The Boat That Rocked is a fictitious comedy set in Britain during 1966 in an era when the BBC, the only UK mainland licensed radio broadcaster (Manx Radio had already been licensed to serve the Isle of Man), played little more than two hours of any kind of recorded music each week. In the story a pirate station called Radio Rock began broadcasting rock music twenty-four hours a day from a boat anchored off the coast of England in international waters. Hosted by a colourful band of disc-jockeys, it soon gains an audience of millions and angers the government in the process. While the story does have some relationship to real events it does not represent any specific station that was broadcasting to Britain in 1966. Really do love this film so much, I would recoomend it to everyone reading this review. It is now out on DVD, so go and buy it.
Sam Learning is a brilliant website that my son is currently using. It is an educational website, used to help school students with preparation for their exams. It is only accessable if you have a user name and password, which can be gained for schools, or other educational organisations. It runs all the way from Primary School exams, to Year 9 exams, GCSE's and A-Levels. I was helping my son with it the other day, and it is rather useful. It has a range of subjects for each year, and including many fill in the blanks puzzles, which helps the student to learn what they need.
They are then given a grade on their performance. Once a unit has been completed, they can then complete a mock exam, which can be marked online. Teachers are also able to monitor the students progress, which assist them in helping the student to progress with areas that they are particularly struggling with.
With so much on the site, it can be considered rather cluttered, but if it helps, who cares. This site is not for everyone, and is targeted for kids aged between 8 and 18, and it one of the best revision websites that I have seen my son using. In my opinion, I would give it a go, and see if it is any use.
www.thatguywiththeglasses.com, is a website that I have become fond of over the past couple of days. I read the first review on Dooyoo, and decided to visit it for myself. Basically it is a review website, but with a difference. Instead of writing reviews, the reviews are in a video format, so you can actually see the people reviewing it, and most importanyly, see the passion that is put into the review. As of yet, I havent completed a review with this site, but I will be doing so in the future. It is a much better way to get your opinions across, and in my opinion, is a feature that Dooyoo should adopt.
When you come to the homepage, you are presented with the latets reviews for users. N.B, you have to be a member to upload a recored review, and of course, before it can be viewed, it will be screened to make sure it is appropariate, (no violence, porn, anything like that, lets face it, there are people out there that would do that).
The name of the website confuses me a little, yet it definitely is something that you will remember. There is a blog on this site, so you can write about things, and something that I contribute to, sharing my thoughts with others. There are so many conflicting ideas and opinions on this site, which makes it brilliant to watch the indiviudal videos.
In my opinion, I think that everyone should to part in this website, not to say that they should abandon Dooyoo, definitely not.
www.parkatmyhouse.com is one of the most intreging website that I have ever come across. Have you ever found it hard to find a parking space near to your home, and then find out that you have been charged outragious pirces. Well this is where www.parkatmyhouse.com comes in. It allows you to enter your postcode onto into homepage, and search for parking spaces either near to where you work, live, or anywhere you want.
It produces a vast amount of result, for example, I typed my postcode in, and it gave me many results, and one which I am quite interested in. Parking near to my work place for only £60 per month, which I tell you, is a lot cheaper than paying car park fees, or getting clamped.
Another good use of this website is that if you have a parking space, such as a drive that you dont use, or a garage, then you can post this space on the website, and charge what you think is appropriate. As of yet, I havent needed this service, but have tested it out, and I have found it extremely easy to use this service.
One of the great things about www.parkatmyhouse.com is that the website in general, is brilliantly colourful, and really eye appealing. If only some other site went down the same road.
When you use the search features, it will produce a map, displaying all of the locations of rentable spaces, so you can look and decide which one would be most appropariate for you, depending on how far away you want to park your car, personally, I dont mind walking a bit to get to it.
Brilliant idea, and will be using it in the future.
Basically, www.search.com, is a search engine, obviously from the name of the site. On of the biggest advertisments from Google is that they have almost all of the websites in their searches, but personally, I dont think they do. The basis of this site, is to bring a great number of search engines, including Google and Yahoo, to produces as many search results as possible.
This site can be compared greatly to the likes of Google, as not only can you search for websites, but you can also search for images, and videos, which is something that Google has only recently added to their features. In addition to this, the homepage of www.search.com, looks very similar to Google, which one search box in the middle of the page, and blank space surrounding it. This makes searching very simple, however, I dont particularly like the grey colouring that they have used for the background, (but that is only me trying to find disadvantages of the site, something which I am fidning hard to do).
There is also a very detailed HELP section to the website, which assists you in your searching. I find this very easy to use, and it explains how to conduct an effective search, and the kind of words and phrases to use for a particular search.
Although I will not be changing my own homepage from Google to this, I would advise you to check it out, as you may find it suits you better. For me, Google will win hands down, it is just the best. Yahoo just doesnt come into the picture.
www.gamedujour.com is an American gaming website, which sells computer games to the general public. Compared to other websites of a similar nature, this site is relatively new to the gaming world. www.gamedujour.com, primary sells computer games, and nine times out of ten, at a cut down price. For example, I have just visited the site, and they are offering Ultratron, a pc game, for $9.95, which is a 50% discount. This is one of the brilliant things about this site, it gives you so many offers, the only downside to this is that most of the offers only last for a limited time, and this time is displayed next to the product in a countdown format.
It isnt the cheapest site around, not like play.com or the likes of Amazon, and if you were to buy something from the UK, it would cost massively in shipping costs, which can increase the price of your order dramatically. They do however, offer free delivery of orders over a certain amount, or so I have heard.
When it comes down to the general appearance of the website, I must say that I am sitting on the fence. At first, when you go to the homepage, you are presented with a featured product, which to me, isnt the best idea, as I like to have some sort of a welcome page, giving some general information about the site first, like Dooyoo for example. Yet saying this, the overall layout of www.gamedujour.com, is outstanding. You can clearly see everything, no dark on dark colours, and in my opinion, very appealing. All of the relevant information is there for you to look at.
Overall, this site is great, and although the prices are in american dollars, shipping costs can be high, but you can download the game from the site itself. The layout is great, and the appearance of the site has its good points and its bad. I would use this site, and would recommend it to others.
Tesco Value Corned Beef, what can I say. Well to give you an idea, I have three packets of it in my fridge right now. I love the stuff, and as nice as the more expensive variaties are, I think that the Tesco own branded version is on par. I dont really see the difference, and in my opinion, I think that Corned Beef is one of those products that will taste the same no matter where you buy it from, or who made it. In a packet, you get about 8 slices, from memory, and each slice is big enough to make a sandwhich, so for one pack, you get 8 sandwhiches, not bad for only 80p (although, I have paid more than £1 for this product, and Tesco do have special offers on a regular basis, so watch the price drop). The packaging for this product is ok, not great, but not bad either. On the front, it tells you all the nutrional information, very clearly, but it has a plain design, and doesnt really stand out of the selves.
As far as the taste goes, like I said before, it is brilliant. You really cant put it into words. All I can say is, go and buy it yourself and see because Tesco Value Corned Beef certainly gets my approval, and I would recommend it to you and my friends and family.
Goldstar - Dark Lager Beer, a brilliant alcoholic drink all the way from Isreal. I my own opinion, I think that when you compare this larger to some of the more tradional larger's in this contry, there is a unique taste to it. When on a night out, I havent seen this in the pubs, YET, but hopefully it will make an appearance in the future. However, saying this, you can buy it in the shops, and in particular, supermarkets. I usually shop in places like Asda, and they are known for selling cheap alcohol, and Goldstar - Dark Lager Beer is no execption. The last time I bought some, a couple of weeks ago, it cost me around £6 for a pack of 6, which isnt too bad, a bit more expensive than the likes of Carling or Fosters, but you do get a very different taste. Not that strong, at only around 5%, so like any tradional beer, you can sit back, relax, and enjoy the taste. My only problem with this larger is that is has a lot of froth at the top, so when you look at a bottle at think thats a lot, once the froth has, into your mouth (not a very nice taste), there isnt really that much.
Apart from that, this larger would definitely get my recommendation and Goldstar - Dark Lager Beer is a one of a kind. Go buy it, you wont regret it.
I am a great Bond fan, and I have seen all of the films right from the begining. When I first saw the first Bond film with Daniel Craig, I was rather disappointed, it wasnt up to much, but this film was a pleasant suprise, a whole new Bond, he must have been practising inbetween filming to give the performance he did.
The story for this film features the classic villain, who like always wanted to do something that will damage the world, this time, its water supply. I love it when films likes these have silly storylines, and even though they are that, silly, it still makes for great viewing, better than some others.
Compared to the other Bond films, this has to be one of the shortest, which is a shame, as I would have liked to the storyline being a bit longer. I dont like it when films are over over before they have even started, as you feel that the action is over too quickly, even though in this film it is rather fast paced. In fact, it is so fast that it didnt seem liked it stopped and they were craming it in to the alrady short script. I really like this, but what can you do.
The second of the Craig Bond portrayals is one of the smallest films, but in my opinion, could have been better.
This has to be one of the worst films that has starred Keanu Reeves, and I was really disappointed with it overall, not what I was expecting at all. In the role of an anlien, Reeves gives a terrible performance, and one that isnt worth the money to watch it, whether on DVD or when it was at the cinema.
There was so many special effects, I think that they blew the whole budget on this than getting in some decent writers for plot, which I just didnt understand at all. I mean come on, when you make a film about aliens, you need to make sure that your audience knows exactly what is going on throughout the film, ro you will just loose their attention, something that this film did very quickly, and I would not recommend it to anyone, why would I recommend putting you all through that torture. When I said that the special effects took up much of the film, I didnt mean that there was plenty of action, in fact the opposite, these effects just werent needed.
Stay well clear of this film, for fear of your sanity. Being a remake, I dont know whether or not I would want to see another remake ever again. After all, it is a well known fact that remakes just ruin the first well completely. In the future I will try my best to avois ever seeing this film again, and my adivce would be to do the same thing.
When I first heard about this film, it didnt sound like my cup of tea, but then when I found out about how popular it was at the oscars, I began to realise that there must be something about it that makes it good enough to win so many awards. The title of the film is really intreging, and makes you think what it could be about, and that is before you have even seen any clips of it.
It is about a man called Benjamin, hence the title, who when born, is an eldery man, sounds strange but proves otherwise not. Then comes the drama, he falls in love with a girl, and while he is aged 70, the girl, Emily, is aged a lot younger, only around 9. As the film progresses, we begin to learn how he leads his live, and how people react to him, and the strangness that surrounds his life. Along he has the appearance of an old man, he nature and mind is that of only a younger man. Like I said, it is full of drama, and the twists throughout the film provide us with a film good enough to go all the way in history.
The love in this film is great and so emotional, and in the end, is a real tear jerker. My advice would be to go and see this film, or you wont know what you are missing. Take my advice, you wont be sorry.
There arent many films these days that make me laugh, but this is definitely an exception to that style of my life, and I couldnt stop all the way through. Before I even start, I will certainly be recommending this film to you all at the end of the review. There are certain actors in Hollywood that just bring a certain spark to a film, and Will Farrell is definitely one of them, and I cant think of one of his films that I havent liked. Put him with the other actors in the film and you have a brilliant feature. Farrell sorts of spreads his spark throughout the whole cast, and so, as youn would expect, the cast are amazing.
Step Brothers is a film which follows the lives of two men, Dale and the wonderfully funny Brennan, both 40 and both step brothers. The funny thing about this film is that both of these characters are still living their mum and dad respectively, and when their two parents marry, they must live together as a big family. At the begining, the brothers dont get along with each, and but they do share one thing in common with each other, they are both lazy, much to the disaproval of their respective parent.
Im not going to spoil any more of the film, just watch it, and like I said before, I recommend it to all viewers.
This is yet another classic from the infamous Clint Eastwood, except this time, he is behind the camera, as the director, instead of being in front of it as the star. He is a legend, and makes the film industry what it is. If I am honest, it wasnt what the film was about, it was the director that made me want to go and see the film, and I know that is stupid, but its the way I am. Film is like football, a footballer may be brilliant, but as a manger, he may be crap, and a actor may be brilliant, but switching to directing can be a diaster.
When it comes down to this film, it is a master piece, although some dont think so, and me and my wife debated for ages about how good it was. Yes, I will admit that the plot of this film was rather out there, but I enjoyed it, and put that with the acting, well, you have a piece of creative brillance. It is want is as an epic, and is long, which is a disadvantage, and at times, can be a bit boring, but only at times.
A film that not everyone will enjoy, and is for selected viewership in my opinion, so be warned, you may walk out of the cinema thinking what a waste of money, but it is the chance you take.
It has been a while since I have seen a decent Disney musical, actually, I think it was probably the The Lion King, which is admittely a classic. The third, and I hope not the last in the series, this film has gripped audiences across the globe, and children are an avid fan, my daughter has posters all over her room. It is the first film out of the three to be shown at the cinema, so we had to take our kids.
I found it quite strange, as even though it was a new film, my kids were singing along, so I think that had heard the songs on the Internet, and I have to admit, some of the lyrics are quite catchy, and I found myself singing along with the kids in the car back home. It doesnt matter what the age is, all with love it.
It will put a smile on everyone's face. The acting has gotten better throughout all of the films, and now it is a decent cinema film. It bought it for the kids last week on DVD, as so the first thing we did was watch it again, and again, and again, and to be honest, it doesnt get boring. It is one of the most entertaining films of the year, and a definite must see for all.
It was my daughter sleep over for her birthday so I had no choice but to sit through this film, what you do for your kids. But if I am honest, the film was that bad, especially seen as it is more of a teens film. It had a funny and entertaining plot, and although the acting wasnt up to much, still rather enjoyed it, much to my horror, and I havent admitted it until now.
Like I said there, it is for teens, for a no go for anyone under the age of 12, as there are some rudish scenes, and a little bad language, but nothing major, and nothing you dont see in every other film these days. It has a typical and definite predictable storyline, centring around the life of Georgia, your typical teenage girl who has a crush on a boy, see what I mean about it being highly predictable. Throughout the film, see makes it her life to get him, but there is one huge problem, her biggest enemy in the whole world is his girlfriend, a big problem in the world of teens.
There are many sub-plots in the film, each with there own centre character. Along with her quest for a the boy of her dreams, the character has to deal with her parents, and there constant hostile relationship. Watching it on DVD made sure that my daughter want to watch it again and again, somehting which I didnt mind.
