key benefits of this product was that it was drip free. However nothing could be further from the truth. This is the messiest dye I have used which was a surprise as it's a foam based product. Thankfully I had old towels covering the carpet and my clothes. After the application process I found the dye had begun to dye my skin in multiple areas including my ears, neck and hairline. The foam itself dripped throughout the entire process. As a result I spent the entire waiting time furiously scrubbing my skin to get the dye out. Don't just take my word for it after using the product I did a little research on the internet and found it was a common problem. It may be useful to mention that with L'Oreal I had no problem with dripping.
After rinsing I found my hair was jet black. Thankfully it didn't look too bad with my skin complexion but for some this could be a problem. Fortunately I found that the dye fades quite quickly. Within a few weeks of use. If you want a product with long lasting results I wouldn't recommend this one.
Now for the positives. The amount of product you get is greater than with most brands so if you have long hair one box will do the trick. I also loved the nourishing conditioning treatment that comes in the box. Although most brands will give you one sachet this product came for two. One to be used on the day of the treatment and the other to be used in a few weeks time to condition and lock in the colour.
This is one of the worst hair dyes I've used and while it may not be the worst around I have to be honest ... I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. There are far superior products on the market. Personally I'd recommend L'Oreal Nice n Easy or any box of Garnier. If you want to drastically change you hair colour Garnier is not a bad option. Just make sure to choose a few shades lighter and be reasonable about the intended outcome. If you really want a nice'n easy product pick up a L'Oreal Sublime Mousse box.
Finally a moisturiser that lives up to the claims on the box. While browsing the beauty aisle I chose this product as it seemed perfectly tailored towards my age demographic. Whereas so many products cater to an older audience who are already looking to repair skin damage or lessen the appearance of wrinkles.
This product is gentle and suitable for everyday use. It's marketed as a day cream but I also like to apply it before sleeping as I find it gives me fresh, radiant skin in the mornings. The effects of this product are long lasting and if you accidentally miss a day or two your skin will still retain the benifits it has gained.
I like the consistency of this product it's not sheer or runny like some brands but not too thick either. It also absorbs into skin quickly. It has a distinctive slightly fruity fragrance which reminds me of Garnier's shampoos.
After only one day of use I noticed that my skin was brighter, firmer, smoother and more hydrated. This product also effectively combats the first signs of aging, all glimpses of future wrinkles faded especially under my eyes. My skin looks healthier now than it did when I was 15. Amazingly this product delivered on its claims. In the past I've tried a range of moisturisers that disappointed.
Now for the negative aspects of this product. While this product is ideal for those with youthful skin it is less effective for mature skin. This product doesn't reverse the effects of time but protects and nourishes youthful skin. However Garnier does offer other moisturisers that may cater to an older market.
Lastly the jar is quite small and I predict lasts roughly 2 and 1/2 months. However this product is inexpensive and is widely available in supermarkets and department stores and so is easy to replace.
Belkin is a trusted brand for good reason. Unlike cheap imitations their cases are sturdy and built to last. I've owned this case for 5 months and it still looks brand new.
This case in particular is lightweight and sleek and snugly fits my tablet, so that there is no movement. There are convenient holes for the rear camera, headphones, speakers and charger so that you rarely have to remove your tablet. However I still find myself taking my tablet out to take photographs with the rear camera as although there is a hole the lens is still somewhat obstructed. However this is one of the cases only faults.
Perhaps one of the cases best features is that you can use it to easily stand up your tablet. This feature is great for tables and allows you to view your tablet like a desktop or laptop screen. I recommend this feature for watching movies.
As far as I know this case is only available in a dark grey. It has a professional look and would be perfect for transporting your tablet to work. On the back there is a handy thick elastic band which can be pulled over the front flap to further secure your tablet.
Protection wise this case has no rival. Thanks to this case my tablet has sustained no damage. Not a single scratch.
If you have a Samsung Galaxy 10.1 tablet look no further this case is the perfect companion.
While researching tablets I found many reviews were biased towards Android or Apple products. I'm no fangirl and in the past have purchased both and so in this review I'll simply discuss the benefits and disadvantages of choosing the Samsung 10.1 and hopefully will provide some insight into whether this product is right for you.
One of the most noticeable advantages of an android product is the freedom to customize everything from your menu to setup. A typical homepage looks familiarly like a windows desktop homepage. It was incredibly simple to customize my tablet. Instead of a stock standard apple menu I display photographs, thumbnails of websites, the current temperature and the time.
In much the same way it's easy to install updates and upgrade software on this device. Perhaps this device will have better longevity than the iPad which quickly becomes superceded by the next model. My friend brought an iPad for Christmas and was horrified that it is already outdated. However one downside I experienced initially was that the android market (now Google play) had less applications than the apple store. Thankfully in the last few months more companies have begun to create for android and this is less of an issue now.
Another advantage of choosing this device is that you have the options of having little unobtrusive notifications alert you without exciting the website you're viewing or game you're playing. If you're a Gmail user you can also sync your Gmail account with your tablet which I highly recommend. The layout of Gmail on a tablet is superior to the normal layout and I find it's much easier to see the list of incoming emails while composing an email for example.
I also appreciate that this device allows adobe flash (particularly video clips and games) to be shown immediately without any hassle. I also feel that the screen dimensions on this device are better suited to browsing the web or watching a movie than on an iPad.
This device is perfect for my needs. It has built in productivity software such as Excel, Word ect.. which makes viewing assignments I typed up on my desktop a breeze. If your desktop or laptop runs Microsoft I would highly recommend this tablet. Browsing the web is a better experience than on my desktop or laptop as you can double tap on an article or image to enlarge it and move the page left to right ect..
As for the technical specs this tablet is incredibly light (one of the lightest on the market). I've lugged it around all day in a handbag without a second thought. The resolution and images are crisp and bright and I'd argue on par with the iPad. The battery life is decent. I charge mine at night although I find a 30min charge during the day quickly restores the battery. The tablet has both a front and rear camera from which I've been able to take decent photographs and video clips. The processing power is phenomenal and gives users a smooth experience. The system never lags or freezes and downloads are quick.
Strange but perhaps one of the biggest disadvantages is that it's harder to find accessories and attachments for this device while every shop offers a large variety of apple add ons. I had to order and wait a few weeks for my Belkin case to arrive.
I suppose at the end of the day I'd recommend the iPad to Mac users and the Samsung 10.1 to Microsoft users. All in all I'm ecstatic with my tablet and still use it everyday. Three of my family members have also brought one of their own. At first I admit I was tempted to purchase an iPad for the "cool" factor but I don't regret my decision.
P.S Look out for Samsung's special cashback offer that seems to appear every few months. I received a $100 check back.
As a teenager my parents discouraged me from purchasing a GHD as they claimed it would be no more effective than a cheap straightener.I know many people who refuse to believe the hype thinking that a product so popular probably just has effective marketing strategies. I admit I was sceptical about its claims too.
One year in college my dad surprised me with a GHD for Christmas. To be honest it blows the competition out of the water. What I love most about this product is that after using it in the morning my hair will stay perfectly straight for up to two days. I also find I don't have to brush my hair as often as there are no tangles. My Remington straightener only managed to keep my hair straight for a couple of hours. I live in a notoriously windy city and thanks to GHD I can walk down the street without looking like Cousin IT from "The Adam's family". If you have heavy fringe/bangs the GHD will also keep them from separating.
As for its other benefits the GHD heats up in mere seconds, curls hair effortlessly, doesn't do any noticeable damage to my hair and is sturdy and robust.
I've only found one downside to this product. After using my GHD to curl my hair the side of the plates show signs of wearing. So although I would recommend this product for curling hair I'd suggest owners use their GHD primarily for straightening.
Also worth a quick mention you often receive free goodies with a GHD purchase my pack included hair clips, a heat resistant travel bag and a mirror.
Since enquiring about my GHD and witnessing the results in person family friends of all ages have since purchased their own. One friend with unruly curly hair manages to straighten her hair quickly with a GHD while no other product has worked for her.
If you're looking to tame your locks this product is for you.
