Dunmore East which is located in the sunny south east of Ireland (Well, it’s sunny during the summer anyway!!) is a very picturesque fishing village. It also happens to be the area I was raised in until the tender age of 12. So you can take it that my opinion will be slightly biased towards the better aspects of the beautiful place. Dunmore can be reached by taking the N25 out of Waterford City. Dunmore in Irish means ‘Big Fort' and indeed for those that are interested in history and the like, you can still visit the remains of one of these bif forts in the village. There are two fantastic beaches in the area, Lawlors strand and Councillors beach. Over the last decade or so the village has been modernized and it has lost some of it’s old cosy little village appeal. Other attractions in the area include the Adventure Centre at Stoney Cove, Golf Course, and several gourmet restaurants which serve freshly caught fish.
Spanking and hitting is, from what I can see, one of the most controversial discipline methods used today. Some parent’s think it’s ok, other’s are totally against it and then somewhere in the middle you have the parent who think that it’s justified in certain particular instances. The general consciences of people is that hitting people is wrong, yet many find it acceptable to spank (hit!) children because they feel it will teach them to refrain from doing things which are forbidden or encourage them to do what they should be doing. The question at the heart of the matter is …does Spanking work? I have a feeling that continual spanking does not work. How often have you heard somebody say that they used to get spanked and that it never did them any harm? Well my question is why did they need to be continually spanked? If it is such an effective form of discipline then why does it constantly need to be repeated? The problem, I feel, is that spanking fails to provide an alternative behavioral pattern for the child to follow. Indeed the lesson often may come across as being that they should try harder not to get caught the next time. Spanking (or hitting) is only one of the many, many factors that need to be addressed with a child. The whole area of deciding how to discipline children should be governed by the question “What do you want or accomplish by disciplining your child?” If you want your children to be able to make good choices on their own then I feel that spanking or slapping may not be the answer.
I would have to say that this is certainly on of the better online music distribution sites that I have used. This time last year I used the site quite often. My usage has declined recently however as Sterling has become so strong that it is just as cheap the but the cd's here in Ireland. The site itself is fairly basic with the operators, I think, going for quality of service as their main sales pitch. I have never had to wait for more than 5 days for my cd's to arrive. The actual collection of cd's that they maintain isn't great either. True they always have the top 75 in the charts. But if you are looking for some classic then you may not find it here. Most albums cost £8:99 (Sterling) and with no shipping or delivery charges you will do well to get non-pirate cd's cheaper anywhere else.
I've being betting through this particular site for a couple of months now and find that it is quite user friendly. Initially I received a free £45 introductory bet but before you start getting excited I believe that this offer has now ceased. I don't have any major complaints to make about betting with VC except for the fact that they are a little slow to send out your money whe you request payment from them. Well that and the fact that I rarely win enough money to request them to send it out anyway. But hey that is down to my poor betting tips. If anyone knows how to make money let me know asap !!
I find it hard to understand why people are so surprised that "King Kevin" resigned as soon as he came under some real pressure. Are peoples memories so short that they cannot recall his Newcastle days ? He didn't leave because of the reason that he gave at the time. If I remember correctly he stated that he felt that he had taken the team as far as he possibly could. In reality he could not handle the pressure of keeping Newcastle near the top once he had got them there. Fair enough, he seems like a genuine enough fellow. However, I don't think that this in itself is enough to justify managing an inter-national side. He was the wrong man for the job. Now getting back to the job itself, I don't think that I'd wish it on anyone unless they can be really sucessful. I feel that the problem with the English team is in the way they think. Maybe it's an English characteristic...How people can boo the likes of Beckham for an entire season because of a sending off and then expect him to perform wonders is a mystery to me. I'm Irish and proud to be so. I was watching The Republic the other night after England has lost to a poor German side. Ireland worked hard and got a draw away to Portugal. And this was a team with 2 centre backs that would struggle to get into the top 10 -15 premiership teams. The thing with the Irish is that they go into each match knowing that the whole country is behind them 100 %. That is not so say that people might not like a particular player, or a manager. Far from it. But when push comes to shove, chances are that those same people will be their supporting those players to help the Irish team do well. The number of top quality players that are in the English squad is amazing. And it's even more amazing that they underperform so often while in an English shirt. No wonder the manager's job is not sought after !!
I have to admit that from the opinions that I have read so far the English version of the Star is vastly different from it's Irish conterpart. From what I have read the English Star tends to be similar to the Sun and that cannot be good.(See my opinion on the sun!) The Irish Star in the other hand tends to contains a lot of actual news which is unusual for a tabloid of this type ! The sports section is top class and it carries a lot of GAA stories which I find particularily enjoyable. There is even a pullout supplement after the big matches on the weekend. So I suspose that if you happen to visit Ireland get a copy of the Irish star and make your own accessment. I will do the same with the Daily Star the next time I visit England.
Last night Nicola was nominated which to be honest hind of surprised me. I was sure that Thomas was going to go this week. I think that Nicola will be voted out of the house by the public too. She seems to be lost in the house with her partner in crime, Caroline. The thing about Nicola is that she just seems to be there for the experience of the whole thing. She does not have the attitude that she must win at all costs. As a result she does not go around trying to influence other peoples opinion of her. This makes her come across as being argumentetive when in fact I feel she is just being herself while others in the group are putting on a big act.
Recycling is about the most useful thing that a person could do with a copy of the Sun newspaper. How people can but a paper to read almost daily about what Beckham and Posh are doing is beyond me. I think that it is a sad reflection on the society of today that people have nothing better to do with their lives than read the abuse that a paper prints about two celebrities. The campaign that they formed against one of the occupants in the big Brother household is another example of it's foolishness. Do they not realise that these people were put in that house to win the prize money. What ever tactics the contestants use are up to their own discretion. I don't think that it's right to make them out to be some kind of hate figure !!
I reckon that this show is past it. They need to get rid of that silly presenter and get someone whi is actually funny. A lot of new clips are needed as well because oa lot of the ones appearing at the moment come across as being staged and badly at that. Now don't get me wrong. I think that a lot of the clips are quite funny. But the problem arises when you are seeing a lot of the clips for the second and third time. The funniness tends to wear off. I reckon that it's time for some new material and a new presenter.
Silent Hill is a unique survival horror game. The main character is a "regular" guy searching for his daughter. Once you start playing this game you will find yourself hooked. But be warned that this game will not be to the liking of everyone. There is an often disturbing atmosphere to the game. The graphics contain a lot of fog and are often dark. I found the puzzles to be fairly straightforward and easy enough to work out.. Although a short adventure (8-10 hours), it's not one that you'll soon forget. If you like Resident Evil then I would recommend this game..
This is definitely one of the harder games that you will come across. I reckon that it is the hardest game that I have ever played on the Playstation. The reason that it is so hard is that you have to master every of your ship to finish the game. Though early levels require a bit of memorization of enemy patterns, higher levels have all sorts of challenges, including the final boss of R-Type, which is based on pure reflexes, concentration and skill as enemies pour in from all sides. Other stages are just brilliant, such as the assault against the massive mothership.
I have rented this game out once and I don’t think that I will be renting it out again. I found that it was a very annoying game to play. Any game that requires you to hold 2 buttons just to open a door would drive me nuts. I died a good number of times because of the bad controls(well that’s what I am going to blame anyway!). But having said that the gameplay is actually too easy. Once you have got used to the controls then the game itself takes you no time at all to get through.
I thought that this game was awesome. The game provides you with a huge variety of realistic weapons and the enemy maneuvers and tactics are incredible. The Nazis back each other up, hide behind corners when they see you and when you throw grenades at them they run away, throw them back, or they will send a dog to pick it up and run towards you. I would have to say that the graphics could have been better. On the other hand nearly everything else in the game is brilliant, ranging from the soundtrack to the realistic weapons. If you haven’t played this game yet then make sure that you do so soon.
Grand Theft Auto is a game for Adults only and the game was designed with adult entertainment in mind. It is not for the squeamish either. If you have no problem with savage and unforgiving violence and pointless swearing and you want lush, vivid colors then get this game. I would say though that you should not take the game seriously as it is fantasy not reality. It is a game with a sense of humor, and that is all that is required of those who dare take on the challenge of GTA.
The first time that I played this game I had only rented it and as a result I didn’t get to spend a lot of time playing it. This is the type of game that you have to keep playing for a while in order to get “hooked”. But when you do, as I did when I later borrowed it from a friend, you will find it hard to stop playing it until you have it finished. With two different story lines you will spend ages trying to complete them both. The controls are easy enough to master and the graphics are pretty good as well. It is a must have for any playstation owner
