      Advantages

      • Reliability

      Disadvantages

      Easy installation, fast

      Introduction
      ##########

I wanted a way in which I could (easily) transfer files between my main computer and my laptop. The first thing which springed to mind was a USB data stick - but this was abit tedious at times plugging and unplugging all the time. I saw this data cable on eBuyer for £14.99 and thought this was the ticket!

So here is my review on this cable.

      Who is it For?
      ###########

This is for people who want to transfer data between computers, that maybe laptops or computers or a combination. You can leave the device plugged in so there is always that transfer available (just like your on a network in a sense).

      The Cable
      #########

Manufactured with a reinforced plastic cable, it is a strong durable cable. The colour of the whole device is grey witch light grey cabling. The working of the device is simple. Imagine a cable with USB plugs on each end with a little box in the middle - and that's it. what's inside the little box between the cable; I don't know - I would guess this is what regulates the file transfer, memory of some sort which buffers the data between the computers.

This is USB 2.0 which means it will transfer your files in the highest speed possible with the latest USB. If you are still on the old USB - don't despair - it will still work for you but at the lower speed.

      The Installation
      #############

This is REALLY short and sweet. Simply plug one end into one computer and the other end into the other using the USB port. And that's it! that's your installation. It's that simple. Windows picked up the new device on each computer and installed it on its own. I am a Windows XP user - I don't know how other operating systems will react and install this device.

      The Transfer
      ###########

Okay, so once the installation was complete, file transfer between one computer to the other is just as simple. You just use the The Windows Easy Transfer wizard to transfer the file(s). The transfer speed is rather fast, 1GB took about 2 minutes.

You can transfer data either way, i.e between computer 1 & 2 and also the other way around; computer 2 & 1 ; you can do this without having to unplug or do anything else.

      Conclusion
      #########

This is a really simple device which lets you transfer files in the simplest way possible - there are no limits with data size like data pens. This is highly recommended.

        Advantages

        • Reliability

        Disadvantages

Really good and useful if you are testing PSUs

        Introduction
        ##########

When I heard of this I thought "this is a really neat piece of kit" - if you are a computer builder, or just want something to test your power supply unit for your computer without installing it in your computer, then this is for you.

        What is it?
        #########

Normally when you get a power supply unit (PSU) for your computer, you will need to open up your computer and install it, this means unwiring everything and connecting this up - this can take a lot of time. By the way those of you who don't know what a PSU in a computer is; if you look at the back of your computer, it's the thing blowing hot air out at the top.

What this power supply tester does is test the PSU without a computer being present!

        How to Use It
        ############

It's really simple. You just plug your main PSU power cable in the power tester, and plug the PSU into the wall socket - and you're ready to go! You will hear the PSU being to fireup and a green light will show on the tester if the test is successful, and if its not been successful then a red light will show.

This tester will test all 12v units with ease. I have tested many units with this from all manufacturers from OEM to Dell.

The only thing I would say is, if you leave the unit running for longer periods the tester will get very hot. But this is normal, it even says on the instructions that it will get hot and it's completely normal.

        Conclusion
        ##########

A really useful kit if you are always testing power supply units, if not then this will not be very much use to you.

          Disadvantages

Nice addition to your computer setup

          Introduction
          ##########

These cables were on sale on eBuyer come time ago. I was purchasing some items from the site and thought id throw this in too. It was only £1.99.

          The Cable
          ########

The cable is just like a standard USB cable which fits from your appliance to your computer (eg. Digital camera, scanner, printer etc). But this one is abit special - it has really cool lights in it :- )

This is a universal cable, which will fit all appliances and can be used to replace a broken or faulty manufactures cable, or just use this because of the lights.

The lights are in either end of the fittings, they do not require any additional power supply, all the power is taken from the computer when plugged in. the rest of the cable is made with reinforced transparent cable; this does not light up, but as the rest of the cable is transparent - the lights from either flows through the cable reinforcement and makes it look like that is glowing too. It looks really nice.

This one I purchased was nearly 2m long, which is more than adequate for any normal use.

Concerning the performance of the cable, I have not noticed any lower, or higher performance when using this cable than any other. So it is no different than any other.

What more can I say? - it's a nice little addition to your computer setup, and at £1.99 you cant really complain.

            Advantages

            Disadvantages

It really works, my hair is thicker, and lower hair loss

            Introduction
            ##########

After trying American Crew products and learning that their products really did work I decided to invest in this kit for thinning hair. This kit is designed to help people who have thinning hair and also suffer from hair loss. After prolonged use the main goal of this product is to extend the time cycle of the hair (so it doesn't fall out) and also thicken the thinning hair.

I purchased this from the official store for £24.99 and there is 45 days supply.

            The Kit
            ######

You get the following items in the hair thickening kit.

            250ml Shampoo
            250ml Conditioner
            175ml Spray Solution

Please note that there are two varieties of this kit. There is a regular box (this is the blue one) this is used for normal to oily hair. Then there is the orange box which is for dry hair.

Let's break down the kit and review each item individually:

Shampoo - As I've said with all my American crew products - the smell is heavenly! You just need a small amount on your hand, and apply to your wet hair. It lathers up really well, I take care not to use too much otherwise it wont last 45 days! And you might run out and have the rest of the kit lying around! The shampoo works really well in removing grease from oily hair, and leaves the scalp feeling really fresh. It washes out really easily too.

Conditioner - again the smell is really nice. I use a small amount and apply it after rinsing off the shampoo. I leave the conditioner in my hair while I shower the rest of my body. Then rinse off the conditioner. The conditioner really does ring life back to your hair, you can feel that the hair is much healthier.

Spray Solution - this is the main thing in the kit - this is what its all about. This solution have concentrated chemicals which you spray on to your scalp after using the shampoo and conditioner. This solution will revitalize the hair, and help prolong the life cycle of each strand, help reduce hair loss and help thicken your hair. As this is a concentrated solution you only need to mist around your head, and then I work it in with my fingers into my scalp. When you leave the bathroom - you can smell the solution on your hair, it smells like you've just left the barbers! Really nice!

            Conclusion
            ##########

This is an amazing kit, it has everything you need, and ive noticed less hair loss in the bath, and my hair thickening. Ive been using the kit for a full 45 days and now started on another kit and will keep using it. it comes highly recommended if you supper from thinning hair and/or hair loss.

              Disadvantages

              Excellent!

              Introduction
              ##########

With my Sony Vaio laptop this docking station was included as a package. It usually retails at around £140 - so here is my review.

              What is it?
              #########

Before I go on with the review lets just get to grips with what it really is. Simply put it's a docking station - this means you put your laptop on it - and it allows you to replicate the ports that are on your laptop. So take this scenario - you are at work, you have everything connected upto your laptop, external keyboard, external mouse, external projector...and it comes time to go home - what do you do? You will have to pull all the cables out and then pack up your laptop to take home...now lets look at this scenario when using the port replicator docking station....you go to work, sit your laptop on the docking station, plug everything into the docking station (not your laptop); now when it comes time to go home, you simply take off your laptop from the station and packup! Everything is left plugged into the station for tomorrow.

Let's get one thing clear. When you place you laptop on the station there is a connection between the laptop and the station, so that's how the ports are replicated.

So now that you understand the use, let's get on with the review.

              The Ports
              ########

              3 x Hi-Speed USB - 4 PIN USB Type A
              1 x network - Ethernet 10Base-T/100Base-TX/1000Base-T - RJ-45
              1 x display / video - VGA - 15 pin HD D-Sub (HD-15)

These ports are really useful, USB - you may have an external keyboard, mouse and a printer plugged in at the office. Network connection for your office internet access, and the display port for a large monitor or projector, the VGA is a universal port which is on all display units these days...so you have everything you would need for the office.

              Who is it for?
              ###########

Well if you have a Sony Vaio TZ series laptop then it will be compatible with this. It is designed for people who have lots of connections to the laptop at home or in the office, and want a "quick release system" and simply pickup the laptop and go.

              Conclusion
              #########

This is a very cleaver piece of kit, I use it at home all the time for the printer, and mouse. But at £140 I would not have purchased it separately if it had not been included with my laptop purchase.

              It comes highly recommended.

              Introduction
              ###########

My office goes through lots of computer cleaning products, this was a sample sent to us from our supplier for us to test, and if we liked it, could order more. So here is my review of what I thought about this product.

              What's In The Box?
              ################

              You get the following:

              87ml Foamclene
              100ml Screen-Clene
              4 pairs Ultraclene
              1 Keyboard Cleaning Card
              50 Computiss

Okay so lets break it up.

The Foamclean - this is designed to use on the external parts of the computer, or monitor (not the screen) for all plastic / metal parts, this also includes the keyboard. For the keyboard I made sure to spray on a cloth and as its fizzing, I went over the keyboard - this was because I didn't want any liquids inside the workings - just being precautious I guess. It is a white foam which when sprayed fizzes on the surface. You will be surprised at how much grime comes off. The smell is appealing; it doesn't smell foul or overpowering.

Screen-Clean - is exactly what it says on the tin. Designed to clean the computer monitor screen. This is safe for the CRT monitors and also the new TFT (flatscreen) monitors. The best thing about this is that its not only a cleaner, its also got an antistatic formula fo it will stop (or repel) dust from sticking to your screen. Its also non flammable, which is nice to know. This is applied onto the screen and then wiped with a cloth.

Ultraclene - these simply put are wipes, which can be used on any surface you wish. Tabletop, computer monitor, the CPU; anything you wish - they are universal. These can us used along with the sprays which come in the kit - so there is no need to go around trying to find a cloth, you have 4 pairs here.

Keyboard cleaning card - this is a card which lets you get into the small nooks and crannies of the keyboard - it cleans out all the grime and dirt which accumulates through regular use - very interesting idea that works.

Computiss - these are computer tissues. Best described as wet wipes, these are universal and can be used on any surface you wish. Thee work well and get the grime and dirt off, again the smell is really nice.

              Conclusion
              ##########

All products are non flammable, anti bacterial and smell great! We were told that if one product was used more than the other, then individual products can be replaced and purchased separately.

This is a great piece if kit which lasts a long time as you only need to use a little each time.

                Introduction
                ##########

I like to use my laptop when I'm out and about, but when im at home I want to use it just like a normal computer; I don't require the small keyboard, and I don't need the screen at the level of my knees - what I needed was one of these risers. They really made sense to have one. So here is my review.

                Why Have One?
                ##############

Well this riser allows you to put your laptop on it and raise the screen upto eye level. In doing this the keyboard becomes angled as well; I personally don't use the angled keyboard, I just simply plug a normal keyboard up to my laptop and type that way...so in a sense - its just like using a normal computer. Typing on a normal full size keyboard takes off the strain of the small laptop keyboard.

                The Riser
                ########

I purchased the riser for £9.99 from an online store. Its dimensions are 304 x 282 x 42 cm - so it will take any laptop you throw at it.

The way the riser works is very simple. It's made from two pieces of plastic with a hinge on it. You can adjust the angle of the riser from 3 degrees all the way to 40 degrees, so no matter how tall you are, you can set the monitor to whatever height suites your eye level. And also another thing is, as its on a hinge - it can fold flat, so you can carry it around in your laptop bag and when you get to work or you're at a desk you can always pull this out.

To raise your laptop all you do is place the bottom of your laptop onto the angled raiser and set the back end to whatever suits you. The platform you place your laptop on has rubber strips running across it, this is a really good addition which makes sure your computer will never fall off.

It is manufactured from really durable strong plastic - it is not flimsy at all, you will be surprised at what you get for the price. It is a solid piece of kit. I have purchased many laptop risers in the past for much more, but this one surpasses them by a million miles!

If you suffer from neck pain, and wrist pain from using a laptop, then this is defiantly for you. With a regular laptop you have the computer on your lap and you are looking down at the screen - this causes pain in some peoples necks - and it did to me too. Also you have the option of using the laptop keyboard when it is on an angle on the riser, ive used this and it is comfortable to use when I'm out and about, but when I'm at home there is nothing better than a regular computer keyboard.

This is an excellent piece of kit - comes highly recommended.

Low cost, has a fan and a window

                  Introduction
                  ##########

I have a Thermaltake Armor computer tower and wanted a window and a sidefan - so I decided to upgrade the side panel with this extra provided by Thermaltake. I purchased it for £19.99 from an online store - cant remember the name or website (sorry) but I know Amazon sell it for less.

                  Why Upgrade?
                  ############

Well the reasons someone would want to upgrade the side panel to their computer tower is to (1) have a window at the side - so you can see all of the inner workings of the computer, add lighting and basically pimp out your PC! (2) You can add an extra side fan to it, this means there will be more airflow to your computers mainboard, CPU, memory etc and keep everything cool when you are running intensive programs such as games.

                  What's Included?
                  ###############

Included in the package is the side panel itself - which will fit in the Armor and the Kandalf tower models and you also get a 25cm side fan.

                  The Side Panel
                  #############

If you have a Thermaltake tower you would know how solid their towers are made, my tower weights 10Kg which is really heavy! This side panel is no different - it is built to take a bullet. Really nice solid design, very sturdy. You get the window on the side which is sectioned off into 3 segments - you see everything you want to see of the inner workings of the computer. The fan is positioned so it goes just above the CPU - the main component of the computer and the component which gets the most hottest (upto 60 degrees C!)

                  Installation
                  #########

Installation is really simple. You simply slide off your previous side panel and slide this one in. You have to connect up the side panel fan up to a free molex connector to give it power. If you don't have any spare connectors you can always buy a molex splitter. Once that's done, that's it!

                  Advice
                  ######

The side panel fan is a really nice addition to the side panel - it is really quite and gives off A LOT of airflow. But once thing I did do is turn the fan around - before it was blowing cool air into the computer - and now (after I turned it around) its blowing the hot air OUT of the computer. As its positioned over the CPU heatsink I didn't want the aide fan blowing the air back in which the heatsink is (trying to) blow out. So that's my little tip for you guys!

                    Nice light

                    Introduction
                    ###########

You would think there was enough light coming from your laptop screen to lightup the keyboard for you to type at night, right? - well that's what id thought until one day when I had to work my laptop in the car, my roof light wasn't working - and I couldn't see anything. So I invested in one of these the very next day. I got mine from maplins for £9.99.

                    The Light
                    ########

This light is designed specifically for notebook use. It comes with a laptop screen clip which clips on the top of the laptop screen, and your little light clips into it. You can swivel the light in any direction you wish. The light spread is really impressive; it lights up the whole of the keyboard and some! So you can be doing some paperwork further away and lightup the keyboard too.

The light is powered by the USB port, so there is no need to be charging the light, or messing around with batteries or adapters or anything like that; just a simple USB port is required - which all laptops have these days.

The wire from the light and the light is long enough, but if you want to maneuver it around there is enough length to do so. As it is a coiled chord it is always out of your way, but there when needed.

With the package you also get a nice hard case to put everything in. I always keep everything in this case, and just leave it in my laptop bag.

                    Conclusion
                    #########

If you have a laptop, then this is for you, the price doesn't cost you an arm or a leg. It's a nice sleek design and does its proposed purpose, it works!

                    noisey, and low airflow amount.

                    Introduction
                    ##########

A friend of mine had this to cool his memory, but then later decided to purchase some better memory. He gave me this to see if I could make some use of it. I didn't really require and additional motherboard cooling but thought id still give this a try. So here is my review.

                    The Fan
                    #######

It's a really nice 10cm fan which is designed to be mounted wherever you want additional cooling. For example my friend used it to cool his memory as this memory was cheap and got very hot under certain intensive situations.

It is powered by the motherboard CPU fan (heatsink) you just simply split the power from it.

                    The Installation
                    ############

Pretty simple - just take out the power from your heatsink and use the splitter provided and connect the power supply to the fan. It's that simple. There are no fancy switches or inverts to deal with here...just this simple connection.

You are provided with 2 Velcro pads to mount the fan inside your case. I mounted mine to the side of the heatsink - so ideally the hot air blowing off the CPU will be blown to the side away.

                    The Results
                    ##########

The fan is really loud, and you know its there. The cooling is not that great - there is not much airflow here for the amount of noise it gives off. It didn't make any difference to the CPU temperature.

                    Introduction
                    ##########

Say goodbye to the regular ribbon cables inside your computer case - all they do is add clutter and aid in reducing airflow to the components. These are known in the trade as "rounded" cables. This one is for use with the floppy drive.

                    The Use
                    #######

I still had the old ribbon cables - which are not the prettiest things to look at. And also I have a computer case with a window so you can see all the clutter - it doesn't look the prettiest. I decided to purchase these. These are also available in the form for the CD drive too - this one I'm reviewing is for the floppy drive. They are both very similar.

                    The Cable
                    ########

You can get all sorts of different colours and varieties. I went for this UV finish one. I have a blue cathode in my case and thought that would have at least some effect on the finish - and it does. There is a nice glow which comes out of it. I know if I have a UV lamp inside it would have been much better. You get the usual connectors on either side of the cable which extends about 40 cms; which is more than enough to reach your drive and your motherboard.

The cable is made really well, the plastic on top of the cabling is really nice and thick, not flimsey at all.

                    The Installation
                    #############

Installation is very simple. Simply pull out the old ribbon cable and put this in the place of it! That's it! - Just make sure you have taken anti static measures as static can fry your components.

                    Conclusion
                    ##########

Getting this will increase airflow in your computer, and as a result can increase performance as it's cooled more adequately. These small things make a big difference. And your computer looks more nice.

                    ##########

During the journey of trying to make my computer cooler and controlling the heat inside the tower I stumbled across this little beauty. It's really simply to install and the reviews I've read state that this will really help.

                    The Device
                    ##########

The device itself is really simple. At the back of your computer you have little plugs where you connect your monitor, headphones, keyboard, mouse etc...these are simply holes within the tower where the motherboard pokes out. Now all this device does is uses a hole at the bottom of your computer (below the graphics card) and blows air from within your computer to the outside.

                    Installation
                    #########

From the back of your computer you have to remove a slot cover which is a simple task taking out a screw and removing the cover. Once this is removed; the outside of the cooler sits outside the slot and is secured with a screw. The inside just hovers like your graphics card of PCI card would. It is powered by a single molex connection - if you don't have any spare you can always buy a splitter.

                    The Results
                    #########

After installation I switched on my computer and I could hear the little extractor fan spinning; which is really quite - I could feel air being blown out the back of the cooler too.

On the digital thermometer I have on my CPU - the reading before the installation was 41 degree C. And after letting the computer sit idol for 5 minutes the temperature went down to 38 degrees C. So I know it really does work.

As the cooler sits below the graphics card it's really good to cool the GPU when playing games or graphics intensive programs.

Now that I've seen how useful American Crew products can be and discovered them - I was inclined to try this Daily Moisturizing Shampoo.

I have very dry hair, which is millions of split ends, it's always a matt colour, there is no shine at all and look really unhealthy. So this shampoo seemed like the answer I was looking for.

                      The Shampoo
                      ###########

I believe this is only designed for men - but I could be wrong. I purchased it from a website boasting about its male grooming products.

This cost me £7.99 for a 250ml bottle.

The bottle itself (like all other American Crew products) is a sleek brown bottle that has its name stamped over it. the shampoo smells like heaven! I've found this with all products from these guys, the smell is just sublime.

                      Using The Shampoo
                      ################

As the name suggests it's designed for everyday use for best results. I use it everyday in the evening. I put a small amount onto my hand and apply it onto my damp hair, it lathers up really well - so don't put too much on. I work it into my roots with my fingertips.

It washes out really well, and you can feel the difference right away, your hair feels really smooth and rich. And not the straw like texture mine had before.

                      ######

After using this shampoo for over a month now, I can truly say its worked wonders for me. My hair is rich with volume, and healthy. It has life and fullness - it always has a really good healthy shine to it. I am 100% happy with the results it's given me. I couldn't ask for anything more. Well maybe a conditioner!

                        ##########

We purchased this thermometer from a local pharmacy. Its designed for kids who don't like sticking things in their mouth (or for that matter anywhere else - let not go there!) this is a much simpler alternative for the forehead. So here is my review for it.

                        The Thermometer
                        ###############

The working of the thermometer is really simple. All you do is take it out of the protective sleeve, put it on the child's head and hold it from the sides. You leave it there for 5 minutes and then take a reading. That's it! The reading is shown as a line on the temperature scale and is very easy to read. We have had ours for nearly a year now and its still working good and strong.

                        Precision
                        ########

I thought id give this a test, so I put a traditional thermometer in my orifice (my mouth! :- ) and took a reading after 5 minutes, and then did the same with this strip by putting it on my forehead and I was surprised - the results were exactly the same!

So there is no need to worry about getting a false reading from this as its on the external part of the body - it still gives the same result.

                          You get 50 of them!

My computer tower has the standard screws at the back which require a screwdriver. I am always opening me case for one reason or another to give it a clean or to change something.

I purchased these thinking I would only get 4 screws - the amount required for the back of the case; but to my amazement I was staring at a pack of 50! And they were only £4.99 from ebuyer.

They match my case (colour black) - which didn't really matter anyway because none looks at the back of the computer anyway! - but these have been really useful; me not needing to go fetch the screwdriver every time.

They are a nice size too. The thumbturn part is a nice size to grip hold of with striations so you can get a nice grip on it.

Its shocking how something so small can make a big difference in your life - and if you loose one - you have the leftover from the 50 pack!!
