      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      cheap and chearful

This is a great grill chain. Reasonable food at reasonable prices.
They have introduced a new menu system over the last few years where you pick 3 different items.
Firstly you pick your main (e.g. grill, steak, burger, sausages etc.), then you add your side ( mash, chips, new potatoes, rice of baked potatoes) and a sauce (ketchup, mayo, piri, parsley with creme fraiche and many others)
This is good, because it means that you can customise your meal without the awkwardness of having to ask the waitress to change items.
The average meal cost is about £8-£12 ish. This comes with a free unlimited salad bar.
I would rave about the salad bar, it comes with warm fresh bread rolls, potato salad, pasta salad, lettuce cucumber etc, and choices of dressings such as red devil, vinagerette and blue cheese. With crutons and onion and becon crispes.
The soft drinks are £2.25 and are unlimited refils. (lemonade, pepsi max, diet pepsi and pepsi), however you have to refill them yourselves, so it does slightly detract from the eating experience.
The alcahol is very reasonable, you can get a local beer for roughly £2.50-£3.00
      However, on the bad side...
There is a poor choice of vegetarian alernatives. There is now a spicy chick pea burger (which i hate to see is absoutly revolting), a simple pasta dish and a butternut squash tart. The tart is the only thing worth ordering really.
And, although i dont eat meat I have been informed by my other half that the steak is not great quality.
However, for the price, you get alot of food and a wide range of choices. The mixed grill is a particular winner with my family.
The desserts are fantastic, they specialise in sundaes, with a standard choices aswell as special depending on the time of year.

Basically, dont expect the gourmet food, but its cheap and chearful!

        university campus

I am in my third year at this university, studying classical civilisations.
It is a great university and a fantastic department.
The student union is very active, with a new centralised bar and resturant system all run through the university. The union has 1 coffee shop, 1 pubish bar and 1 club, all of which turn at night times into busy pub/bar areas.
The union also has a blackwells bookshop, korean food chain, small supermarket, hairdressers, bagel shop, societies hub and a cash point.
The campus is a beautiful green area with a massive lake towards the back.
The main campus is set in a square with the union and the library at the front. However, behind the lake are more buildings, such as for the sciences and also a mini campus at London road.
Some of the buildings look slightly dated, but they do not feel it when you are in them.
There is more than ample room within each of the buildings.
There are also various museums and amenities. such as the ure museum of greek pottery and the museum of zoology.
The campus has been voted one of the top green spaces in the UK and is making active steps to reduce its carbon footprint. This include recycling stations at regular intervals. This also helps to reduce the mess across the campus, so it is generally very clean.
Each building generally has an inbuilt cafe, selling coffees and paninis.
The gym is a very impressive utility, with state of the art technlogy and reduced student discounts.

The campus is roughly a 20 minute walk from town, 25 to the train station. However there are cheap bu routes, leaving every 15 minutes from the centre of campus.

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

Beautiful castle in the south of England.

This castle was built in 1067 under William the Conquerer's patronage to protect thr river Arun from invasion. However, this was really just the Keep and the central section of the castle, the castle as we know it now has only been there for last last few hundred years. When you drive up to the castle, it is absoutly breathtaking! It is the second biggest lived in castle in the UK (behind Windsor). But, as it is lived in, you only get to see about just over 1/3 of the castle.
          Things open to visitors:
          The gardens
          The Keep
The great Hall, armoury, dining room, living room, Library, antelibrary and a few suite's of bedrooms. Obviously, all guest bedrooms.
One of the draw backs, I think, is we don't get to see any Kitchens, which is usually a very interesting part of visiting a stately home.
However, there are some very good points too. Firstly, in one of the Bedrooms, they have made up Victorias bedroom. Which, has all the furniture from when Victoria and Albert stayed at the Castle.
Another massive pro are the paintings, there is a Cunstable, A turner and various Van Dyke. So for an art fan... Very impressive. Another key find is a set of Rosary beads in the Dining room that once belonged to Mary queen of Scots.
However, Personally, I think the biggest pull of this castle is the magnificent Library. The 'collector Earl', had managed to collect such a vast array of books, including a very early edition of the Bible. However, it is the spectacuar architecture that really pulls you in. Designed in the Gothic style, you cant help but be blown away!!
I do think there are some cons though...
Firstly, Prices. When I went last year (so it might have gone up slightly) these were the prices. They had 4 tiers of tickets. Bronze (just for the gardens) was £7.50. Silver (Gardens and Keep) was £11.50, Gold (Gardens, Keep and castle) was £13 and Gold plus which added the bedrooms was £13.50. This may not seem this much, but when you add it for a family. A family ticket (which only allowed for 2 children) was £36. This is very pricey. Especially as, I would say it took 2-3 to look around. So, not the best value for money.
Another Con is pram access. They would not let me take my pram into the castle, saying i should leave it at the bottom and carry my sleeping child. I was not impressed with this, firstly the safety of the pram and secondly, who wants to carry a child in their arms around a castle for 2-3 hours.
However, disabled access is good. They have a buggy which runs from the bottom of the hill where you buy tickets to the castle at the top. and they have lifts so wheelchairs and can access everywhere.

But overall, If you dont mind paying the expensive prices... this place is definatly worth a visit!!
And, they have event days in the summer, (such as jousting) which are great for the kids!!!

Local museum of history with travelling exhibitions

This museum has 3 floors and is split into 4 sections. On the top floor you have Portsmouth football club's history archives. They have built this section very well, with many Tv's to relive alot of the football clubs best moments. There are also current artefacts, such as the previous FA cup win. There are spectacular views of the seafront from the top floor
The floor underneath is Portsmouth's local history. Spanning from both wartime Portsmouth to portsmouth through the ages. The war time portsmouth part is very interesting, because of the dockyards Portsmouth has been very involved in war. Not just the newest wars, there are sections of wood from the Mary rose, which set sail under Henry VIII from Portsmouth. The Portsmouth through the ages relies on local donations, such as a fashion section with beautiful dresses donated. Aswell as replica living rooms from the 60's to jog peoples memories!
On the Ground floor there is the two travelling exhibitions. Currently it is the Cannon Doyle to the left, and Dickens to the right. Dickens is very important at the moment, because he was born in Portsmouth and it is his bicentenery. The museum even borrowed an original manuscript from the British museum for the summer, so it shows there are some fantastic finds if you keep an eye out.
However, Disabled access is not very good. Wheelchairs were only allowed on the bottom floor. The cafe is very good, it is run by an independent buisness and it is cheap and cheerful food. A big overflowing jacket potato for about £3, and with lovely gardens behind, which are away from the road so kids can play.
In the summer the museum organises alot of events such as 'out to lunch', which are like arts and crafts events. A must do, to get the kids out of the house.
However, best of all... IT IS ONE HUNDRED PERCENT FREE!!!! including the events
So, I whole heartedly recommend this place.

            Local museum on D-day

The museum is split into 3 sections, first of all you enter and have the overlord embroidery. This is dubber as the modern day Bayeux Tapestry and depicts the events leading up to and including the invasion. The embroidery is displayed beautifully and is absoultly fantastic. Then there is the cinema. This is a 16 minute film that runs every 20 minutes. It is about the propoganda and build up to DDay, using videos from the Imperial war museum. This is a really good way to start, so I would recommend watching this before viewing the embroidery because it helps set the scene of the museum.
Then on the other side of the museum is the actual museum. It was redone a few years ago and is visually very appealing. There are fantastic displays and artefacts, with various videos and local portsmouth people recalling memories coming from the speakers. Which really brings it all to life. However, one if the highlights is the vehicles shed you walk through, with Tanks and carriers that were used in the invasion. In the carrier you can actually walk on to it, which feels very surreal.
One of the highlights of my trip here was talking to the Veterns, who volunteer everynow and then. I got a first hand chat from two gentlemen, which as you can imagine is an invaluble addition to the museum. They were happy to answer questions for hours!!
However, the downside of the museum is the cafe. There is a small cafe at the back of the museum run by a catering company called Yellow Kite. The food is very expensive and nothing special. It was a very sunny day when i visited also, and because the museum is on the seafront the cafe was heaving and i had to wait 30 minutes for a toasted cheesy!! So, I wouldn't recommend eating here.
My personal recommendation would be to make a day trip here in the morning, and then when youve finished walk out the back cafe doors and into the castle grounds. The castle is free and also run by Portsmouth Council, so when you pay the £6.50 entry fee for D-Day, you could have a full day out for that price. Southsea castle is very small behind so I wouldnt recommend it by itself, but if yuo are visiting the D-Day, then I would definatly say it would enhance your visit to Portsmouth to pop in!

            Lovely little pub

This may not look all that from outside at the moment, but that is because they are currently doing up the outside. It looks very nice, and it will only improve and already great little pub.
The food here is fantastic, Not the cheapest, but averaging on £10 per meal, not including a drink. They do fantastic portions of cheesy chips, for about £3.
The drinks are good, standard selection that you would expect with average prices these days. Roughly £3.50 per pint.
However, what I think is most important is the lovely atmosphere it has. The drinking area out the front is really lovely, with pretty lights and heaters... so good for use all year round. However the downside to this is that it is on a very main road, so the cars are constant and noisey, which doesn't even get that much quieter at night time. However, it is still good.
The music is always lively inside, with regular live bands.
I find it is a perfect stop for a few hours before you go clubbing in reading town. I would definatly recommend...

Four scientists meet a young actress who has moved in to their building

So far we are on season 6 and I am a massive fan and I hope it goes on for a long time to come!!!!
The first series centers around 4 young phycists (Sheldon, Howard, Raj and Leonard) who meet a waitress/ aspring actress who has moved in to Sheldon and Leonards building. The humour is based around their two worlds meeting in the middle. We see the nerdy antics of the scientists followed by the often doomed love life of the 'cooler' penny. However, there is an ongoing love story 'will they wont they' saga between Penny and Leonard.
Later on in the seasons we see other secondary characters introducted. Howards love interest Benadette and Sheldons love interest Amy. Both scientists also, but add to the group dynamic perfectly.
This combination of actors and actresses work together brilliantly. It is a hilarious sitcom which never fails to make you laugh.
A lot of the jokes can be very science based, however I don't think you have to know much about science to enjoy the program.
It started in 2007, and you can see that some of the earlier episodes are slighted dated (visually, in terms of quality of picture). However, That does not detract from the humour of the program

              Creators:
Chuck Lorre, Bill Prady. (Chuck Lorre is the same guy that created Roseanne and Two and a half men)
              starring :
Johnny Galecki ,Jim Parsons ,Kaley Cuoco , Simon Helberg and Kunal Nayyar .
Jim parsons role as Sheldon cooper is particuarly brilliant, he has won numerous Grammys for his aclaimed performance!!

Overall, I would highly recommend this to everyone!

              great little texter

Great for talking and texts, It has a VGA camera, however this is very poor quality, so much so that it is basically unusable. So, if you are buying this for the use of a camera, then I would recommend not buying this and searching for something else. It does also come with a video recording software, however as it runs off the same camera, it is also next to useless.
However, it had MP3 player and FM radio. The storage for MP3 is pretty poor but the FM radio is pretty good quality. And, on a plus it comes with headphones, so you don't need to go out and buy any extra ones. They are reasonable comfortable aswell.
However, I think one of the biggest pros of this phone is the amazing battery life. I opened it on christas day and I only needed to charge it a few days ago. Therefore, it lasted 10 days without needing charging... which is really helpful. Although, I am not a big phone user so it might not last that long if you are on it all of the time.
It is very lightweight and user friendly. I didn't even need to open the instructions to be able to work the phone, which is one of the perks of having a simpler phone.
Overall, if you are just using it for phone calls and texts then it is pefect, it does exactly what it says on the tin. However, if you are looking for something more complex then steer clear of this one.
But, because I have an Ipod touch with app software, I do not need anything more than this and thus find it 100% helpful.
It also has verying functions for texting. Predictive and non, numerical and capitals. So, if your not good with predictive text you can click off the function and use it as a very simple texting device. Contacts are easy to add.
The games are not very good, and only trial games. You play about 2 minutes then it asks you to pay for the full version. Therefore, once again it is only really great for texting and phoning.

                Disadvantages

a mix between an IPOD and an IPHONE.

The Ipod touch is a revelation for the ipods. I would say it is basically an Iphone without the phoning function, so much cheaper.
I use it combined with a cheepy phone, and thus get everything one would want from an I phone.
It is easy and simple to use, like most Apple software. It runs off the apple I tunes. You can download Apps for it on the IPOD itself aswell as on the ITUNES on your laptop.
It has a great memory, I have good a vast array of music, contacts and apps and have not even come near to reaching my memory limit. It automatically syncs when you plug it in to your computer, but you can charge it on the go as it also has a mains adapter.
You can move the app shortscuts around on your screen and put them into folders to make them easier to access. For example, I have the app store, facebook, camera and contacts all on my home page because they are the ones I use the most. So it makes it very easy.
The apps are quick to download and Itunes had a lot of cheap and free apps. Especially ones for companys like train times, making it an essential gadget to have.
The camera quality is fantastic, for videos and images. With alot of storage. I have thousands of photos and do not struggle to save them. There are also many apps such as instagram which are free and allow you to do cool things to them. And, they can be easily uploaded do social media sites.
You may not be able to phone off this, but You do have facetime, messages, whatsap and I use skype on it. So, as long as your contacts have skype or another app, then it can be used as a phone also.
However, the downside is it is not 3G, only WI-FI. Therefore, it can only be used to access alot of apps and internet functions when you are in range of a router. Which, means it cant be used as a phone when you are out.
The music quality if fantastic, as is the video quality when you stream videos and films.
However, when you use it to its fullest the battery life is pretty awful. It needs charging every day. Sometimes, if your watching videos or playing games then it wont even last the whole day.
But, Overall the pros by far outweigh the cons and it is a fantastic, good value piece of kit.

                  a lovely minature cupcake maker

I recieved this cupcake maker for a christmas present from my parents and I was thrilled. It is a brilliant piece of kit that creates fantastic cupcakes.
I was worried due to the fast cooking that the cakes would come out stodgy, however I was 100% wrong, they came out light and fluffy and were delicous.
The maker came with some cupcake cases and a syringe for Icing. The syringe is fantastic and you can use it to create many designs to experiment with the decorations.
However, there were 2 small faults. The leaflet said leave the batter in for 3 minutes, if it is cooked leave it for another minute to brown. It took more like 4-5 minutes to cook, and I really struggled to get the tops to Brown. However, 4-5 minutes it still very quick so I can't complain at all, and You could not taste any difference with them not going golden brown on the top. They just look very pale. However, when you add Icing on top it really doesn't matter anyway.
I was worried about the small cake cases needed for product as it only came with rougly 50 in, however I went to my local supermarket and easily found a packet of 100 for 99p, so that is not a problem either.
I found it very easy to clear afterwards, because of the non-stick surface inside, and lastly, it came with a recipe pamplet which some lovely ideas.
I would recommend this product to anyone, and for the price it is very good value!!

Well, It is an incredible invention. To be able to fit a dual core processor into a 7mm thick tablet is truely impressive. I think it is a must have. I paid £314 off amazon, and i think it is worth every penny.
The camera is fantatic quality, and produces some truely lovely photos. Especially considering how lightweight the IPAD is, therefore it is easy to transport and use on the go. On the APP store there are also alot of different photo apps, such as Instagram which create brilliant effects.
I use mine to write my notes for university, and it is perfect. Laptops are too heavy and so I never took it in, where as the IPAD is easy to chuck into my handbag and take it easily to university. However, it is neccesary to purchase a case for it, because it would easily get damaged and scratched in transport.
The battery life is not the best, especially if you have been using it for games and for watching videos.
The software of Itunes that it runs off is very user friendly and easy to use, making downloading and scyncing apps very easy.
I am not a particuarly computer smart person, hence the un-technical review. But as a consumer, I found this good value for money and very user friendly.

                    Advantages

                    • Reliability

                    Disadvantages

                    A fantastic e-reader

I recieved this as a birthday present from my other half, and I must say, I am converted to E-readers. It cost £139 and is a similar price now and I think it is worth every penny. It is light weight, and the screen does not hurt your eyes when using it for long periods of time. But, most importantly the software is really easy to use on the actual e-reader as well as on the computer. Amazon makes it very easy to use their online shop to purchase the E-books which are delivered automatically to your kindle. However, the faults I would comment on are that if you have the 3G on, the battery life is not great, however if you turn 3G off when it is not neccesary then it does preserve the battery life. However, it is easy to forget to turn it off. Secondly, alot of the books can be very costly on Amazon. Occasionly even more expsensive than the paperback versions. However, alot of the classics which are out of copyright are free to download on Amazon. Namely, the Brontes and Sherlock Holmes etc. Which is very handy when you want something to read but your low on cash.
The functions which let you write notes and change font size are invaluable too. I find when i get tired but want to carry on reading you can make the font bigger and it makes it easier to carry on!
Overall, their may be faults, but I would recommend this too anyone. You can feel when your holding it what a quality piece of kit it is!

The opening film into a franchise of vampires

I brought this a while ago, and I must say It is the best film of the franchise. Catherine Hardwick does a very good job of setting the scene and introducing the characters. I brought the DVD at the retail price of £13.99, which I do not think is the best value for money. However seeing that you can now get it for under £6 I would recommend it as a purchase. There is a lack of extra features on the DVD, which made the price of £13.99 seem excessive, as you are not really getting much more than was availible for you at the cinema. However, if you are just interested in watching the film, for under £6, it is now much better value for money. It also stays very true to the books narrative, so if you enjoyed reading Meyer's original book then this is a definate must have!
The plot of this first book invoves Bella swann arriving to stay with her dad in forkes and meeting a new family with a dark secret. They are vampires. However, Bella feels drawn to one of the Cullens; Edward. However, love does not run a smooth course with this couple. The vampire world and human world do not easily mix.

                      Advantages

                      Disadvantages

The trio leave hogwarts and start their hunt for the Horcruxes

As an avid fan of the Harry Potter franchise I was very excited (along with most of the world!) about the release of this film. The deathly Hallows had been my favourite book and I was excited to hear it was being split into two instalments, double the enjoyment. However, I hate to say it, but I am not 100% sure that it needed splitting into two instalments. yes, one film would have been very lengthy, but I found deathly Hallows part 1 to be a bit of a dissapointment. Other than the events in Godrics Hollow, Not very much happens in this part of the film. It is a lot of camping and pondering about the Horcruxes. Don't get me wrong, I still loved it, but t wasn't as good as I had hoped. The second instalment of deathly Hallows gripped me far more. This isn't the films fault, because it obviously relies on the book, but the balance of action scenes between the two films I do not think is distributed evenly.
But Naturally, It cannot be missed!
