      Disadvantages

      Good basic product

      Intro

As everyone knows, the pinnacle of fitness and an example of how to show it is best described by having great ab muscles. Not many people realise that this comes from a combination of good eating, and strong 3x a week ab exercise, hitting the variety of different ab muscles that you have. This little product, a mainstay in most gyms, will help you with the latter, meaning that if your diet is good, you will very quickly have a good set of abs on you.

      The product
      ---------------
The product is essentially a rocker, you place your head on the nice bit of padding at the back, put your arms on the top, where the blue pads are, and rock in a crunch like fashion. If this gets a bit easy, you can add weight to make it harder.

This product is like a cheaper, slightly less good quality version of the thing you see in most good gyms. However, that does not mean it is rubbish. It perhaps won't take as much of a beating as the gym alternative, but then only you are going to be using it, not a host of sweaty gym folk. It easily allows you to do the workout you do in the gym, in the comfort of your own home.

      Opinion
      ----------
I like having this about the house, despite it being my mums, as it really means you can target the abs hard. After a hard weights session at my gym, it is really difficult to drum up the courage to do some ab work. This product means I can take on the abs on off gym days, meaning I get better recovery, whilst also feeling fit, healthy and hurting the abs.

HOWEVER - TAKE NOTE. DO NOT EXPECT THIS PRODUCT TO GIVE YOU A SIX PACK IF YOU EAT RUBBISH. GOOGLE DIETING TO BUILD MUSCLE IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR FURTHER ADVICE. A COMBINATION OF THE TWO WILL WORK WONDERS.

      Summary
      ------------
At just £10, this is a great budget product.

      Revolutionary golf

      Intro
      ------
Obviously when I first took up golf, I wanted to ensure that I was interested in it and enjoyed playing before I went out and spent all my pocket money on some clubs and all the equipment needed. I played with my Grandpa, who had just upgraded his clubs from these Ping Eye 2's. He therefore said I could have them until I get settled into the sport. What an introduction they were, and I loved playing with them every time, and really developed my interest into the sport of golf.

      The Eye2's
      -------------
Firstly, as you can tell from these reviews on the product, these clubs are dated now. My grandpa has sinced passed away but the clubs are still in pristine condition in my garage, after he had played with them for 2 years and me for about the same time again. What this does tell you, is that quality always shows.

Ping are a really established brand, they make quality products time and time again, ranging from clothing to clubs, so you really can be sure that if you make a large investment into their products, that they are going to see you through.

The Eye 2's in their day were great clubs. The best thing about them was the sweet spot, it was fantastically large. This meant that if you were only really learning how to play golf and shanked the occasional shot then you would most probably get away with it. Obviously the ball would not travel as far, but at least it would go in the right direction.

I remember the downside was that they were fairly dismal in wet conditions. I think this was because of the grips being used a lot, or possibly down to me being a poor wet golfer, failing to adjust my grip accordingly, but I always used to have bad rounds with them. I know that they were a good few years old, which might explain it, and might be harsh on the clubs, but I was looking for a downside and it was the only real thing that made me uneasy about ever playing with them.

      Price
      ------
You could pick these up really cheaply now, which if you are on a budget would be a great option. Buy a set of these over a budget set of new clubs.

      Summary
      -----------
A product way ahead of its time and something which could still easily be used at the highest level today.

      Disadvantages

      Good club

      Intro
      ------
My long game has always been a strength of mine on the golf course. Where others start to fret about long par 5's and how long it is going to take them to get there, I have always been confident that, barring mistakes, I will be able to make the yardage, but possibly not the accuracy. I am the man that worries about the little par 3's and taking short iron clubs, so I never really thought about a big hitting driver. I had been using just a cheap £30 from Sports Direct, which had been perfectly serviceable. However, my Pro told me that I would be better off driving home my advantage on the long holes by trying out this club, so I did, and instantly brought it home.

      The Driver
      -------------
Firstly, the make, Ping are a recognized golf brand for quality. They manufacture a variety of products, from clothes to clubs, and you can always be assured of quality, so I thought this was always going to be an advantage.

This driver has been updated from the Ping G2, and the weighting of the club has been changed to allow for lower drives, thus generating more distance. Cut a long story short - this works.

My drives have gone from good to sublime, and I even hit the green on my shortest par 4 hole at my course the other day. It has probably added a good 30 yards on a clean hit, and the balls flight is superb. Straight as anything, always about 20 feet off the floor.

In terms of durability, I am sure that this will last. As i said, it is a great make, and I have no issues with this side of the product so far, and cannot wait to keep using it.

So, it is light, looks nice, adds about 10 percent to your drives, and should be considered whether your tee shots are a strength OR a weakness.

      Price
      ------
I believe this can be picked up nowadays for about £75 and is worth every penny of that in my humble opinion!

A good product from a brand you can trust.

We are regular campers, in fact I am writing this review from a site down in Cornwall, hastily reviewing all the products that we are using whilst on our trip. We brought this one with us, as it is always tricky to dry big towels on a campsite, particularly with our usual weather being perhaps a little worse than in more warmer destinations. It is small, compact, easy to transport and does a good job, that is all you can ask from this little product.

      The Towel
      -------------
I am unaware as to whether this is available in any different sizes, but mine is about 1m by something slightly larger. This means that it is quite a small towel actually, but this has to be what you are looking for when camping. Something which is compact, small and easy to carry is always a bonus in this surrounding.

The best part about it is the absorbent aspect of the towel. It claims, on the packaging, that it is 10x more absorbent, and this is believable when you use it. It also dries extremely quickly. We have ours out on our makeshift washing line and it does dry in just an hour or two. Perfect.

      Price
      ------
It can be bought for £8.99 from Amazon, thats where we got ours from.

Good little camping product that ticks all the boxes.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      Novelty product

      Intro
      ------
Many people are quick to brand golf as boring or something that only people who are retired should do, and this is mainly due to the stuck up and cliquey nature of some courses and their policies. However, that is a horrid stereotype and something that certainly is not true all over the country. One way to break the mold and tradition is to buy these Go Golf Ice Balls, which are extremely vivid and colorful. You certainly will not spend much time looking for these on the course, and you should be able to spot them a mile off. However, what are they like to use?

      The balls
      -----------
So then, you open the box and you get a certain color of ball and take it out onto the course. I have to say that the length of the ball is not fantastic, in that it really did not travel that well for me. The feel around the green was also quite heavy which led to me under hitting a number of short iron shots. This was frustrating. Getting spin on the ball too was rather tricky, and certainly not something I could do on a regular basis, thus I see them more as a novelty factor, than a great ball.

      Final Word
      -------------
Good to buy as a gift, but definitely not anything special and perhaps something to keep for the crazy golf courses!

Right then, perhaps the most bizarre of my introductions to these pieces, but I have just arrived for my camping holiday and my airbed has developed a tasty hole in it on the journey - I am blaming the table but haven't actually located the culprit yet. Anyway, this has forced me down to the little shop on site to buy a replacement and found that their airbeds were a bit pricy. However, they had one of these Vango self-inflators for just £14.99, so I have purchased and have to say that it looks good.

      The mat
      ----------
The mat is rectangular, which is nice because these jobs often come in a horrid mummy shape, which just leads to you falling off in the middle of the night. Anyway, it is ridiculously easy to inflate. Simply take off the little nozzle to let it take in the air, and hey presto you have a nice thick mat to sleep on. This version is 5cm thick, which is easily ample to get you a good distance from the ground.

It is nice and comfy to lay on too, I feel stable and do not feel like I am going to be falling off in the middle of the night which is always something you appreciate for a good camping bed.

For the purposes of this review, and my curiosity, I did let the mat down again, which is easily done also. Simply roll it up like you would a normal air bed and the air comes flying out quite quickly, and it easily rolls up into the little bag it comes in, so it is nice and portable too.

It doesn't weigh much once you have got the air out, and seems like a really good equivalent to having to bring an airbed up and down the country.

      Pricewise
      ------------
As i said, the camping shop down here in Cornwall sold me this for just £14.99, which seems like a bit of a bargain, as online it is around the £20 mark.

      Summary
      -----------
Good alternative to the airbed, and my savior this week.

      Good Tripod

      Intro
      ------
The family and I headed to Canada last year for our last big family holiday with me in tow. I am now deemed too old for any sort of exploration and this was deemed as the final swansong. However, I thought that it would be a great idea to get some great photos of this fantastic country as we headed along it, and bought a new digital camera (which i cannot find to review!). Anyway, the shop had a deal on whereby I got this in the package with it. I had never really considered using a tripod, and didn't really see the value of it, but was never going to turn it down. Although I have not used the tripod extensively, its a bit of a pain to carry round, when i have called on it, it has performed brilliantly and done the exact job I have asked it to do - so i cannot complain.

      The tripod
      -------------
This is not the most developed and modern of products. It is simply 3 little legs with a small stand that fits my camera on to it. I had absolutely no trouble attaching my new camera and get the impression that the stand would fit a number of different devices - indeed, when researching what others thought of the product on here it is suggested that a number of different cameras can be used.

It has 3 little feet, essentially black rubber, which allow the tripod to grip and gain a little bit of purchase onto the surface which you are resting it on. Not only does that guarantee a stable picture but it is very reassuring when your balancing your brand new £200 camera on top of it.

I suppose a downside would be that the tripod cannot be extended up or down, it is either on and used or it is not. This could be an issue if you want to take photos from a height, for example, but this did not concern me greatly and I haven't tested this out.

It is not the nicest product to look at either I suppose, it is cheap and cheerful but it does a good job. I would suggest that the lack of moving parts suggest that it would be quite sturdy.

      Pricewise
      -----------
As i said, i got this thrown in along with a couple of other things when I bought my new camera, but I believe it is only £3-4 if you buy it anyway. It is good value at this money.

      Summary
      -----------
Nice basic tripod that works for those without any great desire to replicate Carl Zeiss shots.

      Great brand

      Intro
      -----
When i started golfing all those years ago, my first round consited of me hacking round with my dads old clubs, in a tatty old bag, probably looking like an absolute tramp who should have been nowhere near the golf course. The clubs were not the issue, they were old, but good quality and still in good enough nick, but what i needed, was a golf bag. I thought that this was going to be expensive and only being young, £40-£50 is a lot of money for a little lads pocket money. However, i went down to my local argos and guess what i found? A great Hippo golf bag for just £25. I bought it there and then, and it was my ally on the courses of Britain for a good 6 years.

      The bag
      ----------
The bag was extremely professional to look at. It was blue and black and of a good size. It had a good 2 pronged stand which allowed you to keep the bag upright, something most similar priced bags simply did not allow you to do. The bag had seperate compartments for the variety of different clubs you owned, and had 4 completely different sized pockets, so that you could keep your sandwiches, waterproofs, balls and tees, water and everything you need for 18 holes all nice and seperate and easy to reach.

It was obviously extremely durable, it was chucked in the boot of cars left, right and centre and it just kept on plugging away. The stand worked throughout the entirity of the 6 years and never looked like breaking down, neither did the zips or anything else - it was a hardy little bag, and it did its job fantastically well for the price.

Carrying wise, it had a lovely padded double strap, which meant that it was comfy and easy to carry around with you. The straps were adjustable so it was good for all ages, especially as I used it whilst i was growing up, and it really was a great servant to me.

      Pricewise
      -----------
As i said, it cost me just £25 which was great value for the product. It really was faultless and signifies what hippo stand for. Quality, at an affordable price.

      Summary
      -----------
Great brand that I would recommend highly to beginner and intermediate golfers.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      Essential!

      Intro
      ------
Having played golf this morning, and landed in the opinion 6 bunkers on the first 5 holes, including a brilliant fairway bunker to green bunker shot on the 3rd, I was looking to review my own personal sand wedge, part of the Mizuno MX17 range. However, I could not find that so I chose to review the use of the sand wedge instead. It is an incredibly important club, not just in the sand, but around the greens and in deep rough too. Although you will hopefully not use it too much (barring todays performance) it is still a worthwhile club to spend a bit of money on, as bunkers can make or break your round!

What is the difference that a sand wedge gives you?
      -------------------------------------------------------------------
Basically, the sand wedge is the club which gives you the second amount of loft in your bag. Actually after the well named lob wedge, the sand wedge is an extremely open faced club, which really lets you get under the ball in order to get it out of the sand mainly, but there are many other uses for it too. You can also open the face of the club further to get more loft, aptly called a lob shout.

When you should break this out?
      -----------------------------------------
Firstly, and perhaps most obviously, you should use the sand wedge in bunkers around the green. In this situation you are hoping to real cut into the sand and behind the ball, allowing you to sweep the ball onto the green and stop it quickly by the flag.

However, there are many other situations where you should think about breaking this club out. After a poor drive for example, you have found yourself in deep rough and need a club to get you out of trouble and back on the fairway, this will do that. If you are behind a tree and need to get over it to reach the green - use this club. Finally, if you are around the green and need to chip on, trying to get the ball to stop rather than roll up to the flag, then this is the club to use.

      Pricewise
      -----------
Like all golf clubs, it really depends what you want to spend. You can pick up individual sand wedges for about £25-70 depending on the standard - however, you are far more likely to buy one as part of a set of clubs, as it fits in the iron category. I bought my mx-17's about 3 years ago for £319 and that was a moderately good set of clubs.

      Summary
      -----------
      Essential for the golf bag.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      Good putter

      Intro
      ------
With the weather as good as it is currently, and after a great morning on the course, I thought it was sensible to review my latest addition to my bag. I had previously been using a cheap putter from my shop, which retailed about £40. However, after playing around on the practice greens with a variety of different putters I really felt confident with this Fisher Golf one, who are a relatively unknown brand in the area, so it surprised me just how good it felt. Obviously putting is something which you need ability and talent to do well, but having a club which breeds confidence to develop that is also essential.

      The putter
      -------------
The putter has a semi circular design, which as well as looking good, actually has a very good purpose. It allows the weight of the putter to stay as central as possible, which means that you naturally swing in a straighter manner, meaning that the ball will go where you aim, and not elsewhere, which is always essential.

It has a nice soft face which ensures you do not get any snooker like kicks when you strike the ball, which can also be pivotal around the green as these will cost you at least one shot. The shaft meets the head right in the centre, which once again has been done on purpose in order to ensure that the weight of the club remains central.

      Experience
      --------------
I have got to say that after considerable time on the putting greens, and 4 rounds of golf, I have been very happy with this putter. It swings naturally and is very honest in the fact that it does exactly what you ask of it. Obviously if you do not line the putt up correctly, it will not go in, but if you do, this really allows you to execute your wishes.

I would recommend a putter head cover for this club though, as it could easily be damaged, particularly the face, which would make the overall effect of the putter less pronounced, so it is good to keep it well protected.

      Price
      ------
I got this for £80, which is a lot of money but for a club that you are going to use for probably around 40 shots with on a hole, it is good to have something you trust.

      Summary
      -----------
      A great putter.

      Disadvantages

      Good product

      Intro
      -----
After hearing the muddy tales of a few people who had previously attended the glastornbury festival, I decided to have a quick look around on the net for portable showers before I made my visit. I quickly found this shower and decided that I had found real value. I quickly ordered it and was very pleased with the product, it allows you to camp in the real outdoors, or at a festival, whilst remaining nice and clean throughout your trip, rather than being avoided by everyone because of your stench only a few days in! All my friends used this too and we were very happy with the product and the fact that we could be fairly clean and on the move.

      The shower
      ---------------
The Yellowstone shower consists of a large bag, a pipe and a nozzle, so it is fairly basic in its design but I think that improves a product. Why complicate life with lots of difficult pieces and attachments, that just makes it nice and easy to use.

The bag is made from plastic with a hole at the top so that you can hang it up into a more natural showering position. At glasto we had a fence near us so we just hung it on that. The idea is that the sun heats it up during the day so that when you get home you have a nice warm shower to clean you off from your day in the mud.

The bag is filled via a removable plug on the front of it and you can take that out to fill the bag full of water from your tap. It is nice and big so that you will easily be able to get your tap inside it to quickly fill it to the top. It holds 20L in total, so that can take a while to fill.

It worked very well. We started using it at the end of the second day and by then it was nice and warm. It was then used regularaly and we filled it back up and left it 24 hours and once again it was nice and warm, so it fills quickly. It is not boiling, but it is warm enough.

      Summary
      -----------
A good shower that can make camping easier.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      Average performance - beginner ball

      Intro
      ------
It has been a long long day, so I thought that I should stick to reviewing a product I enjoy, and this is certainly one of them. If you are a keen reader of mine then you will know I'm a big golf fan, and obviously, the golf ball is an essential piece of kit when heading out for a round on a pleasant summer's morning. However, there are so many different kinds and types, which really suit your needs as to your ability. These cougar balls are dirt cheap - and so are aimed at the beginner sector of the market, which is extremely useful for those trying to get into the game. These will allow you to practice, have fun, without breaking your wallet.

      The balls
      -----------
Length - Firstly, I will reiterate that these are budget golf balls, so do not expect a glowing review. The distance is nothing special, they seem to fly about the length of other budget balls of their type, so perhaps something like a top flite is easily comparable to that. They are eclipsed completely by the likes of Nike, Titleist, Srixon and Calloway.

Feel - Again, not fantastic. The ball doesn't make the nicest sound when coming off the club face which suggests it is not the greatest quality. It also feels quite heavy and lethargic on the greens, and if you want to generate any form of spin then I think you need to be practically Tiger Woods - well not at the moment actually, but you get my drift.

Durability - Better. Played a few rounds with my mate whos learning the game with these the other day and they are still in fine shape. I think that they lack the technological advancements of better balls, but perhaps are still of reputable quality.

Price - The money shot. And why you should consider this ball if you are a new golfer. The balls are about 40-50p each depending on what deal you get. Obviously you buy in half or full dozens, but I have split it down to make it more recognisable. This is quality for a golf ball and you can expect to pay up to about the £3 for a good one such as a Pro V1.

      Summary
      ------------
A good beginner ball, that will not break the bank in a hurry! Recommended for those!

      Disadvantages

      Fun product

      Intro
      -----
Everyone who reads even a few of my reviews will now have realised that I am a keen golfer, and like to spend a lot of my summer on the course just around the corner from my house. However, when I am away at University, it is a little more tricky to hone my skills. Therefore I invested in a few aides to take my game with me. I recently reviewed the chipping net, which was one of them, and now I will review this purchase. My longridge autoputt had to stay at home, it was insisted upon by the very keen golfer father, and so I went online to see what I can find. I got this, and I have to say it has been very much a similar experience, with the same good sides and bad sides.

      The product

So then, you get a typical autoputter returning system. In that you have a small semi circular hole to aim at, this time it comes with a little flag on top, which is quite nice, as it adds something to the authenticity. You then putt your wall, hopefully it will go in, and then it shoots it right back at you, providing you have some batteries, so that you are ready to go again.

The package also comes with a kind of tutorial system. A DVD on how to improve and a ball with arrows on designed to help your game as well. I must confess, I have not used either of these, I have been playing for yonks and have had more lessons than hot dinners, so think I have the technique nailed on, it is just practice that i desire.

The disadvantage of this product, as I stated with the Longridge alternative, is that it is very difficult creating true green conditions. Greens are slanted, slow, fast and always different, so you don't get that playing on a carpet, which is scuffed, on your student flooring. However, it is good fun and it does help your initial aim, if not your actual interpretation of the green, so I still think it is worth a small investment. Even if it doesn't help, it is quite funny making up a crazy putting course in a 4 storey townhouse with mice and other nastiness that you generally find around a student property. It is unlikely that you will encounter mice, mould and vodka on a true course though.

I got this on the net for just £9.99, and have not seen it any cheaper, so it is definitely worth having a good look round on there. For that it is really worthwhile.

Bit of a novelty, but good fun and limited scope for improvement.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      Not a neccessity

      Intro
      ------
Every golfers pride and joy are his clubs and I am sure that all those who read this who play golf will agree with me that they do everything in their power to keep them safe, shiny and at the peak of their performance. This is not just because they will accompany you on a number of lovely rounds, but also because they are very expensive! I fully agree with the buying of woods covers, and so thought I would buy a set of these. However, after using them extensively for about 3 or 4 months I have grown bored, and now have left them in the garage, leaving my irons free to breathe the air that they deserve - this is simply an unneeded product.

      The covers
      -------------
The covers are very good quality, and I want to make it clear that I am not questioning the quality of the Longridge product, but the actual need for the product itself. They are made from a synthetic leather, which is also waterproof, and they have zips on the back which snugly wrap around your iron heads.

The one plus point I suppose is that they fit over either oversize or normal irons, which is handy as it means that you are not going to be struggling to get these on and off, however, I found that they simply became annoying.

They have the number of iron written onto them, which is a good feature, as you do not want to be hopelessy searching around for the right club all day do you. That would certainly not add to your round!

      My experience
      ------------------
The reason i dislike this product is that I found that I simply became wary of taking and putting on covers for clubs which you use the most on your round. It is easy enough to use wood or putter covers, because you use them once a hole, but irons are used all the time.

I also do not really think they need protecting from walking round the course. These are your heavy duty clubs, and I think they are just fine in the golf bag.

Not a bad product, but a silly idea.

        Disadvantages

        Disappointing airbed.

        Intro
        -----
We bought this in anticipation for our latest camping trip, and it also works well when family friends are over as you can blow it up in a spare room and you can entertain till your hearts content. Air beds are a great idea in that they can be blown up anywhere and attempt to replicate the real scenario of a decent mattress without any notice. It can be easily transported without too much effort which makes it a great alternative to those stupid little camping mats which essentially make you sleep on the ground. However, this probably won't do that, as it goes down overnight anyway, so you end up on the floor!

        The bed
        ----------------
The airbed has a shiny bottom with a more padded top. I think this is so you can fit sheets to it and they won't slip around when you are trying to get to sleep - which would not really help anyone. It is a good double size, even bigger than a normal size double I would suggest, and you can easily fit two people on it with a good deal of room left over.

        Performance
        ----------------
Unfortunately the area where this product is let down in my opinion. The few times we have used it we have always woken up slightly closer to the ground than when we went to bed. In our recent camping trip we had to blow it up every other night because otherwise we would have been sleeping with the worms. Obviously you are paying good money for the product so you want it to work, otherwise you may as well just get one of those mats.

I think this occurs because it has a quick release valve for taking air out. However, because this is quite large I believe that it lets air escape and this is where the trouble is created. I don't think this adds anything to the product so it is a real shame.

This product can be purchased online for somewhere around the £25-30 mark, which is good value when you compare it to the single equivalent.

Good idea, shame about the execution.
