This is a huge game, with a massive amount of scope, however it is not without its flaws.
Set in the post apocalyptic future, you play as a recent escapee from one of the many 'vaults' that protected you from the nuclear war. Now exploring around the Capital Wasteland, your on a mission to find you father and fulfill your destiny.
On your way you will encounter a huge amount of realistic characters with many side quests, offering the chance to earn bottle-caps (the in-game currency) or any number of new weapons and items.
The controls are slick and easy, and the absence of an auto-aim is aided with the VATS system. This allows you to momentarily pause the game, and spent action points on the chance to shoot a specific part of the enemy's body (there is a % chance of a successful hit displayed during VATS).
The only problem with fallout is the land in which the game takes place. Where it is obviously realistic to the setting, when compared to the vibrant land of Bethesda last game (The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion), there is a distinct lack of life in the land.
Otherwise, its an excellent game, any RGP fan would enjoy.
I'll start off by saying that i preferred GTA: San Andreas. To thouse of you who have played this installment of Grand Theft Auto, what i just said is probably blasphemy. This said i loved San Andreas. I also loved this game and enjoyed it thoroughly, but i think i liked the option to travel away from the city, something you cant do in GTA 4, but that hardly matters with such a city. The amount of work they put into creating this breathing city, it is almost as if the game is more about the city then it is the main character. There are many different non-playable characters each with their own mumblings that they utter as you walk past. There are a number of side missions that interact with this characters, sometimes a chance encounter. Its all fun.
The main character Niko is an eastern European immigrant that is trying to find someone from his past. You progress through his search, never quite reaching the heights that are set as goals in past GTA games, as the ending comes around, you haven't really made it that far from where you started, but it is a good ride.
I would recommend this game to anyone, GTA fan or not. It offers so much to do, with an enjoyable storyline.
This is a game that i have heard raving reviews for. So when i found it for £10 on the PC, the version which is suppose to be the platform superior, how could i say no. I wasn't really disappointed, but i do seemed to have missed what everyone was talking about.
Now this is a good game. Its nicely structured, got an interesting storyline, and is quite simply fun to play. However i do have a few problems. First off is the amount of dialogue that is. The story is good, but i found that often i just wanted to get on and learn/do something different. To progress though, it seemed to be essential to listen to the characters repeat the points that they made rather a few too many times. The chance to choose you answer to them made for a nice treat though. Another thing i didn't like was that it seemed a tad short. I'm sure that if i tried, i could find some extra side quests to complete, however the main story lasted me around 12 hours. Which for a shooter is fair, but this was sold as an RPG. 12 hours just seems a bit short. Over all it is a good a fun gam, and worth a look if you find it cheap.
This was the first film i saw at the cinema. It is now my favorite film ever. However this version (the Musical Masterpiece edition) was just a tad disappointing.
It was been a few years since Disney released their 2 disc special edition of Aladdin, and i missed my chance that time. Now they have come back and this version is now available. Its has next to no special features, only a sing-along mode which was a little poor really. The only difference is that there are subtitles when the songs start. It has the lyric book included which is good, but you'd think they could make a bit more of an effort. Maybe something like a stylised font, and an indication of when to sing. Something to show that they are not just releasing this to make a bit more money.
Personally i would rather the 2 disc edition, but i will have to make do until they rerelease it.
All that said its still fun fun fun.
I loved the series of Death Note. It sucked me in and wouldn't let go, even after it had finished. This said i was really excited when i heard of a live action film, its just a shame that they seemed to have missed the mark.
This live action version of the popular series places the student Light as he uses a mystical Note Book that can cause death, against a fellow student trying to take him down, only known as L. Based on the anime and manga, it follows a slightly different story, but that would be expected. The film wouldn't be much if it was just the same thing but with real people. The problem though is that the director just seemed to miss the point. The characters are all wrong, and nothing like their anime counterparts who you could make some connection to. Even Ryuk the best character in the series was amazingly badly animated. It was just on the whole a disappointment. I just hope they can make some improvements for the sequel.
This is the anniversary collection of street fighter games that include all the incarnations of street fighter II on one disc. However included on the XBox version is the complete back log of Street Fighter III games. Fair enough there are only 3 Street Fighter III games, but they were not released outside of the U.S. or Japan. The U.S. only got one version i think.
Everyone knows how good Street Fighter II is, but III is the reason to buy this set. Its just as fun as II, keeping some of the obvious characters such as Chun Li, Ryu and Ken, and adding some more. Most of the new characters are not very good in my opinion, but fun to try at least once. The animation is smooth and fast, and it is accommodating for new players. It's not easy to get hold of, and can set you back £15/20 on ebay, which is rather a lot for an old game. Well worth it for a street fighter fan though.
(Remember its only the XBox version that comes with Street Fighter III, the PS2 version only has II)
This is the story of the legendary outlaw of Australia. How he came to be and his untimely death. On the whole i found it to be rather a pleasant watch. It wasn't too difficult and i felt that i may have learnt something from watching. Of course being based on a true person the events in the film have to be taken with a pinch of salt. However i didn't really know anything before seeing the film and so at least i know roughly of his existence.
Staring the late Heath Ledger, and the Pirates of the Caribbean star, Orlando Bloom, its a well acted story. Orlando isn't bad in it, but Heath takes centre stage, and acts out the role with fair conviction. No complaints there. Naomi Watts wasn't to shabby either, though suffered from a rather small role.
On the whole it wasn't anything amazing, but it was still an enjoyable film
For those of you who play games, its almost certin that you know of the website Gamespot.com Its a very good website. Giving reviews and previews to pretty much every game for the last 10ish years. On this site they have a show every thursday called 'on the spot' Now this used to be really good. However in the last year, the best people from it either left or were fired (and no-one knows why). Well there is hope, in the form of the Giant Bomb.
Jeff Gerstmann and Ryan Davis have teamed up to create their own gaming website. Now this is nowhere nears as extensive as gamespot. For one thing they've been going for only a few months, and there (from my gathering), is only around 5 of them working there. However it is still a jolly good read.
Back as they were, they both carry a humor that is sadly missing now from gamespot. Often when watching this videos, or listening to their podcast i find i am giggling to myself.
They only have a limited amount of information on the website, and its certainly not somewhere to go it you wish to research any game in particular. However if you just want some new gaming news, and a laugh along they way. Check it out.
Pure comedy. Thats what this film is. I enjoy a good sci fi film, and i enjoy star trek. But this is not high up there on my good sci fi films. No no, its up on my comedy list (not that i actually have lists, but you get whjat i mean)
In this Captain James T Kirk has to take his ship (which due to events in the film before is a Klingon 'Bird of Prey') back to the 1980s to save some whales and in such, saving the would in his time. Its an amusing premise, and an even more amusing film. With one liners all over the shop. 'I'm looking for the nuclear wesles'. Whats funnier then that?
The film touches on some serious issues about the hunting of whales, but it simply comes off as cheesy.
It would be typical star trek, but seeing as its set in 1980's then its not that typical.
When i was a teenager, it was not thought a good thing to like Star Trek. Scrap that, it wasn't a good thing at any point in my life. My dad used to disuade watching it (not in a horrible way, but if i did watch it then i would have to put up with comments from him), and if it wasn't my dad it was my sister. Star Trek has such a stigma that i never thought to enjoy watching it, but to join the opposition against it. Only recently have i seen the error of my ways.
To this extent i have recently been buying the films and this was the one that i last watched.
In it both Captian Kirk and Picard play a part in saving a planet from a mad scientist. Its a plesent story, however not to deep that is worth a watch for any star trek fan. However i found it a bit weak at times. It was nice to see both the captins helping each other.
The thing that caught me with this film was the effects and sound. It has the best i have yet seen in any Star Trek film (though i do have a few to get through).
My main issue was with the story. It would have been nice to see more of a story arc that has already been established then having the spin off feel. But ah well. Its only one in 10
Ive been eating coco pops for years. Seeing as I am in my 20's now and i am still eating them, i can say that with honesty. And i am still not bored of them.
I remeber when i was little and i used to get all sorts of cerial just to get the toy inside. My dad was never very happy with that as he was the one who used to end up eating them all. However i always enjoyed Coco Puffs. That was one that i did eat all of. Though sometimes i would get another pack even before i had finished the last (just to get another toy)
Now i no longer buy the actual branded one, but go for the shop own-brand. Theres no difference but in the price and lack of toys.
Since the advert last year i have often eaten this with hot milk. I would well recommend that as it is rather tasty.
One bad point though is that it is more of a snack food. I find that if i have it for breakfast i am hungry soon after.
I remember when i was young i used to watch the Battlestar Galactica series from the 70s, and i loved it. I was like star wars only it was on the telly. I didn't see them all, but i liked it all the same. When i heard there was a remake i didn't really pay it much attention, believing it would just be like all other greats remade. However i was really pleased when i gave this a watch.
The story is that of a distant civilisation who created A.I. machives called the Cyclons, and had them turn on them. After 20 years since the machines turned, their back and blowing everything up.
This show works so well because its realistic. The people act as you think they would in the real situation, rather then the glossy fakeness of most shows.
They have changed much from the original, but i like it. Rather then just making it the same with new fancy graphics, its a different story. Something new to get into.
When i was little i was a big fan of the original film. Then a year ago i head there was a sequel. And this one was not simply putting the names and 'characters' to new actors and a terrible storyline only to make somemoney. This was a real sequel with the same fun people and a story to match the original.
The second installment of Bill and Ted, tells of how they become the big stars of which was touched apon in the original.
This offers some new charcters such as Death, who is one of the greatest characters ever created.
I found that i was laughing all the way through. However i found that it took a while before the story got on its way. This didnt really hinder the experience though. There are some changes from the original, but its a film to compete with and possibly even be better.
A few years ago i started watching this film, however half way through i was interupted and was forced to stop watching. It was in the sale for £5 and i thought i'd give it another go. Im glad i did.
This is a clever film. It must have been difficult to film, but it was worth it. This film is about a man with a very odd conditition where he has no short term memory. He knows who he is, and can remember everything up to the point of an incedent (you can find out what when you watch the film). Throughout the film he is trying to find out what happened.
Now this is one clever film where everything happens backwards. its a good idea, and makes for fun watching. However if you don't concentrate then you'll miss it all. On many occasions i forgot what was going on. It makes a very strange experience when watching.
Recently i bought a new computer with a grather good graphics card. So one of the first things i thought of doing, was seeing if it could run this game. I thought this more as an experiment then anthing else. Iv'e heard its got the best graphics seen in any game ever. Sadly my computer can't run it at top spec, but i found the game to be suprisingly enjoyable anyways.
There's not much in the way of a deep storyline, but its not a game where you need one. Basically your saving some scientists from the Koreans and theres some Aliens involved as well. However the game is just so much fun to play.
The main 'thing' to the game is the nano suit which your wearing that allows you to do things such as super strength, speed armour and my fave, cloak. This and the open endedness of the levels makes it very fun to keep trying again and again to complete the objectives in different ways.
I play it with the graphics set at medium, and its just as good as my 360, so at very high, i cant imagin what that will be like, i just look forward to the day i can see it.
